I have never seen a Malaysian movie before now, in fact, I don't have a knowledge of how they acted in their movie, but the one I just finished watching is WOW.
The Blood Brothers is a movie I wouldn't forget in a rush and this is because of so many intrigues as brought forward by the movie through its character such as Sharnaaz Ahmad, who acted as Ghaz and a head or leader of a gangster group. Also, we have in the movie Shukri Yahaya who acted as Fadlan, a lawyer who is a son to the overall leader of the group, Dato.
Also we have in the movie Syafiq Kyle who acted as Ariff, a loyal boy to Ghaz in the movie. We also have other characters like Jaki, Sheila who was the wife of Ghaz and so many other actors who acted well in the movie.
The movie, Blood Brothers Syafiq Yusof and Abhilash Chandra and the main language used in the movie is the Malay language, but being subtitled into English language.
THE PLOT
The movie is a crime thriller action movie that was full of intrigue from the start to the finish.
The movie is about a young man called Arrif who was loyal to his brother, a man who brought him into the Naga brotherhood. His loyalty to his brother, Ghaz was put to test when he was wrongly alleged for the death of his mother's newly wedded wife Sheila by an unknown assailant.
In his effort to prove himself innocent of the allegation, he faced many trials which left him to be confused of what to do while searching for the video clips of the incident as recorded by his biological brother Jaki.
So, while looking for the video clips from his brother pen drive, Ghaz the husband of the deceased was busy looking for him to kill, thinking he, Ariff had betrayed, but it's in the process that the cat was let out of the bag and the secret of who killed the young and newly wedded bride, Sheila was revealed.
It's when he was on a revenge mission that he got to know that the security architecture of the old man, Dato, who handed over power to him by stepping down as the leader of the Naga group had been compromised by the killer of his wife who happened to be the brother of the wife and the son of the old man, Dato, in his effort to fight back and protect the man, he got shot and the man was also killed.
He was quickly rushed out of the scene and got treatment by Ariff's friend who happened to be a nurse.
However, he decided to take revenge on the perpetrators of the dastardly act, but Ariff this time around would not support that. He told him that he had involved the police, but when the police came, he had left.
Though the police was hellbent on handling the matter, but they were also attacked and this was what led to the final battle where the scores were being settled by the actors involved and the battle that started just because of Fadlan feeling betrayed for not being chosen as the head of the Naga group by his supposed father, was put to rest and normalcy was returned to the community. Though the police threatened fire and brimstone, it didn't hold water.
THEME AND ANALYSIS
The movie like I said earlier is an interesting one and it's also a crime thriller movie which is full of intrigue and suspense.
One major theme of the movie is betrayal. The evidence of betrayal can be seen written and acted all over the movie.
The act of betrayal in the movie started with the choice of Ghaz by Dato as his successor. His supposed son, Fadlan, would have thought he would be the one to be chosen by the father, but since the father could not really trust him, he chose an outsider to be his successor. Maybe if that had not happened in his choice of a successor, maybe the spilling of bloods and the killing that took place wouldn't have happened.
Also, Fadlan killing his sister just because of his revenge mission on what his father did to him was a wrong move on his part, though he had the right to protest, but not by killing his sister, Sheila. So, this act is an act of betrayal as well.
Furthermore, we can also see the theme of loyalty in the movie. The way Ariff stood by Ghaz is a show of loyalty. Also, the way one of the body guards stood his ground not to divulge where the video was even unto the point of his death is also an act of loyalty.
In addition, the theme of loyalty can be seen in the way Ghaz stood and took revenge of his dead wife and also his unflinching loyalty to his boss, Dato is another way loyalty was portrayed in the movie.
There are also other themes of love and revenge in the movie. The theme of love can be seen between Ghaz and Sheila. Both are lover birds who would not joke with each other. Also, the kind of love that existed between Ariff and his brother and nephew cannot be overemphasized in the movie.
What is the theme of revenge? This theme can be seen in the way Fadlan took the life of Sheila, his sister, to take revenge against the choice of his father. As if that's not enough, the killing of the body guards is also another kind of a revenge and Ghaz coming back to take the life of Fadlan and his cohort is another theme of revenge as acted out in the movie.
The theme of deceit is another theme I would be talking about in the movie. Ghaz saved Brother Sam out of his love for him, but him telling him to run when he was supposed to kill him as agreed upon is a form of deceit, but thank God he didn't kill him.as he was the one that came to his rescue at the end.
Lastly, the theme of murder where both innocent and those who were not innocent were killed in the movie can be seen clearly in the movie. It's very pathetic.
But one thing I didn't like so much about the movie is that of performing all these dastardly acts in the presence of a toddler. Those scenes of killing and gunshots in the presence of a toddler can serve as a trauma to that young kid. But overall, the movie is an interesting one and I would love to watch it over and over again.
One thing I love so much about the movie is its clear pictures and the way it's being subtitled for easy understanding.
RATING
I would rate the movie 7/10.
Thanks for reading.

This should be the very first time I'm reviewing a series even before I finish the series, you really need to see how I'm falling in love with the series..... I literally steal out time from work to see few seconds, lol and that's why I had to put up this review early enough so we all can enjoy it together.
Funny enough, it's not as if this series is an ongoing series neither is it a series of 2024 or 2025, it was a 2019-2023 series, but in football we say one thing about outstanding players.... Class is permanent!
And that's the case with All Rise.
All Rise is a legal series that literally makes you rise up and clap for the producers.
I've only seen six (6) episodes but it's been superb. It's a series that dives into not just what goes on in the courtroom but also about the people behind the bench, those who work tirelessly within the justice system, and the messy, complicated, but deeply human stories they carry with them.
So far, it's been Judge Lola Carmichael running the show especially with her charisma and dedication.. reminds me so much of Jessica Pearson in Suits. The movie was fast-paced with giving her the judge's rope immediately it started and the good thing I'm picking from her is that she's not just there to continue the tradition, she's looking so much like she's there to leave legacies and chases after justice in the most crude and unfathomable way she can.
I love it but I'm scared for her, I don't know what the future episodes have for her but I'm not seeing it getting easy for her especially with her bold moves of pushing boundaries, I feel like she's going to be stepping on toes of older judges and tougher prosecutors but well, I'm sat to see the series to the end... Let's go get the popcorn and wait till the very end.
Her friendship with Mark Callan, a district Attorney is an amazing one, never have I seen such a platonic relationship, they are there for each other, they share ideas , they tease each other and they are maintaining the relationship in the most matured and respectable way ever.
Will their relationship be tested in time especially when they share different views? And especially when Callan have to be the Prosecutor for a case Judge Lola will be presiding? Will they be able to handle their relationship and won't the counsellor prick that angle to seek for a retrial? Well... Let's see what happens soon..
I can't end without commenting on Emily Lopez, a dedicated public defender who will stop at nothing despite having little resources to make sure she brings justice to the foot door of her clients. I'm scared of one thing on her behalf and that's the fact that she invests so much emotion in her clients.... I feel she will be broken when she loses a case dear to her and she already told Luke Watkins that "you never recover when a non- guilty client is convicted especially because of lack of evidence to prove his innocence" when she was asked how she copes.
Finally, here is Luke Watkins, a court baliff who has picked interest in standing on the upper chamber, even though he's yet to decide the type of lawyer he wants to be, he is very keen on passing his bar exams and going further but in the meantime, he's just doing excellently in his court baliff job . Will he stay stuck in the shadow of the courtroom, or will he fight his way to a more central role as a lawyer?
And what will happen with the tiny blooming relationship between him and Emily Lopez? Will it be a success... I'm seriously rooting for him 😃.
Just in the first 6 episodes, All Rise has made me fall in love deeply with the series and I keep wondering how I never discovered nor heard about it when it's almost on the same par with Suits series. The cases they tackle in the series so far isn't just cooked up stories, they are cases that are endemic with us and it makes you wonder how many of these cases in reality gets the justice they deserve because the extent they chase justice in the series is too notch and I wonder if the judges and counsellors will be able to pull up that to ensure justice.
Going forward, I expect it to get tougher for everyone and their tests to come in various ways but I'm still rooting for them they are able to handle it wonderfully well and come out unscathed.
Once again, this show reminds us that the justice system isn’t just about laws; it’s about people, lives, and the ripple effects of every decision made inside that courtroom.
You might really want to jump in and have fun together because If the first 6 episodes are this good, then I’m glad I started this journey late—because now I get to binge the rest without waiting for when they will release an episode, hehe.
Let me gist you about Crazy Love. This movie is exactly what the title says, pure madness wrapped up in love. At first, I thought it was just going to be another romantic comedy with some laughs and tears, but omo, the ride it took me on was something else.
So, the story starts with this math genius and CEO, Noh Go-jin. He’s brilliant, no doubt, but my guy is also arrogant to the core. Like, the kind of boss that will make you want to scream, quit your job, and still cry because you don’t have another job. He doesn’t care about anybody’s feelings — he only cares about success and numbers. His secretary, Lee Shin-ah, is this quiet, hardworking woman who literally just wants to do her job, pay her bills, and live in peace. But trust me, with Go-jin as your boss, peace no dey anywhere near your life.
Now here is where it gets crazy: one day Go-jin gets threats of death. Somebody is really trying to kill him. Then, one day, he had a crash and now he has amnesia. I had the thought, "Oh, ok, typical K-drama staging. You know, he will forget everything, fall in love with his secretary and life will be sweet.” But nooooo, this movie- we are going to mess with your head. Shin-ah, formerly a foe of Go-jin who despised him with all her heart, must now contend with this new Go-jin who does not remember being a monster boss. He even turns soft, sweet and vulnerable. And that is when the distinction between hate and love begins to get clouded.
There is one scene where Shin-ah nurses him following the accident and you can almost see her struggle to hold her feelings. It is as though she is posing herself the question, Shall I soften my heart? Or ought I remind myself, this is the same man who once made me cry in the office bathroom?” The inner struggle was so strong because this has happened many times to us all, where someone has hurt us, and then we see their other side?
But I cannot say I was lying when I say the twists made Crazy Love so addictive. There is this mystery of why someone wants Go-jin dead and just when I thought I had it figured out, another character would come in and be a suspect. The manner in which the actions of betrayal and trust were intertwined left me side-eyeing each of the characters. At one time I even thought of Shin-ah herself. It was that tricky.
And the romance? Whew! When Go-jin finally starts falling for Shin-ah, it’s not the smooth “boy meets girl, they kiss, and roll credits” kind of love. It’s messy, it’s awkward, and it’s filled with both comedy and pain. One minute they’re fighting like cat and dog, the next minute they’re staring at each other like the world doesn’t exist. It reminded me of how unpredictable love can be — sometimes the person who drives you the craziest is the one your heart chooses.
Once secrets began to unravel, I felt as though I was reading a combination of a rom-com, a thriller, and a revenge story. How Shin-ah finally discovered her voice and quit letting Go-jin get away with walking over her made me cheer. I liked that she did not transform into the woman who healed the man but she transformed into a person as well. I was moved by that part because it demonstrated how love is not supposed to control you but rather it is supposed to give you strength.
Watching Crazy Love made me laugh abeg, it made me gasp and to be very honest, it made me reflect. I was wondering why we human beings at times tend to be involved in the most complex relationships. Perhaps it is because deep down we do not want boring. We desire something that makes us feel alive even though it may be a bit crazy- fire, passion.
So yeah, if you’re ready for a love story that’s not sweet and simple, but chaotic, thrilling, and full of twists, Crazy Love is it. And trust me, it’ll leave you asking yourself if maybe, just maybe, crazy love is better than no love at all.
Hollywood has, as a rule, never been on first-name terms with history, which it has primarily viewed as a source of intriguing stories and inspiration for pretty pictures, with historical authenticity in Hollywood films usually ending up as the lowest priority. It is thus a tragic irony that Hollywood has largely shaped history itself—that the general perception of numerous, often profoundly significant historical events is grounded in Hollywood films that have elevated myth above historical truth. Given such prolific historical myth-making in Hollywood, one might have anticipated the time when Hollywood itself would begin to believe its own myths. A prime example of this is The Post, Steven Spielberg’s 2017 film, which nominally draws on real events from less than half a century earlier but in reality perpetuates a myth now cherished by today’s Hollywood hipsters not so much for propaganda as for therapeutic reasons.
The narrative begins in 1965, when young military analyst Daniel Ellsberg (Matthew Rhys) accompanies American soldiers on a patrol in the jungles of South Vietnam. Having witnessed one of many instances where young American conscripts end up in plastic body bags, Ellsberg becomes convinced that the United States is stuck in the Vietnam War and cannot win it. To his great surprise, his superior, Defence Secretary Robert McNamara (Bruce Greenwood), shares this view but dares not admit it publicly, instead continuing to trumpet the official line about an imminent victory. Six years later, with President Nixon continuing the war from the White House, Ellsberg decides to expose official policy by publishing a series of explosive documents on the Vietnam War known as the Pentagon Papers. All this, however, is of little concern to Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep), the widow of the Washington Post’s tragically deceased publisher, who is contemplating taking the newspaper public. Her editor, Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks), catches wind that the rival and far more prestigious New York Times might be about to publish sensational war-related news. His investigation leads him to Ellsberg, but this creates a dilemma for Graham, as publishing the Pentagon Papers could bring down the wrath of the vindictive Nixon upon the then relatively undistinguished and less powerful Washington Post, along with lawsuits, injunctions, and other complications that might reduce the newspaper to penury.
It is not difficult to argue that The Post owes its existence primarily to Donald Trump’s election as the 45th American president. Although the screenplay was written before the 2016 election, the entire project was launched at the beginning of 2017, with Spielberg jumping into it with little preparation, later justifying this by claiming the theme—concerning media freedom and the limits of power in modern democracies—had become “timely.” In reality, the timeliness lies less in the deep mutual antipathy between Trump and the American mainstream media, which had its historical parallels in the Nixon era, than in the impeachment narrative, through which Hollywood’s salon leftists—including Spielberg himself—sought some solace or at least hope that the unbearable reality of living in a world where Hillary Clinton is not president would soon end. It was to be expected that the impeachment story, an institution of presidential removal that has had practical effects only once, in Nixon’s case, would find its cinematic reflection in a film about the Watergate scandal. Such a film, however, had already been made in 1976 in the form of the classic All the President’s Men, a remake of which even Spielberg did not dare attempt. Instead of the heroic tale of Woodward and Bernstein, a hagiographic story was crafted about the institution they worked for—the Washington Post, which in late 2010s and early 2020s, whether by accident or design, enjoyed the status of the unofficial mouthpiece of the anti-Trump resistance movement in Washington.
The story of the Pentagon Papers is now regarded as a sort of prelude or introduction to the Watergate scandal, though, upon reflection, it had far more significant consequences and was inherently more important than the fate of a single presidential administration. The decision to publish the Pentagon Papers, and even more so the Supreme Court ruling that prevented the U.S. federal government from attempting to halt their publication, was of exceptional importance in establishing new standards of free speech and press freedom in a country that likes to portray itself as a model for all modern democracies. Spielberg’s The Post depicts these events but does so from a perspective that casts the owner and editor-in-chief of the Post—an institution that was merely a secondary player in the Pentagon Papers story—as protagonists. The script, not entirely convincingly, attempts to elevate the importance of the Washington Post, or at the very least downplay the far more arduous work and significant role played by the New York Times. Spielberg and other Hollywood leftists were aided by the fact that Graham was a woman, allowing them to use her struggle to assert herself among her male colleagues, bankers, and associates, who still harboured sexist prejudices against her as a motivating factor. On the other hand, the script fails to integrate this effectively. As a result, the film feels like three movies clumsily stitched together—the story of Ellsberg’s exposure of the dark side of the Vietnam War, Katharine Graham’s battle against sexism, and journalists’ efforts to secure new standards of press freedom. Spielberg has directed all this competently and has at his disposal an exceptionally diverse and willing cast. Nevertheless, The Post still comes across as disjointed and overly opportunistic. Most striking, however, is its smugness—that is, its settling of scores with decades-old Nixon and Vietnam-era grievances. Hollywood and Spielberg would not dare make a film about today’s equivalents of the Post and the Pentagon Papers, especially considering that figures like Chelsea Manning, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden receive not praise for exposing the dark sides of American imperial wars in the Post’s pages but editorials accusing them of endangering national security and calling for US government to drone-strike them in the back of the head. It can be assumed that The Post, born in a brief historical moment, will quickly fade into obscurity—and that its creators won’t particularly mind.

I'm still publishing some of the movies I saw on last Saturday, some of them with my wife and when I first saw the trailers for Red One I was expecting another one of those generic Christmas movies with The Rock doing his usual thing, you know the drill, same expressions same attitude but let me tell you that what I saw was unexpected, this isn't the typical holiday movie where everything is predictable, mixing action with Christmas magic is not usual and even though are totally different concepts the way that was created doesn't feel forced or stupid like most holiday movies, yeah this one took me a while to watch but its because I knew most likely how low was the bar in this case. The movie start with a family celebrating Christmas and focus on an specific kid, Jack, he has the ability to find everything and that night wasn't the exception because he found some gifts but wasn't the Christmas gift so he decided to wait all night for Santa because he really doesn't believe in him, after that start the movie take us to the present when we met the main character of this story Callum Drift, he is a bodyguard but not a normal one because he has the security of Santa Claus. The Rock plays Callum Drift, this season he is going to experience the most difficult task on his career and will joined forces with Jack plays by Chris Evans but is going to be nothing but easy. I really believed that this will be just a stupid movie, with the same things for christmas, you know the snow, the fat Santa, the reindeer but holy shit this movie actually surprised me.
After watching Red One I can tell I was impressed and the reason is because this isn't a typical holiday movie where everything is predictable and cheesy, this thing actually has some serious bite to it and manages to mix action with Christmas magic, even though are two different topics, the movie knows how to present it and match in a way that doesn't feel forced or stupid like most holiday movies tend to do these days. The whole premise sounds ridiculous when you think about it, Santa gets kidnapped and The Rock has to team up with Chris Evans to save Christmas, in some way the director knows how to balance the silly stuff with genuine heart and that's not easy to pull off. Something way different in this movie is how Santa Claus is presented is not the typical fat old man instead is a buff dude played by JK Simmons who runs his operation like a well oiled machine was brilliant and unexpected, also the North Pole is not only this magical place where elves work in Santa's workshop, it is a magical world with technology, magical creatures and more and at the moment that is known that Santa was kidnapped it is treated as a military mission. Here is where Callum Drift, the head of security and Santa bodyguard must save Santa and Christmas but he is in a moment where is getting tired of the job because adults are losing their Christmas spirit, with all this information we got The Rock trying to do his job but a Chris Evans that dont car about Christmas but is forced to save it.
The action sequences in this movie are absolutely insane and way more creative than I expected, the persecution scene when Callum is trying desperately to rescue Santa is insane, is not the typical car chase because here there's snow so you see futuristic sleds, another memorable scene is the moment when Callum and Jack arrived in Krampus Castle but more than a castle it looks like a tavern, when they visit him it's not just a quick scene to get information, it turns into this whole adventure where Jack and Callum have to survive Krampus's hospitality which includes drinking contests and slapping matches, the practical effects during these scenes are top notch and you can tell they put real money into making everything look believable instead of just relying on cheap CGI like most movies do nowadays. The mythology they build around Christmas and these holiday figures is actually pretty fascinating, it seems that the understanding and importance that is given to all these creatures is because they are real and deserve all the care and respect but keeping that world hidden from the regular people, it's similar to Men in Black but with Christmas characters instead of aliens and honestly it works better than it should. Lucy Liu shows up as this government agent who knows about this secret world and she brings this no nonsense attitude that helps ground some of the more ridiculous elements, in this point the movie give us that twist that instead the North Pole been hidden for everyone they work side by side with a government for their protection and Lucy Liu as the special agent must coordinate with Callum vital information to recover Santa.
The company behind the creation of this movie is Amazon and it seems that they really wanted to deliver a unique Christmas movie with a huge budget, starting in the way that the North Pole looks like, making memory to many movies about Christmas and the way how is revealed the North Pole here in Read One the North Pole is a massive high tech operation with flying reindeer and advanced security systems but it still feels magical and Christmas like rather than just cold and corporate, indeed it looks nothing as other movies with a classic North Pole where you can only see happiness, not on this movie. The costume design is very solid too, everyone looks like they belong to this world no matter the character that where playing, it was well done, nothing feels out of place or like it was rushed in post production. The Rock and Chris Evans create a great environment, each one with their particular role deliver what was needed to understand their positions, The Rock didn't need to use his well known signature the eyebrow raising thing, in this movie his humor comes from how seriously he takes his job as Santa bodyguard and Chris Evans gives the funny part with his character as a selfish hacker, even thought that Callum gets frustrated for the attitude of Jack at end it seems that both understand that needs to fight alongside to save Christmas and the way they do it make you believe that these tow have become real partners. Everything was planed in a very good way.
The movie isn't perfect though, there are definitely some pacing issues in the middle where things slow down a bit too much and some of the exposition about how this secret Christmas world works gets a little unknown but these are minor complaints in what's overall a really entertaining experience. The production of Red One give us a hint of the budget used in the movie but if you have seen it you can see where the money went, good actions scenes really comparable with superhero movies. It does feel a bit too long at over two hours but I never felt bored on the contrary I feel that the time used in the movie was necessary to first for Santa's kidnap, then the rescue plan, later known the kidnapper and the real motivations behind her actions and the resolution, there was some good character building, the way Callum and Jack open their hearts, understand their feelings and grow to accept what can't be changed and what can give us a better life. Read One match action, Christmas and emotions making a great combination for a cool movie, with good practical effects and CGI but I should mention that even thought the theme is Christmas the true is that this is not a movie for kids, there's some violence and adult humor, so is better for families with teenagers or only adults that want to enjoy something fun. I give Red One a solid 7/10 but not more than that, I might be a bit bias here, Im tired of The Rock doing movies honestly, and dont get me wrong but its just one of those movies that is a good one time watch but nothing crazy or revolutionary, in fact I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see something different from Christmas season.
Every now and then a film pops up on my radar with people in it that I do not recognize for the most part that has high ratings and at least somewhat, an interesting-sounding description of the overall plot. Then I see the word "thriller" and I get excited, because a well-done thriller is my favorite kind of movie in existence.
So I settled in to Hallow Road last night hoping to be entertained in a creative way because I had my doubts since I knew nothing about this film and had heard nothing about it. The only reason why I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger was because the ratings on it were quite high and well, i'll get into that in a minute.
The description was something like "two parents get a late night from their daughter about a late-night accident and a race against time to get to her before it is too late." I have paraphrased that from memory but it was something along those lines.
It starts out well enough, with a couple that is sleeping and clearly in a bit of distress as Mom wakes up and answers a late night phone call from her daughter who she is clearly annoyed with for reasons that we learn of later.
Now understand this: There are a couple of things that really annoy me in films and that is people talking extensively on the phone for the sake of reducing the budget and the other is when people argue for long periods of time over things that seem rather meaningless. And this film has both of those right from the start after the initial phone call.
When Mom is on the phone with daughter, Dad emerges from the bedroom and immediately wants to, NEEDS TO, be involved in every single word of the conversation that Mom is in the middle of. He keeps interrupting saying things like "let MEEEE talk to her" and "Where is she?" and other such things that a normal person would just wait until the conversation is done or their is a break in the conversation so he (or she) can get up to speed with what is going on. By him interrupting it just creates tension in both the scene and with me the viewer and it just makes you (the viewer) angry that he won't STFU.
Then they jump into the car to go meet up with their daughter and this is where the rest of the film takes place. In the car the couple continually tries to contact their daughter on the phone over and over and over again and said daughter inexplicably hangs up on them over and over and over again. It is at those points that the parents take a bit of time to argue with one another, when in a time of crisis like this one would think that they would form a very tight team dynamic given that their objective is to get to and help their daughter.
When I looked into a bit further, because I like to know how films are made, I am a bit impressed with all the gear involved in filming almost an entire film on the inside of a car, and I to find that impressive, but this doesn't really change the fact that an entire movie that takes place inside of a car is destined to be a bit boring. Also, the tension created by the increasingly panicky conversations with their daughter would dictate that maybe the parents would violate some road rules such as the speed limit when trying to get to her, but instead we can see the trees moving by out the passenger window at 4cm per second as if they were driving in a school zone when there is a police car nearby.
A few times they step on the gas to get there faster and of course, the other parent says "what are you doing? slow down" or something stupid like that. Lady, you know what I am doing, I want to get there faster and this little magic pedal on the ground enables me to do exactly that!.
90% of the film takes place inside of this car with these two arguing with one another about who gets to talk on the phone until one of them comes up with the brilliant idea of putting it on speaker. Thank the lord! But then they just continue to talk over one another in an increasingly frantic manner.
By the time the 1 hour and 20 minutes is over, I was extremely ready for that to be the case and while I will not spoil it for you, it was a very unfulfilling ending that doesn't make a great deal of sense given the information that we have been given up to that point. There is also a rather convenient incident of a police cruiser just happening to be nearby this very remote location that they were driving towards. That annoyed me but they needed it for the plot.
Should I watch it?
That trailer reveals far too much about the film IMO. It also gives the impression that this is some sort of wildly intense ride the entire way through but that simply is not the case. This film seems like something that would probably make for a decent book or perhaps a radio story before everyone had television, but as a film while I can appreciate what they are trying to do with very little money, it just doesn't land with me. Perhaps this is because thanks to the Koreans I have extremely high expectations of anything that is categorized as a "Thriller."
I feel as though this film got a bunch of reviews to get it up to a certain level on the major rating sites and many of them are not genuine. I can't imagine a normal person watching this movie and then thinking that it was something wildly entertaining. The entire film is just people bickering on the phone for an hour and 20 minutes of exposition.
I had hoped there would be a big payoff for sitting through and hour of frustration but unfortunately that was not the case. I look at the ratings for this on the major sites and can't help but feel like they were orchestrated by the creators and this is increasingly my opinion about a lot of films these days because it is probably easier to rig the ratings that it is to actually make a super-high-quality and inventive film.
I can't with good faith recommend that anyone watch this, especially not in theaters. It is not the fault of the actors though, I think they did the best they could with very limited resources and also space. The film performed quite poorly at the box office and this push with the high review scores now might be an attempt and garnering hype for the release on streaming. I don't know how this industry works but after watching it, that certainly seems like it might be the case.
Good production value considering the obviously low-budget nature of the film, but for me, this is simply not good. The story is sound and perhaps could have been good if they had shown more by taking the story out of the car a bit, but because it takes place almost entirely inside of a car with just the two main actors, it gets really old, really fast.
¡Hola Hola Comunidad! 💃🏻🎤.
Hello Hello Community! ✨, today's review I really think it had to come much earlier, because the film I'm going to talk about is now considered a classic, or at least a film known by many, and although I knew of its existence, for some reason that I still don't understand I hadn't had the chance to see it, for some reason that I still do not understand I had not had the opportunity to see it, this changed one night I saw in a tik tok video that it was being recommended and I realized that there was no reason to continue without seeing it 🤣, is for that reason that today we will talk about Mamma Mia! 💃🏻🎤

This film is based on a musical and has the incredible music of the group ABBA, so if it is the first time you hear this story at once I warn you that it is a musical, and I start with that detail because that is exactly what prevented me from seeing this movie because I really do not like musicals, so why I decided to give it a chance? the answer is simple, I love the music of the group ABBA 🤣 so I ended up enjoying the whole story because it is told through the music.
I have to admit that the rhythm of the story/dialogue and musicalisation feels pleasant until about halfway through the film, because when we approached the end I personally felt that there were already too many songs in a very short range of time, that is, there came a point where there was no more dialogue and everything was music and that made me think that the film was running out of time and they needed to put in all the missing songs, but keep in mind that this is the opinion of someone who is not a fan of musicals.
I thought the performances were incredible, yes it is true that there are moments when they feel very dramatic and that can make you feel that they are exaggerating the performances, but as the story is told I understood that this was precisely the object in some characters, because at the end of the day the whole film is a staging set to music, so from my perspective that makes the acting perfect, also most of the actors and actresses who participate are known to me so I know the quality of their work, and knowing them was what made me understand the objective of this dynamic and made me confirm that they do indeed have an incredible acting level.
The leading roles are played by Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried as Donna and Sophie, and I must say that their work is impeccable, not only for the acting but also for the musical performance, all their performances are a must-see gem in this film, and they manage to convey the meaning of this story. One of the things I liked most about this film is that, although there are love stories in the plot, these are secondary because the real message is in the love between mother and daughter, throughout the story we see them argue for various reasons, for issues of the wedding, for how unnecessary Donna finds marriage, for the presence of these 3 men, for Sophie's need to know who her father is, among others; until reaching the climax of the plot: to accept that they will always be Donna and Sophie, one for the other 💖, and that seems to me to be the best teaching that this film could leave.
I feel that the set design is an ambiguous point of the film, and there are moments where it looks spectacular and with an incredible attention to detail, and in other shots it looks more like a school recital set design than a film set design, I couldn't understand if there was a purpose behind it, I just know that it didn't convince me at all. As for the quality of the dialogue, I don't usually pay much attention to that (unless it's notoriously awful) and besides in this film what really matters is the music, it's through the music that the whole story is told, and the dialogue is used more as a connecting element between the musicalisation and the film.
If you are a person who enjoys musicals and you haven't seen this movie yet, I really don't understand why it hasn't happened, but if like me you are not a complete fan of this kind of stories, you can trust me when I say that you can enjoy this movie, although of course I love the musical group ABBA so maybe I am not someone reliable to recommend this story 🤭, I just know that I must repeat it to be able to see the second part 🤭.
Hello, cinema fans. Today we're going to talk about one of the best reboots ever made for one of the biggest franchises in the science fiction genre. That's right, I'm talking about the remake of the famous film series titled Planet of the Apes. This modern version is, without a doubt, one of the best movies I've ever seen in my entire life. The film was directed by Rupert Wyatt with a screenplay written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. It stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis. Discover one of the greatest masterpieces of modern cinema.

The film begins by showing us a huge forest that—I assume—resembles the Amazon. We see a group of chimpanzees walking when hunters arrive with their cars, guns, and traps. They take several apes and sell them to a biotechnology company in San Francisco called Gen-Sys. There, our protagonist and pharmaceutical chemist Will Rodmap is working on a new drug (ALZ-112) to cure Alzheimer's. When testing the drug on chimpanzees, they notice a remarkable development in intelligence and cognitive ability, especially in Bright Eyes. However, although this chimpanzee shows incredible results, when the project is presented to investors, everything gets out of control and ends in a huge disaster.

It's no exaggeration when I say that I've lost count of how many times I've seen this movie and its sequels. There was a time when I could only afford to watch movies on cheap CD/DVDs, and this was the one I watched most often at home. And no wonder, since it has everything anyone could want from a science fiction and action film that is unique in its style. It wasn't until recently that I got to see the original films in this great franchise, as I grew up watching Tim Burton's adaptation and later Rupert Wyatt's. Until then, I had no idea how popular and influential this franchise had become in the film industry over several decades, but only when I was older.
After the failure that was Tim Burton's adaptation of Planet of the Apes, it's a miracle that they decided to produce this project as part of a complete reboot of the franchise a decade later. The best decision they made was to move away from the theme of time/space travel and develop a story that was a bit more realistic and dystopian at the same time. This remake was, without a doubt, what everyone (especially the fans) had been waiting to see since the early 2000s. My opinion on all this is that, definitely, not all remakes are bad. But in this case, it was more than a success; it was a tribute to the seventh art and the best of cinema from the past decade.

Now, returning to my personal opinion, I would first like to mention how much I am fascinated by the story behind this film. Yes, I am a fan of the entire trilogy (Rise, Dawn, and War), but this first installment has many things that the other two do not. Starting with how they show us Caesar's entire origin and development with an introduction that is, personally, memorable. Just remembering the phrase "and as for Caesar, kneel..." is more than enough to know that he is going to be one of the best characters in the history of cinema. I'm also quite a fan of how the film dynamically shows us Caesar's growth over the years.
Before continuing, I would like to give you a little more context (without spoiling anything) about what you will see in this story. The film can be divided into two stories in one, as on the one hand we see how a pharmaceutical chemist creates what will be a drug that will wipe out humanity, while on the other hand we see the birth, development, and evolution of a new species of intelligent apes. Clearly, all of this is tied together by Will Rodmap's relationship with Caesar and how the series of events that occur in this film lead them both to take separate paths. This, beyond simply entertaining us with intelligent apes fighting armed humans, leaves us with important lessons as well.
These lessons can be drawn from various aspects of the film. For example, there is the case of Will Rodmap and his father, who has Alzheimer's disease, which is why he creates ALZ-112. From this, complex themes can be drawn, such as the helplessness of seeing a loved one become ill, grow old, and die, or the desperate behavior of wanting to do something to keep everything the same as before out of fear of change or loss. Another case is that of Will himself with Caesar, who from the beginning were like father and son. From this, we can learn about the theme of abandonment and confinement. What Caesar initially believed to be his home turned out to be a prison not so different from what he later experienced.
As you can see, another detail in favor of this film—apart from its story—is its characters. Here we can definitely empathize very well with an intelligent ape like Caesar, for example. His life and all the events he goes through to find his true home are even worthy of admiration. And yes, it may sound quite exaggerated coming from a simple chimpanzee, but that's how it is. Apart from seeing him grow and mature, we also see how Caesar begins to doubt his own existence and origin. This, which would normally take a human being decades to even think about, is reflected in the eight years of life that this ape has barely lived. We also see what can be described as his "character development", which is unbeatable.
I could say more positive things about Caesar, taking into account not only this film but the entire trilogy, and state unequivocally that he is one of the best characters in the history of modern cinema, without a doubt. But I also want to mention certain issues regarding the other characters we meet in this film. And for this, I would like to mention a curious point about what some people may think about this story. Those who think that human extinction was caused by apes are simply people who have completely misunderstood the message conveyed by this work. It was humans themselves who became extinct through their own fault. What was a small mistake or accident ended in catastrophe.
And if you ask me, this is one of the most ironic things you can find in a science fiction film of this kind. To think that what caused the extinction of humanity was actually a supposed cure for Alzheimer's sounds more like a bad joke than anything else. But I think that in this case it works so well because the same drug caused the birth of a new intelligent species. Here, many may think about the subject of evolution and all that, and even I thought that the film gives certain messages and clear hints that it is inspired by that theory. However, beyond that, what we really see is something more human and emotional than it seems.
With this, I would like to highlight how a simple chimpanzee can teach us more about life than any self-help book. Throughout the film, we see how Caesar goes through various problems and obstacles, such as abandonment, for example. Loneliness and feeling excluded, different, and misunderstood is something that many of us may have experienced. Sometimes we may feel trapped or imprisoned by external factors, but in the end, we can only depend on ourselves and not on others. Expecting something from someone else and being dependent on external happiness always ends in pain and regret. That is why it is best to find your place in life and chart your own course, no matter what.
Leaving aside my poor philosophical skills, I admit that this film is perfect in practically every way. Its story, its characters, and the way it conveys so many things to us are among the best. But what fascinates me most is the way the film develops everything so that its third act is simply a cinematic masterpiece. Epic moments that, when you watch them over and over again, you can't help but get excited about. Sequences that are simply a masterclass in modern cinema. Confrontations and outcomes that blow your mind and make you think. You can even see this film as an indirect message about slavery, animal abuse, human cruelty, and freedom.
Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this film. With a budget of just under $100 million, we have what is a successful, blockbuster, and acclaimed film from the past decade that shows us that cinema at that time was at its peak. We can confirm this just by looking at the incredible work that went into this film in terms of photography style, moving cameras, sequences, transitions, and so on. There is also the issue of visual effects, which is crazy in itself. The use of motion capture and the hyper-realistic design of the apes is so flawless that it is surprising to think that every ape that appears in the film is an actor in a suit with balls stuck all over it.
Apart from the incredible visual effects, motion capture, expressions, and flawless use of CGI, there are also the practical effects, which aren't bad either. The different aerial views of the city, the shots in open or closed environments, the use of light and shadow, and the film's color palette are also noteworthy. The sound effects are also excellent, but nothing like the sounds of the apes communicating with each other, which, I remind you, are actors imitating apes, yes. But what definitely makes it deserve a 10 is undoubtedly its incredible soundtrack, which is simply a perfect and unbeatable symphony. In short, this is another movie you have to see, no matter what.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved 10/10 rating in terms of the science fiction and action genre.

I woke up very early... No, it was like that, I didn't sleep all night long, how crazy! I haven't slept for several days. However, I decided to put on my best smile and enjoy my coffee. I sat down in front of the TV in the kitchen, and played with the remote, and surprise, they were showing Bewitched, the 2005 movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, and I can tell you that after growing up with the Samantha and Darrin, in the original series, this film for me succumbed before its premiere.
A chronicle of death foretold, sorry for Nicole Kidman, but for me Will Ferrell is not good as and besides this couple does not fit even with soldimix. Between tastes and colors, I don't like it. However, in this opportunity I am going to give you my appreciation of the series Bewitched from 1964. Remembering my childhood with the first television in my home.
Wow!
I have beautiful memories of my childhood and I consider that I was a happy child, because I was given a lot of love. I see myself there, sitting in the little chair that my uncle Máximo gave me, with my cup of coffee with milk and sweet bread. I am engrossed in watching television. My beloved Zorro and his horse Tornado, Dr. Smith and Lost in Space and others. The first television at home caused a sensation, I remember everyone gathered in front of it.
For mom, the first thing was to do school homework. I was behind my older siblings. Two days before Christmas, Dad arrived with a big box and behind him, neighbors and friends, curious to see what it was all about. Anyone who has lived in a neighborhood knows what it's like? Moses behind, giving orders and locating the place where the box should be placed. Since I was a kid my older brother was like that, and the younger ones were his soldiers. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha
It was placed in the corner of the dining room, where no one would touch it. My first little house in Cumana, I still remember it with a big hallway. It was a gift for everyone, and I was dazzled:
Television!
I couldn't believe it. It was a very strong time and I used to sell Rosita's ice cream in a company van and earned commissions. We used to go in the afternoons to the Plaza de los enamorados, where they put up a television and a lot of people gathered there. Especially when there were boxing fights, soap operas, and series.
Mr. Felix, what is that? a child asked, and my daddy, always with his jokes, told him:
Watch out! That little animal bites. The poor thing did not dare to go near the television.
In the living room of my house there was not enough room for so many little boys. Actually, in my parents' house there were always a lot of people, of all ages. Whoever wanted to study came to Uncle Chachaito's house; nephews, nieces, godchildren, friends of friends. How did Dad and Mom manage to feed us all? It's a real mystery, I still don't know, but no one went without food. Mom acted like the school principal, she would say at the door:
-He who has not done his homework, does not enter". Run, it's still early, and he replied:
“Pedrito did you learn the seven times table?”
-They all bathe me".
Mom and Dad enjoyed the program "Renny presents. There I saw Henry Stephen for the first time, and when he introduced Miriam Makeba with the “pata pata”, that was in 1968. There are other programs that I also remember: The Lone Ranger, Cisco kids, Daniel Boone, Bonanza, Rondan, El Temerario or Flash Gordon, and others. Among my favorites is Bewitched.
Since I saw Samantha I was dazzled like every little girl, I saw that she could do everything by wiggling her pretty nose. I was trying, but when it goes I never succeeded. A comic series, romantic and with a bit of drama. They say “behind a good man there is a great woman”, I think it is true because Darrin got into every problem and it was always Samantha who saved him.
Poor Darrin! Can you imagine a mother-in-law like Endora. Living in terror that any day she might turn into a toad. I've always wanted to have Samantha's powers. Imagine, #Movies&Shows friends, that the house will be clean just by wiggling the aforementioned nose.
Oh la la la
I'm one of the team, the kind that doesn't like housework. In tic toc, there's a girl who gave her allergy, the broom, the cunt, washing the dishes, the washing machine and even the iron. She gave away everything because it causes her stress.
Poor thing!
There are women who suffer a lot, they live with the broom and the pansy in their hands. She has an obsession for painting the walls. OMG! “Well, it's cilantro, but not that much” as we Venezuelans say. I don't think you have to be extreme, or stop enjoying good company and coffee because you have to iron. I know there are Hivers girls out there, who also want Hechizada's little nose.
My big nose, it must be good for something, even if I don't move it. But at this point I don't know what it is. I keep dreaming of a "traslador", which is more comfortable for traveling or flying carpet, to have breakfast with Rosalba in Chile, at noon visit @elizabeths14 for a delicious Ecuadorian dish, have dinner with Gaby in Panama. In the evening, wine and sing with @angelica7 in Buenos Aires.

No podía creerlo.
As I told you, it is one of my favorite series, however, on reflection, this series has some subliminal messages, like giving up being themselves, turning your back on family and friendships in the name of love. Darrin is a man without aspirations. Endora, as a self-respecting mother-in-law, considers the human to be beneath her. She is also a controlling, narcissistic and unbearable mother
From their marriage they have two children, the first is Tabitha, and from birth she has magical powers. Then Adam was born. Gladys Kravitz, the typical neighborhood gossip, always glued to her window, prying into the lives of others. With a husband who pays no attention to her and only reads the newspaper and watches television. Both are classic marriages of that era.
Of all of Samantha's family, I loved Aunt Clara, to me a cute character. A shy, elderly woman, who no one cares about her feelings, and most relevant she has no powers. This series was premiered in 1964 until 1972. It consisted of eight seasons and was broadcasted by ABC.
Did you know?
" Another of the show's most memorable moments had to do with the show's animated opening, which over the years became an icon of television and of the era. The intro was done by Hanna-Barbera Productions..." For more information visit aquí
OMG! I dropped my cedula. I was six years old when I saw Bewitched for the first time, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha.
I am fascinated by the intro of this TV series, I leave it to the hivers of my time to remember it. Samantha riding her broom, well groomed and made up. I urgently need a magic wand, a little nose, or whatever, because after doing household chores or being in “cachifa” mode, I get tired and don't feel like anything, just to put my feet up and go to sleep.
Love is love, and when you're in love, it doesn't matter if they are princes, toads or witches. Cupid is not blind, friends of the #Movies&TVShows community, it's us who put on a blindfold, and we put qualities on it, we do crazy things and we obviate what is obvious. ouch, mom! And after marriage come the regrets.
But when love is true, that's where the real magic is, and it can have happy endings.

I'm not sure I heard anything about this film when it was released because I don't remember it being on my radar until a few months (maybe weeks) ago when it appeared in an Instagram post. Shortly after, I learned that Irrfan Khan, the star of this film, turned down the opportunity to work with Christopher Nolan because he was already committed to this project. With just those two pieces of background information and no context about the story or plot of the film, I set out to watch it a few nights ago.
Before I dive into the film, I need to give you a little context. India is the most populous country in the world, and Mumbai is one of its most densely populated cities (we're talking about 24,000 inhabitants per square kilometer). As you can imagine, taking transportation, getting stuck in traffic, or simply getting around the city must be very complicated, which only adds to the mystery of the dabbawalas' efficiency. In Hindi, a dabba is a lunchbox, usually made of metal (aluminum) and cylindrical in shape, with several containers for storing food, and is used to transport food. Hence, the dabbawalas are the people responsible for delivering these lunchboxes. Now, given the high population density of Mumbai, there are many companies, offices, and jobs there, so people from the outskirts of the city often seek and find work there. Every day, thousands of housewives prepare lunch for their partners and send the food to their workplaces through the dabbawalas. Some will eat at a restaurant near the office, of course, and perhaps others can go home for lunch, but most cannot. Why don't they take food prepared at home with them when they leave for work? I don't know. Perhaps it's because they leave very early for work or prefer to consume food prepared with greater freshness, but the fact is that tens of thousands of lunches are transported daily by these dabbawalas throughout the city in a system with 99.99% effectiveness and an error rate of 1 in 6,000,000. How do they do it? That is part of the charm and also the mystery.
So, in that context, it's all the more surprising when one day, one of these deliveries arrives at the wrong place. Saajan Fernandes (Irrfan Khan) receives a dabba in his office with a delicious meal that was not meant for him, but the first person to notice is not him—who thanks the restaurant that sends him his lunches for the dedication on that day's menu—but Ila (Nimrat Kaur), the woman who prepared it for her husband Rajiv, who has eaten something else (the menu that was originally supposed to go to Saajan). When the mistake is repeated the next day, Ila begins to leave notes in the dabba for Saajan, and soon a kind of correspondence is established between the two strangers.
Before the advent of cell phones, the internet, and apps, many people left messages in the dabba—notes for their spouses, news, reminders, etc.—but no one does that anymore. Saajan is surprised to find the first note, but he responds, and over the next few weeks, the two begin to share increasingly personal things with each other. Ila's marriage is far from perfect, her parents are going through a difficult situation, and her only companions seem to be her sweet daughter, her noisy aunt and neighbor, and now this guy who is eating the meals she prepares. For his part, Saajan, after 35 years of service at the same company, has decided to retire. It's his last month of work, and he's a lonely, distant, serious widower. They couldn't be more different, but the two discover how they can understand and accompany each other even without knowing each other. Through the relationship between Saajan and Ila, The Lunchbox helps explore the corners of human loneliness, understanding, trust, secrets, identity, the weight of the past, wounds, and hope. I wouldn't say it's a love story per se; that is, yes, there's love in that exchange and openness with a stranger to whom we reveal and expose our soul, but I think that love stems a little from empathy, from understanding another human being whom we love, but not necessarily linking that idea to courtship or romance between two people. I think rather that Saajan and Ila are friends who find each other at the moment when—without knowing it—they needed each other most.
I liked the technical aspects of the film, the photography, editing, and script, especially the sequences showing the work of the dabbawalas, which were filmed as if they were a documentary and never cease to impress me with the precision of the service. If, in a food delivery app in the West, with just a handful of orders, all from a single restaurant, I still receive the wrong order, how do the dabbawalas manage to deliver almost 200,000 lunch boxes a day without making a mistake? It's impressive.
The story is interesting and the script is well written enough to make it entertaining, thought-provoking, and dynamic. However, I think the film owes a lot to the performances of its two leads. Nimrat Kaur is charming and convincing as Ila in all her facets—mother, wife, cook, daughter, and woman. For his part, Irrfan Khan does everything right. By committing to this project, the actor, who has worked extensively in Hollywood (Inferno, Life of Pi, Jurassic World, and the memorable Slumdog Millionaire), turned down Christopher Nolan's offer to join Interstellar in a role that was later given to Matt Damon because the schedule required four months of filming in the West, which Khan was unable to do. Seeing how everything turned out, I think it was meant to be. Damon does a good job on that interplanetary base, and I don't know if any other Indian actor could have played Saajan as well as Khan did. A man of few words, with long, serious looks, big eyes, morally correct, a heart as kind as it is wounded, Saajan is a character who is endearing, I think, thanks to Khan's performance, and he is the greatest success in The Lunchbox, which, without being a perfect film, is very enjoyable. I also don't understand why the country's film academy decided to send another film to represent it at the Oscars that year, but critics, audiences, and above all, time, have managed to give this emotional and melancholic story its place of honor. It reflects on the pleasures of life, emotions, the value of pursuing dreams, the weight of customs, and the passage of time, among other things. How many of you have seen this film? I look forward to reading your comments.

The soundtrack is fine within what is possible, it is a comedy film so there is not much that this section can contribute to the almost scarce narrative of it.

The construction of the world is quite fun, although the premise of the film is quite simple, this section mixes the scenery of sport with the idiotic jokes of the tape, which makes it feel integrated organically with the premise.

The plot is completely absurd, stupid and fool, this trinity of nonsense are the ones that make the tape feel extremely entertaining product of all the diverse funny situations that it has to its credit. Narrating there is not much to highlight, very like most films in which this actor has participated this film is concentrated in having a style on substance, although it is very funny that without prior notice there are completely incurred situations on the screen, and, despite the fact that it sounds strange, you do not disregard the strange and chaotic rhythm of the tape, in turn, this same wild rhythm of stupidities. Very digestible and funny in equal parts.

The characters are characterized by being a joke in themselves more than for anything else, taking into consideration the nature of the film This is a complete success, in addition, their characters are stupid enough to make the tape even more fun both for its actions and for its personal particularities [(there is a guy that has a wooden hand jajaja) and this applies both for the main character, the antagonist and the secondary.3
Happy Gilmore is a film that could be considered the definition of what an Adam Sandler tape is in most cases, it has all kinds of silly that are completely delayed and fun in equal parts, the fact that this is always happening only only makes it even more dynamic and entertaining. It is for all the above that it deserves 3.5 stars of 7, if you like the humor that this actor usually handles in their films it is undoubtedly a more than mandatory event.

Happy Gilmore 2 arrived after almost 30 years and the truth is that I didn't know whether to laugh or cry because of what they did to the character I loved so much, when I started watching it I thought it was going to be the best after waiting so long and after all I heard that they went through to make the movie, but it wasn't what I imagined. The first half of the movie was pretty good and I really liked how they handled the return of Happy, Adam Sandler still has the charisma for this role although he is not the same as before for obvious reasons of age, but he still manages to transmit that crazy energy that made him so funny in the original. The problem is that when the second half arrives everything goes to hell with that ridiculous maxi golf tournament that has no head or tail, it's as if they had made two completely different movies and stuck them together hoping it would work. The use of John Daly was great and I loved seeing him living at Happy's place doing crazy things, Happy's kids were also fun although sometimes I think they were filler to put more Sandler family characters, but that's typical of him. Some professional golfers showed up and that was good although some of them felt super forced as if they were just there to fulfill a contract, but at least they didn't ruin anything as it happened with other characters later in the movie. Ben Stiller returned as Hal and while it was nice to see him again, he didn't give me that scary vibe that his character did in the first part.
The plot basically is that Happy is already retired and has five children, four boys and a girl, but when his wife dies by accident almost in the first three minutes of the movie he falls into trouble with alcohol and has to go back to golf to get money for his daughter's ballet school. To me it seemed that killing the wife so quickly was very forced as an excuse to give motivation to the character, it's the typical cheap trick to give pity without trying so hard but well it's done. The kids are good in their acting although you can tell some are Adam Sandler's real children and others if they are actors this is an obvious difference but normal swolo that is rare sometimes. Shooter McGavin's character returns and Christopher McDonald does what he can with the material he was given, but he is no longer the main bad guy but rather an odd ally of Happy, which works but I would have liked more conflict between the two of them. Here the bad guy is a weird guy played by Benny Safdie who doesn't really seem like a threat at all, he looks and acts ridiculous, it seems like they put him there just because they needed someone to play the bad guy without thinking much about how to develop the character. Things get weird when the maxi golf starts which is supposedly more exciting than normal golf but in reality it's all nonsense, there are absurd obstacles, the green turns, there is fire everywhere and rules that change every five minutes depending on what the story needs, no tension because you don't know who is winning until they tell you.
The cameos come in all over the place and some work but others are more like to gain audience, Bad Bunny appears as a caddy and although the guy has charisma, his role is unnecessary beyond putting in a Latino celebrity to broaden the audience, Eminem also comes in and his death was funny but it was like a one time joke without much weight. Travis Kelce plays a waiter and his scene was super cringe, you could tell he didn't know how to act and was only there because he's famous in NFL, Post Malone appears as a DJ but doesn't say anything important, he's just standing there existing. Reggie Bush also appears but I don't even remember what he did because his participation was so short that it almost doesn't count, it's as if they invited all his famous friends without thinking about how to use them well. The truth is that so many cameos distract from the main story and make the movie seem more like a music video than a comedy that should make sense. The humor sometimes works but other times it falls super flat, there are jokes that made me laugh a lot like when Happy goes to those speed dating and does something with the dating algorithm to make all the women run away or when his sons get into fights because Happy taught them that they can only fight in the basement, I think those moments do show the spirit of the original. But there are also super awkward moments like that scene with Eric Andre, Margaret Qualley and Rob Schneider's son that was torture, I really don't know what Adam Sandler was thinking when he decided to keep that part in the final cut.
The truth is that Happy Gilmore 2 the first half worked well and I was hooked and thought they had finally managed to make a decent sequel, but then it all fell apart when that stupid tournament came along that broke all the rules that made the original special. In Happy Gilmore 1 the sport mattered and there was real tension because you knew the rules of golf and could follow what was going on, here it's pure mindless chaos where they can do whatever they can think of to solve any situation. The cemetery scene where Happy fights Shooter using the tombstones was fun but it was like a weaker version of the fight with Bob Barker, it lacked that surprise that the original had, here you know they are going to fight and end up being friends. The ending doesn't add up either, after so much drama and so much stuff everything is resolved in two minutes with a super convenient solution, Bad Bunny gets dizzy and passes out causing the ball to fall in the hole by accident, like it was an episode of the three stooges. I was annoyed that they never quite resolved the daughter and ballet school thing, at the end she gets the money but I never knew if she's really going or if it's worth it it was like they forgot about that part of the movie which was really the crux of it all. The theme of Happy's alcoholism is also handled super superficial they put it in at the beginning to generate sympathy but then they almost don't even mention it I think it would have been an opportunity to explore deeper themes but they preferred to stay superficial and make more jokes about cameos.
I think Happy Gilmore 2 is a movie that could have been much better if they had focused on what really mattered instead of trying to please everyone with unnecessary cameos and special effects. You might find some things to like awui but in the first half and then in the second half you might feel disappointed as I did and anyone who hasn't seen the first one is going to be completely lost because the movie assumes you know all these characters without bothering to introduce them properly. You can tell that Adam Sandler wanted to do something special to celebrate Happy Gilmore's legacy but he got carried away with wanting to throw all his friends in and do something supposedly epic instead of concentrating on telling a good story. I give Happy Gilmore 2 a 6/10, the movie has its good moments to keep you entertained but it's not something I'm going to watch again and for me it doesn't live up to the original I'd rather remember Happy Gilmore as it was before, if you're a fan I suggest you watch it with your expectations low because this is more of the same with less heart.
