  1. Review Netflix Movie: Happy Gilmore 2@edwarlyn11303d

Instagram Post Nutrición Dieta Sencillo Gris Beige_20250828_192303_0001.png

Hello my dear Hive readers and film lovers ❤️, today I want to share a movie I watched last weekend. I was looking for a more relaxing, comedic option, and a few days ago I saw this recommendation on Netflix for the second part of Happy Gilmore. I think watching and enjoying Adam Sandler's humor would be the perfect family plan, even though most of his films are for adults. The truth is, I didn't remember much about the first part, although honestly, watching this second one without remembering the first doesn't affect it, since it's like a new beginning.

We start with Adam Sandler playing Happy, an old and famous golfer who in his time was at the top of his game, with fame, money, family, happiness, everything he wanted, until one day, a sad day, something tragic happened. His wife, his better half, and the mother of his children died because of him, at a time when, unfortunately, she was in the same direction he hit the ball. That event changed his life, causing his downfall and the loss of everything he had achieved. Sunk into alcohol, living in a lower-class neighborhood, and many years later, his children have become independent and have their responsibilities, except for his daughter, who lives with him and has the great dream of becoming a dancer, but it is a very expensive dream that Happy cannot afford.

In a very entertaining part where we see Happy struggling with his alcohol addiction and trying to return to being that famous and talented athlete to win a juicy money as a reward from a golf tournament, although things will not be so easy, his passion and desire to fulfill his daughter's dream will be in his favor to achieve it.

  2. Happy Gilmore 2|Review [ENG-ESP]@davidpena21307d

    Source

The world of cinema never stops, and it's incredible how new productions achieve a huge impact and thus become a success. This is something every director strives for with their film. This is something that has happened recently, with some very good and others not so good, but ultimately, they are part of that cinematic process. The same thing happened with a film on the major platform Netflix, where the first installment was released in 1996. Hearing its name again, continuing the story, and thus continuing the legacy of film quality is admirable, since something like this can't always be achieved in the world of cinema. So this second part will be a whole new adventure full of action and that touch of humor that characterizes both films.

This film is known as Happy Gilmore 2, which was a big surprise for many by the very fact of being able to continue with the story, since it is a very well-crafted film and every detail allows us to learn about situations that life presents when having to fight for each of the things that one wants and that is why this time the story continues of a great professional golfer who has dedicated his entire life to that great sport, however this return is of great importance for the good of a person in his life and it is here where the film plays with very good elements and leads us to wonder: Can he get what he is looking for? Will he win that golf competition? And many others that will be part of this second part of the film.

This is a film that is suitable for all ages due to the way it is developed, as it serves as motivation for all those young people who like some type of sport and have that dream of being able to win and continue climbing in said sports area, just as this same one happens to see how that great father will give his best to be able to win and achieve what he is looking for. Beyond that, if we compare it with the first original installment, you can notice a great difference between quality and the way in which life situations are presented, since there will always be those challenges that add value to the film, as well as each of the rivals in order to give much more time when it comes to achieving things. Without a doubt, golf plays a big role here and the age difference does not matter, since everyone can play since each one has a challenge and objective to overcome in order to reach the top and even more so when it comes to the family, which will always be the most important thing in this life.

Everything is very well presented, which allows us to understand the whole new adventure of the movie Happy Gilmore 2, despite maintaining some original things from the first one in order to achieve that memory of nostalgia and sadness in it, as well as each of those scenes where humor plays a big role in giving it much more emotion and this is something that this director incorporates in his films and that allows it to make a difference. Many other new things were also added to the film such as the presence of great very famous actors and thus be able to give it a space in it, where we can notice great golf players who are legends and serve as motivation to continue with this sport, in addition to part of the family as main actors, which are perfect to be able to continue with the legacy of the film knowing the great number of years that exist between the first and second.

It was a great result and they will be the two best comedy films that have been released in recent times in terms of films of this genre, for the same reason of knowing how to include very good aspects in the film, as it was also worth being able to wait all that time and for them to release this second part in order to be able to present all of that and each of the values that are there in the film, which serves as motivation, inspiration and that in these lives you can achieve, just as a simple game can solve many things as long as the rules are very clear and thus be able to enjoy something very good as presented in this second installment of Happy Gilmore.

  3. Happy Gilmore 2 is pretty funny [ENG/ESP]@ibet320d

Hey, community! I'm so happy to be back here. A few days ago, I watched Happy Gilmore 2 (which is available on Netflix) because my partner wanted to see it, so we got right on it. I'll be honest: I didn't see Happy Gilmore, so I came to this sequel without knowing who Happy was, but that didn't stop me from enjoying Happy Gilmore 2 as a comedy with funny moments, some drama, and a protagonist who, although disastrous, has charisma.

The film follows Happy, a man who was once famous in the world of golf but is now going through a pretty dark period in his life. He has a teenage daughter who wants to study dance in Paris, and he, with financial and emotional problems, decides to return to golf to help her. What follows is a mix of tournaments, confrontations with influencers, and many absurd moments that made me laugh. What I liked most was Adam Sandler's performance. I've never been a fan of his, but here he manages to portray a broken man with a good heart who is trying to do the right thing. There are scenes where you can see the emotional wear and tear on the character, and I found that very human. I also liked the relationship with his daughter, played by Sunny Sandler.

Visually, the film is fine. It has some rather exaggerated golf scenes, but that's part of its charm. It's not an elegant or subtle comedy, but it doesn't pretend to be. It's loud, physical, and sometimes a little clumsy. I could tell that it was meant to pay tribute to several golfers who appear in the film, which I really liked.

If you're looking for a lighthearted comedy with an endearing protagonist and don't mind not understanding all the inside jokes, you don't need to have seen the first one to connect with the story, although you'd probably enjoy it more if you did. For me, it was a pleasant surprise, and maybe now I'll be encouraged to watch the original. I hope you enjoyed today's post. For now, I'll say goodbye. Thank you very much for reading, and see you later in another post ❤️

  4. Happy Gilmore 2 - A Hole-in-One or a flop? [ENG/SPA]@danielcarrerag325d

I finally got to watch the sequel to Happy Gilmore 2, which premiered on Netflix on July 25th. It's caused a lot of debate among audiences and critics, and I've got my own thoughts to share today. Like all Adam Sandler movies, it's a Happy Madison Productions film, and it's rated PG-13, which means you're in for some dark humor and a ton of cameos.

As someone who grew up watching Sandler's early movies, I'm pretty satisfied with what this sequel offers. It's goofy, harmless humor that's typical of 90s comedy—the kind with burps, farts, slapstick violence, quotes from other characters, and, of course, a lot of double-entendres. It'll get a laugh out of you here and there, but that's about it.

    imgi_42_MV5BZmQ3ZGVhMWEtYWQ1My00OTJkLTg3MGQtZjlkZDQ3Y2EyZjRkXkEyXkFqcGc@.V1.jpeg

It makes sense that it's so similar to the first film because it's literally a continuation. Happy, the main character, has a family, five kids, became a legend, and earned a ton of money from golf. But after his wife dies in an accident, he spirals into alcoholism and loses his fortune. When his youngest daughter gets a chance to study ballet at a prestigious school, he needs to find a way to pay for it, which forces him to return to golf. Getting back in shape and back in the game is a tough road for him.

    imgi_2_MV5BZGVlN2ZlZjItNzg3NS00MzAyLTg2MjAtYWY4MjY0MmIzMDQyXkEyXkFqcGc@.V1.jpeg

The movie tries to fit in with the modern trend of bringing back older stories, so it's "the same, but different," but it really just feels like a bunch of fan service from start to finish. I personally think the story has enough new elements to feel fresh, but maybe that's just my nostalgic side talking. The cameos are good, which I was hoping for—Eminem's is great, but Post Malone's left a lot to be desired.

    imgi_3_MV5BMWRmMjc5MzYtYWE4Mi00NjE1LTk4MjUtZWQzM2M3NzhlYWE1XkEyXkFqcGc@.V1_FMjpg_UX2160.jpeg

Even though I got some good laughs out of it, the movie still feels like just another Netflix movie. I have a problem with the platform; I feel like a lot of their films are randomly made and just try to be good, and unfortunately, Happy Gilmore 2 falls into that category. It was a fun, nostalgic experience for me, but for a lot of people, it might feel empty and lacking in spark—especially if you haven't seen the first one and don't understand the humor of that era.

  5. 'Happy Gilmore 2' Review: More or less the same thing, but too long@namiks331d

    Happy.Gilmore.2.2025.1080p.WEB.h264-ETHEL-0001.png

It's far too hot in Armenia to be going outside often. While I'm utterly bored inside reducing my general sun exposure, I've been trying to find films to watch to pass some of the time. It came to no surprise that Happy Gilmore received a sequel recently, with some people here on Hive reviewing it as well as people online elsewhere discussing the film. Honestly, I think it's surprising that Sandler waited this long to get it going, and didn't just do so back when reboots and remakes were being funded from every angle imaginable. Especially with how Sandler is known for using his own production companies to hire his friends and make absolute nonsense while handing them fat paychecks (speaking of, note how the director of Happy Gilmore 2's name is Kyle Newacheck). Remember, Sandler was once one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood despite his films being box office and critic rejects. Anyway, I do admit that sometimes I miss these types of comedies. Sandler at one point was the last one standing. And it feels like it has been forever since idiotic slapstick humour was found on the big screen.

Despite wanting more films like this to return, there are some parts of it that I'm not happy about and would prefer to not see: AI used in film. Anyone paying a bit of attention to the opening scene would've noticed that it heavily relied on AI generated scenes, showcasing a younger Adam Sandler. There was no tricky editing here, no regular special effects. If you look closely you can see hands morphing, straight up missing, and that usual hiccup of AI just not managing to handle 3D shapes and environments all that accurately. It was disappointing to see the film industry go this route, though with Netflix being the soulless corporation it is, I'm not that surprised to see it. Particularly given they've openly admitted to recently using it elsewhere across their original catalogue. If AI stuff is something you'd rather avoid, then from the very start I'd just say don't bother watching this. I wasn't aware at the time, so I decided to stick with it. Happy.Gilmore.2.2025.1080p.WEB.h264-ETHEL-0002.png Happy Gilmore 2 is your typical sequel bait: our protagonist is now washed up and struggling to get by. His glory days now behind him as he struggles to adapt to the modern world and its requirements. Now a father with many children, Happy is stuck in the routine of retail work and financial struggles. Having once capitalised on the fame, it's no longer working now he's in retirement. Now drinking constantly, Happy has very little motivation for anything, just getting by. Now he's worried about the futures of his children, and needs to raise cash to support their upcoming studies. A pretty simple setup, one that isn't too different from most sequels. Though here Happy isn't passing down the torch, it's still very much within his hands. With a new competition coming up, he figures it's about time he came out of retirement and tried to make some money again. About $300,000. Though Happy, having been retired for so long, has to learn golf from the ground up again. Though this is also met with the usual cameos and silly humour that we'd expect, but it did feel a bit more decreased than usual. More reliant on references to the first film if anything.

In the usual tiresome montage sequence, we see a series of references to the real world too and its pop culture. This is definitely where the film will never be timeless. So many sudden pop culture faces popping up as someone appears on numerous podcasts that do actually exist. I don't know why so many sequel titles insist on doing these, as if to attempt to find modern audiences through marketing with real life shows that have more relevance than the brand and actor does in the present. This is all to say that it is very much a soulless Sandler title. There's no reason for one to assume it'd be something of quality, just something that is a bit more visually appealing due to the more artistic people now roaming around Hollywood as the technology has improved. That is also to admit that the directing and cinematography isn't that bad. It looks like there was some preference from the cinematographer in which lenses to use and the effects given from them. It has a more cinematic look compared to the original, that's for sure.

    Happy.Gilmore.2.2025.1080p.WEB.h264-ETHEL-0003.png

I think the film would've been better if it wasn't so long. There was no reason for it to have the lengthy runtime it does, and I think that leads to some boredom, where the jokes aren't enough and there's too much filler in the story. This should be a comedy, but for something that struggles to take itself seriously, it really throws a lot of characters at you with plenty of little events that there's no need for. So little to care about. The setup is simple, the main character is there. There's a few cameos, and that should've been enough.

  6. A Geeky Guy's Guide To Happy Gilmore 2@hanshotfirst332d

This one has no caveats. Although I guess it can't hurt if you saw the original Happy Gilmore in the theater and nearly died laughing during it. I would imagine the nostalgia I felt for the first film helped fuel my enjoyment of this one.

If this were the first time meeting Happy Gilmore and his family I don't know if I would have liked the movie as much as I did. The fact that Happy already had a long standing relationship with the audience made it easy to root for him and to overlook some of the movie's shortcomings.

To be honest, Happy Gilmore was exactly what I hoped it would be. It was not as funny as the first one (that would have been nearly impossible) but that was OK. Just like I grew up since seeing the original almost 30 years ago, so did Happy Gilmore and its writers. Instead of relying on over-the-top absurd humor, this one leaned a little bit more on the heart. i didn't almost die laughing, but I was smiling the entire time. The writers actually came up with a pretty good plat to explain why this movie was going to be very similar to the original. In the first movie, Happy needed money to help his beloved Grandma. Nearly 30 years later it is his only daughter who he needs to win for. It is a pretty simple idea that created a vehicle for some laughs. And a lot of those laughs come from the rest of Happy's family. I was really amused buy his four sons who had inherited Happy's super aggressive "hockey gene". Even though they were ridiculous meatheads, their was still love for their dad and sister there. That is where the heart I spoke of comes in.

But Happy's best relative is down on his luck ex-golfer John Daley... played by down on his luck ex-golfer John Daley. I think he was supposed to be Happy's brother-in-law but I'm not quite sure. But it didn't matter. John Daley living in Happy's garage just seemed to make sense. He is more like a pet than a brother, but that made it even funnier. John Daley isn't the only cameo. This movie is jam packed with them. Many are callbacks to the original movie. But some are truly original like NFL player Travis Kelce playing an asshole waiter and the foil for the second best cameo (next to Daley) by musical artists Bad Bunny. He plays a bus boy who becomes Happy's caddy. I may be biased because I like a lot of the good work Bad Bunny has done in the real world, but I was shocked at how good his comedic timing was.

Some people may be turned off by the fact that Sandler cast his daughters in two important roles, but one of them is his daughter in the movie. I know my daughter would kill me if I cast someone else instead of her. Who can play my daughter better than my daughter? And once she was in it, you have to cast the other one if you ever want a peaceful Hanukkah. So I actually thought it made the movie more endearing.

So should you watch this? If you are a fan of the original happy Gilmore, you honestly have no choice. You simply must watch it. Otherwise you won't get to see our our old pal is doing. If you haven't seen Happy Gilmore yet, watch that first. If you like it, I bet you will appreciate this one too.

Adam Sandler is one of the actors I enjoy watching the most because he perfectly understands the meaning of the comedy genre. Happy Gilmore is the perfect example, and this sequel maintains the essence of its predecessor, which was released almost 30 years ago, in 1996 to be exact. I don't know if a sequel to the story of this very particular character was necessary, but after seeing it, I thank Sandler for doing it. It's a film that reminded me of those movies from the 90s and early 2000s, where the humor was physical, literally; silly, absurd, and exaggerated.

This second installment follows Happy (Adam Sandler), a man with a very strong and strong temper who has already retired from the golf course. Married with five children, he now lives a different life. One day, something happens in his life that changes everything, and he falls into the clutches of alcohol and practically into disgrace. Fortunately, his children, quite peculiar as they are, don't let him fall, especially his daughter Vienna, who is the one with the best future in that family. When Happy falls so low, he loses almost everything, financially speaking, just when the opportunity of a lifetime appears in Vienna's life: a ballet school in Paris.

This forces Gilmore to return to golf after having won it all. But the twist this time is that there's a threat that threatens to wipe out golf as a sport as we know it. It's here that Happy must participate in a tournament to "save" golf and, above all, fulfill his daughter's dream. One of the things that surprised me most about this film is the immense number of cameos and personalities that appear. In addition to the original cast, other characters make appearances, making the film a kind of blend of artists of all kinds. From singers like Bad Bunny, Post Malone, and Eminem to wrestlers like Becky Lynch and Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Even professional golfers, like Rory McIlroy, make appearances. This speaks to the enormous influence Sandler has on cinema.

The plot is everything you'd imagine: Happy's return to the golf course can't be a normal occurrence; there have to be a series of senseless and absurd events along the way. As I told you, this comedy is characterized by the blow, the fall, the bodily harm, the gestures, the exaggerated interactions; it's very visual, but above all, very contact-based, and this was very common a few decades ago. What Sandler wanted to do, I suppose, is keep the film's nature alive, the one where hitting people in the head with golf balls could make people laugh. Beyond being a great film, which it isn't, the intention is to appeal to nostalgia and for people to enjoy the return to life of such a mythical character.

The really cool thing about the film is seeing the original cast return, along with their stories. That, for me, is incredibly valuable because it helps connect better with the plot. There are many nods to the first installment that make it truly feel like a continuation, something that seldom happens with sequels. Personally, I wasn't bored. I think you have to watch the film with fond eyes and not expect to see something worthy of an Oscar. You have to understand that everything is frankly unreal and, I repeat, absurd. Julie Bowen, Margaret Qualley, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Haley Joel Osment, and Sandler's real family are some of the people who make the scene. As I'm telling you, it's a strong cast, at least in terms of names.

I give it a 7/10. I think it's good, it makes you laugh, it's nostalgic, and it has that humor that's so often lost these days. If you grew up watching Sandler and understand his vision of comedy, this film is for you. It's on Netflix, and I definitely recommend it. I'll leave the trailer here.

  8. Happy Gilmore 2 (2025) ~ Movie Review@papamogambo337d

    Hello Movie Lovers 👋🏻

I have just finished watching the movie Happy Gilmore 2, which is the second part, or sequel, of the Happy Gilmore movie that came out in the 90s. In this, we get to see a story set many years after the original movie, where Gilmore has several children who have grown up. However, he has given up playing golf due to an incident. Because of that same incident, his financial condition has become very bad. He is unable to educate his children properly. But his daughter wants to attend a ballet school in London, for which $300,000 is needed, forcing him to play golf out of necessity.

    Story

The man who was a hero in the 90s, extremely good at his game, like Sachin Tendulkar himself, can he, after so many years when he is almost old, beat the young players or not? That’s what you have to see in this movie. And how much money he wins, what happens—that’s all you need to watch.

Speaking of the movie’s story, the story is decent. Honestly, I didn’t find any major flaws in the story. I was wondering why they even made a second part. I don’t know if it was necessary or not. And that Netflix formula of just remaking old movies creates a bit of doubt about whether these movies were really needed or not. But as I watched the movie, it sparked my interest, and by the end, I wanted our hero to win. For this reason, it doesn’t feel like the movie was made forcefully or that it wasn’t needed. So, the story is decent.

Talking about comedy, since comedy is a big factor in this movie, it’s a comedy movie. The comedy doesn’t work in most places. It works in a few spots. They definitely try to make you laugh in some places, but it doesn’t have much impact. Still, the comedy works in some parts. It might work for those watching new comedy movies for the first time. But for those who have seen a lot of comedy movies, the comedy won’t work much.

But that doesn’t mean the movie is bad. If I were to simply define this movie, it’s a feel-good movie. It feels good to watch. From the beginning to the end, you stay hooked to the movie. You enjoy watching every single thing. When our hero loses, you feel angry. When he starts winning, you feel good, and you want him to win the game by the end, which is a good thing.

You may have never played golf. I haven’t played it either, but still, we want our hero to win. And the rules of golf, which we’ve never heard of, are explained very well in this movie. So, in my opinion, this is a one-time watch feel-good movie, which has a 6.5 rating on IMDb.

    Final Verdict

In this movie, I found everyone’s acting quite good, and the production budget of the movie is also very good. That’s why I would definitely suggest you watch this movie.

If you want to watch a one-time feel-good movie and don’t have anything else to watch right now, you can watch this movie.

I would rate this movie 7 out of 10.

  9. Happy Gilmore 2 (film): It's exactly what you are thinking it will be@netflixr338d

I was a big fan of Happy Gilmore when it was released all those years ago in the 90's and even though I will admit that it is a very poorly produced film with tons of stupid aspects to it and a completely impractical story and even lackluster special effects, it is still something that stands out in my mind because it is just so Adam Sandler.

That guy has made hundreds of millions of dollars and making bad films that somehow everyone goes to see and Happy Gilmore is likely the one that truly put him on the map as someone that can be in just about anything and it is going to make a ton of money.

In fact almost all of Sandler's films make BIG money, even the really really stupid ones. I appreciate his serious films and think Sandler is a pretty amazing serious actor. But his serious roles don't make money and one of his only huge flops is Uncut Gems which lost at least $50 million while in the meantime Jack and Jill which might be one of the worst movies ever made by anyone, made $50-70 million in profit.

So I think that if people go into Sandler movies knowing exactly what they are going to get, that is what they get. Happy Gilmore 2 was never going to be amazing and they stuck to the same formula that they had in the first one.

    image.png src

The story is told to us pretty rapidly at the start, and is likely in the trailer so this is not a spoiler. Happy has been enjoying the spoils of victory and has gone on to win the Golden Jacket of the tournament that is definitely not the PGA many times and in the meantime has made so much money that he lives a life of luxury. Then, tragedy strikes and he suddenly finds himself broke with the famed Grandma's house getting taken away from him again.

A string of things happen and he finds himself in a position where it is necessary for him to take up golf again and as you would expect, at first he is terrible at it but by doing things like going to his "happy place" and reuniting with a bunch of people from the first film, he finds his former glory.

    image.png src

The cameos are fun and man oh man do they do a lot of throwback to the original including using a lot of footage from it in order to remind people why such and such person on screen is important. For nerds like me I needed no such reminders but ok, I get why it is there.

    image.png src

Seeing Shooter McGavin back on screen was a lot of fun because without that film would be even know who Christopher McDonald is? I wonder if it bother him that he has been in many films and a bunch of TV shows, one of which saw him nominated for an Emmy but he is bet known as being someone who "eats pieces of shit for breakfast."

    image.png src

Basically, if they were in the original movie and they are still alive, they figured out a way to get them into the sequel. In a couple of instances they managed to get some people that are not alive IRL and get them into the movie anyway.

This also seems to have been a pet-project for Sandler to try to get his kids involved in the movie industry as three of his children star in it as well. Two of them are quite obviously related to him, the other one, not so much.

I don't look at this as nepotism even though it clearly is. I mean, if you are related to Adam Sandler and you want to be in films you are going to get to be in films. He owns the damn production company after all.

The professional golfers that are in Happy Gilmore 2 are probably the most impressive to me because they actually do a pretty great job of acting for the most part especially John Daly, who was always one of my favorite real life golfers because he would smoke and drink booze on the courses, while on TV. He plays a role of a washed-up drunk and well, that probably wasn't too much a stretch for him to get into character.

    image.png src

Netflix doesn't normally release how much their films cost to make but by looking at this one I would guess that it definitely wasn't cheap to make. The production value is very good and this is impressive because you can't exactly fake a golf course and hundreds of fans being there to watch a game. Netflix claims it cost $30 million to make but I'm not buying this for a second. If they did do it for that little, well color me impressed.

    Should I watch it?

let's be honest here: This movie is not groundbreaking or even particularly good. It is super predictable and follows the exact same formula as the first one. For anyone unfamiliar with the first one, or the rise of Sandler in the 90's this film will likely seem incredibly stupid. But for those of us that were there when it happened and understand the inexplicable Sandler-craze of the 90's this is one piece of nostalgia bait that you really don't want to miss. It is what it is and for me, it was fun enough and not much more.
