  1. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) | Nattosheru Review [ENG/SPA]@nattosenpai684d

    Nattosheru Review_20240813_182206_0000.png

Hello movie fans. Today I want to talk to you about the third installment of everyone's favorite superhero, Thor, the God of Thunder, but from the Marvel Comics universe. Considered "the best movie of the Thor saga" to date, this third part had a huge amount of praise and reviews in its favor, whether for the direction, the characters, the special effects and the perfect blend of humor with action and fantasy. Produced by the then successful Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this film was directed by the well-known Taika Waititi. It features Chris Hemsworth as the main character, in addition to the participation of other great actors such as Tom Hiddleston, Kate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Teresa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo. This is one Thor movie I do recommend watching.

    Plot

The film begins a couple of years after the events of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" with Thor chained in a dungeon next to a skeleton as he tells him that he has been unsuccessfully searching for the remaining Infinity Gems. There he is greeted by Surtur, a giant demon in the form of a skeleton with bull horns and wrapped in flames that seeks to end the life of the God of Thunder, in addition to ending Asgard in the famous "Ragnarok" which he tells him will come and that it will be inevitable. He also tells him that Odin, the King of Asgard is no longer on his throne, but has been banished and abandoned and by the absence of Thor he is vulnerable. Thor manages to free himself and finish off the great demon for the time being and then travels back to Asgard to see his father.

Heimdall's replacement, Skurge, is the one who brings Thor back after finally hearing his call. Thor, surprised that the gatekeeper has been replaced, wonders what is happening in Asgard. He goes to see his father Odin, who sees him happy and calm watching a curious play that is a crude interpretation of Thor, Loki, Jane Foster, Odin and others who appear at the end of the second part. Thor realizes that Odin is actually Loki in disguise and captures him, taking him with him to Earth in search of his father. They arrive on Earth to find that the place where his brother left him has been demolished and they don't know Odin's current whereabouts. It is then when Loki is pierced by a magical portal that Doctor Stephen Strange makes to trap the great enemy of mankind.

    Trama

    Trailer & Review

Below, I will leave you the trailer of the movie:

    20240522_150315_0000.png

I remember seeing this movie in theaters (if I'm not mistaken), the feeling it gave me in the first few minutes was very different from its two predecessors. From the beginning I felt it was going to be different, funnier and much more entertaining. The dark tones he had in the first and second films disappear here, showing us a different, funnier and more enjoyable Thor. However, his enormous desire to fight and to measure his strength did not disappear, introducing in turn very powerful enemies that appear in the comics, such as Surtur, Hela and the Wolf Fenris. I was also very impressed by the appearance of other characters such as Doctor Stephen Strange and the Hulk, the latter being the one who was given more time and prominence, after Thor. And of course, an incredible and long-awaited fight between two of the most beloved characters of the franchise.

When I saw this movie I really loved how they developed the different characters that appear from the beginning, starting with Thor, as this hero who left his home, Asgard, to search for the Infinity Gems and fight an unknown evil. His experience fighting HYDRA on Earth and his enormous contribution to "The Avengers" team have changed his life. However, his personal and love life is already another topic that unfortunately is hardly mentioned in this third installment. On the other hand, we see again his brother, Loki, who was believed to be dead but actually fulfilled his promise to assume the throne of Asgard, albeit in a very mischievous way, as the God of Madness knows how to do. He must now atone for his sins by accompanying his brother Thor on a journey that will change him completely.

We also see the Hulk, who makes an incredible appearance in the film in a scene with Thor that is memorable and, without a doubt, my favorite of the entire film. If you want to see the green giant demonstrating his incomparable superhuman strength in action, you must see this movie, in which he fights against gods and demons. On the other hand, we also see the appearance of Hela, the older sister of Thor and Loki and the villain of the film, which appears after a sad scene in search of ending Asgard, this being the beginning of the great Ragnarok. Of course, the one we see in this movie is not at all similar to the one we know from the stories, since we are talking about a movie made for all audiences nothing more and nothing less by Marvel Studios in charge of Disney. However, this does not detract from the fact that this movie is a complete demonstration of power, action and fantasy at incredible levels.

With a beginning and an ending that is simply unexpected, the film presents us with an endless series of action and comedy in an adventure between different worlds with a group of somewhat interesting characters. The relationships we see in this film between Thor and Loki, Hulk/Banner with Thor and other characters is something that caught my attention, also the way in which they have an interesting development, after everything that happens throughout the film. Lastly, the special effects, CGI and style that this movie has is amazing, very different and much better done than their previous two movies, that's not to mention the sound effects and the fantastic soundtrack that the movie has. Far from being the best superhero movie I have seen from Marvel Studios, I can tell you that it is the best of all the Thor movies I have seen, which has left me with a very good feeling and a good number of unforgettable moments and scenes.

Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating as far as the fantasy/action/superhero genre is concerned.

  2. Insomniac Movie Marathon: Thor Ragnarok@rvgenaille2392d

    image

As an Indigenous filmmaker, I cannot help but cheer when I hear Taika Waititi is succeeding in Hollywood in suck awesome ways. And that he is doing it in mainstream ways, not just locked into the “Indigenous filmmaker” mold, many of us get trapped in, is exciting.

Thor: Ragnarok is my next jump into the dreaded superhero genre that I keep complaining about but I have to admit that I really liked it. Waititi takes a very different tack from the previous Thor films, indeed most of the previous Marvel flicks and engages the audience with a more comical direction without losing the depth that is necessary to make these work.

Thor is faced by his greatest challenge, the return of his unknown sister, Hela, and his own exile on a trash planet where he is enslaved as a gladiator and must fight the Hulk before he can return to Asgard to battle his sister.

    The Good...

Chris Hemsworth rocks as Thor even if his character is more sarcastic and less aristocratic than in previous films and it is welcome.

Tom Hiddleston is always great as Loki.

Cate Blanchett is awesome as their sister, Hela, the Goddess of Death.

    image

Tessa Thompson as the Valkyrie is a great addition to the film.

The film has a lot of heart and comic moments. Waititi maintains his past in this film, casting many Indigenous Maori people in supporting roles.

There is more depth here than in other Marvel films and I need to think on it a little but can’t explore that too much here without spoiling the film.

    The Not So Good...

I miss the Jeff Goldblum of The Fly and Into the Night. He has sort of been coasting on his Jeff Goldblumisms since Jurassic Park.

The Hulk looked kind of weird.

    image

Karl Urban was good as Skurge but sort of wasted.

I saw this film in 3D in a non-digital theatre and the 3D added nothing though it didn’t take away much either.

Really enjoyable film with heart and a lot of fun. See it, you’ll enjoy it.

  3. Thor: Ragnarok - a great movie for the evening!@unbiasedwriter2781d

It is not a secret, my favorite Marvel character of them all is Thor. He makes me laugh, and even when he is in grave danger, he laughs - and that makes me laugh. Don't know what I am talking about? Watch the first 3 minutes of the Thor: Ragnarok movie and you will get the point!

I have seen all the Thor movies from Marvel in the last year, and I looked very much forward to the release of Thor: Ragnarok. And as I was sitting in the cinema watching it together with some friends, and with some nachos with salsa, I just had two fantastic hours!

    thor ragnarok on netflix.jpg

In Thor: Ragnarok, he has to fight against his sister (whom he didn't know anything about). She is stepping up to tear Asgard apart, and Thor is, of course, doing his uttermost to stop her. One of the highlights of the movie is when he is sent as a prisoner together with Loki, but somehow, Loki gets a much better position than Thor during the captivity. To amuse the people, Thor has to become a gladiator, but the shock gets big as he sees his opponent, the Hulk! Yet again Thor will give you thousands of reasons to life, while he is actually fighting for his life.

Thor might inspire you to study

If you haven't seen the Thor movies yet, get started. They might do more than to just amuse he, they might actually inspire you to learn something. Maybe you will sit down to read more about mythology and stories that brought characters such as Thor and Odin into life? You will for sure have a good time if you do so, and especially teenagers are deeply interested in these stories.

    Thor: Ragnarok conclussion

I had a great time watching Thor: Ragnarok, and I would have no problem watching it again (even though I strongly dislike watching a movie twice). If I were to throw a dice, I guess Thor would end up with either 5 or 6 points, meaning top-score!

Have you seen Thor: Ragnarok? How did you like it?

If you haven't seen it yet, watch this YouTube clip for instructions on how to watch Thor: Ragnarok on Netflix! More Netflix news and articles can be found at http://netflix.fromabroad.org/

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day!

My loving wife was nice enough to allow me to go get away for a few hours and go see the new Thor 3 while it's still in the Dolby Cinema's with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos surround sound. This movie takes Marvel fun to a whole new level. It's a lot funnier than any of the other Thor movies and the visuals are A++ along with the awesome Dolby Atmos soundtrack to match. I can't believe they were able to secure a Led Zeppelin track for this movie, but their use of it in 2 separate scenes is undoubtedly the best use of any movie using a Zeppelin song ever.

This is definitely one to check out folks!

  11. A Geeky Dad's Movie Guide to Thor: Ragnarok (2017)@hanshotfirst3156d

Usually when I see a movie, I can form a solid opinion of it almost instantly. But every once in a while, I need to truly contemplate how I feel about a film. Yesterday, My son and I saw Thor: Ragnarok and I am still on the fence.

    Here's my dilemma...

Is Thor Ragnarok the greatest comic book movie I have ever seen or is it merely in the top 3?

What a nice problem too have.

As I sit down to write this, I still don't have the answer. What I do know, is that it was sensational. I also know it was the most fun comic book movie I have ever seen.

For me, The Dark Knight is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It transcends the comic book genre. I consider it more of a crimefighter trying to stop a terrorist story rather than a mere "comic book movie". So I will set that one aside. The creative team behind Thor: Ragnarok was not trying to make a deep movie (but its not totally vapid either).

So that leaves Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 1. I am still in awe of the combination of action, humor, and heart in that film. Although this installment of Thor's story does not have the heart of GotG, it has more action and humor. So I will take the cop out here and say that Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 1 is a better and more complete movie... but that I would be more likely to watch Thor: Ragnarok over and over again. It is going to be one of those movies that I will leave on every time it is playing on TV.

I try very hard to never spoil any movies, but if you are overly cautious, stop reading this now and go and see the movie immediately. If you trust me, I'll tell you why it is so awesome.

*Everything is awesome! Everything is awesome when it is part of Thor: Ragnarok!*

Thor: Ragnarok is the perfect comic book movie. Comic books are supposed to be exciting, humorous and fun. The writing team of Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle, and Christopher Yost did the perfect job of writing a comic book for the big screen. What I found interesting is that this is all these three writers do. If you check out IMDB, you will find that super hero stories are pretty much all these guys tell. For many other comic book movies, they bring in movie writers who are willing and able to take a stab at the genre. However, this time, the producers brought in a team dedicated 100% to the genre.

Next, the producers teamed these writers with a rather unknown director, Taika Waititi. While checking out his IMDB page, one thing jumped out at me. Waititi directed several episodes of the brilliant comedy, Flight of the Concords. This teaming of writers dedicated to telling super hero stories with a director who knows humor made for the perfect combination.

There are so many quality one-liners in this movie that I thought it might be an advertisement for the #punchline tag here on steemit. Within the first five minutes, it is very clear that the audience should not take the movie too seriously (Why should they? It's a comic book movie!). Thor immediately starts cracking jokes to a skeleton... and then continues telling them to a giant fire demon. He continues doing this throughout the movie. But the humor never feels forced or gets in the way. That is one of the most impressive things about the film. Thor is funny... when the situation calls for it (and a few when it doesn't). But he is also fighting for the survival of his people. Therefore, the writers must know when to turn the humor off so Thor can be serious and heroic. Chris Hemsworth straddles the line between humor and hero perfectly.

*Few people remember Thor's time as assistant to the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin, Inc.*

Even though I laughed many times with Thor, he is not even close to the funniest character. Hulk is an absolute riot in the movie. Presumably because he has remained in his superhuman form for so long, Hulk has improved his ability to speak. He's still not quite at the conversational level of English, but he knows enough to be absolutely hilarious. Surprisingly, some of the best scenes in the movie are of Hulk and Thor talking (but the best ones are of the two of them fighting each other). In addition to Hulk's newfound verbal humor, he still has the ability to engage in some physical slapstick comedy as well. Did you ever wonder what the three stooges would be like if they had super-human strength? Wonder no more. Both Thor and Hulk will show you how it would look. Believe me, it's hysterical.

My 12 year old son, Timmy, thinks the funniest character in the movie is a rock monster named Korg (brilliantly voiced by director Taika Waititi). I honestly can't write too much without spoiling the jokes, but I have to agree with my son on this one. Although Korg is not a main character, it is nearly impossible to avoid smiling or laughing every time he is on the screen.

In addition to the jokes and slapstick humor, there are a couple of brilliant cameos. I would never spoil anyone's fun by revealing who they are, but they were incredibly clever.

I honestly do not think they missed on a single joke. Every one delivered. Some had me laughing a bit longer than I should have been. (I think I may have embarrassed my son a couple of times.)

But don't worry. This movie is not solely a comedy. It is an incredibly exciting movie that uses comedy. There is a ton of action. Normally, movie trailers give away all the best parts of a movie. The most exciting pieces are only slightly longer in the actual film. That is not the case here. There were many surprise action sequences. Even the ones that were shown in the trailer last for a significant amount of time. If I listed all of the different battles, you would think I was exaggerating... and I'd ruin your fun. So I won't. Out of the 130 minutes, I would estimate that at least 70 of them involved some sort of battle. When there isn't a battle, there is humor or a meaningful set up... for upcoming humor or action. There is no wasted time in this movie. In fact, I wish it were slightly longer so I could have seen a little bit more of one really cool fight.

Thor: Ragnarok is not all silliness. Hela, the villain wonderfully portrayed by Cate Blanchett, is pure evil. She is dark and vicious (She is also smoking hot! You go 48 year old Cate!). The character is fleshed out just enough to make the audience truly hate her. In addition, there are also some opportunities for characters to do some soul searching and decide which path they will choose.

What is perhaps the most impressive thing of all is that in-between the humor, action, and fun... they actually wrote a story that makes sense (if you can suspend your disbelief enough to enjoy a living comic book). The creative team did not leave very many (if any) plot holes. The writers took the time to make sure the audience could understand the reasons behind every characters' behavior/choices as well as the events taking place.

*Ho hum. It's just a giant Hulk attacking an even more enormous fire demon. Yawn.*

It seems that we have become so spoiled by today's technology that visual and sound effects are only mentioned when they disappoint. I refuse to ignore just how amazing both were in this film. They are perfect! Every detail from the world building, to the Hulk, to a giant wolf, all look incredibly real. I was very pleased that I chose to see the movie in a special Dolby Cinema theater. These theaters are designed to provide the best possible visual and audio experience possible. It did not disappoint. The visuals and sound were so amazing that it was worth the extra money to see it in Dolby. The next time I see it (which will be later this week) I am going to drive 30 minutes to see it in real 2D IMAX.

Can kids see it? Obviously, you have to use your own judgement, but if they could handle The Avengers they can handle this. Although it is not as dark as Avengers: Age of Ultron, it is still a comic book movie filled with a significant amount of unrealistic violence.

Should you see it? I can't believe you are still reading this. You should have closed your laptop and headed to the theater to see Thor: Ragnarok 1400 words ago!

One more quick F.Y.I. There are two post credit scenes. The first one is important to the future of the Marvel Universe. The second is just silly fun. Both were worth waiting for.

Number of times I checked steemit: 0 Number of times I said "That's ridiculous": 0 (Suspension of disbelief required) Did my kids like it: My son LOVED it. I am taking my daughter in a few days. Would I see it without my kids: I'd only see it 5-10 times without them. Full price/Matinee/Rental/Free/Not worth the time: See it in a premium theater (IMAX, Dolby, etc.) if you are able. It is worth the time and money.

  12. Thor Ragnarok - Movie Review@coldsteem3157d

    thor.jpg

    Minor spoilers ahead

I went into Thor Ragnarok with tempered expectations. The trailers looked good to me. There were quite a few funny bits in the trailer. It got me to thinking that this might be one of those films where the best parts are used in the trailer and the rest of the film is dull. Thankfully, Thor Ragnarok is not one of those films. It is a humorous, action-packed, throw-back flavored film. I particularly liked the retro theme that heavily influenced this film.

    thor3.jpg

We are introduced to Thor Ragnarok with a discussion Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is having with a skeleton. Thor is bound in chains, suspended from a cage. Within minutes, the first of many heavily CGI influenced action sequences is on full display. Thor is battling Ragnarok and his minions in a lava-like world. Thor barely escapes, transported to an Asgard that looks a bit different than the one he last visited. It appears Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has had the run of the place. And the changes have not necessarily been for the better. Fast forward a bit, Odin is gone and their sinister sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett) is bent on conquering the universe. Before stopping Hela, the estranged brothers must first escape a bizarre planet called Saakar, ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). With the help of Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), a former Asgardian Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and a deadpan rock creature with a New Zealand accent. With the universe hanging in the balance, brothers must put their differences aside and work together to restore order and protect their people.

    thor2.jpg

I was expecting a thin plot, some decent dialogue and awesome graphic effects when I arrived at the theater. Instead, I was treated to a decent (although predictable) plot, great dialogue, incredible humor and excellent CGI. The look and feel of this movie was greatly enhanced with the incredible retro feel. It didn't look old retro, it looked shiny new. But the flavor was throwback. Bright colors, weird color combinations, unusual lighting effects and a cool soundtrack for us old folks in the audience. There is nothing like a bit of Zeppelin to warm you up for a fight sequence. Most of the soundtrack was created by Mark Mothersbaugh. The soundtrack added the right mood for this film. The film also had some great Easter eggs. Matt Damon with an awesome cameo, a splash of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the obligatory Stan Lee cameo and other treats for the fanboys in the audience.

    thor4.jpg

I like the cast of this film. I like Ruffalo, Hemsworth is Thor, Hiddleston seems to relish the role of Loki and Goldblum adds a strangeness that was perfect for the Grandmaster. But Blanchett was the highlight of this film for me. First, she was smoking hot. She may be close to fifty, but she is still a godess to me. Who better to play a godess queen in this film. Her credibility gave her villain a bit of depth. Black and green suits her. I hope she shows up on the red carpet wearing black and green as a nod to this character. That evil look she has is subtle but effective. I was enamored and frightened of her at the same time. Good, powerful stuff from the veteran. The rest of the cast was excellent, but my other favorite would have to be the rock creature. His deadpan commentary was just great dialogue. Director Taika Waititi is from New Zealand, so that may explain the injection of deadpan into the film (he voiced the creature, called Korg). Great work.

    thor5.png

Thor Ragnarok has the type of polish that one would expect from a 180 million dollar film. Big budget films often don't deliver as much story as action, but this film manages both. It is likely to make the studio a ton of money. This 130 minute film, shot primarily in Australia, received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA. Violence is the primary reason for this rating. There are plenty of battle scenes and talk of death. Some of the imagery is likely to induce nightmares in young viewers. There is nothing particularly offensive for younger audiences, but if your kids are prone to nightmares, it may save later headache to find a babysitter. This film is worth seeing in the theater.

    thor6.jpg

I saw Thor Ragnarok in standard format. I am not sure how much this film would benefit from 3-D, but I have a feeling it would be awesome in IMax. If you have the opportunity to see it in IMax, take it. The film will be fine if you wait for it on streaming, but seeing a film like this at the theater is definitely a treat. The acting was rock solid, the dialogue exceptional, the storyline acceptable, the action heart-pulsing, the pacing steady. I don't know whose idea it was to add a retro flair to this film, but it was a good decision. The film had a distinct look and feel that sets it apart from the others in the franchise. It did not feel gimmicky to me. It was refreshing to see an action film with modern effects but a throwback look. This film was put together well. For 180 million, it should be. But we all know that is not always the case. See this one in the theater if you get the chance. 8/10.

  13. Thor: Ragnarok – Spoiler Free Review@readingdanvers3157d

    Thor.jpg

This is a great movie, but not the best MCU movie to ever hit the big screen. It is a very fun, colorful, funny movie with great characters and great interactions. However, this movie requires you to do homework. I went to this movie with a person who have never seen a Marvel movie before and they couldn’t understand or enjoy the movie. You need to watch at least the first Avengers movie before going in to this movie.

Now enough with the negative, this movie was spectacular. The character design and the world building were amazing! From Fire Lord Surtur to Hella herself the characters look spectacular. The old characters get a nice makeover, but we see that in trailer. Thor gets a haircut and Loki gets a new headpiece. The movie is so colorful that it makes Guardians of the Galaxy look dull. The worlds that this movie visits also look amazing and each one looks unique.

    Thor fighting.jpg

Even though this is a great looking movie, this movie is not so great in the action department. By that I mean, it lakes hand to hand fights. The action scenes are usually filmed from a distance and the choreography is not great. Also, most action sequences are too short for my taste and lake a sense of grandiose. However, they are really fun to watch. Everything around the fights and the characters are so great, that they manage to turn to the fight scenes into something spectacular. Also, it’s some of the best and funniest use of Mjölnir that I’ve seen.

It is a very funny movie. Too funny. Marvel now has the habit of undercutting emotional scenes, by putting jokes in places that are sometimes inappropriate. This movie has joke after joke in it, and yes it damages the more serious moments at times. Some of the jokes will make little kids laugh, some jokes will make older audiences laugh, and some jokes will make people that have watched all MCU movies laugh. I feel like most the humor lands and some of it was really unpredictable. You need to be ready for a light and funny movie, lighter than what the teaser trailer showed.

Ragnarok. For a movie called Ragnarok, it feels rather small in scale. You don’t feel that the entire universe is in danger. Sometimes the end of the world parts and the humor don’t blend well, but they mostly work well together. Also, don’t expect this movie to follow the mythological Ragnarok. But, the references that it does have to the mythology are really really cool.

    Hella.jpg

Hella. The first female villain did not disappoint. She is extremely powerful, funny, witty, and does not consider herself to be evil. You know you are going to get something incredible when you cast someone like Cate Blanchett as the villain. I wish there was more of her in this movie. Also, I do feel like finally Marvel found a better villain than Loki. It’s about time.

    Loki.jpg

Loki. What a disappointment. The god of mischief is not very mischievous in this movie. And if he is, then it is in a boring, predictable and not fun way. The relationship between the brothers was not explored enough and it was rather disappointing. It’s a good thing the movie gave him some good lines.

    Valkyrie.jpg

Valkyrie. I liked Tessa Thompson since I saw her in Creed and she did not disappoint with another great performance. Her character was not what I expected at all and it was great. She reminded me a bit of the Winchester brothers from Supernatural, someone who has been through so many bad things in life that they can barely function, but they keep going. You hardly see such female characters on screen, so it was great.

    Grandmaster.jpg

Grandmaster. Jeff Goldblum as Jeff Goldblum basically. He was fun and charismatic and acting like Jeff Goldblum as a tyrant in space.

    Hulk.jpg

Banner/Hulk. Mark Ruffalo did a great job. Talking Hulk was great for comedy, but also as a character. He delivered some excellent one liners, but he was also more than that. We get to see Hulk as a separate character from Banner and get to know him for the first time basically. Banner on the other hand was not very much needed. The relationship between Banner and Hulk was also an interesting one and we will probably continue to explore it in other movies in which they will appear in.

    thor 2.jpg

Thor. Meet funny Thor for the first time. Not Thor that funny things happen around him, or that the fact that he is a stranger in a strange land makes him do funny things. This Thor is just a really funny guy. He is a lot more similar to Chris Hemsworth himself, who is a really funny person as well. It’s a new take on Thor that work perfectly in my opinion. He is arrogant, because he has a reason to be. He is not reckless or foolish, but likeable, honorable, and a true leader.

Cameos. Keep your eyes open for two really funny and unexpected cameos in this movie.

The plot of this movie was pretty good. When this movie was announced I was worried about the combination of Planet Hulk and Ragnarok in the same movie, but the movie balanced it out perfectly in my opinion. There are some plot holes and a few illogical occurrences, but I only notice it after seeing what others thought of the movie. It did not bother me. I think that the general awesomeness of the movie covers such issues really well. You will never notice that this movie was mostly improvised, because everything works perfectly.

Also, the soundtrack is super fun and includes one special surprise for the really cool action scenes.

This movie also drops some details about the next Avengers movie, without actually setting up another movie, which was refreshing. Scenes that set up other movies usually feel forced, and this movie doesn’t have it.

Post Credit Scenes. There are two and they are not really exciting or worth the wait. You can easily skip the one at the end of all the credits.

    Thor poster.jpg

I would caution against expecting the best MCU movie to date, that is still without a doubt Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Some people might even find Guardians of the Galaxy to be a funnier movie. Yet this movie is truly unique in its own way. It is a fun, funny, colorful movie that takes you on a fun ride with fun and great characters. There are some truly unexpected plot twists along the way. There is literally never a dull moment in this movie. So just enjoy the ride and hope that Taika Waititi will get to director Thor 4, or as he calls it: Ragnarok 2, as this movie truly does re-invents the character of Thor and franchise.

    I give it 8.5/10

  14. Thor: Ragnarok(2017)@showflix3166d

"I've got more muscle, so technically more brains!" - Thor

Thor: Ragnarok is probably the best movie that can be made from Thor and his Norse legend. This movie is a strange Thor movie. Okay, all of Thor's movies are weird, but this one's weird. He plays more like a Trippy Guardians of the Galaxy . The film features a more fantastic environment and more exotic aliens. This movie is also the most fun Thor movie.

The lightning god of Marvel's Norse mythology is basically a slightly ridiculous character. Despite having a perfect super ability and played by Chris Hemsworth who also has a perfect physical appearance, but he is a bland superhero with great responsibilities . Hearing him talk is like looking at the prize people who are present again because they feel more special than the commoners. No one takes seriously what they say / do, except themselves. It is also a slightly complicated character to handle. As a god, Thor is so strong that it is impossible to be cited in the face of a threat at the intergalactic level.

New Zealand director Taika Waititi, who once worked on the eccentric comedy What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople , is aware of this and gladly presents it to us, making the nonsense of the gods as an absurd joke in which the typical action generic blockbuster . The movie is playing with superhero cliches (there's one more good joke about superhero's landing ). Thor's personality becomes a joke in his own movie. And Hemsworth could again unleash his talents.

Thor could chant in front of great danger, and this is natural because, hey, he's a god. So even though he had to fight a giant fire demon called Surfur who predicted fishing "ragnarok", we knew this would be an easy mission. When returning home to Asgard, Thor saw his father, Odin ( Anthony Hopkins ) again sitting around looking pretty opera loose. Wow, it seems Thor: The Dark World not only damages the health of our souls, but Odin too. Well , it was not. It turns out that Loki ( Tom Hiddleston ) is posing as Odin.

    source

Regarding "ragnarok", this word refers to a great battle in the end of the age that caused doomsday in Norse legend. The one who brought him was the Goddess of Death, Hela ( Cate Blanchett ), a forgotten former goddess from Asgard's history. And like most of the forgotten ex, he is more upset and now wants revenge. His strength is as vengeful as it is with Thor's Mjolnir hammer (which even a dragon can not even lift) that he can crush into pieces.

His first fight with Hela resulted in Thor being thrown to a far-away planet called Sakaar. The planet is controlled by Jeff Goldblum who pretends to be an alien named "Grandmaster", as we would believe. Thor was taken captive then forced into a gladiator. In this arena, he meets the green giant Hulk ( Mark Ruffalo ), his fellow Avengers called Thor as a "friend at work", but clearly Hulk does not feel that way.

Thor: Ragnarok works most successfully in buddy comedy between Thor and the people around him. Thor and Hulk are not so compact that they mock and tease each other. Hulk, a green giant who is not too bright but quite sensitive, gets a much larger portion than his performance from the two films The Avengers . Finally, the two most dull characters in the Marvel universe were also given a kind of personality.

So also with the dynamics of Thor and Loki who since childhood has become a brother-but-enemy-nebulous. In fact, Thor is surrounded by very interesting characters. Tessa Thompson plays as Valkyrie, legendary Asgard fighter who becomes a slave hobbyist who is hooked on drunkenness in Sakaar. Waititi himself gets a tasteful role through motion-capture technology as Korg, a rock monster who is also an arena gladiator. With a shrill voice and a plain personality, he has a funny dialogue. Almost all the characters in this movie joke, even in the most serious situations.

    source

Do these eccentric, colorful, and self-aware comedy characters keep us from forgetting the plot? Not really. Stories lag in far-away-there. "Ragnarok" is the point of the film, but the plot part about Hela kok sometimes even annoying. We want to hurry back to Thor et al. Stories lack the gravity, we do not feel the nuances of danger or emotional when something serious happens. The film is minimal tension. And this is not one of the jokes, because when he is not joking he is not intense. Waititi, although good in a conversation, not so click when combine it with the standard story superhero movie. Most of the action scenes do not take the dimension of space or weight, but just a special effect.

I found that the tendency of the film to connect with the cinematic universe this time was pretty distracting. Many fanservices , such as trivia, cameo, and callbacks to previous Marvel movies, which will make dedicated audiences to the Marvel universe grinning happily while other audiences will be astonished. I love to see the response of my friends watching when hearing the terms halu that seemed to say "WTF was that". However, this is the purpose of the movie, is not it?

  15. Thor Ragnarok Will Be The Best Of All 3@evoman13168d

    Thor-ragnarok-920x518.jpg

Who else believes this will be the best of the 3 Thor movies? I'm hoping to catch this movie in the Dobly Cinema at AMC 16. The viewing there is unparalleled. I currently own the other two Thor movies on blu ray and I'm hoping they release Ragnarok on 4k UHD after its theater release. I expect there to be way better CGI in this new installment as well. Glad to see Thor with a new look too.

    Excitement level 10!!

  16. Review Film: Thor: Ragnarok (2017)@film-trail3168d

    https://youtu.be/y_UdORKgx6Y

    Review

The God of Thunder was reborn in the hands of Taika Waititi with fresh packaging and content. Even in the media junket that was held in Sydney mid-month, Chris Hemsworth himself admitted that he felt like playing a completely new character. If the two previous films were still thick with the drama element-even the love story that feels a little bit-then different things are offered in Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor movie this time almost clean from the scene drama nuance serious, in addition to one or two parts only. Thor: Ragnarok, is a humor parade that hardly not breaks from beginning to end of film. Start a hilarious dialog until slapstick, in this movie. Also included are some references from other Marvel movies, even from serials outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This thick element of humor, making this 130 minute movie feels like a fun ride. This is still added to the scream of Robert Plant with Led Zeppelin in "Immigrant Song", which accompanies the top fight scenes in this movie. Adrenaline immediately jumped since the first guitar riff begin.

Not only the humorous side that is propagated, Taika Waititi also offers a different visualization of the two previous films. Especially the atmosphere of Planet Sakaar with frenetic and colorful ala retro era, which has a large portion in this film. The visual aspect, the old music, and the humor that is thick, may be a bit reminiscent of Marvel fans with the nuances that appear in the Guardian of the Galaxy.

Although impressed as a lightweight film, Thor: Ragnarok is a film with core content that is quite complex, related to the dynamics of the characters. The film signifies the rebirth of Thor, also the beginning of a change in the Hulk. The film also serves as a bridge for Hulk and Thor to Infinity War, after two of the Avengers superheroes are absent in Captain America: Civil War.

And Taika Waititi was quite successful in performing this task, as well as fueling the curiosity of his fans over the next Marvel movie.

    RATING (9/10)

This prediction is not without reason, since so far the Waititi movies from What We Do in the Shadows to Hunt for the Wilderpeople have always succeeded in satisfying the critics. And it turns out this prediction also proved true, following Thor: i reap positive initial reactions in social media.
