Recently, I watched a superhero movie titled Blue Beetle. It was about a scarab that got to choose a high school graduate, and then it gradually started to take control of him, and he developed a symbiotic relationship with it. 

I love the character's personality so much. It's so strong. It has a defensive strategy and is somewhat strong as well. If I were to choose to become a fictional character, then I might choose it. 

The reason why I don't want to be like other fictional characters is that most of them are specialized in one aspect or the other. Just like Superman, he has his strength in flying, and he is also strong. Spider-Man has his strength in his webs, Iron Man has his strength in the Iron Man shield, and so many others, too. 

They can actually be of great rescue to those in their environment, and the villains they are fighting are just of their kind. I just can't imagine what it would be like if Superman had to fight with some kind of African witch or wizard. 😂. 

It's either way. Maybe Superman will beat the hell out of them, as they might appear weak to him, or Superman will find a way to run for his life because he might not even get to understand what his next step should be. 

There are no such things as superheroes in Nigeria, and I know it is kind of funny that if there were, then it might just be a local one with less or no sci-fi power. 

An instance where I got kidnapped, who am I calling to the rescue?

Blue Beetle, with its super strength, will surely do well to come to my aid. It has a lot of natural abilities, can fly, fight, and shield, and also has the latest sci-fi update embedded in it, which is Artificial intelligence. 

With this AI detection, I am sure it can navigate my whereabouts and actual location, even if in the deepest forest, and then it can come for me. The protective shield is one other factor that will put my mind at peace. 

I have watched scenes where the blue beetle could survive shots and even bomb attacks, so it should also be safe around it. 

I know this is all imagination, and the world of fiction is surely different from that of the real world. But notwithstanding, there can be superheroes too. 

I also like Wakanda Forever, that’s the black panther, this is because it still remains one of the black superheroes that have ever emerged. And as for villains, I don't think there is any villain I will seek help from. 

I just hope that there are many of these superheroes in the real world, just the way I felt to become one as a child. The zeal to help and save lives is somewhat emulating.

The first season of this series was the first series review I wrote in the community, and I had started watching it because it reminded me of the Mexican period novels I used to watch when I was little. Nothing has changed, I still feel like I’m watching a novela although this time in parts and waiting more than a year to see how the story continues in eight new episodes. I have already finished the third season and I was satisfied with the pace and how the lives of these characters that started in 2022 are developing.

La primera temporada de esta serie fue la primera reseña sobre series que escribí en la comunidad, y la había empezado a ver porque me recordaba a las novelas mexicanas de época que veía cuando era pequeña. Nada ha cambiado, todavía me parece estar viendo una novela aunque está vez por partes y esperando más de un año para ver cómo sigue la historia en ocho capítulos nuevos. Ya terminé la tercera temporada y me dejó satisfecha con el ritmo y como se desarrolla la vida de estos personajes que empezaron en el 2022.

A lot happened in this season. The second season ended with Marian beginning to realice that Larry Russell was a good prospect for a husband, although the rest of the world had already suspected it since the end of the first season; love was born between them and for a moment they were teenagers although he did not have to fight for his parents to accept the relationship nor did he have the same luck as his sister Gladys who Bertha in her eagerness for power and supposedly giving the best to her daughter and thinking of turning her into one of the most important women in the United States, ran all the suitors and forced her to marry a Duke.

Although we end with an unflattering season for Bertha, as her husband and son do not forgive her for what she did to Gladys, we see that her daughter, although it was hard for her to adapt to her new life, once again thanks to her mother’s temper, manages to empower herself in her own home and gain the respect and affection of her husband. So, here comes the question: Was Bertha wrong? Before the marriage, Gladys had a conversation with her future sister-in-law, where Marian makes her see that marriage is more than love and that there are those who marry in love but then go around killing each other, while other arranged marriages build a life together where they fall in love and love each other forever. For me that is so, living as a couple is difficult and marriage requires work and daily commitment, that is demonstrated up to this moment in the relationship of Gladys Russell and her husband.

En esta temporada pasaron muchas cosas. La segunda la terminamos con una Marian que empezaba a darse cuenta que Larry Russell era un buen prospecto para esposo, aunque ya el resto del mundo lo habíamos sospechado desde que terminó la primera temporada; el amor nació entre ellos y por un momento fueron adolescentes aunque él no tuvo que luchar para que sus padres aceptarán la relación ni tuvo la misma suerte de su hermana Gladys a la que Bertha en su afán por el poder y supuestamente darle lo mejor a su hija y pensando en convertirla en una de las mujeres más importantes de Estados Unidos, le corrió todos los pretendientes y la obligó a casarse con un Duque.

Aunque terminamos con una temporada nada favorecedora para Bertha, pues su esposo y su hijo no la perdonan por lo que le hizo a Gladys, vemos que su hija aunque le costó adaptarse a su nueva vida, otra vez gracias al temple de su madre logra empoderarse en su propia casa y ganar el respeto y cariño de su esposo. Entonces, es donde viene la pregunta ¿Estaba equivocada Bertha?. Antes del matrimonio, Gladys tuvo una conversación con su futura cuñada, dónde Marian le hace ver qué el matrimonio es más que amor y que hay quienes se casan enamorados pero luego andan matándose, mientras que otros matrimonios arreglados construyen una vida juntos donde se enamoran y se aman para siempre. Para mí eso es así, vivir en pareja es difícil y el matrimonio requiere de trabajo y compromiso diario, eso se demuestra hasta este momento en la relación de Gladys Russell y su esposo.

As I say, there is so much that happened this season with each character, I could make a publication with each one. We go to the Van Rhijn house where the new head of the family is Ada, after Oscar was deceived and lost all his mother’s fortune and Ada has inherited a lot of money after the death of her husband, everything happened in the second season, we spend these eight chapters adapting, until finally Agnes gave her place to her sister and accepted hers, although Oscar comes out of depression and goes back to doing business he goes through another loss, in this season he gives a more human and less materialistic change, he can become an important character in the next seasons and more for that alliance he got in the final episode, I hope this time if it works out.

Divorce: nobody even wanted to mention this word at that time, divorced women no matter if they caused the divorce or not, were forced to stay away from society, you were simply married, single or widowed, but divorced women were not forgiven; this also began to change in this season thanks to Bertha Russell, perhaps she feels that this will be her future and is preparing the ground for when it’s her turn. Bertha is the strongest character that the series has, she always gets what she wants, her husband has supported her in everything because to some extent they are equal, he is ruthless in business, which is where he makes decisions, but she is with the decisions she makes regarding the family and society, because that is the field that she handles and so far it seemed to me that was the reason why this couple was perfect, until George changes perspective when he is almost ruined in addition to suffering an assassination attempt What will happen to them? Let’s wait for the next season.

Cómo digo es mucho lo que ocurrió está temporada con cada personaje, podría hacer una publicación con cada uno. Nos vamos a la casa Van Rhijn dónde la nueva cabeza de la familia es Ada, luego de que Oscar fuera engañado y perdido toda la fortuna de su madre y Ada haya heredado mucho dinero después de la muerte de su esposo, todo ocurrió en la segunda temporada, pasamos estos ocho capítulos adaptándonos, hasta que por fin Agnes le dio su lugar a su hermana y aceptó el de ella, aunque Oscar sale de la depresión y vuelve a hacer negocios pasa por otra perdida, en esta temporada da un cambio más humano y menos materialista, se puede convertir en un personaje importante en las próxima temporadas y más por esa alianza que consiguió en el episodio final, espero que esta vez si le resulte.

Divorcio: nadie ni siquiera quería mencionar está palabra en dicha época, las mujeres divorciadas sin importar si ellas ocasionaron el divorcio o no, eran obligadas a alejarse de la sociedad, simplemente estabas casada , soltera o eras viuda, pero a las divorciadas no las perdonaban; esto también empezó a cambiar en esta temporada gracia a Bertha Russell, tal vez ella siente que ese será su futuro y está preparando el terreno para cuando le toque. Bertha es el personaje más fuerte que tiene la serie, ella siempre consigue lo que quiere, su esposo la ha apoyado en todo porque hasta cierto punto son iguales, él es implacable en los negocios, que es donde toma las decisiones, pero ella lo es con las decisiones que toma con respecto a la familia y la sociedad, pues ese es el campo que ella maneja y hasta el momento me parecía que era la razón por la que está pareja era perfecta, hasta que George cambia de perspectiva cuando casi queda en la ruina además de sufrir un intento de asesinato ¿Qué pasará con ellos? Esperemos la próxima temporada.

In this season we saw enough of the life of people of color and their past, also of the racism among themselves because of the difference of being born in freedom or born into slavery. Peggy continues to be that woman fighter for the rights of women and her race, who works, writes and is a journalist, but as we saw she has a past that can cloud her future and although for a moment that is what it seemed we ended up with a rather nice love story that overcame the racist and overprotective mother-in-law, as well as Doctor Kirkland (in love with Peggy and a man of color) became a fundamental part of George Russell’s staying alive.

En cuanto a los trabajadores de las casa Van Rhijn y Russell, en la segunda vimos amores y traición pero en la primera es donde hubo más movimiento, pues Jack logró consolidar el negocio del reloj que invento y se asoció con Larry Russell, por un momento pensé que Larry iba a tomar partido e iba a quedar como el inventor dejando a Jack sin nada, pero demostró que es el muchacho que se ha mostrado desde la primera temporada y Jack dejó de ser un lacayo para convertirse en un señor con sus propios lacayos.

En esta temporada vimos bastante de la vida de las personas de color y su pasado, también del racismo entre ellos mismo por la diferencia de nacer en libertad o haber nacido en esclavitud. Peggy sigue siendo esa mujer luchadora por los derechos de las mujeres y su raza, que trabaja, escribe y es periodista, pero como vimos tiene un pasado que puede nublar su futuro y aunque por un momento eso es lo que parecía terminamos con una historia de amor bastante bonita que superó a la suegra racista y sobreprotectora, así como el Doctor Kirkland (enamorado de Peggy y hombre de color) se convirtió en parte fundamental de que George Russell siga con vida.

I don’t know if I went overboard and told more than I should have but as I said there were many things that happened in this season and I missed many more, there were many changes that are occurring in the series and that are part of the story, as what I said about the treatment of divorced women, the struggle of women for the right to vote, valuing professionalism regardless of skin color, the rise of the classes, the decline of society as it was known and even the acceptance by the family to sexual preference. I think it is more than demonstrated that I liked this season a lot, I think more than the previous one because it showed more action and many more twists in the development. Now I will wait for the premiere of the fourth season already confirmed by HBO.

No sé si me pasé de la raya y conté más de lo que debería pero como dije fueron muchas las cosas que pasaron en esta temporada y me faltaron muchísimas más, fueron muchos cambios que se están presentando en la serie y que son parte de la historia, como lo que comenté del trato a las divorciadas, la lucha de las mujeres por el derecho al voto, valoración al profesionalismo sin importar el color de piel, ascenso de las clases, decadencia de la sociedad tal cual se conocía y hasta la aceptación por parte de la familia a la preferencia sexual. Creo que queda más que demostrado que me gustó mucho está temporada, creo que más que la anterior pues mostró más acción y muchas más giros en el desarrollo. Ahora esperaré el estreno de la cuarta temporada confirmada ya por HBO.

Yesterday I found a film that I thought was beautiful. It caught my attention because one of the characters looked a lot like Klara Sesemann from the series Heidi, but then I realized that the story was totally different. This is about Anna, a girl who has some problems adapting to society and the environment that surrounds her, which is why a doctor advised that she be in a quieter environment, so she went to live with relatives in a town, but despite the efforts of some girls her age to try to get closer to her, Anna remained isolated, relating only with the relatives with whom she lived and with nature, but this situation changes drastically when she meets Marnie, a foreign girl (due to her appearance) this girl is also very lonely, apparently she has been raised only by servants and has almost no contact with anyone, the house where she lives looks abandoned, but despite everything both girls get along very well, live adventures, make confidences and manage a beautiful friendship, until little by little Anna discovers that Marnie and she have much more in common than she imagines.

Ayer encontré una película que me pareció bellísima, me llamó mucho la atención debido a que uno de los personajes se parecía mucho a Klara Sesemann de la serie Heidi, pero luego me di cuenta que la historia era totalmente diferente. Se trata de Anna, una niña que tiene algunos problemas para adaptarse a la sociedad y al entorno que la rodea, razón por la cuál un médico aconsejó que estuviese en un entorno más tranquilo, de esta manera se fue a casa de unos familiares en un pueblo, pero a pesar de los esfuerzos de algunas niñas de su edad por intentar acercarse a ella, Anna permanecía aislada, relacionándose únicamente con los familiares con los que vivía y con la naturaleza, pero esta situación cambia drásticamente cuando conoce a Marnie, una niña extranjera (debido a su aspecto) esta niña se nota que también está muy sola, al parecer ha sido criada solo por la servidumbre y casi no tiene contacto con nadie, la casa donde vive se ve abandonada, pero a pesar de todo ambas niñas se llevan muy bien, viven aventuras, se hacen confidencias y manejan una hermosa amistad, hasta que poco a poco Anna descubre que Marnie y ella tienen muchísimo más en común de lo que imagina.

I really liked the film for several reasons. First, for all the lessons it teaches us as audiences, as it encourages the value of friendship and trust in those who are special to us, self-acceptance, and the importance of family and ancestral relationships. Both characters complement each other because they feel affinity, and this happens because each listens to the other and doesn't judge one another. They recognize each other's very own attitudes. They share the same love of nature. They both feel the need for affection and find it difficult to express themselves to other people because they think they will be misunderstood. On the other hand, the air of mystery and anachronism that surrounds Marnie, her family, and her house is extremely interesting. It makes you ask a thousand different questions, but in reality, you're not even close to understanding what's really going on.

I liked the music, the scenery, and the animation because they create a sense of relaxation and peace that matches the characters' emotions. In their moments of anguish, the environment becomes stormy and gray, and when the two play and exchange secrets, the environment becomes friendlier; in fact, these landscapes—that is, nature itself—become another character. The story also features excellent character development; the big changes are noticeable, and the story has an impressive plot twist near the end, so it's not a flat story at all.

The film conveys melancholy and sadness, but at the same time, it also conveys hope for healing through forgiveness and the discovery of one's own roots. It can be enjoyed at any age; you don't have to be a child to enjoy this beautiful film. In fact, watching it brought back beautiful memories and made me think about the sacrifices our loved ones probably made without us knowing. On the other hand, the story makes you reflect on the simplest things in life that we sometimes have and don't appreciate. Money can't buy happiness, nor love. You can buy companionship, but not friendship. Marnie's parents, for example, gave their daughter luxury and servants at her disposal, but who she really needed was them, her own parents, not the frivolous beings who even bothered her and made her suffer on purpose.

I really enjoy watching certain types of movies and TV series, but lately I haven't been able to devote much time to this activity. However, my smartphone, because that's what it is 😜, knows what I like, what I think, what I feel, and even what I want, hahaha. Doesn't the same thing happen to you? So, for some time now, it has been presenting me, especially through Instagram, with a series of recommendations for movies and series that it had simply been storing.

But everything changed a few weeks ago, when I decided to look through that list and start watching, little by little, the movies that my friend Instagram had recommended. Today I'm starting from the end, because just last night I saw a movie that I want to tell you about.

I love stories based on real life events, and this is one of them. It is the story of Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), an African-American pianist, and Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), an Italian-American man who is hired by Shirley as his driver and bodyguard during his tour of the southern United States in the 1960s.

It was a turbulent time, when racism was still very prevalent, especially in the southern states where this tour was headed.

Racial differences between whites and people of color take center stage in this story, but not only that, also between the same race and different economic levels. In addition, the theme of unconventional sexual orientation is also included.

What good is it to be a genius if you have no place anywhere? It seems somewhat contradictory, a man who, despite being black and at that time, began playing the piano at the age of two and as a child was accepted into a renowned conservatory and was the first black person to study at this type of institution.

He is a highly educated, renowned, admired man with a good financial position, who earns a good amount of money from his concerts for wealthy people, but who in some places does not have the right to use the same bathroom or dine in the same restaurant as these people.

This is a true story, and after doing a little research, I found out that Don Shirley and Tony Lip were friends until their deaths in 2013. This movie is from 2018 and its genre is comedy-drama, but I don't know... If you like this kind of story, go find it and let me know what you think.

Hola amigos cinéfilos de Hive, nuevamente paso por esta maravillosa comunidad porque he querido desde hace un tiempo compartir mis opiniones sobre algunas historias que he visto. Una cosa u otra me han obstaculizado este deseo, pero hoy estoy por aquí.

Me gusta mucho ver películas de ciertos tipos y series de televisión, pero últimamente no había podido dedicarle mucho tiempo a esta actividad. Sin embargo, mi teléfono inteligente, porque si que lo es 😜, sabe lo que me gusta, lo que pienso, lo que siento y hasta lo que quiero, jajaja. ¿No les pasa a ustedes lo mismo? Entonces, desde hace algún tiempo me ha estado presentando, especialmente a través de Instagram una serie de recomendaciones de películas y series que simplemente había ido almacenando.

Pero todo cambió hace unas pocas semanas atrás, cuando he decidido buscar en esa lista y comenzar a ver poco a poco esas películas que me ha recomendado mi amigo Instagram. Hoy empiezo de atrás hacia adelante, porque justo anoche vi una película de la cual les quiero hablar.

Me encantan las historias basadas en hechos de la vida real y esta es una de ellas. Se trata de la historia de Don Shirley, una pianista afroestadounidense y de Tony Vallelonga, un hombre italoestadounidense que es contratado por éste como chofer y guardaespaldas durante su gira por el sur de los Estados Unidos en los años 60.

Era una época turbulenta, donde aún el racismo estaba muy marcado en especial en los estados del Sur hacia donde se dirigía esta gira.

🎬Temas controvertidos

Las diferencias raciales entre blancos y personas de color cobran protagonismo en esta historia, pero no solo esto, sino también entre la misma raza y diferente nivel económico. Además, también se incluye el tema orientación sexual no convencional.

¿De que sirve ser un genio si no se tiene un lugar en ningún lado? Parece algo contradictorio, un hombre que a pesar de ser de color y en aquella época, desde los 2 años comienza a tocar el piano y de niño es aceptado en un conservatorio reconocido y es la primera persona de color en cursar estudios en este tipo de instituciones.

Es un hombre muy culto, reconocido, admirado, con una buena posición económica, que cobra una buena cantidad de dinero en sus conciertos para gente adineradas, pero que no tiene derecho en algunos lugares a usar el mismo sanitario o cenar en el mismo restaurante con este tipo de personas.

🎬 Una carga necesaria

Debido a lo difícil de las situaciones que tendría que soportar en su gira, Don Shirley, decide contratar a Tony Vallelonga, por la reputación que le precede de no dejarse intimidar por nadie y ser un golpeador conocido.

Tony Vallelonga o Tony Lip, como le decían, se enorgullecía de ser un charlatán, era irreverente, descuidado, con un apetito insaciable, pero que asumió muy bien su trabajo. Además, a pesar de los prejuicios raciales que también tenía, fue responsable al aceptar el trabajo para poder mantener a su familia y también al cumplir con las tareas específicas de su contratación.

A lo largo de la gira, y más temprano que tarde, tuvo que vivir y defender a su jefe de tratos injustos, inhumanos y despiadados y a lo largo de los meses se fue creando un vínculo entre ellos.

¿Como lo estoy contando? te parece muy por encima, bueno... entonces voy bien, porque a pesar de avisar alerta de spoiler no quiero dar demasiados detalles de otros aspectos particulares de cada uno de los personajes y las diferentes situaciones a las que tuvieron que enfrentarse.

Esta es una historia real, e investigando un poco me enteré que Don Shirley y Tony Lip fueron amigos hasta sus muertes en el año 2013. Esta película es de 2018 y su género es Comedia Dramática, pero no lo sé... Si te gusta este tipo de historias, ve y búscala y déjame tu opinión.

The story follows Carmy, a fine dining chef who inherits his brother’s small sandwich shop in Chicago. From the very beginning you realize this isn’t just a show about food — it’s about family wounds, grief, pressure, and the messy way we try to put our lives back together. The kitchen becomes a battlefield, and honestly, I couldn’t look away.

La historia sigue a Carmy, un chef de alta cocina que hereda la pequeña sandwichería de su hermano en Chicago. Desde el principio te das cuenta de que esto no es solo una serie de comida — es sobre heridas familiares, duelo, presión, y la forma tan caótica en que intentamos recomponer nuestra vida. La cocina se convierte en un campo de batalla, y la verdad, no pude apartar la mirada.

The acting blew me away. Jeremy Allen White as Carmy has this intensity that feels almost painful — you can see all the weight he carries in every expression. Ayo Edebiri as Sydney won my heart right away; she’s ambitious, smart, and brings hope into all that chaos. And Richie… uff. Annoying, exhausting, but so real. We all know a Richie.

Las actuaciones me dejaron impresionada. Jeremy Allen White como Carmy tiene una intensidad que casi duele — se nota todo el peso que carga en cada mirada. Ayo Edebiri como Sydney me conquistó de inmediato; es ambiciosa, inteligente y le da un rayo de esperanza a todo ese caos. Y Richie… uff. Desesperante, agotador, pero tan real. Todos conocemos a un Richie.

What I loved most is the energy: the quick cuts, the tight camera angles, that suffocating feeling of being trapped in a kitchen where everything could collapse at any moment. Episode 7 (“Review”) literally had me biting my nails — I don’t think I’ve felt that much tension in a series in a long time.

Yes, it can be overwhelming. There were moments I had to pause just to breathe. But maybe that’s the point — kitchens are overwhelming, grief is overwhelming, and trying to prove yourself to everyone (including yourself) is exhausting. The show doesn’t let you escape those feelings, it makes you live them.

Lo que más amé es la energía: los cortes rápidos, la cámara tan cerrada, esa sensación sofocante de estar atrapada en una cocina donde todo puede derrumbarse en cualquier segundo. El episodio 7 (“Review”) me tuvo literalmente mordiéndome las uñas — hacía mucho que una serie no me generaba tanta tensión.

Sí, puede llegar a ser abrumadora. Hubo momentos en los que tuve que pausar para respirar. Pero quizás de eso se trata — las cocinas son abrumadoras, el duelo es abrumador, y querer demostrarle al mundo (y a ti misma) que puedes con todo es agotador. La serie no te deja escapar de esas emociones, te obliga a vivirlas.

Final thoughts? The Bear season 1 is raw, chaotic, emotional, and yes, very good… but it’s not flawless. Sometimes the pace is so overwhelming that it borders on exhausting, and there are moments where the shouting and constant stress feel repetitive rather than meaningful. Still, that’s also part of its charm: it’s supposed to be uncomfortable, like real life in a kitchen. The characters are strong, though some secondary ones could have been developed a bit more instead of just orbiting around Carmy. My rating: 9/10. It manages to leave a strong mark, even when it frustrates you. And honestly… I’m already curious (and yes, a bit nervous) about how season 2 will handle the pressure.

¿Conclusión? La primera temporada de The Bear es cruda, caótica, emotiva y, sí, muy buena… pero no perfecta. A veces el ritmo es tan intenso que se vuelve agotador, y hay momentos en los que los gritos y el estrés constante se sienten repetitivos en lugar de profundos. Aun así, creo que ese es también parte del punto: incomodar, como pasa en una cocina real. Los personajes están bien construidos, aunque algunos secundarios podrían haber tenido más desarrollo en vez de girar siempre alrededor de Carmy. Mi nota: 9/10. Logra dejar huella, incluso cuando te irrita. Y la verdad… ya estoy con mucha curiosidad (y un poquito de miedo) por ver cómo manejarán la presión en la temporada 2.

Ok, en miércoles de reseñas les hablaré de The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes), una película de corte musical precuela de la trilogía de los Juegos del Hambre, con esta historia descubriremos cómo Snow se convierte en el villano que conocimos en las primeras entregas.

Para iniciar puedo decirles que no le tenía nada de Fe a esta precuela por el escándalo con Rachel Zegler, quien dio vida a Blancanieves recientemente y se hizo de una reputación en internet un poco cuestionable, no obstante en esta precuela ella es una de las protagonistas de Panem dándole vida a Lucy Gray Baird.

SINOPSIS:

Panem busca la forma de vender los Juegos del Hambre como una estrategia para los estudiantes más privilegiados del Capitolio, en pocas palabras, formaba parte del currículum estudiantil. En esta entrega la historia tiene un hilo conductor y es el de Coriolanus Snow, un joven que busca devolver su estatus y reputación a su familia en plena crisis económica, al mismo tiempo que vive un apasionado amor con la tributo Lucy Gray que lo impulsa a repensar sus creencias y ambición.

Estética

Como les mencioné antes, no le tenía fe a esta historia porque particularmente creo que esta trilogía nos dió todo lo que tenía para dar. Sin embargo, la curiosidad de ver cómo nace la extravangancia en el Capitolio, cómo evoluciona Snow y se convierte en una figura tan poderosa en Panem, y sobretodo cómo inician los Juegos del Hambre es lo que mueve todo.

Sin embargo, esta precuela tenía la vara muy alta porque las cuatro entregas de Los Juegos del Hambre están marcadas por una estética impecable, todo está muy bien cuidado. Así que como fan, no creí posible que pudieran alcanzar esa calidad y me callaron la boca.

Primero, para entender esta estética hay que ser muy fan de la trilogía y haber leído los libros. Segundo, estamos en el inicio de un mundo distópico con carencias muy marcadas, tensiones políticas, familias rotas. No está presente la opulencia, y el espectáculo de las primeras entregas.

En pocas palabras, la estética nos revela el contexto social e histórico de Panem, muy marcada por una colorimetría vintage, con toques de steampunk bastante atractiva y envolvente.

LA HISTORIA:

Pero lo más destacado de esta cinta son los guiños que hacen a todo el Universo de Los Juegos del Hambre que conocimos junto a Katniss Everdeen, las rosas, los Sinsajos, el Distrito 12, el amor, el poder y la ambición también son elementos de esta narrativa distópica.

Lucy Gray es un gran personaje lleno de valentía, fuerza y mucho coraje para enfrentar los Juegos del Hambre, quizás fue el talón de Aquiles de Snow quien ante ella revivía emociones que lo hacían ser otra persona, menos frío y más empático.

Esta precuela es como otras tantas historias que buscan humanizar a los villanos, explicar cómo llegaron a una posición de vileza. Sin embargo, Snow sabía muy bien el camino que estaba recorriendo y si algo me disgustó de la película es que le pusieron mucho peso al amor y menos foco al conflicto personal de Coriolanus.

Snow a diferencia de sus compañeros de clases, sentía fascinación por Los Juegos del Hambre, algo despertaba en él que traspasaba sus valores y creencias. El amor, por más fuerte que fuere, no cambiaría su esencia ¿O sí?

Lucy Gray

Ok, hablemos de la preciosa actuación de Rachel Zegler dándole vida a Lucy Gray. Pese a que ya conocía un poco de la reputación de la actriz, me sorprendió gratamente su desempeño en este papel. Ya que esta precuela tiene aspectos de musical. Y la voz de Lucy Gray es su gancho.

Transmite mucho a través de sus canciones que te olvidas por un momento de la violencia en Los Juegos del Hambre y te conmueve de sobremanera. A mí sí me gustó su papel, en ocasiones sus expresiones me daban gracia porque tenía un carisma particular, hasta me hacía desconfiar. Pero a grandes rasgos, Lucy es un tremendo personaje y logra hechizar, además de Snow, al público.

CONCLUSIÓN

Es una buena película, te da un poco más de contexto sobre quién era Snow, cómo sus obsesiones marcaron un antes y un después en la ejecución de Los Juegos del Hambre, conocemos más de Panem y de que no todo fue brillo en el Capitolio. Y además, conocemos esa historia que lo convirtió en el hombre frívolo que es, además de descubrir porqué sentía tanta rabia contra el Distrito 12.

Pero si no eres seguidor de la trilogía, posiblemente no entiendas ni la cuarta parte de lo que sucede en Panem, pese a que se habla de todo un poco la esencia misma de la película es abordar una perspectiva del origen de los Juegos.

También me gustó que no es una cinta literal, que te sugiere el final y el inicio de nuevas etapas, mantiene al espectador atando cabos para entender escenas y diálogos.
