I hope you are all doing well and with lots of good anime, on this wonderful occasion I want to share with you all a brief review and analysis of an anime that the first time I saw it left me somewhat impacted by its story and message, I'm talking about Psycho-Pass.

Cómo están mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de anime espero se encuentren todos muy bien y con full anime bueno en esta en estar tan linda ocasión quiero compartir con todos una pequeña reseña y análisis de un anime el cual la primera vez que lo vi me dejó algo impactado por su historia y mensaje , estoy hablando de Psycho - Pass.

The story presents a futuristic world where a person's criminal coefficient can be measured by a psychological scanner, which determines if the person can commit crimes and if he is a possible criminal, our protagonist Akane Tsunemori, inspector recently assigned to "Unit 1" for her high grades at the university and her high IQ allows her to reach the unit and meet Shiya Kōgami who was previously also an inspector (but for mysterious reasons, I will not give spoiler of what happened to him) is demoted from his rank and placed as executor of said unit working together with Akane for the resolution and maintenance of peace in the city, along with the other members of the unit including Inspector Nobuchika Ginoza and executors Tomomi Masaoka, Shusei Kagari and Yayoi Konizuka.

La historia nos presenta un mundo futurista donde el coeficiente criminal de una persona se puede medir ,mediante un escáner psicológico ,el cual determina si la persona puede cometer crímenes y si es un posible criminal, nuestra protagonista Akane Tsunemori inspectora recién asignada a la "Unidad 1" por sus altas calificaciones en la universidad y su alto coeficiente intelectual le permite llegar a la unidad y conocer a Shiya Kōgami que anteriormente también era inspector( pero por cuestiones misteriosas ,no daré spoiler de lo que le pasó )es bajado de su rango y puesto como ejecutor de dicha unidad trabajando en conjunto con Akane para la resolución y el mantenimiento de la paz en la ciudad, junto con los demás miembros de la unidad entre esos el inspector Nobuchika Ginoza y los ejecutores Tomomi Masaoka, shusei Kagari y Yayoi Konizuka.

The first season apart from explaining how the rigid psychological scanners work by the "sibyl system" of how this futuristic world is managed, they also present us with certain cases that make the interest of Akane and her subordinate Shinya change and investigate further why the system fails since there is a character with a low crime coefficient but they are potential criminals and causes the city to melt into chaos, then the mission of these heroes changes to catch him, but they have to do it on their own since the system in general reveals itself against them and they do not have the support of the main authorities. The end of the first season leaves a little confusion since Akane along with Shinya discover how the Silby system works and operates, which are pure brains of very intelligent people with a very high IQ which are organized in the main tower of the organization that developed this system, they tell Akane to join them however she rejects it and there ends the first season.

La primera temporada aparte de explicar cómo funcionan los escáneres psicológicos rígidos por el "sistema sibyl" de como se maneja este mundo futurístico, también nos presentan ciertos casos que hacen que el interés de Akane y su subordinado Shinya cambien e investiguen más a fondo el por qué, el sistema falla ya que existen un personaje con un coeficiente bajo de criminalística pero son delincuentes en potencia y hace que la ciudad se funda en un caos ,entonces la misión de estos héroes cambia a atraparlo ,pero lo tienen que hacer por su cuenta ya que el sistema en general se revela contra de ellos y no cuentan con el apoyo de las autoridades principales. El final de la primera temporada deja un poquito de confusión ya que Akane junto con Shinya descubren cómo funciona y opera el sistema Silby, que son puros cerebreros de personas muy inteligentes con un coeficiente intelectual muy alto los cual están organizados en las torre principal de la organización que desarrolló este sistema, estos le dicen a Akane que se une a ellos sin embargo ella lo rechaza y ahí termina la primera temporada.

Psycho - Pass is a very underrated anime gem since its premiere apart from being a cyberpunk science fiction story among other currents, is also very well structured, it has influence from other anime and real-life stories and a philosophical message, since in the course of the story Akane is a person who follows the system and agrees with it, however when she gets deeper into it and sees situations that do not seem right to her, she begins to awaken, questioning many, one of them is the fact that people with a zero criminal coefficient which should be exemplary citizens are full of evil and cause havoc in the city being the worst criminals in the world and for this reason the system does not judge them, but there are people who do not have the intention of killing or doing anything wrong, unfortunately they have a high criminal coefficient and therefore are judged, taken to rehabilitation centers or placed as executioners, this was the case of several executioners in unit 1. I found the anime interesting, I only saw the first season, however it has three seasons and without more I Equivoco has two films. Psycho touches on philosophical issues such as justice and the relativity of this concept, what is truly right or wrong apart from many sociological themes that show the different realities that are not exempt from our daily lives, it is also an anime that reflects moral and ethical themes such as the existential crisis that Akane presents when she breaks what for her for so many years was the right thing to do and is on the wrong side of the scale in a system that is so advanced but at the same time full of flaws and double-moralism.

Psycho - Pass es una joyita de anime muy infravalorada ya que su premiere aparte de ser una historia de ciencia ficción cyberpunk entre otras corrientes, también está muy bien estructurado tiene influencia de otros animes e historias de la vida real y un mensaje filosófico, ya que en el recorrido de la historia Akane es una persona que sigue el sistema y está de acuerdo con el, sin embargo cuando se va adentrando en este y ve situaciones que no le parecen empieza su despertar, cuestionando muchas , una de ellas es el hecho de personas con un coeficiente criminal nulo las cuales deberían ser ciudadanos ejemplares están llenos de maldad y hacen destrozos en la ciudad siendo los peores criminales del mundo y por esto el sistema no los juzga, pero existen personas que no tienen la intención de matar ni de hacer nada malo desgraciadamente tienen el coeficiente criminal alto y por ello sin juzgadas, llevadas a centros de rehabilitación o las colocan como ejecutadores, este fue el caso de varios ejecutadores en la unidad 1 .Me pareció interesante el anime, yo nada más vi la primera temporada, sin embargo tiene tres temporadas y sin más no me equivoco tiene dos películas.Psycho toca filosóficos como lo es la justicia y la relatividad de este concepto ,lo que verdaderamente está bien o no aparte de muchos temas de sociología que muestran las diferentes realidades que no están exentas de lo nuestro día a día, también es un anime que refleja temas morales y éticos como lo es la crisis existencial que presenta Akane al romper lo que para ella durante tanto tantos años era lo correcto y estar del lado incorrecto de la balanza en un sistema tan avanzado pero a su vez cuadrado fallos y doble moralista.

If what you want is to watch an anime to think for a while, make confounding theories, study cool topics of sociology, philosophy and history, Psycho-Pass is for you. The first season left me speechless and I'm waiting to see the second and third seasons, apart from the movies; It is an anime with a lot of lore and enough material to be successful, although for me it is a story that criticizes the system and its flaws and what these flaws can do to individuals in a negative way apart from showing both sides of the same coin, and that not all bad people are objects that do not deserve a second chance and not all people who appear to be good really are, that is why I say that it is an anime that shows the double standards of a system and various perspectives such as Akane's and Inspector Ginoza's who follows the system to the letter not wanting to accept the damage that it can achieve, we are shown psychological and behavioral profiles of attitudes that we can see day by day in topics such as politics where there are people who support a party to the death and do not want to study or observe more than their noses, others who challenge the system and the neutrals who do not care about anything as long as it does not affect them although it clearly will affect them, I think the most present sociological theme here would be the banality of evil and how far they can reach concepts such as ethics, morality and good.

Si lo que quieres es ver un anime para pensar un rato, hacer teorías confulativas, estudiar temas chidos de sociología filosofía e historia Psycho -Pass es para ti ,la primera temporada me dejó boquiabierta ando esperando verme la segunda y tercera temporada a parte de las películas; es un anime con mucho lore y bastante material para ser exitoso, aunque para mí es una historia que critica el sistema y sus fallas y lo que estas fallas pueden hacerle a los individuos de manera negativa aparte de mostrar los dos lados de una misma moneda ,y que no todas las personas malas son objetos que no merecen una segunda oportunidad y no todas las personas que aparentan ser buenas realmente lo son, por eso digo que es un anime que muestra la doble moral de un sistema y varias perspectivas como lo es la de Akane y la del inspector Ginoza el cual sigue al pie de la letra al sistema no queriendo aceptar el daño que este puede lograr, se nos muestran perfiles psicológicos y conductistas de actitudes que podemos ver día a día en temas como la política donde hay personas que apoyan un partido hasta la muerte y no quieren estudiar ni observar más de sus narices ,otros que desafían el sistema y los neutros a los cuales no les importa nada mientras que eso no les afecte a ellos aunque claramente les va a afectar, creo que el tema sociológico más presente aquí sería la banalidad del mal y hasta dónde pueden llegar los conceptos como la ética la moral y el bien.

The first season of The Buccaneers wasn't exactly a hit on my list of favorites, but it wasn't lousy either. It had its twists and turns, its touch of drama and, above all, enough spark to leave me curious about what would come next. And of course, when the second season arrived I thought: "ok, this is where the story can take off"... but what I found was something very different.

For me it didn't take off, it sank. Because yes, although the actors did a decent job, their characters came close to being unbearable (and some of them did it effortlessly). And it's a shame, because it was a story that promised quite a bit, but in the end it got caught up in its own drama without knowing where to move forward.

La primera temporada de Las Bucaneras no fue precisamente un hit en mi lista de favoritas, pero tampoco estuvo pésima. Tenía sus enredos, su toque de drama y, sobre todo, la suficiente chispa como para dejarme con la curiosidad de saber qué vendría después. Y claro, cuando llegó la segunda temporada pensé: “ok, aquí es donde la historia puede despegar”… pero lo que encontré fue otra cosa muy distinta.

Para mí no despegó, se hundió. Porque sí, aunque los actores hicieron un trabajo decente, sus personajes llegaron a rozar lo insoportable (y algunos lo lograron sin esfuerzo). Y es una lástima, porque era una historia que prometía bastante, pero al final se quedó atrapada en su propio drama sin saber hacia dónde avanzar.

Plot and narrative rhythm

The second season of The Buccaneers is not that it has become more complex or slower; the problem is that it leaned towards an exaggerated drama that borders on the implausible. The characters move between hypocritical attitudes and decisions that are difficult to empathize with, which detracts from the strength of the story. Added to this is an irregular narrative rhythm, with situations that occur too quickly or without explanation, and with several inconsistencies that do not even correspond to the "creative license" of a period series, but to the lack of historical coherence.

The love triangle between Nan, Theo and Guy, which in the first season could pass as a bearable cliché, here becomes a heavy and repetitive burden that drags a good part of the chapters. Instead of necessary or well-worked conflicts, what we find are unnecessary twists that bring more annoyance than excitement. The story doesn't feel stagnant or padded, it simply moves awkwardly towards a denouement that does little to justify everything that has dragged up to that point.

Trama y ritmo narrativo

La segunda temporada de Las Bucaneras no es que se haya vuelto más compleja ni más lenta; el problema es que se inclinó hacia un dramatismo exagerado que roza lo inverosímil. Los personajes se mueven entre actitudes hipócritas y decisiones que resultan difíciles de empatizar, lo que le resta fuerza a la historia. A esto se suma un ritmo narrativo irregular, con situaciones que ocurren demasiado rápido o sin explicación, y con varias inconsistencias que ni siquiera corresponden al “licencia creativa” de una serie de época, sino a la falta de coherencia histórica.

El triángulo amoroso entre Nan, Theo y Guy, que en la primera temporada podía pasar como un cliché soportable, aquí se vuelve una carga pesada y repetitiva que arrastra buena parte de los capítulos. En vez de conflictos necesarios o bien trabajados, lo que encontramos son giros innecesarios que aportan más molestia que emoción. La historia no se siente estancada ni rellena, simplemente avanza de manera torpe hacia un desenlace que poco logra justificar todo lo que se arrastró hasta ese punto.

Character Development

Nan St. George:

If in the first season Nan was no longer entirely sympathetic, in this second season she ended up becoming an exhausting character. And not because she was complex, but because her contradictions do not feel like a well-crafted human trait, but like a capricious back-and-forth that hurts everyone around her. She is impulsive, selfish and immature: one day she wants to save her marriage to Theo, and the next she is already planning to run away with Guy. Her changes are so rapid and drastic that it's hard to keep track of her, and worse, it's hard to justify her decisions.

Most frustratingly, despite having married to protect her sister and nephew, Nan spends much of the season complaining rather than coming to terms with the cards she chose to play. Theo is not a bad husband; on the contrary, he strikes me as a very good man. Yes, their marriage was a ""sacrifice"" (note the double quotation marks), but it wasn't the end of the world either. However, Nan insists on acting as if everything is against her, refusing to acknowledge that some of the chaos she faces comes directly from her own actions.

Desarrollo de Personajes

Nan St. George:

Si en la primera temporada Nan ya no era del todo simpática, en esta segunda terminó de convertirse en un personaje agotador. Y no porque fuese compleja, sino porque sus contradicciones no se sienten como un rasgo humano bien trabajado, sino como un vaivén caprichoso que lastima a todos los que la rodean. Es impulsiva, egoísta e inmadura: un día quiere salvar su matrimonio con Theo, y al siguiente ya planea escapar con Guy. Sus cambios son tan rápidos y drásticos que cuesta seguirle el hilo, y peor aún, cuesta justificar sus decisiones.

Lo más frustrante es que, a pesar de haberse casado para proteger a su hermana y a su sobrino, Nan pasa gran parte de la temporada quejándose en lugar de asumir las cartas que eligió jugar. Theo no es un mal esposo, al contrario, me parece un muy buen hombre. Sí, su matrimonio fue un ""sacrificio"" (nótese las doble comillas), pero tampoco era el fin del mundo. Sin embargo, Nan insiste en actuar como si todo estuviera en su contra, negándose a reconocer que parte del caos que enfrenta viene directamente de sus propios actos.

And here comes the most annoying part: her hypocrisy. She blames Lizzy and Theo for ""betraying"" her, when in fact it was she who broke the trust from the beginning. She slept with her fiancé's best friend the night before the wedding, tried to run off with him, and even married kept looking for him. This constant double standard turns her into a self-made victim, with an attitude that ends up being so unbearable that it borders on the ironic: everything she tried to avoid in order to protect her sister, ends up happening precisely because of her selfish actions.

The problem is that there is never a moment to empathize with Nan. There is no redemption, no growth, not even a hint of self-criticism. If in the first season she was just an immature and indecisive girl who wanted everyone to like her, in this second season, having more power, she only became more arrogant and haughty. Instead of evolving, she became a character that scares the viewer away, and whose presence is so heavy that it makes you want to leave the series.... But, as I like gossip, obviously I had to end it.

It is important to clarify that this is an opinion of Nan St. George's character, and it is necessary to know how to separate the character from her actress. The actress is not to blame for having been given a bad script.

Y aquí llega lo más molesto: su hipocresía. Culpa a Lizzy y a Theo de ""traicionarla"", cuando en realidad fue ella quien rompió la confianza desde el principio. Se acostó con el mejor amigo de su prometido la noche antes de la boda, intentó huir con él, y aún casada siguió buscándolo. Esa constante doble moral la convierte en una víctima fabricada por sí misma, con una actitud que termina siendo tan insoportable que roza lo irónico: todo lo que trataba de evitar para proteger a su hermana, termina ocurriendo precisamente por sus acciones egoístas.

El problema es que nunca hay un momento para empatizar con Nan. No hay redención, ni crecimiento, ni siquiera un atisbo de autocrítica. Si en la primera temporada era solo una chica inmadura e indecisa que quería agradar a todos, en esta segunda, al tener más poder, solo se volvió más arrogante y soberbia. En vez de evolucionar, se convirtió en un personaje que ahuyenta al espectador, y cuya presencia es tan pesada que te hace querer abandonar la serie... Pero, como me gusta el chisme, obviamente tenía que terminarla.

Importante aclarar que es una opinión del personaje de Nan St. George, y hay que saber separar el personaje de sus actriz. La actriz no tiene la culpa de que le hayan dado un mal guión.

Theodore, Duke of Tintagel

Theo is, ironically, my "least crumbly" friend. All it took was for an attractive woman to pay attention to him, for him to be half in love. And yet, I never disliked him. Rather, I saw him as someone who had grown up in a gilded cage called a duchy and all he longed for was to be free, to fly on his own. Nan represented that promise of freedom, but the sad thing is that in the end she did just what he feared most: marry him not out of sincere love, but for his title and power. That betrayal of his wishes seemed cruel to me, and not because Nan was "the villain," but because no one deserves a marriage founded on a lie of that caliber.

In this season I appreciated him more because he showed himself aware of what he wanted, he allowed himself to follow his heart and looked for paths outside the established, even if they were socially frowned upon. He tried with Nan, but I wouldn't stand living with her either😬 What hurt me is that Theo was a puppet inside the story: his mother, his wife and even his best friend pulled the strings at their convenience, without giving him the place he deserved. Still, I agreed with the final decision he made, and although I don't know if there will be a third season, the only thing I hope is that the narrative justice he was denied so far will come in the form of genuine happiness.

Theodore, Duque de Tintagel

Theo es, irónicamente, mi amigo “el menos migajero”. Bastaba con que una mujer atractiva le prestara atención para que él ya estuviera medio enamorado. Y aun así, nunca me cayó mal. Más bien lo vi como alguien que había crecido en una jaula dorada llamada ducado y lo único que anhelaba era ser libre, volar por su cuenta. Nan representaba esa promesa de libertad, pero lo triste es que al final ella hizo justo lo que él más temía: casarse con él no por amor sincero, sino por su título y poder. Esa traición a sus deseos me pareció cruel, y no porque Nan fuera “la villana”, sino porque nadie merece un matrimonio cimentado en una mentira de ese calibre.

En esta temporada lo valoré más porque se mostró consciente de lo que quería, se permitió seguir su corazón y buscó caminos fuera de lo establecido, aunque fueran mal vistos socialmente. Lo intentó con Nan, pero yo tampoco soportaría vivir con ella😬 Lo que me dolió es que Theo fue una marioneta dentro de la historia: su madre, su esposa y hasta su mejor amigo movieron los hilos a su conveniencia, sin darle el lugar que merecía. Aun así, estuve de acuerdo con la decisión final que tomó, y aunque no sé si habrá tercera temporada, lo único que espero es que la justicia narrativa que le negaron hasta ahora llegue en forma de felicidad genuina.

Lizzy Elmsworth

Lizzy and Mabel have been my favorites since the first season, and in this second season Lizzy shined again (partially). What I like most about her is that she's not a flamboyant character, but a genuine one: assertive, resilient, and with the ability to be kind while still speaking her mind. Many criticize her for the affair with Theo, but I feel that Lizzy was indeed loyal to Nan. She was engaged to someone else, hid Guy's letters so as not to interfere with her friend's marriage, and supported Nan when she decided to go with Guy, even knowing how controversial it was.

In the end, Nan always made it clear that she didn't love Theo and that their marriage was a sacrifice,, that she was unhappy, so when both -Theo and Lizzy- thought Nan would never come back, what happened was more human than malicious. Yes, Lizzy disrespected her fiancé, but that mistake also made her more complex, more real. Plus, that unexpected romance gave us one of the best scenes of the series: Theo's speech to Lizzy before their wedding, where he asks her not to settle for the bare minimum, not to choose him or Hector, but to choose herself. Beautiful✨ For me, Lizzy embodies a more mature and realistic view of love and life at that time, and that's precisely why it generated so much empathy for me.

Lizzy Elmsworth

Lizzy y Mabel han sido mis favoritas desde la primera temporada, y en esta segunda Lizzy volvió a brillar (aunque parcialmente). Lo que más me gusta de ella es que no es un personaje extravagante, sino genuino: firme, resiliente y con la capacidad de ser amable sin dejar de decir lo que piensa. Muchos la critican por el affaire con Theo, pero yo siento que Lizzy sí fue leal a Nan. Ella estaba comprometida con otro, ocultó las cartas de Guy para no interferir en el matrimonio de su amiga y apoyó a Nan cuando decidió irse con Guy, aun sabiendo lo polémico que era.

Al final, Nan siempre dejó claro que no amaba a Theo y que su matrimonio era un sacrificio, que era infeliz, así que cuando ambos —Theo y Lizzy— pensaron que Nan no volvería jamás, lo que sucedió fue más humano que malicioso. Sí, Lizzy le faltó el respeto a su prometido, pero ese error también la volvió más compleja, más real. Además, ese romance inesperado nos regaló una de las mejores escenas de la serie: el discurso de Theo a Lizzy antes de su boda, donde le pide que no se conforme con lo mínimo, que no lo elija ni a él ni a Héctor, sino que se escoja a sí misma. Hermoso✨ Para mí, Lizzy encarna una visión más madura y realista del amor y la vida en aquella época, y justamente por eso me generó tanta empatía.

Is there anything I liked?

One of the successes of the series is, without a doubt, its visual section: the costumes and scenery are beautiful, colorful and well elaborated. It is a delight to look at, although I must admit that sometimes that eagerness for aesthetics won out over historical accuracy, and that took me a little out of the experience. The same thing happened with the soundtrack: although it accompanied the important moments, on several occasions it felt anticlimactic, as if it didn't quite fit with what was happening.

On the other hand, the subplots were a pleasant surprise. In this season they felt more genuine, better constructed and with an emotional touch that really hit home. There was even one scene in particular that broke me and made me cry, because not only was it well written, but it conveyed pain and truth. Those kinds of moments are what elevate the story and make watching it not completely a waste of time.

¿Hay algo que me gustó?

Uno de los aciertos de la serie es, sin duda, su apartado visual: los vestuarios y la escenografía son preciosos, coloridos y bien elaborados. Es un deleite a la vista, aunque debo admitir que a veces ese afán por la estética le ganó a la fidelidad histórica, y eso me sacó un poco de la experiencia. Lo mismo pasó con el soundtrack: si bien acompañaba los momentos importantes, en varias ocasiones se sintió anticlimático, como si no terminara de encajar con lo que estaba pasando.

Por otro lado, las subtramas fueron una grata sorpresa. En esta temporada se sintieron más genuinas, mejor construidas y con un toque emocional que realmente llegó. Incluso hubo una escena en particular que me quebró y me hizo llorar, porque no solo estaba bien escrita, sino que transmitía dolor y verdad. Ese tipo de momentos son los que elevan la historia y hacen que verla no sea completamente una pérdida de tiempo.

In conclusion, this season was like that expensive dress you see in the window: beautiful, full of details, but when you try it on, you discover that it doesn't fit quite right. It has some beautiful things - the costumes, the set design, some subplots that really touched the heart - but it also stumbles in what matters most: coherence, historical fidelity and narrative rhythm.

Still, I'm left with the moments that shone, those that managed to humanize the characters and shake me with emotion. In the end, what this series reminded me is that not everything that looks perfect is perfect... and that sometimes the imperfect, the genuine and the painful is what ends up connecting the most✨

En conclusión, esta temporada fue como ese vestido carísimo que ves en la vitrina: hermoso, lleno de detalles, pero cuando te lo pruebas, descubres que no ajusta del todo bien. Tiene cosas preciosas —los vestuarios, la escenografía, algunas subtramas que realmente llegaron al corazón— pero también tropieza en lo que más importa: la coherencia, la fidelidad histórica y el ritmo narrativo.

Aun así, me quedo con los momentos que brillaron, esos que lograron humanizar a los personajes y sacudirme con emoción. Al final, lo que esta serie me recordó es que no todo lo que luce perfecto lo es… y que a veces lo imperfecto, lo genuino y lo doloroso es lo que más termina conectando✨

Some movies touch on topics or show realities that deeply affect us, making us reflect, cry, and sometimes even realize that we often complain about trivial things. They can also lead us to examine the quality of some of our relationships.

Two years ago, I reviewed the movie I'm going to mention today. I don't even want to reread that review because I might repeat something I already wrote, and that's not my intention. The movie in question is called Taegukgi Hwinallimyeo, which was titled Brotherhood of War in the Americas.

This Korean film tells the story of two brothers who, at the time when the country was divided in two due to political ideologies, end up being recruited and serving on the front lines. The older brother, having become the head of the family, sacrifices himself by working as a boot cleaner and aspiring to be a great shoemaker, so that his mother, fiancée (who is also in charge of their younger siblings) but above all for his younger brother, who is suffering from an illness and wants to go to university.

However, the older brother's desire to save his younger brother is so strong that what begins as an action to get his brother off the battlefield turns into something else, as the horrors of war exacerbate the situation, and the older brother is not exactly very communicative, so his behavior causes a dispute between them.

This film is overwhelming for me because it shows, in a very raw way, situations that can be experienced on any war front or battlefield, such as the hunger that troops may be exposed to if they are isolated and supplies do not reach them, which also includes medical care. A raw scene in which a man is wounded in the abdomen and operated on in precarious conditions shows how he suffers from a severe infection, screams in pain, and even has worms. It is very raw and could undoubtedly happen on any front.

The whole situation depicted in the film reminded me of how difficult any situation can be on a declared war front or in any other conflict, how soldiers can become demoralized and even psychologically affected by extreme situations.

On the other hand, something that affected me greatly was seeing how the mother of these brothers and her future daughter-in-law had to do whatever was necessary to survive, as they were two women alone with small children. The young woman's decision to attend a meeting in search of food led to her arrest, which did not end well for her, her brother-in-law, or her boyfriend.

That specific part of the film reminds me a lot of the situation in my country, where political tendencies have become so radicalized that some talk about killing those who think differently. In fact, it has happened. There was a very notorious case a few years ago in which, in the midst of protests, a young man was accused of having a certain political inclination, and those present doused him with gasoline and set him on fire. Days later, the young man died in a hospital.

Another aspect of this film is how the difficult situation pits the brothers against each other. One changes to the point of seeming to have lost his mind, believing that he has lost everything that was important to him.

Taegukgi Hwinallimyeo begins by showing us how one of the characters is now an old man and receives a call to confirm his identity after remains are found in an excavation. In the end, we see how the whole story focuses on the need for closure and a farewell from a brother who waited for the other to reunite and fulfill a promise. I think those moments are what bring the most tears and feelings to all of us who have seen this movie.

Now, as for whether I like to watch movies of this type, no, but when I come across one, I take the opportunity to analyze myself and my surroundings, because I believe that their purpose, beyond being watched, is for us to analyze what we have around us and within us.

Man, I just finished watching Teogonia.

And wow, let me tell you, I got really hyped with Kai fights. You know when you step into a story and suddenly you’re completely inside the universe the authors built? That’s exactly what I felt, I think. Teogonia is not just another generic fantasy; it has something ancestral, brutal, and beautiful at the same time, that stuck with me from the very first scenes.

Right away, the world of Tsukasa Tanimai with illustrations by Kouichiro Kawano hooked me in.

A world where humans face semi-human apes...

The Gray Apes, and something like “Pig Tribes” that invade human lands, everything very raw, very in-your-face. The setting throws you right into this harsh reality and you feel the weight of war in every frame. But what really broke me was the moment when Kai takes the fatal blow, and does not die, but instead awakens memories of another life, from a world with strange, distant technology. That’s when I thought: “wait… this could either work really well, or be super cliché.” And look, it worked. The flashbacks are not just there to dump exposition, they are like cracks in the protagonist’s reality that change everything.

I loved how it was handled with subtlety. The isekai element is there, but it does not scream “I woke up in another world and I am OP.” It is more like a slow infiltration of another life into the guy’s thoughts.

I read on Reddit people saying:

“This looked so promising until ‘the memories from a past life’ part.” (Reddit)

And I get the shock. It is so well stitched together that it does not let you start off dismissive. And then there were others saying…

“Just finished watching it. Surpassed my expectations. … Rare case of a hyped anime that’s actually fucking good.” (Reddit)

That line had me grinning, because it summed up exactly how I felt when it ended: “Damn, that hit harder than I thought.”

Of course, it is not perfect. Honestly, I thought the beginning was slow and sometimes the animation wobbled.

Nothing that broke immersion completely, but you could feel it was a limited-budget production (IMDb, Anime Planet). IMDb shows an average score of 6.8/10, and some people even call it “ok” or “mid” (IMDb). And on the Anime-Planet forum, some folks said they were torn between liking it and getting annoyed:

“Every time I started to like it, something would make me hate it… Overall it was OK to watch, I guess.” (Anime Planet)

I agree. I felt like Kai takes steps forward and then suddenly slips on an emotional banana peel and regresses. Still, his growth won me over; there is something authentic in his evolution from villager to someone aware of the weight he carries. Without becoming “OP” on purpose, just a person dealing with power that landed in his lap. I like that balance.

There was also that strange vibe of “I almost cried out of frustration with the first two episodes. Dropped it.” (Reddit). Man… I almost quit too. There is a heavy emotional beat that shakes you. But I kept going, and I am glad I did.

In the end, what really got me was this mix of dark fantasy, existential journey, colliding worlds, all wrapped in a traditional aesthetic that felt cozy to me, like a Studio Ghibli but darker, as one user said:

“Nothing overly complicated… reminds me of an early Studio Ghibli… refreshing.” (IMDb)

In other words, it has a soul.

It has direction by Kunihiro Mori, script by Tomoyasu Okubo, music by Kenji Fujisawa, opening theme by Aimi Noda, ending by STU48. All this shows up in the credits and adds texture. At times I felt the music lifted the universe and blended in harmony with Kai’s emotions (Wikipedia, IntoxiAnime).

I felt the story wanted to talk about justice, about rebellion against old divine rules, about memories that force you to see the world through new eyes, and if that is worked on carefully, it could become really impactful in a possible second season. Fans even suggested the anime deserved another season on Reddit (Reddit).

You know that moment when curiosity and dread pull you in opposite directions, but you still can’t resist taking that one step into the darkness? That’s exactly what watching Hell Girl felt like for me. It’s one of those anime series you don’t just watch you experience. And honestly, I wanted to see the darkness in her.

The premise seems simple at first: there’s a mysterious website, accessible only at midnight, where you can type the name of the person you want to send straight to Hell. Sounds like an urban legend, right? But in the world of Hell Girl, it’s terrifyingly real. The moment you type in that name, a pale, crimson-eyed girl named Ai Enma appears, dressed in her dark sailor school uniform. She offers you a deal: she’ll drag your tormentor to Hell, but when you die… your soul is hers too. It’s not a free pass — it’s a contract sealed in shadow.

Each episode feels like a miniature horror drama about human suffering and pain this bullying, betrayal, abuse, heartbreak, and I was left with this pit in my chest after every single one. I did not only see people take revenge, I saw the burden of emotions that brought them to that point. It is non-glamorous, it is not about good or bad men. It is something that is about people who are brought to the brink where justice is clouded and revenge begins to seem like an option.

And Ai Enma? She’s mesmerizing. Her deadpan tone, her unflinching face, the repetition of the same eerie line to send someone off... it sent chills up my spine and that is saying something! There is something tragic with her as well though - some melancholy that reminds you that she is not just some cold supernatural creature.

My favorite thing about Hell Girl was that it makes you doubt yourself. Would you type in that name, were you hurt badly enough? And were you to… would it be worth the price? The show does not provide you with uncomplicated answers. Rather, it glares at you as Ai does with her crimson eyes, and makes you sit and feel the uneasiness.

At the end of the season, it was as though I had been walking in and out of other peoples nightmares, but oddly, I could not stop. It is dark, it is disturbing and it evokes a whisper that you cannot get out of your head.

Hell Girl is not a weekend watch when you want something supernatural horror mixed with emotional stories. It is one of those experiences that will haunt you even when the screen blacks out.
