When I'm asked about my go-to genre in a movie, I don't blink twice before answering that question because I know my all-time go-to genre in a movie and that is "horror," yeah, you heard right. I love horror movies, though sometimes I get scared when I watch such movies at night, so what I do is never watch such movies at night, so I don't find myself running around the house in the middle of the night.

A few days back, I was bored and needed something to keep myself busy, then I realized I hadn't seen a movie in forever, even though it's just a few days. I went to my movie app and saw this movie "Together" at first I thought it was a romantic movie "now blame that on the title" then I went further into seeing the trailer and guess what "it wasn't all romantic like I thought it to be" so that alone built something in me and I was like "let's go" and my journey into the movie started.

The Plot

"Together" tells the story of Millie Brown, who got a job at an elementary school in the countryside and decided to move there with her long-time boyfriend, Tim, an aspiring musician. Shortly before they moved, their friends hosted a party to send them off when Millie proposed to Tim in the presence of her friends. Tim hesitated to respond thereby embarrassing her at the party.

While hiking in the woods, the couple fell into a cave during a rainy storm and decided to camp inside the cave till morning. Tim drank water from a pool inside the cave, and immediately he started having traumatic memories of his mother and his late father's corpse on the bed. Waking up the next morning, Tim and Millie find their legs partially stuck together, but then they dismiss the incident after separating.

After the incident when they got home, Tim started experiencing episodes where he was physically drawn to Millie, as the symptoms persisted, Tim visited a doctor who told him what he was feeling was a panic attack, but Tim was sure it wasn't a panic attack, but something else that he couldn't explain.

Tim had a gig to perform with his friends at an event, so Millie drove him to the train station, but he experienced another episode and dragged himself to Millie, who was at her school. An angry Millie confronts him inside the kids' restroom when they found themselves making out, after which their genitals got stuck. They painfully forced themselves to separate, where they were caught by Jamie, another teacher.

During the night, Tim and Millie find themselves supernaturally drawn to each other, causing their bodies to contort unnaturally. They managed to separate themselves that night using a saw. In the morning, Millie insisted that they visit a hospital, but she couldn't find her car keys when she realized she had left them at Jamie's place. She went to get the keys and asked Tim not to do anything and to wait for her in the house.

The moment Millie left the house, Tim went to the cave to look for an answer when he came across a couple who were partially fused together because they had refused the fusion at the beginning. Millie ran home after witnessing a video of a couple who accepted the fusion when she met Tim at the driveway. He told her what he saw in the cave about the couple who refused the fusion process. Tim claims he doesn't want to end up like them, the two went home and accepted the fusion process as they fuse into a singular being.

My Review Currently, I don't know where to start as I'm speechless right now. I didn't expect the movie to be this, though. From the beginning, everything seemed different till at some point I started feeling the peak of the movie.

It takes the idea of relationship to move to the next level by fusing together to become a singular being, and that really shows the term "love." The movie was incredible because it started by showing the cracks in their relationship before taking things to a horrific turn.

Now talking about the acting, it was top-notch. I haven't seen a horror movie like this, though; it ticked all my boxes for a perfect horror movie. I'm glad I saw this movie to the end, and also there was no boring scene to behold because every scene served its purpose.

I'm gonna rate this movie a 9/10, the one is for my time spent watching the movie. Images are screenshots from my phone.

When the True Story series dropped on Netflix recently, my first thought was, “Oh, another Kevin Hart comedy? Bet he’s gonna trip and fall into a situation that gets more and more ridiculous, but in a funny way.” LOL! Kevin is a master of comedy, a one-man joke factory who has made a career of being the charming, energetic sidekick or the flustered, pint-sized hero. So when I started watching this drama on Netflix, I thought, "Okay, this is going to be a little dramatic, a little seriousness to the scenes before the jokes start", but no, I was wrong!

The true story is not a comedy, but rather a completely gripping, serious, and extremely dark thriller that will make you question everything you know about Kevin Hart, and maybe even how to properly dispose of a dead body. (Disclaimer: Please do not take this as legal or practical advice. This is a joke. Or is it? You'll have to watch the show to find out how complicated the story is.) The series takes us into the life of a highly successful stand-up comedian and actor named "The Kid", this is the character played by Kevin and at times in the story, it feels like this is actually a true story and that too of Kevin.

The plot is pretty simple: The Kid is on a comedy tour in his hometown of Philadelphia, where he's basking in the glow of a billion-dollar superhero movie deal. But his success and happiness are overshadowed by his older, spoiled brother Carlton, played with a fierce intensity by Wesley Snipes. After a night of partying that starts things off the rails, The Kid finds himself in a hotel room with a dead woman. From there, the show becomes a masterclass in how not to handle a crisis like this. A little spoiler, I had a strong feeling from the night of the party that The Kid's brother was the one framing it.

Well, instead of calling the police or even a lawyer after being in a hotel room with a dead woman, the two brothers panic. This is where the humour, or at least the dark irony, comes in. You're watching these two grown men, one a superstar and the other a walking burden, make a series of ridiculous decisions that turn into a full-blown crime saga that involves goons, blackmail, and a fanbase and overly devoted supporters, most notably Kid's team members, including his manager and bodyguard. Although he does do something very strange at the end of the series, Kid probably wanted the same thing because if he had shared everything with his bodyguard at the beginning, the problems would have been a lot less.

Let's talk about the performances, because this is where this series really shines. Kevin Hart completely breaks out of his comedic roots and proves himself capable of a completely different kind of role. He has a knack for the dramatic, and the audience knows that very well. In this series, you will see a side of him that you have never seen before: not the funny, restless guy who screams his way out of a difficult situation, but a man who is genuinely scared that all the fame, money and love he has earned over the years will be lost. It's not just a pretence of being scared; you can feel the fear, the desperation and the inner struggle of a man whose hard-earned life is falling apart with every bad decision he makes. But apart from Kid, the other actors in this series also give strong performances, such as Kid's brother, his manager, bodyguard, a die-hard obsessive fan and the villains. You don’t watch this series to find out what happens next; you watch to see how the characters react, and what new and terrible decisions they will make that will dig themselves into an even deeper hole.

Ultimately, True Story is a thrilling ride. It's a strong statement from Kevin Hart that he's not just a comedian, but a serious actor as well. Those who, like me, came in expecting to see Kevin's comedy will be pleasantly surprised by this thriller. It's a show that forces you to confront the dark side of fame and family, while reminding you that sometimes, a "true story" is something else altogether.

The movie is shown in the beginning, it is raining early in the morning, a man is sitting inside a car, several people are sitting outside a company waiting for someone, that man gets out of the car, that is the main character of this movie, that is the hero of this movie. He is the manager of this project. Meanwhile, everyone joins and discusses with the above officials about the work. Two people start misbehaving with a laborer, then the hero comes and obeys them, but listens to his prohibition. No, as soon as the hero attacks them. This is how the movie starts, the director has presented it very nicely in the beginning, you will like it from the beginning. It started very naively.

You will get the real fun of the movie from the time you watch the first 15-20 minutes of this movie, and you will understand the main story of this movie from when you start enjoying this movie. I especially like the ending of this movie. The kind of action scene shown at the finish is amazing.

No suelo hacer este tipo de publicaciones salvo que el anime en cuestión me impresione bastante, me pasó son Solo Leveling y ahora está sucediendo lo mismo. Gachiakuta es un anime que tendrá 24 capítulos y apenas vamos por el sexto, apenas hemos visto una cuarta parte por lo que creo que ya puedo tener una opinión bastante clara de lo que es y de lo que podemos esperar. Esto es obra de Bones, los mismos de My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist, Stray Dogs, etc por lo que más o menos se puede saber su fondo pero les aseguro que no su forma. El fondo serían personas con algún tipo de poder reunidos en una especie de grupo para combatir contra uno o varios enemigos.

Puede que 6 episodios para algunos nos sean suficiente pero es que ya hemos vistos cosas interesantes. La primera es que esta historia tiene como motor principal la venganza; por la forma en cómo se maneja el mundo donde vive o vivía Ludo, nuestro protagonista, podemos ver como la desigualdad y la injusticia están a la orden del día. Él lo sufrió en propias carnes por lo que jura algún día hacer pagar a los culpables de todo aquello. Este lugar está como flotando y a aquellos que incurran en algún crimen son lanzados al "abismo", un lugar lleno abarrotado de basura y en donde Ludo fue arrojado. Al final todo es un tema de clases sociales.

Ludo tiene un poder que no sabe manejar mucho y que tiene que aprender a controlar (vibras a My Hero Academia) por lo que en aquel lugar conocerá a personas que le enseñen y lo integren a una nueva vida. Él tiene muchos traumas y eso hace que a veces sea muy malhumorado pero en el fondo es un joven muy comprensivo y dulce, cosa que también deberá de aprender, a como bajar un poco su temperamento. Hasta ahora todos los capítulos ofrecen algo pero parte de la razón de este post fue el último, el del domingo pasado. Sin hacer spoiler puede que sea el comienzo del despegue de este anime, además de que fue uno muy bueno en cuanto a animación vimos como posiblemente haya cambiado algo en Ludo para bien.

Los personajes secundarios muy cool hasta el momento, te ríes con ellos, otros que son más serios; el enemigo en cuestión de los últimos episodios es muy top, alabo al actor de voz, es impresionante lo que transmite ese personaje cada vez que se expresa. La animación me parece una locura, tiene el sello característico de Bones pero de igual forma no deja de ser de mucha calidad, de los 6 por lo menos en dos hemos visto grandes cosas en este departamento. Cuida mucho los detalles. El anime es crudo, tiene violencia, mucho gore pero no solo en lo visual sino en la misma trama.

Es verdad que muchos puede que digan que esta fórmula ya está un poco repetida pero creo que lo que llama la atención de Gachiakuta es el entorno en donde se desarrolla, lo disruptivo que puede llegar a ser y lo oscura y violenta que tiene pinta que será su historia. El tema acá es que desde el mismo primer capítulo me enganchó y eso para mi es importante. Lo poco que hemos visto de Ludo hasta los momentos nos hace pensar que tendrá un desarrollo de personaje interesante y más si es movido por la venganza. Creo que también veremos mucho fanservice pero por mi está bien siempre y cuando no dañe la trama.

Finalizo con su opening, HUGs" de Paledusk. Un metal bien hardcore y potente que va mucho de la mano con toda la esencia del anime. Ya les digo que será uno de los grandes openings del año porque si, es una completa y absoluta barbaridad, tanto la canción como lo visual. Si no has visto este anime pues aprovecha que apenas van 6 episodios, tiene muy buena pinta y siento que se está hablando poco de él. Es hora de que muchos más lo conozcan.

First Impressions of Kimetsu no Yaiba

Primeras Impresiones de Kimetsu no Yaiba

Con el estreno de la nueva película de Kimetsu no Yaiba, digamos que mis amigos me están obligando ver el anime para ponerme al día y poder ir a ver la película tranquilamente. Sinceramente, nunca me había interesado por ver este anime, en su momento me dio un poco de curiosidad verlo pero preferí irme por otras cosas y fui postergando el asunto hasta que me llegó la fecha de facturación y tengo limite para ponerme al día. No creo que se encuentren spoilers en este post pero igual quedan con la advertencia.

En esta ocasión, venimos con mis primeras impresiones de la Temporada 1 de este increíble anime, específicamente de sus primeros cuatro capítulos, y una opinión un poco detallada de lo que me está pareciendo su inicio. Pero como siempre digo, primero lo primero, y lo primero es saber sobre qué va Kimetsu no Yaiba.

La historia se centra en Tanjiro Kamado como nuestro protagonista, la familia de este es asesinada por lo que en este mundo llaman “demonios” (según yo y la impresión que me han dado los pocos que he visto son más como vampiros), a excepción de su hermana Nezuko, ella se transforma en uno y Tanjiro se ve en la obligación de convertirse en un cazador de demonios para devolverle la humanidad a su hermana, o por lo menos intentarlo si es posible.

A ver, la premisa es algo “sencilla”, por lo que me han contado mis amigos, dependiendo del punto de vista de cómo lo veas puedes asociarlo con algo y tiene un trasfondo mucho más grande, pero como muchas veces las grandes historias nacen de premisas “sencillas” espero que logre sorprenderme porque he visto algunos que otros adelantos y la verdad se ve muy interesante.

Por lo general, suelo darle la oportunidad a un anime o una serie en los primeros tres/cuatro capítulos, este no fue la excepción y a decir verdad (aparte de estar obligado xd) lo seguiré viendo, está muy muy interesante el mundo que presenta y la forma en la que el autor lo maneja, con todos sus conceptos y demás temas que a priori deja ver. La introducción de los personajes estuvo muy buena, es la muestra de que no se necesitan grandes entradas o destellos por todas partes, con tal de hacer algo bien es más que suficiente.

Su animación siempre supe que es de otro nivel y me da la leve impresión de que con cada temporada se van superando así mismos, es una locura lo que he podido observar en temporadas más recientes. Aunque no me guste para nada el uso de la animación 3D debo admitir que este anime hace un excelente trabajo en ese aspecto, para estar en contra de esa animación 3D en los animes aquí se siente que pasa por debajo de la mesa, o por lo menos hasta donde he logrado ver.

Kimetsu no Yaiba es una obra que espero me termine gustando mucho, sus combates se ven que están bien adaptados y la historia, de momento, aunque pinta simple, se ve bastante prometedora y más con la inclusión de los demás personajes que faltan. De momento no haré ninguna recomendación como estoy acostumbrado porque son mis primeras impresiones y puede que mi opinión cambia, como puede que no, así que espero me siga enganchando con cada capítulo y las siguientes temporadas que me aguardan.

Pour une fois, nous sommes passé sur Prime Video.

J'avais dans la tête de regarder un autre film, mais il était temporairement indisponible. Pour ne pas perdre trop de temps à choisir, nous avons opté pour ce film russe qui parlait de portail dans le résumé.

Il dure 1h38 et se classe dans les catégories action, aventure, drame.

Synopsis :

L'histoire commence à l'heure actuelle, en Russie, près de la Neva. Une société extrait du sable d'une carrière, mais un couple s'est allongé devant le premier camion pour l'empêcher d'avancer. Ce couple veut terminer des fouilles dans un ancien abri qui date de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et plus précisément du siège de Leningrad.

Ce couple ne demande qu'un petit délai pour emporter des objets et autres témoignages de l'époque. Le responsable de la société, Mikael Shurov, arrive sur place et décide d'aller discuter avec la femme qui lui plaît bien. Elle ira lui montrer le lieu des découvertes. Mikael Shurov avait convenu d'un signe avec le camionneur pour provoquer un accident.

Malheureusement, il y a eu un quiproquo entre le camionneur et Mikael. L'accident a eu lieu. La femme se retrouve à l'hôpital et Mikael va vivre le siège de Leningrad, par épisodes.

Mon avis et petites infos :

Nous avons laissé une chance à ce film russe, en le regardant jusqu'au bout. On a déjà été agréablement surpris par des films et séries russes, mais pas ce coup-ci.

Nous nous sommes plusieurs fois demandés ce qu'ils avaient fumé, c'est dire ! Il y a bien un fil conducteur, mais c'est assez tordu comme histoire.

Bon, on s'en doutait, mais ça nous a confirmé que la vie était très dure pendant la guerre, surtout dans ces contrées très froides. La Neva était gelée en grande partie, trop fragile pour la traverser à pied et difficile à traverser avec une barque où il fallait slalomer entre les morceaux de glace et les tirs de l'ennemi.

Je ne connais pas les acteurs russes.

Je vous ai parlé de portail en début d'article, ce qui indique du voyage dans le temps, en 1941-44 en l'occurrence. C'est toujours délicat de voyager dans le temps, car nous pourrions, volontairement ou non, modifier l'une ou l'autre chose, ce qui aurait un énorme impact sur le présent.

Je ne vais pas vous conseiller ni vous déconseiller ce film. Sachez simplement que nous ne l'avons pas trouvé terrible. N'hésitez pas à nous communiquer votre avis en commentaire si vous l'avez vu.

A steady diet of CSI and its early 21st-century progeny – slick, technologically fetishistic police procedurals – fostered a dangerously pervasive myth: that American law enforcement operates with near-superhuman efficiency, armed with futuristic tools capable of effortlessly unravelling complex crimes. This glossy fiction painted a picture of omnipotent, morally unambiguous heroes operating within a frictionless system, profoundly distorting public perception of the gritty, resource-starved, and politically compromised reality of policing, particularly in struggling urban centres like Baltimore. The Wire, from its inception, served as a potent and necessary antidote to this delusion, meticulously dismantling the fantasy. Nowhere is this corrective vision more starkly, brilliantly realised than in its second episode, The Detail, which lays bare the Baltimore Police Department’s systemic impotence, forced to combat powerful criminal organisations like Avon Barksdale’s with one, often two, hands firmly tied behind its back by bureaucracy, politics, and its own internal rot.

This institutional emasculation is immediately and viscerally established through Lieutenant Cedric Daniels’ appointment to lead the nascent Barksdale detail. Far from the gleaming command centres of network television, Daniels finds his task force consigned to a damp, water-stained concrete basement devoid of basic furnishings and woefully lacking essential equipment. The human resources allocated to him are equally deficient. He inherits a roster of compromised officers: alcoholics, retirees clinging to pensions, and personnel manifestly unqualified for such a high-stakes investigation. The arrival of Officer Roland “Prez” Pryzbylewski (Jim True-Frost) epitomises the department’s dysfunction. Prez, whose incompetence is swiftly demonstrated when he accidentally discharges his weapon during a safety demonstration for colleagues, poses a genuine danger. His retention, solely due to influential family connections within the department, forces Daniels into a pragmatic but demoralising compromise: bolstering the detail with the quietly competent Detective Leander Sydnor (Corey Parker-Robinson), a necessary counterbalance to the political dead weight.

Prez’s recklessness escalates catastrophically. Succumbing to peer pressure and alcohol alongside Daniels’ original detectives, Ellis Carver (Seth Gilliam) and Thomas “Herc” Hauk (Dominic Lombardozzi), Prez participates in an ill-conceived, late-night raid on the Barksdale drug market at the Franklin terraces. What begins as a drunken whim ignites a small riot. In a moment of brutal, unprovoked violence, Prez pistol-whips a 14-year-old boy over a minor verbal exchange, an act that ultimately costs the teenager his eye. Daniels, fully cognisant of the trio’s culpability in instigating the chaos and the severity of Prez’s assault, makes a chilling decision. Instead of upholding the law, he actively coaches Carver, Herc, and Prez on fabricating a false alibi for the Internal Investigation Division (IID), prioritising departmental protection and political expediency over accountability and justice. This scene is not merely a character moment; it’s a foundational revelation of the BPD’s moral bankruptcy, where the preservation of the institution trumps the rule of law it purports to serve.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the murder of William Gant, a potential witness against D'Angelo Barksdale, unfolds with its own set of distortions. Detective Bunk Moreland, methodical and less prone to McNulty’s obsessive leaps, harbours legitimate doubts about an immediate Barksdale connection. However, the department’s leadership, personified by the politically attuned Deputy Commissioner Ervin Burrell (Frankie Faison), actively hopes the killing is unrelated. A witness murder would jeopardise the already fragile prosecution against Barksdale in a city crippled by budget constraints – optics and fiscal pragmatism outweigh the pursuit of truth. When The Baltimore Sun publishes the story, exposing the witness killing, it triggers a crisis of trust. McNulty, ever the volatile maverick, immediately suspects Judge Phelan leaked the information, straining their relationship and highlighting how media exposure becomes another weapon in the political skirmishes that define the department’s priorities.

The episode’s masterstroke, however, lies in the psychological warfare waged against D'Angelo Barksdale (Larry Gilliard Jr.). McNulty and Bunk, leveraging their formidable skills honed in homicide, stage a very public "fishing expedition," arresting D'Angelo on flimsy charges and dragging him from the open-air drug market of The Pit. In the interrogation room, they deploy a devastatingly effective tactic: appealing to a flicker of conscience. By framing Gant as a "working man," a "civilian," and inventing a poignant backstory involving fictional children, they manipulate D'Angelo into drafting an apology letter. This moment, where D'Angelo seems genuinely shaken and potentially on the cusp of turning state’s evidence against his uncle, Avon, is the episode’s most compelling exploration of nascent morality within the machine. His abrupt removal by the slick defence attorney Maurice Levy (Michael Kostroff), and subsequent return to the Barksdale fold, underscores the immense, organised resistance the detail faces – the system protecting its own on both sides of the law.

The Detail exemplifies The Wire’s exceptional writing, allowing the plot to unfold with organic momentum through sharp, naturalistic dialogue that avoids clunky exposition. David Simon astutely constructs the portrait of police dysfunction not just through the physical squalor of the basement detail and the incompetence of its personnel, but crucially through the political calculus of its superiors. Conversations drip with concern for media narratives and budgetary optics, revealing a leadership utterly detached from the core mission of crime-fighting. Prez’s transformation from bumbling liability into a brutal assailant, pistol-whipping a minor with impunity, starkly illustrates how the system enables and protects toxic behaviour, adding fuel to the community’s justified resentment.

Surprisingly, glimmers of humanity pierce the pervasive cynicism. Bubbles (Andre Royo), despite his devastating addiction, demonstrates remarkable ingenuity in aiding Kima Greggs’ investigation, offering a fragile lifeline of cooperation. D'Angelo’s palpable distress over Gant’s death and his near-defection find a plausible catalyst in the introduction of Donette (Shamyl Brown), his girlfriend and the mother of his son. This domestic anchor makes Gant’s "fictional children" resonate, providing a crucial emotional context for his momentary moral crisis – a rare instance where the show suggests personal connection might fracture the organisation’s hold.

Simon, however, steadfastly refuses to offer comforting heroes. The nominal protagonist, Jimmy McNulty, is portrayed early on as a deeply flawed, often pathetic drunk, his brilliance obscured by self-destructive tendencies. Even Daniels, positioned as the detail’s moral compass, is fatally compromised. His pragmatic coaching of the false alibi for Prez, Carver, and Herc – an act condoning serious criminal assault and perjury with potentially catastrophic consequences for the department and the victim – is not a lapse but a chillingly rational calculation within the broken system he serves. This refusal to sanitise its protagonists is The Wire’s greatest strength and its most devastating critique.

Finally, The Detail achieved unexpected cultural resonance through the now-iconic "Chicken McNugget" scene. Originally written for Homicide: Life on the Street episode Bop Gun, it features D'Angelo, Wallace (a young Michael B. Jordan), and other Pit dealers debating whether the inventor of the Chicken McNugget became wealthy. D'Angelo, perhaps reflecting his own demotion within the Barksdale hierarchy, cynically posits the inventor remained a low-paid corporate cog. In reality, Herb Lotman, the actual innovator, became a food industry magnate. Yet, The Wire’s immense popularity has likely cemented D'Angelo’s fictionalised, pessimistic narrative as a 21st-century urban legend – a fittingly ironic footnote for an episode so concerned with the chasm between perception and reality, between the glossy myths of power and the grim, constrained truth of institutional failure. The Detail doesn’t just tell a story; it performs an autopsy on the American urban policing myth, revealing the rot long before the fantasy had even fully solidified, proving itself the essential antidote the genre desperately needed.

Synopsis

Godzilla awakens, seemingly hunting something, and attacks certain titans... Kong, in the hollow earth, desperately searches for any remaining members of his kind.

Meanwhile, Dr. Andrew struggles to educate Jia, the sole survivor of her people. But Jia is troubled by nightmares or visions, while Monarch detects signals strangely similar to the drawings made by Jia... What is happening in the hollow earth? We'll have to investigate.

Casting

We will see familiar faces from other episodes of the saga, playing roles that are rather well acted, some of them caricatures, such as the podcaster or the pilot. Dan Stevens is funny and crazy, just the way I like him.

The other roles are fairly classic: the scientist mother, the chosen one...

My opinion

A new episode in the saga of these gigantic and terrifying creatures, who have little qualms about causing damage to maintain their alpha status. However, they are intelligent and therefore capable of strategy and alliance, and we see Kong unite to defeat a common enemy. Humans, as foolish as ever, seek to destroy what they don't understand rather than to join the real fight, even though in a previous episode they seemed to have understood that this was the key to survival. Fortunately, a few humans, always the same ones, and not necessarily the most powerful or well-known, are working in the right direction.

The story confronts us with A Great Evil and offers the script original techniques to combat it, giving rise to some very well-done special effects, with a few liberties taken, but it's enjoyable to watch, and we let ourselves be carried away, knowing that in this dystopia, it's possible.

On the other hand, if we count the number of collateral victims, we quickly get a headache :)

A good piece of entertainment that will clear your head for an evening, to which I give a solid 8/10.

Synopsis

Godzilla se réveille, il semble traquer quelque chose, et s'attaque à certains titans... Kong, dans la terre creuse cherche désespérément s'il reste de ses semblables.

Pendant ce temps le Dr Andrew éduque avec difficulté Jia, seule rescapée de son peuple. Mais Jia est perturbée par des cauchemars ou des visions alors que Monarch détecte des signaux étrangement semblables aux dessins faits pas Jia... Que se passe-t-il donc dans la terre creuse ? Il va falloir enquêter.

Distribution

Nous retrouverons des têtes d'autres épisodes de la saga, pour des rôles plutôt bien joué, certains dans la caricature, comme le podcaster ou le pilote. Avec un Dan Stevens dans l'humour et le déjanté comme j'aime encore bien.

Les autres rôles sont plutôt classique : La mère scientifique, l’héroïne élue ...

Mon avis

Un nouvel épisode de la Saga que ces créatures gigantesques et terribles, qui n'ont guère de scrupules à faire des dégâts pour garder leur statut d'Alpha. Intelligents cependant et donc capables de stratégie, et d'alliance, on verra Kong unir pour défaire un ennemi commun. Les humains toujours aussi idiots cherchent à détruire ce qu'ils ne comprennent toujours pas plutôt qu'à rejoindre la lutte, alors que dans un épisode précédent ils avaient l'air d'avoir compris que c'était la clef de la survie. Heureusement quelques humains, toujours les mêmes, et pas forcément les plus puissants ou connus, œuvrent dans le bon sens.

L'histoire nous met ici face au Grand mal, et offre au scénario des techniques originales pour le combattre, donnant lieu a des effets spéciaux fort bien réalisés, avec cependant quelques libertés, mais c'est plaisant à regarder, on se laisse porter sachant que dans cette dystopie, c'est possible.

Par contre si on compte le nombre de victimes collatérales, on a vite mal de tête :)

Un bon divertissement qui vous vider ala tête le temps d'une soirée, au quel je laisse un bon 8/10.

The title “Back in Action” was a no-brainer because a movie with that title just points in the direction of someone who goes back into the field after going off the radar for a while. For this reason, I decided to delay my watching of the movie for as long as I could. I already knew I was going to see it eventually, but I just didn't know when. The time actually came sooner than expected and I'm here to share my thoughts on the movie eight months after its official release.

About The Movie

The movie “Back in Action” starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, is a light-hearted action comedy about a former spy couple who come out of retirement to protect their family and deal with threats linked to a digital weapon that went missing during their last mission.Set after they have settled into suburban life with their children, the film mixes domestic family challenges with action sequences and comedic moments. The big question is; would the couple be able to protect their children from the life they've kept away from them for so many years?

This action comedy film was released on the 17th of January. Directed by Seth Gordon. The film has a runtime of 114 minutes.

My Opinion

This was a fun and silly yet entertaining film although the plot wasn't original. One could tell the end from the beginning but the action sequences and the timely screen appearances of the lead actors made the movie worth watching.

The chemistry between the two lead actors Diaz(as Emily) and Foxx(as Matt) was undeniable. One would think they were an actual couple in reality.Their playful banters and charismatic performances stood out. Also, after spending ten years away from the acting world, Cameron Diaz acted pretty well each time she came on the screen. And that is a big flex.

The action sequences were well choreographed with the fights being fast paced and exciting to watch. The fight between the couple and a group of paid gunmen at a fueling station was one of my favourites. This was the point of the big reveal. Emily and Matt had to fight the bad guys that had surrounded them and for the first time, their children saw them in full swing. This of course led to a truckload of questions and I must say, I like how well the parents handled the situation.

Then there was my favorite character; Glenn Close as Ginny. Ginny was Emily's British estranged mother who was an embodiment of a vicious lady. She didn't appear in many scenes but whenever she did appear, she was mostly the hero of that moment. Ginny was a liberal and very wise character that brought a tinge of excitement to every single scene.

Some of the themes portrayed in this film include family and parenthood, responsibility, love, redemption, teamwork and partnership and identity amongst others. The film portrayed how hard parenting kids, especially teenagers, can be. However, the film went a notch higher to show the best possible ways to always handle certain situations involving teenagers. It was quite insightful.

The ending was action-packed and quite satisfying but this somehow tipped off the viewers about a possible sequel because a villain was still lurking around somewhere, somehow.

Recommendation and Rating

Back in Action is an enjoyable movie perfect for casual movie nights or just for passing time. It may not be a very memorable movie seeing that the plot isn't an original or mind blowing one but the movie is certainly a light-hearted and fun watch. I would give it a 7 out of 10 rating. This movie is recommended for those who like the action comedy genre or those just looking to have an amusing, lightweight experience rather than a complex story.

One of Them Days with Keke Palmer and SZA just dropped some time ago and Im not much into comedy so decided to watch with my wife and honestly I wasn't expecting much from another buddy comedy about broke people scrambling for rent money but this movie actually surprised me in the best way possible. The whole setup is pretty straightforward, Drew played by Keke Palmer and Alyssa played by SZA are roommates living paycheck to paycheck when Alyssa's trifling boyfriend takes their rent money and disappears with it, leaving them exactly nine hours to come up with fifteen hundred dollars or get evicted by their landlord who clearly means business since we see another tenant already getting thrown out on the street. What makes this work so well is the chemistry between Palmer and SZA, they really feel like two friends who genuinely care about each other even when they're making questionable decisions left and right, plus the movie takes place in Los Angeles which gives us some great scenery of neighborhoods that don't usually get the spotlight in mainstream cinema. The supporting cast is solid too with appearances from Katt Williams as this street wise guy named Lucky who hangs around the payday loan office warning people about the dangers of high interest loans, Maude Apatow as the new gentrifying neighbor who actually ends up helping them out, and even Lil Rel Howery shows up to buy some stolen Jordans which adds another layer of chaos to their already hectic day.

I would have to say that the first half is the best part of the movie when the comedy feels natural and the situations escalate organically, Drew has this job interview at four in the afternoon for a franchise manager position at Norms which adds extra pressure since she's trying to better herself while dealing with all this craziness. Meanwhile Alyssa is more of the free spirit artist type who believes everything will work out through good vibes and positive energy, which obviously drives the more practical Drew up the wall when they're facing homelessness in a matter of hours. Their desperate attempts to raise money lead them through various LA locations including a blood bank where Janelle James has a cameo as a first day phlebotomist who accidentally lets Drew give way too much blood, resulting in some pretty funny physical comedy as she stumbles around in this ridiculous outfit they gave her from the donation clothes pile. The movie does does great at showing how drastically money can affects communities through the character of Bethany played by Maude Apatow, when she moves into their building all the longtime residents literally stop what they're doing to stare at her like she's some kind of exotic animal and you can feel the tension of a neighborhood in transition.

Where things get really interesting is when they find some expensive Jordans hanging from power lines and decide to take them down and sell them, not realizing these shoes belong to the local intimidating guy everyone calls King Lolo who definitely doesn't appreciate people messing with his property. This leads to probably the most tense parts of the movie as they now owe him even more money on top of their rent situation, and the actor playing King Lolo brings a genuinely menacing presence that makes you believe these women are in real danger. The whole sequence where SZA climbs the electrical pole to get the shoes is both hilarious and terrifying, especially when she gets electrocuted like a cartoon character but somehow survives, which gives you an idea of how the movie balances realism with more outrageous comedy elements. Bernice, played by newcomer Aiza Scott, becomes another highlight when they track down Alyssa's cheating boyfriend to her house, she's got this larger than life personality and when she chases them down the street after they disturb her afternoon, the way she runs like a track star while completely focused on revenge had me cracking up in the theater.

It more like towards the third part of the movie, very close to thee ending is where the movie had its most ups and downs, dont want to exaggerate neither, its a bit as it tries to wrap everything up with coincidences and conveniences that feel a little too neat or I would say too rushed, like when Bethany suddenly becomes the solution to their art selling scheme or when the job interviewer shows up at their imprompt gallery opening. I have to admin that the movie does earn a lot of credit on the emotion side of the story and how the actors perform those parts, particularly Palmer who becomes the one who is both the responsible friend trying to keep everything together and the awkward woman who can barely form sentences around the cute firefighter she has a crush on. SZA holds her own as an actress even though this is basically her film debut, she brings a natural quality to Alyssa that makes her feel like a real person rather than just the "irresponsible friend" stereotype, and when the two friends have their inevitable falling out you actually care about whether they'll work things out. The movie also does nice work with its LA locations, from the Norms diner on La Cienega to various neighborhood spots that give the film an authentic feel for people who actually live in these areas rather than just visiting for Instagram photos.

One of Them Days isn't going to change cinema forever but it succeeds as exactly what it sets out to be, a funny hangout movie about friendship that happens to have something to say about economic anxiety and neighborhood change without being preachy about it. The direction by Lawrence Lamont keeps things moving at a good pace even when the plot gets a little contrived, and the script finds ways to give the supporting characters actual personalities rather than just making them plot devices. Palmer and SZA carry the movie with their easy rapport and comic timing, they feel like real friends who've been living together long enough to know exactly how to push each other's buttons, and even when they're making terrible decisions you're rooting for them to figure things out. The movie clocks in at about an hour and forty minutes which feels just right for this kind of story, it doesn't overstay its welcome or try to be more important than it needs to be, it just wants to make you laugh and maybe think a little about what it's like to live one financial emergency away from disaster. If you're looking for something light and entertaining that also happens to showcase some great chemistry between two performers who clearly enjoyed working together, One of Them Days delivers exactly what you'd hope for from a Saturday night comedy, nothing crazy and its hard for me to score comedy although this one is not one that I would constantly be looking for when I want to watch some comedy, feels like we just had to.
