Last night I finally watch The Fantastic Four First Steps, after going through all the buzz around this movie I gotta say Marvel might have actually pulled off something decent but for me is just not enough, too many details that throw me off. This is attempt number four at bringing these characters to the big screen and while the last few tries were complete disasters this one actually feels like somebody gave a damn about making it work, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards sounds crazy on paper but the dude really delivers even if they barely let him stretch throughout the entire movie which was honestly pretty disappointing, besides making things just too obvious when it comes to science, aside from saying "whats the difference between and egg and Earth" TF you saying??. The whole retro 1960s vibe they went with on Earth 828 works way better than expected, it feels high quality and not trashy different from all the generic MCU stuff we been getting bombarded with lately, plus having the Fantastic Four be the only superheroes in their world makes everything feel more focused instead of the usual cluster of characters everywhere trying to get screen time. The strongest part of the movie for me was how they handled the family aspect between all four characters, it feels like they do care for each other without it feeling forced or fake like most other superhero team movies tend to do, very similar to what we saw on Thunderbolts so drama I think was a strong leg for this movie, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm was a very very solid performance overall since he nailed that cocky but charming personality without being completely annoying about it which is harder to pull off than you might think, also how is not like super intelligent as Richard but the dude try and work out.

The biggest surprise was definitely how they brought Galactus to life on screen, finally we get a proper version of this cosmic threat instead of that cloud garbage from 2007 that nobody talks about anymore because it was so fucking terrible. This version actually looks like the massive world eating entity he should be with incredible scale and design work that makes you feel the size of this cosmic level threat, the only problem I have with this character is how easy they got rid of him, I remember the Fantastic 4 animated series didnt have the most insane villains but Galactus should be at Thanos level on their universe so getting rid of him with a push, idk sounds like too little and low effort. The Silver Surfer being a woman works surprisingly well too, Julia Garner brings this serious herald energy to the character that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time, her whole "I herald his beginning, I herald your end" delivery was absolutely perfect for what they were going for, the Silver Surfer was by far my favorite character specially during the fight scene when they go to Gargantua, yeah Nolan stuff embeded on my brain, they way she literally surf on space was fkn awesome. The movie does a good job of making Galactus feel like this ancient cosmic force rather than just another generic villain, you get the sense that this being has witnessed universes live and die and now its just doing what it needs to survive even if that means destroying entire worlds in the process, but specially how he feels tired of this life and just want to pass the curse into someone else. The Thing looks great throughout the entire movie and you can feel there is a human beneath all that orange rock, the only problem I have with him is the voice, usually its a more intimidating and deep voice but the character does captures both the frustration of being stuck in a rock body and the determination to make the best of his situation an aspect that is a such a classic, you really feel for this guy when his fiance breaks up with him on the street and leaves the engagement ring on the ground because she cant handle what he has become. Sue Storm being pregnant eeee I was not too sure about it becuase it might be use to push certain girl power and sht message but they manage to not make it look like that and bring the family even closer, Vanessa Kirby does great work showing a woman who is tired and dealing with all this cosmic level bullshit while trying to protect her unborn child from forces beyond comprehension, her force field powers get some really creative uses throughout the movie including this scene where she makes her belly translucent so they can see the baby which is sweet but kinda creepy too, so how does she decide just to show the baby without anything else.
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/yp7u9fpp)
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/yp7u9fpp)The pacing was really nice, nothing during the movie feels rushed or dragged out, they get the origin stuff out of the way quickly in the opening scenes by recreating how the entire transformation happen along with some other scenes before Sue gets pregnant so it was nice they didnt have to mansplein things all over again like nobody knew the characters, Paul Walter Hauser shows up as Mole Man which was apparently not a joke when he mentioned being in the movie during interviews, he doest get some screen time and making him a friend of the Fantastic Four also felt like not every villain on the movie is a bad person. On the movie The Fantastic Four family is love by everyone because they care, participate and solve others people problems world wide, they are seen as leaders but then Galactus ask for Sue baby and she says NO, things get very complicated and I though this would be a bigger deal during the movie, probably getting world leaders against them but they never did and drop the topic very quick, this sets up an interesting contrast for when they eventually cross over into the main MCU universe where superheroes are treated with suspicion and sometimes outright hostility by the common people. The entire visuals of the movie looks very high quality, from everything they use or wear, the suites I thought I wouldnt like but they do look good specially their space suits, the car and all the tech looks very well design, the only thing I didnt like much is how giant screens literally look like CRT monitors, same for the bubble design monitors they have at their HQ with this optimistic retro future vibe that makes you wish more superhero movies would take chances with their visual design instead of everything looking like generic modern day settings.
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/yp7u9fpp)
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/yp7u9fpp)Even though they fight together against Galactus I feel like they didnt properly show off their powers, the biggest exmple been Reed Richards, this is the least stretchy version we have ever seen on screen and Pedro Pascal does nails the brilliant scientist aspect of the character, even when some things are just too obvious and others completely exaggerated like the transportation of Earth, it feels like a missed opportunity to not have more fun with his abilities. I wish the could have explain more the science stuff behind their plan like they have tried on previous movies, but when your main power is being able to stretch your body into any shape imaginable you should probably use that more than just extending your arm to reach something across the room. Johnny Storm gets plenty of chances to fly around and throw fire which looks great and my only problem with him is how his regular clothe didnt got burn but over all is a very solid character special when you compare him to previous movies how they all failed, Sue Storm has some creative invisibility and force field moments, Ben Grimm is obviously just a walking tank who punches things real hard, but Reed lack action in the powers department even though Pascal brings great parental conflict energy to the role, between whats necessary and what he wants, the decision making aspect that Sue hates so much as he always thinks about what could go wrong but its his job too.

The final battery arrive and honestly it took me by surprise, I try not to watch the timeline on the screen to avoid spoiling things for me, very quick they have to figure out how to deal with Galactus wanting to take Franklin Richards who apparently has these reality altering powers that could replace Galactus as this cosmic force of nature, the whole teleport the Earth to another galaxy solution is exactly the kind of big science fiction concept that feels right for these characters and I do feel like taking Galactus from his ship was a great plan, personally I didnt know how he harvest and accumulate his energy, they do go into details and thats something the audience screams when it comes to super hero movies. Sue Storm gets this great speech about not giving up her child for the world but also not giving up the world for her child which captures the impossible choice they are facing, the fact that they get the entire planet to work together on this plan shows how different Earth 828 is from the world we live in where nobody can agree on anything, makes me think Earth would become hell and there would be riots from both sides if it comes to something like that in the world we live in. The post credits scene with little Franklin talking to someone in a Doctor Doom mask sets up obvious future storylines but for some reasons the version of the movie I watch didnt show the Fantastic Four ship arriving in the main MCU timeline so I have to look it up online, whenever I wait for movies to touch the internet I avoid all kind of spoilers on Youtube although its very hard, overall this feels like a solid 7/10 that actually makes me want to see more of these characters but not because I think this is one of the best MCU movies, so far Thunderbolts (2025) is the best one for this year, I want to see more of the characters to give them a second chance to expand and provide more details about them.

I know Im going to say its all green grass from here but seeing Peacemaker finally confront the truth about his relationship with Harcourt that did the trick for him to decide moving into a universe where he can be happy with Harcourt but Leota did try to explain him thats not going to solve anything, its a big risk because the poor guy walked into that trap knowing it was a setup just to find out if she had any feelings for him and watching her tell him straight up that there is zero chance for them was brutal to watch aside from knock him out. The whole toxic relationship between this too has been building up all season and you could see his heart break when she said Rick Flag Junior was her only friend and how could she possibly be with the guy who killed him, which makes total sense from her perspective but still hits hard. Then we get this crazy reveal that Sasha Bordeaux is a cyborg with these glowing mechanical parts in her eye and the way they show her targeting system was like something straight out of Terminator so it felt over the top and ridiculous but thats one of the targets of this series so dont take it wrong, although it does add more complexity to her character that I wasnt expecting at all so what could she be able to do in the future with this skills, Im not a comic guy but this is exactly what comics do, let free your imagination. The way Harcourt tackles Peacemaker to save his life from Sashas kill shot shows that despite everything she says, she still cares about him deep down at least as a friend, I feel its more than a friend but she is putting her career first, even if she cant admit it to herself or to him.

The absolute best part of this entire episode was Eagly going full super eagle mode and revealing himself as the PRIME EAGLE!!!, because up until now we thought it was just a running gag about his pet being special but turns out the little guy has legitimate superpowers, he can even gang on the Mf Snt Wild, when he tries to poison Eagly with that rat and then pulls out this massive punt gun to shoot him down, I really thought they were gonna kill off the bird just to mess with Peacemaker, they have him after all so why kill Eagly??, but instead we get this incredible scene where Eagly commands a whole flock of eagles to tear the guy apart. The way they show Eaglys eyes glowing purple and him manifesting that blue fire while the other eagles swarm Red Saint Wild was awesome, like this cute little pet bird just turned into this Alpha Eagle. It would be interesting if during other series he start getting into missions or even show up on some movies because it been all CGI they can go nuts with Eagly and dont need much of an actor or at least some animatronics, idk its just me running my imagination wild again, which makes me wonder what other abilities he has hidden and how this ties into the bigger DCU mythology.

The ending sequence where Peacemaker decides to leave for the alternate universe permanently I saw it coming from a mile away because I expected him to go back and forth a few more times before making that choice, but after Harcourt shuts him down completely that was my confirmation, he just packs up and leaves them a goodbye note, he aleready knows what is on the other side, his brother, father, a Harcourt version that loves him but he was the piece of sht who cheat on her and stuff, well the Peacemaker that Chris killed. Watching Adebayo read that letter while Peacemaker is already flying around with jetpacks fighting kaiju alongside his dad and brother was very cool because this is exactly what I have been asking for years for movies to connect with TV series and go back and forward but idk why it took so long for this to happen, its like the 2020s is when all those ideas finally got green light, idk if it was COVID or what that made big companies realize how much content they were just not producing and yes this kind of connection will fuck up LORE that already exist. Vigilante crying because Peacemaker basically ditched him without even saying goodbye properly that felt sad because the guy really care for him so this also shows how selfish Chris is too but its just human nature been like that, some more than others, specially with heated head. The fact that the kaiju they fight is the exact same one from the Superman movie but in this alternate dimension the Top Trio defeats it instead of Superman and the Justice Gang had me thiking how all this going to play out but then Judomaster follows him through the portal at the last second, which is gonna be interesting because if Im not mistaken it was mention this alternate dimension seems to have only white people in it, so an Asian guy showing up is probably gonna cause some problems.

The plant creature finaly showing its true colors and basically digesting one of those military guys was gross but awesome, like we been waiting all season to see what that thing actually does besides sitting there looking like some weird vegetation and when it opened up those wing like and wrapped around that poor bastard it was satisfying, I was amazed last night how my wife cant watch horror movies but did enjoy Alien Earth, she was all 7 episodes behind and catch up in 2 days so we watch episode 8 together. Another character that really satisfied that need of violence was Nibs, going full Xenomorph mode and riping through people has been building up for episodes and it paid off perfectly here, the way she moved and attacked felt more animal than human which makes perfect sense considering what shes become, its like watching someone embrace their monster side completely without any hesitation or remorse, the series managed to make the hybrids the good guys without it feeling forced, like these kids have ben through hell, died, got brought back as AI copies or whatever they actually are because at this point not even Wendy knows who she is or what she is and she is way smarter than any of us, and still managed to keep more humanity than the actual humans around them who lost theirs completely along the way.

The episode does such a good job building up tension through the whole episode but the truth is that it lack that punch at the end, you can feel something big coming but you dont know exactly what its gonna be until everything starts falling apart for the corporate side, when Boy Kavalier finaly gets slightly beat up its so satisfying because this guy has ben manipulating and hurting these kids all season long. The background story about him killing his father when he was six years old using a synth he built himself was dark but honestly felt a bit exaggerated, at six years build a synth? tf?!, plus the reveal that Adam was probably that first synth was shocking and makes everything even more complicated, only trying to imagine how that hole situation of him growing up alone, idk it just doesnt make much sense. Wendys once again show off her power of controlling technology but it feels like she is limited some how, not sure if its because of her imagination because she is basically the same as Lucy on the movie, how she was able to control the network and anything in it, the way she could manipulate the elevators and camera systems and everything else showed just how powerfull she realy is.

The fight between Morrow and Kirsch was exactly what I wanted to see but it was too damn short, there were things on the episode that happen but needed more screen time, 9 episode was needed so bad, but still watching a cyborg go up against a full synth in hand to hand combat while they told that John Henry story about man versus machine was perfect, even though it didnt last as long as I hoped it was still brutal and showed the difference between someone who still has human parts versus someone who feels no pain at all. Hermit does get some revenge some revenge by the hand of Wendy, after everything hes ben through this season, losing his lung to help create Wendys Xenomorph, yup its hers, dealing with all the betrayals and double crosses, the guy deserved some justice too even though he was not always impartial, during an argument with Wendy it amaze me how she told him "thats what powerless people respond and Im not powerless" that was like damn she is going full super saiyan. The hole lab sequence where we finally see what happens when the specimens escape was chaos in the best possible way, watching that plant creature reveal its true nature while Eyeball Creature made its move with Arthurs body was like the perfect storm of everything going wrong for Prodigy at the same time, Neverland turn into the Zoo and all aliens are running wild now, very Jurassic Park like.

In Chief of War the fact that most of the dialogue is in Hawaiian with subtitles makes everything feel more authentic and immersive, the intial episodes are full Hawaiian for the most part but then they start mixing it up with english and I think that was intentional to capture the audience, your not listening to actors pretending to be Hawaiian while speaking perfect English the whole time which would have been terrible. Jason Momoa being part of the production team really shows because you can tell this wasnt just another paycheck for him, this was personal and it comes through in every scene hes in and every decision they made about the story. The series goes deep into brotherhood and family, true loyalty, seeing Kaiana and his brothers embrace and show affection without all the toxic masculinity bullshit we usually get in war shows was fkn awesome to watch and felt very natural. Tonys story as a former slave who gets accepted and brotherhood with Kaiana people added this whole layer about found family and belonging that made his character way more than just the sidekick they could have easily made him. The political drama between different kingdoms and chiefs felt complex as it should but never over the top, reasons and motives were easy to understand if you pay attention, you could follow who was allied with who and why they were making certain decisions without needing a damn flowchart to keep track of everything.

The season finale was something else but the thing is now there is a second season from what i can tell, IMDB still says "Mini Series" but wtf now with King Kahekili, cant leave him hanging, but holy shit that ending sequence for season one changed everything I thought I knew about where this story was heading and what would happen next. Watching Kaiana almost die in that lava flow while fighting Keoua felt like destiny fucking him up because at fist look like he was going to end up taking the worst part, when Kahumanu was screaming his name I felt that panic because he was really gonna die and a bigger WTF moment was when she went back to Kamehameha and he was like ok you got something for him now we all know it, but then when he survived and everyone was cheering for him instead of Kamehameha you could see that jealousy and resentment starting to build, he just let it slide because he is the king although Kaiana is the leader, which sets up what obviously gonna be a huge conflict in season two if we get one. Kupuhi getting injured and Namake saving her while dealing with his own guilt about loving his brothers wife added this emotional complexity even after confronting Kaiana before going to war, they didnt need any dragons or magic for it to feel more epic than most fantasy shows, just people fighting with everything they had for their families and their future which is way more powerful than any supernatural element, well they had a fkn volcano going off too. The cinematography during those volcanic eruption scenes was absolutely stunning although the lighting at the end was not the best but still almost like you could feel the heat coming off the screen and the chaos of trying to fight while the ground is literally melting beneath you and threatening to swallow everyone whole.

John Economos was definitely the best part of this whole episode, no question about it, the guy is loyal to the core, watching him try to send Chris that gibberish warning text while sitting in the back of that van was kinda funny while they were throwing sht at each other and then him saving Eagley from that psycho Wild was perfect, the Supreme Eagle that would like bs ends up been real. The guy is proving to be a real friend while Harcourt is out here making deals with Rick Flag Senior behind Chris back, which honestly hurt to watch and I wouldnt blame Chris for wanting to go life in another dimension where he get some love back. Steve Agee just brings this genuine warmth to Economos that makes you root for him even when he's being weird, and his whole backstory about hacking the CIA at 14 explains why he's so socially awkward. The dude never had a normal childhood, got recruited straight into spy work as a kid, so of course he's going to be messed up. When he spits right in Flurry's face after all that arguing in the van, I was cheering, because Flurry had it coming after being such a dick this whole time.

Speaking of St. Wild, this dude has completely lost his mind over Eagley and now apparently he has some kind of powers too, what the fuck is that about, where does this powers come from, is he like a Shaman or something? if superhero theme series were already fantasy this is way crazy so you just have to let it flow and dont think too hard about it. Michael Rooker is having way too much fun with this character, doing that whole cultural appropriation thing where he is mixing up different Native American traditions to justify his eagle obsession but then the show goes and validates his crazy ass by giving him actual mystical abilities. The whole astral projection thing at the end was wild, drawing that eagle symbol with his own blood and then being able to track Eagley's location through some spiritual third eye bullshit, reminds me an animated series from the 90s with a Native Sherif who had similar powers but cant remember its name. It's funny but also kind of problematic that the show is saying his appropriation actually works, though I guess they're setting it up so it backfires on him later, at least I hope so.

The hole time they went after Chris and Eagly, from the moment they go into Chris house that made the entire episode and even the entire ARGUS team look more as a unit and way more hilarious too, this was really satisfying because normally you dont have both on the same scene, how they all keep this awkward but funny conversation on the way to Chris house between Bordeaux, Fleury and Economos calling themself names, even Judomaster was funny and less annoying, I honestly hat that character every time comes to screen but didnt this time. Taking about Judomaster I just love the way Chris crush him while they were running after him, that scene where they go rolling down that hill and landing on top of him was pretty funny though, classic Chris using his bulk as a weapon.

Hastings walking away from the mission was probably the smartest thing anyone did in this entire season, that dude saw the writing on the wall and tried to get Edwards to come with him before everything went to hell. The whole conversation between them on the boat was some emotional drama because you can see Hastings knows this is all wrong but Edwards is too stubborn to listen, he is so caught up in the action and the adrenaline that he cannot see how badly they are being manipulated by everyone around them. When Hastings tells him that some men go to war to fight the enemy but others seek war to fight themselves, that line hit hard because it shows how well he understands Edwards and what drives him, even if Edwards refuses to acknowledge it. The fact that Hastings still shows up to provide sniper cover during the exchange proves he might have walked away but he was not going to let his friends die, even though they made the wrong choice. Landry being included in the mission despite getting caught sexually harassing Varon was weird as hell, like Edwards just brushes that off because "patriotism erases every flaw" which is such bullshit and shows how screwed up his priorities have become at this point in the story.
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/mvv8ztu8)
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/mvv8ztu8)
Varon refusing to follow orders and doing her own investigation was the only reason they figured out what was really going on, if she had just waited for extraction like her handler wanted then Edwards and his team would have delivered those bearings and never known they had been played. Her tracking down Haverford and getting those surveillance photos of him with Cyrus came in on time right at the edge, without that evidence they would have been completely in the dark about who the real Shepherd was and how deep the betrayal went, I would like to mention that I get how part of the audience can get trigger by some of this hacking stunts because they have no context they just happen, off the sudden pictures land in Edwards chat just in time. The whole scene where she is hacking into that laptop while her handler keeps telling her to drop it and come home shows how little trust there is between different agencies, even when they are supposed to be working together on the same mission. It makes you wonder if her handler was also compromised or just following orders from people who did not want the truth to come out, either way it shows how isolated these field operatives really are when push comes to shove. The fact that she ends up joining Edwards team at the end suggests she knows they are the only ones who can be trusted at this point, even though they are all wanted fugitives now.
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/mvv8ztu8)
[Source](https://tinyurl.com/mvv8ztu8)
The exchange scene at the airfield was intense as hell even though you knew something was going to go wrong, watching Edwards, Landry and Farooq walk into that hangar knowing they were outnumbered ten to three was exciting. The Iranians testing the bearings with that centrifuge thing was smart, it shows they were not just going to take anyones word that the bearings were real, they had the equipment to verify it themselves, I was not expecting that since for the most part nobody verified sht before, not even Farooq when he bought the first set. When the bearings passed the test and everyone realized they were authentic, you could see the panic on Edwards face because he knew they had just helped Iran get one step closer to building nuclear weapons, the exact opposite of what they thought they were doing. Yousef making that comment about Edwards should have asked for more money to betray his country was such a gut punch because it showed how the Iranians saw this whole transaction, they thought Edwards was just a mercenary selling out his own people for cash. The fact that Edwards let that slide instead of shooting the guy right there shows how much self control he still had, even though that was about to change real quick when they got Varon's photos.

Wendy commanding the Xenomorph felt so so unpredictable like it could snap at any moment and attack them, the way she just chitters at it and the creature immediately responds by slamming its head against the glass was incredible but also really unsettling because you realize she isnt just communicating with these things anymore, shes actually controlling them like some kind of Alien queen, she even think she finally understanding and talking back to them, the moment she says its kinda hard to find the right words. Her whole relationship with Joe started falling apart this episode too which was really sad to watch because their sibling bond has been one of the strongest emotional ties during the series but never felt rock solid almost like she felt ok with it once he was next to her, but I can understand why hes getting scared of what she is becoming especially after she unleashed that Xenomorph on all those scientists and guards. The graveyard scene where they found their own graves was probably the most philosophical moment the show so far because thats something Joe has been trying to push for the kids to remember who they were and their names, seeing Joe break down at Marcs tombstone while Wendy insists that Marcy is still alive inside her synthetic body was a strong moment and really made you think about what it means to be human or alive in the first place. Nibs reaction to seeing her own grave and realizing shes not really the same person anymore was equally confusing and very sad like she felt lost, that poor kid has been losing pieces of herself ever since her memory wipe and now she knows for sure that the real Rose Ellis is dead and buried in the ground, I thought Wendy could do something about her memory using her special powers like data dump into Nibs "mind".

Boy Kavalier continues to be the most frustrating character on the entire show because he just keeps making terrible decisions that put everyone in danger while acting like hes some kind of genius although he is use to take huge risks when making break throughs but this time it seems like he is not meassuring well who is dealing with, both the T Ocelus and the Xenomorph could easily take them down in a sec , so watching him get completely fascinated by the eyeball creature while his entire facility is falling apart around him was the perfect fit for his character, its always like each incident on the lab means nothing for him as he learns more about this Aliens despite the cost. The way he wants to put that thing inside a human host just so he can have a conversation with something smarter than himself shows how selfish and shortsighted he really is, hes willing to sacrifice other peoples lives just to satisfy his own curiosity and need for intellectual stimulation. Kirsh helping Slightly and Smee escape with Arthur body was hilarious af because it confirmed that hes been playing his own game this whole time, Timothy Olyphant has been brilliant during the entire season, Kirsh not just following orders from Boy Kavalier or being a loyal synthetic, hes actively manipulating events to achieve his own goals whatever those might be, because its not so clear what he wants, he might even be an infiltrated or just want to be free?. He was basically using the kids as bait to trap Morrow and capture another Xenomorph was clever but also really cold and calculating, it shows that even the characters we thought we could trust are ultimately just using everyone else as chess pieces in their larger schemes.
