Starve Acre was a movie that got me intrigue for some time not only because the trio that is on this movie with Matt Smith, Morfydd Clark and Erin Richard, so talk about a solid cast but also by its very very low rating from audience online. After watching the movie I'm not disappointed since I had an idea of it not been so great but that's like cheating, when this kind of situation happen I always put myself in a position of how would I feel if I had pay to watch this movie, probably a partial refund or compensation would make me fell better although watching at home made me feel ok about it.

The movie is a British folk horror that will make you process a lot after its done because its a bit confusing to be hones, you have to put aside the noise and focus on how to put together so then you can be amaze at the end or get that "GOT IT!!" moment when the movie ends. A supernatural folklore tale in the Yorkshire countryside during the 1970s, the movie pays a lot of attention to details from building, custom, cars, the entire environment looks just perfect. Richard and Juliette Willoughby are going through tough times after losing their young son; Ewan, and each parent deals with this loss in their own way. The movie tries to mix psychological horror with folk elements, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, making it a bit hard to follow what's really going on.
Richard spends his time digging up a field looking for some old oak tree root that at first he thought it was a fantasy until latter on figure out had a very dark secret that tormented since his childhood, while Juliette is stuck in this cycle of grief that's making her believe their son might come back. There's this whole thing about an ancient oak tree that used to be in their field and at first Richard only finds this weird rabbit skeleton that starts causing all sorts of strange act of supernatural tricks only while on their property. The movie gets really interesting when we see how differently Richard and Juliette handle their loss, he tries to be all scientific about it until it was either his son last request to find the roots or because he start thinking only a miracle or supernatural even can bring him back that's why I think started to look for this oak roots, while Juliette goes deep into this short term spiritual trip.

Even though the movie is not ground braking or something you are going to watch more than twice I think Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark really did a great job at this movie. Smith plays Richard and he does this great job showing a dad who is trying to keep it together while everything falls apart, from this career to his marriage right after loosing his son, he even blame directly his wife for it out of frustration but not because he really believe it, Matt got this way of looking both strong and completely lost at the same time, which really fits the character. Clark as Juliette is just amazing too, she makes you feel every bit of her pain and hope, even when she is doing things that seem crazy, she was really in the middle state. The way these two actors play off each other really shows how grief can pull people apart, it even made me though and look up online how much couples split after loosing a son, apparently the percentage is not too high but this post is not about that, funny enough the fkn rabbit Richard finds it what got them together.
The movie does left questions unanswered, the thing about Starve Acre is that it really tries to do something different with the horror genre and that something to be appreciate but I know there are many who might think the movie did work out. The way it shows grief through both realistic and supernatural ping of view is pretty clever, but still feels like there is something missing, I was expecting more horror, if they could elaborate more on Richard's childhood. The atmosphere is spot on with the Yorkshire setting, the 1970s period details and the creepy vibes from that rabbit skeleton all work together to create this unsettling mood. What doesn't work so well is how the movie sometimes loses focus, jumping between the intellectual stuff by Richard, the family drama and the supernatural elements without really putting the pieces together, even the crazy women who said to be some sort of psychic to help Juliette focus.

The ending ties everything pretty well and get rids of everything else that is not supernatural related as it was expected but this might leave a good part of the audience confuse since the middle of the movie did a good job at bringing up certain situations that add nothing to the ending so there is the confusion created. The whole thing with the rabbit skeleton Richard found earlier plays a big part in this supernatural twist, as it seems to be connected to the ancient spirit known as the Hardaker, there was a point that I really though they would bring their dead son to where the oak roots where, probably trying to have him resuscitate for some reason, the rabbit did.
The ending and a book Richard found from his dad prove that it was not just a tale, the whole thing was real just that for some reason only Richard though about excavating looking for the damn roots, the book he found was a complete tutorial to summon this evil spirit that some how gave them purpose specially Juliette, feels like the Rabbit replace her son and this made Richard feel calm about his wife not descending into darkness anymore but to embrace darkness as part of them. It's one of those endings that doesn't give you clear answers but instead leaves you thinking about what happens next to this couple who were so desperate to have their son back that they might have brought something much worse into their lives.
I was not expecting this movie to stick with me, not one I'm going to add to my collection but I was entertained through out the entire movie, the expectation and the waiting for something drastic to happen but it was more like a slow dragging moment. It was creepy enough for my taste, I wish they could have develop more the kid situation, when they buried him and really watch Juliette suffering flourish instead of straight going to bed and close curtains straight away. Matt was awesome at the end, having this fuck it attitude like I don't care what this is as long as my wife is happy with it, the movie gives a good view of how far we can go under sad and stressful situations. I gave it a 7/10 enough for it to be a good one time watch but I guess is a very niche movie that you probably need to watch when ever you are looking for a horror movie that will let you sleep at night and at the same time keep you wondering whats next.
I had the chance to sit down and watch the latest Wolf Man (2025) directed by Leigh Whannell on the classic monster that this time is a bit different rather than been just a predator or a curse on a regular man, this time the move involves a lot into family dynamics and personal demons, I think this is one of the reasons for such low scores online for a movie that in my opinion was good enough for a one time watch. This is one of those type of horror movies that are mark, its like making a Jason movie and have him care for his victims, one thing doesn't go with another, it just the same here, eventually werewolf before they transform does care for someone but this movie takes the drama a bit further.

The story develops around young Blake and his military style father on a hunting trip gone wrong in the Oregon woods in the 1990s, where they are face to face with something not quite human, then press the fast forward button; yes time jumps, 30 years and we meet adult Blake, played by Christopher Abbott, living in New York with his wife Charlotte, played by Julia Garner and their daughter Ginger. Blake is a struggling writer living at home and his wife takes her career in journalism. Blake's father has been missing for quite some time but news arrive that he has died and Blakes decides to take his family to his childhood home at Oregon to collect his father's stuff and try to spend some quality time with his wife and daughter.
This is an isolated house that becomes a nightmare for the entire family, a bit cliche too, chaos takes over real quick when a creature attack their car on the road, getting them to crash their truck in the woods and having Blake hurt by what look like another Wolf Man, by slashing his arm is what starts Blake's transformation but the nightmare situation kicks in hard when their guide also gets dragged away by the beast and gets killed. The entire movie happens in a single night making it a bit too long for a single night scene sequence, so it didn't take long for Black starting to feel the effects like it was a deadly sickness instead of a curse as I mention before.
SourceChristopher Abbott does deliver a good amount of intensity to Blake in the early scenes that works very well in my opinion, a man trying to get closer to his family as a husband and father while dealing with childhood trauma, going back to a place that might not be on his favorite list, but it is his performance during the transformation sequences that is the MVP of the movie, being able to not just physically but emotionally suffer through the entire process, that is always a key factor on dramatic scenes of werewolf transformation, the actor has to transmit how painful it is to having your body change and expand so drastically, but this time is a bit different too because he still keeps a man appearance. His performance in my opinion also takes out from Julia Garner's character Charlotte; Blake’s wife, the reason for this is that traditionally the werewolf / wolf man does have a woman he is attach too in a romantic way but she is more of a Diva in my opinion while Charlotte doesn't look like that. Charlotte looks more fragile, like she can't actually defend herself, turn her into easy pray, there is the twist from a career focused journalist to a action here that doesn't fit her too well. There were some touching moments from the movie too and specially from young Matilda Firth who plays the role of Ginger; Blake's daughter, she had to saw her father going through the sickness stages, it was very impressive.
All around the internet the audience reception has been very low, to not say divided because of its low scores, bellow 6 setting an impression for anyone looking into it, I watch it with high hopes but quickly change my mind, still not the worst movie I have seen though and a 6 is a bit harsh. The movie does brake the traditional werewolf ""lore"" and its very predictable too as it progress. Got to say that practical effects also lift up Christopher Abbot performance instead of going full blown CGI, let him cook more drama into the character, but also keeping that human appearance kinda meh the transformation process.

Wolf Man doesn't leaves you hanging at the end, it goes full circle, the ending is satisfying so at least that did well. I'm not going into details because it would be a mayor spoiler although after all Blake does end been the hero for his family. There is a confrontation that felt short and probably would have been better if there were multiple attacks rather than just focus on Blake slow and painful transformation. At the end of the movie the Blake's full transformation can't be stop and not only physically but he also lost his soul, becoming a total beast who I think instead of truly protecting his family was more about territorial, this is when Charlotte had to safe her daughter from the confrontation. Blake did have a final moment with his family, fully transform into a Wolf Man getting them to go across the woods and leaving for ever vanishing into the Oregon forest, it would have been more interesting if we really find out what happen to Charlotte and her daughter but instead the movie just goes mute to this topic.
The opening has some very tense sequences with Blake's young version and his father that will get you hook for sure, the first half of the movie is its strongest as it still doesn't get into the Wolf Man topic, by then you are just waiting for it to happen and then at the arrival of the climax that's where it feels flat. Making a movie with this few characters is not easy, its dark, close environment, its not easy at all but I personally don't think this is a failure but just a movie I watch, kill an hour but would never look back.
As I mention above I don't consider the movie to be a total failure, although I'm not a fan of this kind of lets say "soft" werewolf transformation, I'm more into the fantasy side of things when it comes to monsters like this, after all that's what we want when watching a monster based move, we want the movie to bring to life a creature that doesn't exist so why keeping the physical human side of it?? other than that I'm ok with the rest of the plot and the acting was good, if it wouldn't be for that transformation detail that its intention was probably boost up the drama, it falls flat and took the rest of the movie with it, reason why I only gives this movie a flat 7/10 almost falling into a high 6, would I recommend it?? yeah to kill some time I would.
Well a movie from 2005, not something most people would be after but since I do watch content and read on a daily bases, even during the past month where I have been working a couple of things to balance my time and been able to be more consistent on Hive, I get content refer all the time either by friends online or any other content related service, The Descent (2005) is one of them that kept coming up after I saw Heretic (2024). A very very very dark movie visually, there is a huge part of the movie that is all pitch black and not much to see so this is one that has to be watch in the highest resolution you could, in fact I started watching on a regular 1080p release and had to find a better Blue Ray release to appreciate it better.
Source
Even with all the dark scenes the movie manage to create a lot of tension because of the unknown, claustrophobia and fear that is not hard to get caught up with as its so dark and you have no idea from where you going to get jump from on this underground world even when there are so many questions about how this monsters that actually look like humans end up down there.
The movie develops around three main characters, those are Sarah, Juno and Beth who enjoy extreme sports and adventures, the first scene is the three of them doing rafting while Sarah's husband Paul and her daughter Jessica watch from the shore, tragedy strikes almost immediately when Sarah have a big lost during a car crash, both her husband and daughter dies so she felt have very little to live for until she starts getting back into this kinda of extreme adventures with a new group of women, still Juno and Beth on it but there has been some distance between them after the accident, specially Juno but they seem to want to get back to how things were before.
Source
The plot of the movie is not complicated at all, this first tragic scene was to spice things up but the real sauce is how and what they find down on the caverns they exploring, I had no clue people do this for fun but the very first scene when they get into a tight tight space where they can barely fit, IM OUT!!! hell no, you go down that route because I'm going back up to the surface. Juno got them to a set of caverns nobody has explore before just for the fun of a new adventure and get to claim them, if we think about it this is a big flaw on the plot as how someone with "experience" on this game get to make such a stupid decision.
It all goes south when they start to loose their gear and face a huge challenge on moving from one cavern to another on a terrain that nobody has seen or explore before, at least that is what they though until they start finding climbing that might be 100 years old or at least that's the expression they use in one scene. This last idea makes me think every other monster they find on the caverns are a group of humans that got lost and eventually start evolving to adapt living in this caverns, its a very sci fi extreme though but not impossible, so the hunt begins and friendships are destroy as the group of women starts despairing.
The cast delivers some seriously impressive performance that make the horror feel real, I say this because first its not easy at all to make close environment movies work out with very few characters but this movie goes to the extreme into this concept and I still kept watching and interested on what was going to happen next and how a conflict between Sarah and Juno start growing.
SourceShauna MacDonald really stands out as the main character; playing Sarah, showing a woman who was barely holding on keeping her life together after loosing her family, from the entire group you might think she would be the first one to give up and die like on the first ten minutes of been lost inside the caverns. Natalie Mendoza plays Juno, another great performance, not necessarily as the bad one from the movie but for sure the selfish one because she didn't got the group to those caverns to claim them together, she wanted to accomplish it as a personal acolyte it's just that for some reason she didn't want to go alone probably didn't have the courage to do it so.
I could tell how the audience could be divided at watching this movie since its very unreal something like this would ever happen, specially finding a creature close to Gollum from LOTR down there but this is not a documentary or a story based on life events so any crazy story that is entertaining is welcome I would say.
I could tell how this movie might be inspired or at least has similarities with other horror movies but one aspect that makes it so twisted is the ending, there is a UK and US version of the movie, both with different ending. On the US theatrical release Sarah manage to escape from the caves, get to one of their cars and drive away so she lives. On the UK version things are more darker and I had to look for this version online since I had no clue, I watch the US version first but on this other version Sarah had a dream or hallucination of escaping, she was still at the caves trapped underground in that situation she would most likely die for sure as the monsters keep getting closer to her. If I had watch the UK version I think the movie would have been so much better, the reason why I say this is because not very often there are movies with such a dark ending, instead of ending with Sarah as the hero or survivor, its all darkness, doom and hopelessness, this is the kind of ending that makes you think and say out loud WTF!!!!
The Descent (2005) is a movie that I really enjoy a lot, mainly because it is a type of movie that most of the time fails at been great, tight space, few characters, very dark, this is just a combination of aspects that not many directors know how to turn into greatness. The support cast had their own bright moments and were never screen time huggers meaning that the main characters shine as they are expected too in this world of darkness, yes its true that it would be better if there was some backstory about the monsters although you had two put two and two together to know this were humans that got lost and evolve, we have male and female monsters, this becomes more clear when the female monster look worry about what happen to one of the youngest one. A great movie I would recommend but not before setting the right expectations mainly because of how dark in terms of visually dark the movie is, its like 70% of the movie on the caverns were you cant see sht, reason why I gave it a 7/10 and for sure would watch again some day.
Companion is a movie I knew before hand what was it about but I think this is a movie that would do great for anyone who didn't and just pick up a random movie to watch at the cinema, good old days of getting to the wall with posters and pick one because you didn't know what to watch. Under this circumstances the AJA!! moments would be even better as you probably won't see it coming, a future that currently is not that far behind, now days there are already digital companions, some are just text others have animations and believe it or not some people falls for it to the point they create this bonding loosing their minds into it because of certain circumstances that affect them on their life.

The movie develops around Irish and Josh, who at first will give you the impression of that perfect couple who actually fall in love from the first scene, meeting in a supermarket like total strangers and right from the start you get that dark scene looming and warning you as Iris talks about the two most important moments in her "life", meeting Josh and killing him. So at this point you think, Ok this is a passion gory drama but its more than that, this immediately sets up the expectations of carnage that carries through the whole movie and it increase more once you start picking up the clues, Iris is not your typical girlfriend, she doesn't seem to be please or bother by certain things Josh do like when he asks for the weather or when they are in bed because she has been program to please him, she is actually a robot programmed for companionship but to make it more real she actually doesn't know this but then to make it worst she have feelings for Josh deep feelings and we already know how crazy humans can be when this feelings and expectations are broken, btch go crazy!!! well not really because she does have proper motives.
Josh had the audacity of tapping into her programing when he takes Iris to this fancy lake house owned by this sketchy Russian guy named Sergey who is Josh's friend; Kat boy friend, they both assume the guy is a gangster because all the money and he keeps it cash since he doesn't trust banks. The thing is that Sergey doesn't know or at least I think he doesn't know Iris is a robot or how they call them "fuckbot" and starts getting handy with her during a scene on a lake, this is when chaos unfolds. Josh modify Iris aggression because it was the plan to have her kill Sergey and run off with the money but things start to go south when Josh breaks her heart, thing is that they have spend a lot together and Josh develops feelings for her too, thing is that Josh deep is a selfish mf who demands attention, this is when btch go crazy.
SourceSophie Thatcher is so cute on this movie, she is lovely, absolutely crush it as Iris, her acting manage to give you that impression she really have to clue of what is going on and at first denies to think everything is a lie, she insist it call can't be a lie until Josh starts pushing her to the limit, keep in mind her aggression levels are still modified by Josh so he is playing with her feelings at the same time she can turn wild on him and that's is EXACTLY what happens next.
Jack Quaid as the second main character does a great job too playing the selfish guy who probably got a companion robot because he just cant sustain a relationship all because of how selfish he is, its just obvious that when he starts putting himself first this other person will eventually brakes up with him. The support cast does great two, friends of Josh who are also at the house, they all kinda hate on Iris but they were not all part of the initial plan, surprise surprise they all have been manipulated by Josh and Kat.
From the moment the cat is out of the bag; that's when the movie reveal who is really Irish, the movie turns very predictable, including that we already know the parameters of how Irish is program and can be control, still with this flaws I enjoy the movie a lot as it use dark humor when everything starts to go wrong for Josh and Kat, its funny how he ends up all fucked up, Iris even kills him and this is no spoiler, she says it on the very first scene. It's all like a bad joke that plays on Josh, how he thought he was so fkn smart, you would though that someone who buys this kind of high end tech, its a fkn robot, would understand very well how things work but he never did.
The ending of the movie really goes full circle bringing every theme home, those moments of control and autonomy in a way that is both satisfying and unsettling. The movie really makes you think how and when this is going to happen in the not so far future, there are already laws in place that are starting to extend their length to the point of make it illegal for trying to make an AI be aware and have "feelings", trying to really emulate a human all this because we already know how bad experiments can go, the point been its scary when you go into all the details.
During multiple scenes the movie will fool you and make you think twice if Iris is really in love with Josh or its just her programing, I guess we are not use to this kind of robots, full blown android that look, talk and might even feel human that will make you feel bad for her, its funny how one of her arms loose her synthetic flesh and skin, how different would the movie be if it shows you her metal face instead? shows how superficial we humans can be but its all part of our programing, been superficial is very important for communication there is nothing wrong about it but sometimes we are just too superficial.
Well after reading my post you already know I enjoy this movie a lot, my wife and I start watching it but she fall sleep, she knew what the movie was about and probably lost interest, she was tired too but makes me think if people would loose interest on it once they know Iris was a robot. I know I'm a different kind of audience, when others shut down movies I keep watching because I want to know at least why is it so bad that people shut it down, in this case the drama was enough for me to keep watching, there are some very clever moments during the movie that will keep you interest for it alive. Overall a good movie at least for a one time watch, I can see myself watching it again to share the experience since its a above average movie for me, reason why I would recommend it and gave it a 7.5/10.
The Substance is a film made last year 2024 that has been nominated for many awards, recently winning the Oscar award for best makeup and styling, it stars Demi Moore with a rather curious character, I had years without seeing this actress on screen, I do not know if she has participated in other films, but it was a pleasant surprise to see her again.
I remembered her as a mature woman who looked very young for her age and seeing her now with signs of aging well marked impressed me, as I did not expect it, it may have been a strategy of the same film for the role that she had to develop or actually is that her face looks like that, with a forced beauty, maintained over time based on Botox and facial treatment, on the other hand it was nice to see how well she maintains a body.
Demi Moore plays Elizabeth, an aerobics influencer in decline, with a television program that made her famous, obtaining a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, the film begins with this symbol “the star” and what happens to it as the years go by, a metaphor that alludes to famous people and their transformation over time.
Elizabeth is a woman who lives alone and her world is television, her image and the veneration felt by her audience is what keeps her alive, accustomed to luxury, designer clothes and servitude, she is not willing to lose the comforts she earned with hard work and sacrifice, her greatest enemy being time. She is vain and her own image begins to displease her.
Her TV show is outdated, they made a copy of those that were trendy in the 80's with the same hip movements and costumes with pastel colors, bandanas and accessories of that era, although I lived it when I was very small enjoy watching these scenes 😆 it was like going back to the past.
Elizabeth has a very unpleasant boss, grotesque and rude manners personified by Dennis Quaid, who almost always appeared eating in a disgusting way this fired Elizabeth because he seeks fresh meat, a young girl as a replacement for Elizabeth, just after being fired, she enters a state of confusion and has a traffic accident waking up in the hospital, there a nurse observes her back specifically the column and sees that she may be a candidate for a scientific experiment leaving her a number without further details.
It is a product that when injected creates an exact cell division of your DNA, it is a double of yourself, but younger, more beautiful, healthier, you are yourself but in an improved version. This being comes out of the mother's spine, as if the birth was from the back and the only inconvenience is that they have to share their nutrients and their time, since they were only one person, that is to say, one week one lived and then it was the turn of the other. If they both respect the balance everything would be fine, but we know how things happen when we don't even know our own qualities and defects.
At the beginning everything went great, but then came the fight between the Alter Ego and the old version, maturity and responsibility are not the same even if they are the same person, I know it may sound confusing, but in the end there was no winner. If a person does not accept the changes of his environment, the passage of time, nor does he accept himself as he is, he is destined to self-destruction.
With quite gore scenes, where blood and greasy food predominated, there was also black humor and satire to an empty society, which craves quick fame and venerates people for their physique rather than their talents, I think the substance sought to give a message to those young people who deal with challenges and current trends in the only way that could get their attention, something disgusting, nasty and dirty. I feel it makes a subtle call to reinforce self-esteem, to know the consequences of our actions.
I watched the whole film in awe and with sadness because it starred Demi Moore, I felt she had lowered the quality of her productions, but then I admired her bravery for embodying this character.
The beauty of the photography, the framing of many scenes, the makeup and the costume and environment elements stood out, it is a film with a vision of the future because many would be willing to sell their soul to keep their body intact in their youth. It fulfills the thriller, sci-fi, black comedy and satire genres. It grossed me out, but it made me think and kept me glued to the screen, between stress and suspense.
Directed Roland Emmerich, Midway (2019) is a movie that has to be taken with pinchers due to its topic, it tries to pack a six month story from World War II into a single movie and I think that's the reason for low scores, the movie was not necessarily bad because to be honest the action scenes are very good and same goes for the drama but trying to explain the tactics and how it goes from the Pearl Harbor attack and several major events leading up to the Battle of Midway, this was a very ambitious project, this movie will make you question yourself if you are really following the story correctly and not only assume, it will make you want to understand how the US is staying ahead on the intelligence leak game and Japan motives but the movie doesn't make a good job at providing this information for someone who doesn't know the exact events.
Source
The movie wants to be both an historical recompilation of epic events and action packed, an great combination although this time turns into a confusing one. The movie tries to balance serious military strategy including explosive action sequences, those nose dives by the bombers are epic, same goes for the air battles but its how the story is been told that got me lost in dialogue a few times. The movie in my opinion paid a lot of attention to details when it comes to the environment but I'm not so sure about the historical aspect since I only know the most common and popular stories out of this entire combat that took months.
The movie not only covers an ambitious timeline starting with the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor that based on the events of the movie could be avoided if they heard the right people who were trying to warn them, moving through the Marshall Island attack to the famous Doolittle bombing of Tokyo all the way to the final battle at Midway. The movie is full of stars and well known faces, but the story focus on Dick Best played by Ed Skrein, a skilled pilot who ends up becoming one of the key players in the entire battle, we also got Intelligence Officer Ewdwin Layton played by Patrick Wilson and next to him code breaker Joseph Rochefort played by Brennan Brown, working behind the scenes to try to predict Japan next move to stay ahead, at least in strategy because after Pearl Harbor they seem to be on serious disadvantage to the Japanese Navy.

The movie mostly focus on the air battle and how USA Intelligence manage to crack Japanese communications to predict each of their attacks and movies all the way to Midway Island, it was putting the pieces together as it was not straight interception like pinch a phone line. The movie shows both sides of the war, the USA and Japanese commanders going at each other from the distance, this gives a way broader view of the conflict but it also makes it hard to keep track as they keep jumping from location to location, from land to the ships, back and forward.
The entire air battle does felt like Maverick for the time and then when the Tokyo bombing happen reminds me a lot to Masters of The Air. Woody Harrelson plays Admiral Chester Nimitz with surprising restraint, the moment I saw he was going to jump into the conflict I knew it was business, things had to change from that point but it was not as simple since he needed more than a good hunch from the intelligence department to stay on the tracks to win the battle and show DC they were wrong about what was going on.
It's only obvious Midaway (2019) is a movie told from the USA side but Japanese characters get a fair amount of screen time and development, if you didn't talk Japanese were probably the most confusing once to follow up but with subtitles it was ok. Most of their screen time comes up on the final battle at Midway where the movie shows the devastating impact of the crucial attacks by the USA bombers, I still try to imagine how does it feel after dropping that bomb and manage to get out, its that moment of watching many men pointing canons at your plain and shooting at the same time, watching and listening to the explosions and you just keep going getting bellow 1000 feet altitude to drop that bomb.
Source
USA dive bombers manage to sink three Japanese ships, those were Kaga, Akagi and Soryu. The movie does a great job at capturing Dick Best final bombing, trying to execute an attack almost blind since his his copilot was defending in the back at the same time, without been able to tell him how high they were so he knew he had to get as closer as possible. During this scene a times the hole anti air fire felt a bit overwhelming, I'm not saying it looks fake but it does look excessive, or at least it makes me question if it was actually like that or even worst. It was this point in the battle that change everything, with many experienced pilots who marked a turning point in the Pacific War. I can only imagine there is so much more to this story but this were the scenes with the most impact, an interesting part of the conflict is how Japanese officers would accept responsibility of their defeat, in a very particular way, going down with the ship, staying behind while it was been destroy so it doesn't fall into USA hands.
The events of the movie are very real, there is for sure certain scenes that were change to keep things spicy and for entertainment purpose but the overall events and sacrifices by each side was very real. The ending does feels rushed considering the epic scale of the battles and their historical significance with way more tape to cover but I find it hard to be done in such short time, would probably had to be a 3hr movie and then would have too many plot lines and subplots.
Midway (2019) is a decent war movie but I think it tries to hard to cover too much distance and time, from USA to Japan and even China that was very disappointing how they just fly the bombers over Japan and doesn't give any details about it, I say this because I felt in love with Masters of The Air. The details and quality production of the movie is very present, the actors did great too but its just the script that is too crunch in and doesn't let a big story spread its wing, this was a movie to probably be split into two or three to make more sense of it. I only gave it a 8/10 because I enjoy a lot the air battles but even after giving a good score I feel I'm only living the hype and not the actual drama of the story, totally recommended as I still think its a great watch but I know many will have a different opinion about the movie and even call it trash.
In 1993, the world was about to witness the birth of a movie that would completely change the history of world cinema. When an adventure called Jurassic Park was released, it was an instant success. Specialized critics loved it, and the general public also loved it. The success was reflected in numbers, bringing astronomical box office sales to Universal Studios. However, what surprises me most here is how this movie stole my full attention while I was still just a (actively behaved) child.
I don't remember exactly the details of what my experience was like when watching this movie for the first time, but I remember very well that I was literally shocked to see all those dinosaurs coming to life right in front of my curious gaze while I couldn't look away from the television. To this day, few movies have managed to do this to me, because when I saw the story of those dinosaurs being told, I - who adore these creatures - felt as if I were inside that adventure, and living what all those characters were living (I wanted that).
Not ironically, this was the first movie that made me fall madly in love with the Seventh Art, and since then, cinema has become a growing religion over the years. The impact this movie has on my life is somewhat surreal (with an obvious emphasis on special effects... which were revolutionary). To this day, I still can't explain in words how important this adventure is to me, but I can say that this was also the movie that made me meet the incredible director Steven Spielberg, and also made me an unconditional fan of all the work he does.
Written by the duo Michael Crichton and David Koepp (who did a sensational job), the movie is based on a book originally written by Crichton himself, and tells the story of a dinosaur park that will be opened with real creatures, regenerated based on scientific methods that use DNA preserved in amber. However, when things get out of control, the theme park becomes a huge (and dangerous) cage. The cast includes names like Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum (a synergistic and competent trio) and together they create something magical, and very engaging.
I could write a really huge text about all my love for Jurassic Park and still, that wouldn't be enough to express all my admiration for this project. Everything works like a flawless cog here, because this movie is something impeccable (even if it's not completely perfect). Even after so many years, this story still manages to captivate me as if it were the first time I was watching it. Last but not least, the soundtrack: the fabulous work of John Williams, who I also admire.

I think for this movie I had the perfect expectations, I can tell how some people might be over hype because it is an AppleTv+ tittle although the truth remain that most movies that go direct streaming might be best at just that, streaming services and not the big screen. The Gorge (2025) if it had a theatrical release it would be a very average movie, been on just streaming services probably works on its favor reason why I was surprise by how much I enjoy it. The movie by Scott Derrickson does a great job at mixing multiple genres, probably trying to grasp too much but this time it work fine, even on its short play time of 127 minutes.
The plot is not complicated at all but there are a few hidden twist that work fine and still probably because of its short runtime the movie decides to expose them just too quick and some felt like underdeveloped. Two Elite snipers stationed on opposite sides of a mysterious gorge that hides something terrifying, cover by a very thick mist that never goes away, from there is a mix of romance, action, horror, and sci fi, that turns a but too rush towards the end but I think Apple TV+ has been stepping up its game lately with original content, and The Gorge is another solid addition to their growing library that shows they're becoming a serious contender in the streaming wars, I mean a real contender to take the crown from Netflix. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10, which might surprise some who were expecting more from it or a direct action movie.

The movie introduces us to Levi; played by Miles Teller, who is a former U.S. Marine sniper recently turned mercenary for the most part taking contracts from private sector but whose grip on life has become weak a man who lacks purpose and sees life from a very different angle. On the other side there is Drasa; portrayed by Anya Taylor Joy, a Lithuanian sniper who's dealing with her terminally ill father. Both are recruited for a highly classified mission by a shadowy organization called Dark Lake, represented by Bartholomew; role played by Sigourney Weaver, a cold and mysterious high rank director. Levi and Drasa drop in blind to the mission, not knowing much about their assignment when they arrive at their respective towers on opposite sides of The Gorge, which has been kept secret since at least the 1940s when representatives from both sides of the Cold War agreed to collaborate on keeping it hidden from the world. Their job is simple, spend a solitary year watching over this big hole and making sure that whatever lurks and try to go up the gorge doesn't escape. When Levi arrives at his post, he gets a brief speech by the man going out of shift, J.D. ; played by Sope Dirisu, who fills him in on some details about the assignment and warns him that contact between the East and West towers is strictly forbidden.
Source
The first rule of no contact between towers gets broken real quick, mainly because of Drasa who is very sentimental woman, its here when their relationship develops through written messages on large drawing pads/board which they read through binoculars, and soon they are communicating daily, sharing personal stories and even playing chess across the gorge, a scene that makes some reference to Taylor Joy's role in The Queen's Gambit. The romance aspect of the movie kicks in and eventually Levi gives up and decides to break protocol by rappelling across the gorge with flowers in and to meet Drasa who quickly breaks the ice with "...you thinking who to get in my pats" that was fast. Its also how their connection feels rushed, with their line of business there is no time for romance most of the time so it would not be strange why they both act like that, yet somehow it feels believable given their isolation, and they spend time drinking wine, dancing, and comparing notes on their various kills, been part of the romance type of things to share that two snipers would be interested in.
As I'm writing this article I kinda feeling not into going more details of the movie as how events happen, the article would become a full blown spoiler, although its well known by now how much I enjoy it and got to say the ending ties up the story in a way that is satisfying and somewhat expected, although I always though one of them was not going to make it out of the gorge. After discovering the truth about Dark Lake's operations and the origins of the Hollow Men, Levi and Drasa decide they can't leave without destroying the gorge to prevent future operators like them, other snipers who have been in and out of their shift for decades, from being manipulated as they were. They activate the "Stray Dog" protocol, a self destruct mechanism involving a nuclear weapon that was designed as a last resort if the contents of the gorge could no longer be kept in check, their mission was never to destroy what ever was inside of the gorge but just to keep it inside. The blast radius is 4.2 kilometers, meaning they need to detonate it from a distance and then run to safety.
Source
The entire action sequence scenes after Levi falls into the gorge and Drasa jumps in after him was great, it really felt like one single mission going one after another danger scene, but within this scenes there were certain characters and locations that needed more context like "The Hollow Men" that they confront at a certain point, this creator kept Drasa hostage but there was not reason given why and we only get to assume that his transformation is the result of him been down there for so long, the movie does give some background about how everything started so don't be discourage by this comments, it's just me enjoying the movie and wanting more out of it. Romance keeps going and it seems like a conventional happy ending that feels a bit too neat given the horrors and what they have gone through almost without any consequences but it works and pays off for their relationship, which is ultimately the heart of the movie. The poem Levi wrote for Drasa, titled "She Collapsed the Night," is revealed in full, expressing how she brought hope back into his life.
Its clear by now that this movie is not going to break any records or win any Oscars but it feels like a great action movie that is far from been a horror movie although does include mutants and a lot of explosions, some of the shooting scenes were just great because them been pro snipers they get to manage other type of weapons, high caliber that makes it even more exciting. The balance between romance, action and sci fi is just on point, cant say one is more incline than the other or over the top at any time. I wish the script had been more willing to embrace mystery and that it had spent more time developing Levi's character and exploring the origins of the gorge, I can't deny that I was entertained throughout the entire movie, it also felt too short. The movie is the perfect example of Apple TV+'s growing library of original content and a reminder that there's still room for mid-budget genre films in the streaming era. If you are in the mood for a high caliber romance / action movie that will probably be more than a great one time watch the I totally recommend The Gorge (2025), a movie that is a solid 7.5/10 and I would probably watch a second time.
¡Hola amigos!
Hello friends! The other day I saw a post here that talked about a movie that made me want to see and so I did. So today I'm here to share my opinion about Kinda Pregnant.
The story follows two lifelong best friends, Lainy and Kate. Lainy always dreamed of getting pregnant and starting a family, unlike Kate, but at 40 years old it still hasn't happened and her relationship with her partner came to an end. So now she must deal with the reality of her present and her broken heart. In the midst of all this Kate becomes pregnant and jealousy begins on Lainy's part. She also doesn't understand why Kate seems to stay away from her and prefers to get together with another pregnant woman. So Lainy pretends to be pregnant to participate in a yoga class and meet other pregnant women, there she ends up becoming friends with one of them and the lie of the false pregnancy starts to become a ball difficult to stop.
A rather eccentric comedy film, very funny and bordering on the ridiculous at times, but with an underlying message that is not to romanticize motherhood. I found the focus interesting because it is a story that tells you the ugly side of pregnancy, as it is a process that changes you completely, both physically and emotionally, and perhaps this is not talked about so much.
Undoubtedly, motherhood is a miracle and brings many good things to life, but it can also be very hard to go through and some women are affected more than others. At the moment I am not a mother, so I can't talk much about the subject, everything I know is from my own experiences, but I can associate several behaviors I saw in pregnant women around me with those shown in the film. So it is not so far from reality.
However, the film is ideal to have fun and have a good time watching it, although it can become absurd in more than one way and embarrassing. The laughs won't be lacking. The story seemed crazy to me, but I enjoyed watching it. There is also a love story that begins to weave between lies and ends up exploding in the end, but like all romantic comedies, everything falls into place towards the end.
If we talk about the ending, I would have liked it to be more closed and not so open. Maybe some time jump would have happened and they would have shown us Lainy's life in the future because I'm curious and I would like to know what happened with everything. But well, overall it was a fun movie about motherhood.

Got to say a good part of the audience look like they were excited to see Cameron Diaz back on the big screen, specially if you are in your 30s you probably saw her on Charlies Angels, its been a while since her last movie and pairing her with Jamie Foxx I knew it was going to be a funny one, yeah the movie seem to be just too formulated, the spy comedy with tons of explosions, the couple that gets haunted by their past trying to build up a life now with kids, I mean there is nothing wrong about but the extreme high expectations that probably the audience had, this is not a blockbuster movie just a movie to kill some time and have a few laughs, you know that type of movie you have in queue for when ever there is nothing else to watch and you just want to relax. Many question if this was the right type of movie for her to come back and I honestly think its fine, at this point in time she is an icon from the early 2000s, two decades ago so yeah its been too long to all of the sudden land a role on a movie like say Dune, come on, lets be realistic.

A movie with the right amount of flash backs as it has to set the story, everything starts 15 years ago with Emily; played by Cameron Diaz, and her husband Matt; played by Jamie Foxx. They both CIA agents on a mission to steal a master key that can control power grids around the world, the opening of the movie sets the right tone to it with very intense fight scenes and what force them out of that life, kids. Emily is pregnant and this force them to fake their death and retire from the spy profession, living quiet life in the suburban with their now two kids, this all work out until a viral video of them beating up some guys at a nightclub after been called boomers and try to bully them, this goes off on the internet and blows their cover, it sounds ridiculous but totally believable now days.
After a good start the movie follows a very predictable and safe formula, from the spy couple who retire in a mysterious way because they having a kid, to life their calm life to having spy blood in their family, its the case of Emily whose mother is an ex MI6, Ginny played by Glen Close is Emily's mother and the one person who can lead them into trying to find the bad guys after them. There is a lot of running around trying to recover that master key that controls power grids, dealing with the bad guys who want revenge to Emily and Matt, and attempting to keep their kids safe while explaining why mom and dad are not just boring suburban parents, all in between this there is a lot of laughs. They made the title try to work both for Cameron Diaz and the movie itself, I would consider it a "soft" come back that work well enough.
Source
Diaz and Foxx definitely still have that spark that made them fun to watch, they both look very natural and never force on their roles and you can tell they're having fun with the physical comedy and action scenes. They both have experience on this kind of action movies, not that they are stunt man but the acting seem very natural as they made the transition from suburban parents to spy action couple, in my opinion some of the action scenes during the movie look so exaggerated when it comes to the stunts and explosions that even Emily and Matt look surprise and amaze about what is going on, I found that aspect funny.
Glenn Close steals every scene she is in as Emily's mother Ginny, bringing this perfect mix of British sophistication and deadly spy skills, she came out into the movie in a very precise moment to lift up the characters when they loosing momentum. Jamie Demetriou as her younger boyfriend Nigel also boost the laughs and comedy side, especially during a scene where he has to save London using a laptop and completely freaks out. The kids, played by McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson, do their best with what they are given, after all very secondary characters but feel more like plot devices than fully developed people.

Lets be honest the movie has been smash with low scores reviews from both critics and audience, although a 6/10 from the audience puts it more into the "its fine" category rather than the 3/10 that critics gave it on Rottentomatoes. I think some times we need to be realistic and appreciate movies for what they are, in this case an easy watch not complicated at all very formulated classic spy couple movie trying to protect their kids. This is not intended to win any awards or reinvent action scenes, does have a couple of plot twist that keep you interested so I don't see why going as low as a 3.
As most things in the movie the ending is a very predictable one but at the same time somewhat rushed, after a big chase jumping from boats to bikes, big chase sequence, its thrown in our face that Chuck; played by Kyle Chandler, was actually working with Balthazar Gor, the bad guys, the classic double agent who was planning to use the master key to control power grids all over the world, this is just too much, reminds of Pinky and The Brain type of plan.
To keep the movie very Friends & Family rated, in the final fight Emily and Matt work together with their kids, Alice use her tech skills to hack the facility security, something that always diminish movies is the fake hacking scenes. The family does manage to secure the master key and gave it to the authorities, giving them immunity as they were part of a "non official" CIA reaction team, basically the type of division that doesn't exist so when things go south they were to blame without any connections to the agency.
The movie does keep the door open for a sequel, considering the low scores I doubt Netflix would want to go for it, but got to recognize it did well for Netflix in the streaming department with 88.9 million hours view, this doesn't translate in success but is not as bad as reviews put it. It's not going to revolutionize the action comedy genre and it probably won't be remembered as one of Diaz's best movies, it has enough entertaining moments to make it worth a watch. I gave it a 6.5/10 score that feels just right for me, it's slightly above average thanks to the chemistry between the Diaz and Foxx, along with some solid action sequences but it never quite reaches the heights it could have with this talented cast.
It was time to watch Babygirl (2024), after all I'm a Nicole Kidman fan, most recently watching lover her performance on the TV SeriesLioness with Zoe Zaldaña, based on what I had seen from the trailers this is a drama series I wanted to watch with my wife reason why I wait for the proper time. We both were expecting a straightforward erotic theme movie and it exceeded our expectations been something more complex and even a bit confusing like they were trying too hard but still had a blast considering drama movies like this don't get too high scores most of the time, in my opinion probably a genre that doesn't have that many fans. For me the waiting was worth it, my wife and I had a great time, the movie is funny and does the hole affair story that gives us both mix flashbacks of Fifty Shades of Gray, between all the domination topic.
Source
The movie is very straightforward as I mention, we got Romy; played by Nicole Kidman, having sex with her husband Jacob; played by Antonio Banderas, to set the tone right, so from the start you get an erotic scene in your face like "lets make this clear", at this point in time they still appear to be ok with each other, meaning they mutually satisfy each other but latter on she sneak away to watch porn and finish herself in private, this scene both made us laugh hard and be amaze that this is the kind of movies that brings up part of the reality that happens now days even with women. Romy has way more sexual desire that her husband that she is not getting fulfilled despite having a great life both at home and at her job but not in bed. The movie is not shy and doesn't waste time with showing us how perfect their marriage is before introducing us to the chaos and complications, something I really enjoy about it.
Romy is the CEO of a robotics company that develops automation systems for warehouses, essentially creating technology that replaces human workers to put it in simple words, while her husband Jacob is a theater director working on a production of Hedda Gabler. Their professional lives themself are a great contrast to each other, one been a more passive and creative person while the other is straight into the shark tank every day having to compete and be on top of things to outperform others in the tech industry, for example Romy is all about control and efficiency, while Jacob deals in human emotion and drama.
Source
Now here comes trouble, there is this new intern at Romy's tech company, his name is Samuel but the movie makes them officially met outside of the office and Samuel waste no time in showing his charisma to Romy, at the moment they met he was calming down an unleash dog outside of the building on the side walk. Romy latter discovers this same man, Samuel; played by Harris Dickinson, is one of her company's new interns. They had this one on one session like any other company, weird because she was the CEO and he just an intern but this man took his guns out and came up with a comment so awkward and boldly that would get anyone fired but essentially told Romy she is the type of woman that likes to be told what to do, I was like WHAT!!!! this guy owns her. From that moment Samuel unlocks Romy, at first she would try to keep it professional but she just can't deny it, you can tell how much she love it. From here the movie turn a bit predictable to be honest but its evident that this would turn into an addiction to the forbidden relationship between Romy and Samuel.
As a Nicole Kidman fan I got to say she did awesome on this movie been sexy and the dominated one role on the relationship play out just great, a women at war with her own desires, who for a long time have not told her husband how she really feels until she just couldn't hold her desires anymore, problem is that once she opens up jajajaja to all this situation she had kept hidden from everyone she does because of the wrong reasons and situations, she even once told her husband but didn't get the right reaction and answers from him, she basically wanted him to put her down and pull her hair type of reaction. Romy was the crazy one, naughty, Samuel was just directing the boat, there is one scene where she goes from submission and resistance at a hotel and I think this is the result of her been captive of all this desires, her emotions and face expressions were remarkable during this scene.
SourceHarris Dickinson as Samuel is equally awesome in a role that could have easily fallen flat as I mention it look like he was just at the wheel but not really directing the course, instead he did facilitate the right circumstances for everything to unfold, he was the spark in a fine line between being confidently dominant and slightly uncertain, occasionally letting his role slip to reveal that he might be faking some of his dominance almost like he is running out of ideas but improvising his way through providing everything she wanted. Antonio Banderas obviously will make you feel sad for the guy, he brings warmth and genuine affection to Jacob, making him more than just the clueless husband. There's a particularly heartbreaking scene where Romy attempts to ask him for what she needs sexually but can't bring herself to do it without hiding her face under her shirt, there is contrast between her shame with Jacob and her freedom with Samuel like there were walls she has built within her marriage.
The ending of the movie rather than been completely dramatic in the traditional sense of a fight between Jacob, Samuel and Romy actually turn out to be a message where Romy has to deal with the consequences of all the damage she has caused to her family and herself, going farther than that she has now to learn how to find a way to integrate the different parts of herself that she has kept separated from everything else. The ending doesn't necessarily provide an easy answer or say moral judgment, something a bit different but still predictable, after all the drama and laughs I got out from the movie I was OK with it. Towards the end Romy is not fully liberated or unlock from her desires but does seem more of a normal thing for her, like she have probably mentally evolve.
In the end for me and my wife Babygirl is the classic affair theme but with its own personal twist and touch, at least this time the woman is not shy of admitting that what she wants is way more than the conventional sexual life and she wants it within her marriage is just that might seem so embarrassing for her and besides she was expecting her husband to receive the message and take action on it. The performances, particularly Kidman's lift up the movie, instead of falling into exploitation or melodrama, its not a groundbreaking erotic drama but it does offer an interesting angle on desire, power and the thoughts we ALL sometimes keep hidden from our partner, either you are married or just together with someone. The movie can be consider a bit open minded so when going to watch it do not limit yourself just to the straightforward Basic Instinct (1992), I think this is more than just that. Yes the movie is awkward that will make you cringe sometimes but it works on its favor, there is the very interesting side of sexuality exploration and identity, definitely something worth watching, reason I give it a 7/10.
I guess many would have confuse this movie with what actually happen back then during the 1972 Munich Olympics games hostage crisis but this movie is goes into the details of what went into the newsroom of ABC Sports. If I had to describe it this was a 70s sweaty, claustrophobic, chain smoking newsroom experience where ABC Sports producers were probably trying to byte more than they could at attempting to properly cover what was more of a journalistic specific situation rather than keep covering what was going on at the Olympics, not because this happen during a Sports event meant they shouldn't pass it to a department with more experience into this type of topics. The entire movie screams moral ambiguity that I know for many will be end up in a weird taste of a movie, instead of a feature of it would be a bug.
It was the 70s and tech was very very limited but from my perspective is so beautiful how this men and woman had this craftsmanship of someone getting the news out, either at interviewing the police radio or harnessing a phone to a studio mic.

In September 5, 1972, a group of Palestinian militants stormed the Olympic Village, killed two Israeli athletes and took nine hostages. ABC Sports was covering the Olympics when they accidentally had to be witness and report this global crisis. The movie is more about how ABC Sports producers took over the situation, how they mishandle it and how even though they were the only ones transmitting it live, it was very poor coverage that lead to miss information at multiple times, the cast did a great job at it, to transmit at times the desperation of not knowing exactly what and what not to cover, what to show on live TV and even how to say things to avoid what they fear the most, messing everything up giving information that was not accurate.
The movie begins with ABC Sports producer Geoffrey Mason; played by John Magaro, preparing for another day of Olympic coverage, its early and feels like a draggy day, until gunshots crackle over walkie talkies but nobody is sure if it was gunshots, I mean this is a never ever saw situation before so who would imagine. Inside minutes the crew knows that they are sitting on the biggest news story of the decade and this is when Roone Arledge; played by Peter Sarsgaard, the network’s slick executive, wants the story under Sports’ control, not handed over to News. Close to 17 hour adrenaline rush of making decisions, smuggling cameras into restricted zones, translating German police radio and debating whether or not to air unverified reports.

It was not only the lives of the hostages what was at risk, but the ethics of live broadcasting life or death to 900 million viewers, its like watching a game at a stadium with all eyes on you and then in the very center of the field someone points a gun to a hostage in close contact. Not only what to show or not in live broadcast but also how and what to say? are they militants? guerillas? terrorist? the hole debate comes up within the crew that makes the movie even funny because they have no idea what they getting into.
To make things even worst, at their effort to cover the entire story, ABC Sports was transmitting life to the apartment where the hostage were, meaning the terrorist were also watching and this is why the first rescue attempt failed, this situations falls into one of those epic fail trending videos. Remember that time when ABC Sports basically told the terrorist they were going to be taken by surprise??. This entire drama cause the German Police to take the studio by force for a brief moment, this get way much worst when they lie about the hostages been rescued and everyone safe, I say lie because this was not confirm by anyone on the ground during the movie. Remember this is a movie "based" on real live events, although there is a lot that is going to be modified for entertaining purposes.
The movie does a great job with the 70s vibes, takes you to a tour of what was film making back in the day, from loading film canisters, how to frame a shot of a balcony, how limited cameras were, by the end of the movie you feel like film making was the profession that actually invented DIY stuff with every trick they come up during the movie.
SourceJohn Magaro sells the hell out of Geoffrey’s guilt, slumping against a wall like he’s been punched, he was the one basically at the wheel of the ship, its obvious he would feel he gave false hope to the many families around the world, he is the MVP here. He’s Geoffrey, sweating through his collared shirt like a man who is recently become aware that he is in way over his head, all nervous energy and full of moral conflicts. His performance is raw, like the way he barks orders of his team as his hands tremble, making you feel every ounce of his panic. Meanwhile, Peter Sarsgaard is Roone Arledge in full swagger of the corporate shark who is at once visionary and opportunist. It’s a masterclass in “the world is on fire but I'm cool” type of meme, as he casually lights a cigarette mid argument with ABC higher ups on the line and he about to broadcast what could end up in a massacre but its all about the rating and the amount of pair of eyeballs he can get the attention.
I really enjoy this movie as it serve as a tribute to the uselessness of the crew’s efforts, its the perfect representation of an Epic Fail meme transform into a movie. Sadly I think it is not the case of how it was announce during their marketing campaign and this might misguide certain part of the audience. The other side of it is that the movie kind of punts on its own themes, it avoids critiquing the system it try to describe so meticulously by refusing to show the aftermath the network, it would have been more interesting of what happens or what others think about the ABC Sports coverage, if back then people also though it was a disaster?. By no means I'm trying to pretend journalism is a black and white job although "don't trust, verify", that's where things got messy.
September 5 in my opinion has this technical perfection when it comes to strongly grasp the 70s vibe and how equipment works and its limitations back then, packed with some great performances. But I think this is the type of situations most of the time driven by politics and bureaucracy from higher ranks within the network, instead there was none and for that makes the movie feel weightless, like a documentary with no drama, yes this was not intention to be a documentary but it was the intention to add drama and keep people interested, it really felt lightweight on that department with no real pressure to the crew into following directions and then been the rebels. I have it at 7.5/10 ,love the craft, wish it had more back and forward.
