Released in 1984 and written and directed by Wes Craven, A Nightmare on Elm Street changed horror in a major way. Slasher films already existed, but Craven brought something different by blending supernatural horror with the everyday terror of not being able to trust your own mind. The idea that if you die in your dreams, you die in real life, is still one of the best horror concepts ever created.
The plot follows a group of teenagers in the quiet suburban town of Springwood who begin having terrifying nightmares about a burned man wearing a striped sweater, a fedora, and a glove with razor sharp blades. That man is Freddy Krueger, and once he enters their dreams, there is no easy escape.
Robert Englund created one of the most iconic horror villains of all time with Freddy. What makes him stand out is that he is not just a silent killer. Freddy talks, taunts, and enjoys the fear he creates. Englund gives him personality, making him far more memorable than many slasher villains of the era.
Heather Langenkamp plays Nancy Thompson, and she is one of the strongest final girls in horror history. Nancy is not just reacting to terror. She studies it, fights back, and refuses to accept helplessness. Langenkamp gives the role intelligence and determination, making her the emotional center of the film.
John Saxon and Ronee Blakley play Nancy’s parents, representing the adults who either do not understand or are hiding more than they admit. Their presence adds another layer because the story is also about the sins of the previous generation creating danger for the next.

The dream sequences are where the film really shines. Craven uses practical effects, surreal imagery, and unsettling transitions between reality and dreams to keep the audience off balance. You never fully know what is real, and that uncertainty creates real tension.
Charles Bernstein’s score also deserves praise because it adds a constant sense of dread without overwhelming the scenes. The music feels eerie and hypnotic, fitting perfectly with the dreamlike horror of the story.
What makes A Nightmare on Elm Street so strong is that the concept itself is universal. Everyone has had a nightmare. Everyone understands the fear of being trapped in sleep. Craven turned that into something cinematic and unforgettable.
The film also has a deeper theme about guilt and consequences. Freddy is not random. He is connected to the hidden actions of the adults in the town, and that history shapes everything. It gives the story more weight than just a body count.

The film begins by showing us a guy wearing a red long-sleeved T-shirt assembling what appears to be a leather glove with a kind of blade on each finger. Later, we see a girl wandering around what appears to be a room with boilers around her while listening to a horrible noise of blades slashing the iron pipes. Terrified, she tries to escape from what appears to be the guy with the knife glove, who also wears a hat and has a completely disfigured face. When he finally catches her, the girl wakes up from what seemed to be a simple nightmare all along. However, on her way to school, she learns that she is not the only one who had a horrible nightmare last night and asks her best friend to keep her company so they can sleep together at her house that night.

When talking about horror, Halloween, and those kinds of things, it's easy to think of this movie and its iconic antagonist, Freddy Krueger, a character who has caused both terror and amusement for more than one generation. This film was a total success both at the box office and with critics in its day, something that sounds surreal today given the state of the horror genre. Personally, I admit that I have no memory of seeing this film when I was little. The oldest thing that comes to mind is the famous crossover they made called Freddy vs. Jason. From there, what I remember most is a remake of this great 80s classic made back in the 2010s.
So, the version of Freddy Krueger that I came to know as a preteen doesn't compare to this classic or original version of the iconic character. Honestly, I have nothing against either version, but I think what characterizes him quite well is the personality and dark humor that his creator gave him in this first installment. Let's remember that, in the 1980s, A Nightmare on Elm Street became a major reference point in the horror genre, but more so in the slasher subgenre that exploded in the last century (as well as at the beginning of this century). But not only that, it revolutionized the way horror movies were made by playing with the theme of dreams and how this can completely distort reality itself.

Cuando se habla de terror, Halloween y esas cosas es fácil pensar en esta película y en su icónico antagonista, Freddy Krueger, un personaje que ha causado tanto terror como diversión a más de una generación. Esta cinta fue un éxito total tanto en taquilla como para la crítica en su época, algo que al día de hoy suena surrealista por como son las cosas con el género del terror en la actualidad. En lo personal, admito que no tengo ningún recuerdo de haber visto esta cinta cuando era pequeño, lo más viejo que me llega a la mente es el famoso crossover que hicieron llamado Freddy vs Jason. A partir de allí, lo que más recuerdo es un remake de este gran clásico ochentero hecho por allá en los 2010.
Así que la versión de Freddy Krueger que llegué a conocer desde preadolescente no se compara con esta versión clásica u original del icónico personaje. Sinceramente no tengo nada en contra de ambas versiones, pero considero que lo que lo caracteriza bastante bien es la personalidad y el humor negro que le dió su creador en esta primera entrega. Recordemos que, para los años 80, A Nightmare on Elm Street se convirtió en un gran referente del género del terror, pero más del subgénero slasher que explotó bastante en el siglo pasado (como también al principios de este siglo). Pero no solo es eso, sino que llegó a revolucionar la forma de hacer películas de terror al jugar con el tema de los sueños y de cómo esto puede hacer que la misma realidad sea distorsionada por completo.
This is ultimately what fascinated critics, and personally, I find it interesting that, for that era, they knew how to handle such complex themes in such a unique and entertaining way. But let's not get confused, this is not a film that blows your mind with complicated plots. Let's remember that we are talking about a slasher film, the most clichéd and simplistic version of horror that has ever been seen in the history of cinema. That's why, perhaps, the film's creator and director decided to give this iconic antagonist a touch of humor and mischievous personality so as not to make this classic a blatant copy of other classic slashers such as Friday 13th and Halloween. And the theme of dreams also provides us with a variety of surreal scenes in this film.
In this regard, I think it was a masterful feat for Wes Craven to tackle the theme of dreams and the human mind. Creating a terrifying character who makes your worst nightmares come true while stalking you every time you fall asleep is something that would traumatize anyone, at least those of that era. Now the new generation has more than enough with the internet and mobile devices to distract them from reality and take away their dreams. But anyway, back to the film, another interesting detail about dreams is their connection to the real world. I think this is a double-edged sword that, I suppose, they knew how to exploit very well in sequels, remakes, and even crossovers of this same franchise.

Esto en definitiva fue lo que fascinó a la crítica y en lo personal es algo interesante que, para aquella época, supieran manejar este tipo de temas complejos de una forma tan única y a la vez entretenida. Pero no nos confundamos, no es una película que te haga volar la mente con tramas complicadas de seguir, recordemos que estamos hablando de un slasher, la versión más cliché y sencilla del terror que se ha llegado a conocer en la historia del cine. Es por eso que, tal vez, al mismo creador y director de la película se le ocurriera darle ese toque de humor y personalidad traviesa a este icónico antagonista para no hacer de este clásico una copia descarada de otros clásicos slashers como lo son Viernes 13 y Halloween. Y el tema de los sueños también da para ofrecernos una variedad de escenas surrealistas en esta película.
Con respecto a esto último, considero que fue una hazaña magistral para Wes Craven meterse con el tema de los sueños y la mente humana. El crear a un personaje aterrador que haga realidad tus peores pesadillas mientras te acecha cada vez que te duermes es algo que llegaría a traumar a cualquiera, al menos a los de aquella época. Ahora la nueva generación ya tiene más que suficiente con el internet y los dispositivos móviles para distraerse de la realidad y quitarles sus sueños. Pero bueno, volviendo a la película, otro detalle interesante con respecto a los sueños es su conexión con el mundo real. Considero que esto es un arma de doble filo que, supongo, supieron aprovechar muy bien en secuelas, remakes y hasta crossovers de esta misma franquicia.
Just imagine that you are going through a traumatic experience and that a certain person with a disfigured face, wearing a glove with razor blades on the fingers and a hat, is chasing you, stabbing you to death along the way. For a moment, you think it's just a dream, that none of it is real, but when you wake up, you realize that every wound and everything you dreamed about still feels real. What is the difference between dreams and reality? How can we be sure that what we are experiencing is just a bad dream from which we can never wake up? Many of us might wish that what we are experiencing were just a bad dream, but at least we don't have a psychopath and child murderer hunting us down every night.
Returning to the main topic, another detail I liked about the film was the ways in which each of Freddy Krueger's victims is killed. I think that's what stands out the most and what people who have seen this classic since it was released in theaters remember the most. And how could they not, with such graphic and blood-filled scenes? At least two of these scenes are literally a recreation of the very definition of gore. It also has its jump-scares, screams, and moments of tension like any horror classic, but the most interesting thing of all is the way Freddy plays with his victims and transcends from the world of dreams to the real world at the expense of these young people we meet in this film.

Por un momento piensas que solo es un sueño, que nada de lo que sucede es real, pero al despertar te das cuenta de que cada herida o cada cosa que soñaste lo sientes aún en la vida real. ¿Qué es lo que diferencia los sueños de la realidad? ¿Cómo estar seguros de que lo que vivimos es solo un mal sueño del que nunca podremos despertar? Muchos quizá quisiéramos que lo que vivimos sea un mal sueño, pero al menos no tenemos a un psicópata y asesino de niños haciéndonos cacería cada noche.
Regresando al tema principal, otro detalle que me gustó de la película fueron las maneras en las que cada víctima de Freddy Krueger es asesinada. Creo que es lo que más se destaca y lo que más recuerda la gente que ha visto este clásico desde que se estrenó en cines. Y cómo no hacerlo con tales escenas gráficas y repletas de sangre. Al menos dos de dichas escenas son literalmente una recreación de la misma definición del gore. También tiene sus jumpscares, gritos y momentos de tensión como cualquier clásico de terror, pero lo más interesante de todo es la forma en la que Freddy juega con sus víctimas y trasciende del mundo de los sueños al mundo real a costa de estos jóvenes que conocemos en esta película.
But not everything is rosy or crimson red for this film, as there are certain things that I don't really like. For starters, I don't know if it's because of the difference in eras or cultures, but some of Freddy's jokes in this film are literally absurd to the point of absurdity. I don't know if it was scary or terrifying at the time, but personally, the "look how I cut my fingers" bit is just stupid. I don't know, it's like watching a horror satire rather than a classic in itself. Also, the part about his origin and the lack of development given to the antagonist doesn't quite convince me. There's even a moment in the movie where I felt partially disappointed to see Freddy lose in such a pathetic way, but his final scene changed my mind.
We also have the typical slasher movie clichés, such as the secondary characters who are always there until they disappear or do nothing useful when it's most needed. Or those chase scenes that are just absurd, to be honest. The good thing about this movie is that it's very short, only an hour and a half, which means you don't have to suffer through these clichés for very long. As for the cast, I don't have anything in particular to say, except that they did a good job, especially Johnny Depp as the typical cool guy of the 80s. The actor who plays Freddy isn't bad either; he fulfills the role of the typical antagonist of any slasher movie, but with the supernatural power to manipulate things and even his own body.

Pero no todo es color de rosas o rojo carmesí para esta película, ya que hay ciertas cosas que no me terminan de agradar. Para empezar, no sé si es por la diferencia de épocas o de culturas, pero algunos de los chistes que Freddy hace en esta película son, literalmente, absurdos hasta más no poder. No sé si dió miedo o terror en su momento, pero en lo personal el “mira como me corto los dedos” es algo estúpido. No sé, es como ver una sátira del terror más que un clásico en sí. También que la parte de su origen y el poco desarrollo que le dan al antagonista como que no me termina de convencer. Incluso hay un momento en la película en la que me sentí parcialmente decepcionado al ver a Freddy perder de una forma tan patética, pero su escena final me hizo cambiar de opinión.
También tenemos los típicos clichés de los slasher como lo son los personajes secundarios que siempre están hasta que desaparecen o no hacen nada útil en el momento más necesario. O esas escenas de persecución que son simplemente absurdas, la verdad. Lo bueno de esta película es que dura muy poco, solo hora y media, lo cual significa que no hay que sufrir tanto de este tipo de clichés por un largo tiempo. En cuanto al elenco de actores no tengo nada que opinar en especial, solo admito que hicieron un buen trabajo, sobre todo Johnny Deep como el típico chico cool de los 80. El actor que hace de Freddy tampoco lo hace mal, cumple con ser el típico antagonista de cualquier slasher, pero con el poder sobrenatural de manipular las cosas y hasta su propio cuerpo.
To be honest, I don't think this movie scared me per se. I repeat, for the time it was released, it's not bad at all, and its story is quite creative compared to other slasher movies. But something about the antagonist and what he represents doesn't really scare me or anything like that. Maybe it's because of his humor or personality, or maybe it's because I was more traumatized by the 2010 remake, which literally features a pedophile, rapist, and psychopathic killer with supernatural powers. I don't know, I think that with everything I've seen in the genre since I was a kid, I feel like I've become pretty desensitized to horror. As I said before, I see this 80s film more as a satire of the genre than a classic in itself, imagine that.
Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this film. For a budget of only a million dollars, I admit that it's very well made, to be honest. The use of practical effects, as well as the makeup, photography style, and recreations are particularly noteworthy. The same goes for its neutral color palette, the good use of light and shadow, and the absurd amount of fake blood and somewhat grotesque details for a simple slasher film. Sure, it's fine for the time, but watching this film with those effects today is almost funny. Just remembering some scenes where these practical effects are quite noticeable and how simple they look makes me laugh. Anyway, this horror classic is perfect for all lovers of the genre and especially of the golden age of the 80s.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of the supernatural horror genre.

Para ser honesto, no considero que esta película me haya dado miedo en sí. Repito, para la época en la que se estrenó no está nada mal y es bastante creativa su historia en comparación con otros slashers. Pero algo del antagonista y de lo que representa no me termina de causar pavor ni nada por el estilo. Tal vez y sea por su humor o personalidad, tal vez y sea porque me traumó más la versión del remake del 2010 que es literalmente un pedófilo,violador y asesino psicópata con poderes sobrenaturales. No sé, creo que con todo lo que he visto del género desde pequeño y hasta ahora siento que me he insensibilizado bastante con lo que respecta al terror. Como ya les dije antes, esta cinta ochentera la veo más como una sátira al género que un clásico en sí, imagínense.
Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos del apartado audiovisual de esta película. Para tener un presupuesto de tan solo un millón de dólares, admito que está muy bien hecha, la verdad. Tanto el uso de los efectos prácticos como también el maquillaje y el estilo de fotografías y recreaciones son de lo más destacable. Lo mismo sucede con su paleta de colores neutros, el buen uso de luces y sombras y la cantidad absurda de sangre falsa y detalles un tanto grotescos para ser un simple slasher. Claro, para la época está bien, pero actualmente ver esta película con dichos efectos es hasta gracioso. Tan solo el recordar algunas escenas donde se notan bastante dichos efectos prácticos y lo simples que se ven me dan risa incluso. En fin, este clásico del terror es perfecto para todo amante del género y más de la época dorada de los 80.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género del terror sobrenatural.

A while back, I started looking for information on Johnny Depp's most exciting and, perhaps, heartwarming films, with the goal of gathering content for a new film release. I found a film that, although I am not a big fan of the genre, I found it interesting for constructive criticism and an in-depth exploration of the theme it develops.The film is titled Nightmare on Elm Street and was considered Johnny Depp's debut in 1984.
The film was directed by Wes Graven and starred Robert Englud (Freddy Cruger) and Johnny Depp (Glen Lanz). The plot revolves around a group of friends who begin to have horrible nightmares in which a deformed creature with claws stalks and chases them throughout the city. But the most terrifying thing is that each night these dreams reach a level of realism that, for those of us who saw the film for the first time, will find it hard to forget every single moment of the shoot.
Personally, and because I'm not a big fan of this genre, I found the film to be unsettling and full of expectations. It's worth noting that, although the year of its production and release wasn't exactly great in terms of special effects, there was always something striking about it that makes it stick in our memories to this day.
On the other hand, Depp and Glun's performances were quite convincing and memorable, even making the villain of the installment and Depp stay on the screen for another season in spaces that hold a special memory in our memories. For Depp it was his biggest debut and for Glun a prelude to spaces aimed at a brave audience.
Although I'm a bit scared, I admit that the mere fact that Depp appears in the film made me enjoy it on more than one occasion and lose my fear of Freddy Gruger, who dominated us for a long time in the seventh art.

Hace un tiempo, empecé a buscar información sobre las películas más emocionantes y, quizás, conmovedoras de Johnny Depp, con el objetivo de recopilar contenido para un nuevo estreno. Encontré una película que, aunque no soy un gran fan del género, me pareció interesante por su crítica constructiva y por explorar a fondo la temática que desarrolla. La película se titula Pesadilla en Elm Street y fue considerada el debut de Johnny Depp en 1984.
La película fue dirigida por Wes Graven y protagonizada por Robert Englud (Freddy Cruger) y Johnny Depp (Glen Lanz). La trama gira en torno a un grupo de amigos que comienzan a tener horribles pesadillas en las que una criatura deforme con garras los acecha y persigue por toda la ciudad. Pero lo más aterrador es que cada noche estos sueños alcanzan un nivel de realismo que, para quienes vimos la película por primera vez, será difícil olvidar cada momento del rodaje.
Personalmente, y como no soy una gran aficionada a este género, la película me resultó inquietante y llena de expectativas. Cabe destacar que, aunque el año de su producción y estreno no fue precisamente excelente en cuanto a efectos especiales, siempre tuvo algo impactante que la ha marcado hasta el día de hoy.
Por otro lado, las actuaciones de Depp y Glun fueron bastante convincentes y memorables, logrando incluso que el villano de la entrega y Depp permanecieran en pantalla una temporada más en espacios que guardan un recuerdo especial en nuestra memoria. Para Depp fue su gran debut y para Glun, un preludio a espacios dirigidos a un público valiente.
Aunque me da un poco de miedo, admito que el solo hecho de que Depp aparezca en la película me hizo disfrutarla en más de una ocasión y perderle el miedo a Freddy Gruger, quien nos dominó durante mucho tiempo en el séptimo arte.

A Nightmare On Elm Street es una película de terror estadounidense lanzada en 1984, dirigida por Wes Craven y esta protagonizada por Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Robert Englund y Johnny Depp, esta película nos muestra a un misterioso hombre que acecha a un grupo de adolescentes en sus sueños asesinándolos en la vida real, por lo que Nancy intenta averiguar quien es esta persona misteriosa y busca la forma de acabar con el. Ya habiendo dado un poco de contexto ahora si comencemos!
Primero siempre me gusta empezar hablando de lo que las me encanto y en esta caso sin duda es la estética en sí y es que a mi actualmente me parece fascinante ver películas antiguas, porque son visualmente bastante atractivas e interesantes, por lo que también me llama la atención el ver como eran las producciones de las películas viejas, se que no es algo único de A Nightmare On Elm Street pero pues es algo que me sucede con la mayoría de clásicos de este estilo.
Otro aspecto que me engancho bastante fue la historia en sí y es que aunque es una película de terror también está cargada de misterio, ademas ver como nancy afronta la situación y decide ella misma buscar las respuestas por su propia cuenta, entonces aparte de que la historia de por si es interesante también está contada de una forma que logra atraparnos.
Un punto que toca esta película en todo momento y que me parece bastante destacable es el como a veces minimizamos lo que los niños (o adolescentes en este caso) le dicen a los adultos, restándole importancia y haciendo que no lo tomemos en serio, y comúnmente en la película vemos como esto es un gran error, porque debido a esta actitud le cuesta la vida a algunos personajes.
Me sorprendió mucho ver una película de terror vieja porque si se nota una diferencia abismal en dirección, estética y ambiente con producciones actuales y no lo digo como algo bueno o algo malo, solo que me llama la atención que en su momento capaz fue una gran película de terror pero ahorita no se siente tan fuerte, así que me parece interesante tener una guía de como a avanzado el cine en si.
Realmente no conocía mucho sobre esta seria de película pero ya después de haber visto estas me interesó mucho estas películas y me gustaría verlas las siguientes, a ver si tienen relación o no y ver cómo van adaptando este mismo concepto película tras película.
En conclusión me pareció una película bastante buena, sinceramente me senté a verla sin muchas expectativas y realmente la disfruté y por eso la terminé de ver, ademas es una película relativamente corta así que no es muy pesada de ver. Hello hive, today I come to talk about a pretty old movie that had always caught my attention and these days my dad told me to watch it so I took the opportunity to finally take a look at it, so for this reason is that today I come to talk about A Nightmare On Elm Street.
A Nightmare On Elm Street is an American horror film released in 1984, directed by Wes Craven and starring Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Robert Englund and Johnny Depp, this film shows us a mysterious man who stalks a group of teenagers in their dreams killing them in real life, so Nancy tries to find out who is this mysterious person and seeks a way to kill him. Having given a little context, now let's get started!
First I always like to start talking about what I love and in this case it is certainly the aesthetics itself and is that I currently find it fascinating to watch old movies, because they are visually quite attractive and interesting, so it also draws my attention to see how were the productions of old movies, I know it's not something unique to A Nightmare On Elm Street but it is something that happens to me with most of the classics of this style.
Another aspect that hooked me a lot was the story itself and although it is a horror movie it is also full of mystery, also see how Nancy faces the situation and decides to look for the answers on her own, so apart from the fact that the story itself is interesting it is also told in a way that manages to catch us.
A point that touches this film at all times and that I find quite remarkable is how sometimes we minimize what children (or teenagers in this case) say to adults, downplaying its importance and making us not to take it seriously, and commonly in the film we see how this is a big mistake, because due to this attitude it costs the lives of some characters.
I was very surprised to see an old horror movie because there is an abysmal difference in direction, aesthetics and atmosphere with current productions and I do not say it as something good or something bad, just that it calls my attention that at the time it was a great horror movie but now it does not feel so strong, so I find it interesting to have a guide to how the film itself has advanced.
I really didn't know much about this kind of movies but after having seen these ones I was very interested in these movies and I would like to see the next ones, to see if they are related or not and to see how they adapt this same concept film after film.
In conclusion I thought it was a pretty good movie, honestly I sat down to watch it without many expectations and I really enjoyed it and that's why I finished watching it, besides it's a relatively short movie so it's not too heavy to watch. So if for some reason you are in a situation like the one I was in and you have never seen this movie I definitely recommend you to take a look at it, first because the story is pretty good and second because always this kind of old movies are very visually engaging, so... totally recommended!
Hace días me dormí con los ojos abiertos, una sensación bastante extraña que no fue para nada incomoda, solo fue irregular porque nunca me había pasado.
Estaba acostado boca arriba y pude tanto escuchar a mi mama, así como verla pero mi mente estaba en el mundo de los sueños y recuerdo claramente como pensé en esa reacción que tendría mi mama al verme así, mi subconsciente quería jugar hasta que llego un punto que mi cerebro reacciono y salió de ese estado de suspensión por decirlo así y a mi mismo me dije estoy dormido, en ese momento desperté y le dije a mi mama que todo estaba bien porque ella estaba preocupada, tal vez así ven los muertos durante los primeros minutos de su fallecimiento.
Nuestros cerebros tienen comportamientos extraños como el que acabo de relatar y uno de ellos es las pesadillas, se supone que el dormir sirve para revitalizar el cuerpo y recuperarse pero en su funcionamiento muy análogo como el de una computadora que esta en estado suspendido, nuestro cerebro sigue trabajando en una fase subconsciente y es donde sale a relucir lo que pienso es nuestra alma.
Days ago I fell asleep with my eyes open, a very strange sensation that was not uncomfortable at all, it was just irregular because it had never happened to me before.
I was lying on my back and I could hear my mother as well as see her but my mind was in the world of dreams and I remember clearly how I thought about that reaction that my mother would have when she saw me like that, my subconscious wanted to play until I reached a point that my brain reacted and came out of that state of suspension so to speak and I told myself I am asleep, at that moment I woke up and told my mother that everything was fine because she was worried, maybe that's how the dead see during the first minutes of their death.
Our brains have strange behaviors like the one I have just described and one of them is nightmares, it is assumed that sleep serves to revitalize the body and recover but in its operation very similar to that of a computer that is in a suspended state, our brain is still working in a subconscious phase and that is where what I think is our soul comes to light.
Dormir permite la recuperación del cuerpo y durante este proceso se sueña pero las pesadillas torturan el alma no dejando muchas veces descansar el cuerpo, es en este punto donde pienso que objetivo tienen, por que existen, el cerebro puede ser una maquina muy cruel o tal vez no es eso, si no nuestra conciencia la que martilla constantemente con imágenes que nos crea desesperación.
Hay cosas que no conocemos pero eso no quiere decir que no existan, por ejemplo hace más de siete mil años no se conocía la existencia del átomo y ahora miren todo lo que podemos hacer con ese conocimiento, de manera similar debe suceder con las pesadillas, ellas quieren transmitir algo de eso que aun no podemos demostrar pero está presente, el alma.
Para analizar esto lo planteare desde dos puntos de vista, el consciente y el subconsciente, pienso este es el camino correcto para poder dar mi opinión porque en sí no existe certeza en la razón de ser de las pesadillas.
Sleeping allows the recovery of the body and during this process we dream but nightmares torture the soul not letting many times the body rest, it is at this point where I think that they have objective, because they exist, the brain can be a very cruel machine or maybe it is not that, but our conscience that constantly hammers us with images that create despair.
There are things that we do not know but that does not mean that they do not exist, for example more than seven thousand years ago the existence of the atom was not known and now look at everything we can do with that knowledge, similarly it must happen with the nightmares, they want to transmit something of that which we still cannot demonstrate but it is present, the soul.
To analyze this I will approach it from two points of view, the conscious and the subconscious, I think this is the right way to be able to give my opinion because in itself there is no certainty in the reason of being of the nightmares.
Este es el punto más fácil de tratar, es lo que vivimos cuando no estamos dormidos, esto si lo podemos dominar totalmente, es como el mover las manos, como caminar, nuestro cerebro da las ordenes que si queremos de y el cuerpo reacciona a esto y lo hace PERO es donde nacen las pesadillas.
Los sueños y las pesadillas van muy asociadas a lo que hicimos en nuestras vidas y aunque racionalmente no les demos mucha importancia a algunos eventos, en nuestro cerebro quedo esa información la cual va a tratar de analizar y resolver en el mundo de los sueños y si hicimos algo que no es correcto en vida, nuestra alma, lo volverá oscuridad.
Subconsciente:
Es en esta fase donde se ejecutan las pesadillas por lo que pienso son dos razones, las emociones y eventos inexplicables que inclusive caen en lo paranormal
Al subconsciente se le puede llamar conciencia así como pienso también se le puede decir Alma, por eso todas esas emociones se transforman en imágenes que pueden torturar a una persona, por ejemplo la culpa es uno de los eventos que más generan pesadillas y aunque sean imágenes muy abstractas y difíciles de entender, muchos saben que cuando tienen pesadillas es porque algo hicieron mal.
Conscious:
This is the easiest point to treat, it is what we live when we are not asleep, this if we can totally dominate it, it is like moving the hands, like walking, our brain gives the orders that if we want to and the body reacts to this and it does it BUT it is where the nightmares are born.
Dreams and nightmares are closely associated with what we did in our lives and although rationally we do not give much importance to some events, in our brain is left that information which will try to analyze and resolve in the dream world and if we did something that is not correct in life, our soul, will turn it into darkness.
Subconsciousness.
It is in this phase where nightmares are executed for what I think are two reasons, emotions and unexplainable events that even fall into the paranormal.
The subconscious can be called conscience as well as I think it can also be called Soul, that is why all those emotions are transformed into images that can torture a person, for example guilt is one of the events that most generate nightmares and although they are very abstract and difficult to understand images, many know that when they have nightmares is because they did something wrong.
El ser humano por naturaleza es emociones y cuando tratamos de dominarlas pero se desbordan, terminan en pesadillas como por ejemplo la muerte de algún familiar o amigo con el que no se resolvieron asuntos, cuando tratamos a algún ser querido mal ya sea humano o animal, esos pensamientos quedan y el más importante de todos, cuando nos maltratamos a nosotros mismos, este último pienso es él que más afecta y la conciencia no dudara en ser un verdugo muy cruel en las pesadillas.
Ahora en el aspecto eventos inexplicables es donde las cosas pasan a ser plenamente misteriosas y raras como por ejemplo ver gente muerta o gente que morirá a futuro, ver eventos que sucederán, ver situaciones pasadas que son momentos que se perciben como dejavu, ver otros tipos de seres, escapes del alma fuera del cuerpo, etc.
Es en este punto donde aplica más el concepto alma y salimos de lo conservador que es la ciencia porque hay muchas personas que sufren o viven este tipo de eventos, he leído distintos artículos justo en esta misma comunidad de mi amiga @avdesing y leer como sus sueños son otra cosa que no podemos explicar es lo que más me ha llamado la atención porque claro no he vivido eso y el escuchar esas experiencias cautiva, crea curiosidad por saber que pasa.
En esta parte lo veo como un grito desesperado de esas almas que van a morir pero si es inevitable entonces porque existen las premoniciones, esas pesadillas que torturan a muchas personas que no pueden hacer nada ante lo que sucederá.
Independientemente de lo anterior, en mi mente pasa a llamar mi atención es la conexión, personas que inclusive siendo desconocidas y nunca haberse visto, se puede soñar con ellas, esto esta fuera de lógica y se escapa totalmente del aspecto emociones más el hecho de que las pesadillas tienen su elemento primera persona y tercera persona, me pregunto porque somos capaces de soñar así, deberíamos soñar es en primera persona, es lo racional porque es nuestra condición natural.
El cerebro juega pero el alma pienso es mucho más traviesa porque es capaz de ir a cosas mas allá de lo que podemos explicar, pienso esto es real porque de alguna manera solo el hecho de soñar ya es algo extraño porque vuelvo al propósito físico, dormir es para que se recupere el cuerpo y solo eso.

The human being by nature is emotions and when we try to dominate them but they overflow, they end up in nightmares such as the death of a family member or friend with whom we did not resolve issues, when we treat a loved one badly whether human or animal, those thoughts remain and the most important of all, when we mistreat ourselves, this last thought is the one that affects the most and the conscience will not hesitate to be a very cruel executioner in nightmares.
Now in the inexplicable events aspect is where things become fully mysterious and strange as for example seeing dead people or people that will die in the future, seeing events that will happen, seeing past situations that are moments that are perceived as dejavu, seeing other types of beings, escapes of the soul out of the body, etc.
It is at this point where the soul concept applies more and we leave the conservative that is science because there are many people who suffer or live this kind of events, I have read different articles just in this same community of my friend @avdesing and read how her dreams are something else that we can not explain is what has caught my attention because of course I have not lived that and listening to these experiences captivates, creates curiosity to know what happens.
In this part I see it as a desperate cry of those souls that are going to die but if it is inevitable then why premonitions exist, those nightmares that torture many people who can not do anything about what will happen.
Regardless of the above, in my mind happens to draw my attention is the connection, people that even being unknown and never having seen, you can dream of them, this is out of logic and totally escapes the aspect emotions plus the fact that nightmares have their element first person and third person, I wonder why we are able to dream like that, we should dream is in the first person, it is rational because it is our natural condition.
The brain plays but the soul I think is much more mischievous because it is able to go to things beyond what we can explain, I think this is real because somehow just the fact of dreaming is already something strange because I return to the physical purpose, sleep is for the body to recover and only that.

When i was a kid, films were transitioning from reel-to-reel to VHS. Today this is difficult to imagine i am sure but there was a time when being able to watch something on a tape was pretty incredible. It was something that was almost unbelievable at the time and it was an unusual time to be alive, but i was alive when it was happening.
During those times it would take a long period of time between when movies were in cinemas and when they would finally make it to something you could rent or own in your house and because I was so young, a lot of these things were off limits to me
At the time i thought my parents were assholes for not allowing me to see these movies but later I would realize that, like a lot of things in life, they were correct because the films the didn't want me to see kind of screwed me up as a kid and one of those was A Nightmare on Elm Street
For those of you that are younger and have always had streaming services and the internet, this might be difficult to comprehend, but when i was a little kid the only way you were going to see these things was if a friend of yours happened to have it on VHS or something that most people these days don't even know about called Betamax, which was superior to VHS in every possible way.
I had a friend in my neighborhood that had a father who collected BM tapes. He had a massive library. One of them was A Nightmare on Elm Street and at 8 years old or so, I didn't realize at the time how traumatizing a film like this could be. It haunted me for many years after I watched it and I later came to the conclusion that my parents were actually correct in barring me from watching it.
While there were a lot of scary scenes in this film, especially for someone as young as I was, the one that really stuck in my mind and invaded my nightmares for a very long period of time was this one were a body bag was being drug through a school hallway... blood tracks and all.
As an 8 year old this was really scary even thought i look back on it and have watched it many times as a grown up and it seems relatively harmless.
Watch this now and it seems quite tame but it was really explicit given the time and I should have listened to my parents when they told me to not watch this and other films like it. I don't know if i was hoping for a boob scene - which was common in these same films - but it ended up traumatizing me for quite some time.
I think that was kind of the idea behind the Nightmare films and I'll tell ya, it worked. I was afraid to sleep for a long time after i watched this.
It actually took me years to recover from seeing this and i guess it was just a different time because these days, the Nightmare films are relatively tame. In the 80's though, it was crazy scary and it haunted me for years to follow.

Buenas tardes, siguiendo con la iniciativa de @wiseagent CineTV Contest: The Best Of Horror, presento mi participación esta semana, siendo el actor escogido Robert Englund y la película Pesadilla en la calle del infierno de 1984.
Durante mi infancia, y aún en mi adolescencia, por las noches siempre tenía una pesadilla recurrente: estaba en mi cama durmiendo y abría mis ojos, sentía un ambiente de pesadez que me inmovilizaba, intentabas gritar y no podía, las palabras no salían de mi garganta, de repente de la nada se comenzaba a abrir la puerta y esta comienza a verse translucida. Intuía la presencia de algo que no sé qué era, mi corazón comenzaba a latir muy fuertemente, la puerta se abría más y más y una sombra terrorífica comenzaba a aparecer, yo seguía con el grito ahogado en mi garganta y al terminar de abrirse la puerta de la habitación me despertaba sobresaltado con el corazón en mi boca, y gritando.
Curiosamente en el año 1984, (cuando ya tenía 16 años de edad), se estrena una película llamada Pesadilla en la Calle del Infierno, allí su protagonista Freddy Krueger, (cruel, malvado y siniestro) le aparecía en sueños a los adolescentes de un pueblo ficticio, (Springwood), en la ciudad de Ohio. Oníricamente, son aterrorizados, y en algunos casos mueren de las formas más bizarras posibles, a manos de Freddy Krueger y su guante de afiladas cuchillas. Salí muy alterado y asustado de ese cine porque en la película se planteaba a grandes rasgos lo mismo que sucedía en mis pesadillas, (claro, nunca identifiqué a la figura siniestra que me acosaba).
Este psicópata y asesino con rostro desfigurado viste una camisa de rayas verdes y rojas, usa un sombrero ajado y porta un guante derecho con cuchillas que el mismo afilo, opera exclusivamente en el mundo de los sueños, en donde es invulnerable.
No he podido borrar de mi mente la escena en la que Freddy, absorbe desde debajo de la cama al novio de la protagonista, (Johnny Deep en su primer papel para el cine), y después un chorro de sangre emana fuera del colchón. La ambientación en conjunto con la música que emitían unas niñas que saltaban una cuerda en cámara lenta y el sonido de las cuchillas, no son fáciles de olvidar.
Robert Englund asume la personalidad de Freddy, y lo recrea de una manera tan magistral que el espectador cree en él, y se asusta por su deseo de vengarse de los hijos de quienes lo quemaron vivo por el hecho de haber asesinado a más de 20 niños en Springwood.
En las secuelas, fue destrozado por las almas atrapadas dentro de él, explotado por una bomba de tubería y asado en un horno, sin embargo no se detenía ante esto .
En Pesadilla en la calle del infierno, aparece solo 7 minutos en pantalla y asusta mucho dado lo misterioso, inquietante y sugestivo que es el personaje. A través de su interpretación, hizo que mis sueños adolescentes fueran mil veces más terroríficos, el personaje incluso daba miedo a quienes no habían visto la película, todo esto ocurría por la fama y el renombre que iba adquiriendo el personaje, el cual presenta un sentido del humor muy negro, que se agudizaría en las siguientes secuelas.
Para mi Freddy es el monstruo de terror / horror icono de los años 80, en conjunto con Jason Vorhees. Lo ubico al nivel de Drácula, Frankenstein o el Hombre Lobo. Si se habla de un personaje relacionado con el género en los años 80 este sería el primero que me vendría a la cabeza. Englund hace que el personaje demuestre un carisma muy por encima de los demás personajes de la película.
Con esta caracterización logra abstraer al espectador de su realidad invitándolo a un mundo lúdico de horror, espantos, y tensiones, todo dentro de ese gran templo llamado sala de cine.
No faltaron imitaciones, mercancía relacionada con el personaje (disfraces, camisetas, posters, guantes con garras afilados y muñecos) e incluso una serie de televisión en la que Freddy Krueger, al estilo de Alfred Hitchcock presenta, era el anfitrión de la misma. Así de influyente en la cultura popular ha sido este personaje y al día de hoy todavía nos es imposible ver a otro actor que no sea Robert Englund en el papel de Freddy Krueger.
Han pasado 37 años desde que vi la película, eran otros tiempos y el público de un cine era mucho más fácil de asustar, era más impresionable. Sin embargo, me consta que para las nuevas generaciones Freddy aún es un personaje que asusta, sobre todo en su encarnación en la primera película.
Años después, me entero de la existencia de un trastorno en los sueños que hace que se produzca estrés en el cuerpo humano y como consecuencia se incrementa el ritmo cardíaco, lo cual puede conducir a la muerte.
Esta enfermedad presenta el alarmante nombre de Síndrome de Muerte Súbita Prematura. Wes Craven, director y creador del personaje basa en parte el personaje de Freddy Krueger en esta enfermedad, en artículos de prensa que reportaban la muerte de personas en el sureste de Asia mientras dormían, en una experiencia personal que vivió de pequeño cuando vio a un hombre borracho con un sombrero en la oscuridad el cual hizo contacto visual con él y lo asusto y como dato curioso en un compañero de estudio que le hacia la vida imposible en su Juventud cuyo nombre era: Fred Krueger.
En lo particular, aún relaciono a Freddy Krueger con esa entidad que me asustaba en sueños, y que fue desapareciendo de mis pesadillas a través de los años. Tal vez el mismo Freddy, a medida que fue protagonizando secuelas me ayudo a hacer catarsis y a exorcizar esos temores internos que veía reflejado en esas películas.

Good afternoon, following @wiseagent's CineTV Contest: The Best Of Horror, I present my participation this week, being the chosen actor Robert Englund and the 1984 film Nightmare On Elm Street.
During my childhood, and even in my adolescence, at night I always had a recurring nightmare: I was in my bed sleeping and I opened my eyes, I felt an atmosphere of heaviness that immobilized me, you tried to scream and could not, the words did not come out of my throat, suddenly out of nowhere began to open the door and it begins to look translucent. I sensed the presence of something that I do not know what it was, my heart began to beat very strongly, the door opened more and more and a terrifying shadow began to appear, I was still with the scream choked in my throat and when the door of the room opened I woke up startled with my heart in my mouth, and screaming.
Curiously in the year 1984, (when I was already 16 years old), a movie called Nightmare on Hell Street was released, there its protagonist Freddy Krueger, (cruel, evil and sinister) appeared in dreams to the teenagers of a fictional town, (Springwood), in the city of Ohio. In their dreams, they are terrorized, and in some cases die in the most bizarre ways possible, at the hands of Freddy Krueger and his razor-sharp glove. I came out of that theater very upset and frightened because the movie was posing roughly the same thing that was happening in my nightmares, (of course, I never identified the sinister figure that was stalking me).
This psychopath and murderer with a disfigured face wears a green and red striped shirt, wears a tattered hat and carries a right glove with blades that he sharpens himself, he operates exclusively in the dream world, where he is invulnerable.
I have not been able to erase from my mind the scene in which Freddy, from under the bed, sucks the boyfriend of the protagonist, (Johnny Deep in his first film role), and then a stream of blood emanates out of the mattress. The setting in conjunction with the music emitted by some girls jumping rope in slow motion and the sound of the blades, are not easy to forget.
Robert Englund takes on the persona of Freddy, and recreates him in such a masterful way that the viewer believes in him, and is frightened by his desire to take revenge on the children of those who burned him alive for the fact that he murdered more than 20 children in Springwood.
In the aftermath, he was torn apart by the souls trapped inside him, blown up by a pipe bomb and roasted in an oven, yet he would not stop at this .
In Nightmare on Elm Street, he appears only 7 minutes on screen and is very scary given how mysterious, disturbing and suggestive the character is. Through his interpretation, he made my teenage dreams a thousand times more terrifying, the character was even scary to those who had not seen the film, all this happened because of the fame and renown that the character was acquiring, which presents a very black sense of humor, which would be sharpened in the following sequels.
For me Freddy is the iconic horror/horror monster of the 80's, in conjunction with Jason Vorhees. I place him on the level of Dracula, Frankenstein or the Wolfman. If you talk about a character related to the genre in the 80's this would be the first one that would come to mind. Englund makes the character demonstrate a charisma far above the other characters in the film.
With this characterization he manages to abstract the spectator from his reality, inviting him to a playful world of horror, scares, and tensions, all within that great temple called movie theater.
There was no shortage of imitations, merchandise related to the character (costumes, T-shirts, posters, gloves with sharp claws and dolls) and even a television series in which Freddy Krueger, in the style of Alfred Hitchcock presents, was the host of the series. That's how influential in popular culture this character has been and to this day it is still impossible for us to see any actor other than Robert Englund in the role of Freddy Krueger.
It's been 37 years since I saw the film, those were other times and a movie theater audience was much easier to scare, it was more impressionable. However, I know that for the new generations Freddy is still a scary character, especially in his incarnation in the first film.
Years later, I learned of the existence of a dream disorder that causes stress in the human body and as a consequence increases the heart rate, which can lead to death.

Wes Craven, director and creator of the character based in part the character of Freddy Krueger in this disease, in newspaper articles reporting the death of people in Southeast Asia in their sleep, in a personal experience he had as a child when he saw a drunk man with a hat in the dark which made eye contact with him and scared him and as a curious fact in a fellow student who made life impossible in his youth whose name was: Fred Krueger.
In particular, I still relate Freddy Krueger with that entity that frightened me in my dreams, and that was disappearing from my nightmares over the years. Such Freddy himself, as he starred in sequels, helped me to catharsis and exorcise those inner fears that I saw reflected in those movies.

Cuando intentas hacer una buena película.
Nightmare on Elm Street de 2010 intenta ser una película, incluso esto es terriblemente difícil para él.
La película es una nueva visión de la película de 1984, cambiando mucho, pero también haciéndola innecesariamente extraña.
La película es muy confusa, los personajes se pierden y como espectadores nos preguntamos por el motivo (el motivo fue muy bien explicado en la parte original) Aquí tenemos un grupo de jóvenes (el casting de la película tendría que ser vergonzoso cuando se trata de elegir jóvenes para estudiantes de secundaria) que sueñan con un terrible caballero de garras.

This is just one of the reasons why I end up choosing a not so current production, but still valid, for its originality, for the theme and the uneasiness that it generated when I saw it, its many scenes that caused real nightmares; it was always broadcast at night, on national channels and it is practically a classic of terror, which lives up to its name: "Nightmare on Hell Street", Although its original name is: Nightmare on Elm Street.

Este es tan solo uno de los motivos, por los cuales termino escogiendo una producción no tan actual, pero aún con vigencia, por su originalidad, por el tema y la inquietud que me generaba al verla, sus tantas escenas que ocasionaban verdaderas pesadillas; siempre la transmitían por las noches, en los canales nacionales y es prácticamente un clásico del terror, que le hace honor a su nombre: “Pesadilla en la Calle del Infierno”, Aunque su nombre original es: Pesadilla en la Calle Elm.

In part 2, the film begins and ends with the yellow school bus scene, a classic and on that occasion it was referred to that the love between the kids was the only thing able to defeat Freddy's evil, but in the end, the villain takes control of the bus again. In the third installment, the kids avoided the villain, making him see his own reflection in a mirror; and in the fourth, burying his bones and sprinkling holy water on them; but Krueger appeared again in another sequel, that is, the villain always got his way, leaving the scene open for a next installment, what days those hahaha.

En la parte I, la hermosa Nancy y sus amigos comienzan a compartir una misma pesadilla, pero todo cambia cuando se dan cuenta que al despertar, tienen las heridas del asesino en sus sueños, la trama toma fuerza cuando los padres de la chica confiesan conocerlo. Es en verdad una gran producción, entretenida y con sus toques chistosos, se tornaba interesante la incertidumbre por saber si el inicio o fin de cada pesadilla, o mientras veíamos el filme, imaginar las maneras para poder derrotar al espectro jajaja. Para mi sorpresa, la bella Nancy descubre que ignorando al asesino, se le podía vencer. En la parte 2 La película comienza y termina con la escena del autobús escolar de color amarillo, todo un clásico y en esa ocasión se hacía referencia a que el amor entre los chicos fue lo único capaz de vencer la maldad de Freddy, pero al final, el villano vuelve a tomar el control del autobús. En la tercera entrega, los jóvenes evitaron al villano, haciéndole ver su propio reflejo en un espejo; y en la cuarta, enterrando sus huesos y esparciéndoles agua bendita; pero Krueger aparecía nuevamente en otra secuela, es decir, siempre el villano se salía con la suya, dejando la escena abierta para una próxima entrega, que días aquellos jajaja.

The friend, at whose place I'm staying the last couple of days, caught the flu. And, because of that, he and I ended up watching a couple of movies and series on his beamer. Or should I say on his bedroom wall? The projection literally filled his whole wall and I felt like being in the front row of a cinema but then without popcorn and without people distracting me from my viewing experience.
Today, I will write about one of the films that we watched yesterday night, namely the 80s horror classic 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'.
The younger readers amongst you might now its director, Wes Craven, from the Scream movies (1996 to 2011). Those of you who are 30 or older - or interested in movies from last century - might now other classics by Craven, like The Hills Have Eyes (1977) or The People under the Stairs (1991). All of the aforementioned titles are very entertaining horror movies but - in the end - A Nightmare on Elm Street tops them all.
Here's my personal story surrounding this film:
I am pretty sure that I watched A Nightmare on Elm Street before the first Scream movie came out, pre 1996. But, I can't remember how old I was exactly. This is the little memory that I have of it though:
I must have been 9 or 10, when a somewhat older girl at school talked about this scary movie called A Nightmare on Elm Street. A movie about a guy with knives instead of hands, killing kids. I didn't even know what 'elm' meant back then. I asked my parents about it, who told me that it was a tree. Back then, I wasn't into horror yet. Something that changed a year or two later.
Long story short, the title intrigued me and the fact that an older girl from my school had already seen it, impressed me. I never forgot about it. It sounded like a perfect campfire story to scare kids.
Back to yesterday
While watching this film yesterday, my friend slept through part of the movie, as he wasn't feeling well at all. I checked on him a couple of times, to see if he was alright and not being killed in his sleep, like the characters in the movie. My eyes felt very heavy too and I had to shut them a couple of times, but never longer than a handful of seconds in a row. Luckily, both of us survived and made it through the end of the movie.
I must say that, even over 30 years since its release, the quality of its special effects are top notch! It has aged extremely well and I'm sure people can still enjoy this movie 30 years in the future
Let me conclude, by saying that this is one of my very favorite slashers and probably one of my top 10 horror films. Although I don't really have a top 10. I believe there are around 10 Nightmare on Elm Street movies by now and - while I have probably seen at least 5 or 6 of them - this first one easily beats them all.
