Good day, everyone. Today, I decided to start my day with a movie. One streaming platform I have not been using for a while is Prime Video. For some weird reason, I simply forget that there are some movies on that platform as well, because I barely use the platform, since I give all my attention to what is new on Netflix.
So it would not be bad to check out a movie on this platform. There were a couple of movies recommended to me by the platform, but the one that stood out for me was All the Old Knives starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton. Thandiwe Newton is the familiar, beautiful lady I have seen in a couple of movies, but I barely remember her name. Most times, I mistake her for Zoe Saldana, but trust me, they are two different humans. Chris Pine has a recognizable face and an easy name to remember. I have known him for a while from movies like Jack Ryan, Star Trek 4, and Dungeons and Dragons.
The movie is a spy thriller that focuses on these two character Celia and Henry. Talking about their past lives together, but most importantly, the events that led to the terrorist attack. These two are agents of the CIA, helping to keep certain secrets and diffuse intensed situation affecting national security and the well-being of the citizens in general. The terrorist attack that happened in the past is what brought these two past lovers back together when there was a need to tie up loose ends and discover who was the traitor in the house. You need to know that by the time I was done with the movie, it turned out not be only a spy movie but also an emotional one where certain crimes were committed out of love. A crime of passion.
The entire bowl of contention for the movie revolves around the failed hostage situation where the terrorist, led by a previous CI of the CIA agent who was later handed over to the Russians, took over a fully loaded aircraft and killed every passenger on the plane, including themselves. This incident left everybody with scars and PTSD that were hard to get over. Some left the agency, while others committed suicide since they could not live with their failures. Not prepared me for the movie's twist in the event, which is why I will call it a psychological thriller as well, because you are left guessing who could have been the in-house traitor that gave out information to the terrorists, which they used as a weapon in carrying out their attacks.
Years down the line, after the incidence Henry was brought back to the agency to investigate who it could be, which made him reunite with Ceila once again, after she left the agency to start a new life somewhere. One would think Ceila was hung up on the fact that the agency failed to protect those people, which is why she left, but that was not the case. She left because she could not fathom that somebody she had worked with could be responsible for such a devious act. Even at that, the nightmares from the attack still haunted her in her new life. She saw her children as victims in the nightmare.
I would advise you to check it out if you are a fan of psychological thrillers with a mixture of spy fiction.
