   Ma Dong-seok is fantastic and an amazing South Korean actor. He became one of my favorite actors when I saw ’Train to Busan (2016)’. I really enjoyed his performance in the movie. Ever since then, I started looking out for his movies, but the movie stream I use often hardly uploads his movies.

   However, I came across this movie when I was browsing through Netflix just to see which movie I can watch for the weekend and I didn't think twice about it. It's been a while since I have watch any movie of Ma Dong-seok, though I look forward to watch ’The Round Up (2022)’. I heard he is a badass character there.

   *’Badland Hunters (2024)’*is a South Korean dystopian action movie that was directed by Heo Myung-haeng (his directorial debut). The storyline revolves around the aftermaths of an earthquake in Seoul that turn the country into a lawless and inhospitable land where a hunter goes to rescue a teenage girl that was forcefully taken from his village by a mad scientist. The movie starred Ma Dong-seok, Lee Hee-joon, Lee Jun-young, and Roh Jeong-eui.

   The movie starts by introducing us to Nam-San, a relentless wasteland hunter, who with his friend Choi Ji-wan hunt, scavenge for foods and other basic amenities their village needs to stay alive in the post-apocalyptic Seoul as other survivors are living a hard life, dying from dehydration and lack of food.

   

   

   On the other hand, Dr. Yang Gi-su, a scientist who has been looking for every means possible to save his daughter from dying, was illegally experimenting with making humans immortal by creating a serum with teenager's pituitary gland and reptile DNA. This serum makes humans consume little food and water. Unfortunately the experiments began to fail when the teenagers used were dying. He needs more teenagers to fine tune the serum.

   

   

   

   So trouble came to Nam-San’s village when Su-na, a beautiful teenage girl, was kidnapped by Dr Yang's minions. Nam-San and his friend Choi Ji-wan go to rescue her with the help of a rogue Lieutenant who had worked under Dr Yang prior to the earthquake incident. Will they be successful? Will they save Su-na?

   My Review And Rating.

   Badland Hunters is a combination of a lot of familiar elements for a post apocalyptic adventure. It is a combination of Mad Max Fury and Pandora. Its plot and storyline was written well and the narrative and directorial style make the movie a brutal action and a surprisingly funny film.

   I enjoyed this movie, it was entertaining, funny, bloody, and gore at the same time. One thing I appreciate about this movie is that there was no nudity of any sort which is difficult to see in movies these days. Though I had problems with subtitles, I was still able to catch up.

   From the storyline, one would think this is a standalone film with a missing plot, but it is not. When I started watching the movie I was kind of confused at the beginning because I was wondering what was the cause of the earthquake in Seoul in the first place. How did it happen that in the aftermath the whole of Seoul became a wasteland? Then I discovered that there was a sequel after this movie.

   I love the scene arrangements, the cinematography was okay, the CGI and VFX was averagely okay. I wish the production team had invested more into the CGI and VFX to give the movie a superb outlook. The action stunts were absolutely amazing and thrilling to watch. It was bloody and brutal. The killings were also gore.

   The main actor, Dong Seok, was an amazing actor. His performance was entertaining. His jokes aligned well and the script earned me some laughs while I was watching the movie. His stunts were well performed. He was a killing machine and an unstoppable force. For the supporting cast, they all did well except for so few that pissed me and reminded me that I was watching a Korean.

   The villian on the other hand, was not really satisfactory to me because I felt his role / character should have been written well, his presence in the movie is more felt in the movie. Also, his character should have elicited stronger emotions from the audience. His role was subtle which shouldn't have been, regardless, he was a good villain who was selfish and ruthless.

   Rating this movie, I will give it 7.9 out of 10 stars. It was an interesting, thrilling and entertaining movie. I enjoyed it and it was worth my time. If you have a watch. Mad Max Fury and Pandora, you would also enjoy this movie. I don't like Korean movies but Korean movies with Dong Seok in it, count me in.

   An eccentric film that predictably depicts events or catalysts in a world where everything ends or ends quickly. Societies end up in the same position, when one evil emerges as the victor.

   Reference? None, but the best thing about this South Korean production is the change of scenes and rawness. I should make it clear from the outset that Badland Hunters is a predictable and entertaining film, but you won't necessarily remember it. Why? Simply put, there are scenes that you can imagine; however, this is not enough to tell you that it is not worth watching.

   This film is on the Netflix platform and is 1 hour and 47 minutes long. The plot is engaging enough to cause some intrigue and make you decide to stay in front of the screen until it's over.

   What is the plot? The film depicts an apocalyptic world where humanity has no access to clean drinking water. The setting of the film is South Korea. An earthquake wiped out everything, and the few survivors are unable to live a peaceful life. In addition, something strange happened after the natural phenomenon, and that is that most of the young people died.

   The above elements describe very well the scenario and the plot sequence presented in the film. A good guy and a bad guy. The bad guy controls a small group of human beings, and the good guys try to save them. Sorry, save someone who was kidnapped without her knowing they were monsters.

   Un film excéntrico que describe de manera predecible hechos o cataclismos en un mundo donde todo acaba o termina rápidamente. Las sociedades terminan en la misma posición, cuando un mal se perfila como el vencedor. >

   ¿Referencia? Ninguna, pero lo mejor de esta producción surcoreana, es ese cambio de escenas y crudeza. Debo aclarar desde el inicio que Badland Hunters es un film predecible y que entretiene, pero no necesariamente recordarás. ¿Por qué? Simplemente, hay escenas que te puedes imaginar; sin embargo, esto no es suficiente para decirte que no vale la pena verle.

   Ésta película se encuentra en la plataforma Netflix y dura 1 hora con 47 minutos. El argumento es lo suficiente atractivo para causar algo de intriga y hacerte decidir mantenerte frente a la pantalla hasta que termine.

   ¿Cuál es la trama? El film describe un mundo apocalíptico donde la humanidad no posee acceso al agua potable. El escenario del film es en Corea del Sur. Un terremoto arrasó con todo y los pocos sobrevivientes no tienen la capacidad de poder tener una vida tranquila. Además, algo extraño ocurrió luego de ese fenómeno natural y es que la mayoría de los jóvenes murieron.

   Los anteriores elementos describen muy bien el escenario y la secuencia argumentativa que se presenta en el film. Un bueno y un malo. El malo controla a un pequeño grupo de seres humanos y los buenos intentan salvarlos. Perdón, salvar a alguien que fue raptada sin que ella supiera que eran monstruos.

   I have always said that people who are described as the best can be the worst. Physique is not necessarily a factor in defining a person's criminal traits. That happens or happens in the film.

   Post-apocalyptic scenarios are very rarely exploited in the industry; usually, what we see is the lead-up to that event. That is, the acts that humanity does to avoid the end of the world. In this production, that is not the main focus.

   What surprised me about the film? The story doesn't describe exactly why the world came to an end, i.e., it doesn't explain why the earthquake happened. Something that also struck me as strange is that the government completely collapsed and there was no one in charge. Even if there is an institutional collapse, there will always be someone who assumes power because of some vestige of legitimacy. This film shows none of that.

   Siempre he dicho que las personas que describen ser las más buenas, pueden ser las más malas. El físico no es necesariamente un factor para definir los rasgos criminales de una persona. Eso pasa o sucede en la película.

   Los escenarios post-apocalípticos son muy poco explotados en la industria, por lo general lo que vemos es el previo a ese evento. Es decir, los actos que la humanidad hace para evitar el fin del mundo. En esta producción eso no es el enfoque principal.

   ¿Qué cosas me sorprendieron del film? En la historia no se describe porqué el mundo llegó a su final exactamente, o sea, no se fundamenta por qué ocurrió el terremoto. Algo que también me pareció extraño es que el gobierno cayera por completo y no hubiera nadie al mando. A pesar de que ocurra un colapso institucional, siempre habrá alguien que asuma el poder por algún vestigio de legitimidad. En este film no se muestra nada de eso.

   

   

   The plot is entertaining; it does not concentrate on the common elements that would occur after the destruction of the world, i.e., general chaos. The plot shows small, organized concentrations of people coming together in small, rustic spaces without any living comforts.

   In one of these places are the protagonists of the story, who want to rescue Han Su-na, played by actress No Jeong-ee.

   El argumento resulta entretenido; ya que no se concentra en los elementos comunes que ocurrirían luego de la destrucción del mundo; es decir, caos generalizado. En la trama se muestran pequeñas concentraciones humanas organizadas que se unen en pequeños espacios rústicos y sin ningún confort para poder vivir.

   En uno de esos lugares están los protagonistas de la historia que desean rescatar a Han Su-na papel que interpretó la actriz No Jeong-ee.

   Why do they have to rescue the protagonist of the film? It all happens because of the murder of the protagonist's grandmother by the people who took her away to a place where she would theoretically live better. That fact provoked Ma Dong-seok (Nam San) and Choi ji-wan (Lee Joon-young) to decide to rescue her.

   Somewhat surprising is the visual quality of the film. The murder and fight scenes are very raw. The cinematography and the camera focus on appreciating every detail in the smallest way. All visual images are combined with the natural sounds of bones breaking, gunshots and flesh cutting. It is extremely violent; some scenes may turn your stomach.

   At the same time, the plot shows how a scientist plunges into his madness to destroy and crush the weakest. The worst thing about this is that he uses human beings as tests and experimental subjects. Appalling!

   There were two things I didn't like about the film: the first was the idealization of the scientist who killed thousands of people to revive his daughter, and the second was the forced ending. These two considerations make the film less than perfect, and it remains only part of an entertaining production.

   Finally, I cannot overlook the film's message. Even though everything can be difficult, there will always be a ray of light and hope in the midst of the darkness. That comes through in the plot. I'll read you in the comments.

   ¿Por qué deben rescatar a la protagonista del film? Todo ocurre debido al asesinato de la abuela de la protagonista por las personas que se la llevaron a un lugar en donde teóricamente viviría mejor. Ese hecho provocó que Ma Dong-seok (Nam San) y Choi ji-wan (Lee Joon-young) decidieran rescatarla.

   Algo sorprendente es la calidad visual dentro del film. Las escenas de asesinato y peleas son muy crudas. La fotografía y el enfoque de la cámara aprecian de la manera más mínima cada detalle. Todas las imágenes visuales están combinadas con sonidos naturales de rompimiento de huesos, tiros y cortes de carne. Es extremadamente violenta, algunas escenas pueden revolver tu estómago.

   Al mismo tiempo, en la trama se muestra cómo un científico se sumerge en su locura para destruir y aplastar a los más débiles. Lo peor de esto es que utiliza a seres humanos como sujetos de prueba y de experimentación. ¡Aberrante!

   Hubo dos cosas que no me gustaron del film: la primera fue la idealización del científico que mató a miles de personas para revivir a su hija y la segunda fue el final forzado. Estas dos consideraciones hacen que el film no sea perfecto, y se quede solamente en la parte de una producción entretenida.

   Finalmente, no puedo dejar pasar el mensaje del film. A pesar de que todo puede ser difícil, siempre habrá un rayo de luz y esperanza en medio de la oscuridad. Eso se ve en la trama. Te leo en los comentarios.

Some like to watch action movies and some like to watch romantic movies. Some like to watch thriller-type movies. Action movies are always at the top of my list of favorites. If it is an action movie of any country, if I like its trailer, then I try to watch that movie. I saw the trailer of this movie and I liked it so I thought today I would watch this movie and today I will share something about this movie with my friends.

   Friends, Korean action movies are outstanding. Korean movies have action as well as story twists. Korean action movies always perform well and this movie is no exception.

   At the beginning of the movie, a boy is shown waiting for something with an arrow, then a huge crocodile comes towards him as the boy throws it at the crocodile. Even after the attack of the arrow, the crocodile came towards him, then immediately the main character of this movie, the hero, cut off the head of the crocodile with a big knife in his hand. The director started by showing a great action scene in the beginning. I liked the movie very much from the beginning.

Some people live in a village and they live their lives very hard. On the other hand, a scientist conducts his experiments with young children. Basically, that scientist worked in the main negative role of this movie. I like the story of this movie very much.

   A different excitement will work inside you from start to finish. The director has given me such a beautiful tourist scene that I like very much. Besides, the kind of action scene shown in this movie is really amazing. Not a single place I felt was lacking in this place. Besides, those who have worked in small or big roles in this movie have presented their work very well. Especially I would say the action director has done his job superbly.

   I like this movie very much. Those who have seen this movie will agree with me. And for those who have not seen this movie, if you have seen Korean movies, then you can watch this movie if you want.

   Netflix has become for me an inexhaustible source of non-American films, an escape from familiar Hollywood patterns. That's how i discovered Badland Hunters, also known under the original title Hwang-ya, a South Korean production with an exceptional protagonist: Ma Dong-seok.

   Ma Dong Seok is one of the Korean actors who has grown on me as a legit sportsman. I've severally noticed his boxing form in several Korean movies and at some point, I decided to do my research about the lad. It turns out that he's a legit striker with a very good boxing background.

   I'm not the biggest fan of what Koreans do with their movies. However, whenever I see a movie that casts Ma Dong Seok, I usually dive in because I know he's a big kick-ass and I enjoy his one-punch knockouts. Haha.

   In today's movie highlight, I'm presenting a Korean movie that was aired 3 days ago.

   Badland Hunters? For some reason, I genuinely read that as something similar to the popular Into The Badlands series. I know I'm a sucker for that show and I would surely get on board if Koreans decide to do their version of the show. Well, I got off my bubbles immediately I saw the main poster released by the show.

   This show introduces us to a dystopian era following an earthquake that transformed Seoul into a Badland of lawlessness. 3 years after that earthquake, the struggle for survival reached its peak. Of course, money was no longer relevant. Those who were still alive didn't have any use for money as a medium of exchange. Instead, trade by barter became the order of the day.

   Humans will survive anything, won't we?

   No money. No food. No decent shelter or healthcare facility. No water. Yeah, scarcity of water reached its climax and people were ready to kill to get a sip of water. As if that's not enough, a mad scientist started to inject people with stuff that heightens their regenerative ability. This means they get instant recovery from any injury and it only takes beheading to kill them.

   When I'm watching a Kdrama, I go all in and dig into the storyline, character development, pacing of the story, and whatnot.

   However, sometimes when I'm watching a Movie, I'm usually all about the action. The story doesn't have to make a lot of sense and that's exactly the case in this show. It's a typical "leave your brain behind" action movie with a lot of thrilling action scenes.

   If you are looking for a great storyline, I suggest you pass on this. But, if you are looking for a thrilling action show, this would be worth spending some time on.
