The Game Changer - Black Crab Film Review@olujay810d

Black Crab had been around for a long time when I finally watched it a few weeks ago. It never caught my eye, but it always showed up on Netflix's catalogue, and so I figured, why not? And now, having gone through it, I'd totally recommend it to certain people.

I'll be honest and say that I wasn't interested in watching a film about some woman who is so invincible that the film would turn out to be overly unrealistic for me. And that was my impression of Black Crab. I had seen many like that, and many of them had only action and were very shallow in their storylines.

Apparently, the film turned out to be just alright. I found many things sensibly done and the plot to be rather original than something cliche like we often see in action films. And it had an interesting concept.

Personally, I have a soft side for post-apocalyptic films. There's a whole lot of ideas that can be sprung up in an almost destroyed world. One thing that's usually common with these films is that they usually have a virus or something related in them. That's the same with this film, but it really wasn't about that, but a portrayal of what bonds we create with love for people can make us do.

The film starts strongly by introducing an idea that explains a lot of things in the film. We find a woman separated from her beloved daughter, who was the reason she did anything. Just like her, there were five other soldiers who had reasons to "keep going," although not as strong as hers.

Normally, you'd find shooting and fighting scenes to overshadow many other elements of action films. Even though such scenes may be entertaining, films make more sense to me when there is reasonable depth in the storyline to make it all the more enjoyable. And that was the angle they went with in this film.

Keeping in mind that it was going to get gruesome for most of the film, I felt allowed to savour the intricate nuances in the interactions between the soldiers, their environments, and situations. And then the whole shooting and fighting was like the cherry on top of the cake.

From start to finish, there were sprinkles of thrillers every now and then. The end goal was to deliver something very vital to secure victory in a war that was already being lost. If and how they would do that—not just on foot, skating on ice for thousands of kilometers behind enemy lines—kept me curious throughout the film.

At war, you really can't really trust people, not even yourself. And so we find in this film, displays of trustworthiness as well as betrayal. That made the film all the more intriguing to watch.

Something that I may not have really enjoyed was the idea that there was not much explained about the cause of the war, anything about the enemy, or what was to follow after the mission. Somehow, the mission's concept sufficed to make the film very entertaining.

They had a really small cast in this film. And the further you get into the film, that number reduces. Therefore, there was a lot of attention paid to the main characters. The film's success, as usual with all films, depended a lot on the performances of these main characters. Despite the film being a Swedish one, although I had watched with the English dub on, I liked just how invested the actors were in the film, particularly Noomi Rapace, the main character.

I didn't exactly enjoy how the film ended, though. I would have preferred a more befitting one, considering the basis of how it started. Its ending was totally understandable, however sad. Notwithstanding, the film was overall entertaining and enjoyable.

Considering how the film ended, I am certain that there will never be a sequel for it, unless the creators pull something crazy and tweak things. If there will ever be a sequel, I might as well indulge myself in yet another round of entertainment. Until then, I'll give this film a 7/10.

Hello friends, I hope you enjoyed the movie I shared with you in my last post? I'm here with another fascinating movie title, Black Crab.

The movie is in a post-apocalyptic world, six soldiers on a covert mission must transport a mysterious package across a frozen archipelago.

The film opens with a flashback scene in which Edh is in a car with her daughter waiting in a traffic jam. Civilians are attacked by approaching enemies and the pair are forced out of the car.

A few years later, she's now a soldier, she's disembarking from a train. A lieutenant drives her to the base through a dangerous neighborhood and strands her there.

She is attacked by refugees and manages to fight her way out. Upon arriving at the base, she is taken for a briefing with the Colonel, and she meets the other soldiers recruited for the special mission.

The Colonel explains that the team must cross the ice-covered Stockholm Archipelago on skates and deliver some canisters to a research base, which he says could lead to victory in the war.

She points out that this appears to be a suicide mission, but she is given a reason to try to make it, the chance to be reunited with Vanja, who has been found in a refugee camp.

The team leaves as the base is attacked the next day, and is joined by the lieutenant who abandoned her earlier. One of the team falls through the thin ice and drowns.

She jumps in after her, saving the two packages from Forsberg’s backpack but leaving her body behind.

The group takes her to a house on land, where they warm her and themselves by a fire and Nylund is selected to be their new commander, according to the chain of command, though she disagrees.

The following morning, she hears the thrum of rotors, and she catches Karimi using the radio.

The helicopter fires a missile into the house as the team escapes, leading to the suspicion that he is a traitor.

He claims he was calling his girlfriend, a radio operator at the F28 base, bombed when he was making his way to it.

Later, the group finds it difficult to skate across the thin ice and decides to travel over land. They find an elderly couple hiding in a home, having refused to leave during the evacuation.

As they eat, she spots a machine pistol mounted under the table, and she silently pleads with the man not to attack.

He nevertheless fires, and the soldiers return fire, leaving Karimi and the couple dead with one of the team injured, downplaying the severity of his wound.

As they prepare to leave, a voice claiming to be Karimi’s girlfriend from the F28 base radios in and asks to talk to him. They answer evasively and ultimately close the connection.

While resting on a ship they find frozen in the ice, one of the team opens the packages. Which contain vials of liquid with a biohazard warning, suggesting they could be some sort of biological weapon.

This leads to a crisis of conscience among the team. As he slowly dies from his injuries, he insists that the virus would not be the end of the war but instead the end of everything and shoots himself in the head.

After spotting lights on the ice which could be enemy forces, she leaves alone to continue the mission with the vials.

She comes across dangerously thin ice and attempts to skate across, but it cracks and leaves her stranded.

Two out of the team rescue her with a rope before all three attempt to cross. One of them shoots a lone machine gunner in a pillbox on a rocky hill overlooking the ice before the trio comes across the latter's comrades who frozen to death.

One of them recounts why he enlisted in the military: after being forced by the enemy to dig a mass grave with his childhood friend, he fell in as his friend was shot, and the enemy soldiers did not realize he was still alive.

Forced to push his way out from under the corpses, he witnessed their being eaten by rats and enlisted soon after.

The next morning, awoken by memories of her daughter, she realizes Nylund has run off with the capsules.

She and one of the team are attacked by a group of enemy soldiers. The two kill them all, but she is shot, and the other is killed.

She continues her journey on the ice, catching up to Nylund who reveals he is now abandoning the mission and is instead intent on destroying the capsules.

She shoots him and recovers the capsules. Furthermore, she leaves him on the ice, but soon experiences visions of two of the team before collapsing on the ice as some soldiers arrive at horseback.

She awakes in an infirmary with frostbite to her extremities. Likewise, she finds out that she has reached her objective, the military base.

Furthermore, she'congratulated, awarded medals and promoted to Second Lieutenant for succeeding in the operation by the base commander.

An injured Nylund watches with other soldiers. She asks to see her daughter but is told that this was a ruse to increase her willpower to get the packages to the base.

On learning about this, she attacks the commander but is restrained by Nylund, who holds her as she cries, she decides to destroy the capsules and convinces Nylund to make a last-ditch effort to dispose of them.

Netflix nos muestra algo de esto en una de sus producciones más recientes: Cangrejo Negro. No obstante, el telón de fondo tras esta película profundiza en mensaje mucho más oscuro.

Lately we have all witnessed the great calamity that has put the world against a rock and a hard place: war. Conflicts here and there, weapons and missiles that detonate and destroy the most innocent lives. Because yes, no one can be the winner in those war disputes that only cause pain and suffering. Netflix shows us some of this in one of its most recent productions: Black Crab. However, the backdrop behind this film delves into a much darker message.

Cangrejo Negro es una película Sueca, matizada en escenarios hermosos y oscuros que son capaces de bosquejar una atmósfera perfecta para el suspenso y la acción. Adam Berg es el director tras bastidores, y, aunque es la primera vez que veo una de sus películas, puedo decir que su trabajo para con la confección de esta película estuvo bien ejecutada; sentimos el peligro, como si fuéramos parte de la misión de Edh… hielo y sangre cubren un largometraje que, haciendo honor a su nombre, nos sorprende con un paradigma completamente inesperado.

Black Crab is a Swedish film, nuanced in beautiful and dark settings that are able to outline a perfect atmosphere for suspense and action. Adam Berg is the director behind the scenes, and although it is the first time I have seen one of his films, I can say that his work in making this film was well executed; We feel the danger, as if we were part of Edh's mission... ice and blood cover a feature film that, honoring its name, surprises us with a completely unexpected paradigm.

No obstante, en el camino que Adam Berg y Pelle Rådström tomaron para confeccionar el guión dejaron un enorme vacío entre el elemento de fondo que mueve la acción de la película y las propias motivaciones de los personajes. Cangrejo Negro es un largometraje de consecuencias y no de causas, por lo que el hilo de la historia va girando medianamente a lo largo de dos horas de duración. Siento que en este punto pudo haber más… ¡Pudo ser una mejor película! Sin embargo, deseos y realidades no son algo comprendido por estos dos genios suecos detrás de esta historia.

However, in the path that Adam Berg and Pelle Rådström took to write the script, they left a huge gap between the background element that moves the action of the film and the motivations of the characters themselves. Black Crab is a feature film of consequences and not of causes, so the thread of the story turns moderately over two hours. I feel like at this point there could be more… It could have been a better movie! However, wishes and realities are not something understood by these two Swedish geniuses behind this story.

›Black Crab review - New scandinavian movie on Netflix@unbiasedwriter1541d
I often like Scandinavian movies and crime series, and thus, I had great expectations as I heard about the new Netflix original movie named Black Crab. Noomi Rapace has the main role in the movie, a girl some might remember from movies such as the Millenium movies (where she plays Lisbeth Salander). If you don't remember that title, then it might ring some bells if I say The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But, remember that she played the main role in the original Swedish movies, not in the international version of the movie made years later.

She has also played a role in Jack Ryan, just as well as in the TV series Django, and several others. But, let us forget about all the others and rather focus on Black Crab.

What is Black Crab all about?

The story takes place in a strange and utopic world in Scandinavia. We never get to know much about the background story, except that there is a war and the main characters as we know them are in danger and under attack. They are presented with one final solution that will bring the war (that they are about to lose) into victory. But, for that to happen, a group of five people have to go across the ice, nearly 200km within enemy territory to deliver a package.

This is a chance that only is possible because it is freezing cold and the entire sea is covered with ice. But, as you probably know, this is going to be a dangerous journey and not everyone will survive (surprise, surprise!).

And even more... what is in the package that they are about to deliver that might make it turn the entire war around?

Is Black Crab worth watching?

I watched the first 50 minutes with my wife, but then she said she was bored and didn't want to watch it anymore. Instead we watched The Weekend Away together, and to be honest, that was way more boring.

So, I decided to finish the movie all by myself while training. And I did so. But... but... it somehow become more and more stupid, and as the movie came to an end, if it wasn't for my pride, I would probably have said that my wife made a smart decision.

Even though this is a Swedish movie (with some actors from Denmark and Norway as well), this was actually quite stupid, and I did lack some of the background information that would actually make us understand more about what's going on, who are the good and the bad guys, and why is it happening whatever is going on.

Hola cinéfilos, como es de costumbre en mi contenido colocaré bajo la lupa una nueva producción que se agregó recientemente al catálogo de uno de los servicios de streaming más importantes de la actualidad, la película se llama Cangrejo Negro y se ha situado dentro de el top de popularidad en Netflix posicionándose durante varios días en esta categoría, ¿vale la pena verla? Como siempre, intentaré responder esta pregunta basado en mi opinión personal, comentando sin spoiler sobre las características de este film. ¡comencemos!

Uno de los aspectos que siempre me llama la atención es el tema bélico en los films, si una producción llamativa se encuentra en los primeros puestos de popularidad de Netflix, seguramente estará en mi lista de reproducción. Otro aspecto interesante sobre esta película es su origen, Suecia no es un país muy famoso por sus películas, sin embargo, gracias a este tipo de plataformas hemos sido testigos de esa evolución en la industria cinematográfica de países europeos. Hoy comentaré sobre una película sueca, no recuerdo si había comentado en Hive otra de este país escandinavo, aunque siempre he pensado que debemos otorgarles la oportunidad a producciones de otros países no tan conocidos por este tipo de trabajos fílmicos pero que seguramente nos pueden sorprender.

Sinopsis:

La misión de 6 soldados es llevar un paquete dentro de las filas enemigas, cruzando un lago congelado en la oscuridad de la noche, este paquete promete poner fin a la guerra y le otorga la esperanza a Caroline Edh de volver a encontrarse con su hija. Una misión suicida donde sacrificarán todo para poner punto y final al cruel conflicto.

Análisis de la Película

Desde cierto punto, el tráiler, la sinopsis e incluso el poster nos genera esa sensación de que puede ser una película interesante, aunque nada muy nuevo en la industria del cine, sigue siendo un argumento de interés para los espectadores, la típica misión “suicida” para salvar el mundo con todas las probabilidades en su contra, son enviados como animales al matadero, sus habilidades con patines de hielo y con las armas automáticas será la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte.

Futuro Apocalíptico

La película nos sumerge en el tipo de historia donde anteriormente se ha ocurrido una catástrofe global, una sociedad distópica que busca controlar el poder que aun queda en el mundo. Nos concentramos en Suecia en una sangrienta guerra civil, sin gobierno o si alguna intervención extranjera, solo las armas y los misiles que bombardean los asentamientos militares. A pesar de que se nos introduce directamente a esta historia, no se nos revela las causa por la cual la humanidad o al menos Suecia se encuentra sumida en este caos.

Sin Introducción

Este aspecto puede ser el punto de inflexión para la apreciación del film de muchos espectadores, debido a que la película nos muestra una introducción de tan solo unos segundos para acentuar en el film el vinculo que existe entre la protagonista y su hija, luego de esa minúscula introducción la película comienza a dar pasos agigantados en su argumento dejando al espectador sin un contexto base con el cual apoyarse para comprender la historia alrededor de las situaciones que se presentan en el film. Dándole al espectador no solo la libertad sino el deber de hacer volar su imaginación e interpretar lo que ha ocurrido debido a que en ningún momento la película explica el contexto en el cual se desarrolla el argumento.

¿Ventaja o Desventaja?

Esto va ligado directamente a la opinión de cada espectador, muchos desean esa libertar de interpretar lo ocurrido, pero, por otro lado, existen los que desean que la película genere al menos los cimientos sobre el contexto para comprender mejor el film. Desde mi perspectiva me agradan las películas de libre interpretación, pero en este caso me hubiese gustado una introducción con una explicación sobre el contexto de la película.

¿Qué pudo haber Pasado?

La película no lo muestra en ningún momento, pero en mi humilde opinión la película muestra un futuro luego de una guerra nuclear, observamos varias pistas que pueden llevar al argumento en esa dirección.

EL Frío: Aunque el argumento de desarrolla en un país que por su posición geográfica es muy frío La película muestra esa nieve perpetua e incluso se nombra que el invierno nunca desaparecerá y cada vez habrá más frío, dando lugar al congelamiento del archipiélago donde se realizará la misión. Todo este efecto climático puede ser producto de un invierno nuclear provocado por una guerra anterior.

Sin Gobierno y Ciudades Desoladas: Se describe que no hay gobierno, no existe una línea de mando gubernamental solo el liderazgo político y sobre todo militar que existe en la guerra civil, en la cual se desea el control absoluto del territorio y de lo que queda de población. Quizás luego de esa guerra nuclear los gobiernos se aniquilaron mutuamente y los sobrevivientes tomaron las armas ante la desesperación sobre el agotamiento de los recursos.

A pesar que solamente son suposiciones, creo que se puede darle un poco más de sentido al film reuniendo esas pistas y creando el contexto por nosotros mismos.

Acción

La producción nos muestra acción propia de las películas sobre misiones difíciles, algunos con una buena combinación de disparos, sin embargo, desde mi perspectiva las escenas de acción no son trascendentes y por momentos podemos sentir que son pocas, otorgándole más importancia al extenso y frío viaje de los soldados. En mi opinión la acción de la película posee algunas buenas escenas, pero no lograran quedarse en nuestra mente por mucho tiempo.

Fotografía

Debo admitir que la fotografía del Cangrejo Negro me ha sorprendido gratamente, es un trabajo de mucha calidad que no le envidiaría nada a las producciones norteamericanas, la congelante ambientación postapocalíptica, en combinación con los juegos de cámaras e incluso las tomas aéreas son un trabajo de alta factura. Para mí, es uno de los aspectos más resaltantes de esta película. A pesar de que la película no cuenta con muchos efectos visuales se complementan de buena manera para generar el impacto deseado sobre el argumento.

Ritmo

La película comienza con un ritmo algo acelerado, pero este tipo de películas donde la trama gira alrededor de un pequeño grupo de soldados en una difícil misión, observaremos que el ritmo es un sube y baja dependiendo de las situaciones que aparezcan, sin embargo, durante todo el metraje se lleva un ritmo algo acelerado pero que no resulta agobiante.

Actuaciones

Las actuaciones son decentes, sobre todo la de la protagonista Noomi Rapace, siendo de lejos el mejor personaje de esta historia, donde quizás, observaremos otros típicos personajes al estilo comando, el rudo, el joven inexperto y en el que siempre sentiremos desconfianza. A pesar de que la calidad de actuaciones es limitada por el guion se realiza un trabajo decente. Debo decir que algunos personajes parecen estar de más en la historia.

Opinión Final

El trabajo técnico de la película es bastante bueno, fotografía, ambientación, juego de cámaras y la calidad visual en general es uno de los aspectos más resaltantes de esta película, eso me impresionó gratamente teniendo en cuenta que no recuerdo en este momento que haya reseñado otra película sueca.

Quizás el aspecto menos favorable es el de la historia, nos muestra introduciendo inmediatamente en ese futuro distópico sin saber nada más y no se termina de explicar lo ocurrido, es una fracción de una historia mucho más grande que se nos muestra. A pesar de todo esto la trama tiene un buen desenvolvimiento, aunque el final, en lo particular, no me terminó de convencer a pesar de que pudo ser mucho peor.

En líneas generales, es una película que logra ser entretenida, pero al mismo tiempo olvidable.

¿La Recomiendo?

A pesar de que tiene aspectos favorables, no la recomendaría a todo el mundo, hay que interpretar muchas cosas en el film para otorgarle un poco más de sentido a las situaciones y esto puede incomodar a algunos espectadores, esto no es compensado con una acción tan significativa, sin embargo, es una aventura interesante con una excelente calidad visual.

As always, I will try to answer this question based on my personal opinion, commenting without spoilers about the features of this film. let's start!

One of the aspects that always catches my attention is the war theme in films, if an eye-catching production is on the top of Netflix's popularity, it will surely be on my playlist. Another interesting aspect about this film is its origin, Sweden is not a country very famous for its films, however, thanks to this kind of platforms we have witnessed that evolution in the film industry of European countries. Today I will comment on a Swedish film, I don't remember if I had commented on Hive another one from this Scandinavian country, although I have always thought that we should grant the opportunity to productions from other countries not so well known for this type of film works but that surely can surprise us.

Synopsis:

The mission of 6 soldiers is to carry a package into the enemy ranks, crossing a frozen lake in the darkness of the night, this package promises to end the war and gives hope to Caroline Edh to meet her daughter again. A suicidal mission where they will sacrifice everything to put an end to the cruel conflict.

Film Analysis

En un principio esta película me hizo recordar a la guerra actual que se esta viviendo y sus terribles y devastadoras consecuencias, así mismo es como se percibe el ambiente y la historia no te da mucho tiempo ni para respirar desde que comienza, inmediatamente inicia la historia la hija de la protagonista es raptada sin saber el porque.

En primer punto puedo decir que no entendí esa parte en toda la película, porque no se explica el ¿por qué se llevaron a la hija? luego queda claro que hay una guerra que se esta perdiendo, pero creo que la historia no se basa en quien es el enemigo, solo sabemos que hay una guerra pero no sabemos contra quien es.
