Hello, Internet people, how are you? This film is one of my favourites, not only because it is a visual and plot gem, but also because it has a dark tinge and an impressive halo of mystery.

Nina is a ballet dancer who, after being cast in one of the most emblematic roles of her career, the title role in "Swan Lake", becomes so obsessed with being perfect that she ends up in a dizzying descent of her own self, but ultimately landing the role of a lifetime.

For Nina's decline we have to understand many things from the beginning, the first factor is that she is developing an extremely demanding discipline in which if you are not in your full mental faculties, you can end up badly, on the other hand, Nina's mother is extremely absorbing, she treats her like a little girl, although she is 30 years old (she even puts a music box on her at night like a baby mobile) which leads to her having a childish and fragile personality, and finally we have the director of the dance company, who is always pressuring Nina to be a better black swan, throwing negative comments at her every time she plays this role, frustrating her.

The pressure of each of these parts leads her to discover a new side of herself, that evil "I", belonging to the black swan personality, we see Nina fall into the deepest hole until she finally becomes the black swan she has worked so hard to become, however, this causes her to lose her innocence and goodness and therefore, she can no longer play the white swan as she once did.

    Spoiler Alert

This film is full of symbolism, when I watched the film when I was younger, I thought it was a paranormal film and the ending was not very clear to me. However, watching it again with a critical eye, what the film leaves to the viewer's assumption is that Nina suffered from some kind of mental disorder that, due to the aforementioned factors and the pressure she put on herself, ended up developing into visual and auditory hallucinations that led her to attack herself (and that is why she died).

The film tells us how obsessing over a goal (I don't mean setting a goal and achieving it) but obsessing over a goal can lead to the downfall of the human being, how the human mind can fall into a decline that can even affect physical health. Nina achieved her goal, yes, to play the role of her life to the applause of thousands of people, but in the end was it worth all the effort and suffering?

Natalie Portman is a beautiful woman who has enchanted me since her debut in Luc Besson's Leon The Professional. She has been proving that she is not just a pretty face, but a very competent actress who dares to act in any genre that comes her way, her most electrifying performance for me was in the film Black Swan.

One of the best classical ballets is Swan Lake, being a fundamental piece in it the music of Tchaikovsky. Full of romanticism and beauty, it represents the triumph of good (Odette, the White Swan) over evil (Odile, the Black Swan).

The thriller starring Natalie Portman and directed by Darren Aronofsky makes use of suspense and reality distortion to portray the mental situation of its central figure.

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7nU1RCkrnQ)

Nina Sayers, a ballet dancer who tirelessly pursues perfection in her craft by sacrificing everything she has to achieve success. Reality and imagination overlap and create a hallucinatory effect that accompanies us throughout the story.

A new version of Swan Lake is to be performed by the US National Ballet Company. There will be only one Swan Queen representing the White Swan and the Black Swan. The choreography of this ballet requires from the dancers a great technical ability for the interpretation of the characters, especially that of the principal dancer, who is often the same for both roles of Odette/Odile and, while in the role of Odette she performs soft and delicate movements, when she is Odile they are much more energetic movements.

Nina impresses the company director with her technique as she performs the White Swan with exquisite precision, but she will have to prove that the sensuality and spontaneity characteristic of the Black Swan are also within her.Getting this role is only the beginning of Nina's destruction.

At times, it is difficult to distinguish between paranoia and reality. The film makes us experience the same delirium as Nina, and the suspense remains constant.

Throughout the story, Nina sees her face on other people's bodies, is sexually attracted to Lily ( Mila Kunis), but also envies her and sees her as a rival to destroy.

There are raw and bizarre moments happening in Nina's mind that we experience visually, such as: The word Whore in the mirror, written by herself with the makeup she had stolen from the dressing room of the previous protagonist (Winona Ryder).

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO9Tmd0JxKM)

The skin of the finger: When Nina is in the bathroom, she tries to pull off a small piece of skin and, stretching it, she tears off a long strip. Instantly, we discover that it was only a figment of her imagination. . https://youtu.be/J8W4qQ8rxsI Source

Her other self in the bathtub: The young woman is immersed in the water and suddenly another version of herself appears above her and tries to drown her.

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in3xQ3G0wrU)

The Attack on Beth: The company's former star, Beth (Winona Ryder), is admitted to the hospital after a suicide attempt. Nina comes to visit her and suddenly, Beth begins to stick a nail file in her face. Escaping from the hospital, Nina carries the file in her hands.

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FLHHw4e0a4)

Throughout the film we continually see mirrors and reflections that represent Nina's multiple identity. Her image spreads wider and wider and her madness becomes more and more tangible.

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UgoRTaE9UY)

Also, her physical transformation into a swan occurs at several points in the film. We witness a complete metamorphosis: feathers begin to sprout from her skin and her knees are placed in reverse, as if it were a bird's leg.

During the first act of the final performance, Nina seems to see her face among the dancers, which makes her unstable and causes her to fall to the floor in the middle of a pirouette. Arriving in the dressing room for the intermission, she finds Lily, who is preparing to replace her. In a fit of rage, Nina stabs a piece of mirror into her belly.

    [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jeq15Jw88M)

Believing her to be dead, he manages to hide her in the dressing room bathroom. During the performance as the Black Swan, she gives an impressive performance. As she prepares for the last act, Lily arrives in the dresser and compliment her.

Horrified, Nina discovers that the bathroom is empty and that she has a piece of mirror stuck in her stomach. Thus, she transforms back into the good version of herself, and assumes the gravity of the situation: she has fatally wounded herself and ventures towards her death.

She performs the final act and throws herself into the void (a gesture we had previously seen her rehearse). When the play concludes, the rest of the company comes to congratulate her and see how she is bleeding to death. The screen fades to white, and we can understand that the young woman has died. The young woman must pay a high price: her life.

Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, a few days ago I saw a very interesting and very good movie from 2010. I wanted to see this movie for a long time but for some reason I was a little afraid of it haha. This movie I will be talking about today is a suspense and psychological horror movie directed by Darren Aronofsky. You can imagine which movie I want to talk about, yes, The Black Swan. For lovers of psychology and horror along with suspense I highly recommend this movie, although I know that maybe many people have already seen it because of how old it is.

Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman) is a young woman who has dedicated her whole life to the world of dance, under the pressure of being a perfect young woman thanks to her mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who has always had her only daughter encapsulated in a perfect world, where her room is full of pink and black colors as if Nina was still a little girl. Nina wants to become a better dancer and be recognized for it and now that the company where she works is considering the idea of doing a presentation of Swan Lake directed by Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) after they forced the former ballerina Beth Macintyre (Winona Ryder), the idea of being chosen as the main dancer does not leave Nina's mind so she strives every day to try to make Thomas realize her talents and choose her.

So Nina practices and decides to apply for the role of the Swan, she does very well but Thomas, the director tells her that she is capable of playing the White Swan on stage in a very genuine way and that it would be great for her to get the role but there is a small problem. The problem is that he doesn't see in her the characteristics of the Black Swan, which should be dark and ambitious. Nina feels very bad about Thomas' opinion, at first she thinks about leaving it at that and not taking the role but a part of her refuses and goes back to meet with Thomas. She insists that she must be the one to take the lead role and he tells her that to play the Black Swan she must give up the idea of wanting to control everything and gives her a kiss to which she responds by biting his mouth, at which point he tells her that this is how the Black Swan would act and that he is going to give her the role.

This is when Nina begins to live strange experiences, while the self-demand to play the role of the Swan consumes her day by day and the constant criticism from Thomas where he tells her that she is not capable of doing both versions of the Swan, that makes her feel insecure but at the same time a very dark side of her is coming out. Even more so when Thomas tells Nina that there is a dancer named Lily (Mila Kunis) who can play the Swan perfectly. This generates in Nina a lot of anger and jealousy towards Lily.

One day Lily goes to Nina's house and offers to take her out so she can clear her mind and relax a little from the pressure she is under, Nina's mother tells her that she should not leave the house because it is late and she is not allowed to. Nina in an act of rebellion tells her mom that she is going out and takes her jacket and leaves with Lily. Both arrive at a bar, Lily tells her that she has to relax so she can play the role of the Swan and also offers her a pill that according to her would make her sleep a few hours and rest, Nina hesitates for a moment but still ends up taking the drink. The next thing that happens is something really weird. Nina takes Lily home and they run together to Nina's room, then they have sex and at the end Nina, finding herself on top of Lily, takes a pillow and chokes her to death.

Nina wakes up the next morning looking for Lily's body but she finds herself alone in her room, which scares her a lot because she doesn't understand what really happened and her head starts to have problems. In addition to having problems with her physical appearance, she has trouble eating and always has a kind of itching in the upper part of her back, which is hurt because of how much she scratches in that area. Nina decides to confront Lily who is practicing for the swan dance and asks for an explanation of what happened the night before, it turns out that they never had sex, it was all a figment of Nina's imagination.

Nina has certain hallucinations about Lily being with Thomas, about him stealing her role and even about him going to the hospital where Beth is after having a car accident and killing her. This generates a lot of fear and dread in Nina because she knows something is wrong with her but she still insists on playing the role of the Swan. At the time of the act Nina does her part of the White Swan flawlessly but then she has several hallucinations including one where she sees Lily but with the face of herself and she starts to despair. Her mind is telling her many things at once. Still she decides to do the final act of the Black Swan and finishes the show.

I don't want to tell you the ending because some may already have an idea and some may not, but Nina is a girl who suffers from hallucinations, she has a mental illness which makes her see all those things that happen in her life. It is really strong to watch, Natalie Portman did an excellent role in this movie, from having to learn dance to getting into the role of someone who has delusional ideas. Many people consider this to be one of the best movies of 2010.

Although it also had controversy since some people compared the film with Perfect Blue (1997) by director Satoshi Kon, Aronofsky said that the Black Swan film is not inspired by that movie. But it does have many similarities such as the hallucinations and the fact that the protagonist had this idea of doing everything perfectly to be happy. Perfect Blue is a very good movie, I saw it a few years ago and it left me shocked and even scared because it is very graphic and ahead of the style of the time and you can tell that it is an Asian film, which almost always tend to be really crude in its story and visually.

The film was nominated for five Oscars, with Natalie Portman winning Best Actress. Portman also won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for the highest female acting award. It was pretty good although I thought it would be scarier than I felt, but I think it got the point of the story across. The way we lead a life guided by a mom like Nina's extremely protective and full of dreams that she then put into her daughter's mind while she was suffering for it was sad. Nina probably wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't been so self-demanding about being perfect and wanting to achieve her dreams at any cost. It is an interesting film especially if you are interested in psychological themes in movies, in this one it was quite clear what the protagonist felt and how she saw the situations that were happening to her. Also the way in which the dark and light colors are seen in the film play a very important role, especially the dark, which is how the representation of pain, fear and suffering.

If you haven't seen it yet, it's time you do, you can find it on Apple TV, Disney+, Prime Video, and also on movie sites in Spanish dubbing and subtitles. I hope you can watch it and leave me your opinion about what you thought about this movie, where Natalie Portman did a great job as an actress.

The proposal this week in the CineTV contest is very striking, it is no longer the best movie or the funniest, we have a proposal for that movie that makes you fall asleep while you are watching it.

I love the artist, I've seen her since I was little in different roles, but this role of suspense and betrayal seemed very boring to me.

Watch the dancer as she begins to lose that sense of reality as she feels threatened in her position as the lead in "Swan Lake."

I wanted to see it, since Natalie Portman won the Oscar for best actress for her impressive performance in this dark thriller. Although the effort and makeup, the preparation do not detract from it, I ended up falling asleep literally in the middle of the movie and I would love to know if it happened to anyone else.

The movie has an amazing musical band, beautiful sets and costumes. The painful efforts to maintain her position as a principal dancer are responsible for deepening the plot psychologically.

I had to read later how the movie ended, because the dream time jumps that Nina the protagonist had, which didn't really happen, confused me a lot.

  7. The Black Swan (2010) | Movie Review | Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis@gonklavez91817d

When a film is so tense that you can barely watch and yet you’re disappointed when the credits roll, take notice. When it’s also packed with creative direction, top-class performances and a fascinating look at the nature of fame and split personality, you’re onto a winner. And when a much-hyped lesbian scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis isn’t even a highlight, bet the house.

A quick look at director Aranofsky’s back catalogue – particularly his superb previous film and companion piece, The Wrestler – is enough to heighten expectations for this one. But in crafting a final product that’s part arthouse, part blockbuster, and all brilliant, even these have been easily surpassed. The tale, built around a performance of Tchaikovsky ballet Swan Lake, concerns aspiring dancer Nina Sayers (Portman), a surprise choice for the lead role of the Swan Queen.

Nina is ecstatic with the promotion in her dream casting and nervous about taking on such a complex part – a feeling that isn’t eased by her demanding (and slightly grumpy) director, overbearing mother, and psychotic veteran’s replaced as the star. Things are also complicated by the arrival of backing dancer Lily (Kunis), whose outgoing nature and overt sexuality are at odds with the prudish and bashful Nina.

But her main barrier to success is herself, both in terms of overcoming her physical insecurities and, more cripplingly, her raging paranoia. Being thrust into the limelight sets her off on a spiral of schizophrenic instability, manifesting itself both physically and in clashes with family and colleagues. Portman conveys all of this mania brilliantly in a demanding role, and she’s more than ably backed up by the supporting cast.

But the real star is Aronofsky’s direction. The middle act is some of the most compulsively uncomfortable viewings I can remember, and the whole piece is simultaneously beautifully shot and relentlessly off-putting. Clint Mansell’s soundtrack contributes immensely to the creeping unease, playing against the classical score of the ballet to underline the stages of Nina’s dissolution.

Black Swan crescendoes as magnificently as the ballet it’s built on, Portman’s madness peaking to the extent that the lines between delusion and reality begin to blur. There might be times when you’ll be unsure as to what’s happening on screen, but that’s all part of the carefully choreographed dance. This film is a perfect balance of beauty and madness.

  8. Black Swan in flight@melbourneswest2103d

    20200924_171744.jpg

Good morning featherd friends from Australia!

First of all thank you for welcoming me and including me in the community it has been wonderful and I'm enjoying the posts everyone is sharing and enjoying contributing to the community.

    20200924_171745.jpg

At the moment my posts have been focusing around the black Swan families that are currently in breeding season so it's been great to share their journey with you all.

    20200924_171747.jpg

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to see one of the swans fly from one end of the lake to the other. Which believe it or not is quite rare.

    20200924_171748.jpg

I've noticed that black swans seem to spend most their time wadding in water and even walking and not much time in the sky. I'm not sure of the reason but their flight definitely is quite amusing.

    20200924_171750.jpg

There long necks give them a rather odd looking flight in my opinion as they extend their necks all the way out. I'm sure this is to help with stability and maintaining trajectory but it sure as heck looks funny.

Also note that the Swan only flys a foot or two above the water as if gliding across it. I never see them high in the sky.

Perhaps Black Swans are scared of heights?

With so many in the area seeing them above is rare. They seem to follow the lake and water ways leading to other lakes.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Black Swans are scared of heights?

  10. "Black Swan" by Darren Aronofsky - movie review@godflesh2951d

It's hard to live in an image. Sometimes it is very exhausting. How to look at the world if you guard your mask jealously. They are built for years (masks), comfortable to wear and sometimes very beautiful - like the white (or black) swan fluff ... To not be the unscrupulous doctor, tempted to dissect (because Aronofsky does not deserve this!) Today I drop the mask to share ... the passion ... ...

'All the world's a stage,And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances

    William Shakespeare

    the-black-swan-2758q6y.jpg

Whatever I was trying to get started, something was missing ... There is a particular feeling, feeling or hint of thought that is so intrusive and at the same time so easily eluded that you accidentally scream every time you drop it ... Thought hangs around the plot, Aronofsky's work, Natalie's choice, Tchaikovsky's music (and the unique Clint Mansel), and the only center of passion. Power is in the very essence of ballet selflessness, but the passion with which this movie heroine lends herself to the dream of reincarnation seems to pierce all the main conspirators in "Black Swan". And their enjoyment will not be real if they do not share their pain with the audience. It's hard to be perfect - but how many people in the movie theater are aware of this fact with the crystal clarity in Nina's thought that continues to train the body and torture her mind. The ambition to discover the darkness in your soul, to recreate the passion of dance, to resist unscrupulousness in the directives of production (the ice-passionate character of Vincent Cassel) and to sacrifice everything for the sake of perfection - the vibration of these strings stretched to the limit the image of the swan wings. Natalie Portman resists their weight - the story and the director rely heavily on her acting passion and she earnestly thanks them for their trust.

    1516025162-0.jpg

The skeptical viewers may find an egocentric, self-effeminate aspirations for victory at all costs, a triumph of the "primacy" over the challenging double task of being innocent purity and gloomy passion in perfect unity ... And surely they will be right ... if they do not touch that directorial a passion with which Aronofsky snores every scene, every detail, angle and movement. It is he who is the culprit for the unique pulling force that swirled the hurricane of spectator interest and numerous nominations and awards. This director is responsible for the tracer of the scene that each of us has come to see in his personal experience of his film. In the ruthless bundle of light the soul stands on his fingers and knows that if he has the courage to wish them, he will get the swan's wings. But to dare to solve them, he will have to have the power of passion that is flowing from the movie ...
