A bit of Horror and action set in Goth.

A decent French action movie, this was also the consensus of the general public at the box office. Yes, it did reasonably well at the cinemas. It has a certain style that combines goth, with stunning locations, and a bit of horror. This shouldn't be confused with a top of the line Hollywood movie, it does delivery a very good movie going experience even with reading of subtitles. The movie does tell the story well and the explanation at the end does fit the movie. This is one worth seeing, not a must see but worth seeing.

The story takes place in France, around 1765 and is based on a true story. The people in a local village are being killed by something, but what? None of the remains found correspond to any animals local to the area. This beast is ferocious, fast and posses great strength.

News of the killings reach the King and the number of deaths is approaching 100. The king sends two envoys to investigate and get to the bottom of the story. Being a shepherd at the time in the area was not a sort after occupation due to the attacks and killings that were occurring.

A number of people in the town frown on outsider meddling in there affairs, the local priest is convinced that the beast is of supernatural origin. Hence it can only be stopped by god and the village must become christian. The explanation offered in the movie is a theory, the actual cause of the killings was never resolved in real life.
