El viaje de un niño y su tío forjará un lazo que podrá perdurar en el tiempo... "C'mon C'mon"
En las muchas películas que he visto seguramente están esas historias en dónde un adulto debe hacerse cargo de la crianza de un niño, sea porque tiene una unión directa (padre e hijo) o porque solo no queda otra cosa que hacer, ser el protector hasta que el niño está completamente a salvo; historias dentro de cualquier género, drama, acción, comedia, terror, pueden basarse en estas historias, adultos que descubren la paternidad, que experimentan esta faceta de la vida cuando menos lo esperaban; entre muchas películas que son sobre este tema puedo nombrar: "ALIENS" y "A Perfect World", en estos films veremos cómo los protagonistas no tienen una relación sanguínea y de igual forma forjan una fuerte relación, siendo el adulto quien toma el papel de padre; justamente eso sucede en la película qué reseñó en este post, pero que tiene la particularidad que sus protagonistas tienen un fuerte lazo familiar, pero que todavía les falta por descubrir.

In the many films I have seen surely there are those stories where an adult must take over the upbringing of a child, either because it has a direct union (parent and child) or because there is nothing else left to do, to be the protector until the child is completely safe; stories within any genre, drama, action, comedy, horror, can be based on these stories, adults who discover parenthood, who experience this facet of life when they least expected it; among many films that are on this subject I can name: "ALIENS" and "A Perfect World", in these films we will see how the protagonists do not have a blood relationship and in the same way forge a strong relationship, being the adult who takes the role of parent; just that happens in the film what reviewed in this post, but that has the particularity that its protagonists have a strong family bond, but that they still have yet to discover.
En "C'mon C'mon" veremos la historia de "Johnny", un periodista que gracias a su programa de radio viaja por Norteamérica entrevistando a adolescentes y niños preguntando sobre qué piensan de la vida y del futuro, justamente en después de una de esas entrevistas, Johnny decide llamar a su hermana "Viv" que vive en Los Ángeles, ella es madre de un niño de 9 años que se llama "Jesse"; la relación entre Johnny y Viv es distante desde la muerte de su madre y es por eso que él se sorprende cuando su hermana le pide el favor de cuidar a su hijo muestras ella ayuda al padre de Jesse que sufre de bipolaridad, está es la oportunidad de Johnny de tener nuevamente una vida familiar, de recuperar la relación que tenía con su hermana y de crear un lazo especial con su sobrino que más que nunca necesita la imagen de un padre a su lado.
In "C'mon C'mon" we will see the story of "Johnny", a journalist who thanks to his radio program travels around North America interviewing teenagers and children asking about what they think about life and the future, just after one of those interviews, Johnny decides to call his sister "Viv" who lives in Los Angeles, she is the mother of a 9 year old boy named "Jesse"; The relationship between Johnny and Viv is distant since the death of his mother and that's why he is surprised when his sister asks him the favor of taking care of her son, she shows her help to Jesse's father who suffers from bipolar disorder, this is the opportunity for Johnny to have a family life again, to recover the relationship he had with his sister and to create a special bond with his nephew who more than ever needs the image of a father by his side.
Este es el primer trabajo que veo de Mike Mills quien es el director y escritor del guion, su desempeño en la cámara es excelente, la cinematografía es muy buena, cada toda en las ciudades en dónde se desarrolla la historia es muy importante y hasta sirve como protagonista para una parte principal del film; la decisión de hacer esta historia en blanco y negro es otro punto positivo, en una reseña anterior me refería que al hacer un film en este formato le da un toque de elegancia, pero creo que en esta oportunidad la decisión es que cada relato que aparece es para que se sienta que puede ser algo general y no referencial a una clase social o raza, lo otro que me ha gustado son las tomas de las escenas que comparten Joaquin Phoenix y Woody Norman, son muy buenas, todas, sea en la playa, en un parque o una pizzería, todas son hermosas tomas.
La historia es lo que más me ha gustado, preferiblemente es un drama familiar, que trata sobre la soledad y a la vez la paternidad, pero hay muchos otros temas como el trato a personas con enfermedades mentales y como ven el mundo tanto adolecentes como niños y lo que seguramente causa el choque entre generaciones, tal vez todo esto pueda considerarse mucho para una sola historia, pero _**Mills**_ supo cómo relacionar cada tema y darle importancia en momentos específicos de la historia y justamente eso es lo que me ha gustado de esta historia que comienza con un hombre solitario escuchando a jóvenes hablar del futuro y eso le hace darse cuenta de que justamente su vida no puede ser tal como es y eso lo lleva a conectar nuevamente con quién más lo necesita; este film es una buena historia sobre el perdón, la familia, el entendimiento y el sacrificio para que otros puedan tener mejor vida.
This is the first work I've seen from Mike Mills who is the director and writer of the script, his performance in the camera is excellent, the cinematography is very good, each city where the story takes place is very important and even serves as a protagonist for a main part of the film; the decision to make this story in black and white is another positive point, in a previous review I referred that making a film in this format gives it a touch of elegance, but I think this time the decision is that each story that appears is to feel that it can be something general and not referential to a social class or race, the other thing I liked are the shots of the scenes that share Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman, they are very good, all, whether on the beach, in a park or a pizzeria, all are beautiful shots.
The story is what I liked the most, preferably a family drama, dealing with loneliness and at the same time parenthood, but there are many other themes such as the treatment of people with mental illness and how they see the world both teenagers and children and what surely causes the clash between generations, perhaps all this could be considered too much for one story, but Mills knew how to relate each theme and give it importance in specific moments of the story and that is exactly what I liked about this story that begins with a lonely man listening to young people talking about the future and that makes him realize that his life cannot be the way it is and that leads him to reconnect with those who need him the most; this film is a good story about forgiveness, family, understanding and sacrifice so that others can have a better life.
Si mal no recuerdo el anuncio de este film se llevó a cabo después que Joaquin Phoenix ganará el Oscar como mejor actor por su actuación en "Joker", es por eso que al ver el breve tráiler inmediatamente quería ver este trabajo porque sabía que sería algo completamente diferente a lo que había hecho en su anterior film y claro que es así; tal vez este sea el trabajo simple o mejor dicho natural, no hay una gran necesidad de transformación, más que nada explota la nostalgia de alguien que por un momento le gustó la soledad, pero al escuchar relatos de personas que apenas comienzan a vivir tal vez le hizo añorar buenos momentos y quiere recuperar eso aunque para sorpresa deberá ayudar y a la vez descubrir que puede ser importante para alguien muy especial, todo eso lo transmite Phoenix con su actuación, pero debo decir que toma mucho valor gracias a la química que tiene con el joven actor Woody Norman, quien hace el papel de un chico precoz, con un pensamiento muy liberal que por momentos lo hace ver muy independiente, pero al final es un niño, tal vez muy consentido por su madre, pero alguien que le falta el peso de tener a alguien más para poder enseñarle y apoyarlo en su joven vida; ambos actores son perfectos y hacen funcionar a este film.
If I remember correctly the announcement of this film took place after Joaquin Phoenix won the Oscar for best actor for his performance in "Joker", that's why when I saw the brief trailer I immediately wanted to see this work because I knew it would be something completely different from what he had done in his previous film and of course it is; Perhaps this is the simple or rather natural work, there is no great need for transformation, more than anything exploits the nostalgia of someone who for a moment liked the loneliness, but hearing stories of people who are just beginning to live perhaps made him long for good times and wants to regain that although for surprise he must help and at the same time discover that it may be important to someone very special, all this is transmitted by Phoenix with his performance, but I must say that it takes a lot of value thanks to the chemistry he has with the young actor Woody Norman, who plays the role of a precocious boy, with a very liberal thinking that at times makes him look very independent, but in the end he is a child, maybe very spoiled by his mother, but someone who lacks the weight of having someone else to teach him and support him in his young life; both actors are perfect and make this film work.
C'mon C'mon me pareció un buen film, trata muchos temas que se entrelazan desde la historia de un hombre que piensa que su futuro es mantener la soledad en su vida y así liberarse de toda responsabilidad y que gracias al profundo relato de un grupo de jóvenes personas sabe que debe aceptar los errores cometidos en el pasado y ayudar a quien más necesita, hacer saber que él está para cualquier cosa que necesiten quien más lo ama, me gusta que se explore la paternidad, el sacrificio, el compromiso, que siempre es fácil juzgar, tomar una opinión cuando no saben de qué están hablando y que cuando tienen por fin una noción de algún tema, experimentan lo que viven otros, es entonces cuando saben lo que es tomar decisiones, tener preocupaciones, vivir para otros, hacer lo imposible para que estén bien, creo que por todo eso es que este film me ha parecido genial, muy bien dirigido, escrito y actuado, gran historia con temas fáciles de captar y con otros que debemos interpretar; sin ninguna dura es un film que recomiendo ver.
C'mon C'mon seemed to me a good film, it deals with many themes that intertwine from the story of a man who thinks that his future is to maintain solitude in his life and thus free himself from all responsibility and that thanks to the deep story of a group of young people he knows that he must accept the mistakes made in the past and help those who need it most, let them know that he is for whatever they need who loves him most, I like that it explores fatherhood, sacrifice, commitment, that it is always easy to judge, to take an opinion when they don't know what they are talking about and that when they finally have a notion of some subject, they experience what others live, it is then when they know what it is to make decisions, to have concerns, to live for others, to do the impossible for them to be well, I think that for all that is why I found this film great, very well directed, written and acted, great story with themes easy to grasp and with others that we must interpret; without any hard is a film that I recommend to see.
