There is a huge difference between the performances of some actors in the past years and their performances in their recent movies. It's quite upsetting to see an actor you admire perform so poorly. One of the latest additions to the ring is Keanu Reeves!

    [source](https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/wARTxmw3VT2rC9fWV1sJghYgEKU.jpg)

When I saw Keanu Reeves in the 2005 movie Constantine, I could swear that the Keanu Reeves in the new movie is not the same Keanu Reeves. Of course I am being ironic, even though the movies are different, the actor is the same, but there is a big difference between the performances. I think it's natural for an actor or any other professional to have ups and downs in their performance, but I don't understand such high zigzags.

Before going into the story of Constantine, I would like to say that I think Keanu Reeves, who plays the character of John Constantine, gave the performance of his life. I think he played his career movie. Because I don't expect him to give a better performance than this anymore. As a moviegoer, of course I would love to be wrong.

The actor, who plays a character with mystical powers, loses his life for a short time and has the misfortune of seeing hell. After being brought back to life, our hero devotes himself to capturing the demons of the world and sending them back to hell, but he is also looking for a way to get to heaven.

I can say that Keanu Reeves fully inhabits his role with the character he brings to life. The way he reflected his dedication and his body language was perfect. The way he adapted to the story of the movie and his unique facial expressions were also worth seeing. I liked the way he smoked the cigarette the most and his indifference and defiance of life in the moments he smoked.

I have to say that Constantine adds as much value to the movie as a character can add to the movie. The character of John really lives the movie and manages to draw the audience into the movie all by himself. Except for the beginning movies of the Matrix movie series, this is the first time I liked Keanu Reeves so much, I even think he is at a higher level.

The secret code of the movie is "sacrifice" and for me the message was that everything should be done for the sake of faith and what you believe in. The atmosphere created through what we see and what we don't see was impressive. The image of hell was the most chilling. The visuals of mystical creatures and demons complemented the mood of the movie with the story.

You should definitely watch the movie Constantine. I would like to renew that I watched the best Keanu Reeves performance I have ever seen. If you are a smoker, throughout the movie; there is someone I believe you will accompany and his name is; John Constantine

Thank you for being here and reading. I hope I have given you an idea about the movie. I wish everyone who will watch it a good time. See you in my next article, goodbye!

  2. DC's Constantine and the Catholic Doctrine: Reel Vs. Real Life@artgirl798d

Do you remember the movie Constantine (2005)? For sure you had some questions when you watched it, especially if you're not a Catholic. Whether you are or not, did you enjoy watching it? If not then you'll read several reasons why it's probably not any devout Catholic's favorite.

Since I've already been "renewed" as a Catholic around Lent last year I already see things differently. No longer am I a lukewarm Catholic who doesn't care about anything of the religion. Now I love and appreciate all the teachings of the Catholic Church. With that and because I was initially "enlightened" by consuming many online interviews and talks of Catholic exorcist priests, it's time for a religious movie review!

I've watched Constantine a few times and I always enjoy it everytime. I think I've watched it 2 or 3x since it was released? 🤔 I even wrote a post on the comics character and the film last year. (Constantine: Why He's Not Such a Popular Superhero (But He is To Me!)) Was supposed to write a review but I only got time now.

Anyway am so glad it's still on Netflix. I can watch it again and again if I want to. ❤️ Now of course I rewatched it early this month and finally I noticed many things I didn't before. Let me break it down for you.

    ⚠️ Warning: Spoiler Alert!!!

    👓 The Cast

Here are some of the main and supporting cast in the movie:

    Keanu Reeves plays John Constantine

A supernatural "hero" who exorcises demons, dabbles in the occult and other mystical occurrences.

    Rachel Weisz plays Angela Dodson

A detective who asks for Constantine's help due to her twin's mysterious death.

Tilda Swinton plays the angel Gabriel

An archangel of God who plays a role in a major demonic activity.

Pruitt Taylor Vince plays Father Hennessy

    A priest; friend of Constantine.

    Peter Stormare plays Lucifer

The fallen archangel and lord of hell.

    🔸 Trailer & Synopsis

An exorcist and occult practitioner is approached by a detective for help with a crime involving her twin. Eventually demons get involved thus a menacing series of event ensues.

🔸 Artgirl's Story and Character Review

Now I can say the movie Constantine is quite a Catholic film despite the "distortions". And I love it for being like that. No wonder the comics fans didn't like the movie at all.

The character is actually also involved in many occult activities, among other things, but the film version doesn't show a lot of that. ❤️ Well at least now I see more Catholic beliefs in there than New Age ones.

But of course looking through my newly "religion enhanced" eyes, I see a lot of things that devout Catholics would not agree with. Yes folks, of course it is a fictional person in a fantasy world so it's only natural there are differences with real life.

Here's where the movie differs, from reel to real life:

    1. A Lay Person Cannot and Should Not Exorcise Demons

It is not allowed. There are technicalities and exceptions to this but basically only Catholic exorcist priests have the authority to do so and it is given by their bishop.

Even demons will not acknowledge anyone else trying to exorcise them because evil beings are into hierarchies and such. They are sticklers to God's rules despite disobeying God. If one insists, get ready for an evil deluge, especially if you are not in a state of grace. No kidding.

This is why Fr. Hennessy in the movie calling on Constantine for help like he's stronger and better than a priest of God is incorrect. But hey it's a fantastic story nonetheless, we can dream of doing it or be a real exorcist priest instead. 😆 But that in itself is another whole post to write about.

    ### *2. Catholic Priests Do Not Wear Amulets or Talismans* In the movie, we see Constantine take off a triquetra amulet from the priest because "he doesn't need it." Well in fact that's true. We do not need anything else other than God.

Wearing a pagan symbol for protection is a sin against the first commandment of the Lord. No priest should even be caught dead wearing such a thing.

Sacramentals are different from amulets and talismans. To non-Catholics it might seem the same but it's not. And that's another topic for a different day.

    ### *3. Psychic Powers are Never From God* Boy oh boy. Take that in for a minute.

Sure God allows charisms but never psychic abilities. If you read the Bible, no prophet or disciple and apostle of His has supernatural or magical abilities. No one.

All kinds of power comes from God alone. An exorcist does not drive demons out, only the Holy Trinity does, including Mama Mary, the angels and the saints which are extensions and instruments of God! Same as no priest can forgive sins except through the sacrament of Confession when and where Jesus is "behind" him. Jesus Christ forgives repentant sinners through His priests since He ascended.

And so, the clergyman in the film clearly is not working for God alone. He might think he is but he isn't fully committed to the Lord at all.

    ### *4. A Catholic Relic Can Never Be Used For Evil Purposes*

The Spear of Destiny, if it was the one used to pierce Jesus' side and heart, means it is a relic of the Lord. Such a thing becomes a sacramental, therefore holy, and can drive demons out instead of be used for evil purposes like in the film.

Demonic creatures won't even be able to come near or touch such a thing. They hate relics but not as much as they abhor Mama Mary. This is why the archangel Gabriel needs to be the one wielding it in the movie.

    5. Angels Do Not Become Human

In the film, Gabriel is turned human by God because of what it did. In reality, if an angel falls from grace, it becomes a demon. It turns into a supremely ugly creature you'd wish you'd never lay eyes on.

When angels disobeyed God long ago, they fell to Earth but none of them became human at all. More like they turned into demons, magical beings and earth elementals like fairies, dwarves, mermaids and all those mythical creatures we read about. Even ghosts are demons in disguise.

    ### *6. Someone Like Constantine Would Not Directly Go to Heaven*

In reality, he is a lukewarm Catholic bordering on pagan. Syncretism and New Age or occult practices will not get one into Heaven. Even if you use your psychic abilities "for good" it is still of the devil. Such beliefs will drag you in the opposite direction actually. Dabbling in magick and psychic activities are actually the main reasons why people eventually get possessed by demons. Just ask Catholic exorcist priests if you wanna know more.

Despite Constantine fighting evil and exorcising demonic creatures, that's not going to bring anyone to God upon death. Probably possible IF they stored millions and billions of treasures in God's Kingdom (e.g. plenary indulgence, Divine Mercy Sunday feast, Corporal works of mercy, love of neighbor, etc.) But looking at his character as depicted in the movie... nope, no Heaven for him. "Buying your way" to God's Kingdom and still sinning without regret isn't how it's done.

Even if someone is in a constant state of grace (via frequent confession, always going to Sunday masses including Holy Days of Obligation, etc.) there's no assurance you will go to Heaven. Nowhere do we see Constantine even confessing to a priest! I doubt if even the comics have such content. 😆 So definitely he won't be going to heaven even if he sacrificed his life for another.

I used to think that last part where he flipped the bird at the devil is cool. Unfortunately I now know that no devout Catholic or those working on their sanctification would ever do such a thing. Even thinking bad thoughts would stain your soul, meaning Constantine will definitely have to go through purgatory!

I can add more but perhaps that's enough for now. Maybe I'll write a part two soon but let's go to the next part instead.

    🔸 Rating

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest, I rate this movie a 5 in terms of Catholic doctrine and a 10 for entertainment value. 😉

5 because it can mislead people but it can also make people curious on the real Catholic doctrines. Anything can be used as a way to return to God and increase the faith. So if one is curious or on the road to sanctification, this film can definitely make us realize many Catholic beliefs we overlook.

10 because I still love everything about it. Haha. It makes me wanna fight demons! Rawr! This is why most likely a second Constantine movie is being "blocked" from being made. Either that or Hollywood will make a more occult/magic themed film. Of course that might make the movie flop even more. 😆

Even the cartoon and live action TV series only has one season each. And yes it shows him fighting and fooling demons too despite having more occult and magic practices in the episodes. So now do you know why it's not a blockbuster?

Anyway, God is stronger than any evil being out there, remember that. Even your guardian angel is stronger than Satan. 💪 Glory to God in the highest! 🙏

Which one did you find most interesting and why? Maybe you have something to add too, feel free to comment.

    XOXO, @artgirl

  3. Retro Film Review: Constantine (2005)@drax836d

    (source: tmdb.org)

Some things in life are inevitable - such as death, taxes, and Hollywood's tendency to disappoint fans of cult comic books. An example of this can be seen in Constantine, a 2005 horror film directed by Francis Lawrence.

Constantine takes its name from John Constantine, the protagonist of the Hellblazer series of comic books. Originating in the 1980s, the series follows the exploits of an antihero who relies on his magical powers to battle demonic forces for survival rather than to save the world. Constantine, resembling Sting and speaking in a distinct blue-collar English dialect, became one of the most iconic figures in modern comics.

When Hollywood brought the series to the silver screen, very little of the original comic book essence remained intact. Beyond the character's name and smoking habit, almost everything was altered - from relocating London to Los Angeles, transforming Constantine from British to American, and changing his appearance to resemble Neo from The Matrix. This decision, influenced by casting Keanu Reeves as the lead, ultimately doomed the film for fans familiar with the source material. The screenplay by Kevin Brodbin and Frank A. Cappello stripped away the intricate plot and nuanced character development from the comics, replacing them with a simplified and clichéd narrative filled with exorcisms, religious tropes like the Spear of Christ, and a predictable showdown with Satan.

While Keanu Reeves may not have had the opportunity to showcase his full range as an actor in Constantine, due to the character's transformation into a conventional and unconvincing hero, Rachel Weisz delivers a stronger performance despite her somewhat stereotypical role as a twin sister. Tilda Swinton shines as Archangel Gabriel, and Peter Stormare injects some much-needed entertainment as Lucifer in one of the film's memorable moments. However, their efforts are insufficient to elevate Constantine above the typical Hollywood mediocrity. Despite decent special effects and sporadically engaging scenes, watching Constantine can still be a painful experience for those who were fans of the original comic books. In 2014 original comic books were adapted again as short-lived television series starring Matt Ryan.

    Constantine

    CONSTANTINE:

It is a movie made in 2005, which is inspired by the comic book called "Hellblazer" of the company DC Comic, The movie follows the adventures of John Constantine who is a detective of the paranormal and an exorcist at the same time, which fights against the forces of darkness and all its demons.

Plot: Focuses on the character "Jhon Constantine", who is a detective of the occult, who has the ability to see angels and demons on earth. Jhon becomes involved in a war between heaven and hell, when a plan is unleashed to unleash the apocalypse, with the arrival on earth of the son of Lucifer. With the help of a girl detective a little exotic to things paranormal, she and John set out on a mission to stop the threat of demons on earth and also to save his own soul, which is very sought after by Satan himself who in turn will seek him personally.

Cast: The actors who worked on this production are:

Keanu Reeves as John Constantine, Rachel Weisz as Angela Dodson, Shia LaBeouf as John's apprentice, Tilda Swinton as the Archangel Gabriel, Djimon Hounsou as the neutral sorcerer between the two worlds and Peter Stormare as Satan or Lucifer. A first class cast.

Release date: The movie premiered on February 14, 2005 and was a huge success, grossing $230 million at the worldwide box office.

    4..jpg

    Scene from the movie

Director: The director of the film was "Francis Lawrence" who has worked on major films such as the "Hunger Games" trilogy and "I am Legend".

Producer. The producer of the film was "Lorenzo di Bonaventura" who has produced great movies, such as the "Transformers" saga, before getting into film production, he was an executive at Warner Bros. studios.

Screenwriter: The screenplay was written by "Kevin Brodbin", who is a well known screenwriter, also works on tv series and Originalmete wrote the screenplay but at first it was named after the comic book "Hellblazer" but then ended up being called "Constantine." What today is this work of art of cinema.

    3..jpg

    Scene from the movie

Soundtrack: The music for this film production is by film music composer "Brian Tyler" who is known for scoring blockbuster films such as "Fast and Furious" and more recently "Iron Man 3". Brian combined electric, rock, and orchestral music to create a soundtrack that accompanies the film throughout, creating a dark and mysterious atmosphere, the music complements the supernatural story of "Constantine" very well.

Visual effects: The special effects of the film were made by the big companies such as: "Industrial Light & Magic (ILM)" who have done a lot of work for the movies. "The Orphanage and Pacific Title and Art Studio. The special effects were made to create several scenes of what is supernatural in the movie such as: angels, demons, spells, etc. The companies used practical special effects as well as computer effects to create this fictional world in the world of Constantine.

Curious fact: One of those curious facts is that the actor Peter Stormare who plays the role of Lucifer in the movie, appears this one in white suits, funny when talking and delcalzo, this was creative idea was the director "Francis Lawrence", who wanted to leave behind that stereotype of the dark and menacing devil which comes out everywhere.

    5..jpg

    Movie Poster

Based on: The movie as you may already know, but if not here I tell you, is based on the comic book of the company "DC COMIC'S", called "Hellblazer" and the main character of this is "Jhon Constantine" who was created by "Alan Moore", "John Totleben" and screenwriter "Stephen R. Bissette". Jhon Constantine first appeared in the comic book series "Swamp Thing" in 1985.

Criticism: The critics for the movie are varied depending on the people and the audience and the fans, especially the latter who are divided between the comic book fans and the movie fans and most of all the fans of the actor "Keanu Reeves" who earned a huge fan base for his role. There is no other Constantine but him.

Opinion: For me the movie is awesome, I love it, and it is one of my favorites, Keanu's role as constantine is excellent, also I can say that the most nostagic part is the death of jhon's apprentice played by the actor "Shia LaBeouf". One of the parts that I love is when Lucifer removes his lungs damaged by cancer and gives him new lungs so that he can live again and have a new opportunity to take his soul. In general, the movie is a dystopian and fascinating world that we hope the second part that we have been waiting for so long will come.

Conclusion: In my conclusion it is recommendable for all those who are looking for a supernatural action movie, of course if you like the comic book more, don't watch the movie and focus on just reading. Now of course it is a great movie production, with incredible visuals, great music and above all great actors. The movie is 100% recommended.

    1..jpg

    Jhon Constantine

I hope you like this work, once again I tell you it is made with love and affection, all the data that I leave here are because I researched and saw the movie. Thank you for reading and I hope you continue to support me and the people who like and love movies as much as I do. See you, blessings.

  5. (ENG/SPA) Constantine Some Souls are More Valuable than Others@promete0sz1107d

    image.png

Constantine, Source of Image Edited with Paint

Constantine defines something I believe in, God and Lucifer only play to see who has the most valuable souls, I believe in the existence of God therefore also in his counterpart but why the reason for their conflict, what is the purpose of both with humanity, in the film reflects a cruel approach but in my experience I see it coherent and is that they bet, play to influence the free will of human beings so that we commit good or bad acts that condemn our souls to Paradise or Hell.

This is pure philosophy, presented with doses of action that can greatly entertain the viewer while he thinks, gives him his vision of the true desires of God and Lucifer.

Earthly equality is a utopia, by definition we are unequal and as humanity we struggle to reach that point of fair equality, in the film this same concept is revealed to us but in the non-earthly field, where souls are the most valuable thing that each individual possesses and it is what these superior beings desire the most but just like children with collectible cards, they desire the rarest and most valuable souls, difficult to obtain because they are also selfish.

    image.png

    image.png

    The Hell, Source of Image

Like everything in life, there are rules, according to some the rules were made to be broken but others follow them to the letter, there is a contract, free will is respected and I like that, you cannot be all-powerful without following certain principles that control that selfishness that would develop with complete power over things.

It is at this point where the Angels and Demons intervene, which I think also happens in real life, the human being possesses a conscience and I think this is the voice of the Angels and Demons because it is the one that can give us the impulse to commit an act or stop us totally in our action and it is like a separate, independent being that can also do many mischiefs.

The way in scenes how this thinking is revealed in Constantine's Universe is sublime, the person will witness conflicts and around will be both angels and demons tempting the good or bad act.

Clearly this is what I liked most about the film, in fact I wanted to see more on this topic but the center is actually the one who does not want to follow the rules and this is where the film falls because it has no strength, its villain does not call my attention at all because in reality the powerful core is to follow the rules, bordering them in such a way that you win that soul with temptations but you do not cross that limit of the rules.

Regardless of the villain aspect, the twins take over the film, that story does involve, Angela and Isabel do function as the center of the plot, they see what is beyond, what according to the film, the cats see that strange world, that other dimension that overlaps on ours that despite not seeing it, influences us.

    image.png

    image.png

    Angela Dodson, Source of Image

Angela gets all my attention in her performance, she has great chemistry with Constantine and reflects that stubborn human thinking that spiritual things do not exist despite seeing them, perceiving them and that they influence her life directly or indirectly because in her work part of her success is thanks to that supernatural ability she has.

The rule that I want to highlight the most is the Redemption, the purity of this human feeling is the greatest act to obtain Paradise despite the horrible things we have done in life, this rule is very double-edged because someone who enjoyed murdering, in reality will never obtain redemption because in his being there is no such feeling, sooner or later his soul will ask to murder again because it is the struggle of good against evil in his being.

That is why the Rule pleases me, it is just, many can say that it is unjust but in this point God is wise because he knows someone of true evil will never recognize his mistake because he has pleasure committing those acts, he is selfish as his creators.

Selfishness is the easiest way to win a soul, this cardinal sin is the most difficult to overcome, so the rule of redemption I see it perfect because it is almost impossible to achieve if in your soul dominates the evil and selfishness, at this point is where the story is maximum because its protagonist is pure selfishness and his path of redemption is credible and therefore deserves 8 small out of 10 in this review without spoilers because Constantine you if you deserve to go to Paradise in style.

    image.png

    image.png

    Archangel Gabriel, Source of Image

Start the spoiler zone to comment on those scenes that I liked the most from the movie Constantine.

The movie has many moments that I like but there is one with too much style, Keanu Reeves gives his touch to the character when he takes out his middle finger and shows it to Lucifer, FUCK YOU LUCY, this is the best of the film because I fall totally in surprise and remember that rule of redemption, Constantine is a damn selfish that for the first time thinks of someone else besides him, in Angela and at that moment God corresponds and lifts him up, what a wonderful scene.

Lucifer is very intelligent, he is not wise for devil but for old man tells God that this will not take him and takes away all the disgusting Nicotine from his lungs and revives Constantine so that he returns to his path of selfishness, this scene reflects all the child's play that God and Lucifer have on the souls and shows that there are souls with much more value than others.

The scene where Constantine fights the hybrid demons bathed in Holy Water, holy savagery of the best and one hybrid I enjoyed greatly was Balthazar, he is neat as a business executive and then reflects his evil-faced nastiness, how he tempts and influences humans directly and indirectly, I liked him more as a villain, even more than the main villain named Mammon which I found disappointing.

Papa Mid Nite is another character that I want to rescue because he reflects the neutral part, we do not have to take a side, we can take care of ourselves, that is what this character leaves, with style and authority he respects the rules and takes care of his home, in my country there is a religion called Santeria, this character is very Santero, as with a Voodoo structure, the character impresses visually.

The Angel Gabriel gives in because just as from evil you can go to good, from good you can fall into the temptation of evil and she falls to envy because she has always seen unfair that humans have the privilege of redemption, something that no other being has the right, her plot is not weak, it is coherent because it reflects the envy of spiritual beings towards humans, that is why they want our souls with such vehemence.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess that we called her chiquito who is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  6. Constantine: Why He's Not Such a Popular Superhero (But He is To Me!)@artgirl1158d

So once again I've been watching interviews of exorcist priests. This latest one became really interesting especially the last half of it. Something the priest mentioned made me remember a certain DC Universe character I really like.

Have you seen this Keanu Reeves movie? 😍

I love it, like I really hope and pray the second movie will finally come out! COME ON DC! PRETTY PLEASE. I'd rather have the same number of Constantine movies than all the John Wick ones.

What, You Don't Know Who Constantine is?

Well I dunno but perhaps if you are not a comics lover or a DC universe fan maybe you indeed won't have a way to know him. Allow me to introduce to you one of the best comics character out there. Even Batman asks for his help!

I also didn't know about his back story except for what I watched in the animated and live action TV series and the movie. This video let me know a bit more about him.

👉 Why I think Constantine is Not That Popular Outside of Comics

So in the latter part of this interview something clicked in my mind. Suddenly I realized why Constantine is not that popular to others.

Here's why: He's a DC superhero that acts like an exorcist priest or something quite like that. No wonder I like it a lot but there's only 1 season of the live action TV series!!!

    source

Constantine 2 (movie) is supposedly in the works and I wonder if Shia LaBeouf will be in it. I hope so. Even just a cameo would be great!

The reason I think he isn't that much liked by all is because he gets to fight the devil. He exorcises evil spirits or demons, you know. Constantine is their enemy! Woohooo! Go Constantine!!! Such a brave character to be able to do what he does! 💪

And you all know how people are into being bad and doing evil things right? No wonder not a lot of people would like him. Why again? Well because those who are under the devil's spell would definitely not be interested in an exorcist fantasy character! 😂

Those who are sinful and love to do crime or whatever definitely won't like him. Can you imagine a criminal or devil lover adoring Constantine? I have yet to see a post by such a person. 😆

Keanu Reeves as Constantine is the best! 😍

Omg I love him as Constantine. Super duuuuper. ❤️ I love the movie. It's just way up there on my list. Imagine an ordinary man can exorcise a demon?! Oh yes pls!!!

I really cannot wait for the second movie!!! Come on, if you are also a fan of the movie let's keep on letting the movie studio and other people know about it! Hopefully it would make the sequel production faster? 😁

Comic version lovers may disagree with me of course. They prefer the blond and British original characterization. I also like that version but I prefer the movie one the most. Hehe.

Did You Know, Exorcists are Now Finally Being Interviewed on YouTube!

Yes folks. I've been watching them since this Lent. And yes it helped me fight the devils around me. You can read my story in my previous posts. (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3)

You can really see how the world is changing now. Everything is slowly coming out it seems. Imagine, exorcists are sharing more and becoming mainstream content! Oh la la.

New Age shizz are also growing. I know because I've seen enough. Come on I even watch Matias de Stefano stuff. If you're a sucker for anything fantasy and sci-fi of course you also can't help but read many things. 😆 Just take everything with a grain of salt and you should be fine too.

Anyway I'm happy to say we also have local exorcist priests going mainstream now. Haha. Of course it's not a joke or a laughing matter but hey I love watching interviews! One of the first I watched is the interview by Christian Esguerra. However I will share with you an English one by non-Filipino interviewers so more people can understand what they're talking about.

So Now Can You Finally See Why There's Fewer Content of Constantine Around?

Not that he's holy or whatever but of course anything against the demon is not prevalent in mainstream media. You see all kinds of devil related shows that more people watch without batting an eyelash. A lot of people even watch horror films like there's no tomorrow. There's also Halloween and dressing up as evil beings, oh man. 😂

Even anime contains more demon stuff than holy and pro-God things. 😂 Of course it is no wonder then that Constantine has not gotten a sequel until now. Yes yes there's one in the works but it's been a long time coming. Way too long in fact. I'd rather exchange the John Wick movies for more Constantine ones in a heartbeat.

How about you? What's your take on Constantine?
    XOXO, @artgirl

Choosing a Keanu Reeves movie is reviewing a good set of them, but without a doubt I lean towards Constantine, I think it is my favorite, every time it is shown on television I see it. CineTV Contest #54 - Favorite Keanu Reeves Movie this week brings us this great actor from We always hear good things about him.

Inviting friends @purrix and @leticiapereira to participate.

    Fuente/Source

Our John Constantine has been to hell and back.

This phrase catches their attention, I also its paranormal theme, that world of other dimensions, the fight between good and evil is very attractive and the way they present it where they give us information about that other world.

Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has been born with a gift that he did not ask for, he has the ability to see both angels and demons that walk the earth under a human aspect.

Desperate, he took his own life and discovered that this world that terrified him and that no one believed him, did exist. The medicine brought him back. When he recovered, he decided to accept his gift and find a way to learn from this experience, trying to earn points by sending those demons back and thus helping other people.

Constantine has flaws, he is not a normal human, he smokes, drinks excessively, he does not take care of himself, he does not want human recognition and he does not want to be seen as a saint by the people he saves.

This messy life will take its toll again, he wants a postponement of his cancer.

We see how a young woman jumps from a large building and we soon find out what she has to do with the scene when we see a skeptical policewoman (Raquel Weisz as Angela Dodson) enter as her twin sister.

    Fuente/Source

Coincidence of strange messages and a dream make her look for information from that paranormal world, since she does not believe that her sister had committed suicide and ends up finding the name of Constantine.

The film takes place in the city of Los Angeles. After their meeting, they are trapped in a series of supernatural events, which for Ángela does not seem normal. Together they will take the road to find out why Angela's twin sister took her own life and is in hell without the right by the Catholic Church to enter heaven.

Angela with the help of Constantine remembers again that she was also psychic in her childhood but that she put a veil to not look at him anymore.

Now they will try to save the sister, which is difficult since the very son of the devil wants to pass into this world and needs a psychic to do it.

    Fuente/Source

One of the most striking scenes is when the devil goes up to take the soul of Constantine, who has cut his veins, before the sincere request before God, to help him save them. Constantine becomes so heavy that the devil can't take him to his kingdom and since he doesn't want to lose, a great miracle happens.

I keep reading for when they make a second part that will surely catch us all.

    Fuente/Source

  8. CineTV Contest: Constantine the movie that made me appreciate the performance of Keanu Reeves@irenenavarroart1181d

Greetings movie lovers, the theme of the weekly Cinetv contest is very good, because it invites us to share a movie by Keanu Reeves, an actor that I did not like many years ago, that is, I had seen movies where his acting was very good but He didn't shine as much because he was next to actors who shone like never before in their respective performances, that is, in my opinion he was overshadowed, an example of this is the movie Point Break, a wonderful action story about some bank robbers where the policeman The protagonist was Keanu but the leader of the thieves was Patrick Swayze, of course the latter was great and had the most emotionally demanding role, so in my opinion Keanu had no chance of being seen if Patrick was by his side, however Keanu did an excellent job just like he did in Speed, but in this one the brilliant leading role was for Sandra Bullock, on the other hand one of my favorite movies of all time also has the participation of Keanu Reeves, but for me his character sadly fades into the background alongside living legend Gary Oldman in the role of Dracula. That is why many years passed before I saw the movie that would forever change my perception of Keanu Reeves and make him one of my favorite actors, this movie is Constantine where he shone as an actor in all his splendor.

Constantine is a movie that has a theme related to belief in God, Satan and of course heaven, hell and angels, it is ironic that I am not a believer and I like this movie, but I have always liked these movies that show the struggle of good against evil as something that is at a much higher level than humans, for me it is obviously fiction but loaded with a theoretical basis that really exists, that is, religion exists for what people's beliefs constitute a fact real social that is manifested in their daily actions, because to a large extent the good or bad actions of people will always depend on their belief system.

The film is about John Constantine, a man who is dedicated to exorcisms, because angels and demons fight for the souls of humans, so he expels the demons that have possessed people to prevent the souls from going to hell , this seems to be a difficult task but he has had the gift of seeing demons since he was a child, product of his suffering, loneliness and misunderstanding as a teenager he tried to commit suicide by going to hell for a short period of time on earth but very long in hell, when he is saved by doctors from death, he realizes that being a suicide has guaranteed him entry to hell, so he becomes an exorcist to try to save his soul, but his motives being in a certain way God keeps denying himself the chance to get into heaven when he dies, which is kind of a race against time because John as an adult is suffering from lung cancer from smoking so much.

    image.png

    Source

Many other things happen with Constantine in the film but my intention is not to summarize but to put them in context, since the protagonist tries to help a police officer whose sister has supposedly committed suicide, but in the process he discovers a kind of demon revolution who try to reincarnate the son of Satan on earth. But in the end everything is a plot where the same angel is involved, like things that happen in real life, the good guys are not always good and the bad guys are sometimes just misunderstood but somehow less hypocritical.

The film deals with extremely important issues of human nature, many times people do good things because that is what is expected of them, because being good guarantees them a place in heaven, but I have always questioned that goodness, for me It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person, because being a good person should be something that the person decides for himself, not because a religion asks him to be good and in exchange offers him a prize (heaven), the best example is that the Angel tells John that he cannot enter heaven because he does good things but not to do it for sacrifice, almost at the end John manages to have almost assured entry to heaven when he is dying and makes a kind of negotiation with Satan, where he He asks in exchange for his sacrifice that Satan release the soul of the young sister of the police from hell, that is to say, for the first time John sacrifices himself for the welfare of another soul, that expresses the reason why I consider that people really good does things for others without expecting anything in return or expecting to go to heaven for their actions.

  9. Constantine (film, 2005)@florenceboens1405d

    peter_stormare_22801_11.webp Source Peter Stormare

  10. Constantine (2005) - One of my favorite movies.@valentin861761d

Constantine (2005) - One of my favorite movies.

**Hi all. In this post i will try to expose a small review of a very good action artistic film, one of the most favorite films i had the pleasure to watch. Honestly, it's been a good few years since i saw this movie. I liked it and i don't consider it horror, it's more of an adventure, a mystery.** **The movie, as you can see from the title of this post, is called Constantine - it's a 2005 American action-fantasy film based entirely on comics, Hellblazer published by Vertigo Comics. This cinematic creation deserves that precious time - it contains scenes with many doses of black humor, sharp and appropriate lines, Keanu Reeves' charisma is indispensable, exceptional performances by all the other actors, effective music and directing at an intense level. So, i would have liked there to be a second part of this film with the same actor in the lead role.**https://youtu.be/XG3rvdwJ9N4 **A small summary of this fantastic film.** >*The film portrays the main character, John Constantine as a cynic who has that paranormal ability to communicate with those angels and demons who walk the earth in human skin, seeing them in their true form. He seeks salvation from eternal damnation in hell for a suicide attempt in his youth. Constantine deals with exorcisms of demons that he sends back to Hell, in his attempt to win the favor of Heaven, but he gets more and more tired over time.*

Considering the fact that two well-known film actors (Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz) play in the film, you get the suspense but not like in other films of this kind - the special effects are good and the theme of the film is quite interesting. The story of the film is a bit more complex but not boring at all, and the horror scenes are from my point of view quite weak and a bit uninspired, in fact no scene managed to startle me, to give me that intense state of fear.

When a desperate but skeptical police detective (Rachel Weisz as Angela Dodson) asks him for help in solving a mysterious death of his beloved twin sister (also played by Raquel Weisz), their investigation leads them to the world of demons and angels that exist. just below the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Trapped in a catastrophic series of broken events from another world, the two become involved without escaping

**A film in which i was impressed with how the idea of hell was made and expressed. If you expect it to terrify you, i honestly don't think it's the kind of movie that makes you to be scared. It's a film full of tension, a combination of action, drama and supernatural with a significant dose of special effects that make you feel bad when it's over. It is worth watching at least once in your life, carefully in a quiet and pleasant environment.**
