  1. 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Season 10 Review@namiks3083d

    Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 10.jpg

After a six-year-long hiatus, season 10 of Curb Your Enthusiasm finally hit screens in all its ridiculous, ad-libbing glory.

Feeling slightly less like an anthology, this season follows Larry David's struggles of life while dealing with a fatwa placed on him during the previous season, in which he discussed his plans of creating a a musical called Fatwa on late-night television.

The events in the season still feel obscure, idiotic, and enjoyable to watch, but the comedy and twist-like endings in the episodes no longer feel as if they are on par with those of previous seasons; the comedy feels more so in the dialogue itself rather than the old-fashioned dialogue and entwined narrative that has you face-palming at Larry's dilemma as that famous music begins to play, and the credits begin to roll.

I believe that's mostly down to the fact that the episodes aren't as random as they used to be; there's an actual story playing out throughout the season that follows the fatwa. It's all a bit linear than what viewers are used to. Now, that isn't a negative thing at all, it's just a large step in another direction that can definitely be noticed. For a show that is in its tenth season, it's not that unexpected that it will start to try different things in order to remain unique and fresh, rather than fleshing out old ideas and stories that may seem a bit too familiar to previous ones.

The season, towards the end, starts to feel as if it's drawing in a conclusion, and if I hadn't known that another season was already on its way, I would assume that the show had finally told a story that finishes things up and finally lays down to rest. Given that it focused more on Larry than other characters, and with the narrative style, I wouldn't be surprised if Larry David really was slowly finding ways to bring the show to an end.

  2. Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 1 Review@namiks3145d

    Curb Your Enthusiasm.jpg

It has been seventeen years since Curb Your Enthusiasm first aired, and I am certainly not proud of the fact that it took me that long to finally sit down and let the awkwardness of Larry David bring me to laughter.

Larry David's past as the co-creator of the hit sitcom Seinfeld is fairly common knowledge, but his humour certainly extends far beyond the limits of Seinfeld with his simplistic thinking and sheer social awkwardness. Larry is the type to see a glass of water and not question whether it is half empty or half full, but to go deep into the silly perspective of both sides and come to the conclusion that nobody should give a shit: it's just a glass of water.

Curb Your Enthusiasm takes a look into the social expectations we have and how they affect our thinking and overall behaviour, but from the mind of someone that despises the common rules we live by, all while fully supporting them in his own way.

Larry is ignorant, awkward, and often rude, but as a viewer, the scenarios he winds himself up in seem to validate his perspective. His points on society and social interactions aren't just for comedic purposes, but are genuinely validated by how complicated everything really is. It makes the show incredibly enjoyable because they aren't just somewhat relatable hiccups in life, nor are they too unrealistic; they're a perfect blend of just about possible and ridiculous.

I'm certain the show will continue to explore the complex mind of Larry David as it progresses through the seasons, and I highly recommend finally jumping into the show if you haven't yet done so, especially if you are a fan of Seinfeld.
