Disenchantment is an American fantasy animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for Netflix. The series is Groening's only production to appear exclusively on Netflix; he previously created The Simpsons and Futurama for the Fox Broadcasting Company. Set in the medieval fantasy kingdom of Dreamland, the series follows the story of Bean, a rebellious and alcoholic princess, her naive elf companion Elfo, and her destructive "personal demon" Luci. Disenchantment stars the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Nat Faxon, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Matt Berry, David Herman, Maurice LaMarche, Lucy Montgomery, and Billy West.

Overall quite interesting season, but I leave it to viewers choice whatever how they feel about this Part 3 or as some people like to call it Season 3.

  2. [ESP] Opinión Desencanto Tercer Temporada - [ENG] Opinion of Disenchantment Third season@shadowmyst1982d

    imagen.png

I don't even remember when I saw the first two seasons of Disenchantment, that's why when the third season came out I didn't hesitate to watch it, the surprising thing is that it only took me two days to watch it, when I usually take my time to watch series, but each chapter's ending got me hooked, which made me finish watching it quickly.

As for the plot of the story I like how it has progressed and personally I liked to know a little more about Steamland, how is that place and its inhabitants, and why they want to take over the magic of Dreamland, however there are still dead moments, which has been a problem that has always sinned the series.

    imagen.png

I also liked how the characters have evolved, especially Bean, who from being a princess who only sought to get drunk most of the time without benefit has become a person who cares completely about her kingdom without losing her essence, but she still has a long way to go to mature.

The humor does not end and always finds a way to make me laugh and there are few occasions when I feel that the humor is forced or does not make sense, the series has been polished and that in many moments is absurd humor that usually is not usually funny to me, but in the series always manages to make me laugh.

Although now I didn't see so much of Lucy who I love that demon, but seeing King Zog was hilarious and that in the first season I really disliked him and in the second season I started to understand his reason for being.

    imagen.png

As in every season finale it leaves me with more doubts than answers and that's good because it keeps me to the expectations of what will come next, it helped me to understand what the elves were looking for, a little more of the secret society and above all to know more about the other kingdoms, but the doubts now are huge, I just wish they were not so few chapters.

  3. Disenchantment (Netflix series) - sadly, i am quite disappointed so far.@gooddream2689d

Keeping in mind that I have only watched the first 3 episodes I gotta say that I feel like giving up.

    [source](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/part-2-disenchantment-netflix-release.jpg)

Looking at the above picture I probably don't even need to inform you that this cartoon series comes from Matt Groening of the Simpsons and Futurama. The similarities in artistic styles are obvious and I didn't even read the opening credits or the description on Netflix and I knew right away that it was MG.

    [source](https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--eAG31dBu--/c_scale,f_auto,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/etnllnihz6lh9fukxhux.jpg)

The story follows "Bean" a teenage princess who rebels against tradition and civility by not really doing anything she is told and is also a gambler who isn't afraid of a fight or some booze. She flees the kingdom on the day of her arranged marriage with the assistance of her woefully naive and optimistic sidekick named Elfo and also a demon named Luci she encounters in a girt package. Her father, her husband-to-be, and their minions are constantly in pursuit of her as they seek to force her back to follow through with the arranged marriage in order to unite two kingdoms.

The problem I have with this series (thus far) isn't that it is drawn badly (I mean it looks exactly like The Simpsons) or that I am not a fan of fantasy because the opposite is true. I don't like it because it is meant to be a comedy and with the exception of very rare moments, it just isn't.

With the thousands of choices that we have at our disposal at all times on Netflix it is extremely easy to just tune out something unless it really catches your attention. I do not feel as though Disenchantment accomplishes that goal. I kind of suffered through the 3rd episode and honestly don't think i will return to it. The ratings for this show are actually pretty average with major review websites but it wouldn't surprise me very much if a lot of the positive praise is handed out simply because it is a Matt Groening project.

I'm not going to try to say it is horrible because I have only watched a few episodes and there are 10 of them. I may skip ahead and watch the last 2 just to see if I am completely wrong. I'll report back

  4. Disenchantment Review!@filotasriza32786d

I just finished watching Netflix's Disenchantment, so another day was spent sorely for my entertainment! For all of you that never heard about Disenchantment just keep in mind that we are talking about a medieval cartoon created by Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein, the creators of Simpsons and Futurama! The first season of the cartoon released at 17 August of 2018 and has 10 episodes that around 30 minutes long. Also season 2 is announced and will be out during 2019 with 10 episodes as well (maybe 11).

    Plot

The plot revolves around the kingdom of Dreamland and more specifically to a princess named Bean. She is a teen who has no friends, lost her mother and lives only with her father the king, so as you can imagine she rebels against everything. She is constantly drunk, blame her father about everything and has the usual teen behavior.

At the same time we get to see a far away land full of happy elves, singing happy songs and making sweets but among them there is one elf called Elfo that is sicked and tired of this and wanna see the rest of the world. He decides to leave the town and pursue his dream.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp_RnJcb8Ig

Meanwhile something happens and a demon called Luci pops out and is tied with Bean. The demon looks like a 2 dimensional shit so don't expect anything fancy. Elfo meets Bean and Luci, they become friends and till episode 7 we get to see them in many adventures completely unrelated to the plot!

    Thoughts and Spoilers

In a way you may say that Bean is the teen with many issues and Elfo serves the role of the good influence (happy-good Angel) while Luci is the bad influence (the bad little demon). Before i start mentioning all the bad things i should congratulate them on the great animation. Also the style that the castle of Dreamland presented was pretty amazing in my eyes, it reminded me of online gaming!

    The Bad!

Everything that's happening is quite expected for me. When i am finishing an episode i don't really care that much about the next one cause nothing bounds me with it. Also, that may be only me, but throughout the show i didn't laugh at all, not a single bit, not even a smile. In a way i even expected the jokes. It felt like they were trying to act funny with cliche jokes that we have heard a dozen times each, maybe i have watched too many cartoons and shows so that's why, or it's something else?

On A bright side, the last 3 episodes were totally different than the rest of the show. In these episodes many things happened that were unexpected and had some "plot twists". That makes the viewers wanna check the next season even though the jokes were a joke! (see what i did there?), just to find out what happened with some characters and what will be the final outcome.

Hopefully, the second season will skip all these unnecessary things and give more emphasis to the main plot of the show. Maybe all of this is happening due to the experience of the writers. When they have created shows like Simpsons with 600 episodes for ages, they sure don't know or don't care how to stay in the plot and just lean towards the making of more and more episodes! (so i understand them in a way

My rating will be a 6.5/10

  5. 'Disenchantment' by Matt Groening Review: A unique animation show for a more mature audience@namiks2862d

    Disenchantment.jpg

It's been a while since the legendary Matt Groening threw upon us another new animated franchise, and with the death of Futurama lingering on among cartoon fans, and The Simpsons' quality dwindling with each new season, it's nice to have something fresh, something... enchanted.

As with most western animations, Disenchantment is digital. It's easy to compare its visual fidelity to that of The Simpsons in its present state: it's nothing particularly special, but nothing all that impressive, either.

The show itself follows a sense of dread that it uses entirely for satirical purposes, and sometimes even a little social commentary, but of course you can't expect too much depth in an animation that's orientated around a naive and depressed elf, a problematic princess, and a cat-like demon companion.

With the first few episodes focusing on the characters and their nonsensical adventures, there's not much direction in the show, more so subtle mentions of what could be coming towards the end, and I can't say I particularly enjoyed it -- after all, I am used to Futurama and The Simpsons taking on the approach of having a different theme and narrative each episode, which I certainly prefer.

While the jokes in the show struggle to land, there's something about Disenchantment that has you wanting to watch more, something that holds you in; I believe that's the fact that despite its overall mediocrity, the show fills a significant gap in the more serious adult animation side of the genre. It is unique, and it overall is an enjoyable visual experience.

Disenchantment certainly feels like the spiritual successor to Futurama and The Simpsons, it holds many similarities and carries itself with the very same types of humour and themes; the only problem is it being linear in its first season, focusing heavily on the narrative towards the end. It begins to lose its charm, and it's certainly difficult to really care about the narrative alongside the nonsensical activities that occur in-between.
