Sometimes there are decisions to be made, some stronger than others. It happens in politics, in public and private international law, and at the level of health.

This movie is perfect to understand the dilemma we have lived through so far, and how the scheme of negligence, lack of humanity and the value of life is put at stake by a macabre virus. Someday we will find out the real origin of covid-19, but one thing I can say is that I will never believe that it was something natural. I would be too gullible to think that way.
Esta película es perfecta para entender la disyuntiva que hemos vivido hasta ahora, y como el esquema de la negligencia, la falta de humanidad y el valor de la vida se pone en juego por un virus macabro. Algún día nos enteraremos del origen real del covid-19, pero algo que si puedo afirmar es que nunca voy a creer que fue algo natural. Sería muy crédulo si pensara de ese modo.
Something powerful that this film emphasizes in a marked way is that incubation period of a virus; that is, if it is fast spreading it means that everyone can be infected almost immediately. This is a very curious aspect because it leaves a deep doubt in the brain.
Algo poderoso que enfatiza este film de manera marcada es ese periodo de incubación de un virus; es decir, si es de rápida propagación significa que todos pueden infectarse casi de manera inmediata. Este es un aspecto muy curioso debido a que deja una duda profunda en el cerebro.
I will focus a little on the plot outline to qualify the compact synthesis a little more: the plot focuses on a bioterrorist attack, a laboratory is behind it all and a madman spreads the virus in an airplane. How does he do it? I prefer to skip this part and let everyone find out as soon as they see it.
Me enfocaré un poco en el esquema de la trama para matizar un poco más la sintética compactadamente: el argumento se centra en un ataque bioterrorista, un laboratorio está detrás de todo y un desquiciado propaga el virus en un avión. ¿Cómo lo hace? Prefiero obviar esta parte y que cada quien lo descubra al instante de verla.
One point I really liked was to see actor Im Si-wan as Ryu Jin-seok as the typical criminal sociopath who is not capable of harming anyone. He had already acted in the movie: Unlocked; although Emergency Declaration was officially released before this one. The only difference is that it has currently entered the top 10 on Netflix of most watched movies in Venezuela. My interest came from there and from two people who reviewed it here on Movies TV Shows.
Un punto que me gustó mucho fue ver al actor Im Si-wan como Ryu Jin-seok como el típico sociópata criminal que no es capaz de dañar a nadie. Ya él había actuado en la película: Unlocked; aunque Emergency Declaration fue lanzada oficialmente antes que esta. La única diferencia es que actualmente ha entrado en el top 10 en Netflix de películas más vistas en Venezuela. Mi interés vino de ahí y de dos personas que la reseñaron acá en Movies TV Shows.
One of the aspects that caught my attention is the plot, and what would happen on the flight. It may be something that had been seen before; but the truth is that there is a difference from what has been filmed: a possibility of generalized inflection, of course, this is if the plane where the virus has spread lands somewhere in the world.
Uno de los aspectos que me llamó la atención es el argumento, y lo que sucedería en el vuelo. Puede que sea algo que se hubiera visto con anterioridad; pero la verdad es que existe una diferencia de lo que se ha rodado: una posibilidad de inflexión generalizada, claro, esto si el avión en donde el virus se ha propagado aterriza en algún lugar del mundo.
It is not strange, and believe me, that any democratic government or despotic regime would prohibit the landing of an airplane with a possible threat of a health catastrophe. This situation happened when the World Health Organization declared that Covid 19 was a virus, little by little the countries closed their airspace for fear of an expansion, spread and infection of their population, something that could in crisis the health systems. In my opinion, this film can be seen as something previous to reality, but made fiction.
No es extraño, y créame que cualquier gobierno democrático o régimen despótico prohíba el aterrizaje de un avión que posea una posible amenaza de catástrofe sanitaria. Esta situación sucedió cuando la Organización Mundial de la Salud declaró que el Covid 19 era un virus, poco a poco los países cerraron su espacio aéreo por el temor de una expansión, propagación e infección de su población, algo que podría en crisis los sistemas sanitarios. A mi modo de ver este film se puede visualizar como algo previo de la realidad, pero hecha ficción.
What is unfounded is how human life and its hierarchical value are put at stake. It is deplorable, it is difficult to assimilate, and at the same time it is understandable, but never justifiable. In the film, all countries prohibit the landing of airplanes with passengers at critical risk of death only because of a generalized fear of propagation.
Lo infundado es como se pone en juego la vida humana, y el valor jerárquico de la misma. Es deplorable, es difícil de asimilar, y al mismo tiempo es entendible, pero jamás justificable. En el film todos los países prohíben el aterrizaje del avión con pasajeros con riesgo crítico de muerte solamente por un pavor generalizado de propagación.
Most critically, one of the countries, even knowing the context of the critical situation and having received the emergency declaration, closes its airspace to flight number KI50, and uses its armed air forces against civilians: something that constitutes a war crime, a unanimous declaration of breaking diplomatic relations and the establishment of a warlike conflict. This part is subtly wonderful because of the themes of politics, law and warmongering in a small moment of the production. I dare say it was one of the moments I enjoyed the most.
Lo más crítico, es que uno de los países incluso al saber el contexto de la situación crítica y haber recibido la declaratoria de emergencia, cierra su espacio aéreo al vuelo número KI50, y utiliza sus fuerzas armadas aéreas contra civiles: algo que constituye un crimen de guerra, una declaratoria unánime de rompimiento de relaciones diplomáticas y el establecimiento de un conflicto bélico. Esta parte es sutilmente maravillosa debido al los temas de política, derecho y belicismo en un pequeño instante de la producción. Me atrevo a decir que fue uno de los momentos que más me gustó.
Now, the infection sequence is good, but it lacked a little more realism, that is, more people inside the KI501 flight perished. This, in my opinion, would have helped to compact more the aesthetics of the script and the argument that the virus was easy to spread.
Ahora bien, la secuencia de la infección es buena, pero faltó un poco más de realismo, es decir, que más personas dentro del vuelo KI501 perecieran. Esto a mi modo de ver hubiera ayudado a compactar más la estética del guion y el argumento de que el virus era de fácil propagación.
A relevant point is that you will see the actor from the movie Parasite inside the plot as a South Korean police officer: Song Kang-ho as In-ho. I was very pleased with his performance, and the best part was the way the emotional mix he possessed and what he does at the end of the plot is admirable.
Un punto relevante es que verá al actor de la película Parasite dentro de la trama como un oficial de la policía surcoreana: Song Kang-ho como In-ho. Me agradó mucho su actuación, y lo mejor fue la manera de la mezcla emocional que poseía y lo que hace al final de la trama es admirable.
The film makes you evaluate, and also tells you that democracy is imperfect. That is to say, the majority is not right: you will visualize this in a poll carried out to allow or not the landing of flight KI501. The blue house, its president, the prime minister and the cabinet of ministers are in a position that only makes them hesitate between the protection of their fellow citizens and the life of the people who are on a flight that can be the end of everything.
El film te pone a evaluar, y también te dice que la democracia es imperfecta. Es decir, la mayoría no tiene la razón: esto lo visualizará en una encuesta efectuada para permitir o no el aterrizaje del vuelo KI501. La casa azul, su presidente, el primer ministro y el gabinete de ministros están en una posición que solamente les hace dudar entre la protección de sus conciudadanos y la vida de las personas que están en un vuelo que puede ser el final de todo.
The honorability is also felt, I liked the nuance that was made with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation of South Korea. It is left that expression that she is at the collective service, that is, that she occupies her role as a public official. Very different from what we see in Latin America, but it is still fiction.
La honorabilidad también se siente, me gustó la matización que efectuaron con la ministra de Infraestructura y Transporte de Corea del Sur. Se deja esa expresión de que está al servicio colectivo, o sea, que ocupa su rol como funcionaria pública. Muy distinto de lo que vemos en Latinoamérica, pero aún sigue siendo ficción.
The interdependence of territories is non-existent, each country chooses whether or not to open its borders. The right of one human being is not above another, and sometimes extreme decisions are made, assimilated and split the soul for the common good. This plot shows that in a marked, latent way that makes you feel a pang in your chest.
La interdependencia de los territorios es algo inexistente, cada país elige o no si abrir sus fronteras. Un derecho de un ser humano no está por encima de otro, y en ocasiones las decisiones extremas llegan, se asimilan y parten el alma por el bien común. Esta trama muestra eso de una manera marcada, latente y que hace que se sienta una punzada en el pecho.
The answers are coming. How fast can everything be? Can the truth be altered? How many lives will perish? Will flight KI501 be able to land? Who will be the unexpected pilot that can change everything? Nothing is what it seems, we just have to look beyond the perceptual.
Las respuestas llegan. ¿Qué tan rápido puede ser todo? ¿La verdad puede alterarse? ¿Cuántas vidas perecerán? ¿Podrá el vuelo KI501 aterrizar? ¿Quién será el piloto inesperado que pueda cambiarlo todo? Nada es lo que parece, solamente debemos mirar más allá de lo perceptual.
