En esta semana tuve la necesidad de realizar reseñas de films que tienen historias las cuales creo que son interesantes y que principalmente no son películas con extensa duración; películas que unen diferentes géneros como thriller, suspenso, misterio, comedia y criminal; estás producciones cuentan con un buen trabajo de todas las personas envueltas, pero debo volver a ser referencia con respecto al tiempo de duración de cada uno de estos films y es que en este tiempo de Mundial de Fútbol, aprovecho el tiempo para realizar mis obligaciones laborales y ver algún que otro juego y por eso quiero ver películas que tenía pendiente de ver y que tengan historias directas y si son rápidas entonces mucho mejor; es por eso que la película a la que hago reseña en esta publicación es perfecta para este momento.

This week I had the need to review films that have stories which I think are interesting and mainly are not films with long duration; films that unite different genres such as thriller, suspense, mystery, comedy and criminal; these productions have a good work of all the people involved, but I must again be reference with respect to the duration time of each of these films and is that in this time of World Cup, I take the time to perform my work obligations and see some other game and so I want to see movies that I had pending to see and have direct stories and if they are fast then much better; that is why the film that I review in this publication is perfect for this time.
Desde el momento de su estreno en el Sundance Film Festival en el pasado mes de enero y subsiguiente estreno en las salas de cine en el pasado mes de agosto; diferentes opiniones positivas de críticos y público en general hicieron que mi interés creciera sobre esta película que narra la historia de "Emily", una mujer que por errores de su pasado, su vida se ha convertido en un espiral de fracasos y que al comparar su vida con otras personas siente que cada vez está sumergida en una gran desesperación que justamente la harán relacionarse con personas que no son buenas aunque eso haga que aparezca algo que Emily tenía escondido.
From the moment of its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last January and its subsequent theatrical release last August, different positive opinions from critics and the general public made my interest in this film grow; different positive opinions from critics and the general public made my interest grow about this film that tells the story of "Emily", a woman who, due to mistakes in her past, her life has become a spiral of failures and who, when comparing her life with other people, feels that each time she is submerged in a great despair that will make her relate to people who are not good, even if that makes something that Emily had hidden appear.
Este film significó el estreno como director para John Patton Ford quien también cumple la función de guionista en esta producción; siendo sincero, no creo que haga un trabajo excepcional en la dirección, aunque sí puedo decir que es correcto; creo que las tomas realizadas al final del film son las más destacables. El guion es lo que si destaco de Ford; la historia de este film puede ser una que varias personas del público podrán relacionarse y es que el tema de alguien que tiene una vida llena de derrotas y que busca una y otra vez algo mejor, seguramente hará que muchos se conecten con el film; ahora con respecto a otros temas como es tener una vida criminal y ver cómo ocurre un cambio que amolde una personalidad en ese mundo, es algo que me gustó y me pareció excelente.
This film was the directorial debut for John Patton Ford who also serves as a screenwriter in this production; to be honest, I don't think he does an exceptional job in the direction, although I can say that it is correct; I think that the shots taken at the end of the film are the most remarkable. The script is what I do highlight of Ford; the story of this film can be one that several people in the audience will be able to relate to and is that the theme of someone who has a life full of defeats and who searches again and again for something better, will surely make many connect with the film; now with respect to other issues such as having a criminal life and seeing how a change occurs that molds a personality in that world, is something that I liked and I thought it was excellent.
He visto pocas producciones las cuales son protagonizadas por Aubrey Plaza; en esos trabajos he apreciado un buen trabajo de esta actriz que cuentan con un gran repertorio de films y justamente su actual trabajo en la segunda temporada de The White Lotus ha recibido una buena aceptación entre el público que es fan o no de esa serie; ahora con respecto a este film y su interpretación como "Emily" pienso que es muy creíble el rol que debe hacer sobre una mujer que con 30 años de edad o más, todavía no encuentra cuál es su propósito de vida y es que al ser juzgada por los errores que cometió en el pasado, demuestra desesperación y soledad por querer tener una vida mejor. No hay duda de que Aubrey es la dueña de la historia y la evolución de su personaje hace que cada vez resalté más y es por eso que tanto la historia como el trabajo de esta actriz es lo que más me ha gustado de este film.
I have seen few productions which are starred by Aubrey Plaza; in those works I have appreciated a good work of this actress who has a great repertoire of films and just her current work in the second season of The White Lotus has received a good acceptance among the public who is a fan or not of that series; Now with respect to this film and her performance as "Emily" I think it is very credible the role she has to play about a woman who with 30 years of age or more, still does not find what is her purpose in life and being judged by the mistakes she made in the past, shows desperation and loneliness for wanting to have a better life. There is no doubt that Aubrey is the master of the story and the evolution of her character makes it stand out more and more and that is why both the story and the work of this actress is what I liked the most of this film.
Emily the Criminal me pareció un buen film, demuestra lo que la frustración, soledad, miedo y rechazo puede crear en una persona; me gusta como refleja la presión que crea la sociedad sobre la vida de cualquiera y de como alguien puede ser usado de muchas maneras para el beneficio de otros; eso es lo más importante de esta historia en dónde Aubrey Plaza hace un gran papel, me gustó mucho y a pesar de no ser héroe o una completa víctima, debo decir que empatice mucho con su personaje. Esta es la típica película de la cual hay que ver con pocas expectativas, pero es un film bastante correcto que no busca deslumbrar y que solo desarrolla una historia que cualquiera persona puede experimentar y por eso si quieren ver un film rápido, directo, con buen guion y actuación, recomiendo esta producción.
I found Emily the Criminal a good film, it shows what frustration, loneliness, fear and rejection can create in a person; I like how it reflects the pressure that society creates on anyone's life and how someone can be used in many ways for the benefit of others; that is the most important thing in this story where Aubrey Plaza plays a great role, I liked it a lot and despite not being a hero or a complete victim, I must say that I empathized a lot with her character. This is the typical movie that you have to watch with low expectations, but it's a fairly correct film that does not seek to dazzle and that only develops a story that anyone can experience and therefore if you want to see a fast, direct film, with good script and acting, I recommend this production.
