Ender's Game is a science fiction movie that presents an interesting perspective on the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth. In this case, the Buggers are an alien race that has attacked humanity and unleashed a war in which young people are trained to fight against them. The film centers on Ender Wiggin, a young prodigy who is recruited to join Battle School and lead the fight against the Buggers.

What drew me to this movie was the way the aliens are presented as a constant and omnipresent threat. Although they are not given much character development, their design is impressive and their presence in the film is always haunting. Furthermore, the film doesn't focus exclusively on the fight against the Buggers, instead exploring deeper themes like wartime morality and the nature of identity.

As for whether I would like to meet these aliens, I think it would depend on their intent. If they were peaceful and willing to communicate with us, I would definitely be interested in meeting them. However, if they were hostile and posed a threat to humanity, I would prefer to stay away.

As for whether I prefer funny or horror alien movies, I think it depends on the mood I'm in. Sometimes I enjoy lighter and funnier sci-fi movies, while other times I prefer something darker and scarier. In the case of Ender's Game, I think the film manages to find a balance between exciting action and the deeper themes it explores.

One of the most interesting aspects of the film is the way it explores the psychology of the characters, especially Ender's. As he undergoes rigorous mental and physical training, Ender struggles to maintain his humanity in an increasingly dehumanizing world. His relationship with his sister Valentine and his brother Peter is also an important aspect of the plot, as it shows how family can be both a source of support and conflict.

Another important theme in the film is the nature of identity. Ender is faced with the question of who he really is, and whether his role as a soldier fully defines him. The film questions the idea that a person can be reduced to his role in an organization, and shows how identity is something that must be built and maintained by oneself.

As for the production design, it's impressive and helps create a believable futuristic world. The spaceships and combat suits of the soldiers are particularly impressive, and the battle scenes are well choreographed and exciting.

Aliens are a constant presence in the film, but they are not the main focus of the plot. If you're a fan of science fiction, you should definitely give Ender's Game a try.

Are children the soldiers of tomorrow? Mass murderers? Questions that can become premises, depending on the approach. If our race is threatened by extraterrestrial forces, who would defend us? Under this approach, Ender's Game appears as another science fiction film. Precisely, the game is considered as a symbol of survival. This tape is an adaptation of the novel by Orson Scott Card. I cannot determine to what extent this film is faithful to the work, since I have not read it. Therefore, I am going to comment on the isolated product, which was presented on the screen.

The movie basically focuses on Ender, on his psychological depiction. The plot tells us how a teenager is sent to a military school to be trained and fight against a possible alien invasion, known as "Insectors", who have already attacked the earth in ancient times. In this school there is a group of gifted young people with whom he must live. This boy is recruited to be the next Commander who will fight for the destiny of humanity in a video game. His mission is declared from the cradle, since his parents agreed with the government that they would hand him over because they did not have permission to have a third child.

Asa Butterfield does an extraordinary job as Ender, he works very well as the main axis of the tape. Ender doesn't grow, but he does evolve. Commander Gaff's mission is to turn the sensitive boy into a future leader and strategist, which is partially achieved, since there are reflective moments that shake what he has learned. Harrison Ford does not disappoint as Gaff, he is controlling and totalitarian. Viola Davis (Major Anderson) also stands out with an excellent performance the few times we have her on screen. Also, the mysterious Mazen Rackham of the esteemed Ben Kinsgley, has a somber tone that gives different nuances to the film.

The relationship with his family is essential for the development of the plot, especially with his two brothers because their parents are characters from comparsa, they appear blurred at first, nothing more. With Valentine (Abigail Breslin) he is compassionate and kind. However, the relationship with Peter (Jimmy Pinchak) reveals other traits of his personality. Aggressiveness is present given the rivalry that exists between them.

The concept of reality can be disturbed since the line of alternative representations is unexpectedly crossed, leaving the question whether the actions are taking place in a tangible world or is part of the virtual fantasy. This element is detrimental to assessing this cinephile work in its entirety and plays with the viewers, who will find it difficult to build the puzzle with the few elements they offer.

The script co-written by Gavin Hood has some points in its favor. However, he leaves aside the events that occur on Earth and concentrates exclusively on Ender's training, who is not very convinced of his abilities and shows a certain sadness since the load he carries on his shoulders is heavy. in excess.

Another notable element of the film is the design, the aesthetics has striking elements that stand out, creating the illusion that we are inside a video game. Also, the film has excellent action sequences. Zero gravity simulations are very well done, reflecting the visual power of some shots. The soundtrack also stands out positively.

Why are star battles led by teenagers? Is the fate of humanity in the hands of immature boys? This view could be supported by the fact that young people can be malleable and manageable. Without a doubt, an adult can influence their behavior. Many societies consider that recruiting minors is the ideal way to have soldiers for war, depriving them of their childhood and distancing them from their daily lives.

In light of the above, an unavoidable question arises: Are pre-emptive strikes justified? The plot suggests that subsistence can be credited under this question. Humans fear the unknown, therefore, they use violence, exterminate what they consider a threat, starting only from intuition. If perception fails? How do I rectify the irreversible? Not everyone is aware of this, they prefer to avoid reality and not recognize that they have been wrong. An inappropriate behavior for a being endowed with "reason" and who believes he is "superior" to other species.

Manipulation is also present, Ender is pushed to the limit to make extreme decisions. We will see how he and the other boys are exposed to military cruelty, deception and other infamies, all under the motto: "The end justifies the means" The rookies are no longer human, but tools to carry out the final battle. The human side is relegated to give way to barbarism. Similarly, it is evident that without knowledge of the entire context, the options that are available as the most appropriate could change.

Ender's Game is not only a science fiction film but also has a reflective and philosophical tone. Once the protagonist realizes that he has been scammed, he has mixed feelings. His conscience eats away at him, so he acts like a pious being and decides to undertake an irreverent mission, against military postures. Since you think you have made a mistake.

Behind the above there is a clear message: acts have consequences and people must take responsibility for them. The standards of what is considered right or proper will guide the actions of individuals. Therefore, the central character is forced to abandon naivety and forge a weak character, where insults cannot hurt him. There its evolution is specified, a certain maturity is palpable.

In short, this film does not bring anything new to the genre. I will not deny that it is entertaining. Handle thoughtful topics that are interesting for heated debate. There is a tension that is drawn in a rigorous and competitive atmosphere, however, it is not a cinematographic gem.

  3. Ender's Game (film): such a disappointing flop@gooddream2855d

The Ender books are really something else. I can honestly say that they rank right up there with my favorite books of all time. The original book, which this film is based on has traveled with me to 3 different countries and I have read it I dunno how many times. Obviously, i am a fan. So when i found out there were going to make a film complete with massive budget, I was elated.

    f6cf092bf61007ede2ac25184c324363.jpg

The level of disappointment that i felt is likely a bit higher than your average person experienced because I had such incredibly fond memories of the novels and had this one been i dunno, A LOT BETTER than it was, we could have been looking at an epic trilogy and I would imagine that was the original intent. I don't know for sure, but much like when "Eragon" flopped at the box office (what a s**t show that movie was,) I wouldn't be very surprised if the remaining 2 movies have be shelved.

    80aa3cda-bed9-4c15-b8d0-7c11312f4eec.png

I generally don't appreciate child actors because I don't think there are very many good ones out there. Perhaps this sound means to say but for the most part child actors annoy me especially when they have some sort of military thing they are doing and there is no supervision from adults for the most part. Calling other kids "sir" and what not, it just seems dumb to me. I couldn't get on board with the Divergent series for this reason.

    1390316517984.jpg

I was surprised to learn that Orson Scott Card (who is a phenomenal author) actually wrote the original screenplay himself. Six of them actually. However it is unclear as to why or how (legally speaking) that the screenplay that was eventually used, was not actually written by Card but instead by director Gavin Hood. I would imagine this angered Orson because he has been exceptionally protective of his work and has turned down many offers over the years to turn Ender into a film. Card said in an interview that the script was "100% Hood's."

I am quite certain I am being overly harsh on this film seeing as how I am so attached to the wonderful book it is based on but even if you haven't read the book, i have a hard time believing very many people could see this film and think it was anything other than average.
