As many of you will know, this post is a continuation of my reviews on the first three parts of the Evangelion rebuild, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.33, although they are not essential to understand this post, they can complement its content.
10 minutes ago i completed Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.01 and I feel totally overwhelmed (In the best sense of the word), I debate internally if the best way to proceed to talk about the end of these rebuilds is to do it fresh from seeing it, or if I should let my feelings for the movie settle a bit.
I choose the first option.
Thrice Upon a Time continues the convoluted nature that blew more than one head with the second and third part of the Rebuilds, however, it manages to give us something else: Catharsis.
While it's easy to get lost in the thick lore and canon of Evangelion, the complex dialogue and points of conflict throughout the film are nothing more than an adornment for what really matters: Shinji finally dealing with the demons of his past. . The satisfaction of the resolution lies not so much in the end in isolation but in how it responds to all the events that we have seen since the series premiered so many years before, we have faithfully followed its journey step by step.
After so long being in front of such an optimistic closing is not only unexpected, but extremely exciting, it hits all the nails it should.
3.0 + 1.01 throws us good decisions from minute one, we managed to follow in an intimate way the lives of the characters that we grew up loving in an environment of normality, we have confrontations that manage to be more spectacular than ever and strong symbolisms that make each plot point a unique delight, there are set ups and pay offs everywhere.
Not only does she manage to be respectful to those who followed the story from the beginning, but she complements very well those theories that have always analyzed the more autobiographical side of Hideaki Anno's work.
Evangelion 4.0 is a beautiful film from any point of view, its animation is perfect, his music is wonderful, it is very well acted and it has a unique artistic sense of its kind.
Of course, the trip is for fans only.
Thrice upon a time can be extremely strange, but it manages to captivate us in an indescribable way. Everything is carefully constructed and responds to previously established points of argument. For those hungry for logic, more than one viewing will be necessary, but those who seek raw feelings will find them too easily.
It was a pleasure to have witnessed the new Genesis after such a long time.

Como muchos sabrán este post es una continuación a mis reseñas sobre las tres primeras partes del rebuild de Evangelion, 1.0, 2.0 y 3.33, si bien no son esenciales para entender este post, si pueden llegar a complementar el contenido del mismo.
No tengo ni 10 minutos de haber completado Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 y me siento totalmente abrumado (En el mejor sentido de la palabra), me debato internamente si la mejor forma de proceder para hablar del final del estos rebuild es estando fresco, o si debería dejar que mis sentimientos por la película se asienten un poco.
Escojo la primera opción.
Thrice Upon a Time continúa la naturaleza enrevesada que voló más de una cabeza con la segunda y tercera parte de los Rebuild, no obstante, logra brindarnos algo más: Catarsis.
Aunque es fácil perderse en lo denso del lore y el canon de Evangelion, los complejos diálogos y puntos de conflicto a lo largo del filme no son más que un adorno para lo que realmente importa: Shinji lidiando finalmente con los demonios de su pasado. Lo satisfactorio de la resolución radica no tanto en el final de forma aislada sino a cómo responde a todos los eventos que hemos visto desde que la serie se estrenase antes tantos años, hemos seguido su viaje fielmente paso por paso.
Después de tanto tiempo estar frente a un cierre tan optimista no solo es inesperado, sino que resulta extremadamente emocionante, da en todos los clavos que debería.
3.0+1.01 nos lanza buenas decisiones desde el minuto uno, logramos seguir de manera íntima la vida de los personajes que crecimos amando en un ambiente de normalidad, tenemos enfrentamientos que logran ser más espectaculares que nunca y fuertes simbolismos que hacen de cada plot point una delicia, hay set ups y pay offs por doquier.
No solo logra ser respetuosa con aquellos que siguieron la historia desde el principio, sino que complementa muy bien aquellas teorías que siempre han analizado el lado más autobiográfica de la obra de Hideaki Anno.
Evangelion 4.0 es una película hermosa desde cualquier punto de vista, su animación es perfecta, su música es maravillosa, esta muy bien actuada y tiene un sentido artístico único en su especie.
Por supuesto, el viaje es solo para fans.
Thrice upon a time puede llegar a ser extremadamente extraña, pero logra cautivarnos de forma indescriptible. Todo está cuidadosamente construido y responde a puntos arguméntales establecidos previamente, para aquellos con hambre de lógica será necesario más de un visionado pero quienes busquen sentimientos crudos los encontrarán con demasiada facilidad.
Resultó un placer haber presenciado el nuevo Genesis después de tanto tiempo.

For more than eight years we waited for this movie and recently it was released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video platform and I cried, I watched it twice, I suffered twice, but I can't express how happy I am that Evangelion existed and I could have had the opportunity to live it and this review is going to be full of spoilers, so don't read, but you still won't understand them.
In this movie, we are going to see what is left of humanity surviving the almost third impact where almost all living things were destroyed, but the Anti-NERV group called Wille managed to create a way to reverse the effects of the almost third impact and they are trying to prevent the fourth and final impact from taking place, where everyone is going to have to do their part, even if that includes dying or living.

Hoy les voy a hablar sobre la cuarta y última película de los rebuilds de Neon Genesis Evangelion: Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time. ¡Por más de ocho años esperamos esta película y hace poco llegó a nuestras manos siendo estrenada mundialmente en la plataforma de Amazon Prime Video y lloré, la vi dos veces, sufrí dos veces, pero no puedo expresar cuánta felicidad siento de que Evangelion haya existido y hubiera podido tener la oportunidad de vivirla y esta reseña va a estar llena de muchos spoilers, así que no lean, aunque igual no van a entenderlos.
En esta película vamos a ver a lo que queda de la humanidad sobreviviendo al casi tercer impacto donde casi todos los seres vivos fueron destruidos, pero el grupo Anti-NERV llamado Wille logró crear la manera de revertir los efectos del casi tercer impacto y están tratando de evitar que el cuarto y último impacto tenga lugar, donde todos van a tener que cumplir su cometido, incluso si eso incluye morir o vivir.
And that's possibly all I'm going to tell you about the plot, although several things will come to light as I write because my emotion is not normal. I LOVE THIS FUCKING MOVIE? I still can't believe that at last, the rebuilds have an ending, and above all, that it's a happy ending, without being overly positive or unrealistic, and that everything fits perfectly, maybe a little forced, but where everything finally ends and allows the characters and you as a viewer to go on with your life.
Shinji finally grew up, he matured, you don't know how happy I am for him, he was always one of the most hated characters in anime because of his depression, the problems he had with his parents, and that he needed to be told what to do to exist, well not anymore, our baby Shinji finally grew up, he took charge of his actions and finally we see him really smiling, fuck, his happiness makes me love it and makes me cry at the same time, finally Shinji got what he deserved, and we exist to see it.
Y eso es posiblemente todo lo que les voy a decir sobre la trama, aunque varias cosas saldrán a la luz mientras escribo porque la emoción que tengo no es normal. ¡AMO ESTA JODIDA PELÍCULA? Sigo sin poder creer que al fin los rebuilds tienen un final, y por sobre todo, que es un final feliz, sin ser excesivamente positivo o irreal, y que todo encaja perfectamente, quizás un poco forzado, pero donde todo al fin termina y les permite a los personajes y a uno como espectador seguir con su vida.
Shinji al fin creció, maduró, no saben lo feliz que estoy por él, siempre fue uno de los personajes más odiados en los animes a causa de su depresión, los problemas que tenía con sus padres y que necesitaba que le dijeran qué hacer para poder existir, pues ya no, nuestro Shinji bebé pequeño al fin creció, se hizo cargo de sus acciones y finalmente lo vemos sonreir de verdad, joder, su felicidad me encanta y me hace llorar a la vez, al fin Shinji tuvo lo que merecía, y nosotros existimos para verlo.
We will see a Rei Ayanami existing for the first time without Gendo Ikari's orders, and I loved her completely and cried, watching her discover the world, asking what a cat was, why small humans existed and if they had been shrunk, and the reasons for greetings, goodbyes, and the meaning of friendship. It was too beautiful and too painful to see her gain her humanity and have it taken away from us so drastically, but that was as it should be for she was just one of many clones who could not exist on her own for long.
The scene where Shinji crying asks her why everyone is so nice to him, even though the almost third impact happens because of his actions and millions of people died; and she replies that it's because everyone loves him, so simple and painful. I cried and felt too identified, many times we have a wrong perception of ourselves and it is when we face the reality that someone else put in front of us that we start to change and grow no matter what happened before.
Veremos a una Rei Ayanami existiendo por primera vez sin las órdenes de Gendo Ikari, y la amé por completo y lloré, verla descubrir el mundo, preguntar qué era un gato, por qué existian humanos pequeños y si los habían encogido, y las razones de los saludos, despedidas y el significado de la amistad. Fue demasiado hermoso y doloroso verla obtener su humanidad y que nos la arrebataran tan drásticamente, pero así debía ser pues ella era tan solo uno de los muchos clones que no podían existir por su cuenta durante mucho tiempo.
La escena donde Shinji llorando le pregunta por qué todo el mundo es tan bueno con él, a pesar de que el casi tercer impacto sucede por sus acciones y millones de personas murieron; y ella le responde que es porque todo el mundo lo quiere, así de simple y doloroso. Lloré y me sentí demasiado identificado, muchas veces tenemos una percepción de nosotros mismos erradas y es cuando nos enfrentamos a la realidad que alguien más pone frente a nosotros que comenzamos a cambiar y crecer sin importar lo que haya pasado antes.
We will see again many other characters, Asuka will continue to be the most Badass of all, doing things that no one else can do, we will relive her past and we will suffer with her without stopping; Mari will return and this time she will have a more leading role, I won't say more or I would ruin the ending; Kaworu will return and we will learn a little more about her origin as an angel, but the most important thing is that she always tried to make Shinji happy; we will see little of Misato, but we will love every second she appears, it is impossible not to.
Apart from Shinji's, one of the best character developments will be that of his father, Gendo Ikari, here we will have a little more context about him and his feelings towards Yui, Shinji's mother, and the love of his life. All the information we are going to have is going to change a lot of things, but Gendo is always going to be one of the worst fathers in the anime, and him apologizing is not going to change anything, but the effort is recognized and accepted as good final character development.
Volveremos a ver a muchos otros personajes, Asuka seguirá siendo la más Badass de todos, haciendo cosas que nadie más puede hacer, volveremos a revivir su pasado y sufriremos junto a ella sin para; Mari volverá y esta vez tendrá un rol más protagónico, no diré más o les arruinaría el final; Kaworu volverá y nos enteraremos un poco más sobre su origen como ángel, pero lo más importante es que siempre trató de hacer feliz a Shinji; veremos poco a Misato, pero amaremos cada segundo en el que aparecerá, es imposible no hacerlo.
Uno de los mejores desarrollos de personajes, aparte del de Shinji, será el de su padre, Gendo Ikari, aquí tendremos un poco más de contexto sobre él y sus sentimientos hacia Yui, la madre de Shinji y el amor de su vida. Toda la información que vamos a tener va a cambiar muchas cosas, pero Gendo siempre va a ser uno de los peores padres en el anime, y que se disculpe no va a cambiar nada, pero se reconoce el esfuerzo y acepta como un buen desarrollo de personaje final.
Evangelion is one of the best excuses created to talk about depression and the possibility of surviving it, I have nothing more to say, the truth, I just invite you to watch the three previous movies and finish watching this fourth one to culminate an incredible saga that has marked more than one generation, at least if you do not want to see the original series, because if you dare, go see it too and then watch the movies, you will never regret it, but please do not watch it on Netflix, that translation is bad.
Evangelion es una de las mejores excusas creadas para hablar de la depresión y la posibilidad de sobrevivir a ella, no tengo nada más que decir, la verdad, solo te invito a que veas las tres películas anteriores y termines de ver esta cuarta para culminar una saga increíble que ha marcado a más de una generación, al menos si no quieres ver la serie original, porque si te animas, ve a verla también y luego ve las películas, nunca te arrepentirás, pero por favor no la veas en Netflix, esa traducción es mala.
