Hello to everyone in the Movies & TV Shows community! Today I bring a new movie review with "Ich seh, Ich seh", directed by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, this German psychological horror film brings an innovative proposal to our screens: two twins suspect that their mother has been replaced by an evil clone. Released in 2014 and also known as "Goodnight Mom" will make us doubt about what is real or not.
In a first scene we see a little boy behind the passenger seat of his father's car. He is Elias. He is lovingly drawing a gift for his mother (a family portrait of her with her children), whom he has not seen since she decided to have surgery and now he and his brother Lukas are on their way to her house to meet again. Their father leaves them but Elias insists that they enter the house, however his father refuses and they go in alone but they can't find their mother anywhere. That is, until they enter her room and she appears with a strange appearance; she wears some kind of bandages over her face and is somewhat hostile to them. Elias and Lukas suspect that this woman is not really their mother.

El día de hoy traigo una nueva reseña de película con "Ich seh, Ich seh", dirigida por Veronika Franz y Severin Fiala, esta película alemana de terror psicológico trae una propuesta innovadora a nuestras pantallas: dos gemelos sospechan que su madre ha sido sustituida por un clon maligno. Estrenada en el año 2014 y también conocida cómo "Buenas Noches Mamá" nos hará dudar sobre lo que es real o no.
En una primera escena vemos a un pequeño detrás del asiento de pasajeros del carro de su padre. El es Elias. Dibuja con cariño un obsequio para su madre (un retrato familiar de ella con sus hijos), a quién no ha visto desde que decidió hacerse una cirugía y ahora él y su hermano Lukas, se dirigen a la casa de ella para reencontrarse. Su padre los deja pero Elias insiste en que entre a la casa, sin embargo su padre se niega y entran solos pero no encuentran a su madre por ningún lado. Eso, hasta que entran a su habitación y ella aparece con una apariencia extraña; lleva una especie de vendajes sobre su rostro y se muestra un tanto hostil ante ellos. Elias y Lukas sospechan que esa mujer realmente no es su madre.
A real nightmare is about to begin for the twins as this woman in front of them does not act like the tender and sweet mother they know. The one who used to sing them songs before bedtime is now indifferent, violent and rude to them. Her attitude, which apparently has no explanation for Elias and Lukas, will make the twins decide to handle the situation on their own: they must subdue the false mother in order to find their real mother, and this implies all kinds of actions. Between reality and illusion, the outcome seems to be justified.
A film that reminds us enough of Haneke's "Funny Ganes", with that of violently subduing the other (because little by little we can understand that resorting to such actions does not make any sense). Perhaps it may be bold to say it, but the film takes a bit of the narrative of "The Others". The truth is that throughout the film the doubts we have start to become clearer and the roles seem to be reversed at a point of no return. For the love of a mother is something that every child aspires and desires (besides being irreplaceable and incomparable) and Elias and Lukas will fight not to lose it.
Una verdadera pesadilla estará por empezar para los gemelos pues esta mujer que tienen en frente no actúa cómo la tierna y dulce madre que ellos conocen. Aquella que le cantaba canciones antes de dormir ahora es indiferente, violenta y grosera con ellos. Su actitud, que al parecer no tiene explicación alguna para Elias y Lukas, generará que los gemelos tomen la decisión de manejar la situación por su propia cuenta: deben de someter a la falsa madre para poder dar con su verdadera madre y esto implica toda clase de acciones. Entre la realidad y la ilusión, el desenlace parece estar justificado.
Una película que nos recuerda lo suficiente a "Funny Ganes" de Haneke, con aquello de someter de forma violenta al otro (pues poco a poco podemos entender que recurrir a esas acciones no tienen ningún sentido). Quizás pueda ser atrevido decirlo pero la película toma un poco de la narrativa de "Los Otros". Lo cierto es que durante toda la película las dudas que tenemos empiezan a aclararse y los papeles parecen invertirse en un punto que no tiene retorno. Pues el amor de una madre es algo que todo niño aspira y desea (además de que es irremplazable e inigualable) y Elías y Lukas lucharán para no perderlo.
Without a doubt it is a truly enigmatic film and one that even if you are perceptive, will leave you thinking about the apparent innocence, the weight of guilt and remorse that sustain a prolonged tension between the characters. As well as the cognitive dissonance that is a reaction to several of the events that transpire. Finally my friends, as always, everything is at your discretion and of course, I recommend that you see it at least to get out of curiosity. Sin duda alguna es una película realmente enigmática y que incluso si eres perspicaz, te dejará pensando sobre la aparente inocencia, el peso de la culpa y el remordimiento que sostienen una tensión prolongada entre los personajes. Así cómo la disonancia cognitiva qué es reacción de varios de los sucesos acontecidos. Finalmente amigos míos, cómo siempre, todo queda a criterio a de ustedes y por supuesto, recomiendo que la vean por lo menos para salir de la curiosidad. Entraremos en la historia de Lukas, quien tiene un hermano gemelo llamado Elías, justos vuelven a la casa de su madre luego de no verla desde hace muchos años, por lo que esta vez las cosas no serán como antes y su madre actuara de forma muy sospechosa.

Viajaremos en el mundo del suspenso, donde no sabremos a ciencia cierta que es lo que pueda ocurrir, un poco confuso los primeros minutos, pero luego del tiempo se desencadenará una ola llena de misterios y preguntas, una de las más comunes será en saber el porqué de las cosas y que es lo que le ocurrió a la madre de estos chicos.
Sentiremos también que la madre de estos chicos tiene cierto desprecio por uno de ellos, por lo que notaremos inmediatamente que su madre siempre le da la espalda a Elías.

Otro de los misterios que tendremos en esta película es el saber porque la madre de Elías y Lukas lleva una misteriosa y extraña mascara, a ciencia cierta no sabremos si es porque intenta ocultar su verdadero rostro o se trata de un tratamiento de belleza, pero me parece muy extraño que si se trata de un producto de belleza, tenga que usarlo todos los días todo el día, incluso no se lo quita para dormir.
Al principio creí que era por un accidente, o de sí se tratara de quemaduras grabes, eso lo tendrás que ver por ti mismo.

Hay ciertas reglas que la madre de estos chicos les ha dado, el cual uno de ellos se trata de entrar en un granero, despertando así la curiosidad de estos, por si fuera poco, también comienzan a sospechar que su madre en realidad no es quien dice ser, y esto se debe a los extraños comportamientos y las reglas que esta les dio.
También en el interior de este granero debemos de descubrir el porqué la madre les impide la entrada al granero, ya que esta película, como entra en el género de suspenso, nos obliga a pensar y descubrir los misterios que en ella se encuentra y nos ayuda a sacar nuestras conclusiones.
Pero no será fácil descubrir todo el misterio que trae, por el hecho de que te obliga a descubrirlos en la gran parte de esta película.

Pero las cosas comenzarán a salirse de control cuando Lukas y Elías entran a ese granero, mientras que su madre está descuidada, esto despertara más las dudas de que la madre de estos chicos sea falsa.
Más aún cuando estos descubren las extrañas conversaciones que tiene su madre escondida de ellos, pero lo único que hace que estos duden más de ella es la horrenda máscara que tiene, parece una asesina devora niños, de hecho, nada más con la portada me di de cuenta que era una de esas películas, pero no es así.
But things will start to get out of control when Lukas and Elias enter the barn, while their mother is neglected, this will awaken more doubts that the mother of these boys is a fake.

Los chicos comenzarán a desafiar a esta misteriosa mujer trabajando en equipo para poder librarse de ella, así que esta comenzara a reaccionar indebidamente contra ellos para defenderse, pero necesitaran algo más que un rifle de juguete para poderla detener.
Lo que si logro captar mucho es que uno de estos dos hermanos es el más valiente, de hecho, sin tan idénticos que difícilmente podremos saber quien es quien, por extrañas razones uno tiene la sed de justicia, mientras que el otro piensa y analiza las situaciones, puesto que su subconsciente le dice que algo está haciendo mal.
The boys will begin to challenge this mysterious woman by working as a team to get rid of her, so she will start to react unduly against them to defend herself, but they will need more than a toy rifle to stop her.
What I did manage to grasp a lot is that one of these two brothers is the braver, in fact, without being so identical that we can hardly tell who is who, for strange reasons one has the thirst for justice, while the other thinks and analyzes the situations, since his subconscious tells him that he is doing something wrong.
Intentarán escaparse en algunas ocasiones de la casa de su madre, pero las autoridades los llevan ante ella, haciendo que esto se sientan totalmente inseguros, pero lo que más me resulta extraño, es que estas autoridades también le dan la espalda a uno de estos dos hermanos.
Es como si hubiera hecho algo tan grabe que todos le dan la espalda, salvo a su hermano, a medida que vayamos avanzando en 1 hora y 30 minutos aproximadamente el misterio será más grande.
Esta película no fue muy bien valorada por los críticos de RottenTomatoes, ya que le han dado un 40% de aprobación de la crítica de los usuarios y tubo un 36% de la audiencia en general.
Le doy 3 estrellas de 5, porque hay muchas cosas que no comprendí de ella, también que le faltaron cosas que haga que llame la atención de la audiencia en general, la interpretación de los actores ha sido buena, pero el desenvolvimiento de la historia y el ambiente en la que se desarrolla no me convencieron como para darle más aprobación.
Sin embargo, considero que la película es buena para pasar el rato, es regular, por lo que no le puedo decir que sea mala.

They will try to escape from their mother's house occasionally, but the authorities take them to her, making them feel totally insecure, but what I find most strange is that these authorities also turn their backs on one of these two brothers.

This movie was not very well rated by the critics at RottenTomatoes, as they have given it a 40% approval rating from the critics users, and it had a 36% from the general audience.
I give it 3 stars out of 5, because there are many things that I did not understand about it, also that it lacked things that make it catch the attention of the audience in general, the performance of the actors has been good, but the unfolding of the story and the environment in which it develops did not convince me to give it more approval.
However, I consider that the movie is good to pass the time, it's average, so I can't say it's bad.

Tengo que confesar que hay cosas referentes al cine que todavía me cuesta un poco enterarme de ellas y el mejor ejemplo de esto es la existencia de este remake de aquella poderosa película austríaca del 2014 titulada con el mismo nombre. Recuerdo haberla visto y la considero de las mejores películas del género o por lo menos una muy buena por lo que nuevamente la curiosidad me ganó y me llamó para que le diera una oportunidad a esta nueva versión americana considerado la gran historia que es el film de hace 8 años. El tema con los remake es que en la mayoría de los casos, diría que en más de un 70%, siempre salen mal o son de una calidad considerablemente más baja.
I have to confess that there are things concerning cinema that I still find it a little hard to learn about them and the best example of this is the existence of this remake of that powerful Austrian film from 2014 titled with the same name. I remember seeing it and I consider it one of the best films of the genre or at least a very good one so again curiosity got the better of me and called me to give this new American version a chance considering the great story that is the film from 8 years ago. The thing with remakes is that in most cases, I would say more than 70%, they always turn out badly or are of a considerably lower quality.
Con este film pasa algo que creo que es su talón de Aquiles y es que tiene un precedente, es decir, para aquellas personas que no han visto la anterior, la original, muy seguramente esta les parecerá una buena película o por lo menos una que cumple con lo que buscaron ver pero para aquellos que si vimos la austríaca fue sin duda un pase atrás con respecto a lo que ya sabíamos. Honestamente decidí verla porque parte de su elenco está conformado por Naomi Watts y los gemelos Crovetti, quienes se están a dando a conocer en la serie The Boys. Entonces, valió la pena este remake? - pues vamos a hablar un poco de el y a descubrirlo.
With this film something happens that I think is its Achilles heel and that is that it has a precedent, that is, for those people who have not seen the previous one, the original, this will surely seem a good film or at least one that meets what they wanted to see but for those who did see the Austrian film, it was certainly a step backwards with respect to what we already knew. I honestly decided to see it because part of the cast includes Naomi Watts and the Crovetti twins, who are making a name for themselves in the series The Boys. So, was this remake worth it? - Well, let's talk about it and find out.
Esta es la historia de unos gemelos, Lukas y Elías (Cameron y Nicholas Crovetti) quienes un día regresan a su casa después de haber pasado algún tiempo con su papa, esto pasa porque la madre (Naomi Watts) decide pasar por un proceso de cirugía plástica lo que hace que lleve una especie de mascara/vendaje lo cual impide que se le pueda ver la cara completamente. La cuestión es que una vez se da el reencuentro los niños sienten que algo va mal, que algo no es como antes y que todo está totalmente diferente a como lo recordaban al punto de que dudan realmente si aquella mujer debajo de esos vendajes es su verdadera madre.
This is the story of twins, Lukas and Elias (Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti) who one day return home after spending some time with their father, this happens because the mother (Naomi Watts) decides to undergo a process of plastic surgery which makes her wear a kind of mask / bandage which prevents her face can be seen completely. The point is that once the reunion takes place the children feel that something is wrong, that something is not like before and that everything is totally different from how they remembered it to the point that they really doubt if that woman under those bandages is their real mother.
Es a partir de este momento cuando la trama comienza a avanzar planteando una gran duda existencial en estos hermanos por querer descubrir quien es aquella mujer desconocida, o no, que está viviendo con ellos y que según sus instintos no es su madre. Evidentemente si hay cambios visibles, tanto físicos como a nivel de personalidad, que son los que empujan cada vez más a Elías y Lukas a dudar. La confianza empieza a desmoronarse y la vida en aquella casa se torna un poco insoportable para los tres. Con ligeros intentos de terror y suspenso la historia sigue su curso hasta poder llegar al final de aquel misterio. Es muy difícil hablar de esta película sin mencionar a su antecesora pero es que la diferencia es muy notable, sobre todo en los dos aspectos que les acabo de nombrar.

Evidently there are visible changes, both physical and personality-wise, which are what push Elias and Lukas to doubt more and more. Trust begins to crumble and life in that house becomes a little unbearable for the three of them. With slight attempts at terror and suspense, the story follows its course until the end of the mystery is reached. It is very difficult to talk about this film without mentioning its predecessor, but the difference is very noticeable, especially in the two aspects I just mentioned.
Las comparaciones son odiosas pero necesarias, por lo menos en este caso. Aún conociendo la trama esperaba que el terror y esa atmosfera siniestra del film original también hiciera acto de presencia pero no fue así, por el contrario la sentí muy floja y sin nada de tensión ni angustia, no hubo nada que me pusiera nervioso, ni mucho menos que me enganchara, me aburrió. Me impresiona como pueden tener la capacidad de dañar o hacer tan mal una película que está más que consolidada como de las mejores en este genero. Pero todo esto no quiere decir que este film no intente ser bueno y atrapante, si creo que hay una intención de querer llenar de miedo e intriga las pantalla de los espectadores.
Comparisons are odious but necessary, at least in this case. Even knowing the plot I expected that the terror and sinister atmosphere of the original film would also make an appearance but it was not so, on the contrary I felt it very weak and without any tension or anxiety, there was nothing that made me nervous, much less that hooked me, I was bored. It impresses me how they can have the ability to damage or make so badly a film that is more than consolidated as one of the best in this genre. But all this does not mean that this film does not try to be good and catching, if I think there is an intention of wanting to fill the screen with fear and intrigue of the viewers.
Como dije anteriormente, esta opinión que estoy dando está condicionada, no puede ser la misma a la de una persona que no sepa nada de esta "franquicia" y que esté viendo esta película por primera vez. Puede que a esas personas les guste y les llame la atención porque la trama es bastante interesante, hay que decirlo; y considero que puede ser un buen comienzo o introducción a esta historia, lo que les tocaría hacer ahora es buscar la original y comparar. Por ejemplo, en aquella del 2014 hay varias escenas un poco perturbadoras, escenas que pueden llegar a incomodar, en esta nueva adaptación no vemos nada de eso, si bien es verdad hay una que otra que busca crear cierta incomodidad ese nivel de terror puro está un poco ausente.
As I said before, this opinion I am giving is conditioned, it cannot be the same to a person who knows nothing about this "franchise" and is watching this movie for the first time. Those people may like it and it may catch their attention because the plot is quite interesting, it must be said; and I consider that it can be a good start or introduction to this story, what they would have to do now is to look for the original and compare. For example, in that of 2014 there are several scenes a little disturbing, scenes that can become uncomfortable, in this new adaptation we do not see any of that, although it is true that there is one or another that seeks to create some discomfort that level of pure terror is a little absent.
En cuanto a los personajes creo que es de lo mejor que tiene esta película para ofrecernos, la verdad es que el trabajo de Naomi como el de los gemelos es bastante bueno y aceptable. La madre es una persona que lleva una carga muy poderosa sobre sus hombros por lo que parte de su comportamiento se debe a ese aspecto, es una mezcla entre una persona cariñosa, delicada y alguien que de vez en cuando saca a relucir su faceta más psicótica e indiferente. Es un personaje totalmente impredecible por el que en varios pasajes de la película uno no es capaz de empatizar con ella, es muy extraño todo. Naomi Watts es una muy buena actriz y en este film a pesar de que para mi se queda un poco corta, el trabajo que hizo es más valido.
As for the characters I think it is one of the best that this film has to offer, the truth is that Naomi's work as the twins is quite good and acceptable. The mother is a person who carries a very powerful burden on her shoulders so part of her behavior is due to that aspect, she is a mix between a loving, delicate person and someone who from time to time brings out her more psychotic and indifferent side. She is a totally unpredictable character for which in several passages of the film one is not able to empathize with her, it's all very strange. Naomi Watts is a very good actress and in this film although for me she falls a little short, the work she did is more valid.
Y en el otro extremos tenemos a los gemelos Crovetti. Ellos en la serie de The Boys hacen del hijo de Homelander, un personaje turbio y raro; pues Ryan pinta maneras para ser igual que su padre. Por qué digo esto? - pues porque en la serie ya hay pistas de que estos niños son buenos actores y también acá lo demuestran. Gran parte de peso de la trama recaen sobre ellos y parece que no tuvieron problemas con eso, uno es tímido y cauteloso mientras que el otro es más atrevido y audaz, no la da miedo nada. Este último es el que controla o sonsaca a su hermano de hacer esto y aquello y es ahí donde se genera un conflicto que determina el desenlace de esta historia. La verdad y a pesar de todo quedé complacido con las actuaciones de estos dos jóvenes, creo que la película no es tan desastrosa gracias a ellos y a Naomi.
And at the other extreme we have the Crovetti twins. In The Boys series, they play Homelander's son, a shady and weird character; Ryan looks like he could be just like his father. Why do I say this? - Because in the series there are already clues that these boys are good actors and also here they show it. Much of the weight of the plot falls on them and it seems that they had no problems with that, one is shy and cautious while the other is more daring and bold, not afraid of anything. The latter is the one who controls or coaxes his brother to do this and that and that is where a conflict is generated that determines the outcome of this story. The truth and despite everything I was pleased with the performances of these two young people, I think the film is not so disastrous thanks to them and Naomi.
En conclusión tenemos una película que tiene algo que no mencioné antes y es que cuenta con plot twist en su historia el cual es lo que hace que sea realmente valiosa, probablemente te lo esperes o quizás no pero sea como sea el caso es algo le aporta mucho a la trama. Es un film que pretende ser de terror pero que a mi juicio se quedo en el camino, hay indicios de querer crear esa sensación en la gente de que te sobresaltes cuando estés mirando pero por lo menos en mi caso no funcionó. Repito, si eres alguien que la vio sin haber visto la original dime que te pareció porque la opinión de los que si la vieron puedo estar un poco seguro de cual será.
In conclusion we have a film that has something that I did not mention before and that is that it has a plot twist in its story which is what makes it really valuable, you probably expect it or maybe not but whatever the case is something that adds a lot to the plot. It's a film that pretends to be a horror film but in my opinion it fell by the wayside, there are signs of wanting to create that feeling in people that will startle you when you're watching but at least in my case it didn't work. I repeat, if you are someone who saw it without having seen the original tell me what you thought because the opinion of those who did see it I can be a little sure what it will be.
Si no existiera la película austriaca creo que el panorama sería otro pero como no es así y si está pues esta se queda un poco en la sombra de ella. Puntos a favor? - pues las actuaciones y una que otras escenas en donde puede que haya algo por allí rescatable. Habiendo dicho todo esto le doy un 6.5/10, su principal dificultad es que tiene un monstruo de película detrás de ella y hacerle frente es algo muy complicado. La pueden encontrar en Amazon Prime y tiene una duración de una hora y media. Les pongo el tráiler para que pueden ver de que se trata y le echen un vistazo.
