About a year ago I was quite eagerly waiting for the premiere of Home Sweet Home Alone, despite how unnecessary it sounds to make a remake of a story as timeless as the original "Home Alone", there were a number of various factors that led us to feel at least a little faith in this exclusive adaptation for Disney plus.

The trailers and promotional material, although they began to indirectly inform us about the disaster that would eventually be released, at the same time showed subtle hints of potential, which, if well used, could lead to a film worthy of its predecessor.

From Archie Yates playing the leading child (remember his brilliant secondary role in Jojo Rabbit), to a series of cameos by various exponents of comedy such as Ellie Kemper, Kenan Thompson or Chris Parnell, they made us feel that everything was fine, it was coming. a sweet yet innovative homage, one that would build on the original John Hughes premise to produce a modern classic.

Unfortunately, the reality could not be further from this, since Home Sweet Home Alone was not only unable to be a sequel / reboot worthy of the misadventures of young McAllister, but it did not even work as an ordinary Christmas movie.

Home Sweet Home Alone has a lot of ideas that are interesting on paper, the script has disruptive and funny moments when it picks up a bit of rhythm, but it seems too intent on changing what wasn't originally broken.

The very internal logic of the work constantly shakes and it is easy to be confused by many of the creative decisions that have been made, Max, for example, as a character fails to find that middle ground between the irreverent and the lovable, something that never represented a problem for the Coulkin iteration in the 90s... Blame the script? Probably.

The idea of focusing a good portion of the footage on following the new 'thieves', as well as the decent attempts to make us empathize with them, is appreciated, however these are concepts that could have been kept with a much simpler and more enjoyable route.

As I said in my first review last Christmas: Its only virtue is knowing how to finish quickly. The direction is boring, the music is incapable of generating emotional responses, and the cameos and references to the two original films, far from making us feel nostalgic make us wish we were seeing them instead of this disaster.

Hace más o menos un año me encontraba con bastantes ansias esperando el estreno de Home Sweet Home Alone, a pesar de lo innecesario que suena hacerle un remake a una historia tan atemporal cómo a la "Home Alone" original, habían una serie de factores varios que nos llevaban a sentir al menos un poco de fé en esta adaptación exclusiva para Disney plus.

Los trailers y el material promocional, aunque empezaban a informarnos indirectamente sobre el desastre que se estrenaría eventualmente, dejaban entrever al mismo tiempo pizcas sutiles de potencial, que, siendo bien aprovechadas, podrían derivar en un filme digno de su predecesor.

Desde Archie Yates interpretando al niño protagonista (Recordemos su brillante rol secundario en Jojo Rabbit), hasta una serie de cameos de varios exponentes de la comedia como Ellie Kemper, Kenan Thompson o Chris Parnell, nos hacían sentir que todo está bien, se venía venir un homenaje dulce pero innovador, que aprovecharía la premisa original de John Hughes para producir un clásico moderno.

Lastimosamente, la realidad no podría estar más alejada de esto, ya que Home Sweet Home Alone no solo era incapaz de ser una secuela/reboot digna de las desventuras del joven McAllister, sino que no siquiera funcionaba como un filme navideño común y corriente.

Home Sweet Home Alone cuenta con una gran cantidad de ideas que resultan interesantes en papel, el guión tiene momentos disruptores y divertidos cuando toma un poco de ritmo, pero se ve demasiado empeñada en cambiar aquello que no se encontraba roto originalmente.

La misma lógica interna de la obra tiembla constamente y es fácil sentirse confundido por muchas de las decisiones creativas que se han tomado, Max, por ejemplo, como personaje fracasa en encontrar ese punto medio entre lo irreverente y lo adorable, algo que nunca representó un problema para la iteración de Coulkin en los 90s.... ¿Culpa del guión? Probablemente.

Se agradece la idea de enfocar una buena porción del metraje en seguir a los nuevos "ladrones, así como los intentos decentes de hacernos empatizar con ellos, no obstante, son conceptos que podrían haberse mantenido con una ruta mucho más sencilla y agradable.

Cómo lo dije en mi primer review la navidad pasada: Su única virtud es saber terminar rápido. La dirección es aburrida, la música es incapaz de generar respuestas emocionales, y los cameos y referencias a las dos películas originales lejos de hacernos sentir nostalgia, nos hacen lamentar no estar viéndolas en vez de este desastre.

What I'm reviewing in this post is a movie that I've watched, namely Home Sweet Home Alone. This movie is the sixth Home Alone movie. You must know Home Alone right?? very very popular holiday movies. They have even been aired on Indonesian television channel many times. The previous five movies I had watched on television channel. Home Sweet Home Alone I watched on Disney+ on television. This movie is a Disney+ original, produced by 20th Century Studios. Of course the genre of this movie is family, comedy, just like the previous movies.

Yang kureview di postingan ini adalah sebuah film yang sudah kutonton, yaitu Home Sweet Home Alone. Film ini adalah film keenam Home Alone. Kalian pasti tahu Home Alone kan?? Film-film liburan yang sangat sangat terkenal. Bahkan sudah berkali-kali tayang di saluran televisi Indonesia. Kelima film sebelumnya aku sudah pernah menonton di saluran televisi. Home Sweet Home Alone aku tonton di Disney+ di televisi. Film ini adalah film asli Disney+, diproduksi oleh 20th Century Studios. Tentu saja genre film ini adalah keluarga, komedi, sama seperti film-film sebelumnya.

At that time I watched with Indonesian audio. This movie has the same pattern as the first movie, where the main character is abandoned by his family. This movie is considered so bad by people. So many people don't like this movie. Based on Rotten Tomatoes website, this movie received 15% Tomatometer from 67 reviews and 11% Audience Score from 500+ ratings. But in my personal opinion, this movie is not so bad. Well, here I will peel the good sides of this one movie.

Waktu itu aku menonton dengan audio bahasa Indonesia. Film ini punya pola yang sama dengan film pertama, yaitu sang pemeran utama ditinggal oleh keluarganya. Film ini dianggap begitu buruk oleh orang-orang. Begitu banyak yang tidak suka dengan film ini. Berdasarkan website Rotten Tomatoes, film ini mendapat 15% Tomatometer dari 67 review dan 11% Audience Score dari 500+ rating. Tapi menurutku pribadi, film ini tidak begitu buruk. Nah, di sini aku akan mengupas sisi-sisi bagus dari film satu ini.

They say that second parts are not always good, being so, less can be expected from sixth versions. Before I share my impressions of this film, I must make it clear that I belong to that criticized group of viewers who enjoy remakes and reboots because I am moved by emotionality, sentiment, nostalgia, what do I know, for reviving classic series or movies that I loved in the past.

Dicen que segundas partes no siempre son buenas, siendo así, menos se puede esperar de sextas entregas. Antes de compartir mis impresiones de esta película, debo dejar en claro que pertenezco a ese criticado grupo de espectadores que disfrutan de los remakes y los reboot, eso porque me mueve la emocionalidad, el sentimiento, la nostalgia, que sé yo, por revivir series o películas clásicas que amé en el pasado.

We are already in Christmas, and if we talk about Christmas classics, it would be impossible not to mention Home Alone as one of them, because since its premiere in 1990 it became a Christmas reference in movies and TV. Ya estamos en navidad, y si de clásicos hablamos sería imposible no mencionar a Mi Pobre Angelito como uno de ellos, pues desde que vio luz en el año 1990 se convirtió en una referencia navideña del cine y la TV. Desde entonces, _Macaulay Culkin- entra año a año a nuestros hogares cautivando a chicos y grandes, y sin importar las tantas veces que entre, siempre le damos la bienvenida encantados con sus aventuras.

The first one, after being left home alone on Christmas Eve while his family travels to another country to celebrate the holidays; and the second one, again on Christmas, where he mistakenly gets on the wrong plane and ends up in a different destination than originally planned; both, super funny and unforgettable. I guess you are already saying that these were not the only two movies of the saga, and yes, I know, but I only loved the first two, the following ones did not captivate my heart, therefore, they are not among my favorites.

La primera, tras quedarse solo en casa en vísperas de navidad mientras su familia viaja a otro país para celebrar las festividades; y la segunda, nuevamente en navidad, donde por error sube al avión equivocado y termina en un destino distinto al originalmente planeado; ambas, super divertidas e inolvidables. Supongo que ya estarán diciendo que esas no fueron las únicas entregas de la saga, y sí, lo sé, pero yo solo amé las dos primeras, las siguientes no me robaron el corazón, por ende, no son de mis favoritas.

Now, the fact that I am not more excited about the later Home Alone installments does not mean that I did not enjoy them at the time, of course, I gave them a chance, just that they simply failed to surpass the success of its predecessor, at least not from my perception, they were such X stories that right now I don't even remember them, as may happen in a while with the most recent movie: Home Sweet Home Alone.

I'll start by confessing that I had no idea about this release, it took me by surprise while I entered Disney + to watch with my daughter the movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, well, I was so excited to see that there was a new installment of the Home Alone saga, that I preferred to watch that one before the Marvel blockbuster, a decision that was not to my daughter's liking, and with good reason. What a disappointment!

Empezaré por confesar que no tenía ni idea de este lanzamiento, me tomó por sorpresa mientras entraba a Disney + para ver con mi hija Shang-Chi y la leyenda de los diez anillos, bueno fue tal mi emoción de ver que había una nueva entrega de la saga de Mi Pobre Angelito, que preferí ver esa antes de la superproducción de Marvel, decisión que no fue del agradado de mi hija, y con sobrada razón. ¡Vaya decepción!

Believe me, I am one of those who always look for a positive point in a movie, I always see something that I can say "good, but at least...", that did not happen this time, I did not get anything in favor of the story, I had faith that being a Disney production I would like it, but no, the only thing I could highlight is that I love Archie Yates since I saw him in Jojo Rabbit, and although here he continues to demonstrate his acting talent, the emptiness of the story does not give him merits.

Créanme que soy de las que siempre les busca un punto rescatable a las películas, siempre le veo algo que yo pueda decir “bueno, pero al menos…”, eso no pasó esta vez, no conseguí nada a favor en la historia, tenía fe que al ser una producción con el sello de Disney me gustaría, pero no, lo único que podría rescatar es que me encanta Archie Yates desde que lo vi en Jojo Rabbit, y aunque aquí sigue demostrando su talento actoral, lo vacía de la historia no le rinde méritos.

En, Mi Pobre y Dulce Angelito, una vez más el dulce niño se queda solo navidad, pues su alocada familia, que la noche anterior tiene una algarabía en casa y comen pizza tal cual pasó en la primera entrega, se van de viaje para Japón y olvidan a la criatura en la casa. De aquí en adelante pueden suponer que se acercarán unos ladrones a la casa y que el niño hará uso de su inteligencia y astucia para deshacerse de ellos; pues en efecto así es, la diferencia es que esta vez los ladrones no son del tipo que podríamos suponer, son tan extraños que no se dejan ni odiar, ni querer.

There is a lot to compare with the original version, but the scenes that should be funny are not at all, they do not convey emotion, everything is too predictable, the film becomes so empty and dull that it does not connect with the audience; my 8-year-old son, who loves the versions starring Macaulay Culkin, kept telling me: "this movie is boring", and yes, it really is.

Hay mucho que comparar con la versión original, pero las escenas que deberían ser cómicas no lo son para nada, no transmiten emoción, todo es demasiado predecible, la película llegar a ser tan vacía e insulsa que no conecta con la audiencia; mi hijo de 8 años, que ama las versiones protagonizadas por Macaulay Culkin, me decía a cada rato: “esta película es aburrida”, y es que sí, la verdad lo es.

The other thing, the appearance of a character from the past whose dialogues recall the history of the McCallisters, that moment is appreciated, it is nostalgic, but nothing more. Frankly, I found this film to be yet another blunder, which makes it clear that Home Alone was born and died with Macaulay Culkin at, end of the story.

Lo otro, la aparición de un personaje del pasado en cuyos diálogos se rememora la historia de los McCallister, ese momento se agradece, es nostálgico, pero nada más. Francamente, esta película me pareció un desatino más, que deja claro que Mi Pobre Angelito nació y murió con Macaulay Culkin, fin de la historia.

I have never been over-protective of the classic films that I have enjoyed throughout my life, I think in remakes and reboots as a way to bring certain stories to new audiences, although they are usually created with greed in between and never have many reasons to exist in the first place.

As you may have noticed in the review I made a few days ago of the first three Home Alone films (Two Works of Art and a Disaster), I consider the original 1990 film to be a timeless piece, a Christmas movie that has preserved its level and quality. that only reinforces its nostalgic spirit over the years.

The recent attempt to revive the franchise, “Home Sweet Home Alone”, premiered exclusively on the Disney Plus platform, directed by Dan Mazer and starring Archie Yates, not only reaffirms this, but also makes it clear that it is all about of a simple formula but practically impossible to replicate.

Home Sweet Home Alone may have stemmed from honest endeavors and a love for the franchise, but it absolutely fails when it comes to replicating its essence, leaving behind a bunch of ideas that make logical sense on paper but are fairly mediocre execution.

Unlike Chris Columbus's beautiful directing that turned a relatively low-budget film into a warm Christmas genius, we find ourselves in front of a bland and personalityless product that seeks to take advantage of our 90s nostalgia amid unnecessary references and breaks to the fourth. wall that do nothing but make us miss better times.

The dialogues are lousy, the characters that plague this work lack any kind of charisma and the dynamics that sustain each other vary without any kind of consistency, although the presence of actors of the stature of Ellie Kemper or Rob Delaney is appreciated. They obviously have little material to work with.

Home Sweet Home Alone is a movie that is afraid to experiment and without any entertainment to offer that may distract us from its own wacky nature.

A waste of resources, actors and ideas. Let's go back to the two original films.

Nunca he sido sobre-protector con las películas clásicas que he disfrutado a lo largo de mi vida, creo que en los remakes y los reboots como una forma de llevar ciertas historias a nuevas audiencias, aunque suelan ser creados con codicia de por medio y nunca tengan muchas razones para existir en primer lugar.

Como habrán observado en el review que hice hace unos días de las primeras tres peliculas de Home Alone (Dos obras de arte y un desastre), considero que el film original de 1990 es una pieza atemporal, una película navideña que ha conservado su nivel y que solo refuerza su espíritu nostálgico con los años.

El reciente intento de revivir la franquicia, “Home Sweet Home Alone”, estrenado de forma exclusiva en la plataforma de Disney Plus, dirigida por Dan Mazer y protagonizada por Archie Yates viene no solo a reafirmamos esto, sino también a dejarnos claro que se trata de una fórmula sencilla pero prácticamente imposible de replicar.

A diferencia de la hermosa dirección de Chris Columbus que convertía un film de relativamente bajo presupuesto en una cálida genialidad navideña, nos encontramos frente a un producto desabrido y sin personalidad, que busca aprovechar nuestra nostalgia noventera en medio de referencias innecesarias y rupturas a la cuarta pared que no hacen más que hacernos extrañar tiempos mejores.

Los diálogos son pésimos, los personajes que plagan esta obra carecen de cualquier tipo de carisma y las dinámicas que sostienen entre sí varían sin algún tipo de consistencia algunas, si bien se agradece la presencia de actores de la talla de Ellie Kemper o Rob Delaney es evidente que tienen poco material con el que trabajar.

Home Sweet Home Alone es una película que tiene miedo de experimentar y sin ningún tipo de entretenimiento para ofrecer que pueda distraernos de su propia naturaleza descabellada.

Un desperdicio de recursos, de actores y de ideas. Volvamos a los dos filmes originales.
