  1. [Retro review] [Eng | Esp] León the Professional | Even a murderer has feelings@jrjaime1045d
Welcome my dear internet traveling killers and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, many times retro cinema dared to take risks with different ideas that could be controversial and that is one of the reasons why I like them so much these films, which is why today we will focus on the film titled "León the Professional" that presents a professional assassin in an unprecedented situation for him. Without further ado, get your weapons ready, we are about to go out to complete a job.

The soundtrack is fine, it's not really something that really has an important weight in the film.

The world building is interesting, this not only features the typical organized crime and corrupt cops doing business with the underworld, in general it shows a society accustomed to death and looking the other way when doing something wrong in order to avoid being harmed, all this makes the film have a good setting to be able to develop correctly. The foregoing is reinforced with the multiple drug manufacturing houses shown and the constant presence of addicts, denoting a society with a boom in citizens lacking in integrity and morality.

I will divide this section in two because there is a point that I will touch on later that seems to me very well worked; In general, the plot is highly charged with violence, however, it is balanced with moments of both relaxation and drama that prevent the viewer from feeling saturated, in turn, it knows how to introduce interesting moments within the confrontations themselves so that the violence is not a focal point but something complementary which makes it look great. Based on the above, it can be said that its narrative is not as basic as one might think, this is because it focuses a lot on its characters and that gives it a very nice touch, ergo, the story it tells. it feels solid because it knows how to gradually build all the events it raises.

A separate point that I consider necessary to highlight is both the moral and principled conflict that is presented to the protagonist, at first he must weigh the fact of breaking his own code in order to make his life easier, and, later, he has a moral conflict about what he feels, seeing himself in temptation and delving into what is completely despicable but for which he is seduced on more than one occasion; The reason why this is so accurate is because it is an allegory to the struggle that we have all had at some point to remain firm and not commit something unspeakable, no matter how striking and inciting this may be, being a very well achieved parallelism. and highly excellent.

Both main characters constitute a very interesting atypical relationship because at times it acts as something paternal but undoubtedly points to something more platonic and lovers, this has a considerable weight in the plot because this is what conditions the plot and even It makes her move on sometimes. Individually, each one is also remarkable, there is no doubt that Léon is the one who steals the show as a result of his well-developed internal conflict, being, in turn, the one who gives a certain degree of depth to the character since he is the one who makes that he questioned himself, his morality and his lifestyle. Mathilda is not so endearing, although she does have one or two nice points that make her stand out and are not limited to just being a complement to develop Léon, this is more denoted when at the end she has a kind of catharsis with respect to revenge, being that gives a closure to the character.

Léon the Professional is a film with a complex message about how a particular situation can lead a man to introspection, he knows how to use his moments of action to generate a good drama that has some kind of meaning that is related to his moral conflict initial. It is for all of the above that it deserves 5 stars out of 7, a retro film that puts a complex issue on the table to which it decides to focus no matter how controversial it is, a film that invites reflection and that requires the viewer's understanding to be able to internalize everything you are trying to express.

Léon The Professional, Source of Image Edited with Paint

Léon The Professional is a film that yes, one of its great virtues is love, but the feeling that I keep the most is that the most important thing in our lives is death because only when it approaches is that we value what we have lived.

It has a dynamic that tries to give lessons, some better developed than others while we learn them with the protagonists, each person has simple details, sometimes without value for the rest but they are everything for that being and we can see that in a child, a pet, an object or even a plant which we care for with all our effort.

Powerful soundtrack with a song by Sting called Shape of My Heart, I have listened to it and in my case it does not reach me as before but that does not mean that this song is not significant and leaves in the viewer even more than what I already see which is enough and thus perceive all the feeling that the film wants to convey.

    image.png

    image.png

    Mathilda, Source of Image

A point in favor that not any film achieves is to dose well its dynamics because it goes from action, to life lessons, strong moments, some comedy and romance, all of the above that name is very well, it does not drown in one and leaves in oblivion to another or worse, presents it unnecessarily as happens in many other films with unnecessary jokes, this film does not do that, enjoy its moments of relief to the plot as well as its moments of consolidating its argument and story that wants to tell us.

There is an important aspect to analyze, this story presents an adult and a girl that yes, for the age she is, her mind is that of a woman but that does not mean that what is seen is correct.

Now at that moment that as a viewer you give yourself to believe in their relationship because you have witnessed how it was born, flourished and developed, it is at that moment that the film and the chemistry of the protagonists is full, joyful and satisfying because as a viewer you do not judge them, you accompany them in their adventure pleasantly.

    Léon, Source of Image

Natalie Portman as Mathilda and Jean Reno as Léon give us their hearts in their performance, Mathilda has an active personality who fully dominates Léon with her gaze and the latter is totally passive to the seduction of that look.

She may be a teenager but the background of that look is that of a woman who wants to get what she wants, many off-color phrases that I myself as a viewer do not know what to say and give very nice comic moments that lighten the plot.

Léon The Professional is a film with 9 little ones out of 10 where the character that holds all of the above on his back like an Atlas is Norman Stansfield played perfectly by Gary Oldman, with flashes in the plot and very visual appearances gives the solidity to everything I mentioned above to develop and makes us wish with all our strength that The Professional is finally happy and let his roots grow in the field of love.

Norman Best Moment, Source of Image

The spoiler zone begins to highlight those moments that I liked the most in the film.

The best part of the film in my case is not exactly love, nor Léon, nor Mathilda, I liked Norman and that moment when he gets high showing the pleasure that this pill gives him, I never get tired of watching that scene and the acting power of this actor in a character of power as Norman.

This character is a villain in its entirety, his energy reaches me as a viewer at that moment and I wait in the film the times he will appear because there will be scenes with maximum tension of which I like and so it was, the best in the film, argumentatively is its backbone because it gives meaning to everything that happens and also is a hypocrite with legs because he works as a leader in the DEA.

Mathilda's dialogues with a heavy adult tone are to enjoy in extreme, we listen to them and do not judge them, they make us laugh and in other cases Mathilda's look that is that of a woman transmits us that she is serious, she desires that man with all her being and wants to be completely his, it is crazy but that is what she transmits during different scenes like when in the Hotel she says that Léon is her lover.

The ending offers all the action we want because it shows all of Léon's abilities, it is action at its most powerful and although I think it is exaggerated, it is a flash to criticize because it is a scene to mold it to the drama of the situation because if Norman was shot as he was, I am sure it would have been in the head.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  3. Leon: The Professional@minhajulmredol1549d

The people who love action films might check this out, Leon: The Professional (1994) written and directed by Luc Besson. There will be three key characters, as our hero, there is Jean Reno as Leon, in the villain character there is Gary Oldman as Norman Stansfield and another key character is Natalie Portman as Mathilda as a twelve years old girl and that's her first film.

    wp2167384-leon-the-professional-wallpapers.jpg Image

The story progressed featuring Leon as a hitman in New York, who takes many contracts and refers to them as cleaning. Mathilda is a twelve-year-old girl, raised in an abusive family whose father got into some problems for issues with a corrupted DEA agent due to the mismanagement of some drugs given to him to hold. Her whole family was murdered by that officer but Mathilda was out of the home so she escaped and returned in the middle of the ongoing massacre over her family and she walked past her apartment and started knocking on Leon's flat to save her as they don't recognize her.

Leon did open the door and saved her but he was in a dilemma whether he did it right by saving her or he brought unnecessary trouble for him. That's where the story was getting more complex for many. To be honest, I didn’t like the approach of a twelve years old girl to be a hitman, okay I admit that her family was murdered and she was in trauma still it felt too much for me to digest. Well, Leon did agree somehow to train her to be a hitman, a cleaner, that's how they refer to this.

Meanwhile, during all of this Mathilda started to fall in love with Leon, that's another thing that felt unfit for me. I wasn’t ready to digest the love of a twelve years kid for someone of her age, hehe. She was claiming her as eighteen over and over again to be recognized as an adult. Okay, this love chapter, I didn’t like, felt inappropriate. Maybe it's just me who felt this way, others may have a different point of view on this.

You know, a good impression Leon made on my mind was his philosophy over a small tob plant that he takes care of. Btw I don't know why I felt Stan's acting was perfect, truly I didn't think he was perfect for his part and I enjoyed them too as expected.

As an action movie from 1994, this one is mind-blowing with the action scenes. There was a scene where Mathilda goes to Stan's office disguised as a delivery girl with a bag full of ammo to seek revenge by killing stan. Well, that was a mistake that trapped her and made things worse.

Overall it was a good one to watch but didn't touch my high expectations seeing an 8.5 rating on IMDb. Maybe those clashes of my personal feelings led me to this conclusion. I would rate it 7.5 out of 10. Watch it If you prefer action or thriller genre films. Happy Watching!

If you haven't seen this film I can't really understand why. I get it, it's not Transformers but it is much much better. This movie is absolutely perfect and I can watch it time and time again and never get bored. As a matter of fact I am going to watch it immediately after I post this.

    71f5y6yNE+L.UY445.jpg

I can't even correctly speak about how amazing this movie is. If I had to choose my favorite films of all time "Back the Future" would be number one and this would probably be in a 38-way tie for 2nd place.

The story follows a hitman that leads a low-profile life in a New York neighborhood that reluctantly intervenes in the life of a girl's family that just happens to live a few doors down from him. He has never met her or her family but they were involved in some shady shit and it wasn't her fault ("She" is Natalie Portman, by the way. If not for this film we might not know who she is and perhaps someone else would have been partially responsible for ruining the Star Wars trilogy.)

maxresdefault.jpg she is very young but absolutely incredible in her performance in "Leon"

Leon is played by Jean Reno, who (and I encourage you to prove me wrong because i would love to see it) doesn't have many inspiring roles except the one where he is almost immediately dispatched in "Hannibal."

His lack of real English-speaking capability actually works to his benefit in this film because his character is not meant to be fluent anyway and his involvement with Matilda (Natalie Portman's character) is endearing and at times rides a fine line at potentially being inappropriate.

Gary Oldman plays the role of "Stansfield," the detective with apparently unending police powers that initially is pursuing Matilda's sketchy family and ends up hunting Leon, who he also doesn't know is a world-class assassin.

    index.jpg everyooooooooone!!!!!

The actors are absolutely perfect for this film, the story is phenomenal, the soundtrack (which seems to be fluid, moving from scene-to-scene) is absolutely stunning, and the directing is second-to-none. There is literally nothing that could be improved in this movie. It is absolutely amazing and if you haven't "seent" it I strongly recommend that you forget all the other things I have recommended and START RIGHT HERE.

I have no idea why the name of the film was changed to "The Professional" in USA when the rest of the world called it "Leon" but whatever, it doesn't change how incredible it is.

Here is the trailer and if you don't go and watch this immediately, you are a fool
