My Take on Mashle: Magic and Muscles, and Its Characters@aikay227d
Hi everyone, let’s talk about the anime Mashle, Magic and Muscles because seriously , this anime series is pure cruise from start to finish.
So the whole idea of Mashle is simple but also very funny, yeah... imagine a world where every single person is born with magic, Everybody has powers, spells, wands, marks on their face… the whole package, Now imagine one boy in this same world, but with zero magic, Like he has none, If magic was Bluetooth, Mash’s device is permanently switched off, that’s our main character, Mash Burnedead.
Now instead of panicking or crying about not having magic, Mash just went the opposite direction, so it's he's like this, “Okay I don't have any magic? No problem then, I will build muscle instead.” and this guy took it seriously, He trained until he could literally break spells with hand, punch through barriers, and jump higher than people who can fly, this particular scene was crazy funny, If you throw magic at him, he will return it with gym strength, that's how he was, that alone already sets the entire tone of the anime.
The story kicks off properly when some kind of trouble forces him to attend a magic academy so he can blend into society, but how do you blend in when you don't even have magic and your only solution to everything is gym power? That’s how Mash starts living a double life — pretending to use magic while actually using raw physical strength to do everything, if a normal student uses magic to lift a wand, Mash will just flick it with finger strength, If they fly on broomsticks, Mash will literally kick the ground and launch himself into the air, The embarrassment he gives magical people in this show is undefeated.
Now let me break down some characters because they really carry this anime on their heads.
Mash Burnedead is the calmest troublemaker you will ever meet, He doesn’t stress, he doesn’t shout, he doesn’t even know when he’s causing chaos, this boy will break the school rules with confidence and still look innocent afterwards, and his love for cream puffs? If loyalty was food, Mash’s loyalty is cream puff.
Finn Ames, Mash’s roommate, is the normal friend that life forced into nonsense, This boy is always stressed, always panicking, always confused, Mash will do one stunt, and Finn will immediately start thinking of his life choices, but he is actually loyal and tries his best to keep Mash always grounded.
Lance Crown is the smart, quiet, focused one, he looks serious but his head is also not okay like the rest, He has magic talent and actually behaves like someone with sense, but once Mash starts his madness, Lance will just sigh because what can he do?
Then there’s Dot Barrett, the dramatic king, Hot-headed, jealous, loud, and ready to fight at any small insult, but he’s also hilarious, He acts like main character but we all know he’s just vibes and shouting, Still, when it’s time for action, he shows up strong.
Lemon Irvine, on the other hand, is Mash’s unofficial wife, The girl saw Mash once and said, “Yes, this is my man.” She’s sweet, extra dramatic, and always trying to help Mash even though Mash is slow in that department.
One big reason why I like Mashle is that the anime doesn’t stress you, You know some anime will start giving deep philosophies and emotional breakdowns? Okay not this one, Mashle is just “magic vs muscles,” and muscles are winning comfortably, The comedy also hits every single time, sometimes even too much because you’ll just be laughing back to back, especially when Mash does something impossible with a straight face, like he’s doing normal work.
Overall, "Mashle, Magic and Muscles" is a fun, unserious, easy to enjoy anime that just gives you good vibes and strong laughs, If you want something light but entertaining, this is it.

›Recommendation MASHLE: Not even the most powerful magic can defeat Mash's muscles.[Eng/Esp]@valsalazar290d
Hello again, anime lovers!
I hope you are all doing well. Today I bring you a recommendation for an anime that I saw recently and was so good that I finished it in no time. This anime is like putting the Harry Potter saga and the anime One Punch-Man in a blender and coming out with: MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES.
Mashle is an anime that combines fantasy, action, drama, and hilarious comedy with a stoic and anti-parabolic protagonist who defies the logic of the rules and convictions that govern his world. The story takes place in a world dominated by magic, with magical creatures of all kinds and a society composed exclusively of magicians. The story tells us about the life of Mash Burnedead, a young man who lives with his father deep in the forest, isolated from the magical kingdom and the rest of civilization. Mash's father, Regro, has forced Mash to exercise and train his muscles since he was a child, and he does not allow him to interact with others or leave the forest as a protective measure for his son. It turns out that in this world, all people are born with a mark on their face that identifies them as magicians.
But Mash has no mark, which means he is a human without magic, and this world is one that “perpetuates being born with magic.” Anyone who does not possess it is hunted down and subsequently killed, which implicitly means that people without magic are exterminated. But Mash is a carefree glutton and goes to town for bread rolls. Soon the police are alerted and chase Mash to his house and torture his father, so Mash goes to his rescue.
Mash has a confrontation with Brad Coleman, an officer with great magical power, who, despite throwing his strongest spells at Mash, deflects them with his bare fists. Unable to defeat Mash, Brad makes a deal with him, whereby Mash must attend a magic school and become a “divine enlightened one,” the strongest wizard of his generation, and in exchange, Brad will not pursue him and Brad will gain “status” by being close to Mash.
He accepts, because all he wants is to live a peaceful life with his dad. This is an anime that I loved from the very first moment. The battles between magic and bare fists are incredible and visually striking; there is a lot of comedy involved due to Mash's hilarious personality.
Mash is a protagonist with an unusual attitude in anime; he is stoic, imperturbable, and serene. He sees no need to use magic for everything, so the problems that characters usually solve with magic, he solves with his hands. His strength and endurance are not only superhuman, but seem otherworldly, so he confidently makes statements such as, “I'll beat you to a pulp with my bare fists” (he says this to the director of his academy, ha ha ha). But his strength is so great that sometimes he can't control it and ends up destroying things, such as doors. He never knows whether to “push or pull” them.
His passion is cream buns, and although he is not very intelligent, when it comes to buns, he becomes very intellectual. While others train with wands and grimoires, he exercises, which is why he has incredible muscles, which he nicknamed “Kevin and Mike.” It's very funny how he spends magic classes using his impressive physical abilities and infuriates teachers and students by not using magic, while skirting the “gray areas” of the rules and competitions. He literally crossed a maze by walking straight ahead and making holes in everything that got in his way, ha ha ha.
He was abandoned as a child on a rooftop until Regro found him and assumed he was abandoned because he had no mark, although his true origin, as well as the reason for his incredible strength that even repels magic, remains a mystery.
During his time at the academy, he will make good friends and powerful enemies, trying to survive in an elitist society based on “how much magical power you have,” while attracting the attention of undesirable people and secret organizations, and perhaps discovering his true origins, however dark they may be.
Mash has only one goal: to graduate as the best wizard, to live a pleasant life alongside his father, and to eat bread rolls. Despite not having a shred of magic, he says he will achieve it on his own: “with his bare fists.”
If you've made it this far, I hope you liked the recommendation and that you'll be encouraged to watch this great anime!
Have you ever had someone walk up to you and ask for an anime recommendation? Maybe they see you always focused on your device, binge watching anime, and out of the blue, they get interested. What is the first thing you think of when picking an anime for them? A gripping plot? Romance? Non-stop action or a well-developed character? There are so many things to consider. For me, it is the length of the anime and the plot. I want something that won’t overwhelm or bore them, and at the same time, something that'd keep them hooked from the beginning to the end. When it comes to non-anime fans, I am always very careful. You don’t want to scare them off with a 520-episode anime like Naruto, One Piece, or Bleach. Introducing someone to anime is just like teaching someone how to drive a car, you don’t start on an express road, you start slowly in a secluded place.
What is your go-to anime when someone asks for an anime recommendation? For me, it is Mashle. Mashle is one of the anime that brought me back to the anime world and made me an otaku again. I grew up watching Naruto and other old anime. However, it got to a point where I stopped watching anime completely. My memories are flawed and I don’t remember why I stopped, but it is probably because our TV got faulty, and I didn't have a cell phone at the time. I got back to watching anime in 2022 when a friend sent me Mashle. I got interested in it because it was just 12 episodes and the first one grabbed my attention.
Mashle is set in a world where everything revolves around magic—literally everything. People are treated based on the amount of magical power they have. Meaning, magic dictated power and status. In this world, there's a boy named Masle Burnedead who has no magical power. Imagine living in a world where you are different. Mashle lives with his adoptive grandfather who picked him up when he was a baby. Mashle’s grandfather raised him like he'd raise his kid. Despite not having a single drop of magical powers, Mashle works out everything and has trained his body to be machine-like. Mashle stays in the woods with his grandfather, working out and eating cream puffs. He knows if the world discovers his secrets (that he doesn't have magical powers), they'd come for him.
Soon enough, the world finds out about his secrets. Mashle is forced to attend Easton Magic Academy with the sole goal of becoming the Divine Visionary. How will someone without a single drop of magic thrive in a school for those with magic? How will Mashle Burnedead become a divine visionary despite not having magical powers? Mashle continues to work out, and one way or the other, he finds a way to survive in Easton Magic Academy.
Have you seen Mashle? What is your take on the anime? If you want to introduce a non-anime fan to the anime world, what is your go-to anime?

It's frustrating to watch an anime, fall in love with it, and discover that it's still being broadcast, so there are still a few episodes left before the current season ends. This is happening to me with several anime series I'm watching, which has kept me away from the community, but a few days ago, while I was talking to my son and we were looking for something to watch, he told me he wanted to watch a specific anime, so we started watching it together. I didn't have high expectations, but I wanted to share it with him, so I started watching it and ended up hooked on:
Mashle: Muscles and Magic
This anime, based on the manga of the same name, focuses on the life of a young man named Mash Burnedead, who is extremely strong and was born into a world where magic is everything and the laws that govern this world dictate that anyone born without magic must die, so his father keeps him hidden.
One day, driven by hunger, he disobeys his father and goes to the city, a place his father, for obvious reasons, has forbidden him to go. There, they discover that he is a human without magic, as he has no lines on his face (magic mark), unlike all magicians.
This marks the beginning of a change in the young man's life, as he accepts a challenge to attend a magic school and become a “Divine Enlightened One,” all for the sole purpose of getting the police to leave him and his father alone.
As the anime progresses, we see how the protagonist makes friends with Finn Ames (his roommate), Lance Crown (a wizard with two lines on his face), who is first his rival and then his friend, Lemon Irvine, who is in love with Mash, and Dot Barrett, a romantic who is first Mash's rival and then becomes his friend.
This young man immediately catches the attention of the director of the prestigious Easton Academy of Magic, Wahlberg Baigan, who, from the moment he sees him, notices that he is different and seeks a way to get him admitted to the school.
This anime has a huge number of funny moments, mixed with others where Mash stands out as he makes his way in the magical world with his sincere personality, winning over those around him because he is very noble and hates injustice, constantly defending those who are disadvantaged or threatened.
Now, while watching the anime, I couldn't help but make comparisons with the Harry Potter saga. For example, the academy is a boarding school and has houses, in this case only three instead of four, the uniforms are similar, the headmaster's suit and appearance, among other things, but without a doubt, with its omnipresent humor, it would be a parody of the genre, reinforced by the fact that the protagonist cannot use magic at all, so he solves everything with determination and brute force.
But even though it is full of humor, it has unique elements that make it interesting, such as the categories among wizards based on having two or three lines on their faces, the personal magic of each wizard, and a villain who turns out to be the protagonist's father and who has used forbidden magic, giving it a unique touch.
As for the animation, it's not a work of art, but it's enjoyable and there are details that add to the battles, such as when Dot and Lance turn into babies.
So far, there are only two seasons of this anime, and the opening of the second season is particularly catchy, so I'm now eagerly awaiting the third season in July 2025.
So if you want to see a different kind of magical anime, full of humor and epic battles, Mashle: Muscles and Magic is the one for you.
Mashle: Muscles and Magic
Ever since last week, my motivation for making reviews declined. Usually, per week I make at least two reviews, but unfortunately, my usual drive to create one didn't come to me. Not that I'm really affected by it, but it just felt odd that a week passed without me reviewing something. I still watched anime and read new updates from manhwa and manga tho. Anyway, today I attempted to make a review since just this morning I finished another anime. It's the anime that has been sitting on my to-watch list for a while.
It's kinda a rewatch, for I've already watched its second season before—yeah second, and not the first! My sister had been into this anime before, and upon knowing the theme, I got intrigued and watched it rather late with her. The theme was really interesting because it gave me Harry Potter vibes. I had a Potterhead phase before, and I really experienced staying up late at night just to finish its books ( ahhhh Goblet of Fireee!), so when I saw the characters in long robes with wands in their hands, the nostalgia immediately hit me!
However, there's something I'm curious about: Will this anime be only a complete rip-off of Harry Potter? Or will it have a twist that would make this one special? So grab your wands—I mean seats and join me as we find out the answers to those questions in Mashle: Magic and Muscles.
About the Anime
Mashle: Magic and Muscles is a shounen anime that first premiered last spring of 2023 while its second season premiered in the winter of 2024. It's a fantasy and action anime with a hint (or tad perhaps) of comedy. Its first 12 episodes aired last April 8, 2023, to July 1, 2023. Meanwhile, its second season, which is by the way The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc aired the next year, from January 6, 2024, to March 30, 2024. This anime is said to be a parody, and of 'course the reference is obvious. This 24-episode anime was based from its manga that was written and illustrated by Hajime Koumoto.
In their world where magic is the foundation of everything, your worth depends on that distinct mark you get. The more the marks, the more valuable the person, but what if you have don't havy any mark? Unfortunately, you'll be exterminated to maintain the balance and peace in their magical world. However, inside the deep forest lives Mash Burnedead, an unmarked boy with a deep fondness for iron and creampuffs. His foster father has successfully hidden him for years, but certainly Mash is fated to go somewhere else, a place where a magicless person would be less likely found and it's all because of his greatest love–his creampuffs!
With his existence uncovered, Mash had no choice but to abide by what the authorities demanded him to do. Relying only on his muscles, he is determined to do everything to protect his dream of a peaceful life with his foster father. Shortcomings after shortcomings came his way, but those weren't enough to break the will that was engraved in him. With his creampuffs and protein shakes, he is always determined to knock the stuffing out of them—no matter what and who it is.
Obviously, it's Mash who's the main twist of this anime because, without his odd yet quirky character, this anime would certainly be a complete rip-off to its obvious inspo. From the wands, robes, the moving newspapers, competition of the dorms in school, the owlery, the character design of their headmaster—it reminds me greatly of the Harry Potter series. However, their concept may be is similar, but these two are completely different. If Harry Potter is dramatic and somehow grim, this one is the opposite. Its theme already revealed that it's a parody anime so it wasn't surprising that there are a lot of scenes that are both absurd and hilarious.
There's no dull episode here because in every episode no matter how serious and seemingly dire the problem, Mash never failed to find an unbelievable solution. Further, like the usual fantasy, the characters were diverse and interesting—from an anxiety-filled boy, a delusional blonde girl, a hot-headed red-haired, a powerful boy with a sister complex, to our very own no-brainer but full brawler MC—all of them are interesting in their own ways. I definitely enjoyed how they interact with each other because at first, it's uncanny that these different people would be friends. I mean they're too different from each other, but anyway it wasn't a shock since most of the shounen have a very dynamic group of friends.
As for its art style, it isn't really that unique or top tier but it's effective in portraying the gag and humor of this anime. I couldn't help but laugh whenever I saw the students' faces when they saw Mash do something ridiculous and amazing. Also, the characters' designs highlighted their distinction with each other. The animation was so cool, and I enjoyed the matches between Mash and the villains because they're so fast-paced, and most of them ended funnily and unexpectedly. And before I could forget, the background settings were also enthralling. They're able to portray it to be both mysterious and lighthearted. Unlike the grim Hogwarts, Easton is much lighter and obviously, it's made to match with its theme.
Meanwhile, both the soundtracks from the first and second seasons were nice. But in terms of opening and ending songs, the season two songs are more memorable. Its opening song was catchy and boppy and since it has a cool tune it wasn't a shock that it once became famous among the anime communities. It's hard to skip it once you heard its first line, so I'm guilty of not skipping it haha. Also, the ending song may not be as catchy and famous as the opening but it's still as cool. Further, the voice actors really portrayed well their characters—like Finn's outburst, Mash's lying moments, Dot's delusions, and most especially Margarette's mothering times ahhhhhh.
He has been one of my favorite anime characters ever since the time I first watched Mashle. I don't know but I was just so attracted to his eccentricities; my sister even said that his character is weird and off-putting, but to me, he's quirky and fun to watch. Like he's so sassy and cool, and it's definitely entertaining to watch his monologues. Ok, ok moving on from him and to sum it up, this anime is one of the reasons why anime parodies are great to watch. The concept of having a magicless person studying in a magical school may not be that out of the box, but still, the way that it was executed was really engaging.
Perhaps the only flaw I find in this anime is the fight scenes are usually abrupt, you just get to have a few laughs after Mash shows his muscle prowess, and then it's done. It's not really a bad thing, but it just felt rushed. Setting that aside, this anime was certainly entertaining. Like I said you can't find an episode where you can't laugh with their silliness. With the main villain's appearance in season two, the plot was slowly moving to its climax, and hopefully later this year we all can look forward to its third season.
So if you're up for silly and funny magical adventures with a quirky MC and side characters, then look no further because this is your sign to try watching Mashle: Magic and Muscles!
Before I end this review, since I really like it, I'll share with you its opening song, so—
Have you watched this anime already? Or it is your first time hearing it? Well, if you have something to share, feel free to comment below. And that's all for now, minna-san~ I hope you enjoyed reading my review.

Hey everyone, dear fellow Otakus, I hope you're having a great time today, today I want to talk to you about a pretty famous anime, it became super famous for its premise and for the huge reach that one of its openings had, but after watching it, I want to share my opinions, today I'll talk to you about: MASHLE. If you like those epic fighting anime, shonen type, and you love a good parody, this one's for you! Imagine for a second that One Punch Man and Harry Potter had a son; that's how crazy and cool the mix is here.. it's about Mash, a guy who lives in a world where magic is EVERYTHING.. but here comes the different (or not so much): the boy was born without a drop of magic.. instead of crying or hiding, the guy took all that energy and put it into another hobby: a brutal physical workout!
Through sweat and effort, he developed a strength that is already from another planet... and let me tell you, Mash is not your typical shonen protagonist (or so I would like to say, if he didn't already have so many similarities with others at this time).. he's as relaxed as Saitama, the invincible hero of One Punch Man, and as calm as Mob from Mob Psycho 100... that attitude that doesn't bother him at all, makes him different in a genre that is always full of passion and determination... I found it super fresh—and at the same time funny—to see someone who doesn't get stressed out about anything, but who still solves problems that anyone would take super seriously... whether it's facing a super-powerful wizard or simply ignoring a small obstacle, Mash's relaxed attitude can leave you dying of laughter, and even inspired.
This anime takes all the action from classic shonen and mixes it with the magical, almost fairy tale-like world of magic schools. It’s like they took the idea of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, with all its weird stuff and mysterious rules, and kicked it up the ass by throwing in a protagonist who’s an idiot with unimaginable power. Seriously, it’s full of jokes about the typical magic school clichés, from haunted classrooms to teachers who look like they came from an asylum, but they grab each thing and make fun of it with a spark that doesn’t feel forced at all, at least not all the time. It’s not just that the anime makes fun of the thing that inspired it; it uses that humor to show how ridiculous it is to judge someone just by whether or not they have magic.
The comedy in MASHLE comes out naturally most of the time, you laugh at the absurdity of the situation: imagine that, instead of casting complicated spells, Mash solves everything with muscle and brute force... those moments are the ones that remind you that, even in a world full of magic and danger like a sorcery school, not everything has to be so serious, and although the series always gives you intense and well-made action scenes, the humor always lowers the tension a bit so that everything remains cool and fun. I spent my time laughing at some things, and at other times the adrenaline rose to the max with the fights.
And speaking of fights, the way MASHLE balances laughter with action is interesting, you get epic, almost movie-like battles sandwiched between moments of comedy—like when Mash, with the most serious face in the world, solves what should be a magical duel to the death by simply beating the crap out of his opponent, it's a super clever way of turning the typical underdog/genius story on its head, sometimes it feels like the series is making a little bit of fun of the idea that brute force solves everything, but at the same time it celebrates that strength in such an exaggerated way that it leaves you with your mouth open.
But if there’s one thing that made me think, it was the social theme that lies beneath it… in Mash’s world, magic isn’t just something cool to show off, it’s the currency with which it’s measured who’s more important! Those who don’t have magic are seen as insignificant and sent to the marginalized corner, but Mash’s story totally turns that idea on its head… by using only her brute force instead of magic, she not only puts the brakes on the strict rules of her world, but also shows how ugly it is to discriminate against people based on whether or not they were born with a natural gift… it’s a soft criticism, but one that gets to you, that adds another interesting thing to what, otherwise, would seem like just another action anime to laugh at for a while.
And, obviously, we have to talk about the opening of “Bling-Bang-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts. That song is a blast! The catchy rhythm and the energy they put into it put you in the mood for the series right away, I couldn't stop humming it and, more than once, I tried to copy the dance steps that went viral on social media... it's one of those openings that stays stuck in your head after the episode ends, it's great to see the impact that a good song can still have, and how it can be a perfect catapult to make a series become known.
Now, here's where I get a little more serious... despite everything how great and fun it is, MASHLE isn't that completely fantastic as many argue, in a world full of shonen fighting anime, the series goes a lot down paths that we've seen a thousand times before... the action scenes are brutal, the comedy is okay, sometimes... and the parodies are great; but if you're looking for a deep story that blows your mind, you won't find that here, no matter how much the anime tries to sell you "serious" things. The anime knows who it's talking to and doesn't hesitate to give you that kind of quick, mind-bending entertainment that the genre has always had... it's made more to make us laugh and get our adrenaline pumping than to tell us a new or interesting story, and that's where I can't take it so seriously... other anime like One Punch Man, offer you comedy, but the story and the characters are so interesting, that it really offers you something unique, here on the contrary, the great things that make it stand out, feel recycled.
For me, the series was like a mishmash of things.. I had a good time seeing how they make fun of the typical magic schools and how ridiculous it is to see a guy who fixes everything with just his muscle, it's the kind of anime that doesn't take itself seriously at all and laughs at its own exaggerations, which makes it good if you're looking for something relaxing and to pass the time.. but, if you're someone who loves complicated stories and deep character development, MASHLE may seem a bit simple to you, because it is. It's a show that's more about giving you laughs on the fly and hardcore action than getting into the deep feelings or philosophising of the characters, and that can be both an advantage and a disadvantage, I would give MASHLE a 7/10, it's not perfect, and you can tell it's not trying to be a deep masterpiece, but what it gives you, it gives it with desire and with a lot of humor...
The mix of a One Punch Man style protagonist with a world that doesn't stop copying Harry Potter clichés creates an entertaining and different experience, it's an anime that knows what's good about it and isn't afraid to be silly, even if that means going outside the typical shonen... so, if you're looking for an anime that will make you laugh a lot, with full action and good parody, I recommend you give it a chance, maybe you'll like it, maybe not... you won't know until you see it and judge it with your own eyes. Well, that's all for today, I hope you liked this review, see you in the next ones! Tell me if you've seen this anime and what you thought of it, see you later! Byebye.
Byebye.

›'Mashle: Magic and Muscles' Season Two Review: The comedy is still there, but too similar in story to Harry Potter@namiks609d
A few days ago I reviewed the first season of Mashle: Magic and Muscles and mentioned how it managed to take over from the success and inevitable decline from One Punch Man's hype; an anime that took the incredibly strong protagonist against the world idea and placed it oddly into a mockery of Harry Potter's universe. It had been a while since I last watched anything new within the anime world, but this show managed to catch my attention and was a fun surprise. It didn't take me long at all to get through the second season as a result, which felt as if it had taken things to the next level in terms of its all-out action sequences and comedic elements. This second season took a bit more of a turn in its narrative to display the actual examination process for Mash and his friends as they encounter various powerful foes all equally attempting to reach fame with the title obtained from winning. Mash's risk with losing the examination is his life, to which he'd be sentenced to death for being a person incapable of conducting magic. With the examination taking place and Mash's muscles really being put to the test, the show introduces a new direction to maintain the freshness and give new challenges. All while a new threat arrives under the name of Innocent Zero; this character is effectively just Voldemort. As you can see, the Harry Potter influence didn't really go anywhere despite a bit more of a difference in its narrative within this second season.
Mash not only now has to win the exam and prove himself to the world that wants to sentence him to death, but also save the school and ultimately the world from greater threats that seek to increase their personal powers. This season stretched itself out a bit more with fights that lasted a bit longer than usual, and this was with the character development that was needed to set the stage a little more for Mash, with the new threats coming into play. I liked that this season gave a bit more focus on the side characters that Mash now calls friends, without the season taking too much time away from Mash and the fun that makes the show so entertaining. Again I annoyingly have to revert back to the One Punch Man references: a major downside to One Punch Man's second season was its strange divergence from the protagonist with far too much of a focus on characters that just didn't have much charisma or interest to them. This second season of Mashle didn't feel that way at all, instead utilising those side characters and showing their importance despite not having major connections or impacts to the greater story. Perhaps, instead serving as reasons as to why Mash deserved to life having seen the willpower of those weaker than him, and how even they stand up to fight against those clearly stronger than them.
Not only did this focus more on the side characters give them a little more depth and pace things a bit more, it also added to Mash's character and his reason behind being so ruthless sometimes. There are often scenes in which Mash just goes straight for the action, refusing to talk and immediately jumping into the punches. I love these scenes, but giving them a reason that justified it felt a bit more impactful. Turning Mash from just a teenager that ended up in this strange environment and fighting for his own freedom, but someone that's willing to fight for the freedom of others and to serve justice. A little more of a hero rather than purely selfish reasons. Another thing worth noting was that this season's quality had no difference from the last in terms of its animation. Everything seemed the same, and it was actually this second season which really pushed the show into popularity with its more viral opening. That said, with more attention to the friends Mash has found, they don't serve a whole lot of purpose in the greater scheme of things. It's not as if they manage to pull out some impressive feat and really contribute something in a particular episode, it's more the metaphor that this season wants to display.
It's clear that this season is aimed at taking things a bit more seriously going forward. While it had its moments, it felt like a change of pace that was set to introduce a much larger story to come. The attempt at survival for the protagonist now extends beyond attempting to win something at a school, but to fight harder against a group of villains. With this, it was also highlighted that Mash is part of something greater, with his existence being something similar to the Horcrux idea in Harry Potter. I'm not sure how I feel about this side of the story though. While I have enjoyed the jokes and references to the world of Harry Potter, the fun of Mashle is that he's meant to just be an ordinary teenager that just trained a lot and holds nothing particularly special about himself. But if you remove that and make him something special, some of that weight is then lost as it's no longer just about chance and confidence when it comes to his intense fight scenes even if he isn't capable of magic, as there is something still somewhat mystical and prophetic about him. It seems the show wants to continue with that notion of the Harry Potter side of things, perhaps a little too tightly than I'd have preferred.
Though I actually assumed season two would've been the final one. That the show would've sped through the examination side of things and came to an end. But I haven't read the manga and I assume it does run on for a while. This is something I didn't really consider while watching. I won't bother reading it to find out what comes next, but I do wish it would've maintained that comedic element of mystery to it regarding Mash and his abilities. The next season seems to be quite a while away, so I guess I'll have to be patient to see what happens next.
›'Mashle: Magic and Muscles' Season One Review: A comedic anime with Harry Potter influence@namiks612d
I think everyone managed to forget that One Punch Man exists with its second season coming almost a decade ago at this point. Its first season was something that managed to instantly make waves and catch people's attention with its unique look and intense fight scenes featuring a basic protagonist that appeared to be pretty much invincible. Season three of One Punch Man seems like it's stuck in limbo and things aren't looking all that great. Though, with the success of One Punch Man comes similar ideas as other creatives take inspiration from the brand and do their own thing with it. You might be curious as to why this post mentions something of another name, and I've started this review with a rambling on the failures of One Punch Man's anime releases. Well, that is due to the fact that Mashle: Magic and Muscles is in fact a similar idea. A protagonist that seemingly holds no true match. But this anime holds a more comedic twist to it that takes things to another level: it's heavily mocking the Harry Potter world. Our protagonist is a regular teenager that lives in the countryside with his grandfather in a magical world. But in this world those without magic are considered subhuman and must be removed from the gene pool as to avoid complications within the magic world. Mash is discovered, leading to a threat against his life, but he has to prove his worth by attending magic school and becoming one of the true elites having put up a fair fight.
The school Mash must attend is basically a version of Hogwarts. Magic students from around are educated on the world of magic in this location, and the school features a challenge in which students must prove their abilities in order to be considered of the more higher elite wizards and witches. Fantasy settings are nothing out of the ordinary these days within anime, but this one doesn't feel all that deep in its fantasy setting. Remember how I said this is basically a mockery of Harry Potter? It has students performing the same classes and struggles as the films, from making a plant stop screaming to even the sports side of things. All down to learning how to control a bloom for flight. Mash, being someone that has no magical abilities but must keep it hidden from the general public, manages to pull off these insane feats in which he manages to convince everyone that he does in fact have magical abilities, all while conducting these acts purely out of his incredibly fast thinking and supreme fitness. This is a show that takes the comedy to another level. Mash features pretty much superhuman abilities with his strength, to an insanely similar degree to which he's almost invincible. The comedy coming in from how Mash manages to get out of difficult situations. Take the broom flying lessons for example, or the sports that require flight: instead of actually being able to fly, Mash flaps his legs so fast that he manages to gain flight. Holding himself up in the air from the sheer speed of movement alone.
Taking heavy inspiration from the events of Harry Potter, Mash basically is the wizard that can do everything, but without being a wizard. Our characters are still similar to the story, but some have their own personalities and that's often where the anime manages to branch things off a bit more. But the show still manages to find its way to connect itself to the hit franchise: there's still your typical school headmaster like Dumbledore. There's a small redhead kid that's definitely a mockery of Ron. And there are little hints here and there that suggest other characters are certain teachers or villains. With the similarities and jokes pointed to Harry Potter, Mashle: Magic and Muscles distances itself by offering up more drama and a different story that has these characters engaged in various other manners; Mashle fights other students of other houses, but their designs and magical abilities are unique and made up. These are more unique abilities rather than specific ones that everyone else uses, and I quite liked that given it gave the fight scenes a bit more weight and variety to them, which is important given how many of them there are. Mash is always fighting someone in the episodes, to the point where it's really all that the show is about. That constant fight forward to earn his freedom with his grandfather.
Mash's character himself is fun. A character with little awareness of the world around him. All he did was workout and that's how he managed to obtain his intense strength. Though it becomes clear that he's part of a superior being that is something similar to the Voldermort and Harry situation. The whole Horcrux thing in some essence. Mash being a character of innocent and total idiocy adds to the comedy and personality. He isn't one to brag or seem all smug, but he's straight to the point with his hits and I really enjoyed that aspect of his character. Not one to just sit around talking, and that adds to the story with sudden moments in which Mash just resorts straight to throwing the hits instead of talking and endless exposition. So that is to say that you watch Mash for the action. For the comedic moments with a bit of a dim protagonist much like One Punch Man, and that's how I made that comparison much earlier in the review. I don't think it's all that similar though, it still manages to do its own thing despite also pulling influence from another major franchise elsewhere. But I don't think I've seen much else like this. It reminds me of the Gintama side of things, which itself is riddled with references and rarely is about a more serious set of narratives within its characters.
In terms of the animation within the anime, I think it's pretty good. It varies from exaggerated and cartoonish features which have always been a bit of a trend within the anime world, but still finds its moments to be more detailed and impressive. Mostly again in those fight scenes where Mash turns all muscular. In one scene his leg becomes absolutely huge as he's swinging in for a kick, only to land it and go back to little twig legs. It's moments like these that give the show its identity. Not being overly serious, not always being so comedic. But riddled with various stylistic choices. I really liked it for that. And it didn't take long for me to dive straight into the second season to watch more of it all. I'd say it's well worth the watch if you're looking for something with fast-paced action, good humour, and a fun story that pokes fun at things without taking itself too seriously. This is what One Punch Man could've been had it not suffered drastically in production Hell. And those action scenes will definitely have you looking to pause and take some epic screenshots.
›MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES | Nattosheru Review [ENG/SPA]@nattosenpai701d
Hello anime fans. Today I want to talk about a japanese animated series that managed to stand out last year both for its protagonist and for its animation and soundtrack. A work that quickly climbed in popularity and managed to be one of the most recognized recently in the "Shōnen" genre. However, the most striking thing is the perfect combination of action, fantasy and comedy; thus becoming an anime for all audiences. Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Komoto, this animated adaptation was produced by the studio A-1 Pictures. This curious combination of Harry Potter with One Punch Man is something anyone would surely love to watch. You can find it with its two seasons on the Crunchyroll platform.

The anime introduces us to Mash Burnedead, a boy who was born in a world where magic is everything, a world where people are born with magical powers that, depending on their potential, can be used for their daily lives or to protect society from danger. The marks that appear on their faces demonstrate the level of magic and power that each individual can have, with those who have more than 2 marks being "elite" while those who have no marks at all are considered "undesirable". Mash, having been born without a mark, was abandoned as a baby. However, an old man finds the unmarked little one and, despite the danger he could be in by taking him with him, he goes with him to raise him in a forest.
The child grows up, estranged and without contact with society. Mash, despite not possessing magic, trains his muscles daily, thus achieving a superhuman strength that no one else possesses, all thanks to his monstrous and unrealistic exercise routines and his crazy diet. One day Mash, as a teenager, goes to the city to go shopping, something that his grandfather, who raised him, forbade him to do. When he arrives, he attracts the attention of people, especially the authorities, who notice that he has no mark. They go and chase him to the cabin, but he gets lost in the woods while the police arrive at his grandfather's place to force him to hand over his grandson. He arrives and stops them with his impressive strength and speed, which makes one of the policemen interested in him, making them a risky proposition in exchange for his freedom.

Trama
Trailer & Review
Next, I will leave you the trailer of the anime:
Beyond being an anime that impresses both for its animation, its characters or its story, this is currently slightly recognized for being one of those series that have won the hearts of its viewers based on jokes, funny moments and a "unique" protagonist of its kind. Within the world of "Shōnen" it is normal to see protagonists stand out for having exceptional power or for their charismatic and innocent personality, but in this case all this is taken to the absurd by introducing us to Mash, who is a guy who only thinks with his muscles, we could say. However, his gentleness and his incredible effort to face powerful opponents is admirable.
On the other hand, the other characters we see in this anime, although they have a development and a somewhat striking personality, do not become more than the simple group of "friends of the protagonist" that can easily be forgotten. Throughout the first and second seasons we notice how this world where magic and power reigns goes and constantly attacks Mash, being this a guy without magic of any kind. However, his incredible strength and ability makes him go unnoticed, at least for a moment, which makes him stand out by introducing us to the typical protagonist who has the whole world against him and still does everything to fulfill his dreams. Classic example of hard effort and dedication that this anime teaches us.
But, beyond being a sequence of battles, demonstrations of power and strength along with jokes and funny and even absurd moments, this anime has a story that at first goes somewhat unnoticed. However, as it develops, we can realize details such as the great prejudice that is lived in this world, the classist society and the way of seeing people who do not possess magic being marginalized and despised. A world where magic is everything and where people do whatever it takes to gain power and prestige. This is the world where Mash and his friends live, where such powerful enemies are seen and feared for their power, a world where he will be tested by someone who does not possess magic.
Finally, the theme of the animation, although it is not the best we have seen in recent years, it is true that it is very well done. And it is that A-1 Pictures has done an admirable job in terms of animation and drawing styles in their latest projects. The fluidity and quality of this animation is amazing, although at certain moments that takes a back seat to funny or amusing scenes in the anime. The visual effects are excellent, with almost no 3D animation, which gives it a plus, personally. The sound effects are very well done and the soundtrack of this anime makes you forget that you are in a medieval world when you listen to that catchy rhythm (especially for the Opening of its second season, which became much more famous for becoming a trend). Anyway, an anime with a lot of action, a lot of comedy and a lot of magic and brute force.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 as far as the action, comedy and fantasy genre is concerned.

Hey there, Hive!✨
Harry Potter written by a Japanese? Yes, that's Mashle in a nutshell. You've probably seen or heard about this anime by now, it has gotten pretty viral, and the truth is that it's great. In this post I will give you my opinion in which I could not avoid giving spoilers (sorry), but I already tell you (and I repeat), it is a spectacular anime
Synopsis
Mash Burnedead is a young man who is born in a world full of magic, where all people develop incredible abilities, particular to each magician. You can tell how much magic each person has if you look at their birthmarks. One mark is the minimum, but if you have two or more we are talking about higher levels. If you're wondering how many marks Mash has, the truth is that he doesn't have any since in a world ruled by magic, Mash doesn't have any of that. It's a rare case and unfortunately if the authorities discover him, they would get rid of him. He goes against the norm.
His grandfather decides to hide him on the outskirts of town, completely isolating him from the world and physically training him so that he can defend himself at least in that way. However, one day everything would change and Mash would enter the world of magic, where he will be haunted by his condition...
Mashle is a fairly recent shōnen (2020) with its anime adaptation that is currently airing its second season. References to other stories are in practically all of this anime, but it is not a simple copy and paste, on the contrary, it gives it its own particular touch by making everything a kind of absurd parody. The main thing here is the comedy and how the situations of tension or danger contrast with the absurd nature of the characters, especially Mash. Everything is handled with a fairly rapid development, but since it is a very simple plot, speed is a good factor, because it does not leave you waiting and keeps you entertained.
There is also action in each episode, so much that none of it feels like filler, and everything is so interesting that you don't even notice that time has passed. You get the feeling that it lasted less time but in reality it is the usual twenty-something minutes. But of course, it is a short anime, with only 12 episodes per season (or at least so far).
In general there is a very complete character development, sure it is not deep due to the shortness, but it is enough to understand their actions and fully understand the nature of each one. The most obvious parodies are those based on Harry Potter, but there are plenty of nods to other stories. Of course, the one who steals the attention is the main character, who for me is a parody of the parody, that is, he is based on Saitama from One Punch Man.
Mash is completely expressionless, a constant poker face and we'll rarely see a change from his constant neutrality and usually only when he is upset. The rest of the time it seems like he doesn't have a thought in his head😅. This makes the contrast between him and the rest of the characters who are expressive a very funny thing to watch, and it is even more comical when he manages to get out of problems in the most absurd ways. His "powers" are impressive because of the quantity, but not because they are magical.
It's nice to see a story that is truly funny and absurd. There are no big secrets, no puzzles to solve (or at least not ones that are too deep), it is simply a story of action, fun and a lot of brute force. But obviously, with the characteristic style of this type of anime. Mash is the hero, yes, but not because he really wants to be one but because he is left with no choice, and he is so noble that he decides to save as many people as he considers worthy. Although not everything is kindness, when he must defend something he does it fiercely, he does not spare his blows.
In reality, the attention that this story has been getting lately is totally deserved since it is perfectly made to be entertaining and fun to watch. I think each episode will make you laugh a couple of times at the absurdity of it all, and will definitely leave you wanting to see more. The episodes are airing every Saturday so you can rush to see what is published so far before the second season ends. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do because even the opening is great.
To wrap it up for today, I will leave you the opening that made it viral, which is from the second season. You get it more after you meet the characters, but it cannot be denied that it demonstrates the essence of the anime: absurdly funny.

¡Hola, Hive!✨

Hello Hive friends, today I bring you a review of an anime/manga that surely you all know and have seen everywhere, even in this community I have seen several posts about it. That's right, as you read in the title, I'm talking about "Mashle", which I saw so much because of the second opening of this anime, plus the recommendation of a friend who told me that I was going to laugh a lot. So well, let's go with the review.
Both the anime and the manga begins by telling us that the world is full of wizards and magic, in which each person has a mark that signifies how much magical power you can control. The more marks you have, the more powerful you are. But this is where our peculiar protagonist comes in, who doesn't have or doesn't possess any kind of magic or mark. So the person who takes care of him, I don't know if it's dad or grandpa, since in the anime he calls him dad, but then later on later he calls him grandpa, so I'm a little confused on that. This one hides him because of the condition Mash has, and this is punishable by death.
At the beginning we can see that Mash has great physical power, as he can even lift heavy weights. One day, when his grandfather goes out, Mash decides to go to the city, which is forbidden since he can be discovered. But our protagonist has a fascination for cupcakes, which are like breads filled with pastry cream, or so it seemed to me. So he goes out wearing a hood so no one can see him. Then, when he arrives in town, he goes to the store where they sell these desserts, and here we can again observe the ridiculous strength that Mashle has, since at the time of payment, the coins are folded, but he unfolds them with ease. He is then spotted by a policeman and seeing that he has no mark, he decides to chase him. Mash runs away at high speed, but the policeman casts a kind of spell that tracks him.
Mash's grandfather, discovering that Mash went out without his permission, sends him to exercise again. During this time, the cops break into the house and start torturing the grandfather, leaving him almost dead. As in every anime, Mash arrives at the right time to stop them, so he must confront this policeman. Here again we can see the great power that our protagonist has, since the policeman casts a spell on him that can destroy the whole valley, besides having made a dragon flee thanks to him. But Mash deflects it with his bare hand as if it were nothing. The policeman admits defeat, but blackmails Mash not to notify the higher-ups that there is someone who cannot use magic. He sets him on a mission to become a chosen one of God, so that he can live quietly with his grandfather deep in the forest. This is when the real adventures of our protagonist begin, and we will also meet some very funny and interesting characters.
"Mashle" I found this anime quite entertaining because of the ridiculous strength Mash has and how he uses it to do even more ridiculous things, which I found very funny, such as flying. He accomplishes this by moving his legs at such a speed that he soars, or when he uses the broom, pulls it and then rides it. Really this anime has some pretty funny moments that make you stay just for that simple fact. I also wondered how they would handle the plot, since having a character that pretty much beats everyone, so to speak, it would be a bit boring if they only focused on him. As you progress, you notice that this won't be the case, as they give prominence to different characters you'll find in him in both the anime and manga, thus showing us their past and their goals. Also, not only do the battles focus on Mash, but also on his friends who are always with him. In that part I liked how they handled everything. Mind you, I also read the manga and I didn't feel that it was the same, or that those funny moments weren't as meaningful, just some of them. Also, when I finished it, I felt that the battles were won "just because" or that they were much faster, so to speak. But all in all, it was entertaining nonetheless. It reminded me of "One Punch Man" and I guess this one also carries its plot in not focusing all the fights on Saitama. If you want an anime to pass the time and have a few laughs, "Mashle" is for you.
All the pictures were taken by me when I was reading the manga, except the cover. Thanks for reading my post <3
It's been almost a month since I shared posts about anime in The Anime Realm community because, for one reason or another, I'm busy at work, but this time, I'm free and will share my experiences and reviews of the anime I just finished watching some time ago.
In the beginning of 2024, I spent weekends watching ongoing anime and several anime that were just released in January, one of which I will discuss in this post, called Mashle: Magic and Muscle, which just released its Season 2 at the beginning of January 2024. I've seen this anime broadcast on social media because lots of people are discussing it, at first I wasn't interested because the main character's stature wasn't included in the character references that I liked, but in the end, when Season 2 of the Mashle anime aired I became curious and automatically included it in on the weekly watch list.
I started with the first season which was released around May 2023, after watching the first few episodes, I was instantly amazed by this anime. Mashle: Magic and Muscle is an anime adapted from a famous Korean Manhwa with a depiction that spoils the reader's eyes, in my opinion, it tells the story of a boy who lives in a world where all life is related to magic.
Mashle: Magic and Muscle is an anime adapted from a famous Korean Manhwa with a depiction that spoils the reader's eyes, in my opinion, it tells the story of a boy who lives in a world where all life is related to magic. At first, I thought so, but it turned out to be wrong, the Mashle anime comes from the Manga with the same title by Hajime Komoto. Mash Burnedead is a boy who likes eclairs and spends his time lifting weights, when he is hit by a problem, he is required to enter a magic school so that his peaceful life can return.
Let me tell you a little about myself, I was originally the type of person who was anti-Korean culture, both in terms of culture and entertainment, because I loved Japanese culture and everything in it. I only watch anime and read manga, as time goes by and I get older, I become a more compromising person and look for whatever shows I like from anywhere. One day, I fell in love with one of the very famous Manhwa, called Solo Leveling, at first I thought that Mashle was a Manhwa, because from the first look, I saw it had a Korean feel, and it turned out I was wrong.
At first, I thought I would be bored with boys' stories with a concept from zero to hero like this anime, but it turns out I was wrong. Even though at the beginning of watching this anime I felt familiar with the nature of the main character, after a few episodes passed I was amazed by this anime, the comedy and innocence displayed by Mash Burnedead made this anime worth watching.
One of the unique points that I like about this anime is the naming of the characters in it, almost all the characters in the Mashle anime have Western or European names, and there are not many characters with Japanese names. I like this naming concept, it feels fresh to me, a few names like Rayne Ames, Abel Walker, Lance Crown, and Abyss Razor are names that I think are cool and fit the theme of the wizarding world.
From a visual perspective, I like the character design in the Mashle anime because it was done by a proper studio and executed well, as viewers our eyes are spoiled with rich visuals, especially during the duel scenes between magic users, even though I don't like the lines that mark them to someone's magic power but that's what makes Anime Mashle have its characteristics.
Maybe there are some points that I don't like about this anime, such as several scenes in the story of this Mashle anime that are easy to predict how things will go, and the character Mash with his innocent attitude which at first glance reminds me of the character Saitama in the anime One Punch Man.
In my opinion, this anime gives a different impression from anime of a similar genre, the world of magic with all its complexity will make the audience feel bored, but as long as I watch this anime I am always entertained by all the events that Mash and her friends do.
This is a suitable anime for you to watch, and I highly recommend adding it to your watch list. The story about a boy who can use his physical abilities to cover up his biggest shortcomings is one of the messages that stuck with me after watching this anime, the resistance of minorities in demanding justice by fighting the existing system made me admire Mashle: Magic and Muscle. Even though I was late in watching it, I was happy because this anime was already running in Season 2, so I didn't have to wait long to watch it. I made this review based on my views after watching, everything I write in this post is my personal opinion as a viewer.

What's up otaku(s)?!!!
It took me some time to make some anime-related posts again. I do watch anime and read manga every day, so there's a lot of things to talk about.
I re-watched "Boku no Hero Academia" from the first season until the last available one as well as all the movies on Netflix with my mama. I'm kind of happy because she decided to watch it with me even though it's quite bloody. She dislikes blood, but she ended up enjoying it.
Now, we're watching "Black Clover". I've already watched perhaps more than a hundred episodes in the past, but I forgot where I stopped watching, so I decided to watch it from the beginning. It's bloody, but tolerable for my mama, so we're currently watching it together.
She seems to be enjoying some shonen anime, but I don't think she could watch "Kimetsu no Yaiba" or "Shingeki no Kyojin". It would be too much for her. Who knows? She might be able to do so in the future?
Anyway, the main topic for this post isn't about me turning my mama into an otaku, but I want to talk about a certain anime called ***MASHLE***.
A lot of anime fans likened this anime to One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100. I could see that since the main character's hairstyle is similar to Mob's while his ability is pretty similar to Saitama. The art style is also very similar.
Because of this, I tried checking the author, but Mashle is actually the debut manga of the author named Hajime Komoto. Funnily though, the author's profile picture is mushroom-head boy who looks almost identical to Mob-kun of Mob Psycho 100.
The story is about a magic-less boy who for some reasons entered a magic school. It's kind of similar to Hogwarts where the students also belong to various houses.
It's an action, fantasy and comedy anime. If you're into Harry Potter, you'd see a bunch of Harry Potter references used in the anime like the *sorting hat*, *quidditch*, etc.
The reason why I likened it to Black Clover is because of the main character. Both anime has magic-less main characters who are trying to survive in a magical world with their muscles or physical strength.
Mash *(Mashle's main character)* trains his body every day and is obsessed with muscles and cream puffs. I could say the same with Asta *(Black Clover's main character)*... well, except for the cream puff part.
Aside from the main characters, the systems used in these magical worlds are similar. In Mashle, students must gain coins through their achievements in school in order to be a **"Divine Visionary"** while in Black Clover, the magic knights would have to collect stars and show extreme achievements to be promoted. Asta is dreaming of becoming the **Magic Emperor** someday despite having no magical powers.
In addition, both anime reflect the differences among the citizen's rank. The more magic you have, the higher your status is. They show discrimination towards people who are poor and with less magic. And this situation is what both the main characters want to change.
Mashle only has one season so far, but they'll be back next year, 2024, for the next season. The story was so-so for me because I'm a fan of Black Clover and I can't help but compare them, but Mashle is still worth-watching.
It's humorous and if you're a Pottermore, you'd enjoy spotting the references as well. The animation style especially the fight scenes are also amazing for a parody or comedy anime. Perhaps, the story would evolve more in the coming seasons as I have quite a bit of questions towards the end of the previous one.
I'm still thinking whether to read the manga on Shonen JUMP or not, but we'll see. Just give it a shot. It's short, but decently entertaining! <3
