After the end of the One Year War, there was a 3-year peace. It was interrupted by the fanatical soldiers of Gihren Zabi. People who do not want to accept the fall of their state and dictator. One of their best pilots, Anavel Gato, breaks into a Federation-owned base and steals a prototype Gundam model that is armed with a nuclear warhead. Kou Uraki, along with the rest of his squad and the help of engineer Nina Purpleton, must solve this problem as soon as possible to prevent another conflict. Not a very original script, but it works pretty well for a 13-episode series.
As for the heroes, I can say more or less the same about them as about their counterparts from "The 08th MS Team". It's pretty good, I have nothing to complain about (they look good, have clearly defined characters), but I do not have to praise them for anything. They are basically the same cliches of character archetypes that behave as standard. A typical main character, a classic commander who usually sits in his chair and gives orders, a sensitive engineer, her muscular friend, friends of the main character and friends from the squad. It's a normal, good job, with nothing distinctive or conspicuous. On the plus side, I can write down that there are fewer funny threads or funny relations between the characters. Not that it bothers me, but I think there were a bit too many loose moments like this in the series I previously reviewed. For this reason, I like these characters a bit more - although I will not remember them in six months, I can say at the moment that I liked them more. A minor exception are the most important characters that belong to the camp of the bad guys - Anavel Gato, Aiguille Delaz and Cima Garahau. Or else, I liked the sibling plot of "The 08th MS Team" more, and especially the secret project they were managing, but aside from it, I'm more pleased with the antagonists in this anime. Their main storyline isn't as cool, but they make up for in other aspects. For example, with references to the main plot of MSG - feel that this story is closer to the original and does not take place on a less significant section of the front. I also liked the way the fanaticism of Delaz's soldiers was portrayed more than the process of creating Zabi's secret weapon. Nothing fancy, but it's cool that they didn't limit themselves to the usual "ha, we're so angry that even the Nazis would be ashamed of us!" and these types of schemas. By the way, was it only me while watching that the style, way of drawing the characters or the elements of their surroundings of this Gundam is more "Western"? The characters, plots, and the whole plot in general, remind me more of the American movies a'la "Alien", or (in some areas) "Star Wars". Of course, you could say that many of the series in the MSG franchise are closer to Western culture (or at least I think so), but in the case of this anime, it was especially noticeable to me. At times I had the impression that it was an American cartoon with a war atmosphere with robots in space.
The second aspect that made me look at this Gundam more pleasantly than the previous one is space combat. While the battles on Earth looked really good, these robots show all their beauty in outer space. Lasers, unhindered destruction, almost zero limitations, high speed. It's not the level of Char's Counterattack or Gundam the Origin, but looking at the age of this series, it looks pretty good. The robots move smoothly, they destroy their opponents nicely, there are no ugly or sloppy drawn scenes. Fighting on Earth was a pleasant sight too - especially in the beginning of the anime, when the Federation sent a small force to retrieve the stolen Gundam. Different models of robots with different weapons, like in some RPG session for sci-fi nerds, that was cool. When it comes to music, it is average - the music fits the action, it complements the emotional layer or action scenes well, but that's all. I don't remember any song, no scene stuck in my memory thanks to the soundtrack etc. The openings are different - there are two of them in this anime, and both of them perfectly introduce us to the atmosphere of the story. I love strong, female vocals and although these songs did not knock me on my knees (to be precise - very good job, but unfortunately they do not stand out in any way, so I cannot judge them better), I have been listening to them very pleasantly for many years.
In summary, both series I watched recently ago could be compared to Marvel's second tier productions - something like Shang Chi or AntMan. Second-league productions, which are only to expand the universe, give a little more fun and provide customers with what they want. Everything looks nice, meets certain technical standards, it is quite pleasant to watch, but are these series that in my opinion are a must watch? Hmm, not really. Ie. it's worth watching if you like big robots or you liked other Gundams, but if you are not fans of such anime, then I have better suggestions. For example, "Gundam the Origin" or "Full Metal Panic". Btw. this comparison to the MCU makes even more sense due to the appearance of Haman Karn (a character known from "Gundam Zeta" and not only that, quite important for the universe - I could compare it to e.g. Freezer from DB, when it comes to meaning and weighting for this universe) - the girl appeared in one scene, she said 1, maybe 2 short sentences and we did not see her again. Good joke xD. On the other hand, a nice touch is that I found out how the Titans (an organization known from "Gundam Zeta") came to be who at least had some input on the show. Regarding the rating, I rate "Stardust Memory" +7/10. Initially, I wanted to rate the anime -7/10, but the final episode stood out above most in SM. It wasn't particularly amazing, but I can describe it as almost very good.

Kou Uraki wraz z resztą swojego oddziału i pomocą inżyniera, Niny Purpleton, muszą rozwiązać ten problem jak najszybciej, by nie dopuścić do kolejnego konfliktu. Niezbyt oryginalny scenariusz, ale sprawdza się całkiem dobrze w 13-odcinkowym serialu.
Jeśli chodzi o bohaterów, to mogę o nich powiedzieć mniej więcej to samo, co o ich odpowiednikach z "The 08th MS Team". Jest całkiem nieźle, nie mam im nic do zarzucenia (wyglądają dobrze, mają wyraźnie nakreślone charaktery), ale nie mam ich też za nic pochwalić. Generalnie to takie same klisze archetypów postaci, które zachowują się standardowo. Typowy główny bohater, klasyczny dowódca, który zazwyczaj siedzi na swoim fotelu i wydaje rozkazy, wrażliwa pani inżynier, jej umięśniona koleżanka, koledzy głównego bohatera i znajomi z oddziału. To zwyczajna, dobra robota, w której nie ma nic charakterystycznego, czy rzucającego się w oczy. Na plus mogę zapisać to, że jest mniej śmiesznych wątków lub zabawnych relacji między bohaterami. Nie żeby mi to przeszkadzało, ale wydaje mi się, że było trochę za dużo takich luźnych momentów w poprzednio recenzowanej przeze mnie serii. Z tego powodu darzę te postacie nieco większą sympatią - co prawda nie będę o nich pamiętał za pół roku, ale na ten moment mogę powiedzieć, że bardziej ich polubiłem. Drobnym wyjątkiem są najważniejsze postacie, które należą do obozu tych złych - Anavel Gato, Aiguille Delaz i Cima Garahau. Albo inaczej, bardziej podobał mi się wątek tego rodzeństwa z "The 08th MS Team", a zwłaszcza tajnego projektu, którym zarządzali, ale pomijając go, jestem bardziej zadowolony z antagonistów w tym anime. Ich główny wątek nie jest tak fajny, ale nadrabiają w innych aspektach. Np. nawiązaniami do głównego wątku MSG - czuć że ta historia jest bliższa pierwowzorowi i nie dzieje się na mniej znaczącym odcinku frontu. Sposób przedstawienia fanatyzmu żołnierzy Delaza również mi się bardziej spodobał niż proces tworzenia tajnej broni Zabi. Nic szczególnego, ale fajnie że nie ograniczyli się zwykłego zachowania w stylu "ha, jesteśmy tak źli, że nawet naziści by się nas wstydzili!" i tego typu schematów. Swoją drogą, czy tylko ja podczas oglądania miałem wrażenie, że stylistyka, sposób rysowania postaci, czy elementów ich otoczenia tego Gundama jest bardziej "zachodnia"? Postacie, wątki, generalnie cała fabuła, bardziej mi przypomina Amerykańskie filmy a'la "Alien", czy (w pewnych obszarach) "Star Wars". Oczywiście można powiedzieć, że wiele serii wchodzących w skład franczyzy MSG, jest bliższych zachodniej kulturze (a przynajmniej mi się tak wydaje), ale w przypadku tego anime szczególnie rzucało mi się to w oczy. Momentami miałem wrażenie jakby to była amerykańska kreskówka o wojennym klimacie z robotami w kosmosie.
Drugi aspekt który sprawił, że ogląda mi się przyjemniej tego Gundama od poprzedniego, to walki w kosmosie. Co prawda bitwy na Ziemi wyglądały naprawdę dobrze, ale te roboty pokazują całe swoje piękno w przestrzeni kosmicznej. Lasery, nieskrępowana destrukcja, niemal zero ograniczeń, duża szybkość. Nie jest to co prawda poziom filmu "Char's Counterattack", czy "Gundam the Origin", ale patrząc na wiek tego serialu, to wygląda całkiem dobrze. Roboty poruszają się płynnie, ładnie niszczą swoich przeciwników, nie ma brzydko narysowanych lub niechlujnie narysowanych scen. Walki na Ziemi też były przyjemnym widokiem - zwłaszcza ta z początku anime, gdy Federacja wysłała mały oddział do odzyskania skradzionego Gundama. Różnie modele robotów z odmiennym uzbrojeniem, jak w jakiejś sesji RPG dla nerdów sci-fi, to było coś fajnego. Jeśli chodzi o muzykę, to jest przeciętnie - muzyka pasuje do akcji, nieźle uzupełnia warstwę emocjonalną, czy sceny akcji, ale tylko tyle. Nie zapamiętałem żadnej piosenki, żadna scena nie utkwiła mi w pamięci dzięki ścieżce dźwiękowej etc. Co innego openingi - w tym anime mamy dwa i oba doskonale wprowadzają nas w klimat historii. Uwielbiam mocny, kobiecy wokal i choć te utwory nie powaliły mnie na kolana (uściślając - bardzo dobra robota, ale niestety nie wybijają się pod żadnym względem, więc nie mogę ich lepiej ocenić), to od wielu lat słucha mi się ich bardzo przyjemnie.
Reasumując, obie serie, które niedawno temu obejrzałem, mógłbym porównać do drugoligowych produkcji Marvela - coś jak Shang Chi lub AntMan. Produkcje drugoligowe, które mają jedynie rozwinąć uniwersum, dać trochę więcej zabawy i dostarczyć klientom to, co chcą. Wszystko wygląda ładnie, spełnia pewne techniczne standardy, ogląda się to całkiem przyjemnie, ale czy są to serie, które są wg mnie must watch? Hm, nie bardzo. Tzn. warto je obejrzeć, jeżeli lubicie duże roboty lub podobały się Wam inne Gundamy, ale jeżeli nie jesteście fanami takich anime, to mam lepsze propozycje. Np. "Gundam the Origin" lub "Full Metal Panic". Btw. to porównanie do MCU ma jeszcze więcej sensu z uwagi na pojawienie się Haman Karn (postać znana z "Gundam Zeta" i nie tylko, dość ważna dla uniwersum - mógłbym ją porównać np. do Freezera z DB, jeśli chodzi o znaczenie i wagomiar dla tego uniwersum) - dziewczyna pojawiła się w jednej scenie, powiedziała 1, może 2 krótkie zdania i już jej więcej nie zobaczyliśmy. Dobry żart xD. Z drugiej strony, miłym akcentem jest to, że dowiedziałem się, jak powstali Tytani (organizacja znana z "Gundam Zeta"), którzy przynajmniej mieli jakiś wkład w tym serialu. Jeśli chodzi o ocenę, to oceniam "Stardust Memory" na +7/10. Początkowo chciałem ocenić anime na -7/10, ale finałowy odcinek wyróżnił się poziomem na tle większości z SM. Nie był on szczególnie powalający, ale mogę go określić jako niemal bardzo dobrym.
