In this opportunity, I want to share with you about its sequel, which I found amazing, because it takes a different tone from its prequel, so I couldn't stop expressing my opinions about it.

   What's the plot about?... SPOILER ALERT (if you didn't see the first season).

   In the first season, we meet our protagonist Lee Yeon, a 9-tailed fox who found his reincarnated love after many years, overcoming any obstacle to be with her, losing his half-brother Lee Rang. Giving up his immortal life and leading a more human one, since he decides to die at the same time as his beloved, Lee Yeon is suddenly involved in a time travel, specifically to 1938, where we will meet new characters and familiar faces, including his half-brother.

   It will not be easy for him to return to his time and recover what he stole, because he will realize that, in that time, where he neglected his duties as an ancient god of the Mountain, well ex-god of the Mountain, his home was involved in many conflicts, the domination of the Japanese (among them demons and monsters alien to the Korean culture), problems with the native gods, encounters with old friends and much more, which will make his return home complicated, but full of many adventures, action, regrets, approaches and changes that were not expected.

   Personal opinion

   I really loved how they wrapped in this second part new characters, another scenario, even the tone in which the plot is presented, because it even feels like another separate story, of course with its details that if because if, you would have to see the first season. What I want to get to, is the way in which they developed everything, is that even the personality of the protagonist feels slightly different, it is no longer that romantic tone that sought and gave everything for his love, here we see him more in his role as god of the mountain, although he wants to be with his beloved, he can not leave his responsibilities aside, as he already did, he wants to balance both elements and for this he will have the support of many around him.

   And what can I say about the relationship with his half-brother, the chemistry between them was incredible and the fact that they gave us a more enjoyable brotherly relationship and that I enjoyed more with him, gave his great touch and a deeper development in this season, I can't doubt that. Although we have new characters that appear more on screen, they really did a good job, they adapted very well to the story that was already being structured and give us new visions about that fantasy world, with mythological beings, gods, spirits and so on.

   I really liked this story, usually and sometimes, in the second season some productions decline a lot, but here I don't see that, I was very entertained and I loved the brotherhood relationships that developed this time; of course I must admit that the first chapter (especially the first 30 minutes) if this something slow, but it is worth seeing the elements that are shown as the plot progresses.

   Hace un mes atrás estuve dando mis opiniones sobre el k-drama Tale of the Nine Tailed, si quieren saber un poco de que va la historia y contextualizarse en lo que va de la trama, les dejo el link de mi reseña. En esta oportunidad, quiero compartirle sobre su secuela, la cual me pareció increíble, debido a que toma un tono distinto a su precuela, por ello no podía dejar de expresar mis opiniones al respecto.

   ¿De qué va la trama?… ALERTA SPOILER (si no viste la primera temporada)

   En la primera temporada, conocemos a nuestro protagonista Lee Yeon, un zorro de 9 colas quien encontró después de muchos años a su amor reencarnado, superando cualquier obstáculo para lograr estar con ella, perdiendo tras ello a su medio hermano Lee Rang. Renunciando a su vida inmortal y llevando una más humano, ya que decide morir al mismo tiempo que su amada, Lee Yeon se ve envuelto repentinamente en un viaje de tiempo, a 1938 específicamente, donde nos encontraremos con nuevos personajes y con caras conocidas, entre ellas a su medio hermano.

   No le será fácil volver a su época y recuperar aquello robado, pues se dará cuenta que, en dicha época, donde descuido más sus deberes como antiguo dios de la Montaña, bueno ex-dios de la Montaña, su hogar se vio envuelto en muchos conflictos, la dominación de los japoneses (entre ellos demonios y monstruos ajenos a la cultura coreana), los problemas con los dioses nativos, encuentros con viejos amigos y mucho más, que harán que su regreso a casa sea complicado, pero lleno de muchas aventuras, acción, arrepentimientos, acercamientos y cambios que no se esperaban.

   Realmente me encantó como envolvieron en esta segunda parte nuevos personajes, otro escenario, incluso el tono en el que nos presenta la trama, porque está incluso se siente como otra historia aparte, claro con sus detalles que si porque si, se tendría que ver la primera temporada. A lo que quiero llegar, es en la manera en como desenvolvieron todo, es que incluso la personalidad del protagonista se siente ligeramente diferente, ya no es ese tono romántico que buscaba y daba todo por su amor, aquí lo vemos más en su papel de dios de la montaña, aunque quiera estar con su amada, no puede dejar sus responsabilidades a un lado, como ya lo hizo, quiere equilibrar ambos elementos y para ello contara con el apoyo de muchos a su alrededor.

   Y que puedo decir de la relación con su medio hermano, la química entre ambos fue increíble y el hecho de que nos hayan entregado una relación de hermandad más amena y que disfrute más con él, dio su gran toque y un desarrollo más profundo en esta temporada, eso no lo puedo poner en duda. Aunque tengamos nuevos personajes que aparecen más en pantalla, realmente hicieron un buen trabajo, se adaptaron muy bien a la historia que ya se venia estructurando y nos entregan nuevas visiones acerca de ese mundo fantasioso, con seres mitológicos, dioses, espíritus y demás.

   Esta historia me gustó mucho, por lo general y en ocasiones, en la segunda temporada decaen mucho algunas producciones, pero aquí no veo eso, me entretuvo mucho y amé las relaciones de hermandad que desarrollaron en esta ocasión; claro si debo admitir que el primer capítulo (sobre todo los primeros 30 minutos) si esta algo lento, pero vale la pena ver los elementos que se van mostrando a medida que va avanzando la trama.

   Just before I took my device to start writing this, I had a small rest having it in mind that I'll make a review of the series I had just concluded seeing last week. I couldn't rest at all, I know I didn't because my head kept replaying a lot of the scenes from the film. I guess it was preparing my mind to write this review so yeah, here I am lol.

   I concluded seeing Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 earlier last week and the scenes are still very fresh in my head, that makes it a good watch for me... Well, you'll find more reasons as you read on.

   I'm a huge fan of Korean series but I'm beginning to like the fantasy and action kinds more as they seem to be more suspenseful and thrilling to see like this series I just concluded. Tale Of The Nine Tailed 1938 is a series of fantasy and comedy as I've said in my title and that isn't the only focus but my favourite part. There was also horror scenes but I guess they aren't so horror as I don't feel scared as I do in some horror movies lol.

   The series has a first season which is titled just Tale of The Nine Tailed and it ended leaving the viewers to ask if there could be another season coming up later and there really was. I was more than excited when I learnt of a new season and now, I feel so fulfilled seeing the end of this season.

   What is the series about? I'll share a bit of it as I introduced characters that stood out in their roles to make the series memorable for the viewers.

   The main guy, Lee Yeon starred by (Lee Dong-wook) who is the nine tailed Fox, a former mountain god and a funny character. In the last season, he starred as the main character who gave up his duty as a mountain god to find his human girl who he fell in love with. That season was a whole lot to see how he got together with his human girl but this series didn't focus on that which I think made this season more interesting than the last.

   On this series, he is sent back in time (1938) to retrieve a stolen Gem and in the process to retrieve that, he is met with his supposed dead brother, two childhood friends and a crumbling world (the Japanese colonization on korean a era). The scenes that follows as he uses his Gumiho powers in combination with his friends, is remarkable.

   A fellow mountain god and close friend to the main guy, Ryu Hong Joo starred by (Kim So-yeon) is a very interesting character in this series. She reminded me so much of her role in the series Penthouse, shows how good she really is in acting. In this series, she's a good informant and fighter with her large sword lol. Her childish acts towards Lee Yeon to make him love her gave me really funny scenes to see lol.

   She is in a love triangle as the other friend of theirs is in love with her but she loves Lee Yeon who is in love with another. But the series didn't give focus on their story. I would have love to talk about the other friend who chose the villain role but I'll skip that, you'll see more of him if you see the series.

   Our amazing supporting character and his love-hate feeling for his brother, he's called Lee Rang starred by (Kim Bum). This character is my favourite as he gave all the kind of feelings I like in a movie... The action, the suspense, the romance, the thrills and most of all, the Comedy 😅 he is a full package with his role in the series.

   I've seen him in a lot of other series as a supporting character and I must say, he's good at it. Still looking forward to when he plays a lead role in a series.

   More thoughts on the series

   I like that the series took us back to the year 1938 in Korean and made sure to show us how it must have looked like in that time... From their dressing style, the way they talk, their buildings, cars and even how they think with the addition of Japanese colonization... I'll say it was a great combination for a good watch.

   I also like the villain role that isn't so like a villain because I actually loved the character no matter how wicked he tried to be in his role, it only made the series more interesting. The different missions in the series are also very iconic and memorable.

   Meeting a baby god, an illusion god, one with poison powers, another who controls fire and another who uses ice... All that were amazing and gave the series a lot to see for the viewers.

   Here are some iconic scenes from the series, I thought I should share this instead of a main trailer about the series... The video shows a lot of funny scenes from the series. I hope you'll find time to see this series, it is worth it. I'll rate the series 8/10, let me know what you think about my review and hopefully if you see it too.

   After watching Tale of the Nine Tailed when it was first released in 2020, the show ticked many boxes for me although it was hard to accept the fact that Lee Rang, one of the major characters in the show lost his life at the least expected time. He was a fan's favourite and many people enjoyed his love-hate relationship with his half-brother.

   If you are a big fan of tvshows, you will likely know how it feels to see the death of a character who you have gotten to admire throughout his/her screen time. Lee Rang is that character and his death left a huge void in the heart of fans.

   Well, what else can we do? The scriptwriter got us with that one and the scene did exactly what it was meant to do. It pierced our heart. However, I never would have imagined that we will be getting a second season of this show. Most importantly, who would have thought we will get to see our boy, Lee Rang? Haha.

   From all indications, this latest edition of Tale Of The Nine-Tailed is the second season of the show and the last episode was released on 11th June, this year. Not 1938. Hehe. Don't get it twisted.

   The storyline of this second season of the show can be taken as a prequel to the first season. The main character (Lee Yeon) and his friend had to travel back to 1930. The reason for that decision was because of an unexpected case which had to be resolved with urgency. In that era, Korea was under Japanese rule and his brother (Lee Rang) is alive and thriving as the leader of bandits.

   While in the era of 1983, both brothers got to reunite and the love-hate relationship which makes their bromance adorable was still very visible. But the brother from the future wasn't too hard on his younger brother because he already knows the pain of living in an era where he has no one to call a brother.

   

   While the onscreen relationship with both brothers was adorable to see, the story is largely based on different categories of powerful creatures, demons, spirits and stuff like that. They were also very good in combat so, a lot of scenes were filled with well-choreographed fighting sequences. I particularly like how there were a lot of superpowers that are unique to some characters and they all got to flex theirs while in combat.

   One of the concerns that was raised about this season of the show is the change in the female lead character. Many characters from the first season were dropped and a lot more were introduced, but so many people were worried about the introduction of a different female lead. Kim So-Yeon is the one that got that role and I've seen her in a lot of other projects. The lady is good.

   Interestingly, the role she played in this show is the perfect role that suits her track record in the industry.

   The main female character in this season of the show is badass and doesn't wait for Prince Charming to come to her rescue. She is bold, kind-hearted and protects those under her care. She is also in control of her emotions... The perfect kinda female lead character I love to see on tv shows.

   To enjoy this and have good knowledge of the backstory of the characters, I would highly suggest you watch the Tale of the Nine Tailed released in 2022, before jumping into this. That should be a no-brainer 🙂.
