Those stories that show you the sad reality that some countries live, that make you think, and give thanks for what you have, where the struggle for our daily bread, is their constant agony, between the shortage of food, lack of water and resources, to have a better quality of life, is their greatest suffering.
We know that among the poorest countries are Africans, the capital with which they have are exhausted, between food, water, land, in a place where poverty is extreme, it is difficult to survive; think about your welfare and that of your family, it is not easy, you just want to find a solution.
Malawi, Africa, is one of the poorest places in the world, its main production is maize, with this they feed themselves, they generate income, but when the drought comes, the harvests decrease, worsening and aggravating their sad economic situation.
In the quest to survive
This film shows us a bit of all this, where a boy, seeing all the suffering of his father, with the drought, the lack of food, decides to do something, to invent an ingenious device, which will help them, to generate energy from the wind, allowing them to produce and harvest.
In the late 1990s, we see a family living in the village of Wimbe, among them a young boy called Williams, his parents knew he was very intelligent, they wanted him to study and prepare himself, so he went to school, he liked to read books, until one day, he found an old book about electricity in the school library.
It explained how windmills could be used to generate power from moving air, so he thought he could build one, using scrap metal from scrap yards and junked cars from the surrounding area.
Because the only way to get water was from a well, they needed something to draw from, William wanted to create a way to get enough water for the harvest, he took some old parts, including those from a bicycle, all with the sole intention of creating this windmill, so he could run the pump, and draw water from the well.
A solution for a people in conflict
It sounds easy, but is it really easy, like believing in a young child who knows nothing, who is just learning, studying, educating himself?
While he was looking for a solution, the others were struggling to get the attention of their government, to help them, to support them, but above all not to let them die of hunger; how difficult it is to live in a situation like this, to think that you have nothing to eat, nothing to feed your children, it is really frustrating.
For Williams' father, it was, he never went to school, he was always a country man, but he wanted his children to go, to learn, to study at the University, and to become educated and studied people.
A Real Need
Water is life, without it we die, that's the truth, in my country, we also suffer from this agony, not everywhere we get fixed water, we must be looking, buying, but we get, and we are thankful for it.
When you see this film, it makes you value everything, the place where you live, your house, your bed, the food, absolutely everything; human beings are usually very selfish, and we live complaining about what we don't have, what we lack, but when we see the reality of others, that's where we say, we think, we are privileged, and we don't thank them enough.
That's the good thing about film, it shows us that other side, that other world that we don't know about, where places like Malawi, they suffer from this terrible famine, this drought, where some of us flood them with water, they die from drought.
A Story Worth Telling
Without a doubt, it is a story that is worth seeing, first of all because it has good performances, including the renowned actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also directed it, it is well set, it reflects a real scenario, especially with what is lived in these countries.
Based on real events, where this young boy, now an adult in real life, is a real professional, and with a story of overcoming, of reflection, this film called The boy who tamed the wind, you should definitely watch it.

Esas historias que te muestran la triste realidad que viven algunos países, que te hacen pensar, y dar gracias por lo que tienes, donde la lucha por el pan nuestro de cada día, es su constante agonía, entre la escasez de comida, la falta de agua y recursos, para tener una mejor calidad de vida, es su mayor sufrimiento.
Sabemos que entre los países más pobres son Africanos, el capital con los que cuentan se agotan, entre los alimentos, el agua, las tierras, en un lugar donde la pobreza es extrema, es difícil sobrevivir; pensar en tu bienestar y en el de tu familia, no es tarea fácil, solo deseas encontrar una solución.
Malawi, África, es uno de los lugares con mayor pobreza en el mundo, su mayor producción es maíz, con esto ellos se alimentan, generan ingresos, pero cuando llega la sequía, las cosechas disminuyen; empeorando y agravando cada vez su triste situación económica.
En la búsqueda de Sobrevivir
Esta película nos muestra un poco de todo esto, donde un niño, al ver todo el sufrimiento de su padre, con la sequía, la falta de comida, decide hacer algo, inventar un ingenioso aparato, que los ayudara, a generar energía a partir del viento, permitiendo que de esta forma puedan producir y cosechar.
A finales de la década de 1990, vemos una familia que vivía en el pueblo de Wimbe, entre ellos un joven niño llamado Williams, sus padres sabían que él era muy inteligente, querían que estudiara y se preparara, por eso iba a la escuela, a él le gustaba leer libros, hasta que un día, encontró un viejo libro sobre electricidad en la biblioteca del colegio.
En este se explicaba cómo se podían utilizar los molinos de viento para generar energía a partir del aire en movimiento, por lo que pensó que podía construir uno, con chatarra de los desguaces y coches desguazados de los alrededores.
Debido a que la única forma de obtener agua era de un pozo, necesitaban algo para poder sacar, William quería crear una forma para conseguir agua suficiente para la cosecha, tomo unas piezas viejas, incluidas las de una bicicleta, todo esto con la única intención de crear este molino de viento, de esta forma podía hacer funcionar la bomba, y sacar agua del pozo.
Una Solución para un pueblo en conflicto
Se dice fácil, pero ¿en verdad lo es?, como creer en un joven niño que no sabe nada, que apenas están aprendiendo, estudiando, instruyéndose.
Mientras él buscaba una solución los demás luchaban por llamar la atención de su gobierno, que lo auxiliara, los apoyara, pero sobre todo que no los dejaran morir de hambre; qué difícil, es vivir en una situación así, el pensar que no tienes que comer, ni como alimentar a tus hijos, es realmente frustrante.
Para el padre de Williams, lo era, él nunca fue a la escuela, siempre fue un hombre de campo, pero deseaba que sus hijos si fueran, que aprendieran, que estudiaran en la Universidad, y se convirtieran en personas cultas y estudiadas.
Una Necesidad Real
El agua es vida, sin ella morimos, esa es la verdad, en mi país, también padecemos de esta agonía, no a todos los lugares nos llega agua fija, debemos estar buscando, comprando, pero conseguimos, y damos gracias por ello.
Al ver esta película, te hace valorar todo, tanto el lugar donde vives, tu casa, tu cama, la comida, absolutamente todo; el ser humano suele ser muy egoísta, y vivimos quejándonos, de lo que no tenemos, lo que nos hace falta, pero cuando vemos la realidad de otros, es allí donde decimos, pensamos, somos privilegiados, y no lo agradecemos lo suficiente.
Esto es lo bueno del cine, nos muestra esa otra cara, ese otro mundo que desconocemos, donde lugares como Malawi, sufren de esta terrible hambruna, de esta sequía, donde algunos nos inundamos de agua, ellos mueren por sequedad.
Una historia que vale la pena Contar
Sin duda, es una historia que vale la pena ver, primero porque cuenta con buenas actuaciones, entre ellos el reconocido actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, el cual también la dirigió, está bien ambientada, nos refleja un escenario real, sobre todo con lo que se vive en estos países.
Basada en hechos reales, donde este joven niño, convertido ya en todo un adulto en la vida real, es todo un profesional, y con una historia de superación, de reflexión, esta película denominada El niño que domó el viento, sin duda hay que mirarla.
Tiene muchas enseñanzas, con una dura realidad, que nos muestra todas las dificultades por las que transita esta población, lo que sufren, lo que viven. No les diré más, se los dejo, aquí, espero se animen a verla, y la disfruten como yo, es muy emotiva.
