Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros cerveceros del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, la realidad siempre supera la ficción es por ello que muchas veces los filmes que están basados en hechos reales resultan tan interesantes, la idea de que todo lo que se encuentra plasmado o lo que en su mayoría se encuentra en un largometraje resulta muy atrapante, es por ello que "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" me llamó poderosamente la atención teniendo como punto central la guerra de Vietnam vista desde un punto de vista diferente. Sin más que agregar tomen sus cervezas que estamos por ir a las barracas a ver algunos amigos.

The Greatest Beer Run Ever was released in 2022, it was based on the eponymous book written by Joanna Molloy and John Chickie Donohue, the film was directed by Peter Farrelly and produced by Skydance Media, it has a duration of 2 hours and 6 minutes. It is a story of war drama, everything takes place in 1967 in the middle of the Vietnam War, a 26-year-old named John Donohue finds himself like any average citizen receiving news about the war that his country is waging on the other side of the world, unfortunately His entire community receives constant news about the deaths of various neighborhood boys who enlisted and went to fight for their country. Based on this and a bet he made in a bar, our protagonist decides to use his job as a merchant marine as bridge to get to Vietnam and bring beer to his friends, being an idiotic and very noble idea in equal parts that will bring him various problems.

Es una historia de drama bélico, todo se desarrolla en 1967 a mitad de la guerra de Vietnam, un joven de 26 años llamado John Donohue se encuentra como cualquier ciudadano promedio recibiendo noticias sobre la guerra que libra su país al otro lado del mundo, desgraciadamente toda su comunidad recibe noticias constantes sobre la muerte de diversos chicos del vecindario que se enlistaron y fueron a pelear por su país, con base en esto y en una apuesta que hizo en un bar es que nuestro protagonista decide usar su trabajo de marino mercante como puente para llegar hasta Vietnam y llevarles cerveza a sus amigos, siendo está una idea idiota y muy noble a partes iguales que le traerá diversos problemas.

The construction of the world seems very consistent with respect to the focal theme of the film, although the starting point is about the war, it is not with respect to someone who is a military man but from the perspective the average American citizen had, in turn, the way in which they represent Vietnam contrasts very well as it is a completely different scenario from what was planned. It is nice that they do not depict war as something beautiful but rather as something bloody and horrible, the shock of the protagonist being what reinforces the idea that it is a field where the cruelty of war reigns, all this reveals a remarkable media manipulation which only reaffirms that realistic tone that surrounds the film.
La construcción de mundo me parece muy acorde con respecto al tema focal del filme, si bien el punto de partida es acerca de la guerra no es con respecto a alguien que sea militar sino desde la perspectiva que tenía el ciudadano estadounidense promedio, a su vez, la forma en que representan Vietnam contrasta muy bien al ser un escenario completamente diferente a lo que se tenía planteado. Es agradable que no plasmen la guerra como algo bonito sino como algo sanguinario y horrible, siendo el shock del protagonista lo que refuerza la idea de que es un campo en dónde reina la crueldad de la guerra, todo esto deja en evidencia una manipulación mediática destacable que no hace sino que reafirma ese tono realista que envuelve al filme.

The plot has a very good development, it knows very well where it wants to go and maintains that north, I find it very interesting that although the premise of the film is funny, it works very well to gradually remove that humorous character from its beginning to give way to the crudeness and bloodthirsty what the war meant, in addition, it captures how this affected both societies. Something that I have to applaud is the fact that the film does not reward its protagonist for her actions, which maintains that realistic character. Lastly, I have to mention that it is a pleasure to focus on the war conflict, having a slight air of "All Quiet On The Western Front" (You can read the review I did, that's right, I promote myself jajaja) in the sense that it shows a front full of uncertainty, chaotic and flooded with lies, although it is not the main focus of the film, it still looks good.
La trama tiene un muy buen desarrollo, esta sabe muy bien a dónde quiere llegar y mantiene ese norte, me parece muy interesante que si bien la premisa del filme es jocosa está trabaja muy bien el ir quitando poco a poco ese carácter chistoso de su inicio para dar paso a lo crudeza y sanguinaria qué significaba la guerra, además, plasma el cómo esto afectaba a ambas sociedades. Algo que he de aplaudir es el hecho de que el filme no premia a su protagonista por sus acciones lo que mantiene ese carácter realista. Por último he de mencionar que es un gusto el hecho de cómo se enfoca el conflicto bélico teniendo cierto leve aire a "All Quiet On The Western Front"(Pueden leer la reseña que le hice, así es, me hago promoción a mí mismo jajaja) en el sentido de que muestra un frente plagado de incertidumbre, caótico e inundado de mentiras, si bien no es el foco principal del filme de igual forma queda bien.

As such, the protagonist does not get value for his development but for what he represents, ignoring the fact that he is based on someone real, Chickie is the perfect example of a person who does not question but rather listens without analyzing what they are told, it is because of that when he collides with reality you can feel his bewilderment when seeing things as they really are, apart from that there is not much to highlight because as I mentioned he is a fairly average person. The rest of the characters have only fleeting appearances, being somewhat logical since it is approached from the perspective of the protagonist, however I will highlight the pleasure that it gives that there are characters that directly question Chickie for what she is doing, being the most logical and rational tell him he's an idiot.
Como tal el protagonista no agarra valor por su desarrollo sino por lo que representa, obviando el hecho de que está basado en alguien real, Chickie es el perfecto ejemplo de una persona que no cuestiona sino que escucha sin analizar lo que le dicen, es por eso que cuando se choca con la realidad se puede palpar su desconcierto al ver las cosas como realmente son, fuera de ello no hay mucho que resaltar debido a que como mencioné es una persona bastante promedio. El resto de personajes no tienen más que apariciones fugaces, siendo algo lógico puesto que se enfoca desde la perspectiva del protagonista, no obstante destacaré el gusto que da que haya personajes que directamente cuestionen a Chickie por lo que está haciendo siendo lo más lógico y racional decirle que es un imbécil.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever is an interesting war film due to the fact that it focuses on the perception of the armed conflict through the eyes of a civilian who has no idea even half as horrible as war, its humorous moments are simple but nice so there is nothing to object in that particular. It is for all of the above that it deserves 3.5 stars out of 7 for an entertaining, interesting and somewhat comical film that is good enough to watch at least once.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever es un filme bélico interesante por el hecho de enfocarse en la percepción del conflicto armado a través de los ojos de un civil que no tiene idea siquiera de la mitad de horrible que es la guerra, sus momentos jocosos son simples pero agradables por lo que no hay nada que objetar en ese particular. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 3.5 estrellas de 7 una cinta amena, interesante y algo cómica que es lo suficientemente buena como para verla por lo menos una vez.
