"The Greatest Showman" Deserves A Spot On Every Movie Lover's List@merit.ahama480d
This is a masterpiece!!!
And anyone who is a movie lover should feel the excitement to see a masterpiece, this is one of such movies. I'm still taken aback when I find people who are yet to see this movie, even after many of them listened and some have learnt the great songs featured in it, how cool and odd! Lol.
I thought hard and long for a movie I think would fit just right in any movie lover's list, "Titanic" came to mind but I figured a lot of people have actually seen this movie but one I'm not so sure of with the number of times some persons have said they haven't, it's The Greatest Showman.
I mean, how could you not have seen this masterpiece since 2017? It's a 1hr+ load of awesomeness, cool sceneries, powerful characters, and beautifully sang music. There's hardly anyone who would see this movie and not affirm to all that I've just mentioned about it.
I don't remember very much how it was for me before I decided to see this movie but considering the fact that I'd pick kdrama to any other movie, this movie must have caught my attention in anyway and one of them that I am sure of is, the music . They are all masterpieces!
Another side of this movie that everyone really should see it for is, the lessons it teaches. A story about a man who dreamed the impossible and made it come true. He became the greatest showman that ever lived because he found his calling, brought all the unusual people together.
These people created a spectacle that none can resist from watching in awe. The special appearances and guests in this movie makes it even more appealing and I'm talking about Rebecca Ferguson who I think gave the best performance of "Never enough" in the movie.
Every character played their role so well especially in the performances, with their voices, costumes and skills, I enjoyed the rope dance scenes a lot. There were very emotional scenes but tell you what! You'd feel excited and happy watching most of the scenes from start to finish.
There is also the lesson about family, friendship and finding true love in the most unexpected ways and fighting for it. If not for any other reason, I'd say the world should watch this movie for the lessons in it that teaches "Impossible can come true" and we can learn from his resilience.
I'm actually surprised to find out the lead character, the showman, is the face in Wolverine and Logan. I don't know how I missed that but not anymore, I'll find time to check those ones out. He is a remarkable actor and it was evident in this masterpiece and I highly recommend.
So if you're yet to see this masterpiece and you're a movie lover, add it to your list and thank me later hehe. I had a nice time on it even in my third time seeing it and I believe that is more than enough reason to recommend it to anyone, enjoy!
I watched this movie some years back and re-watched it some days ago and it gave the exact same feeling it gave years ago—a feeling of hope, empowerment and inspiration.
The Greatest Showman is a movie that beautifully blends powerful music, emotional journey, with magnificent visuals.
The movie centers around a boy, Hugh Jackman starring as Phineas Taylor Barnum who rose from grass to grace. Barnum was the son of a poor tailor, his father tailored clothes for a wealthy man (Mr Hallett). As the movie progressed young Barnum fell in love with young Charity(Mr Hallett’s daughter). But not too long after, Charity was sent to finishing school and young Barnum’s father passed away.
Life became tough for Barnum, he struggled to live but continued writing letters to Charity and she wrote back to him. He finally grew into a young man and married Charity, despite her parents' opposition due to his lower social status. But he promised he'd give Charity a grand life.
Barnum was an ambitious and visionary man. After he lost his office job, he risked everything, borrowed from the bank and opened a museum of oddities(which was later re-named as Barnum’s Circus). He then recruited people with unique physical traits to intrigue the public. Over time, Barnum’s circus started getting filled up with people and their shows started selling out.
This made Barnum so happy, he rose so high that he was able to give his wife—Charity, and their two children a much better life. Barnum’s oddities were happy also because they found a place that accepted them just as they were.
But Barnum became overly ambitious when he partnered with an opera singer, Jenny Lind(Rebecca Ferguson). He started chasing upper-class audiences, which jeopardized his relationship with his wife and children and led to financial strain. He started going on tours with Jenny Lind, abandoning both his family and his troupe.
In the long run, Barnum realized his mistakes. He became aware that his original performers and family were what mattered most and made everything right in the end.
Review- There were notable tracks that I love so much-
The Greatest Show: It was used as both the beginning and closing songs of this movie—a powerful song.
This Is Me: This song won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. A strong anthem of self acceptance.
A Million Dreams: An emotional song which showed Barnum’s early ambitions.
Rewrite The Stars/ A romantic dual performance between two lovers(characters) in the movie.
The Greatest Showman is an entertaining musical that inspires viewers with spectacular visuals. I strongly suggest you watch this, I would rate it a 10/10.
Hello movie lovers, I come your way once again to share with you a movie I watched recently. This is a musical that I didn’t think would be nice but it ended up exceeding my expectations. I have watched musicals like high school musical but when I was a kid and to think of watching another musical during this stage of my life, I wasn’t too sure what to expect.
THE PLOT
The show starts with a song that shows a glimpse of the future before taking the audience back in time to follow the life of the main character, “Phineaus”. We see how this main character struggled with his father to make ends meet and how he struggled after his dad died.
We also see how he struggled to win over and marry the girl of his dreams who comes from a rich family. We then see how he chased his dreams, failed on more than one attempt before finally being successful.
We also see how he lost this success after being too ambitious and not properly thinking about things. He then loses his family, business and friends temporarily before winning them all back in the show’s climax.
MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW
As someone who likes songs, this movie is a 10/10. The plot too is incredible and the actors and actresses did fantastic jobs portraying their characters. The show resolves around a circus so you get to see some nice tricks and it was nice to see that an actress such as Zendaya learnt the trapeze just to play her role well.
The movies highlights the importance of not giving up on your goals that and shows that no matter what anyone says, you can make it and make it well. It also teaches us the importance of family and not taking them for granted as we can lose them.
Then movie signifies the importance of not being tribalistic or racist but including everyone in whatever we do. It shows that even those who look the least likely to know something could be the ones to know how to do it best .
›Cine Tv Contest - The Greatest Showman: A true gem.@oluchi31551d
One of the little things in life that makes me really happy is when people are willing to share things that make them happy with me. That's because it validates me even when I don't validate myself. For me to share something I love so much with someone else, be rest assured I really like you and the chances of you messing up my views on that thing I love, are very slim. So when people share something they love with me, it makes me feel so happy.
I remember resuming one day and doing the regular resumption thing a student would do - unpacking. Then, a beloved roommate came to me, talking about this film she loved so much. She asked me if I've watched it, after all it's a classic. I said no and continued with what I was doing. When I was done, she offered to download it for us both to watch it together. I agreed and dear reader, that day, the show gained another obsessed viewer - me. I was so grateful she shared the film with me as from that day, it became one of my favorites too.
The greatest showman is a 2017 film starring actors Zac Efron, Hugh Jackman, Keala Seattle and Zendaya. When Mr. Barnum, who has always had dreams of doing better in life, is fired, he takes a loan and begins his own show business - Barnum and Bailey Circus featuring different talented individuals and misfits in society, creating the greatest shows on earth at the time. But this show brings about controversies among the locals who aren't in support of these people being on stage.
This film was a first for me in different things. It was my first time watching it? Yes. But this was the first movie where I saw Zendaya. I remember being struck by her facecard and admired her for how pretty and flexible she was. Before watching this movie, I had heard of the name Zendaya but I hadn't watched a movie where she starred in and didn't even know who she was. I was struck by her looks and when I asked my friend, she told me that that was Zendaya. She played the role of Anne Wheeler. I don't really remember so much about the character but I remember she was in love with someone and their story was cute.
This was the first time I heard the song Rewrite The Stars. It was sung by Zendaya too. I fell in love with how soulful it was from the movie and months after, I still found myself streaming it. This has been one of my favourites for a very long time, thanks to this movie that helped me discover it.
I loved all the songs in this movie. From A million dreams to Never Enough and to From Now On, I enjoyed them all and even though I don't really know some of them word for word, I hum alongside the characters while they sing their parts. Many of the songs in this show were inspiring and I loved them. There was one that was sung by the characters appreciating themselves for who they were - 'This is me'. I loved it. A million dreams was sung by Barnum to Charity, his wife played by Michelle Williams. I loved the vocals in this song a lot. That's actually one thing I remember that struck me. Michelle's vocals in this song. It was so ethereal. My top favourite song in this movie was From Now On. This was sung by Mr. Barnum when he was inspired by something I'd rather not say because I don't encourage spoilers. I loved this song because firstly, it was a masterpiece. The song makes me so emotional and it's something you can sing your heart out to. And yes, I know this one word for word.
I loved almost all the characters in this movie and seeing how they strived to make a living by letting their real selves come to life after being seen as outcasts in the society was one of the things that endeared the characters to me. Each and everyone of them had been banished from society because of one thing or the other - the way they looked, the way they behaved and many other characteristics they possessed and the society termed non-human. They all drew strength from one another and I loved it for them.
This is one of those movies with great plots and beautiful storylines that will always remain gems to me and many others. If you haven't seen this movie, know that you are missing the greatest show, just as the name implies.

Hello to all, dear Movies and TV Shows community. I hope you're all doing wonderfully today. I'd like to share my review with some opinions on the movie: The Greatest Showman, a film that has divided opinions since its release. To be honest, I came to watch this movie with certain expectations, influenced by the stellar cast that includes great actors like Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson... and of course, by the fact that it was based on the life of a famous circus entrepreneur who revolutionized entertainment. I'm not really a fan of musicals, or at least I wasn't at the time I first saw this movie, so I was expecting a great spectacle that would manage to win me over.
From the very first moment, the movie manages to capture you with its vibrant songs and colorful visual spectacle. In fact, the beginning of the movie has such energy that it feels like the climax of a story, which definitely grabs a lot of attention. However, the first 15 or 20 minutes feel more like a series of music videos than a linear cinematic narrative. This can be a plus if you enjoy a fast pace and music, of course, but it can be somewhat disconcerting for people who aren't accustomed to musicals and who expect to see more traditional writing in this film.
The great charm of this movie lies especially in its songs and soundtrack. There's no way to avoid tapping your foot to the rhythm of very catchy melodies. The team of composers really achieves a perfect mix of contemporary songs that feel very fresh. Even outside the context of the movie, it's easy to imagine listening to many of these songs on your personal playlist. I personally saved many of these songs for myself. They are authentic anthems, not only because of their rhythm but also for the powerful message of acceptance and self-esteem they convey. I was surprised to find myself humming these songs several times long after I had finished watching this movie. This is a faithful testament to how well-crafted the musical aspect of this story is.
However, I can't help but feel that, at the end of the day, it is a movie, and it falls into what I could call excessive positivity. The characters face certain conflicts and tragedies, but everything seems to be solved too quickly and easily. This is one of the aspects that I didn't fully understand; it was a bit implausible and closer to the style of a Disney movie, if I make myself clear. It's as if they had some kind of magical tool to solve any problem at a specific and ideal moment, which can be frustrating if you were expecting a more realistic representation of the challenges of circus life. Despite this, the movie itself has an interesting energy and spirit, which makes it difficult not to get carried away by its colorful rhythm. The central message of self-esteem and accepting yourself as you are resonates strongly and can be a great tool for people who are dealing with these thoughts.
In today's world where diversity is often marginalized (although some people with little brain power might think otherwise), it's refreshing to see a movie that celebrates everything that makes us different. The main character brings together people with peculiarities and gives them a space to shine, which is undoubtedly one of the strongest points of this story. Although it's evident that not all characters have the depth one would want, those that are well-developed manage to create quite moving moments that touch the heart.
As for the performances, there's not much to criticize. Hugh Jackman, as always, shines. It's not surprising that he's the backbone of the entire movie, delivering an incredible performance in both emotional and joyful scenes. Zac Efron and Zendaya also have very palpable chemistry, and their love story, although it may seem somewhat predictable, adds a romantic touch to the film without stealing the spotlight from the main story. Most characters add a touch of elegance and diversity to the plot, which I found incredible.
One of the most debated aspects of The Greatest Showman is, as I mentioned, its pace. Personally, I think the movie moves too fast at times, almost as if it were designed for a specific audience accustomed to a constant bombardment of stimuli. This makes some moments feel not entirely organic and in which emotions are not explored too deeply. Conflicts are represented and resolved so quickly. But, again, this type of movie doesn't aim to be a profound drama, but rather a visual and auditory experience that makes you feel good and makes you think about certain things.
The Greatest Showman is exactly that: a great show. Don't expect a deep narrative or unexpected plot twists, but if you want to be entertained, you'll probably end up with a smile on your face. It's not a perfect movie, and it definitely has its very noticeable flaws, but in terms of pure entertainment, it achieves its goal. If you like musicals, or you're simply looking for a Sunday movie to watch with your family or with younger viewers that will make you feel good, this is an excellent option. It's a colorful and musical spectacle that, despite having some clichés, manages to entertain and convey a positive message, which is very important nowadays.
The performances, music, and choreography are top-notch, and although the plot leaves something to be desired, the movie achieves its objective, which is to make the viewer feel good about themselves and the world. My final rating for this movie is 7.8/10. It's nowhere near a masterpiece, but it's definitely a movie I recommend, and one that I personally have watched about 3 times, and each time I watch it, I'm entertained. I hope you liked this review. I'll leave the trailer for you down below if you'd like to watch it. We'll see each other in the next ones, take care, bye bye.

Greetings @movies&Tvshows community, to entertain myself for a while I was looking for a while to see what I could see and I came across The Greatest Showman, I know it's from a few years ago, but it didn't matter, I wanted to see it again and this made me realize a few details that I ignored, or simply different opinions arose compared to when I saw it the first time, both positive and negative.
Released in 2017, under the direction of Michael Gracey, starring Hugh Jackman and a large cast and is of biographical and musical genre. The film is based on the true story of the founder of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the largest and biggest circus in the United States.
It all begins with the great dream of a little boy Phineas Phineas Taylor Barnum, “PT”, who always had peculiar visions. He recurrently accompanied his father, a tailor, to his work and, in one of his clients' houses, he met Charity, the client's daughter, and noticed her very much; this, of course, did not please the little girl's father at all, since the difference in classes was very marked, causing her to be sent to a boarding school, even so, this did not prevent them from keeping in touch by means of letters.
However, an event strikes in PT's life, his father dies, leaving him orphaned and starving; to survive he steals a loaf of bread, discovering it in the act. Even so, a woman takes pity on him and gives him an apple, this woman has peculiar physical conditions, not to say deformed, an important fact for future events.
PT does not give up and works to fulfill his dreams by selling newspapers. As she grows up, Charity agrees to marry him, even to her father's displeasure, and goes to live with him, where they form a happy marriage, having two daughters and a job.
Even with the job, this does not make him happy, because he does not feel satisfied, it was not what he dreamed of. Everything falls apart when the company decides to close, due to the loss of 12 merchant ships.
With the support of his daughters and wife, he came up with an idea, getting a loan at the bank, through a supposed endorsement, buying and opening the “American Museum of Barnum Curiosities”, where a series of wax dolls were displayed, which did not attract the attention of people.
Thanks to the opinions of his daughters, he decides to get peculiar people to give life to his museum, from a dwarf, to a bearded woman enter that repertoire, thus beginning the adventure of this visionary man, who seeks to grow in an extraordinary and spectacular environment.
The Greastest Showman shows us how important it is to dream and work for those dreams, regardless of obstacles and social status, but, above all, to know how to value what you have and yourself. There is no doubt that PT had everything to be happy from the beginning, a family that supported him in everything, even if the idea he had was crazy, even so, he did not feel self-sufficient and he looked down on himself and others, he looked for a success that everyone approved of and, no matter how much he achieved wealth and fame, he did not find true happiness and, the more he looked for external approval, the more you lose yourself, because acceptance itself is the true success that will lead you to a more extraordinary environment.
Although it has a captivating story, being a musical they should have left the musical part more fluid with the narrative in general, however, I liked the songs, I love Hugh's voice, even though they are not catalogued as transcendental, they still sound in many covers of the songs that can be appreciated in the film. There was also criticism for the lack of depth and exploitation of the characters in question, I feel that it is difficult in just two hours, so as a way to open the film to who was the founder of the largest circus in the United States, it fulfilled the task, it is not the musical of musicals, but it entertains.
I feel that he focuses on inspiring you to live the life of PT, to never give up, to not judge by appearances, to accept others as they are and to accept yourself. It also tells us how is that journey between dream and reality that, it is not easy, who said it was, but, you have to fight against all odds, against adversity, as long as you appreciate what you have, that's where we find true happiness, because we all have the potential to achieve and create something extraordinary, just persevere and be grateful throughout the process.
How captivating the story can be, where we are moved by the characters that are intertwined. How it shows us that humans are endowed with gifts that we must explore and work every day, because we are capable of dreaming and creating.
It is a refreshing story, where we are imbued with the magic of fighting for dreams, destroying the barriers between social classes and the physical aspects that compare us to each other.

9/10 Historia │ 9/10 Actuaciones │ 9/10 Sonido │ 10/10 Escenario │ 9.5/10 General

Musical movies are not the ones I like especially after trying to see Les Miserables in musical, which for me was simply unbearable, then I saw In the Woods which was more bearable and I saw it as a kind of satire to how they pose children's stories to how they present us some characters or that's my opinion, but to my surprise recently, and by pure coincidence I found a musical that I loved.
The Greatest Showman
Basically, we find a musical that presents us with two things: first, a man who was very poor, but manages to fulfill his dreams, and second, that different people, often marginalized, also have a place and have qualities that make them admirable and unique.
Basically, we see how a very poor young man, son of a tailor, is orphaned at an early age, but maintains contact via correspondence with the daughter of a wealthy man and marries her, after trying to fit into formal jobs he only manages to be fired again and again, so through deception he gets a loan and creates a museum that is unsuccessful until his daughters tell him that his exotic museum needs something alive.
So, this man starts looking for freaks, bearded women, tattooed men, dwarfs, very fat or tall people and creates a very successful musical show.
Until I will narrate the plot, but now I will share with you what I liked about this movie. First, it is period, as it is set in the 17th century, approximately 1817. Also the musicals or each of the songs contain inspiring lyrics and very good choreography.
I presume that because it is a musical and wanting the audience to feel more inspired and hopeful, than the purpose of musicals, the costumes of each of the characters in the museum, which later became a circus, are very striking.
As for the plot, at times it makes spectacular jumps in time without much explanation, but one simply skips them or was what I did to not complicate my life and enjoy the movie.
But although it is a musical, this film is based on the true story of the founder of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, who was named P. T. Barnum, who was an American show businessman, and is remembered for his entertaining hoax shows (structured falsehood, to be perceived as a truth, with a definite purpose) and exhibition of oddities, known in English as freak show.
In the cast we have Hugh Jackman as P. T. Barnum, Zac Efron as Phillip Carlyle, Michelle Williams as Charity Barnum, Rebecca Ferguson as Jenny Lind, Zendaya as Anne Wheeler, Keala Settle as Lettie Lutz “The Bearded Lady,” Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as WD Wheeler, Paul Sparks as James Gordon Bennett, Sam Humphrey as Tom, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Deng Yan, among others.
Although I tried not to get infected by the motivational spirit that usually characterizes this type of film, it was simply impossible and I just relaxed and enjoyed my inspiring musical, and then returned to reality, but I must confess that after watching it I resumed some tasks that had me fed up with more encouragement and motivation.
In short, if you want to see a colorful musical, with good songs and choreography, plus an interesting and inspiring plot, this movie is for you.

English
The Greatest Showman is a musical that tells us the story of Philips Barnum, who has always felt rejected by society and even less, who seeks at all costs to improve himself and finally be accepted by society.
A lower class boy falls in love with a rich girl, they both end up together but he feels the obligation to give her luxuries and always have by her side what she had when she was little, but her obsession with wealth ends up ruining what she loves most.
Barnum always accompanied his father who was a tailor with his wealthy clients, it is there where they met Charity, he fell in love with her and made her laugh with his jokes, each time becoming closer and sharing their dreams, when Charity's father realizes that he sends her away to a boarding school in order to get her away from Barnum, since he doesn't want his daughter to be with someone like him, but distance is no problem for them.
Barnum is orphaned, practically left on the street, looking for how to survive, he only receives help from people who are worse off than him or who are rejected because of their physical appearance.
Phineas Barnum, strives every day to stand out and be able to deserve Charity's love. A few years later he decides to propose marriage to her. His father tells him that he will never be able to make his daughter happy. Furthermore, he has always felt inferior, that she , so she becomes obsessed to show her father that she can make her daughter happy and give her everything she deserves.
It should be noted that Charity loves Phineas as he is, she doesn't need anything to be happy because with him she already is, he just doesn't realize it *
Everything in this couple's life begins to decline when the company where Phineas works goes bankrupt, he decides to mortgage his things and open a new business, a wax doll museum, but no one visits them, his daughters give him the idea of Instead of an “empty” museum, it fills it with life, that is when it occurs to him to form a “circus with phenomena.”
He sells them the idea that they will finally be able to shine and stop being the marginalized. This museum is successful, thus improving their financial situation, but some people get upset because they consider that these “aberrations of nature” should continue to be hidden.
Phineas finally manages to fulfill several of his promises to his wife and daughters, buying them their dream house, the one they visited when they were children. His girls, despite now having money, are rejected, thus damaging Phineas a little more and obsessing him even more. With money and status, his desire to be accepted is increasingly noticeable.
For this reason, Phineas begins to change his show and now looks for a high-society man who is dedicated to producing prestigious works. Philips meets Anne, a beautiful trapeze artist, and is completely infatuated with her. Anne is rejected by society, not for some reason. deformity but because of their skin color, they have a romance but Philips in front of the public feels ashamed of his partner.
Phineas meets a famous European singer who can turn him into a legitimate businessman, since he plans to lead a tour of her in the United States, she seems in love with him, when he finally feels on top he invites his parents from his wife to show them that he achieved what they did not think, but his wife seems upset and uncomfortable in the face of this situation, her husband has changed, he needs more and more approval, he betrays his friends the "freaks" by being ashamed of them, His priorities changed, his family took a backseat and money prioritized all his interests.
Jenny puts Phineas between a rock and a hard place after being rejected by him. If he doesn't accept her, she won't do any more concerts, so she gives him a kiss in the middle of the concert. And when he was caught on camera, her circus is burned by the people who never accepted him, Charity abandons him and goes with her parents, totally agreeing with what her parents told her before they got married.
Phineas realizes and realizes that they were always happy together, they didn't have to change anything, she always loved the man she was, she never had to take anything apart.
I loved this movie, I have always liked musicals so for me that was not a problem, the performances are incredible and I adore the chemistry that Zwndaya and Zac Efron have, and they also brought back very good memories from the time of They at Disney, I know it is not a film for the entire public, but it is very good and it touches on a fairly strong topic, which is social acceptance, it is something that continues to be a strong topic today.

Hello everyone, I hope you are very well, for a long time I wanted to share with you this movie, I never get tired of watching it, it's one of my favorites, how it develops, the characters, the soundtrack, it's incredible so let's talk about the movie THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.
Directed by Michael Gracey, I want to emphasize that it is not just a movie; it is a whirlwind of emotions, a celebration of talent, diversity and above all the pursuit of dreams. This cinematic work immerses us in the fascinating world of P.T. Barnum. The film opens with the song "The Greatest Show", setting the tone for a thrilling journey. Hugh Jackman takes on the role of P.T. Barnum, an ambitious impresario who creates a circus that defies the social standards of the time. As I wrote earlier, it is backed by an unforgettable soundtrack, which with each song immerses us in the lives of the unusual performers who become the essence of the show.
The Greatest Showman I love the way they combine and highlight the diversity of each character. From Zendaya as Anne, a trapeze artist in love, to Keala Settle as Lettie Lutz, the Bearded Woman, this film highlights the beauty in difference, I have always said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder In a world that often focuses on conformity and certain standards, that daily must break down these stereotypes, the film reminds me that richness comes from embracing and celebrating uniqueness. In addition to the main plot, The Greatest Showman also addresses universal themes such as love, self-improvement and the importance of following one's dreams. The colorful cinematography and choreographies are amazing and every detail was taken care of to perfection.
The plot revolves around Barnum's struggle for social recognition and acceptance. In his quest for success, Barnum learns that the true value of life is not only in public recognition, but in relationships and authenticity. The film conveys the incredible and powerful message that regardless of our origins, social class or otherwise, we all deserve the opportunity to shine and be accepted for who we are.Now I want to highlight the soundtrack of the film, it is composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, their songs like "This Is Me " to the emotional "Rewrite the Stars " performed with Zendaya and Zac Efron, each song is seamlessly integrated into the narrative, highlighting the emotions of the characters.
Ultimately, The Greatest Showman is a reminder that our differences are our strengths and that our dreams are worth pursuing with courage, as well as, the strength of diversity and the beauty that emerges when we embrace our authentic identities. At the end of the film, it invites us to rise up and celebrate what makes us unique and thus our own in every journey in pursuit of greatness.
Here I was, thinking of what movie to use and start my summer Cinema streak.
Well, while scrolling through my neverending library of downloaded unwatched films, I came across one I promised myself I would absolutely watch, plus it was the perfect genre to what I was yearning to watch.
So I asked myself..
Dearest seki, why not start your cinema stream with the greatest show?
Plot
This story tells us the tale of show business sensation PT Barnum.
It shows his rise to fame from humble beginnings using to his colorful acts, quick wits, pure determination and ever wide imagination.
I loved every bit of it.
From the beautiful circus acts to the wonderful songs and emotion's felt.
It was just one would expect from the greatest show.
Now there are a few things that I loved exceptionally well in this show.
Here they are...
1. The Cast
This show had a lovely cast list, folks of different nationalities and different places of Fame, both old faces in the movie industry and new, but the one face I was happy to see was this handsome bloke😭🥺
Now normally, I've been a fan of musical's ever since watching the film High School Musical, in my younger years.
So it was a real treat, seeing my long lost actor Zac Efron on here and seeing that age hasn't made him lose his voice nor moves - it may have made it a bit better 😭😫
Ahh I feel my fanboy urges coming back on 😭😭😭
Another special actor that they brought on is the ever talented Zendaya and it was an even better surprise to ship both her and Zac together. The chemistry was mind blowing 😭, the choreography was even better 🤯.
Siri... Find me a trapeze girlfriend 😭😭
Regardless of the love interest, the other characters were just as colorful, entertaining and crucial to the story.
2. The Choreography and Musical Numbers
One beautiful thing about musicals are they're ability to pass on the emotions through their music and dance.
This show had quality dance and song routines and my best was...
With the lovely choreography and voices, they conveyed the story well, shared their emotions and really brought out the true essence of a musical 🥺
3. The Main Character
It wouldn't be a stretch to say PT Barnum was everyone's favorite character in the movie, even me (if we remove Zac from the list😅).
He had the genuine vibe for show business and I feel it just wasn't acting.
Everything he did was so natural and humane.
With his skills he made the audience fall in love with his character, understand his shortcomings and be moved by his feelings when he rose above those shortcomings.
I'm trying my best not to spoil it (not even a little bit) for the unlikely chance that I'm not the last to watch this film, and as such I must end my review here.
These are my more accurate and organized thoughts of The Greatest Showman.
It was an absolute joy to watch and I'm grateful for having come across the movie.
I give it a solid 10 stars and if you haven't watched it...
You're really missing the greatest show.
Music goes beyond just being sound art, there are ways in which it is able to change people's lives, in this sense it is able to take us to other places, show us not only an incredible show, but even make us part of this.
The Greatest Showman is a movie that tells the life of a person of humble class who seeks to conquer his dream of being the best circus presenter, where to achieve his goals he looks for the strangest people with peculiarities to be shown in this where all the spectators can be fascinated.
The first time I saw this movie I almost cried with emotion, music always plays an important part in terms of the creation of the film, it is that if you know music this can tell you the plot without even realizing it, in this movie an interesting magic happens if you pay attention.
This song from the very beginning makes you see how fascinating this story is going to be, the power of execution and its classical writing style with pop elements make it one of my favorites to remember and see it as a song of overcoming when one feels a little discouraged.
We all have a million dreams or so, we always look to make them possible despite the circumstances are not or do not look promising, we look for the way to achieve that dream and make it possible.
I remember this song was trending a few years ago when the movie was recent, I didn't see the movie at that time, but this song is definitely more than incredible for its expressiveness, in addition to the projection it gives to the public, because it requires a certain level of singing technique to achieve such exquisite notes, to the point that the movie characters cried in this presentation.
One of the songs that impacted me the most not only for the performance it transmits in the movie, but for the vocal power of Keala Settle, who even looked for the song live to see how she sang and was more than amazed at the way a song can move the feelings of the artists, the message of this song is something that has to be felt and make you feel, something that is present with everything you can see the videohere.
There are so many overcoming emotions in this song, it's more than powerful how we can be what we want to be and how the lyrics feel with the music as a whole, the choir does a more than wonderful job, in powerful the atmosphere that is created around this song, and that is an essay the aforementioned video. The break is more than powerful and how it reaches everyone in that room.
The Greatest Showman is a highly recommended movie, in my case more for the music and what it conveys, since I know the potential it has to move the feelings of anyone, this goes beyond being a show, it is an artistic piece.
How many humans are on earth? how many languages and tribes? the really difficult thing about diversity is, "how to bring together such a gigantic number of things?"
But, music did.
Some of us definitely have
hear about, human emotions are easiest to touch with songs. Songs can make people laugh, cry, get excited, and even angry. As soon as that music travels to the heart.
The Greatest Showman is here as a memory refresher for lovers of musical series like Glee or High School Musical.
However, if the two that I mentioned above are fiction, The Greates Showman is presented by Michael Gracey as an autobiographical film whose inspiration is one of the richest men in America in the 19th century, Phineas Taylor Barnum.
Presenting a series of other big artists such as Zac Efron and Zendaya, The Greates Showman managed to become the fifth best-selling musical drama in the world.
The story begins when young Barnum joins his father on a visit to a conglomerate family that has a daughter named Charity. Feeling attracted to young Barnum, Charity wants to be friends with him, but the difference in social status between Charity's wealthy father and Barnum's mere tailor makes this a fundamental problem. The cliche theme between the rich and the poor is wrapped in melodious songs. Making he Greatest Showman worthy of being a watching list for families.
Barnum's brilliant ideas gave birth to a best-selling circus of its time. The motive of revenge against his wife's parents who seemed to condescend to him because they came from the anal of a tailor, Barnum racked his brains to be able to make the show interesting so that he could win the coffers of money that he could prove to Charity's parents. Create a "freaks" circus.
Barnum invites Charles Stratton - a miniature human (Sam Humphrey) whom he accidentally meets at a bank, then Lettie Lutz (Keala Settle) - a bearded woman who has a melodious voice, and other "freaks" to fruition.
All the townspeople flocked to watch Baarnum's performance. Celebrating humanity in the context of equality for all humans is really felt here.
As an autobiographical film that tells the stories of successful people, Greates Showman has a fairly fast pace and awkward story exploration.
A story that seems rushed to finish and a climax that doesn't feel memorable in my opinion.
However, because I was interested in the original soundtrack of this film, especially Keala Settle's acting power when delivering "This Is Me", it really reached my heart, I still enjoyed it until it was finished.
Moral Message
_____
The Greates Showman presents several interesting points that I can learn from, including:
From the character Phineas Taylor Barnum, I learned that the success aimed at the revenge plan will result in hurting the people around us
Popularity dazzles our eyes, so we must be careful not to stumble and fall
how successful we are, how rich we are, in the end we realize, that a family that loves us with all its heart is the most comfortable place to go home.
Ok, Hive ... that's all my review about this film, I hope it helps you find something before or after watching it. have a nice day!

›The Greatest Showman is the greatest movie (Review)90@fabian981887d
Hello to all the community of film and television lovers. Today I want to make a review of this magnificent movie that after so long I could see, sincerely this is the quintessence of the movies I've seen, as it integrates everything that a good movie should show.
To begin with let's talk about the technical aspects of the movie. The greatest showman was directed by Michael Gracey and released in 2017, it follows the real-life story of the founder of the famous American circus Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the film has a very high-quality cast, for example, we have Hugh Jackman who plays P. T. Barnum, Zac Efron who gives life to Phillip Carlyle and Zendaya as Anne Wheeler.
The Greatest Showman tells the story of the beginning of the great Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus and his attempt to grow up in a world where his show is not so accepted. P. T. Barnum is a boy who comes from a very inferior social class and has always been marginalized because of that, his father who is a tailor takes him to accompany him to do a job in the house of an important client and it is there where he meets Charity and falls in love with her, but Charity's father rejects him for being poor but they do not give up and with love and dreams, they manage to marry when they are older.
The problems begin when P. T. Barnum is voted out of the accounting firm where he works, so with 2 daughters and a wife he sets the goal of giving them everything they need, so he cunningly gets a loan from the bank for $10K and buys a wax museum with a macabre style, but it starts to go wrong because people do not like what he offers in his museum.
So he comes up with the idea of showing a Freak Show, humans with deformities or exceptional characteristics. So he looks for the bearded woman, the world's most obese man, the world's tallest man, the world's most tattooed man, the dog man, among other artists.
The most valuable thing the movie brings to the table is that no matter your characteristics or differences, you are worth the same as everyone else and you can be someone who can go far if you believe in yourself and put your fears aside. That idea was the one that convinced the artists to join him and his project.
And his company starts to go great, as everyone loves the show and Barnum starts to earn a lot of money, but for him, it is not enough because he is swayed by the critics who say that his show is worthless because it is not suitable for the upper class of society. So Barnum tries to find talent for the upper class with the help of Phillip Carlyle who is a famous composer of works for the upper class but he is broke, so Barnum starts to gain an upper-class audience but he forgets his friends from the show.
Then, he meets Jenny Lind a famous opera singer, whom he hires and they start touring all over the country, and after 93 concerts, Jenny cancels her contract with Barnum and he ends up with nothing and back to his family and the show. But upon arriving in her hometown, she learns that the establishment has been burned down, and the culprits are a mob of drunks who were always harassing the cast of the show, calling them names and even spitting on them.
After this incident he has nothing left because he is an insatiable and greedy man, his wife leaves him, his friends from the show distance themselves from him, the bank repossesses everything and he is left on the ground just as it all started, there Barnum reflects and realizes that he was going too far for greed and to gain the acceptance of people who did not care about him.
So he decides to get his wife and friends back from the circus, but they have no money to rebuild the building. But with the help of Phillip Carlyle they manage to buy some land on the docks and with new tents they manage to make their show bigger and better and take it to the next level. Then the movie ends with Barnum attending a ballet recital of his daughters with his wife whom he loves and finally gives her everything he promised her, to be with her and dream together regardless of material things.
What I liked
Well, what can I say, everything that this movie teaches or shows, I loved it very much, because it teaches values that are being lost nowadays. For example, it teaches:
Do not judge people by their appearance: we saw that those who were called freaks were people with exceptional gifts, the bearded woman had an incredible voice, the fattest man in the world had a big heart and the smallest man in the world could brighten the day. All around us we get people like this, who are marginalized by society because of their color, culture, characteristics, language. They are treated like animals and even persecuted, but if we look beyond appearances we will find exceptional people.
Money is not the most important thing: Here we see how Barnum focuses all his life to try to give his wife a comfortable life with many luxuries, but by pursuing that dream he almost loses everything What is valuable, something that all the money in the world can't buy. In real life we see that happen, people who dedicate countless hours to work and pursue a dream, but forget that the time you dedicate to your family and those you love is worth much more than all the money in the world, because when you leave, those memories are the ones that remain.
Social classes, another way of discrimination: Something that is very marked in the movie is the social segregation that exists in the world, where the less privileged people in a material sense, lack the opportunities in life, there is a scene in the movie where Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron) and Anne Wheeler (Zendaya) go to the theater together, but Philip's parents to see him with someone of a lower class, horribly denigrate Anne. Nowadays we see that many people around us and more than everything on the internet, think that because they have a lot of money they can treat badly whoever they want or feel superior, that is wrong because we are all equal and money does not save anyone from the great evil that all humanity suffers: Death.
One last thing I loved about this great movie was the soundtrack, it's the best I've ever heard, it's a mix of musical and lyrics with a powerful message, here you have the official soundtrack of the movie, 13 songs that you will enjoy a lot:
I think it was that they didn't tell more in-depth the story of all the characters of Barnum's cast, of course I know that the story revolves around Barnum mainly but if they had only done that the story would have been a little more complete, also to know more about Philips character and how this movie is taken from real life, even if they were just showing how it all ended. But other than that it's a wonderful movie.
In conclusion, The Greatest Showman is a wonderful movie and I assure you that you will not regret watching it, it is highly recommended and I want to give it a score of 9/10.
Thank you very much for reading this review, I hope you liked it, the images used here are not of my authorship and that's why below I leave the links from where I took them, again thank you very much, and see you until the next one.
›Film Review: 'The Greatest Showman' (2017) # Not often a musical film inspires me@alies22817d
Not often a musical film inspires me like what the Greatest Showman did. The film is cheesy and cliché, but I don't mind. Rows of songs and the energy of the performer are more than enough to cover the lack of a plot. It's nice to see spectacular and touching musical sequences presented one by one in front of your eyes. This film is proof that the quality of a musical depends on the songs in it.
I don't know much about musicals. Either where, plot or song first. But I'm pretty sure that The Greatest Showman's plot was built on the song. The story is conditioned to fit the song that was made before by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, who won Oscar last year through La La Land. The plot is just an excuse for the film to present musical numbers. So when it says that this film is based on a true story, we shrug our shoulders. We know that director Michael Gracey only used the premise and created their own story. Is he loyal to the original story? I'm sorry, but I don't care.
The Greatest Showman should be a biography of P.T. Barnum, a 19th-century showman who could be considered the creator of the first circus. However, the film is so wild and excited that it may be synonymous with the circus itself. The film looks like a stage musical theater which is packed into a Hollywood film. Barnum had stated that the audience did not mind being cheated because they were having fun. Presumably this also applies to the film. He doesn't care about logic or character as long as the audience stomps to the beat.
To make sure we got entangled from the start, the film immediately opened the track "The Greatest Showman", where Hugh Jackman, in a mayorian costume, danced and sang with a circus troupe accompanied by a beat of beat music that promised something grandiose but successfully accomplished. "This is everything you want, everything you need".
He is P.T. Barnum. Although born from a poor family, Barnum had big dreams and maybe also a taste that was commensurate, because from a young age he had a crush on a rich girl named Charity. Barnum was determined to give him a decent life. Through a musical number, they suddenly became adults and became Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams who already had two children.
Barnum office work. But not for a long time because the company suddenly went bankrupt. No longer afraid of losing anything, Barnum risked everything to open the museum. When this effort also failed, he again bet by turning his museum into a show for "strange people", ranging from dwarf men (Sam Humphrey), bearded women who have melodious voices (Keala Settle), heaviest humans, tallest humans, hairy humans, tattooed humans, to acrobats and animal shows. Exaggerating facts doesn't matter, because that's how Barnum sells.
In order to be more successful, Barnum recruited Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron), a theater producer who had an elite association circle which later introduced him to the opera singer, Jenny Lind (Rebecca Ferguson). Barnum's meeting with Phillip took place in a bar which was presented in a musical scene involving beer thrown here and there with precise choreography and timing. While Jenny fascinates Barnum through the melancholy song "Never Enough".
Jenny opened the way for Barnum to enter the upper class environment while winning the hearts of critics. But on the other hand, he began to ignore his wife, child and circus. Will Barnum's circus be destroyed? Hmm, you know better. There are some slightly dark elements waiting ahead, but The Greatest Showman chooses not to linger so that it can provide a safe spectacle for all family members. The film makes Barnum a noble person, though a little capitalist. For him the circus is not just entertainment, but also a place to reach dreams.
Jackman plays his character with a passionate spirit and a face that is almost always happy. Understandably, this is indeed the passion project. His singing ability need not be debated anymore, because he once played (and he played and sang well) in Les Miserables. In fact, Jackman began his career in the musical world. He even got a Tony Award trophy, a special award for theater.
The film is about 105 minutes long, while the total song is 11 songs. If reduced by credit, it can be concluded that almost every 10 minutes we will be presented with a musical number. And this is good. Films give us enough pauses to breathe and prepare ourselves to make goose bumps again. The most striking song is "This Is Me" which was blown away by the circus members when they were ostracized. But my favorite is "Rewrite the Stars", where Efron dances with Zendaya through the trapeze in an empty circus tent. This brief moment sweetly illustrates the romance between the two.
This film did not arouse me because of the drama. I was touched precisely because of the songs. The film is composed of splendid singing, dancing and energy, where there isn't much else in the middle. In one scene, theater critics told Barnum that what he did was not art. The Greatest Showman is not an art film. He is not the highest class of cinema. But rest assured that he will give pleasure to the audience. This is the most appropriate form of criticism resistance. Barnum certainly agreed.
›The Greatest Showman (film): Much better than i expected70@gooddream2886d
I am not a big fan of musical films. I always get tired of them and switch them off early. This was even true when I was at first excited that one of my all time favorite Broadway musicals, Les Miserables, was turned into a big-budget movie. Therefore, I came into this expecting to not like it. I liked it.
Hugh Jackman stars as P.T. Barnum, who I am certain most people can remember, was the pioneer of the a new form of entertainment in what would eventually be called the Barnum and Bailey circus. As a child we looked forward to this exact company coming to Nebraska every year. It was really something else. I don't know if there are any pictures of these events, i presume there are, but this was long before digital cameras existed so you'll just have to take my word for it.
I nearly turned the movie off because the musical numbers happen very frequently and like i said, I am not a fan of this sort of thing. However, the songs are actually pretty good and even though I am a metal fan i found them to be wonderfully written.
I would imagine that the choreography was incredibly difficult to pull off and I would actually be interested to know how long it took them to work that out. I would image a long time. Some of the CGI is pretty poor such as when the elephants and tigers are put into sequences, but that is easy to look past as it is only part of the film for a few minutes.
The movie received some negative press because the movie doesn't follow the real-life story of Barnum very closely at all. I was (and still am) unaware of the real history, but i suppose for the average audience member it doesn't really matter since I don't think the intention was ever to turn this musical into a historically accurate musical-biopic. Sometimes I think real critics are trying too hard to be harsh on a film.
Whatever, these producers cried all the way to the bank because the film grossed $440 million on a budget of just over $80 million.
If you find musical / dance films to be stupid, give this one a shot anyway, because i hate them, and I enjoyed this film. I did dock a few points because the movie drags on at parts and I have to admit that I skipped a little bit of it.
Review of the musical movie "The Great Showman" without spoilers.
The Great Showman is a film of the musical genre released in December 2017, the first work of the new director Michael Gracey, this film is suitable for all pubic and arrives at the movie theaters by 20th Century Fox. Set in the 19th century it is the biography of PT Barnum, creator of the Barnum Circus and founder of the most famous and oldest circus in the United States, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
It is the story of P. T. Barnum (Hugh Jackman) the son of a tailor who after the death of his father must grow up in the streets of New York, despite hunger and hardship believes in himself, in his dreams and abilities. Poverty is not limited to your creativity, it is agile and has a great power of conviction, with your intelligence and ability to lie you will achieve the road towards the realization of your dreams.
Mr. Barnum after being dismissed from his job has the idea of making a circus with the participation of people with particular characteristics or congenital deformities, at that time these people had to live hidden because they were usually sacrificed at birth. A show like this that brought together all kinds of human oddities was something socially challenging, a scourge that Barnum must fight.
The first minutes of filming are purely musical but for our tranquility after this time the story takes its cinematic direction with conventional performances, developing a script that makes us feel identified with the life of the protagonist, the plot makes us reflect about dreams when confronted with ethics and family with a message of self-esteem, and acceptance. The argument touches sensitive issues such as discrimination, classism and racism in a musical context.
The actors Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson give us extraordinary performances, in a film so dynamic and fast that if you blink you lose a good part, it is entertaining and after 105 minutes of the film you are eager to see more, because This type of movies very little are made. It is a refreshing option in sight we can see majestic shows and some beautiful love stories. If you like romance and musicals this movie is for you, otherwise I do not recommend it.
The best of the production is costumes, dances, songs, set design and photography. Outside the circus the photograph is sober, the pastel colors stand out but inside the circus it changes to a festival of colors and lights that resemble fire, in addition to contrasting the colors in an original way the photograph also takes care of highlighting the beauty of the feminine faces and the elegance of the knights.
The dances are very elaborate, demonstrate the outstanding skills of the dancers, modern and with contemporary music that in the context of a period film is strange, but this contrast makes allusion that PT Barnum was ahead of his time and that the show that presented was new. The songs are compositions of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul the authors of the soundtrack of La La Land.
With this film Hugh Jackman is reunited with his roots, his beginnings in acting were in the musical theater before becoming Wolverine, with his song and dance he shows us that he has not lost faculties, because he does not become opaque next to the new king of the musicals Zac Efron, both do incredibly well. Hugh Jackman was at all times involved in the production, since it was a personal project, return to its roots and change the way you see the film musicals, which are usually long and heavy.

›Review Film: THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (2017)79@film-trail3041d
Please go to Google, then type "Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus" in the image search field. You will see dancers and clowns wearing colorful costumes, animals performing attractions, stage with a lively artistic order. The circus has stopped operating since May 21, 2017. The film debuted director Michael Gracey is trying to turn a similar splendor on the big screen, throwing the audience to 146 years ago when P. T. Barnum founded Ringling Bros.. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, also called "The Greatest Show on Earth", Rather than authenticity, the Barnum show (played by Hugh Jackman through unchallenged charisma) puts the magic behind the public to be stunned, dazzled, laughing. "Your audience is happier when you come out than when you get in," says Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron), the playwright who will become Barnum's partner. Festive and fun entertainment. That's the goal, no matter though a little trick needs to be applied: lumping a man's stomach with a pillow, putting stilts on the man's highest leg. Not entirely fraudulent, just exaggerating in the name of entertainment.
The Greatest Showman carries the same goal, so the musical is the right choice, because the formulaik biopic will not be able to represent the orgy in the Barnum stage. To achieve its goal, Pasek & Paul wrote songs staged with stomping, boisterous by instruments as well as the vocal rumble of the cast. The film realizes the potential to be a festive entertainment, making it strive (always) to pursue the festivity since The Greatest Show as the opening number rings, rather than sorting by emotional precision. The row of songs that are like a versionoverproduced from Fall Out Boy are hard to distinguish from one another too polished too smoothly in the studio, tipping off the original emotions of the actor.
It is undeniable that the decorative décor that paints the circus at the peak of its popularity invites clicking awe. Seamus McGarvey's aerial cinematography (Atonement, The Avengers) has more than enough imagery to realize visionary performance of P. T. Barnum. The range of players is also full of totality handling the complexity of each choreography. Zendaya as Anne, a trapeze artist, is easy to fall in love with, while Lettie Lutz the Bearded Woman invites us to cheer for her call. But imagine watching La La Land consisting entirely of epilogue moments. Phenomenal, but the magic does not work maximally when presented continuously.
This Is Me and Rewrite the Stars are the most successful musical numbers, because they contain more than splendor: against segregation and expression of love. Barnum and his wife Charity (Michelle Williams) talks about love, but the full moon in the sky and the dance of Williams through the sheets of white sheets are not as intimate or romantic as the exchange of flavors Anne and Phillip. Anne floated lightly on the ceiling, as if she wanted to fly away from Phillip, but her gaze was hard to escape from a distinguished white man. While Phillip continues to struggle to reach his love.
The manuscripts by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon may not provide space to permeate the ups and downs of Barnum's tumultuous life as well as controversy, but enough to make the audience as understanding. He collects marginalized people, providing them with the opportunity to be highlighted like a star, because he himself is underestimated. She fought for reluctance to see her beloved daughters as miserable as she was, though this dragged Barnum on the dark side of her success. Barnum presents entertainment, invites the audience to laugh, tired of finding a daily life that is constrained by the gloom.

›The Greatest Showman--Movie Review--The Rare Hollywood Word-of-Mouth Success Story@mctiller3081d
The Greatest Showman is the rare example of a word of mouth success of a movie in Hollywood.
The movie released December 20 and had a rocky start to mediocre reviews and an opening of only $8.8 million, but then it did something almost unheard of in modern Hollywood, it made more money the second weekend. A lot more. It grossed 15 million the second weekend, nearly doubling the first weekend. Most movies go the opposite direction, the second weekend you get a huge drop off.
The question is, why is this?
The movie is simple minded. It doesn’t tell the exact history. Kinda glosses over the fact P.T. Barnum exploited a lot of his workers.
But dang it.
It’s a fun movie.
Hugh Jackman plays P.T. Barnum from the age of 20 or so, until he’s in his mid 40s. Congrats to Mr. Jackman for still being able to be cast as a 20-year-old.
Barnum is the sin of tailor, where he meets his future wife, Charity Hallett, in the home of one of his father’s clients. But when his father unexpectedly passes away and Barnum is now a homeless orphan. But somehow he still keeps in touch with Charity.
Years later as a young man, Barnum comes to Charity’s family to ask her for hand in marriage, and her father reminds him that she would come crawling back soon. P.T. and Charity, played by Michelle Williams, build their life as the standard poor but happy family. Even on the day his loses his job, because his boss’s business went bankrupt.
Barnum is working diligently as a number cruncher, is that job I don’t know, but it’s what he does, when he tries to sell the idea to his boss the idea of a flying machine. The boss ignores in him and proceeds to tell him everyone is dismissed because the company’s fleet of ships is now at the bottom of ocean.
Now employed, Barnum uses his free time to dream up a museum of strange things. Using the some stolen manifest of the fleet from his previous boss, he uses that to secure a loan from the bank.
His museum of strange wax figures is not successful. Coming home depressed one evening his daughter tells him he needs live things in his museum. He drafts his first performer a twenty-two year old man who suffers from dwarfism. Barnum continues to draft people to his cause, by using the large posters he sends out the word that he is looking for people to be in his show. People of all different attributes arrive. Fat people, tall people, people covered in hair, people who swing on the trapeze, people who are covered head to toe in tattoos all come to Barnum and he is off and running.
The early days of his show are met with a critical review from the theater critic from the New York Times. Barnum ignores him because there are so many people coming to his show, which is exactly what has happened in real life with the movie. The movie hit with poor reviews from proper critics has some how survived and thrived bringing smiles to a lot of people.
Eventually he partners up with Philip Carlyle, played by Zac Efron loosely based on James Bailey, the Bailey in Barnum and Bailey's Circus. Barnum partners with Carlyle in order to get access to the super wealthy.
The rest of the movie, is pretty predictable. Barnum becomes more famous. He begins to ignore his performers. He eventually gets into trouble with his wife. So on and so forth.
But the strength of the movie isn’t in the plot. It’s in the music and the musical numbers. This is what has given The Greatest Showman it’s word of mouth success.
Final Thoughts
I recommend seeing this in the theaters before it leaves.
Directed by first time director Michael Gracy, written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon, staring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya, the movie is pure joy and entertainment.
This old-time fun musical is just what everyone needs right now

The Greatest Showman is a biographical musical from the songwriters of La La Land that stars Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, who starts out as a penniless orphan but becomes the world-renowned creator of the circus. There's a bit of language ("damn," the racial slur "spooks," "oh God!," etc.) and violence (protesters burn down the circus, a man slaps a young boy), as well as some drama surrounding the movie's interracial romance, which was taboo at the time. But overall the plot and songs are easy enough for tweens to follow -- and with Zendaya and Zac Efron co-starring, the movie is likely to appeal to them. Although it's based on factual events, the movie only covers a short period in Barnum's life and glosses over certain aspects of his career. It's not garnering the same kind of acclaim as La La Land, but The Greatest Showman's charming leads and circus scenes should make it a fun pick for families who enjoy history, musical theater, and, of course, the circus.
The film is directed by Michael Gracey, who debuted with this title after some time working in the visual effects department of several productions such as "Cubbyhouse" (2001), "Shuang tong" (2002), "Ned Kelly" (2003) or "The Magician" (2005). In the cast of the film there are a lot of stars headed by Hugh Jackman as the circus showman and businessman. Rounding out the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and the actress and singer Zendaya.
WHAT'S THE STORY?
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is a biographical musical about young Phineas T. Barnum's life as a child, entrepreneur, museum owner, circus producer, and entertainment producer. As a young boy, Phineas "Finn" (Ellis Rubin), the son of a tailor, meets Charity (Skylar Dunn), the daughter of one of his father's wealthy clients. He makes her laugh and earns a slap from her father for it, but the spark between them lasts throughout their adolescence, even while she's away at boarding school and he's an orphan in the streets. Years later, Finn and Charity (now played by Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams) marry and have two girls. He manages to secure a loan to open up a museum of oddities, and when that starts to fail, he's inspired by a brief encounter with a little person to invite unusual-looking folks -- including bearded lady Letty Lutz (Keala Settle), Tom Thumb (Sean Humphrey), and black brother-and-sister trapeze artists W.D. Wheeler (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Anne Wheeler (Zendaya) -- to join a show focused around them. With a little embellishment from costumes and makeup, he opens what will become the first circus. Although Barnum's show is critically panned, the masses love it. He earns a fortune, but Barnum can't stop looking for approval from the upper crust.

›Mi Review de The Greatest Showman@mauriciovite3114d
Queridos Steemians

›The Greatest Showman - Movie Review85@coldsteem3120d
Dear Hollywood:
This is how it's done. Forget the critics. They have no idea what they are talking about. The Greatest Showman is the classic underdog story told in musical format. It is everything La La Land aspired to be, but will be lucky to earn half the accolades of last years Oscar sweetheart. But it succeeds because it is good. The music, the dancing, the story, the originality. Oscar be damned. This film is good and will make plenty of money from the unwashed masses who don't vote for Oscar.
The Greatest Showman is a celebration of life. An examination of the difference between art and the things that make us happy. It is an interesting dichotomy that feels ironic given the critical reception this movie has received. The film takes liberties with the true story of PT Barnum who delighted generations of kids (of all ages) with his flashy showmanship and embrace of human oddities. The story has a strong inclusiveness subtext without feeling preachy or political. It is a delicate balancing act, masterfully constructed by writers Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon.
The Greatest Showman came out of the gates with purpose. The film opens with Barnum (Hugh Jackman) delivering an opening number backed by the percussion of stomping feet. The film utilizes exceptional cimenatography to capture tightly choreographed acrobatics to compliment the excellent musical score. It is large, flashy and impressive. The film tells Barnum's backstory in music before tracking his marriage to Charity (Michelle Willims) and his eventual rise to stardom, alongside his setbacks. We know how this story ends, yet I found myself rooting for him to succeed. And to make good decisions personally. The balance of musical and dialogue kept the story moving at a nice pace.
Okay, so the film wasn't perfect. It was a bit predictable. The CGI animals were imperfect, and there were a couple continuity issues that were very minor. But those things drive me nuts. There is a scene where Barnum puts on his hat and the cut shot shows him with it off. There was another scene where he has a glass with a bit of whiskey in it that is empty in the next shot. Those are minor niggles, but enough to make me lower my rating to within the stratosphere.
Having seen Jackman in Les Mis, I had no doubt he would be exceptional. Likewise Zac Efron, who has a history with musical productions. I was pleasantly surprised by Michelle Williams, who was exceptional in her musical scenes. My favorite performances were with Efron singing duet with Disney star Zendaya. They sounded great together. The choreography went beyond simple dancing, incorporating circus elements in many of the numbers. The performances, music and choreography elevated a decent story to a magical experience.
I thought The Greatest Showman was better than expected. It enjoys a nice rating at IMDb right now with an 8/10 rating. Audiences seem to be enjoying the film more than the critics. Not surprising. While the film had some minor issues, the magical qualities of this film far outweigh any minor issues. With a PG rating, this 105 minute film is good for the entire family. A feel good movie to round out my 2017. It should be competing heavily with shape of water at the Oscars, but the poor critical reception may dampen some of those aspirations. In spite of the fact that this film is far superior to last years darling La La Land. Worth seeing in theaters. 8.5/10.

I don't understand why Hugh Jackman keeps doing roles that require him to sing, when he cannot sing. I can sing better than him and I suck. If he really likes singing so much then he should do an intensive course with a one on one professional vocal coach. That is all I wanted to say about it.
