¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles la reseña de una película dramática que vi hace poco y me pareció bastante poética más allá del drama. Les estoy hablando de La habitación de al lado.
Hello friends! Today I'm dropping by to bring you a review of a dramatic movie that I saw recently and I found it quite poetic beyond the drama. I'm talking about The Room Next Door.
Trama - Plot
La película sigue a dos amigas que se reencuentran después de muchos años tras enterarse que una de ellas está enferma de cáncer. Martha, una periodista de guerra tiene una historia importante que contar que involucra a su hija con la que no tiene una buena relación, e Ingrid es una escritora que le teme a la muerte. Esta última deberá enfrentar su miedo cuando Martha le cuenta que quiere acceder a la eutanasia para tener una muerte digna y le pide que la acompañe en ese duro momento estando en la habitación de al lado.
The film follows two friends who reunite after many years after learning that one of them is ill with cancer. Martha, a war journalist, has an important story to tell involving her daughter with whom she does not have a good relationship, and Ingrid is a writer who is afraid of death. The latter will have to face her fear when Martha tells her that she wants to agree to euthanasia in order to have a dignified death and asks her to accompany her in this difficult moment while she is in the next room.
Reseña - Review
Una película que suena bastante dura y pensé que iba a ser super triste, pero estuvo muy bien planteada y todo lo que iba ocurriendo hacía que no se sintiera de esta manera. Siempre dudo de ver películas que traten sobre esta enfermedad porque me pone sensible y estoy un poco cansada del tema. Pero decidí darle una oportunidad porque me llamaba la atención.
A movie that sounds pretty harsh and I thought it was going to be super sad, but it was very well paced and everything that was going on made it not feel that way. I'm always hesitant to watch movies that deal with this disease because it makes me sensitive and I'm a little tired of the subject. But I decided to give it a chance because it caught my attention.
Me gustó mucho la relación de amistad y el vínculo que hay entre estas dos personas. Aunque me sorprendió que pudieran recuperar esa complicidad luego de muchos años de no verse. También fue bastante irónico que al final la única que estuviera al lado de Martha en sus peores momentos haya sido Ingrid, alguien que escribe sobre la muerte y le tiene pánico. Ni que decir que en un momento hasta mecho con partes de misterio y policiales por todo el tema de que acceder a la eutanasia es ilegal, no ahondare en detalles sobre el tema pero soy partidaria de que cada uno debería poder tomar sus elecciones siempre, incluso al pie de la muerte.
I really liked the friendship and the bond between these two people. Although I was surprised that they were able to regain that complicity after many years of not seeing each other. It was also quite ironic that in the end the only one who was by Martha's side in her worst moments was Ingrid, someone who writes about death and is terrified of it. Needless to say that at one point I even lurk with parts of mystery and police for the whole issue of access to euthanasia is illegal, I will not delve into details on the subject but I am a supporter that everyone should always be able to make their choices, even at the foot of death.
No quiero dar muchos detalles porque deberían verla por ustedes mismos si así lo quisieran, pero me pareció que fue una poesía hecha película, los hechos narrados en presente y pasado, los diálogos, las películas y los libros mostrados, los planos y paisajes. Las actrices que estuvieron excelente en sus papeles, todo contribuyo a que me llevara una buena impresión.
I don't want to give too many details because you should see it for yourselves if you want to, but I thought it was a poetry made film, the facts narrated in present and past, the dialogues, the films and books shown, the shots and landscapes. The actresses were excellent in their roles, everything contributed to my good impression.
Me sorprendió muchísimo la escena final, ver cómo todo encajaba en sí sitio. Pero también me hizo reflexionar acerca de que a veces no podemos arreglar los vínculos con nuestros seres queridos en vida, estos se terminan arreglando en la muerte y eso es algo muy irónico pero sé por experiencia que puede suceder. En fin, es una película que les recomiendo ver si quieren una historia fresca y profunda que los haga reflexionar acerca de la vida y la muerte.
I was really surprised by the final scene, to see how everything fell into place. But it also made me reflect on the fact that sometimes we can't fix the ties with our loved ones in life, they end up being fixed in death and that is something very ironic but I know from experience that it can happen. Anyway, it is a movie that I recommend you to watch if you want a fresh and deep story that makes you think about life and death.
