CineTv Contest: The Umbrella Academy: A Time-Bending Masterpiece@fashtioluwa450d
Hello film lovers, it's another week for use to embark on a new journey with the CineTv community, and this week contest we are to talk about our favourite time film. When I read the post, I already had a movie in mind but @whatmidesays says I would need to pick another movie because she already wrote about it. You can read her entry here Every second count in time it was an amazing entry and since she already took the words out of my mouth, I would be writing about my second time movie but this one is a series and its not "The Flash."
This series talks about the danger of time traveling, family, super ability and many more. The title of this series is "The Unmbrella Academy" and trust me, you can't get enough of it.
The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, the series is currently an Netflix original series that delves into the complexities of time travel, family dynamics, and the consequences of playing with the fabric of time.
The Storyline
The series is an ongoing series with 3 season currently, the series follows the story of seven adopted siblings, each with unique superpowers, who were trained by their father, to become a team of superheroes known as The Umbrella Academy.
The siblings are meant to be the best of the best as he trained them, at a point one of the siblings discovered he has the power to time travel without the use of machine but his pure ability.
He traveled several years into the future and discovered that the world has been destroyed by an unknown course, he tried going back to the part to warn his siblings but his power stopped working and this made him stucked in the future.
He was recruited by a time traveling organisation to assasinate some unwanted variant in the time line but at a point, he used his power again and it worked which took him to the past but the past he went back to was a past were one of their siblings was dead, their father was dead and is other sibling were grown adult while he was still in his younger body but with the brain of an adult.
However, after a mysterious event, the siblings disband and go their separate ways. Years later, they reunite to solve the mystery surrounding their father's death and the impending apocalypse that destroyed the world.

What I Loved and what I Hated
I loved how the series seamlessly weaves together multiple timelines, exploring the consequences of time travel and the butterfly effect. I love the action scene and how the importance of family was shown. I also love that the characters has special ability which helped them battle the obstacle in front of them. I love how they show that the siblings are all humans even with their superpowers, they also have human weakness.
What I hate about the series is the was the time jumping. Sometimes, some obvious things that should be known will be totally ignored like they don't think but I guess it's all part to make the movie a good one.
The Influence it has on me
The Umbrella Academy has influenced me to think more critically about the consequences of my actions, particularly when it comes to meddling with time. I have come to understand that time waits for no man and how you use your time tells a lot about you. It is important to know that every action we talk at every seconds has an effect in our life or the life of the people surrounding us or even in our future.
Most Interesting Part
The most interesting aspect of the series for me was when they all discovered their youngest siblings or so also has special ability. The fact that their father was the only person that knew about her ability and one other sibling was crazy. Her ability was hidden from her siblings because she was the most powerful and unstable one among them. The discovery opened a new part in the movie and this brought in new scene and character development.
Memorable Scene
One scene that still pops into my mind is the dance sequence in the first episode, where the siblings reunite at their father's funeral. The scene is beautifully choreographed, showcasing the characters' unique personalities and powers.
Standout Performances
The standout performances came from the character named number 5. The sibling with the time traveling ability. He is a young boy but the fact that he has to act like a child with the brain of a 60+ year old man was outstanding. He was an amazing character and he was one of the most loved characted in the movie.
The Umbrella Academy is an interesting movie for all to see, if you know you want to be lost in time where love, action, comedy are all involved, then I present to you "The Umbrella Academy"
I will rate this movie an 8.5/10, trust me, you will love it. Thanks for reading, my name is Fashtioluwa.
After a season finale the truth is that I expected a lot from this series, the first season the truth is that I was fascinated with the result, to the point that I started reading the comics and I realized that there are many differences, but this second and third season manage to raise much more the level of the series even manage to deepen much more in the drama, the second season basically tells us a time travel story about the events of Dallas in 1963 which are very well executed and well carried out, and despite having a good dose of drama I have to say that the humor is still present.
But we already arrived to the third season comes something quite incredible another academy, which is like a kind of rival academy for them in which, the facts that changed in time in Dallas make these are affected in this new timeline, I do not want to wave much in the script to not spoil anything but I can tell you that these two seasons are incredible at the level of script, something I can complain about is that this new academy remains to be seen a little bit because honestly it disappears very quickly, although in the comics they are the biggest threat of this part of the story in the history of the series, in reality they only come being a thread for the protagonists to develop more of their own plots and in turn there is a kind of rivalry or interaction with new characters.
While it is true that the first season also had script holes this second and third also has them But it is still quite entertaining if you have the opportunity of the comics you will realize that they are much more fantasy and there is a high amount of villains and heroes within this same world, while the Netflix series as such seeks to be much more serious with a story taken in a very different or more realistic way, But this is not all bad because characters like Klaus which have a magnificent development in these two seasons the truth I must say that it is my favorite character as it was in the first season because it is the one that really feels with a weight of development as a character because, That yes the part you travel in time for many can be quite winding or difficult to understand because in these two seasons take it to the next level, but yes very apart from stranger things I have to say that this is one of the Netflix series that the truth I have enjoyed a lot, so well only remains to wait to see the fourth and final season and finally see what is the end of this series.
›The Umbrella Academy|| As Dysfunctional As It Gets.@wongi644d
For months on end, I listened to my friend talk so much about this Tv series. The rambling got worse when the final season of the Tv series came out in August this year. “Wongi, you should really watch this series “ was the only sentence this friend was consistent with. After all said and done, I decided to give the series a chance and if I'm being honest, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows from the start.
The first episode of the first season felt like a lullaby on a calm and cold night as it constantly sent me to sleep each time I tried watching it. Initially, I thought I was just too tired on the first day and so I tried seeing it some other time when I was more alert and again, I slept. Along the line, I resorted to seeing the movie whenever I felt like taking a nap and it always worked until it did not anymore.
About The Movie
One day in 1989, women around the world who were not pregnant at the start of the day gave birth to children. This strange phenomenon piqued the interest of a billionaire industrialist, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who went ahead to adopt seven of them. He creates the umbrella academy where he trains “his children” to better harness their powers in order to serve and save the world.
Along the line, Sir Reginald Hargreeves dies, leading to the reunionof his children who had gone their separate ways. In a bid to solve the mystery surrounding the death of their father, they find out that the imminent end of the world is fast approaching and they have to work together to save the world. This is not an easy task as they are a dysfunctional family of superheroes who barely get along with each other. Nonetheless, they try their best to put aside their differences in order to save the world. The question however is, do they?
The Umbrella Academy is a four season series with ten episodes each in the first three seasons and six episodes in the last season. The first season of this series was released on the 15th of February, 2019 and the last season on the 8th of August, 2024. The main genre of the series would be action but sub genres include science fantasy, comedy drama and superheroes.
Season One.
In season one, we were introduced to all the characters and their superpowers during their reunion after their father’s death at the umbrella academy. Here, the siblings try to solve the mystery behind their father’s strange death while still trying to counter the effect of a looming apocalypse.
Season Two
After managing to escape the first apocalypse, the siblings are scattered around different years in the same timeline where they all attempt to create different lives for themselves. Little do they know that yet another apocalypse is looming and as usual, they have to fight against it in order to save the world. They search for Sir Reginald to guide them on how to stop the second apocalypse but he rebukes them and denies ever adopting such “Incompetent” superheroes. Once again, the siblings are faced with the challenge of saving the world on their own while still attempting to return to their original timeline.
At this point, the siblings are tired of apocalypses and of saving the world, but this doesn't mean that there isn't yet another apocalypse sitting pretty and waiting for them. In this new timeline, Sir Hargreeves adopts another set of superheroes and names his academy ‘The Sparrow Academy”. The sparrows seem to be better trained and tougher than the Umbrellas. This naturally causes hatred between the two parties but eventually, the two academies come together in a bid to stop the very vicious apocalypse.
Season Four
The person that discovered the atoms that give powers is revealed in the final season. On the flip side, a group of people have come together in order to eradicate the umbrella academy, in a bid to return to their original timelines. They named the process of eradicating the umbrella academy ‘ the cleanse’ .There is a whole back and forth as the Umbrellas fight to save the world or at least their lives.
Characters.
Colm Feore as Sir Reginald Hargreeves:
He is the industrialist billionaire who adopts the kids with superpowers and attempts to teach them how to reach their full potential.
Tom Hooper:
He goes by the name Luther and the number “One”. Luther was the first of the adopted children and his super power is super strength.
David Castaneda:
He goes by the name Diego and the number two. His special ability is throwing knives. Whenever Diego throws a knife he never misses, irrespective of the distance.
Emmy Raver-Lampma:
She goes by the name Allison and the number three. Her special ability is making people do whatever she wants them to do. However, she has to start the sentence with “I heard a rumour…”
Robert Sheeman:
He goes by the name Klaus and the number four. Klaus was one of my favourite characters because of how free and nonchalant he was. His special ability is dealing with ghosts.
Aiden Gallagher:
He was addressed as number Five all through the movies. Number Five's special ability is time travelling.
Justin H. Min:
He goes by the name Ben and the number Six. Unfortunately, Ben dies as a kid but his special ability was controlling his inner tentacles.
Elliot Page:
Vanga turn Viktor goes by the number Seven. She happened to be the most powerful of the Umbrellas as she could turn her emotions into energy and could wipe out an entire fleet of people with just her thoughts.
My Opinion.
I think the first two to three episodes of this series felt dull for me because of the lack of adequate action. Along the line, all I wanted to do was just watch the series because of how entertaining and engaging it got.
Irrespective of their differences or how many times the Umbrellas called themselves ‘dysfunctional’, I like how they still always came together to try and save the world as a family.
All of the characters were striking in their own way as they all fit into their roles as a glove would into a hand. However, one character that particularly awed me was number five. He is the sibling who could time travel and during one of his time travel sojourns, he was stuck in time for forty-fives years. He eventually returned to his original timeline but he was stuck in the body of his younger self.
Technically, he became the oldest and wisest of the siblings because of this incident. However, it always got so interesting whenever he was dishing out instructions, advice and threats to people who were older looking than he was. For a teeneger at the time of the movie production, I would say he killed his role.
Recommendation
The umbrella academy was a really interesting watch even though it took some time for me to get used to it. Do I regret watching the series? Definitely not. Do I recommend it? Absolutely. I am certain that anyone who watches this series would find something intriguing about it because it was a fine mixture of different genres.
›A Worthy End to a Wild Ride | The Umbrella Academy Film Review@olujay686d
After two years, the final and fourth seasons are now here. Although I had forgotten some things about the previous ones, watching them again reminded me of so much that I loved and missed about the series. And the ending is what I like most about the finale. I couldn't have asked for better closure.
I initially couldn't connect to the series much when I first found it. It had a quirky beginning that didn't pique my interest. It was when I discovered that it was also about time travel and superpowers that it got my attention. And I have followed through till the end ever since.
Now, although the film was about a family of people with powers, it wasn't centred on that. The plot is much deeper, and it also shows good craftmanship in its storytelling character development.
On one day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates the Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world. In their teenage years, though, the family fractures and the team disbands.
Fast forward to the present time, when the six surviving members of the clan reunite upon the news of Hargreeves' passing. They work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father's death, but divergent personalities and abilities again pull the estranged family apart, and a global apocalypse is another imminent threat. The series is based on a collection of comics and graphic novels created and written by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.Source
In the first three seasons, the Hargreeves family members repeatedly destroyed the world, but each time they managed to save it. One last time, they gather together to save it once and for all, but at a cost they never considered.
What I generally like about the fourth season is that it manages to bring back many things from the previous seasons without causing chaos or trying to give a good ending to the film. Unlike the previous seasons, however, there are fewer episodes, and it felt a bit rushed and with fewer intricacies. I enjoyed it very much regardless, especially for the characters.
If anything had been changed about the characters in this finale, it may have greatly affected the film for me. They all just worked well together. And as usual, their actors gave their all to portray each of them excellently.
My favourite remains Aidan Gallagher, who played Five. Many times, I forgot that he really isn't a 56-year-old man in a teenager's body for how well he played his parts. He, just like the other main actors, was perfect for his role.
I laughed very hard many times this season. I don't remember much about my reactions in the previous seasons, but I love how there were so many comical elements in the film. Many hilarious moments from quirkyness, sarcasm, and many more.
The series subtly touches on many aspects of the reality of life and presents them in intriguing and entertaining ways.
Cinematography is a strong suit in season four. The visual storytelling with the angles couldn't go unnoticed. There were depths to certain scenes just by the camera angle, lighting, and transitions. I applaud the filmmakers for putting in great effort.
All through the film, I was eager to see just how it would all end. Surely, being the finale, they couldn't end the series like they did in the previous seasons with a cliffhanger. Yet there had to be something fitting for closure. What it turned out to be allowed me to give a sigh of relief, satisfaction, and contentment.
Two years was sure a long time to get this finale, but I am glad that it was totally worth the wait. In these times when superhero films aren't receiving that much love for "running out of content," it's always nice to see creative and worth-while films like this save the day. The superheroes are, however, not your regular kind.
Now I remember when this show was all the rage back last year and I made a promise to myself to someday check it out, well I finally fulfilled that promise this last week 😃.
The Umbrella Academy
### Plot
> The Umbrella Academy is a family of adopted Superhumans who grew up in a toxic home.
When Number 5, who had gone missing for 17 years comes back in time with the news of an impending apocalypse, the siblings must put away their rivalries, brush of their differences and fight right past their limits to save the world.
***
Now this show is a real gem. A real prodigy of the famous, and heavily used time travel trope.
The amount of skill and uniqueness of the plot and story made the series incredibly enjoyable for one who may have started it with a critics mind, then for me who had an open mind, well it was just marvelous ✨

What I Liked
***
##### - The Characters 👫
> ***"The characters are the backbones of every show."***
This is something that I always say, this meaning that a boring story/show would have boring characters.
When the characters are robotic or aren't built up well, the emotions that they're meant to emit won't be portrayed clearly, no matter how good the actor who's playing that character is.
Regardless, the characters in this show were simply marvelous despite how plentiful they were.
A show that talks about space and time would clearly have a wide variety of characters and be able to input them in the correct point, this is a rather difficult task but The Umbrella Academy carried out this task wonderfully🔥
- The Cast 🎭
The Cast was marvelous, simply marvelous!
The characters potential were brought out by the great acting.
One in particular which I'm sure everyone who had watch the movie would agree on is the great number 5.
Aidan Gallagher had always been a good actor from his first major series in Nickelodeon's Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn and now he's really showing that skill in this lovely show.
Having the finesse to portray a cranky 50 something year old time Traveller in the body of a 15 year old boy in shorts and socks isn't something anybody can do😂.
- The Straightforwardness with the Time Trope
Now time trope as always is something that has been overused. Through trial and error, different shows have experimented on which part of this trope was well received by audiences, and which parts fell flat.
The umbrella academy could be said to be the culmination of all the well receivers, as they seem to only bring everything that makes sense on here.
From the Butterfly Effect to the Grandfather Paradox, all time mysteries and ideologies are brought on as either help or barriers for our superhero team to tackle and overcome.
- Realistic Fights
Now this show albeit it being a superhero show isn't one that's based on plot armor such that the heroes must always win.
It's more of a logical story in which the one that's most informed and most suited to the altercation or fight would come out on top.
Thus, the villians had great chances to win and probably would have, if not for slim instances of luck (which always happens in a fight btw😂). Despite that, it's refreshing to see a superheroes movie where the odds for either side winning aren't miles apart then get closed insurmountably with no valid or understandable reason..
Overall Review
***
This was a true delight to watch for me. An action series that'll keep you at the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and how they'll react.
I totally loved it, and recommend it to those who are into superheroes and family movies.
Although it's a bit dicy in terms of violence and suggestive sexual contents, hence it's PG 16.
A true 9/10 stars show✨

My curiosity in the series The Umbrella Academy was motivated to the characteristic of fiction and action of the previous series I had been watching on Netflix, so even with a slightly dubious introduction of the events I set out to watch the first season.
A bit of a curious beginning by pointing out a series of simultaneous births and in conditions different from reality, the kids are taken by a guardian "the father" who adopts them to be part of the Umbrella academy, that's the beginning of a tunnel of eventualities that come and go in a confusing way for the viewer.
The main protagonist is played by the young Aidan Gallagher, undoubtedly a quite talented guy, there is no denying that in gives personality to this protagonist with powers with which he can jump through space and time altogether.
This series is an adaptation of the original comic "The Umbrella Academy", which is carried on this occasion with a rating for over 16 years as some scenes are violent, freedom of sexual rights and there is even a kind of sarcastic humor, in fact "Five" is almost the king of sarcasm in their responses...
However my opinion about the series is not positive, after watching in the first season I can say what the impression is confusing, the plot of this series is totally ridiculous, maybe in the air or without foundation, I do not know if the realities are unveiled with the following seasons, but it is difficult to catch the viewers with the little they leave in these chapters.
¿Qué no me gustó?
What didn't I like?
A group of kids with powers that are led on the wrong path of violent deaths, bad examples between siblings, and that in the end boils down to dysfunctional adults, who to complete the theme don't even have a clear concept of what "family" means; therefore little I can rescue from the events where they try to fight together.
Also, there are so many loose threads in the plot that it is quite likely that more craziness will be added in the following seasons. Without wanting to make any spoilers, just in case someone wants to watch this series, I think there is a problem with the way the events are presented, for example, season one ends with a situation that does not leave any kind of expectation, it is like a cycle, and in my opinion it does not have a good plot, there is not even a support for the theories about the powers of the characters.
The content is rather bizarre to me, there in the middle of the characters there is everything, arranged in a crazy way between apes, robots and travel between different dimensions, something that was certainly better achieved in the "Loki" series. I think anything was good to half make sense of the lost context, which sometimes becomes slow and with gloomy music, plus some scenes are quite dark.
Bottom line:
I can't recommend "The Umbrella Academy" as a good series, maybe overtime, and if it's to my personal liking to watch something a little wonky I might share this taste. I'm not sure I'll watch the following seasons, unless I simply want to supplement this opinion which I close today as a total "disaster".

Hello to all movie lovers, welcome once again to my blog! The series that I will share next, I consider it one of my favorites, the same consists of three seasons completely addictive. At the time I wanted to watch a series, since, I had finished watching Naruto Shipudden, and I wanted to see something new, so, I said to myself why not start a series on Netflix, so, I stumbled upon The Umbrella Academy, I saw the trailer and it caught my attention a lot, I didn't think twice and started watching it. And yes, I was too hooked with it, I became obsessed with both the plot in general and the characters, especially one that I will highlight later. Without further ado, I invite you to enjoy the review.
The Umbrella Academy consists of three seasons each made up of ten episodes, it is a superhero series loaded with lots of action and adventure. Now, the first season was released in 2019, in the first episodes we meet the main characters (7 in total), who are super powerful children whose goal is to keep the world safe. After a while, each one takes their own course and carry out their lives. However, the death of their adoptive father brings them back together. I should point out that at the beginning there are only five of the seven siblings when the reunion takes place, which I wanted to continue watching to find out what happened to the other two. Very important: The names of the boys are number 1 or Luther, number 2 or Diego, number 3 or Allison, number 4 or Klaus, number 5 or Cinco (he did not receive a name), number 6 or Ben and number 7 or Vanya, each one with a respective power and ability.
As we move forward, we see how five appears in one of the scenes, but six does not. That said, it should be noted that five has the power to teleport and travel through time, so the arrival of this new character causes major alterations, where he must save the world from an apocalypse. All along the way you will enjoy how the chapters end in intrigue, so you just want to keep watching until the end.
Regarding the development of the characters of this first season, I highlight Cinco, I was totally in love, he is very intelligent, his sarcastic humor makes him look handsome and very attractive throughout the plot, besides I loved his acting. The others also had an amazing development, but he is my favorite. The setting in general, was in keeping with the whole moment. The costumes, on the other hand, were super cool, the musical was also something I enjoyed a lot. If you want to watch it I know you will love this first season.
The next season was released in 2020, I should mention that at the end of season one, all the brothers had traveled through time thanks five. Therefore, in the following episodes of this part we see that they are transported to the time of the sixties, thus trying to start a new life, each one on their own. In this way, the character I liked the most was four also known as Klaus, that man really made me laugh, he has that touch of fun that made me love him, he is too witty, relaxed and super helpful.
Added to that, the special effects, and the story developed during this part of the season was very interesting. Besides, at the end of it all, you will see the great attachment that the characters had with their new families, which I think was one of the most painful parts. Although, it was clearly known that they had to get out of there since they don't belong to that timeline.
In the last season (2022) five manages to get out of that timeline with his brothers, however, when they arrive at the academy they realize that there is another group of brothers called Hargreeves, so they do not understand what is happening, they just hope that nothing bad happens and that they have managed to escape the apocalypse. But the worst is coming, a strange force begins to wreak havoc in the city, where people, animals and things begin to disappear.
Undoubtedly, here comes the good part, all the characters stand out to the fullest, especially Lila Pitts that you will meet in the second season of the series. There is nothing negative I can say about this season, the experience was unique, the way everything ended, was in short, too spectacular, a well done production, with great characters that developed in an incredible way. You can't miss it.
No puedes perdértela.
To conclude, it is one of the best science fiction series I've seen on Netflix, I recommend it 100%, as soon as you start watching it you will not be able to take off from the TV, I hope you can take a look and get carried away by the action and adventure it presents. Finally, based on my experience I give it a score of 5/5 Thanks for making it this far movie buff! Blessings.
Bendiciones.
The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero TV series based on the same comic book series of the same name. Its third season has just been released last week, on June 22nd, 2022. Each season has 10 episodes with run time of about 50 mins. And it is exclusive to the streaming service Netflix*.
I know, I know. You have probably wondered, "What in the world is The Umbrella Academy?" if you have not seen it already. And if you have seen it, you may have also thought so before starting it.
Well, that's exactly what I thought when I first heard about it. And, to be honest, it was not something that seemed worth getting excited about. My opinion of it at first was even worse after seeing the first few minutes of the pilot episode.
Yes, I know, I judged too quickly. But what was I supposed to think when the first thing I saw was a lady giving birth to a baby right after getting out of the pool, without having been pregnant earlier that day? Quite an absurd movie plot, if you had asked me then.
I have given a little spoiler about the intro, but I promise it is only a tiny bit of a small portion of the iceberg (you get it?). Because the whole series is actually about much more than that.
But with all that said, it still isn't enough to judge the series and conclude on seeing it or not. So, without further ado, journey with me as we walk through this review together.
𝔸𝔹𝕆𝕌𝕋 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝕊𝔼ℝ𝕀𝔼𝕊
On October 1, 1989, 43 random women all around the world gave birth at the exact same time, and none of them had been pregnant earlier that day. A billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, travels around to gather some of them for adoption; he only got seven of them. He turned them into a team of super heroes and called them "The Umbrella Academy."
As individuals of the Hargreeves family, they were each imperfect, contrary to their (adoptive) father's ambition for them. And all together, they form a dysfunctional family headed by a cold-hearted father.
It then happens that one of the children travels into the distant future and is presumed dead for years. Upon his return, he had already spent decades, and now claims an apocalypse that will cause a global catastrophic disaster is impending. Also, their father, Sir Reginald, is mysteriously killed.
The estranged family must now come together to solve the mystery surrounding their father's death, and more importantly, figure out how to avert the imminent apocalypse to save the world from total annhilation. But they are faced with opposition from a council of time governors with orders to eliminate them.
They fall apart every time due to their divergent personalities and abilities, but somehow work together and try to save the world in a manner far from impeccable.
As they continue to find ways to save the future of humanity, deep secrets about each of them, including their late father and his mysterious death, are unraveled. New discoveries are made about their abilities, and time travel is used on a regular basis. But they had no idea that saving the world would result in its destruction and that they would have to save it again and again.
Initially, it took a while to begin to wrap my head around the series. This is not to say that it has a somewhat complex storyline that takes time to understand, but that it really was not how I could have anticipated it.
Seeing that it was about super powers and concepts of that nature, I immediately assumed it would be like Marvel's kinds of movies. But it really isn't like that. In fact, it is based on the true story of a dysfunctional family that manages to function as a unit and do the most important thing: save the world! And all that super hero stuff is more like the colours on a picture,
The series portrays a story that centers upon the concept of "cause and effect." This is an example of how each of our individual actions, no matter how small they may be, can have a great impact on the outcome of things to come. It does this by using the concept of time-travel to show the relationship between actions and their results.
It also shows how important "letting things go" is, in the sense that wishing to go back in time to fix one's past mistakes may not even be the best method to consider in setting things straight. Letting things go and accepting things may just do the trick, as it is popularly understood, "time will heal".
The Umbrella Academy employs a time-traveling adventure in the 1980s and 2000s. does well to represent both times adequately. And, somehow, it manages to balance comedy with action; brilliantly, if you ask me.
I am a very big fan of time-related concepts. So to see theories and paradoxes well depicted with detail is something I very much appreciate (I'm a fanatic in fact).
My favourite paradox is the "Grandfather Paradox". And the third season was built mostly on it. Say, you go back in time to murder your grandfather before your father (your grandfather's son) was to be born. You would in fact cease to exist. But if you never existed, you could not have gone back in time to murder him in the first place. So, you see, we would have a problem.
Pardon my nerdiness, dear reader, if you will. Now, let's go a bit deeper into serving justice to this review:
sᴛᴏʀʏʟɪɴᴇ
The whole story may sound simple, but it isn't quite that. There are quite a number of diverse little stories that make up the main story. So, if one does not pay attention to the subtle details one may find as the series goes, you may begin to question a lot of things as they unravel. But I assure you, it's nothing complex, but rather quite exciting and thrilling.
And with all this being said, it is natural to say that the story is not quite easy to predict. There's no telling how exactly the end would proceed, and this happened for all three seasons.
Yet, in all the mix, consistency was not left out. Accolades to the directors and producers for their brilliance.
ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ
One very overlooked but super important aspect of filmmaking is how the story is presented to the eyes of the audience.
To deliver excellent visuals in all episodes throughout three seasons is something to be appreciated. And I hand it to them for a job well done.
There were many gory scenes throughout the whole series, but they were not overly done. I would say that they were just necessary, so prepare for them if you're going to see the series.
ᴀᴄᴛɪɴɢ
Dear reader, you will agree with me that the performances of the actors and actresses are the biggest contributors to selling the story of any film to its audience.
Every actor in this film must have been scrutinized before being chosen. And I'd like to first commend Aidan Gallagher.
Aidan is quite a young fellow. Yet, he handles the role of a 58-year-old man in a 13-year old body. This is not the first time that I have seen him perform with impeccable style, and I know that this will not be the last of it.
Another that I would like to add is Elliot Page. He (formerly Ellen Page) is an incredible actor who, even while transgender, handled the female character well.
And the producers were able to make her character also reflect this transgender phase; it was seamless.
𝕄𝕐 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...
The Umbrella Academy is the kind of series that requires some patience at the beginning to truly follow along and enjoy the brilliance in it.
From the closure that we got from the third season, and considering how well it has been doing over the years, it does seem like we could be in for one more treat in a fourth season. Although the third season took two whole years to be released, we are likely to get the fourth season sooner this time.
It definitely would receive many different perspectives, but I believe the resultant of them all would be "worth the time". Yet again, there is the whole floor for you to decide for yourself with all that is said here if you would give it a try.
I would give the series a 𝟡/𝟙𝟘.
SPANISH
Y me gustaría elogiar primero a Aidan Gallagher.

›The Umbrella Academy | A never ending end of the world@jauregui981461d
I'm writing this while listening to the soundtrack of The House, so I don't know what will come out of here, From the beginning, I was attracted to the series, but I didn't dare to watch it so I wouldn't be disappointed, then I watched it and loved it, I waited 1 year and loved the second season, and now I'm completely loving the third season, so much so that it provoked me to do this review, because for me this is the best season of all, and I'm still in shock because the series has a score of 8. 0 on IMDB, and I don't know why, but I was expecting much less, at most a 7, but well, apparently things are not like that.
If you don't know, The Umbrella Academy is about 7 brothers with superpowers that live in the Umbrella Academy, and since season 1, as in season 2, and the third, they must always try to avoid the end of the world, end of the world that always causes one of its members, and they don't know it, only that they discover it little by little, and it is always the same, which makes you laugh, but at the same time is strange, but it is not to be missed, because it is one of the most powerful members, if not the most powerful of all. The same thing happens in this third season, they have to prevent the end of the world, only this time they are facing the Sparrow Academy, a new version of the Umbrella Academy, only with different powers, and again they have to try to stop the end of the world, but this time it will be more complicated than usual.
This season has been the best for me so far and is that they show more and more characters in different situations that although they can become vulnerable, they show them more real, having different reactions, and different developments to those who have had in previous seasons, and while such developments of characters can become bad, they understand why they act so, although they are not justifiable actions, it is in this moral duality that lies the appeal that can get to have, if not, the potential of the characters would be completely wasted.
Allison will be a completely different person in this season, I couldn't stand her most of the time, and it's that she played the martyr too fast for us to even empathize with her, yes the consequences in this season are very strong for her, but the way she changed was very drastic, she became an impulsive person, who doesn't measure her actions, she just wants revenge no matter who she has to hurt, and I hated her in a very specific scene when she says something she never and never should have said, I mean, I loved her getting her pussy handed to her after that, but she never had to have said it, and it was horrible, horrible, it almost made me cry, she has no forgiveness, and that's why I dislike her now.
One of my favorite things was Viktor's transition, of course, that was one of the main reasons I was looking forward to season 3, and that transition was wonderful, the reaction of all the brothers, I loved it, Luther is a beautiful and precious little thing, I will just tell you that he cared too much about how Viktor felt and wanted to do everything he could to make him feel wanted and loved, that scene gave me too much laughter and too much tenderness, I loved it, Netflix did their job very well in this aspect, plus a lot of people thought it would ruin the character or that it was going to be too much drama that would take attention away from the main plot, and it wasn't like that at all, it was a minimal thing compared to everything they had to deal with, it was a quiet thing, that's why it got my undying love. Loviu, Viktor.
The plot, in general, this third season is amazing, at least different, we won't see an ordinary end of the world like the previous ones, no, but this time there are more things at stake and they must find a way to avoid it, there are amazing new characters, one in specific from last season that I was surprised to see and loved, and this is another reason why I hate Allison, I hate her too much, nothing gave her the right to have done everything she did, and no, things were not supposed to be like that, but everything had changed and could be explained to her, but no, she became a completely obtuse person, without reasoning, she did whatever she wanted, and that's it, fuck, I hate her.
This third season is one of the funniest, that's why I didn't leave you a trailer, but the scene where they dance Footloose, I mean, that scene is something completely unexpected, it gives too much laughter, and it's impossible not to want to join that dance, I loved that scene, it comes out in the first episode, and it's one of the first things we are going to see, so don't worry, if that's the first scene full of comedy, you can't imagine all the ones that are during the whole season.
I have a problem with this series and it's the endings, I mean, why the fuck do they leave the ending of the series open if they haven't confirmed the next season? Unless season 4 is already confirmed and I don't know about it, but this is a complaint, so that doesn't matter. Not only is the season finale open-ended, but they put in a post-credits scene and don't give explanations, they only give rise to more nonsense conspiracy theories, and the worst thing is that I do believe those theories, I even think that's who they want to believe it is. Bye, the light has just gone out, the good thing is that I'm done.
›The Umbrella Academy: intrattenimento e musica e non troppa sostanza@serialfiller1870d

TV's most dysfunctional superhero brothers are always enjoyable and cocky. The second season lacked the courage but it was still a pleasure to find Number 5 and the others wandering around the space-time.

›The Umbrella Academy Season 2 ― “Who’s Diego?” ― “Imagine Batman then aim lower.”@dedicatedguy2097d
Last night I finished watching The Umbrella Academy season 2 and it was all right. After watching the first one I concluded this show competed against Doom Patrol and that in my opinion was a little bit better. I still think the same after watching season 2.
This time, the story was about preventing the horrible events that "5" has been warning since he appeared in season 1. This event appears to be impossible to prevent no matter what the siblings do, it is like they had a black cloud hanging over their heads everywhere they go and the event itself can manifest itself in several ways and in various years.
We will also see some of the siblings much more in control of their powers, especially Vanya but Diego will also prove he is more capable than what the viewer thought at the beginning of the season.
Luther, on the other hand, had a subtle transition and he was portrayed several times as a dumb character. Similar to Joey's evolution in the Friends series, he wasn't dumb at the beginning but progressively he was portrayed dumber and dumber as the series advanced. Now, I don't think Luther will become a dumb character but this was a new facet that was used to make some situations funnier.
I won't say spoilers, only that at the beginning of the season we will see how these siblings try to survive on their own for an extensive period of time, and what some of them, such as Klaus, accomplished is actually very funny. I have to say this Klaus character didn't convince me at the beginning of the show, he is always present in the scenes I dislike the most. However, after season 2 I think I am tolerating this character much better and even enjoying some of his occurrences.
There are major surprises in this season regarding their adoptive father and honestly, the ending left me even more interested in a potential season 3. After 2 seasons the show still feels fresh and dynamic enough to have sufficient creative fuel to produce a new entertaining season.
If you are looking for a coolish series that require little concentration and doesn't take itself too serious then this might be a good choice. I don't tend to watch this type of series though, so the only similar I know of is Doom Patrol and The Umbrella Academy is a bit better and less tiresome.
The best
Entertaining series although sometimes it can be annoying.
The worst
I have the feeling this series is going to be milked a lot.
›Umbrella Academy season 1 - "We didn’t choose this life, we’re just living in it"@dedicatedguy2103d
I wasn't planning to watch this series because it didn't seem like a high-quality show for me, and it reminded me of Doom Patrol, which is a show I watched a few months ago but since it wasn't very entertaining for me I decided to drop it after finishing season 1.
The decision to start watching Umbrella Academy was because a family member was interested in the show, and since there aren't many new movies coming out then I figured I could just give this series a try. Last night I finished season 1 and it was ok, it is just a little bit better than Doom Patrol, which I feel is like its main competitor. The Boys, on the other hand, is a completely different show so there is no comparison between the 2.
In Umbrella Academy, we have a bunch of young adults with different powers. When they were children, they were adopted by a strange man that raised them and trained them to harness their power. This old man was very strict and authoritarian so the adopted children have some resentment towards him. The reason why they decided to get together again as adults is similar to what happens in Doom Patrol, the old man is gone, apparently for good. Another similarity with Doom Patrol is that these siblings are misfits as well.
The powers I saw in season 1 were super strength, super aim when throwing knives, the ability to teleport not only in space but also in time, convincing people of a particular by whispering it to them, manifesting the dead ones, and another character has awesome powers but this would be a major spoiler so I won't mention it.
The series has a lot of extremely silly moments, in the first episode for example, ended with all the characters doing a super stupid dance. In another episode, a brother and a sister begin dancing as if they were a couple, one of the characters is extremely stupid and almost sissy-like. What I enjoyed the most was actually the final episodes because there were major events and a huge revelation that would change the dynamic between the siblings forever.
The main plot in the show is to stop the apocalypse itself, the reasons behind this end of the world scenario are unknown in the beginning, but the ultimate goal for these misfit siblings is to find a solution. There is also a group of people that are almost a mirror image of the Eternals from The End of Eternity fiction book from Asimov, I suspect the writers of this story had some inspiration from Asimov because the similarities cannot be a coincidence.
The ending was good enough so I think I will begin watching season 2 soon enough. If you are looking for a superhero show that is somehow original and slightly better than Doom Patrol then this one could be a good choice.
›The second season of Umbrella Academy is an example of great entertainment@serialfiller2148d
Last year Netflix gave to comics fans the transposition of the homonymous "comics" written by Gerard Way (singer of "My Chemical Romance") and enriched by Gabriel Bà's drawings:
The Umbrella Academy.
The TV series was immediately a big success and was called to collect the legacy of the 4 products (+1) by Marvel/Netflix, which had recently "lowered the shutter" in view of the landing of Disney+.
With them, The Umbrella Academy, shared only the background genre, the only common thread that brought together the various Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist with the 6 boys (+1) of the academy.
Then, a few weeks later, Amazon Prime Video arrived to tarnish the good things Netflix did, thanks to the debut of another product related to comics: The Boys.
Compared to the Marvel/Netflix titles mentioned above, The Boys proved to have more than a link with The Umbrella Academy, projecting us, in fact, towards a new phase in the relationship between television and comics.
Abandoned the comfortable and conciliatory faces of tormented but fundamentally good men/superheroes, this new phase has presented us with characters rich in power and responsibility, but fragile, often selfish, very imperfect or even self-destructive.
If The Boys pushed this concept to the limit, with heroes in the pay of multinationals and increasingly violent, The Umbrella Academy seemed to be more conciliatory towards that slice of the audience less inclined to gloomy and leaden atmospheres and still in need of heroes, that although vulnerable and weird, were 100% of the good heroes, or at least willing to be.
The first season of the series, written and directed by Jeremy Slater, had introduced us to the Hargreeves family. 7 brothers, all born on the same day, October 1, 1989 and endowed with extraordinary powers.
Their father, Reginald, is also their "kidnapper". A rich tycoon, obsessed with the history of the birth of his adopted children, who educated them to be extraordinary people, in anticipation of unspecified decisive moments in the history of mankind.
The first cycle of episodes had introduced us to the 6 tormented boys and their late brother Ben.
In the first episodes we had learned to appreciate the dysfunctionality of each of them.
From the fragile and emotional Klaus, able to get in touch and "dominate" the world of the dead;
From the strong but conflicted Allison, endowed with a power that allows her to whisper to others things they will be forced to do;
From the big man Luther, a kind of incredible Hulk constantly searching for a father figure;
From the skillful but fucked-up Diego, a kind of Ninja unbeatable in hand-to-hand combat;
From number 5, a true event engine thanks to his ability to travel through time;
And finally from Vanya, the most silent and shy but also the one destined to hatch within herself the most enormous power.
At the end of the first season, we had the feeling to know better the 7 brothers, to be linked to them, and to be anxious to discover the results of their unfortunate adventures but also, and above all, the results of their stories.
Would Klaus have ever calmed down, perhaps in the arms of his beloved? Would Allison and Luther finally drop the veil and stop chasing each other? Would Number 5 ever take a break from space-time travel? Would Diego ever find a way to quell his fury? Would Vanya ever be able to accept herself and open up to the world?
The planetary success of The Umbrella Academy was due, in short, to its ability to entertain, amuse and engage in dialogue with its protagonists.
A mix, all in all, simple, almost banal, but that Jeremy Slater's TV series had wrapped up very well.
The cliffhanger with which the first cycle of episodes was closed had added that touch of mystery and that abundant hype typical of TV series that let themselves be appreciated by their audience, which saw us all very eager to look forward to the second season.
At the end of season 2, released a few days ago by Netflix, the balance can only be positive.
The Umbrella Academy 2 consolidates its strengths, adding some more interesting pieces to the lives of the 7 brothers and some elements to the general plot.
Exemplary, for example, the work that has been done on the action component and on the many scenes where our darlings have been able to fully unleash their powers. It seemed, on many occasions, to be sitting in the hall of an IMAX cinema enjoying Marvel's latest film.
Equally unequivocal was the judgement on the soundtrack, a real feather in this season's cap,
From Frank Sinatra's "My Way" to "Golden Brown" by "The Stranglers", to masterpieces such as "I was Made for lovin you" by Kiss and "Twisting The Night Away" by Sam Cooke.
Traveling in the 60s, when the entire second season is set, made even more vivid by a collection of sounds and music that made history in those years.
To approach, from this specific point of view, The Umbrella Academy to the James Gunn saga about the Guardians of the Galaxy, would be anything but daring.
A lot of work has been done on the characters as well. Without any particular flashes, there was the feeling of witnessing a greater introspection of each of them, bringing out even more, and better their distinctive features.
Judging from what has emerged so far, the second season of The Umbrella Academy would seem a clear triumph.
It is not, unfortunately.
Despite the parade tones of July 4th that emerge on the net, The Umbrella Academy would seem to have confirmed itself as an excellent TV series, but only if relegated to a very specific slice of the market.
Are you looking for a sliding, entertaining TV series with good characters, action, and an easy to follow storyline?
The Umbrella Academy should be at the top of your list. It's the perfect series to watch while you're shaking instagram sitting on the couch, while you're emptying the dishwasher, or when, at the end of the day, you feel like lying in your armchair and unplugging for an hour or so.
So if that's what you're looking for, The Umbrella Academy could give you exactly what you need.
But if we want to make a comparison with the entire serial panorama and look at the window of "quality", the one that the "critics" always try to research, define and analyze in an artistic product, then the discourse changes.
The second season, as already mentioned, reinforces what was good in the first.
This is a strong point, but it is also the demonstration that we did not have the courage, or the ability, to go further.
In a time not too far away, TV series were built exactly this way. I write a good pilot, keep up the pace for a season, keep the audience loyal and it's done. I play exactly the same thing for an unspecified number of seasons, changing a few things here and there, and I can make a living.
The feeling is that this season of The Umbrella Academy, has lived on the shoulders of the first.
There's nothing wrong with that, but it's fair to say that when you have the ambition to make personal but objective judgments about a serial product.
The risk is to fall into the "Paper House" syndrome and burn one's potential in the name of a schematization of the story, always the same as oneself.
Another big facet that it would be good to highlight is that between the debut of The Umbrella Academy and the airing of its second season, the serial world (and not only the serial one) has totally changed.
Without bothering the covid emergency and the protests of the Black Lives Matter movement (here awkwardly recalled with the protests at the diner in 1963), it would be enough to invoke Watchmen and The Boys to make the Netflix TV series pale.
We've already talked about the latter at the beginning, and about the former, in addition to the 26 nominations for the next Emmy 2020, there's so much to say. It's a product, that of Damon Lindelof, that has changed the history of TV forever and has totally unhinged the vault of the superhero genre.
The Umbrella Academy seems not to have picked up the echo of the Lindelof sirens, continuing along a path that winks more at a young audience, from a serial point of view, than at a mature one. The result is an almost "pre-packaged" product, a victim of himself and at the same time capable of exalting himself, although in the small enclosure in which he has decided to run around freely.
Ultimately, then, The Umbrella Academy is confirmed as a very solid product, which guarantees a light and pleasant entertainment, seasoned with various comic moments and a good construction, although quite stereotyped, of its characters, rejecting the possibility of being something more, far from the quality and historical introspection of products recently landed in Italy as The Plot Against America. The Netflix TV series is a great title to add to your catalog for a satisfying summer binge watching but unsuitable for an audience that would like to watch a TV series able to break the mold and project it towards new shores.
›The Umbrella Academy 2: la mia review@serialfiller2152d
Lo scorso anno Netflix ha regalato agli appassionati di fumetti la trasposizione dell'omonimo "comics" scritto da Gerard Way (cantante dei "My Chemical Romance") e arricchito dai disegni di Gabriel Bà:
The Umbrella Academy.
Dal fragile ed emotivo Klaus, capace di entrare in contatto e "dominare" il mondo dei morti;
Dalla forte ma conflittuale Allison, dotata di un potere che le consente di sussurrare agli altri cose che saranno forzati a fare;
Dall'omone Luther, una sorta di incredibile Hulk continuamente alla ricerca di una figura paterna;
Dall'abile ma incasinatissimo Diego, una sorta di Ninja imbattibile nello scontro corpo a corpo;
Dal numero 5, vero motore degli eventi grazie alla sua capacità di viaggiare nel tempo;
Da "My Way" di Frank Sinatra, passando a "Golden Brown" dei "The Stranglers", fino ad arrivare a capolavori come "I was Made for lovin you" dei Kiss e "Twisting The Night Away" di Sam Cooke.
The Umbrella Academy dovrà finire in cima alla vostra lista.
›Netflix and his particular heroes: The Umbrella Academy@serialfiller2193d
Orphan of the Marvel series, Netflix has not lost heart and has immediately relaunched with an original product taken from a non-marvel comic book and that is receiving a lot of positive criticism.
Let's talk about "The Umbrella Academy" series that collects the legacy of the superhero series relaunching on all fronts and widely winning the bet that the big N had set itself.
The series talks about superheroes but through them speaks of something else, much more by focusing on the theme of the hero's identity and above all by throwing a veneer of great humanity on characters who were born with powers but with powers had to reckon to create their space in the world, in the eternal slope between being special and wanting to be normal.
A precipice that has led each of them to take roads sometimes imposed, other times self-imposed, other times inevitable.
There are 7 heroes who are the protagonists of this story.
All 7 have in common being born on the same day. So far, nothing sensational. The peculiarity lies in the fact that each of them was born from a mother who was not pregnant until 20 minutes before the birth.
Mysterious births that have taken place all over the world for a total of 43 babies born to non-pregnant mothers.
A mysterious and wealthy tycoon, Reginald Hargreeves, decided to adopt as many as possible, managing to adopt 7 of them. The 7 boys will grow up in the myth of being special, under the guidance of a surly and anaffective father who will confuse their education with strict training.
Throughout their childhood and adolescence they will be guided to be the saviors of the world, discovering powers that Reginald knows about them and that they will have to discover.
Everyone will discover what they are capable of.
The superhuman strength of the "number 1" Luther, Klaus who will be able to talk to the dead, Alisson who will be able to convince others to do things that she will whisper, the number 5 able to travel in time and space, Diego able to deflect any trajectory of the objects he will throw and finally Ben, a boy who will die prematurely and who had in dowry the strength to extract several large tentacles from his belly.
From the round will soon come out the little Vanya who will be told all his life not to be special, not to have any power,
While her 6 brothers will live an incredible fame and will be idolized by their father, she will live in the shadows, on the sidelines, marginalized among the marginalized, ending up accepting the fact that she is not special.
Already from this premise you can understand how the series is also posed as a family drama. And there are so many dramas to be dissected and stories to tell around the family.
Such a delicate and profound theme is flanked by a much more dynamic one such as time and space travel, for example with the figure of the "number 5" that stands out for its originality and charm.
Klaus acts as a comic relief in many phases, but his contribution to the main storylines is gradually growing, making the character multifaceted and three-dimensional like few others.
Luther is perhaps a bit of a sore point both within the narrative and in the viewer's eyes. He's supposed to be the leader but he doesn't manage to be the leader, literally making every choice wrong, becoming the architect of the group's failure and the impending apocalypse.
Yes, because the theme and core of the narrative is an imminent apocalypse that the family will have to try to avoid with continuous twists and turns between one timeline and another thanks to the entry into the field of the "commission" and the hitmen of the time Hazel (fabulous Cameron Britton) and Cha Cha Cha.
There's a lot of meat on the fire and the writing seems to have been at the level of other great productions. A special attention goes also to the digital creation of Pogo, the chimpanzee magiordomo who tries to guide the boys towards the union and the rediscovery of the founding values of the Umbrella Academy. Hardly on TV have we seen such a cinematic work from the point of view of the digital reconstruction of a single character.
Vanya, played by the famous Ellen Page, will remain a mystery almost until the end and then steal the scene in the final episodes.
It closes with a cliffangher of those that leave one wishing that the second season arrives tomorrow.
So it won't, we'll have to wait at least a year for a series that has already become cult.
›The Umbrella Academy – Season 1 Spoiler Free Review@readingdanvers2475d
I know I am late to this party, but I got to admit, the trailers and the reviews didn't impress me. Some of my friends told me it is a must see so I did see it. I mostly decided to watch the show because of Robert Sheehan who is a brilliant underrated actor and he never disappoints. He is brilliant is in this show as well.
The premise of the show is that on October 1, 1989, 43 women who were not pregnant suddenly all gave birth at the same time to children with powers. The eccentric billionaire Reginald Hargreeves adopts seven of these children from all around the world and trains them to save the world. Both their training place and their code name is "The Umbrella Academy". Hargreeves is so cold and bizarre that he does not even name the children. He gives them numbers that signifies their importance. A robot and an intelligent monkey raise the children with the love that they need. Basically a totally fucked up childhood.
At the start of the show only five siblings remain: Luther Hargreeves (played by Tom Hopper also known as Dickon Tarly from Game of Thrones) - Number One, Diego Hargreeves (played by David Castañeda) - Number Two, Allison Hargreeves (Emmy Raver-Lampman) - Number Three, Klaus Hargreeves (played by the brilliant Robert Sheehan) - Number Four. They also have a sister with no powers, Vanya Hargreeves (played by Ellen Page). The five siblings come together as their father mysteriously dies and his death and the funeral brings them together. Then suddenly, number five appears after he has been gone for years and warns them that the world is about to end and they must stop it from happening.
It sounds like your regular superheroes band together to stop the end of the world plot, but it is not. Nothing is regular about the situation, the circumstances and the plot. Although I think that by episode 2 or 3 I figures out who was the cause of the end of the world. The powers that the siblings have are also interesting and very irregular. It is a fun and mostly unpredictable ride.
However, it is also a slow ride. Some episodes fly by, but some drag. Which prevented me from binging the show. I know that character development is important, but there are all sorts of ways to develop your characters and they have to be more interesting than this. These boring conversations and flashback. Especially as the younger cast is not that particularly good as the older one. The acting in the show isn't great either. Ellen Page decided to play her character in the most boring way possible, instead of doing something interesting with it. Luther is stiff and Allison doesn't really work either. Good thing that Klaus is brilliant and so is number five. Another acting M.V.P is Mary J. Blige as Cha-Cha, it is just super fan to watch her.
The ending of the show was pretty cool looking. It doesn't look like a low budget TV show like some shows on Netflix (I'm looking at you Marvel- Netflix).
A cool fact to note that this show is based on a comic written by Gerard Way, previously the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. He also added musically to the show's soundtrack which is pretty cool.
I don't think that it is a must see show. It is not brilliant, but fun and entertaining and if you like everything superheroes like me, you'll enjoy it.
›The Umbrella Academy: il post Marvel Netflixiano@serialfiller2681d
