Amy Adams does her best and is fine, but the character is left in the hands of a script that loses its way in intricate and pointless twists and turns.
Oldman and Moore are remarkable, but wasted.
Technically it's up and down, with moments reminiscent of genre masters like Hitchcock, but overall Wright's staging lacks the subtle mystery the story needed.
It remains a disappointing shadow of what it could have been with better hands. A waste of talent in a forgettable film that brought nothing new to the table.
Sometimes, life can play a bad pass, you can let tragedies occur over and over again as if of a game of chance it was tried and bad luck comes up to do a feast with our own lives (God free from everything Evil, Amen)
Likewise, it happens to Dr. Anna Fox in the movie "The Woman in the Window", who tries to lead a life comfortable with herself despite all the tragedies she has lived, but even so bad luck sheds with her And it becomes a victim of an endless torment.
Observing through the window is one of your favorite distractions after having developed agoraphobia at a past time, to which your psychologist defines as a very good response to your treatment and she believes it is a great progress to overcome all her traumas, however , what she can not imagine is that this fact of looking through the window will convert her into the only witness of an atrocious crime and that she will put everyone against him when trying to reveal the truth.
This film is categorized in suspense, mystery and thriller genres, was released this year (2021) and is starred by my dearest and admired Amy Adams. In spite of being a movie that I could call stubborn because I did not find anything new, nor relevant, but rather situations and resources we have already seen in many films earlier, I must admit that the movie fulfills its main function of keeping the viewers on their toes and with nail biting suspense and to the expectation of the next thing that could happen, because its plot is worth being terrified.
For my part I can say that it neither displeased me nor that I loved it, stays at a midpoint and is perfect to see it on a Sunday like this. I hope you can see it, and maybe if you would like, comment after that you thought. Have a good day 😊🙏
›[ESP/ENG] Crítica a LA MUJER EN LA VENTANA/ THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW Review.@sangoro971772d

The Woman in the Window is a thriller from 2021, directed by Joe Wright, which counts in its cast with figures such as Amy Adams, Gary Oldman and Julianne Moore, which can be found on Netflix. It tells us the story of Anna Fox, a child psychologist with agoraphobia problems who believes she has seen through her window a murder in her neighbors' house. Anna will seek to bring to light what really happened, fighting against the disbelief of those around her and against her own psychological problems.
At first glance, what stands out most about the film is the talent of its actors, from those with major roles such as Amy Addams and Gary Oldman to others with more sporadic participations, such as Julianne Moore and Fred Hechinger. As for the script, it manages to build a story where tension and mystery are always on the rise, keeping your interest in knowing what will happen next, besides managing to tell a whole movie in a single location, which would be the protagonist's house, creating a claustrophobic and suffocating atmosphere for the viewer. The tension in the script is fed by the mise-en-scene and photography, with shots that range from general shots with a composition according to the conflict, to changes in the colors of the lighting. And as a good suspense film with dyes of terror, it enjoys a sound editing where silence is decisive, in addition to having an ideal musical composition to accelerate the heartbeat.
Despite its virtues, The Woman in the Window is one of those films that can fall into the predictable, where certain revelations and ideas are seen coming as they are suggested. Likewise, the second half can feel saturated with information in relation to the first half, making the film a bit of a drag to follow.
Despite its predictability, The Woman in the Window is still a film that gives you satisfaction when you know or see some moments coming, as well as manages to surprise you when you least expect it. Likewise, it manages to be an entertaining journey to its resolution, as it also keeps winks or references to classic film noir and Alfred Hitchcock.
›"The Woman in the Window" was a Winding Road of a Movie... xD@tegoshei1792d
I got the chance to watch another psychological thriller movie from Netflix during my day off last weekend. I usually just type in psychological horror or thriller in the search box and randomly choose the movie to watch.
What caught my eye was a movie entitled, "The Woman in the Window". I used to study nursing in University and one of my favorite subjects was Psychiatric Nursing. It's really interesting to know how the human mind works. It helped me understand people who have mental problems and at least try to understand their way of thinking and their behavior.
This might actually be the reason why I enjoy watching psychological stuff. Now, going back to the movie...
The main character Anna Fox is agoraphobic. Basically, she has an anxiety disorder than making her leave her "safe place" would lead to her being anxious and have a panic attack. In her case, she has never left her house for quite a while.
Ironically, she's a child psychologist but she's battling with her own mental problems. She's currently having some therapy with her doctor who visits her from time to time and give her some medicine that could somehow help her control her anxiety and mental state.
People like her may also have suicidal ideation, so in order to somehow train herself to be out in the open, the doctor suggested she start with going outside with an umbrella. Another interesting thing that her doctor told her is that "Curiosity is a good thing.". Somehow, it can deviate her from her negative thoughts... so he often asked her for her observations on her neighbors.
It so happened that a family recently transferred to the building across her street. She somehow befriended the son named "Ethan" who seems to have a problem as well.. basically some family relationship problems like most teenagers have. She opened up to him about being separated from her family and stuff, so the boy could also somehow feel free to let out his thoughts. She's becoming her child psychologist self at that point.
Her day to day life continued as it is. Regularly speaking with her family, taking the therapy... taking her medication with alcohol *(which is really horrible, I believe)*... until she witnessed someone being murdered from across the street. Was it truly happening or just her imagination?

### What do I think about the movie?
I personally enjoyed it. The setting was so simple especially because the main character is somehow stuck inside her house, but it didn't stop the thrill for each scene. I like how they use simple things like the dripping water from the faucet or things falling down as a thrilling sound effect. It somehow builds up the tension in a different way.
I like the twist and turns of the story. Yes, there were quite a lot in this movie, so I enjoyed it even more. One thing though, it was too fast. xD
Everything happened to fast. I think it would have been better if each character was built up more... like some background or back story of some sort, but there wasn't a lot of that. I guess that's the reason why I felt it was a bit rushed.
Anyway, the main character was really good. I mean, the actress herself. She really portrayed the agoraphobic role pretty well and I love the way she acts. It was so convincing... I don't often comment on the actors, but I really think she deserve much credit. ^^
All in all, it was a winding road of a movie. It could have been better, but it was still worth my time. :) So, if you're curious about it, feel free to watch it on Netflix! ^^
I have always enjoyed a good mystery movie and this was one of the films I was expecting the most last year. The pandemic delayed its release date for several months, and it was on May 14 of this year when the film was finally available to watch on Netflix. The film belongs in the genres of mystery and suspense and it can be seen as a modern version of the classic film directed by Hitchcock called Rear Window. There is also has some influence from a good movie from 2011 called Dream House.
The Woman in the Window hasn't been receiving very good reviews but I decided to watch it nonetheless because I loved the genre and the cast is spectacular. This wasn't a bad choice because I ended up having a nice time watching this flick.
Main names associated with the film
The director is Joe Wright, he has directed some productions in recent years and the most recent ones that can be considered well-known are the Black Mirror episode called Nosedive, and a film called Darkest Hour. Both of these productions were great, and the same can be said about his movies from the beginning of the last decade and the decade of the 2000s. This is an experienced director who has constant success with his films.
The writer was Tracy Letts, this guy is usually known as an actor but he has also worked as a writer for several successful productions such as Killer Joe and August: Osage County. In this film, he wrote the screenplay and also played a secondary role.
The main character is played by Amy Adams, a terrific actress that has extensive experience playing important roles, and was one of the reasons why I decided to watch this film. My favorite production where she plays the main role is the HBO series called Sharp Objects, but she also does a great performance in the films Arrival and American Hustle.
Another important character is Gary Oldman, a very popular guy who has been working in great films during the past few decades. You might have seen him in recent years in films such as The Laundromat and Darkest Hour.
Julianne Moore is another great actress who makes an appearance in this film although she doesn't have much screen time. It has been a while since I last saw this actress and I always remember her as the woman from the film The Forgotten, which was an awesome movie in my opinion.

Anthony Mackie is another well-known star that plays a minor role in this film and just like Julianne Moore, he doesn't have much screen time, he appears for what seemed to be less than 5 minutes. Some of the main productions with Mackie are the Avengers films of course, and Altered Carbon season 2. This actor has been so active in the past few years that there are so many more productions that are simply too much to mention.
Finally, we have another actor that I was able to recognize but isn't as popular as the ones I just mentioned. I am talking about Wyatt Russell, and I only know of this actor because he played the main role in a Black Mirror episode called Playtest. That one was an awesome episode and is actually one of my favorites of that series. He also played an important role in the recently released series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
As we can see, this film is packed with talent all over the place and the cast is one of the best I have seen in recent times. It is not easy to have so much acting talent in the cast of a single movie.
What was the movie about?
As mentioned before, this film can be considered the modern version or spiritual successor of the classic film Rear Window. This time, instead of a man with a broken leg we have a woman with agoraphobia, which prevents her from going outside because this causes her horrible panic attacks. This means she spends all of her time inside her house and she never leaves. Enduring so much isolation can have psychological consequences for most people.
This woman has her doctor that she seems several times per week and is also taking some medication. Something happened in her past that caused the agoraphobia and this will be eventually revealed as the movie advances. She is a smart person and worked as a child psychologist before she became housebound.
She rents her basement to a guy so it isn't like she is entirely alone the whole time but she doesn't have close contact with anyone so there is some loneliness in her life. Since she doesn't have much to do, she begins to observe her neighbors through her windows.
My own screenshot | Mi propio pantallazo
She becomes interested in a new family that is moving across the street so she begins to observe them day after day and just like in the Rear Window movie, eventually, she will see something traumatizing. The way the mystery starts is pretty much the same as in the Rear Window film but the way everything is solved is completely different.
The story has 2 great twists that will surprise many of the viewers, especially the second one. It has several intense moments and it will make the viewer suspect and doubt some of the characters.
How were the performance from the cast, the settings and the camera work?
The performance from Amy Adams was ok. She did a good job portraying a disturbed woman although this wasn't my favorite performance from her. Julianne Moore did a great job with the 5 minutes of screentime she had and Gary Oldman was the one with my favorite performance in the entire film, he is very good at showing rage and adopting a hostile attitude.
The settings were the inside of a house for around 99% of the time so there is little to be said about that. At least the house was very big which allowed for some scenes to be more intense. The camera work was regular, it didn't have anything special and I believe some scenes could have been much more suspenseful. The film can feel a bit generic because it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but at least it had some entertaining twists.
Final thoughts
The Woman in the Window is an enjoyable film and I recommend it to people who like to watch mystery and suspense films. If you have seen and enjoyed the films I mentioned at the beginning of the post, then you will probably have a good time watching this one as well.
I do feel like it could have been more impactful and suspenseful, but perfection is hardly achievable and this film is certainly worth watching.

Despite being subscribed to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, I use these platforms little because most of the movies I watch are from a more unusual source. The few times I use these platforms is to watch a series, mini-series, or a movie, usually not recent, that casually happens to be available in one or the other of these apps.
As soon as I knew that Netflix would release a movie starring Amy Adams, I immediately added it to my "To Watch" list because I think she's an extraordinary actress and I have loved all the performances I have seen from her. I didn't look for the movie trailer, I didn't look for the synopsis so as not to be predisposed and I got ready to watch it last night. In short, the film tells the story of Dr. Anna Fox (Adams), who suffers from agoraphobia as part of a depressive process and trauma due to a shocking event from her recent past. Anna spends her days locked in her house consuming medicine with some wine and she watches old movies and spying on her neighbors. Until one day, while looking out the window, he sees something tragic happening in front of his house, at the Russell home, a family that has just arrived in the neighborhood.
The first direct reference that comes to mind is Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, not only because of the theme but because one of the first scenes we see on Anna's TV screen is precisely a scene with James Stewart. The reasons for their confinement are different (Stewart was a reporter who, after an accident, must stay home with a cast on his leg) but both spy on their neighbors through a camera lens and see things they shouldn't see.
However, there the similarities end. It can be a bit tiresome to compare Hitchcock with the Director of this film Joe Wright (Pride and prejudice, Anna Karenina, Atonement, Darkest hour) but The woman in the window is a film far below quality of Rear window and even of the quality of his own previous works. The script is weak, the film is predictable and towards the last half hour a series of revelations happen that instead of shocking and surprising, are boring and not very credible. I don't want to advance much of the plot because I know that it's still very recent and I know that many of you haven't seen it, but understanding that psychological thrillers respond to a certain structure and certain elements, I believe that in this film, those same elements are a failure after another.
I don't know if the flaws in the story are due to the script or the book it's based on because I haven't read the book, but I can say that not even a good performance from Amy Adams or the great actors who play supporting roles in this tape (Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Jason Leigh) manage to save it from disaster. It's not the first time Netflix has disappointed me with its offer of titles and it will surely not be the last, so that's why I think I will continue to prefer, as before, other corners of the internet with better productions and movies that are really worth it. In short The woman in the window is another Netflix mistake.
En pocas palabras The woman in the window es otro desacierto de Netflix.

"There is no spoiler for the film"
The story
Essentially the tale of the film ... Discussion about a youngster specialist named Anna, who experiences a condition of melancholy, which makes her confine in a house a long way from her better half and girl, and attempt to possess herself by watching her neighbors as a type of treatment.
Until one day, new neighbors go to her, and she sees a specific mishap that happens to them in the house, and she attempts to demonstrate it, yet that and we see what the mishap is and will it succeed that it demonstrates it or not .....
Impression
On a fundamental level, on the off chance that you are an aficionado of the film and read the account of the film or watch its notice, the primary film that comes to you is Rear Window, and congenial counsel, know that this film is tantamount to this exemplary film, since that way, you will execute the delight as far as you since it is considerably less than it .. ...
Our film remains, it is a film that can be watched and feelings contrast in it, in which individuals will see a beast as per the information we have from the names of the producers and entertainers to it ......
In any case, paying little heed to everything, there is no uncertainty that the film is loaded with appeal and tension that will permit a portion of its missteps to be ignored.
Furthermore, every twisted incurred guaranteed her that the existences of the rich and their negligible ethics couldn't change regardless of how much blood and wounds she would drain. The account of the film was additionally a proof to her that the individual who cherishes her most won't get her out of this fight. It doesn't simply battle conventional individuals, it battles against customs and the idea of the family.
Film producers
What's more, there are individuals who are not intrigued, who are the makers of the work, and there is no need. They will see it in a customary film and invest a decent energy and salvation ...
What's more, others may like the film without a doubt and this is conceivable, however I think this is individuals who will watch the back window.
A point for the individuals who are not looking for the notice. I think a significant point, on the grounds that the film, the occasions that showed up in the promotion, interfaces with the content of the film, and the actual film isn't long. The above all else, and this is a major issue with the film ...
Mental show
The content for the subsequent film, the film, exploited the new blend to attempt to introduce it in the personality of Anna, to move away from the examinations, and this was the most awesome aspect of the film to the mental sensational side and its turn of events, yet it additionally came in your cerebrum motion pictures in which exactly the same thing occurred before that. ...
At the level of the plot, the film was a little rushed in the closure grouping, and everything was immediately settled, and this is predominantly because of the lethargic advancement of the occasions of the main content.
The film "The Woman in the Window" is a discouraging film for the family member, and this doesn't accept it as an overall judgment other than to ingest my words over the entire and I see that these words concern him, other than that I take a gander at the film and say your assessment regarding it, and attempt to not know the slightest bit about it. About it prior to watching ..

THE MIND POSSESSES THE ABILITY TO SUPPRESS ANY MEMORY THAT HURTS US, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER WE ARE THE CAUSE OF THAT HARM.
Netflix has lately brought to its platform movies that have only served as filler of a catalog that is slowly running out and that sadly has failed to catch an audience looking for variety and entertainment, which has generated that the platform is forced to bring movies or series that do not meet the standards of quality, while movies or series that can win back the attention of viewers arrive.
THE COVER WAS EDITED BY ME WITH IMAGES FROM THE FILM "THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW" AND IMAGES OF MY OWNERSHIP.
The Woman in the Window is a movie that many readers of the Novel under the same name have been waiting for since 2019, but due to some production problems and adding to that the current situation of the world with the pandemic has delayed the release of this movie that after so many stumbles could be released on May 14 of this year.
For those who read me you must agree that I don't usually talk much about the directors, writers and all the team that manages the production of any movie, since I focus more on the story and its characters, but this time I was curious after watching the movie to know who directed it and I ran into the surprise that it was Mr. Joe Wright, yes the same one who is part of the team of one of the best series that television has had in recent years I'm talking about Black Mirror and something gave me the impression that it had some of that aroma that makes it so characteristic and has liked so much.
All these ingredients form the perfect recipe to have a small preview of what the film will be about and the direction in which it will take the viewer.

WHAT'S THE MOVIE ABOUT?
I'LL TELL YOU QUICKLY AND WITHOUT SPOILERS, IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!
We will meet Dr. Anna Fox played by the beautiful actress (Amy Adams) who gives life to a child psychologist agoraphobia, this anxiety disorder leads her to spend much of her time inside her house and see the mute through a window.
The doctor has a long distance relationship with her husband and daughter who through phone calls make social life with her and can be in constant communication, this at first does not seem normal and can be a little difficult to understand the reason for the distance, if they are separated or traveling, etc., these doubts come to light when we see that she is visited by a specialist who makes a checkup to see how she feels and has moved beyond the window.
¡TE LO CUENTO RÁPIDO Y SIN SPOILERS, POR SI Aún NO LA HAS VISTO!
Since the disorder she suffers from does not make her act in a normal way and she avoids at least socializing with strangers that may lead to anxiety and cause her panic or anguish.
Everything seems to revolve around the solitary life of Dr. Anna Fox, but things change course when we see that a new family moves into the house across the street and is visited by her young neighbor Ethan (Fred Hechinger) who brings her a gift and strikes up a conversation with the doctor. Everything seems normal, but suddenly she begins to receive visits from her neighbors Jane Russell (Julianne Moore) and Alistair Russell (Gary Oldman) at different times and separately which seems casual, this serves as an impetus for the doctor to spy on her neighbors and somehow get to know them a little more, since due to her anxiety disorder she cannot socialize outside her home. One night she witnesses a crime while spying on her neighbors and must make a decision whether to call the police or keep quiet.
The pace of things begins to accelerate when she calls the police, but surprisingly the family shows up at the house and that is where everything starts to get complicated, since what she saw seems not to have happened and her psychological problems come to light which further complicates the situation and everything is left on the table where doubts and mystery take over and change everything that is presented in the first scenes of the film.
It is an interesting plot that has twists that seem to try to confuse the viewer and little by little they reveal the clues to put together the puzzle that takes shape when everything is revealed and we can understand as the film progresses what is really happening.
EVERY OPINION OR POINT OF VIEW ABOUT THIS FILM IS SUBJECTIVE, EACH VIEWER HAS A WAY OF UNDERSTANDING AND COMPREHENDING WHAT THEY SEE AND FEEL, NO OPINION IS RIGHT OR WRONG, THEY ARE JUST DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW.
A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER TO ENTERTAIN.
It is a film that really does not try to go beyond what it presents at the beginning or in the trailer itself, it is simple and with a clear objective which is to entertain the viewer without using unnecessary resources that make the film more complicated than it appears to be from the beginning.
The use of plot twists is its strong point and this is good when you want this kind of movies to make things more interesting and it is a little difficult to perceive any failure and have the need to try to predict what will happen, because this time it is almost impossible to grasp at first the direction that the film will take and that may not blow your head off, but it will keep you in expectation of what may or may not happen.
Its main character is practically the center of the whole movie and it is interesting to see how the actress (Amy Adams) shows another facet of her career and leaves us with a good taste in our mouths with a performance in line with what is expected in the film. I had my doubts about whether they could capture my attention and that halfway through the movie I would be bored, as lately I have not had much patience for movies on the Netflix platform that seem to take the easy road and train pure catalog fillers.
Fortunately I was wrong and I was able to enjoy a film that is certainly not the best I've seen, but at least I was entertained for a large part of the film.
DO I RECOMMEND IT? Yes definitely yes, it's easy to digest, not complicated and with interesting twists, the perfect formula to say that it's worth watching and leave you with the feeling that you didn't waste your time and also have the opportunity to learn about the strange way the human mind works.
FINAL THOUGHT
It is complicated to want to understand how our mind works and where it can take us when we go through difficult moments that mark a before and after in our lives, we tend to struggle with our memories and choose which ones should stay alive and those that we would not want to remember ever again.
Watching this movie I couldn't help but remember the plot of the film Fracture which told us the story of a man who had gone through such an intense moment that his mind created a world totally different from the one that was really before him and that in one way or another submerged him in that loneliness where he could be happy no matter what he had done and that broke his life in half.
Of course this film is totally different and has an ending that distances them from each other, but they play with the secrets of the human mind that are certainly interesting to know and impact you in such overwhelming ways that you are always left with that curiosity to know a little more.
Well, MOVIEGOERS I hope you liked my little review and I hope to read your comments, we are reading.
MY RATING 7/10.
