    Story Summary

Tomo Aizawa and Junichiro Jun Kubota have been best friends since childhood. But the problem is that Tomo loves Jun as always, but Jun only sees him as a friend and that too as a boy!

    Source

Tomo looks and acts like a boy. So Jun has never seen her as a girl. The story revolves around Tomo's struggle. Where she tries to express her love and convince Jun that she is not just a friend but someone special to him.

Through the story, we see the funny behavior of Tomo's girlfriend Misuzu and Carol, Jun's gradual understanding of her feelings, and Tomo's realization of her own identity.

    Source

    ✅ Positive aspects

*The comedic timing of the anime is amazing. Tomo's simplicity, Jun's indifference, Misuzu's cold sarcasm, and Carol's cute but intelligent presence make the story more enjoyable.

*The animation by Le-Duce Studio is absolutely fresh and lively. The characters' expressions are beautifully portrayed, which makes the comedy scenes even more lively.

*Compared to many romantic-comedy anime, where the girls are usually shy and quiet, Tomo is the complete opposite - she is strong, playful, and never backs down. This difference makes the story even more interesting.

*Tomo's voice actress Rie Takahashi and Jun's Kaito Ishikawa give their characters perfect voices. The opening and ending songs are also very cute and catchy!

    ❌ Cons

*While the first half of the anime is quite fast-paced, the middle few episodes are relatively slow, where the story can feel a bit stagnant.

*While there were plenty of comedy and cute moments, Jun's feelings are revealed a bit slowly, which may be a bit disappointing for some viewers.

On several occasions we have idealized romance through the stories presented to us by the world of anime, since having characters who end up falling madly in love and being destined for life; we seek somehow that fate or destiny chooses us as the protagonist and not as a spectator, to have our own love story where we will meet another person who will change the course of our lives and be happy forever. Therefore, this genre is too popular, but unfortunately too much idealization makes us take our feet off the ground and build expectations and demands that could become absurd, so I have preferred to consume stories that contain a certain degree of logic in the development of the story, which would be likely to happen and stick to reality, although sometimes I get to sin and end up with stories that even in my other life I could not imagine.

Today I will tell you about the anime: Tomo-chan is a girl, which tells the story of our protagonist, Tomo, who is a very masculine girl who finds herself in a difficult and uncomfortable situation, since she has fallen in love with her childhood friend, Junichiro, who only considers her as one of his friends. Tomo wants them to be something more, but Jun only sees her as a friend and does not see her as a woman; it is here where our protagonist decides to show Jun that she is also a woman and they could build a beautiful and confident love story where they would not necessarily have to stop being best friends and build special moments that help nurture their love.

Possibly, those of the old school seek to compare this series with the classic Toradora, since both protagonists are both with a great temperament; which are spent using brute force to demonstrate and express their love for others, could come to consider that it is a readaptation of the story for modern times, which was a rescue too friendly in my opinion to consider again that the Yandere are not always heartless people haha. This story grabbed me from the first chapter, being a naturally occurring event and the quest to pick up with maturity that a new feeling arises; so the reactions are decontaminated from adolescent childishness and at last we are presented with something truly satisfying to our romantic side no matter how short the last scene lasts.

Turning to the negative side of this story, the fact that it is a short season of 13 chapters, does not help too much that the end of the plot gives us more information, so the empty effect in the stomach, after concluding the story, is still in force in this plot, something that is difficult to escape in anime and the problem of Asians for leaving us in uncertainty. Let me know if you have seen this series and what you thought of it. Thanks for reading my reviews.

Romantic comedies is a type of anime genre that more productions should come out per year, and unlike other trendy genres, I don't think they will ever stop being produced. This title while it doesn't really create anything new in the genre, it tells its story and I think it does it well. Released this year, directed by Hitoshi Namba. Developed by Lay-duce studio. Based on the manga of the same name by Fumita Yanagida.

Synopsis: Tomo Aizawa is proposing to Junichirou Kubota, his childhood friend; however, Junichirou "Jun" doesn't answer him with a refusal, but with the acceptance of being best friends. Tomo is treated as if he were just another fellow man because of his "tomboy" appearance. Tomo will try to reverse the situation by getting advice from her friends, while rethinking her relationship with Jun.

The premise is simple Tomo is a girl with a masculine appearance, who will seek to become more feminine in order to send a clear message to Jun. Added to this are the various characters in the series who have attention-grabbing personalities, such as her friends Misuzu and Carol.

The series has as at the beginning a lot of misunderstandings and funny situations, which leaves overall, an enjoyable romantic comedy, which while not deep is still entertaining. You can tell it's based on a 4-koma manga, as it has quick jokes at every turn.

The animation is acceptable, at least it doesn't fail to have a lot of static moments and I think the color mixing works. I ended up liking the opening, I always end up watching the whole thing, the ending is very generic. The voice work stands out quite a bit, especially that of the protagonist Tomo, played by Rie Takahashi.

It's not the anime that's going to change your life, but as a romantic comedy for me this anime, it works well.

    Calificación personal: 7.3 de 10.

  4. Tomo-chan Is a Girl! | There is nothing imposible for a tomboy@jauregui981170d

    image.png

    image.png

This is one of those anime that you can't judge by the cover, not even by the plot used for its creation. From the beginning I thought it was going to be full of clichés, stereotypes, where nothing was going to be achieved and everything was going to be, once again, a bad representation of teenagers existing and socializing in an environment that normally is their first contact with the real world, but no. With each chapter all possible criticisms I could make were losing substance and I ended up falling in love with this series, with each chapter all the possible criticisms that I could make to it were losing substance and I ended up falling in love with the series, with this I do not mean that the series does not have clichés, nor sometimes falls into stereotypes, but they never and never have the importance of all the rest of the things that they do represent in a real way.

This series could be just another romantic comedy, and that's what I expected, but it wasn't, the premise is that Tomo and Jun are friends since childhood, but they are already in high school and Tomo fell in love with Jun, so she decides to declare her love and she does, in the first minutes of the first chapter, but Jun's response is something that puzzles her, because Jun doesn't even consider Tomo a chicha, so that declaration of love is left as if it were a demonstration of affection and affection between friends. Frustrated, Tomo decides to start doing things so that Jun will start seeing her as a girl and thus finally know if her feelings are reciprocated or not, even if this threatens their lifelong friendship.

    image.png

    image.png

The comedy is exquisite, first class, it had been a while since I laughed so much or got excited watching the love attempts of two people, everything was too cute and tender, I was happy while watching the series, maybe I will watch it again just for that. As you could read, the plot is nothing out of this world, something that has been seen before, but the development of this story is something that catches from the moment you get to engage with the plot, with the story, with the characters, everything is too real, the characters are very well created, so we can get to feel like watching an episode of La Rosa de Guadalupe in anime and series format and we could not be happier that everything is like that.

The development of the characters is going to be something very incredible here, little by little we are going to get to know their thoughts and feelings, events that happened in the past and how these have affected their actions in the present, how promises made that apparently had been forgotten are still very present and still modify the actions, or rather, the lack of actions, and everything is going to be escalating in a way that is going to surprise us when things are more series than we thought they would become, leaving us not knowing how to react or what to feel. This series is a thousand times better than anyone could have imagined when they first heard about it.

    image.png

    image.png

One of my biggest motivations when I decided to watch the series was that Tomo is a tomboy and because of that is that Jun did not reciprocate her feelings at the beginning of the series, which is the reason for all the events that take place later on, so, I wanted to see how disastrous everything was going to end up being regarding Tomo being a tomboy, but as I said, I didn't have time to criticize what I was seeing at any point, yes there are things that can become targets of criticism, but not in a bad way, but they are things that need to be criticized because the fact that they even happen shows how bad the society is where you come to think that something is wrong with someone just because they don't comply with what is normalized as common.

One of the main and strong things of the series is that Tomo is going to try to change so that Jun begins to see her with a different perspective and thus be able to try to have a loving relationship, because someone once told her that maybe she would have to be more feminine for Jun to notice her, so here we will see how a comment that at the time was not made with bad intentions and that was not analyzed enough ends up becoming a big problem for Tomo, because she will even think that no one will like her for the simple fact that she is not as feminine as the other girls, we will also see how that affects the person who said it to Tomo, because he never had bad intentions, it was just a comment he made without thinking much, I will not tell you who it was not to make spoilers, but it will result in great character developments where people accept the mistakes they made in the hope that it will not ruin friendships that are very significant.

    image.png

    image.png

Another of my favorite things about the series is that it doesn't focus only on the main characters, which would be Tomo and Jun, but we are also going to see a lot of their friends, especially Mizuzu and Carol, two completely opposite people that somehow end up joining each time, Misuzu being the scary one, and Carol the ray of sunshine that must be protected at all costs. Carol is my favorite character, she is the representation of the typical dumb blonde who doesn't know anything about what is going on around her, for with each chapter she is going to surprise us, being the only one who realizes Misuzu's secret plans and lets her know, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

This is a very light series that is worth watching, it will give us a lot of comedy, a lot of romance, a lot of drama, and leaves us as a message that friendship is more important than many other things, both within a love relationship, and outside of it, because we will see that Tomo and Jun are very good friends before even wanting to have a relationship, and that although they were afraid that this friendship would be lost, things turned out differently, in a very good way. And I didn't tell you about Jun, there's no need, he's a good guy.

  5. The Manga "TOMO-CHAN wa ONNANOKO" Really Hits Home For Me... xD (WARNING: May contain some Spoilers....)@tegoshei1708d

What's up otaku(s)?! It's been ages since I wrote something in our community, but this doesn't mean that I haven't been watching anime or reading manga. I still do... every day, even. However, I'm mostly re-watching anime with my mama and I have most likely written reviews on them in the past. Well, there are new ones I'm about to review in the days to come, but today, I want to talk about a manga I recently read which is called ***"TOMO-CHAN wa ONNANOKO"***.

The story revolve around Tomo-chan and her family and friends. Tomo-chan has a childhood friend named Jun. When they were kids, they used to play and train *(karate)* together. Tomo-chan is a tomboy growing up and she's unusually strong that even Jun finds it hard to win against her. Despite that, Jun really looked up to her and continuously challenged her to many things. However, shock came to both of them when they finally went to school together in middle school.

I couldn't help but laugh at this part. Jun genuinely thought that the childhood friend he has been challenging and doing outrageous things with was actually a girl. Also, imagine the shock that Tomo-chan must have felt when Jun pointed out his disbelief when he saw her wearing a skirt.
    > When I was young, I was also pretty boyish. There was even a time when I had this bob-cut hairstyle that I made me look like a boy instead of a girl. One time, I visited my papa in his office at the police station in the province. The chief of police called me "dodong" which is usually used to call little boys in my language. It's because he thought I was a boy not only due to my appearance but also my boyish ways of doing things.
When they became high school students *(main focus of the manga)*, Tomo-chan started to realize her feelings for Jun, but because of her "rowdy" personality, it has become a challenge. In order to escape being ***bro-zoned*** by the love of her life, she asked advice from her quite eccentric friends.

Misuzu *(black-haired girl)* is also Tomo-chan's childhood friend. She's quite manipulative and enjoys using people and various situations to entertain her. She hates Jun so much. Despite this, I believe she's a great friend to Tomo. I think it's just difficult for her to express herself... perhaps a bit of a tsundere? but a dark tsundere. *haha*
The other friend, Carol, is quite of an airhead. Most of the time, you'd have no idea what she's thinking. Despite that, she's always ready to give a hand.

The story is really fun and the characters are awesome. I mean, they have really different personalities, yet, they blended pretty well with each other. Their parents were also introduced and they're as hilarious as their kids.
    > The situation Tomo-chan is really hits home for me because I have always been one of the boys ever since I was young even until this day. I remember being much closer to guy friends because we share similar hobbies like playing basketball, anime, video games, etc. I remember when I was in high school, there was this friend that I like. Everyone around us thought we're together... even his sister and mom often text me to give him reminders on various stuff since they thought I'm his girlfriend when in fact, we're just buddies. Sure I liked him but I don't think he ever took me seriously since we're best buds! *haha*
Some of my friends from my previous workplace still calls me "brad" meaning "brother". I don't mind, though... It's cool! *haha* Guy stuff are way cooler than girly ones... so yeah~! :P

It would be awesome to see an animated film for this manga. It won't really fit as a series unless it's a 5-minute episode anime. Maybe creating a movie for this story would be amazing! I rarely read RomCom, but I just couldn't stop reading this since it was super relatable for me. *haha*
