Hello friends, I'm here with another fascinating movie I watched titled underworld: Evolution and I would like to share with you.

The movie is about when Selene, a vampire warrior, along with Michael, who is half-werewolf, searches for answers in the history of their races to learn about the reason behind their war.

It begins In 1202, an army led by the three vampire elders (Markus, Viktor, and Amelia) arrives at a village full of werewolves.

Viktor and Amelia capture their target, Markus's twin brother, the first, and most powerful werewolf. Despite Markus's defiance, Viktor orders that he be forever imprisoned in a secret location.

In the present day, the vampire Selene takes Michael to a safe house so that she can confront the vampire regent kraven; she plans to stop Kraven from killing Markus.

Markus awakens before Kraven arrives and kills him and his men. Lorenz Macaro, an elderly man who is really an immortal and forefather to both the vampire and Lycan races, sends in a team to investigate the aftermath of the battle in the Lycans' lair.

When Macaro examines Viktor's corpse, he finds a metal disc which matches a pendant originally worn by Sonja. The other half of the pendant is possessed by Michael after Lucian's death.

Using the knowledge of computers obtained from Kraven's blood, Markus tracks Selene and Michael down and attacks them, but they evade him and hide in a warehouse.

There, Selene and Michael share their feelings and have passionate sex. Knowing that the pendant is important to Markus, Michael, and Selene set out to discover why he wants it.

Selene recalls that she saw it as a child, but does not know its significance. They travel to the hideout of the exiled vampire historian Andreas Tanis.

Tanis reveals that Markus was the first vampire, one of the three sons of Alexander Corvinus the first immortal.

Markus was bitten by a bat and metamorphosed into a vampire, while William was bitten by a wolf and metamorphosed into a werewolf.

The third son remained human and gave rise to a line of mortal descendants, including Michael, who became the first Lycan-Vampire hybrid.

The first werewolves created by William were entirely feral and unable to return to their human forms.

Due to William's destructiveness, Markus approached Viktor, then a dying mortal warlord, and offered to metamorphose him and his army into vampires in exchange for tracking down and stopping William and destroying those he had infected.

Meanwhile, Viktor did not kill the brothers because he was led to believe that doing so would result in the immediate extinction of all vampires and Lycans.

Tanis further reveals that Selene's father was the architect who built William's prison, and that the pendant is the key.

Viktor killed Selene's family because they knew the prison's location but metamorphosed Selene into a vampire with the location of the prison encoded in her blood.

Tanis then refers Selene and Michael to Macaro for help. After Selene and Michael leave, Markus arrives and drinks Tanis' blood to learn Selene and Michael's location, killing Tanis.

Visiting Macaro, Selene and Michael discover he is Alexander Corvinus. He reveals that he has devoted his entire immortal life to keeping the Vampire-Lycan war a secret, and refuses to assist Selene in killing his sons.

Markus arrives, fights Michael and impales him. He learns the location of William's prison by drinking Selene's blood before mortally wounding his father and obtaining the other half of the pendant.

He mocks his father's refusal to help William, revealing that he intends with William to rule the world as the master of a race of vampire-Lycan hybrids.

At Alexander's bidding, Selene drinks his blood, enhancing her physical strength and healing abilities to a level equivalent to that of a hybrid.

Find out what happened next on Netflix as she enhanced her physical strength and healing abilities to a level equivalent to that of a hybrid as the movie gets more fascinating.

    Thanks for reading my content.

Underworl Evolution, Source of Image Edited with Paint

UnderWorld Evolution is a film that develops and expands the history of this franchise to know the past and birth of these beings, it is the primordial approach of the eternal conflict between Lycans and Vampires.

If there is something I liked about this whole story is its Protagonist Selene played by Kate Beckinsale that I still remember that first moment I saw her jump over an abyss and fall intact with style, is aesthetics, is style, is beauty, sensuality pale vampire with dark colored hair what continues to enchant in this story, I can not help but want more of her as Selene.

The Lycans and vampires conflict is the basis or foundation for Selene to adorn the pedestal of this entire franchise and this film is not far behind, I liked what I saw, the battles, the effects that in my opinion some are practical effects and that is a plus for me in addition to giving a little more development to the Lycans, in itself one of my favorite monsters in my childhood that called my attention are the werewolves, vampires have never attracted me as monsters, in fact I find them weak except when they are women, with them if I fall totally under their eternal bite.

It is a film whose objective is commercial, it does not seek to leave a philosophical message and I am happy with the result, I like these monsters at war, as I wish Universal could develop its universe that includes these two types of beings, Vampires and Wolves but while I enjoy this franchise and others that could be established and offer entertaining stories with action and lots of bullets, the latter is undeniable.

    History Lesson, Source of Image

It has its negative points well marked, it tries to give the genesis of these monsters in this saga that in fact seemed to me the best of the film, when they travel to the past and reflect us those costumes of conflict, war, death and destruction I enjoy it very much but the cherry on the cake was missing.

I think it has all the elements to explode one of the characters and give us the visual of another monster but they don't do it and my mind asks to see it so I was unsatisfied in that aspect, I will mention more of this in the spoilers area because Alexander Corvinus is affected although I have the doubt if they were going to use this for a future film, the detail is that there would not be the Selene that we know.

Something I don't like is kept in this film, Selene's companion named Michael aesthetically displeases me in his hybrid state, I think he lacks imagination, that affects my viewing because he is still an important part of Selene's development.

Apart from the previous criticisms, the film remains as an entertaining story to watch that does not have a villain as solid as in the first film and in fact they have to mention again Viktor to give more power to the plot but it does have a villain of power aesthetically speaking and his counterpart who is a flash during the film also imposes with his look and therefore deserves 7 out of 10, The war between Lycans and Vampires through the blue eyes of Selene is a cup full of blood that I like to drink.

    Alexander Corvinus, Source of Image

Starts Spoiler Zone to mention those scenes that I liked and details in the plot that lacked to show in all its splendor.

The scene in which they meet with the character named Andreas Tannis seems to me the best of the film, I like the history of civilizations, read their cultures, religions, gods, legends and this scene has a slight touch of archeology because it shows us books, ancient knowledge of these beings that yes, its greatest potential is the action scenes but in my case I really appreciate that moment of calm in which we just sit to discuss history and it is at that moment that we know how Alexander Corvinus is the Father of two species of monsters through his sons Marcus and William.

As action scenes I highlight Marcus Corvinus, this character is pure violence, that chase during the truck, the way he endures bullets, blows, falls, fractures impresses the eye and aesthetically imposes, if I see him as a vampire who gets out of that erotic or sensual cliché that currently drowns them, in him I see a monster that is equivalent to the Wolves or Lycans in his savagery when he is in his vampire phase.

Alexander Corvinus is where my biggest criticism falls because he justifies his non-transformation because he loves his children and this has zero weight for me in the whole film because I don't know him, I have no compassion for him and his effort to clean up the mess of his children, he is only there to remove one of the keys from Viktor's chest and give his blood to Selene so she ends up enduring the sunlight, after that I see no purpose to a character with so much history and potential that only ends up being a softy.

    image.png

    William Corvinus, Source of Image

This contrasts with what I liked the most which are those moments in the past, I want to see Alexander's story, which were the mothers of Marcus and William, did they influence in some way in their monstrous genetics, I ask myself questions that I think they did influence but I do not see the answers because the character dies and leaves me in disappointment with so much history to exploit.

William Corvinus and his vault or prison in which they keep him locked up, I think that the plot detail with such modern stories is to achieve the location, and I think the keys are lost among so much technology, the key is Selene, otherwise use dynamite and those walls that have no magic or anything special will fall, that's why this plot developed in the present time with so much technology falls a little, in the film they use some discs that release a gas and explode, that is to say, so much armament power takes ahead structurally that prison and William, who is the first wolf, will definitely survive.

Regardless of the above, I really enjoy William, he is just a wild beast that cannot return to his human form, he is a slave of his genes and seeing how they weaken him suffering bullet wounds in horrifying quantities under an action scene in which Selene shines that reminds me of Lara Croft's character in Tomb Raider with two pistols defeating that being, that Primal Wolf.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

  3. The Scary But Excellent Performance Of Tony Curran In Underworld: Evolution (2006)@kemmyb1696d

    img_20211105_232351.jpg

It's ingenious that this month-long contest gives us an opportunity to write about any horror actor/actress whose performance left a mark on us.

When it comes to my kind of horror films, I have watched vampire/werewolf horror films more because of my delight in action movies and their badass stunts. For the purpose of this contest, my focus will be on actor Tony Curran who starred as Markus Corvinus of Underworld: Evolution (2006) film. He left a 'mark' on me by his very fearsome performance.

This film is one of the Underworld film series which comprise five films so far. It is an entertaining piece of Gothic mayhem as vampires and werewolves face off against each other in a slow-motion, fascinating action of bullets and blood.

The list of the five films are: Underworld (2003), Underworld: Evolution (2006), Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009), Underworld: Awakening (2012) and Underworld: Blood Wars (2016). I recommend you watch all five films to grasp the storyline and enjoy the series.

The Underworld: Evolution (2006) is a horror/fantasy film directed by Len Wiseman and I have serious respect for him as an action/sci-fi/horror movie director. He's just excellent at what he does!

    Synopsis

To understand the role Tony Curran played, it's important I give a short synopsis of the series. Alexander Corvinus, a very powerful immortal, had twin boys, one bitten by a bat and the other bitten by a wolf. Both boys changed and became a vampire and a lycan respectively. Alexander is depicted as the forefather of both vampires and werewolves (lycans) races.

Tony Curran starred as the father of Lycans, Markus Corvinus. It so happened that he had gone 'into sleep' centuries ago and was not due to wake. Due to some circumstances that occurred, a doctor was killed close to his coffin and the blood drifted into the coffin and he woke up before the scheduled time leading to mayhem and bloodshed.

    My Scream

Markus Corvinus is one fearsome character in this film and also one of the villains. The way he kills is not only scary but hair-raising and frightening! The day I watched the second installment in this series, I admit that the way the lycans transform at will without the aid of the full moon was terrifying for me.

    screenshot_20211105_231903.jpg

The transformation of Markus Corvinus into a big-sized, were-bat shaped entity with a round head and ugly, twisted face, and wide, big wings, was scarier! He is fast, bullets have no effect on him, super-strong and his prey does not make it alive whenever he pursues them.

While watching this film at night, unfortunately for me the power went out! I almost screamed. My heart beat so fast and I began to search for a flashlight. The fearsome images of Markus Corvinus kept appearing in my mind. Lol! By the time I got some light in the room, I calmed down and promised myself I would not watch this film again at night. Only during the day. I made sure to keep the light on when I went to bed that night!

    screenshot_20211105_232230.jpg

    screenshot_20211105_232039.jpg

I commend Tony Curran on an excellent performance because he interpreted the role of the father of lycans/villain perfectly and in a scary way such that he appeared unbeatable. Even Alexander Corvinus warned Selene, the lycan hunter/protagonist, that she is no match for the immortal father of lycans.

Towards the end of the film, Selene kills him but you will have to watch the film to know how she did it. I felt death was too good for Markus Corvinus because of the terrible things he did.

This is my entry to the CineTV Contest: The Best Of Horror | Show Me Your Best Scream hosted by @wiseagent. You are invited to participate.

Thank you for visiting my blog.
