  1. Vanilla Sky || a great Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz film (2001)@cute-cactus1420d

Have you seen Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, which was released in 2001? He was older than Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, which was released in 2022.

Of course, it was his accident in the Vanilla Sky movie that caused it.

Tonight I watched the film Vanilla Sky once again. There were two important reasons for this. Seeing Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz in the same film and the fact that the voice actor who dubbed Tom Cruise in Turkish for years had died.

When we watched Tom Cruise's films with the dubbing option, it was identified with his voice for us. The Mission Impossible series was one of the best examples of dubbing.

Penelope Cruz was perfect in terms of her physique and acting. Although Tom Cruise was more prominent in the film with his character David, it was a pleasure to watch the film for Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. My preference from the duo will always be Penelope Cruz.

There is more than one reason for this, but the most important one is that Penelope Cruz seems more attractive, intelligent and sexy to me when I evaluate her in terms of the opposite sex.

The film Vanilla Sky can be considered as a very complicated sci-fi option in terms of subject matter. I didn't have a clear idea of what was going on in the film until the last 15 minutes. Moreover, even though I had seen the film years ago, it still had the same mystery. In the last part, the whole story integrates with each other and the scenes that do not make sense make sense by themselves.

Even in the parts that are not fully understood, I can say that the film is successful in arousing curiosity about the progress of the film and keeping the audience in front of the screen. The fact that Tom Cruise, who played a rich and spoiled snob at the beginning, found himself in the middle of the drama story as the film progressed was the mystery of the film's gripping flow. After his accident, the mysterious scenes are so intertwined that I had the feeling of solving the events together with David.

And it is up to the last part of the film to solve the events, to make sense of the film from beginning to end. And the last part is the glue of the film because it connects the whole film.

51% The moments when he likened the 7 people on the board of directors of the company he owned 51% of the shares to 7 dwarfs and named each of them after the dwarfs were the most entertaining moments of the film, but not the best!

Because the best scene of the film was the scene where Penelope Cruz was seen in the way a man would want to see her! Think of it as the salt in the dish, the sugar in the coffee. lololol

If the film Vanilla Sky was made in 2022, I would say that it was ordinary in terms of scenario. Nowadays, there are quite a lot of films that use this type of reality and dream as a theme, and as an audience, we are no longer strange because the rapidly developing technology places it in our minds that these things are possible. But when I think that the film was made in 2001, the scenario is quite interesting and makes people think more about the future. Of course, it also triggers a sense of curiosity.

I watched the film in the past, I watched it again tonight and while I remembered some scenes, I had the feeling that I watched some of them for the first time. The time that has passed may have made me forget or I may have been busy with other work in the scenes I thought I had not watched.

For those who want a recommendation on watching/not watching the film, I can say that it is a great Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz film.

  3. Vanilla Sky: A Tom Cruise Film that doesn't feel like a Tom Cruise film@gooddream2938d

I am not a fan of Tom Cruise films for the most part because there are just too many of them. Sure, they are entertaining in a mindless way. However, with very few exceptions they are extremely predictable and follow the same Hollywood format of hero faces monumental task, hero faces a setback, hero rebuilds, hero nearly loses but in the end wins just barely. Vanilla Sky, despite making $100 million in the USA, hasn't been seen by most of the people I talk to. Many of them have never even heard of it.

Tom plays the role of David Aames, an extremely wealthy owner of a large publishing something or other. He lives an enviable life of luxury. He doesn't really need to work at the firm and leaves its running mostly to the board of directors while he just kind of does whatever. This isn't how the film starts out though.

The film begins with David (Cruise) in a prison cell being interviewed by a psychologist played by Kurt Russel. Aames is wearing a mask and I don't think I should reveal why as it is a major part of the film that gets revealed to you pretty early on.

The film also stars an absolutely stunning Penlope Cruz who plays David's love interest, Sophia.

as well as an absolutely terrifying Cameron Diaz who is David's slightly crazy ex-lover, Julie.

    • I never thought it would be possible to find Diaz so scary*

So what makes this film so great (for me) is probably because it is a psychological thriller and as the movie goes on a bit of sci-fi is introduced. However, telling you how would also be a bit of a massive spoiler. The movie doesn't take the usual predictible turns and at least for me, I couldn't see the ending coming. The movie is interesting the whole way through and I think that it shows a side of Tom's acting that we don't get to see very often. What I mean is that he actually is a pretty great actor, despite being a real-life nutjob.

See if you agree with me. I can't rate it too terribly high compared to all other movies but I personally believe it is one of Tom's best.

    I give this one a "worth watching" rating and a 6.5 / 10
