Hello everyone, Hive friends, fans of good stories, I hope you're all doing well! Today I want to talk a little about a pretty interesting series. Today I'll give you my opinions on: What We Do in the Shadows. Where do I start? This series is a real gem, a real gem, that takes the craziest aspects of vampires and mixes them with the most normal problems of everyday life in a way that refreshes your soul. Imagine vampires who don't cry about the past or anything like that, but are complete weirdos in the modern world, trying to do everything from cleaning the house to solving super weird supernatural fights, all as if it were a fake documentary! If you like series like The Office or Modern Family, but you like more unfiltered humor (think It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), then this series is for you!

Basically, the thing is about four really crazy characters who live together in a house in Staten Island. We have three of your typical vampires: Nándor the Relentless, Nadja, and Laszlo. And then there's Colin Robinson, who is an "energy vampire" who, instead of blood, sucks people's energy, boring them with conversations that will put you to sleep. Every time Colin Robinson comes on with his robotic voice and that knack for making people fall over with boredom, it's impossible not to burst out laughing... the character is so original and unique that you think the people who made the series spent centuries in endless work meetings looking for inspiration.

And speaking of characters, because, let's see, they are the best of the best! Nándor is like the leader of the group, although “leader” is a bit of a stretch, because the poor guy is more lost... watching him try to fit in these times is hilarious and sometimes even tender. Nadja is a hurricane, pure chaotic energy, unpredictable and perhaps one of the funniest characters in the entire series... her vibe with Laszlo, who is charismatic as hell, but also a complete lunatic, is some of the best, epic moments I swear. Oh, and let’s not forget Guillermo, Nándor’s relative, who lives with the hope (or torture) of one day being turned into a vampire... his relationship with Nándor is the funniest, full of touches of fine humor and a constant irony about the role he plays in that house.

The mockumentary format is another brutal move of this series, the camera follows these crazy people as if it were a real documentary, capturing moments like this, as if it were nothing, and interviews that make them feel super real... there's a magic to seeing these vampires who have been around for centuries complaining about the most normal problems while interacting with those who are recording them. And the way they ignore all the vampire rules to make it funny, that's great, it's such a fresh and original idea that it gives you the feeling that everything is happening live, as if you were spying in their house... something I really liked is how they handle the whole vampire thing, you know? Instead of using the usual clichés, What We Do in the Shadows makes fun of them, but with an intelligence and creativity that amuses you.

There are chapters that are crazy, like the one with the "trial" with the vampire council, which also has some special appearances that any vampire fan will love, and not to mention the epic fight with the werewolves, ridiculous as hell, it's that balance between homage and mockery that makes each chapter a surprise and a real pleasure. And the script and the dialogues, ufff!, another level, you can tell that those who wrote this love vampire stories, but they aren't afraid to laugh at them in the best way... the humor is daring, with swear words and super crazy moments, but everything feels natural, there are scenes that make you laugh out loud and phrases so good that you end up wanting to repeat them to everyone, I myself have said Nadja's phrases because they are those that stick with you, it is one of those series that you not only watch, but you live and want to share with all your friends.

One thing that makes this series special is that it’s a spin-off of the movie of the same name that came out in 2014, directed by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, not that you need to see the movie to get hooked on the series, but if you’re enjoying the series, I swear it’s totally worth checking out the original movie… the coolest thing is that, although they share the same universe, the series expands it with new characters and fresh situations, taking it to another level, but totally different! I was already looking forward to seeing what Waititi and Clement’s work was like, and I’ll tell you one thing, the series was really good, it exceeded my expectations by far! Since we're talking about technical stuff, let's see, it's not one of those productions that will blow your budget, but the special effects and how everything looks, the production design, are impeccable... the vibe of the environment, the setting, achieves that middle ground between the macabre and the ridiculous, with places that mix the gothic with the most normal of everyday life.

And here I have to stop for a moment to talk about the Spanish dubbing, it's a gem! It's not easy to adapt the humor of such a strange series, but here they excelled, they did it wonderfully, both the original and dubbed versions have their magic, so you can enjoy it in whatever language you want... something that made me think is that, although it's a comedy to laugh a lot, there are also moments when the characters are very human and that makes you really connect with them. Behind all the jokes and silliness, the series also touches on themes like loneliness, how one adapts to change, and feeling part of something. The relationship between Guillermo and Nándor, for example, has moments that touch your heart, genuinely... and although the series never gets too serious, those little touches of depth give it a plus that makes it even more interesting.

Maybe some of you are hesitant to watch this series because you find it too strange or because the humor isn't your thing, right? But tell me something, when was the last time you came across a series that made you laugh like crazy, think a little, and even get emotional at the same time? What We Do in the Shadows isn't your average comedy, not at all. It's a show that celebrates the absurdity of life, the beauty of friendship, and how great it is to not take everything so seriously. It's like being invited to the strangest and funniest family reunion in the world, where all the craziness is welcome... if you still haven't decided to give it a chance, I'll give you one more reason, the last one: I give it a 9/10.

The humor, the characters, the nods to vampire movies, and that perfect mix of horror and comedy make it one of the best series I've seen in years. But not everything is perfect, of course (sometimes the lighting is a bit dim or some jokes don't quite hit). Overall, the experience is super fun and engaging. It reminds us that even the monsters of the night can be incredibly human... and hilarious. But seriously, if you're looking for something relaxed, different, and that makes you laugh, this series is a great option. And well, that's all for today. Take care of yourselves, bye!

  2. Review "What we do in the shadows" final season , I'm sad 😌@genesishealthy495d

    Hello! 💙

The end of one of my favorite comedy series has come and on the one hand I can't deny that I'm a little sad because I really enjoyed it, but on the other hand I'm also happy that it had a very satisfying ending, even though to some extent predictable for these characters.

This last season ties up the loose ends left over from the previous seasons, and answers some questions, what happened to Guillermo's dream of becoming a vampire? what happened to Guillermo and Nandor's relationship? Why are they filming a documentary about vampires? It also takes us into exploring Guillermo's new life on a professional level, seeing his new dreams and goals, adding more depth and drama to the characters without the series losing its wit and humor.

Unfortunately I can not say that this was the best season and much less the funniest but nevertheless if it kept and I dare say that recovered the spark of the best seasons that in my consideration are the first and third, and although its ending to some extent is predictable is very satisfying. So if you want to see a series full of humor very similar to the style of “The office” I highly recommend this series.

    ¡Hasta la próxima, un abrazo!

    Separador.png

"All good things must come to an end" I can't stop thinking about this phrase from the moment I found out that the sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows would be the last, and even though the comedy inspired by Taika Waititi's iconic film doesn't have such a large fan base (especially if we compare it to other popular culture phenomena like The Office or Friends), it's undeniable that since its first year it was a breath of fresh air within the television landscape, a landscape that at least in terms of comedies has been a bit lacking in recent years.

    1000091821.jpg Source

It's no wonder, the idea of mixing the mockumentary format with supernatural creatures like vampires in the lead role was brilliant, especially if used as a framework to contrast our current society with the reality that these monsters that have been among us for years lived.

However, even though this idea feels like a diamond in the rough, not everyone could have executed it with such elegance, which is why we can only appreciate the ability of Jermaine Clement and the team of writers to surprise us and make us laugh year after year.

In fact, although I have had a bit of trouble catching up on series lately, amidst the laziness and daily worries of my adult life, I have always found spaces to reconnect with Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor and Guillermo, and I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it yet to give it a chance.

    1000091829.jpg

    1000091827.jpg

It is painful that after six years things have to end, but at the same time I remember with bitterness other examples of series that have not known how to die in time, and I am grateful that What We Do In the Shadows is able to close on a high note, relegating the continuation of its universe to other spin-offs that I am sure will be just as entertaining.

As for the content of the sixth season, there are still a couple of episodes left to be released, things are going well and I'm sure it will end the same way.

  4. What We Do In the Shadows - Season 4 (2022) review: Another banger, of course.@richardalexis1178d

p22198418_b_v13_aa.jpg Source All the screenshots in this post were talen directly from the series by me

    Separador.png

Although I don't think about or mention this show very often, What We do In the Shadows Season 4 is a perfect reminder of why it's one of the best modern comedies, a recognition that it rarely gets.

Presented as a kind of mockumentary clearly inspired by other more traditional sitcoms such as "The Office", What We do in The Shadows takes the promise of the film of the same name (Directed by Taika Waititi, who incidentally also plays a directing role). in this version) and plunges us into a world where vampires are real and we have direct contact with their day to day, or rather: their night to night.

Although there are multiple popular works that use this fantastical creature to build their narratives, I don't think there is an example where this idea is approached more freshly than here.

In WWDITS we follow a group of vampires who live on Staten Island, and, considering the many centuries they have been alive, they are constantly faced with the rapid changes of modern society to which they never seem to adapt comfortably.

The WWDITS comedy emerges as a direct consequence of this state of stagnation, where everything we usually see in our day-to-day life is regularly put under an archaic optic, and constantly contrasting a gothic, dark and violent aesthetic with boring urban neutrality. of the 21st century.

Nadja, Nandor, Lazlo, Colin and Guillermo are a group of fascinating characters, each one with very defined personalities, and very specific aspects that make them maintain a unique and hilarious chemistry, where basically any situation where they are placed has the potential. to be entertaining.

In the midst of an ocean of generic series that seem intent on repeating 3-4 monotonous ideas ad nauseam, WWDITS maintains a unique and extremely cynical approach, with short, easy-to-digest seasons and episodic elements that coexist seamlessly with a more linear plot.

Although her beginnings were always of quality, it is evident that as the years go by she finds herself a little more comfortable in her own skin, and she allows herself to experiment with increasingly ambitious ideas from a narrative point of view, all this without leaving aside his twisted vision of the slice or life that could have trapped us in the first place.

On this occasion, for example, we see Nadja's desperate attempts to create a nightclub for vampires, rather amusingly mixing the complications of an ordinary club (Keeping the accounts in order, managing your employees, etc.) with others of slightly more supernatural character (Getting humans to drink their blood, keeping them free from curses, etc).

What We Do in The Shadows has two fundamental pillars: the humorous aspect and its approach to the vampire myth, and at least so far both have been addressed in the best possible way.

Although its status is cult, it is easy for me to say that it is one of the best quality series, each performance, each set design, its music, photography, special effects, etc... Everything works in perfect harmony to deliver a product uninhibited and entertaining, and as a consequence I don't mind the idea of continuing to get more seasons over the years.

    Separador.png

    Screenshot_2023-04-07-13-33-45-324_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

    Screenshot_2023-04-07-13-32-00-613_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

What We Do in the Shadows: An Underrated Comedy 🦇@gigi81535d

Welcome to a new entry of my blog pretty Hive people!

There are too many movies and series that are underrated, that over time people forget about, or that never really got a high audience for a whole host of different reasons.

And these days I came across a series that I had seen 4 or 3 years ago, although it is not the best series and it is not entirely an original idea, it is great to pass the time and laugh a little.

I first saw the movie and I loved it, I really liked the idea of a fake documentary where they showed their lifestyle and how they interacted with each other, although the characters in the series are not the same as in the movie, I didn't dislike it at all.

The theme in the series is to observe their dull lifestyle in modern society and even tell us that there are other vampires living in society in a hidden way, something I like about this one is that they made several meetings of vampires and each one gave their touch.

One of my favorite characters is the so called "Energetic Vampire", I loved this idea of creating a different vampire, since he feeds on the vital energy of people, and he can be in the day and go out as if nothing, unlike the others, and the actor personifies him very very well, so I laughed a lot with his scenes.

It's not a series where you have to think so much and it doesn't have a very complicated plot so I can't take bad aspects out of it as such, the only thing I didn't like at all was the fact that in the movie the three main actors were other actors, and while I didn't dislike these, I feel that I liked the previous ones better.

Overall it is a fun and hilarious series, I would recommend watching the movie first and then start the series, I think it is a little underrated because while it is a comedy, this one has a different touch and without including situations or forced characters has a good balance.

I hope you liked it and I'll read you in the next one.

As someone who has spent a considerable portion of his life watching series, I don't think there is a genre of them that I appreciate as much as comedies... and I feel like I'm not the only one who thinks this.

    Captura de pantalla 2022-02-12 19.05.19.png

Although considering the subjective nature of humor, it is relatively easy to do "something" that makes "someone" laugh, we usually underestimate the effort required to create a series of high quality, there are many that are entertaining by definition, but few are really good.

I've recently been catching up on the third season of What We Do in the Shadows and I feel like in that humble piece of television it's pretty clear why it's one of the strongest sitcoms going.

    Captura de pantalla 2022-02-12 19.04.46.png

Created by Taika Waititi, WWDITS could be briefly defined as a mockumentary where we follow the lives of 4 vampires in present-day New York, based on a movie of the same name, the cornerstone of humor in WWDITS lies in the small stories that cleverly mix fish-out-of-water elements with dark, twisted, or comedic vampire lore.

The first season was wonderful and its sequel smartly doubled down, so what's left for season four?

    Captura de pantalla 2022-02-12 19.05.22.png

Although it retains its episode format and the simplicity of most of its conflicts, WWDITS knows how to put its characters in a very funny position that knows how to intelligently take advantage of the cliffhanger of the previous season. Nadja, Landor and Lazslo end up taking control of the vampiric council which leads to many crazy adventures.

The strength of this season is the growing confidence that its writers have with their own plot, including elements that develop chapter by chapter without isolating those who seek a more isolated and episodic experience.

    Captura de pantalla 2022-02-12 19.04.57.png

Everything else, of course, is still very neat: the direction is great, the writing is perfect, the atmosphere is so good that it doesn't make sense... in short, an excellent product from any technical and artistic aspect.

WWDITS plays with its horror elements very cleverly and it's hard not to have absolute faith that subsequent seasons (hopefully there are) will be just as good.

  7. What we do in the Shadows S3 - short opinion / krótka opinia@herosik1629d

    asssssssss.jpg

The series' third season, fortunately, improved after the IMO's less successful second season. There were more funny and creative jokes, a little more world-building, we got to know new characters, races and their magical skills. The thread with the mermaid and gargoyles was an interesting addition, because while the relations with the werewolves were predictable, the relationship with these three was something new for me. Correct me if I'm wrong (because as I said in the previous post, I don't know vampire lore, not even from the movie side), but vampires have any relationship with these creatures? In the sense, they are buddies of the stone monsters? Does the siren magic work on them? I know, an abstract question, but I wonder if these are more comedic references to their history or mythology. As for the show itself, I planned to write a longer review, but when I sat down to write it, I found that I couldn't really say much. I just got another portion of what I liked in the series, which creates, among others Taika Waititi. Lots of absurd, for some too vulgar or disgusting jokes and situations. In addition, a good development of what we have already seen. I buy it, I love such parodies, especially in the form of a documentary "Trailer Park Boys". If you like this series and are intrigued by what I write below, you can watch it on Hulu (outside of Poland) or HBO (In Poland + maybe in other countries where there is no D + yet).

"What we do in the shadows" tells the story of several vampires (and their servants) who live in one house. They are Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor, Guillermo and Colin Robinson - 3 real vampires and one energetic. Together, they form a bunch of losers, where the most competent person is who we least suspect of it. Nadja and her colleagues are degenerate, blasé, do not have a single kilogram of ambition, but many tons of expectations towards reality and laziness. Their lives are a parody of people's daily dilemmas, which are reinforced by being immortal. Attempts to cope with worse well-being, depression and the general hopelessness of everyday existence. Familiar, isn't it? If not from our backyard, it is from friends' reports or browsing the Internet. I recommend to all lovers of good and sharp humor, one of the best comedy series that I have seen in the last decade ... that in the end I will refer to one of the texts often repeated here. Maybe this term is too strong, so take the correction that I rarely watch such productions. Nevertheless, friends and internet reviewers are equally positive about it, so I assume that it is really good.

Ja to kupuję, uwielbiam takie parodie, zwłaszcza w formie dokumentu a'la "Trailer Park Boys". Jeśli lubicie ten serial i zaintryguje Was to, co napiszę poniżej, to możecie go obejrzeć na Hulu (poza Polską) lub HBO (W Polsce + być może w innych krajach, gdzie nie ma jeszcze D+).

"What we do in the shadows" to historia kilku wampirów (i ich sługi), które mieszkają w jednym domu.

  8. 'What We Do In The Shadows' Seasons 1 - 3: A few thoughts on an excellent show that thus far exceeds expectations@namiks1740d

    what-we-do-in-the-shadows-fx.jpg

It appears that good television shows are few and far between in the era of streaming services, where as one decent show is created and cancelled, another 10 terrible ones are greenlit only to suffer the same fate shortly after one or two seasons. While HBO are known more for keeping a small selection that don't often fall victim to this structure, I never had much faith in a television adaptation of the mockumentary of the same name by now-famous Taika Waititi.

Now airing its third season and already approved a fourth, the television series of What We Do In The Shadows has been a pleasant experience that has heavily expanded upon its original source material rather than simply being carried from it with a tight grip. Through this, the different characters and their arcs within the show are more ambitious, providing more context to this chaotic world while allowing for many laughs as a result of the talent behind the show's writing team.

As expected of a group of highy dysfuncational vampires living in modern day -- in attempt to obide by most of modern society's rules -- it isn't easy to fit in. The traditional vampire can only go outside at night, and is composed on many traditional methods of speaking and values having lived during many periods of time in a total of several hundred years. For a television show, these limitations of the general vampiric foundations could strangle opportunities to grow, however, What We Do In The Shadows carefully avoids it via two methods: the concept of a "familiar" in which a human dedicates their time to helping the vampires throughout their nightly, and daily, lives in expectation of too being given eternal life as a reward. And my personal favourite: Colin Robinson.

This particular character, played by Mark Proksch, displays the creative writing behind the show, and brings the question: why has nobody in the comedy world thought of this before? Colin Robinson is no ordinary vampire, but one that thrives by feeding upon the energy of others. His fanged teeth being the boring, the mundane, the nasal way of speaking in a gentle tone that sends people to sleep. The brilliance behind such a character allows for us to see the world outside of the dark, where vampires still roam and their actions still have consequences. Where a vampire's familiar will be out searching for worthy sacrifices to bring home to their masters.

Using the familiar Guillermo (played by Harvey Guillen), we've seen the growth of his character specifically. As he's grown to realise the manipulation of familiars as vampires use them by giving them the expectation of eternal life, which simply just never arrives. This frustation onscreen has given a few laughs, but pushed the show into this realm of: what is he now capable of? What's coming next? It's evident it aims to be used in one way or another to tie things up, but fortunately, there's no signs of exactly how. And this arc is by no means taking over the laughs and adventures that the show started off with.

Though, at the same time, we've started to receive episodes mostly dedicated to individual characters: Colin Robinson, many on Guillermo, and one on Lazlo. I expect we'll see a few more of these to loosen up the show's current structure and provide a bit of space between what's currently expected, and to provide a more personal experience with the characters as we see them take on personal challenges and attempt to deal with them. This isn't anything new in the world of television, as character development helps pave the way for both space and future developments as a whole.

Again, treading relatively thin on the available directions for the narrative, and to avoid limitations, the show gives us insight into the ways these modern vampires attempt to survive in this society, as they venture into things such as nightclubs, or even head to Vegas for a few nights; though we're also given very slight hints of the show pushing into certain narratives that could be used to wrap things up when necessary. Personally, such precautions are wise, and even in the show's third season where it feels as if the possibilities are still endless, we see a quick shift in responsibilities within our characters. They're growing up a bit despite their usual dysfuncational activities. Which brings me to question: when and where could this end? Will it remain strong? At this pace, I believe so and look forward to seeing how it unfolds.

I can't see the show overstaying its welcome, nor can I see myself enjoying the fact that the show might quickly come to an end. Its creativity and writing, and just incredibly enjoyable characters and cast make it a show that you'll want to rewatch and simply never end. But all good things do.

  9. [ESP-ENG] Review 🎬 What We Do in the Shadows@genesishealthy1744d

    Hello 💙

Today I want to bring you a review of a series that I consider by far wonderful, and with which I laughed a lot and guffawed, seriously you can not miss it if you want to spend a very enjoyable time. Of course this is perhaps not a series for everyone, you must be identified with the humor of the director Taika Waititi who in turn is one of the creators.

The series focuses on Lazlo, Nadja and Nandor and is told from the perspective of a reality show or rather vampire documentary where they constantly talk to the camera breaking the fourth wall. The three of them are vampires who come from the European continent and settled in New York 200 years ago and they tell us their stories and experiences.

A very important character is also Guillermo, a boy who is Nandor's relative and through him we see another face that is part of the vampire's life. Guillermo is there for his master for whatever he needs and he has been working for him for 10 years and he is motivated by the promise of becoming a vampire like him.

And not least is Collin Robinson, he is another vampire but of a very different species is an energy vampire, who can go out during the day and feeds on the energy of others (including vampires) boring them and being very annoying, and I must confess in particular is my favorite is one of the characters that for me has more story arc as he himself does not know what his origin or where exactly come from his powers.

This series is already in its third season and it just keeps getting better and better!

I leave you the trailer so you can take a look at it, you can find this movie on FX.

    ¡Hasta la próxima, un abrazo!

  10. Series - What We Do in The Shadows (2021) review: one of the best comedies right now.@richardalexis1755d

    Separador.png

When it comes to versatility there are few genres of series that feel as flexible as comedies, throughout my life I have seen an innumerable amount of projects that try to mix humor with many other styles: drama, action, science fiction ... and which brings us to this post: horror.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-09-07 21.57.16.png

    Captura de pantalla 2021-09-07 22.13.45.png

When I talk about "horror" in What we do in the Shadows I don't want to be misunderstood, it is not a series that seeks to terrify its viewers or shock them with a murky setting, quite the opposite: it uses these elements to tell a funny story and out of the ordinary. We follow the story of a group of vampires trying to survive in 21st century New York, with all that it entails.

Taking advantage of the recent premiere of the third season on FX, I wanted to take advantage of a couple of paragraphs to this great series created by the brilliant Taika Waititi (which also derives from a film of the same name) and that seems to go a bit unnoticed in the eyes of the mainstream public.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-09-07 22.15.25.png

Since its inception, What We do in the Shadows has been an incredibly consistent series, blending perfectly measured humor with a unique visual presentation where Gothic and Victorian aesthetics coexist with our modern society.

Starring a group of brilliant actors: Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Mark Proksch and the great Harvey Guillén, as well as a number of brilliant cameos from the likes of Nick Kroll, Mark Hamill and Taika himself, WWDITS is a show from its first episode and only improves its quality as the story progresses.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-09-07 22.02.53.png

The story is presented to us as a mockumentary and although it sounds quite cliché there are few projects that take advantage of this format so effectively, WWDITS definitely drinks a lot from comedies like Arrested Development or the Office but gives it a refined European touch that makes it feel unique.

There are many smart decisions that have led What We Do In The Shadows to be one of the most interesting comedies of our time, this is no small thing considering the wide variety of options that are presented to us among so many streaming platforms and sources in which which we can consume content.

  11. What we do in the Shadows mini review / What we do in the Shadows mini recenzja@herosik1767d

    What OKU.jpg

I first heard about this series (more specifically a Mockument production - a documentary fiction that focuses on satire - like the Borat movies and some productions of Sacha Baron Coen or "Trailer Park Boys") about 1.5 years ago. A few months ago my friend Krystian reminded me of him, so I decided to look for him. And I found it on HBO. I waited for the weekend, watched both seasons with my girlfriend and .... Say yes, I was initially delighted with the show, but after watching both seasons I'm a bit disappointed. I don't know if it's just me, because I haven't exchanged my observations with anyone yet, but I think that the second season was a bit weaker than 1. We have less bloody, disgusting and stupid jokes, but more parody of life vampires (we have jokes from their own existence and how their culture, pop culture and movies present them). While the latter were equally fun and inventive, I prefer the "Trailer Park Boys" type of humor.

    a1.png

The plot is about four vampires living in an old house on Staten Island. These are Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja and Colin Robinson - 3 old vampires from Europe (though not entirely, on the other hand, treat it as a simplification) and 1 energy vampire who, although having some power, is not treated by them as equal being. What are these powers? Bat conversion, the art of levitation, super strength and speed, hypnosis, control, partial immunity to blows and wounds, generally if they appeared in the DLC for Part 3 of "Witcher", you would not distinguish them from Regis. In general, all 4 are life failures - they didn't get anywhere, their life is about aimless existence, they make a lot of mistakes, they generally resemble TPB heroes. They also have a human servant (Guillermo) who caters to their every whim. In addition, the series features side characters - for example, Weasley Snipes known from "Blade", Taika Waititi (one of the directors, executive producer, co-writer), Tilda Swinton, Paul Reubens known from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", appears also some other cameo.

    A2.jpg

As you can easily guess from 1 paragraph, the series has an age rating of +18, so we'll see tits, blood, brutality, lots of curses, sex jokes. To sum it up in one sentence - "Trailer Park Boys as vampires". However, this is only part of the humor used by the creators of the series. We can find here many references to famous movies, series, books, culture and pop culture in general. Sometimes these are small references that fans of this genre will catch, but there are also those that will be understood by anyone who knows at least the more popular items - for example, the already mentioned half-vampire Blade. The creators also added a few of their own interpretations, or actually comments, to their lives and other monsters created by human imagination. I mean longevity, and thus - a different perception of the passage of time from ordinary people, the problem of hiding corpses, werewolves, trolls, or treating people as a secondary species. Speaking of which, we also have a travesty of toxic, perpetually complaining people. The episodes mostly dedicated to Colin are very fun - how he sucks energy out of people by being a mean and boring ass, or acts like a professional internet troll trying to piss off as many people as possible. When it comes to fantastic creatures, I will limit myself to a short comment, because I do not want to spoil your fun with spoilers - the duel between a vampire and a werewolf made me laugh continuously for 2 minutes.

As I wrote in paragraph 1, I liked the first season so much that I said on my Facebook account that it is an absolutely great series and it is only worth buying subscriptions to HBO for it. After watching the whole, I lowered my rating to very good, I no longer think that it is worth buying a monthly subscription only for this production, but ... It's worth watching it. This is one of the best productions of this genre, and if you like the subject of vampires, it is a must-have. I have different opinions on Taika Waititi's productions, some I like more, others less, but they are certainly well thought out and implemented. This director is great at juggling jokes and is equally good at using low-flying humor as well as that intended for a more demanding viewer. He can also strike with a strong and well-thought-out dramatic plot, which often provokes reflection, a generally very talented director. Although he is not directly responsible for all the episodes, he has gathered various creators around him who think in a similar way to him, and together they created a successful comedy. I rate it +8/10 and I hope I won't be disappointed with Season 3, which is coming to HBO soon. On this occasion, I will buy another monthly subscription, when HBO has all episodes available. Well, unless they have the same policy as Netflix, I will buy it as soon as they have their premiere.

Kilka miesięcy temu przypomniał mi o nim mój przyjaciel Krystian, więc postanowiłem go poszukać. Choć te drugie były równie zabawne i pomysłowe, to jednak preferuję typ humoru w klimacie "Trailer Park Boys".

Znajdziemy tu wiele odniesień do znanych filmów, seriali, książek, generalnie kultury i popkultury.

  12. What We Do in The Shadows: che delizioso mockumentary! - part 2@serialfiller2077d

  13. What We Do in The Shadows: che delizioso mockumentary!@serialfiller2078d

What We Do in The Shadows appartiene sicuramente a questa categoria, nonostante sia una serie giovane e con all'attivo solo 2 stagioni.

  14. What We Do in the Shadows Review@filotasriza32251d

What We Do in the Shadows is a 2019 comedy series about vampires and how they live in 21 century. Season 1 that came out during 2019 had 10 episodes, each one of them from 20 to 30 minutes long. Also a couple of weeks ago the season 2 started, which will also have 10 episodes but as of now that i am writing this review only 3 of them are out! (in a couple of hours the 4 one will be out as well!)

    Plot

In a big house located in Staten Island we get to meet 4 vampires living together for over 100 years. One of them is Nandor who was once a fierce warrior of the Ottoman Empire that has killed many and also had way too many wives. Till now he keeps his belief about how cool he is and also has a "familiar" that always mistreats. A familiar is basically a human that do whatever the vampire or "master" tells him from cleaning to finding virgins (i know that's hard :p) with a goal to become vampire as well when his master deem so.

In the mansion there is also a couple, Laszlo and Nadja which really love each other and stuff :P Those 3 are the typical vampires with their own backstories, they can turn into bats, use mind-control, have extraordinary raw power among other cool and tricky things.

But there is also one more vampire and i dare to say, a brand new species that all of you may have come across once in your life. Yes People this vampire lives among us and can go out during daylight! His name is Colin Robinson and he is an energy vampire!

What does an energy vampire do you may wonder? Well it doesn't suck blood like all the over vampires but instead it sucks your energy but in a funny way. He is that type of co-worker that talks about boring and boring things all time. The more you get bored and tired the more energy he gets from you. Therefore he drains your energy out by make you feel dead of boredom!

    Why to Watch It

Except the fact that it's a comedy with vampires, the graphics are actually good and we get to see way too many "known cliche" about vampires, werewolves etc etc presented in a funny way. There is also one main plot behind this show which i am not gonna reveal much now, but there is a very old and strong vampire that gave them the task to conquer the land they are on!

Furthermore, even though they live so many years they can't seem to be that adaptive to the whole era so it's really funny how they interact with other people and how they go out dressed like!

There is also one pretty awesome episode (episode 9 if i am correct) that is absolutely amazing. If you have watched other vampire films you gonna definitely love this one. Just imagine that the average rating per episode is 8.1 and this one has 9.4!
