I am falling in love with this kind of productions not because their male protagonists are beautiful and attractive, but because their dialogues are authentic, full of meaningful content for whoever watches them, that even if you are not looking for it, it makes you reflect.

This series premiered in March of this year 2025, I saw it in the month of its premiere by chance, as I passed by just as my brother was watching the first chapter and I was struck by the interest he had, so I stopped to watch. After this long introduction I will tell you about Si la vida te da mandarinas, it is the story of a girl who was born in the 50's, she was the daughter of a woman who was dedicated to diving without any equipment other than her lungs to get some species of mollusks or species under the sea, this girl was the oldest of three brothers and always lived in fear of losing her mother because of the deep dives and the time she spent submerged, hating the sea. Her mother, with a strong character, was hard and indifferent to her, it seemed that she did not love her when in fact it was the opposite, with this attitude she tried to keep her daughter away from her father, who had already passed away, so that she could have a better life with more opportunities, but this never happened, the mother was the provider of the home and supported her children with her work and a husband who was not good for much, getting sick and dying at an early age.

Esta serie se estrenó en marzo de este año 2025, la vi en el mes de su estreno por casualidad, ya que pasé justo cuando mi hermano estaba viendo el primer capítulo y me llamó la atención el interés que él tenía, así que me detuve a mirar. Si la vida te da mandarinas tiene 4 episodios confirmados por 4 capítulos cada episodio es una estación del año haciendo referencia a las épocas de nuestras vidas, que se inicia en primavera donde todo es hermoso, lleno de flores y colores, aquí somos jóvenes con ímpetu y nos dejamos llevar por el amor romántico, luego viene la época de invierno en la serie y los protagonistas vivieron cosas duras y mucho dolor. Pasado ese episodio me pareció estar en verano, aquí las cosas se calman, hay estabilidad para luego finalizar en otoño, donde las hojas se caen y las canas salen, las fuerzas físicas disminuyen y se recoge la cosecha. En Netflix donde fue transmitida, colocaron los capítulos poco a poco, cuando comencé a verla el primer día me vi dos capítulos después uno por día porque terminaba tan cansada de todas las emociones que me hacía sentir, que no podía continuar, a veces si quería, pero también deseaba procesar cada capítulo, lloré muchas veces, se me salían las lágrimas a ver su sufrimiento y también reí de sus buenos momentos, sin duda sentí que esta serie estaba basada en la historia de alguien real, que no era ficción lo que veía y aunque su género es de drama y no es autobiografía parecía ser la vida de cualquier persona, porque todos pasamos por lo que vivieron los protagonistas, es una historia tan sencillamente común y extraordinaria que te identificas con ella.

Luego de esta larga introducción te cuento de qué trata Si la vida te da mandarinas, es la historia de una niña que nació en los años 50, era la hija de una mujer que se dedica a bucear sin ningún equipo más que sus pulmones para conseguir algunas especies de moluscos o especies debajo del mar, esta niña era la mayor de tres hermanos y siempre vivió con miedo de perder a su mamá por las inmersiones profundas y por el tiempo que pasaba sumergida, odiando al mar. Su madre de carácter fuerte se mostraba ante ella dura, con indiferencia parecía que no la quería cuando en realidad era todo lo contrario, con esa actitud buscaba alejar a su hija para que se fuera con la familia su papá, que ya había fallecido y así tuviera una mejor vida con más oportunidades, pero esto nunca pasó, la madre era la proveedora del hogar y mantenía con su trabajo a sus hijos y a un marido que no servía para mucho, enfermando y muriendo a temprana edad.

Y hago mención de las clases sociales porque precisamente este es un punto importante en toda la serie, la historia trata del amor en toda sus expresiones, amor de madre, amor de los hijos, amor de pareja, todos esos sentimientos de amor se hacen fuertes y resistentes dentro de las adversidades por un único factor El dinero, o la falta de este, que es el causante de todo el sufrimiento de los personajes de esta historia, de allí el título que indica si la vida te da mandarinas las tomas, en mi cultura hay un refrán popular que reza si la vida te da limones haces limonada. El dinero es un factor determinante en la felicidad y quien diga que el dinero no es importante miente, cuánto sufrimiento se evitará en las familias si existiera el dinero que hace falta para mantener la salud, para sentir tranquilidad, para simplemente disfrutar de la vida.

La vida de esta niña, que no recuerdo los nombres de los personajes por ser algo complicados, estuvo bendecida de alguna manera, porque si bien es cierto que perdió el amor de su madre, desde pequeña había ganado el amor de un niño que años después se convirtió en su esposo, que era el hombre perfecto incluso en las redes después de la serie, circularon muchos memes que decían que el esposo perfecto si existía y mostraban la imagen del esposo.

La niña huérfana que ahora es una mujer casada, siempre tuvo una pasión desde niña quería ser poetisa, e ir a la universidad, pero no tenía los medios, y le llegó la primavera y se casó, tuvo hijos y ahora sus sueños fueron trasladados hacia sus hijos. En un momento terminé de ver los episodios que estaban publicados, y leí una reseña en esta comunidad, que sin querer daba un spoiler grandísimo de los capítulos que yo no había visto, pero eso me hizo dar cuenta que ya habían actualizado la parrilla y estaban los nuevos capítulos. Sobre eso puedo decir que la protagonista sufrió el dolor más grande que puede vivir una persona, y está parte dio inicio a la temporada de invierno, donde todo es nublado, oscuro y triste.

Es aquí donde los esposos se hacen fuertes y toman decisiones duras, ya no se trataba de ellos dos, sino de sus hijos, en esta etapa recordé a mis propios padres cuando yo estaba pequeña, y las cosas que tuvieron que hacer y sacrificarse por mí 😪😭. Una vez que sus hijos crecieron por fin parecía que todo mejoraría, llegaron nuevos proyectos, mudanzas, y problemas de hijos adolescentes, pero yo diría que esta parte fue la más feliz de los esposos, cuando estaban entre sus 50 y 60 años.

A partir de aquí, la narración en off no era solo de parte de la madre, sino de la hija mayor que a través de su experiencia contaba cómo veía la vida, y con el recurso de flashback hacia las veces de ir al pasado para conocer la historia de sus padres, entonces se intercalaba la voz de la madre y a veces la de la hija, al principio esto me confundió un poco, pero luego entendí por qué la dirección hacia eso, se trató de una transición de la madre a la hija en la narración de la historia, esta hija que representa la tercera generación de la serie, terminó siendo coprotagonista, ya que vimos su crecimiento, su preparación académica y su desarrollo como profesional y persona, incluso se casó y también formó su familia, donde sufrimos sus desamores y encuentro con el amor.

Espero no haber confundido con mi reseña y motivarte a verla si aún no lo has hecho. Su final quedó abierto y es posible que hagan una segunda temporada que por supuesto veré, y si no la sacan es posible que en un futuro la repita, porque es una serie que te enseña el valor de las cosas que no tienen precio, afortunados aquellos que gozan de tener en sus vidas el amor incondicional, es una historia dramática, pero no es pesada de verla, si eres sensible tal vez botes algunas lágrimas, también hay mucho humor, y valores de todo tipo, la recomiendo para todo la familia, es una obra de arte que hoy después de varias semanas pude encontrar las palabras para compartir mi sentir sobre esta serie, no quise profundizar en los personajes porque me extendería muchísimo, gracias por llegar al final de mi publicación y recuerda que si la vida te da mandarinas…. véndelas, cómelas, regalarlas, pero haz algo con ellas, disfruta de los procesos y agradece.
