Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share another day in my life at school. This week we’re celebrating the school’s 47th anniversary, so it’s usually a pretty busy week for both teachers and students—and our Visual Arts Workshop couldn’t be left out. I have to admit that we’ve had very little time—not enough class time to put together a larger, “up to par” exhibition, at least not one like the ones they’re used to. However, I didn’t want the kids to miss out on participating. It was also a school requirement, since all of us had to be present as members of the Culture and Extracurriculars department.

Last year, the children put on an anniversary exhibition, for which they had to create a drawing or painting related to the school: a portrait of Miguel Otero, an iconic object like a pen representing writing, the owl that is part of CIMOS, etc. That was a very special occasion because it was the first time, and the children themselves helped me set it up. So this year, considering that we didn’t have much time, we decided to recreate the school’s iconic owl. The children used the reference image, while some of the more daring ones went for a different interpretation—and some even depicted the school’s iconic little owl. I’m surprised to see how last year’s students are becoming a bit more confident and understand some of the concepts we covered in previous classes. It’s nice to know that certain concepts have really taken hold. I’ll leave you with the students’ work, which they’re very proudly showing off. Other students also brought in past assignments, like the marine-themed piece with its little fish. Without further ado, thank you very much for stopping by.
