Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today, I’m sharing a glimpse into another day in my life. I’d like to tell you about the final day of the anniversary week held at my school. The Miguel Otero Silva International School recently celebrated 47 years of service; throughout the week, various activities were organized to honor both the institution and the man himself, Miguel Otero Silva. The students filled the central courtyard with numerous drawings paying tribute to the school and to Miguel Otero. Among these were works by the students in my Visual Arts Workshop. While this project was smaller in scale than those we’ve done in the past, the goal was simply to create something special for this occasion.
The final day of the celebrations featured a series of truly incredible and beautiful performances, organized by the Cultural and Extracurricular Coordination team—the department where I work. Teachers from every specialty area worked incredibly hard to prepare their students for the day’s presentations; the young people involved are truly talented. I didn’t have a direct role in the performances themselves—my contribution was limited to the art exhibition—so all the credit goes to my colleagues. The event kicked off with the Theater and Public Speaking Workshop, where instructor Aibis presented her young actors, who delivered an excellent speech about who Miguel Otero Silva was. I spotted one of my own students among them, and I was so proud—she did a fantastic job; she’s clearly in her element!
Next, the Ballet Workshop took the stage. Instructor Ana shared a few words before the performance of *Giselle*—it was absolutely beautiful. The piece was quite substantial, and every second was well worth watching. Following that, instructor Fran from the Music Workshop got us all singing and dancing. A trio of students performed the *gaita* song "Sin Rencor," and then a larger group of students joined in to perform the *calypso* piece "Guayana es." Finally, teacher Gabriela and her dance group took the stage and got everyone moving with their performance of "Pajarillo." Everything was truly incredible—kudos to my colleagues! To wrap things up, we sang "Happy Birthday" at the school; the children were absolutely bursting with excitement (hahaha)! They were shouting, jumping around, and darting here and there—they were just so happy. By the way, CIMOS now has an official anthem, and I’ll be posting a video of that soon. Thanks so much for stopping by!
