Las Crónicas de los Silverbloggers - Prompt #19 - Un día para recordar
Aunque el mundo haya insistido en muchas oportunidades que la amistad verdadera no existe yo doy fe que eso es falso, porque desde hace 31 años he conservado la amistad más hermosa con mis compañeros Rodulfo, Raquel y Xiomary. Ellos son 3 compañeros que me regaló la vida en un momento en que me encontraba más sola que nunca.
Although the world has often insisted that true friendship doesn’t exist, I can attest that this is not true, because for the past 31 years I have maintained the most beautiful friendship with my friends Rodulfo, Raquel, and Xiomary. They are three friends that life gave me at a time when I felt lonelier than ever.
En el año 1995 me vine de mi pueblo a Caracas, la capital del país. Aquí me vine hace 31 años y comencé la aventura de mi vida para convertirme en policía. Desde el día cero del curso me vi rodeado de unas personas muy bonitas, que me brindaban mucho cariño, pero entre esas siempre4 destacaron estas personas, en especial Rodulfo, quien con sus ocurrencias se me fue metiendo en el corazón y me hizo pasar los mejores meses de mi vida.
In 1995, I left my hometown for Caracas, the country’s capital. I came here 31 years ago and began the adventure of my life to become a police officer. From day one of the course, I found myself surrounded by wonderful people who showed me so much affection, but among them, these individuals always stood out, especially Rodulfo, whose wit gradually won my heart and made those months the best of my life.
Por eso entre tantos días especiales que hoy les puedo contar sobre un día muy especial que nunca quiero olvidar. Se trata del reencuentro que tuve después de 12 años de no ver a estas lindas personas.
Una cosa es hablar por teléfono y otra cosa muy distinta es verse en persona, poderse abrazar, reír, hablar.
That’s why, among so many special days, today I want to tell you about a very special day that I never want to forget. It’s about the reunion I had after 12 years of not seeing these wonderful people.
It’s one thing to talk on the phone, but it’s something else entirely to see each other in person—to be able to hug, laugh, and talk.
Hoy quiero dedicar especialmente este post a Rodulfo, quien ha demostrado ser un guerrero en todos los sentidos. Rodulfo es de esas personas que ha tenido que luchar en la vida para salir adelante, fue un hijo rechazado por su madre, criado por la abuela, tuvo que trabajar desde niño, se vino a Caracas para conquistar un sueño, lucho contra viento y marea para estudiar y sacar su carrera de abogado y como si fuera poco un día cuando a lo mejor creía que todo iba bien, sus riñones dejaron de funcionar y por esa situación y la situación del país Venezuela, se tuvo que despedir de su vida, sus cosas, su familia para irse a Colombia donde podía recibir el tratamiento medico (Diálisis) necesario para alargar sus días.
Today I want to dedicate this post especially to Rodulfo, who has proven himself to be a true warrior in every sense of the word. Rodulfo is one of those people who has had to fight in life to get ahead; he was a son rejected by his mother, raised by his grandmother, had to work from childhood, came to Caracas to pursue a dream, fought against all odds to study and earn his law degree, and as if that weren’t enough, one day when he might have thought everything was going well, his kidneys stopped working. Because of that and the situation in Venezuela, he had to leave behind his life, his belongings, and his family to go to Colombia, where he could receive the medical treatment (dialysis) necessary to extend his life.
Por esto y por muchas cosas mas Rodulfo es para mi un ejemplo a seguir, porque no se ha dejado vencer en la vida, porque no tomó el camino fácil que mucho en su situación han decidido tomar, droga, suicidio, malos pasos, entre otros.
For this reason and many others, Rodulfo is a role model to me, because he hasn’t let life get the better of him, because he didn’t take the easy way out that so many in his situation have chosen—drugs, suicide, bad choices, among others.
Rodulfo brinda alegría a todo el que se le arrime, es de esos que disfrutan cada día que Dios nos regala, aquí podría quedarme hablando montones de él, nuestra historia, nuestros momentos vividos, pero vaya seguir con lo que hoy me trajo aquí.
Este día que les cuento fue gracias a que Rodulfo en el 2022 pudo venir a visitarnos, eso fue increíble, nuestros corazones se alegraron y apenas supimos de su llegada armamos la idea para encontrarnos en un lugar bonito de Caracas.
Rodulfo brings joy to everyone he meets; he’s one of those people who enjoys every day God gives us. I could go on and on here about him, our story, and the moments we’ve shared, but I’ll move on to what brought me here today.
The day I’m telling you about happened because Rodulfo was able to come visit us in 2022—that was incredible. Our hearts were filled with joy, and as soon as we heard he was coming, we came up with the idea to meet up at a beautiful spot in Caracas.
Solo les puedo decir que la pasamos increíble, reímos a montón, disfrutamos de su compañía, recordamos todas sus locuras y al despedirnos le deseamos lo mejor del mundo.
Todos esperamos que algún día Rodulfo pueda regresar, que Venezuela consiga la estabilidad en todos los sentidos, que tengamos un sistema de salud digno para que ningún venezolano se tenga que irse a otro país en busca de un hospital.
All I can say is that we had an amazing time, we laughed a lot, enjoyed his company, reminisced about all his crazy antics, and when we said goodbye, we wished him all the best in the world.
We all hope that one day Rodulfo will be able to return, that Venezuela will achieve stability in every way, and that we’ll have a decent healthcare system so that no Venezuelan has to go to another country in search of a hospital.
Hay muchos días que deseo repetir en mi vida, pero ese día lo quiero repetir una y otra vez, quiero saber que mi amigo esta cerca, que nos podemos reunir todos cada vez que queramos.
Por eso te invito a disfrutar la vida, disfruta cada momento, disfruta las personas que quieres.
There are many days I wish I could relive, but that day I want to relive over and over again; I want to know that my friend is close by, that we can all get together whenever we want.
That’s why I invite you to enjoy life—enjoy every moment, enjoy the people you love.
