¡Hola amigos lectores!

Hello, readers! I'm still reading my complete edition of The Chronicles of Narnia, a book that contains all the books in this children's series. Now it's time for the third one: The Horse and His Boy.

In this story, we meet Shasta, a young boy who is the son of a fisherman willing to sell him to a Tarkinian general. In his attempt to escape his fate, he stumbles upon the general’s warhorse in the stable. The horse speaks to him and explains that he is a talking horse from the magical land of Narnia, who was taken away from there when he was very young, and that his dream is to return. So together, they set out on a mission to reach Narnia. In the middle of their journey, they meet a young Tarkinian princess who is also fleeing to Narnia with her talking mare. The four of them will embark on a great adventure and face unimaginable dangers that will test their faith.

I feel like every book in this series gets better and better. I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting to read here, but I was delighted. I thought it was a really good story—and one of the most mature ones so far. It made me laugh a lot, but it also made me angry because there are some despicable characters with outdated views about women.

I was surprised by how closely it mirrors real-life events, especially considering it’s a fantasy series, and, well, the religious aspect is still very much present. This time, the main characters are Shasta, Aravis, and the talking horses, Bree and Hwin. I absolutely loved Bree; I found her attitude—so vain for a horse—really entertaining.

Edmund, Susan, and Lucy also appear briefly, but they are part of the story, and we can see just how brave they are and how well they fight in battle. I found the story very gripping; it offers several interesting insights into the customs of the Tarkins and their beliefs. This was the aspect that outraged me the most: they call the people living in the free territories—such as Narnia and Archenland—“barbarians,” but to me, they are the real barbarians, as this book clearly demonstrates.

Of course, Aslan was also involved—he kept sticking his paws in here and there to guide the characters toward their destiny. I really liked one of the things he said about how it was up to each person to tell their own story, and not that of others. That’s what happened in the book—it’s told in such an incredible way that we see the events a character is going through, while the other is off-page, but then we return to that character, and somehow we come to understand what the other one was going through at the same time. Each character is revealed only what they need to know.

I'm having a wonderful time and am very happy with my reading of the series. I'm enjoying it immensely, and I think it came into my life at just the right time. I can't help but recommend it because I think it's brilliant. I'm going to read some other books I have on my to-read list, but I'll be picking up the next book in the series soon.
