🌸 Ladies of Hive Contest #307: Figuring things out as we go [ES/EN]

Hello, dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you're all doing great. I'm stopping by today to take part in this week's questions, with topics suggested by @merit.ahama.

What is one thing you feel like a proper adult should confidently know how to do, but you’re still figuring it out as you go? How do you usually handle it when it comes up? Has it ever led to a funny, stressful, or eye-opening experience?

I think there are a lot of things about being an adult that I still struggle with. Like having conversations on the phone—I usually avoid that whenever I can. Sometimes I choose certain services because they prefer to communicate via text rather than calling you, and I have a couple more examples like that. It also happens with video calls and those sporadic interactions with new people where I feel like I’m coming across as silly, but it’s only at the beginning—afterward, I calm down. In any case, I have a hard time taking that first step, and I get really nervous before doing it, but afterward, it’s just a funny little story.

Also, when dealing with doctors, I realize as I leave the office that I didn’t clear up all my doubts and there are things I didn’t quite understand—or I was too embarrassed to ask—and it makes me feel bad to think that I should be more mindful of reacting in time. It all worked out one way or another in the end, but it would be great to have that moment of clarity from the start to avoid future mishaps.

Well, in all those typical adult situations where I sometimes find myself feeling small and doubting my ability to handle things on my own—whether it’s hiring a service, making major purchases, or just doing normal adult things. I think the main problem is that, at 33, I’m still figuring out how to be an adult; I don’t think there’s a manual for it, and everyone deals with it as best they can. Sometimes it’s fun, and other times it’s stressful, but I’ll figure it out as I go along.

If you had a completely free, solo Saturday with an unlimited budget, what are the three things you will definitely do?

What a fun idea. I think we should all be able to enjoy this perk at least once in our lives, hahaha. The first thing I’d do is head to a bookstore and buy as many books as I want without spending a single cent—everything for free. It’s literally my dream. Just this one wish alone would make me completely happy.

Since I only have one day to do this, I think I’d like to buy a plane ticket and spend the day exploring a province in my country. I’d really like to visit San Luis or Jujuy, which have beautiful valleys and mountains. I’d get there quickly by plane and could go on a few tours before heading back.

And as a third option, I guess I’d like to visit all those places I don’t get to see because I can’t afford them. I also have a new recurring fantasy: going somewhere with lots of stuffed animal claw machines and playing them just for the sheer pleasure of trying to win as many stuffed animals as possible without thinking about the money I’m spending, hahaha. I’ve never been able to win one, so it’s something I still need to do.
