¡Hola amigos cinéfilos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi reseña acerca de la película Buscando a Emily. Una comedia romántica bastante interesante a su manera.
Hello, movie lovers! I'm stopping by today to share my review of the movie Finding Emily. It's a romantic comedy that's quite interesting in its own way.
Trama - Plot
La historia sigue a un joven llamado Owen que un día, mientras trabajaba en un bar, conoce a una chica con la que establece un vínculo, pero esta se tiene que ir y antes de hacerlo Owen le pide el número de teléfono, ella se lo anota, pero al otro día se da cuenta que le falta un número. Así que se embarca en la misión de dar con ella aunque solo sepa su nombre, Emily, y la Universidad donde estudia. En el transcurso de descubrir su paradero empieza a contactar con varias emilys, y hasta hace amistad con una de ellas que lo va a ayudar a encontrar a la Emily que tanto está buscando.
The story follows a young man named Owen who, one day while working at a bar, meets a girl with whom he forms a bond. But she has to leave, and before she does, Owen asks for her phone number. She writes it down for him, but the next day he realizes a digit is missing. So he sets out on a mission to find her, even though all he knows is her name—Emily—and the university where she studies. As he tries to track her down, he begins contacting several women named Emily, and even befriends one of them who will help him find the Emily he’s been searching for.
Reseña - Review
Quise ver esta película porque la pintaban como una muy buena comedia romántica y ustedes saben que yo vivo por este género. La película me gusto, me parece entretenida, pero en términos de películas de este género me parece que vi mucho mejores. De todos modos, es una película genial para desconectar un poco y entregarse a la locura de encontrar a las emilys. También es una trama divertida, tengo que reconocer que me reí bastante, pero no dejó de parecerme un poco tonta por momentos.
I wanted to see this movie because it was touted as a really good romantic comedy, and you know I live for this genre. I liked the movie—I found it entertaining—but when it comes to movies in this genre, I think I’ve seen much better ones. Anyway, it’s a great movie to unwind a bit and get swept up in the madness of finding the Emilys. It’s also a fun plot—I have to admit I laughed quite a bit—but it still seemed a little silly to me at times.
Tenemos a esta Emily que se hace su amiga, que estudia psicología y justo su tema de investigación es el apego. Y es lo que percibe que siente Owen por esta chica, así que lo usa como objeto de estudio sin su consentimiento, él de verdad cree que ella lo está ayudando de manera desinteresada, pero tiene sus propios motivos para hacerlo. Es más, hasta en un momento las cosas le estaban saliendo muy mal a Owen y todo fue por culpa de las meteduras de pata de Emily. No me gustó eso, aunque va a tener su momento de reivindicación.
There’s this girl named Emily who becomes his friend; she’s studying psychology, and her research topic just happens to be attachment. She senses what Owen feels for this girl, so she uses him as a subject of study without his consent. He genuinely believes she’s helping him selflessly, but she has her own reasons for doing it. What’s more, at one point things were going really badly for Owen, and it was all because of Emily’s blunders. I didn’t like that, although she’ll have her moment of redemption.
Al final tampoco tuvo tanto romance, quiero decir, es obvio que él estaba dejándose llevar por una fantasía, una conexión de un instante, mientras buscaba a esta chica empezó a surgir la amistad con la otra Emily y sí, el romance viene más por este lado. Aunque tampoco lo sentí tan genuino y real, lo vemos construyéndose, pero más de parte de ella. No sentí que él de verdad se hubiera fijado en ella sino hasta el final. No me convencieron tanto en este sentido, pero ya les digo que me pareció una muy linda película para disfrutar.
In the end, there wasn’t that much romance anyway. I mean, it’s obvious that he was getting carried away by a fantasy, a fleeting connection. While he was looking for this girl, a friendship began to develop with the other Emily, and yes, the romance comes more from that side. Although I didn’t feel it was all that genuine or real either—we see it developing, but mostly on her part. I didn’t feel like he had really noticed her until the very end. They didn’t quite convince me in that regard, but I’ll tell you—I thought it was a really sweet movie to enjoy.
Por momentos tiene algunas escenas ridículas propias de este tipo de comedias románticas, y los protagonistas, a pesar de ser universitarios, se siguen comportando como adolescentes. Pero ya les digo, es una buena opción para ver algo relajante y sin mucho drama.
At times, it has some ridiculous scenes typical of this kind of romantic comedy, and the main characters, despite being college students, still act like teenagers. But I'll tell you, it's a good choice if you want to watch something relaxing without too much drama.
