¡Hola Chicos!
Hi everyone!
A new week of classes was beginning. It had started raining that morning, and I really wanted to just stay home and sleep. However, I had a responsibility to fulfill, and that’s where discipline kicked in for me.
I started getting ready, and that’s when messages began coming in asking if I was going to hold class. The reason for the inquiries was that it was a public holiday in Cabimas—celebrating the Virgin of the Rosary—but since we live in a different municipality where the day isn't observed, I hadn't realized it.
Even though it was a holiday, it was still technically a workday, so I decided to go ahead with the class. Plus, two new students were starting that day, so off we went to Lakrearte.
I had received a worried message from one of the representatives mentioning that the roads were flooded, and she sent a photo that looked quite chaotic.
As it happened, the vehicle I was in drove down that very street, and I could see that there was indeed water, but the worst of it had already passed.
So, I took this photo to share with the group so they would feel more confident about taking their children to class.
I got off the bus and headed to a nearby supermarket to buy some paints and a snack for myself.
When I arrived at the venue, I realized a lady was waiting for me; she was my new crochet student. I hadn't seen any photos of her, which is why I didn't recognize her right away.
I arrived just as the class was starting and apologized for the delay; it had been a bit of a struggle to catch a ride that day due to the holiday and the rain. When I mentioned where I lived, she said, "We were on the same bus." 😂
It was funny because, since I didn't know her, I had no idea she was my new student; plus, because I had stopped at the supermarket first, I hadn't noticed she was heading to the same place.
So, we started the class, and the great thing was that—even though she had no prior experience with knitting or crochet—she picked up the technique quite quickly.
In the process my other students arrived and we started working on our first Halloween activity. I gave them alternatives for this activity since I have different students and not all of them like such "scary" topics.
Each one chose what best suited their taste and began to work on their works. They were all looking great.
By the end of the class, some managed to finish while others were left halfway through, but they’ll be able to complete their spooky creations next time. I’ll show you how they turned out later. I plan to do several Halloween-related activities this month.
