¡Hola Chicos!

Hi everyone!

As I mentioned in my previous post, two weeks ago my son was selected as one of 40 scholarship recipients for a special program at the Kenneth's Institute, where they offer English classes.

The scholarship covers all 16 levels of the course, and this has been some of the best news we’ve received in recent weeks—because, as you know, knowing English opens so many doors, especially when it comes to career opportunities.

Before class, I bought my son an ice cream to celebrate this achievement and the new beginning in his life. We arrived at the location ten minutes before the scheduled start time.

There were several other kids there, all looking quite excited and nervous. I stayed with my son to hear the instructions being given, and once everything got underway, I planned to run some errands, taking advantage of the fact that I was near the town center.

We had to wait nearly half an hour before they finally let us—the few representatives present, along with the students—go inside.

We were able to witness the welcome talk and see everyone receive their supporting materials, which were included as part of the course benefits. Afterward, I said goodbye to my son and headed off to my first stop.

I needed to buy some fabric for a few commissions I’d received, so I headed over to the shop—which I call "the castle"—and, after looking over the available colors, had the fabric cut and paid for it.

Afterward, I went to the shopping center where our studio is located to work on a commissioned piece I’ve already mentioned in a previous post. These were the last few small cloths I needed to knit, and since I knew I’d have some spare time, I brought them along to get a head start on the work.

By 6:00 p.m., I decided to head back to the place where my son was taking his course; on the way, I noticed the weather was taking a turn for the worse—it was looking really nasty, to be honest. I was lucky enough to arrive just in time, as it started to rain about five minutes later.

There was still about 40 minutes to go, and I was a bit worried about the weather and how late it was getting. Since we live an hour away, we had to figure out how we would manage over the next year and a half to ensure we could get back home comfortably and safely.

Luckily, that day I had been chatting with another woman who had also arrived early to pick up her son. As we were walking toward a spot where we could catch some form of transport, someone offered us a ride to help us reach a stop more quickly. It couldn’t have come at a better time! Still, we’re a bit concerned about how we’ll manage in the weeks to come. I’ll keep you posted on how things go on this new adventure. For now, I can tell you that we are absolutely thrilled about this opportunity—one my son earned thanks to all the hard work he’s put into his classes. ♥
