Un regalo inesperado (Parte II) || An unexpected gift (Part II) ♥

¡Hola Chicos!

Hi everyone!

Today I bring you the conclusion of this story, which had a few small (but significant) obstacles along the way.

For those who didn't read the previous post, let me tell you... my grandmother sold the house where she lived for over 50 years. Since my grandfather passed away—whose death anniversary was the day I posted the previous post—she had gone to live in the eastern part of the country with some relatives. She hadn't wanted to return to that house, so all her children decided to sell it, with her approval, of course.

The house was on the market for several months until a buyer finally appeared. The paperwork took a few more months because an aunt and my mother are out of the country, and their authorization was needed for the sale.

Finally, the day arrived, and my grandmother traveled here to collect the things she wanted to take, sell, and give away. That's where this story begins, because I was going to receive some of those things. I honestly had no idea.

I had already moved some tables, the sewing machine, and other things. I had taken some of them and left them at the shop, and then I went back one day to tidy up because I had left everything in the entrance.

Meanwhile, my cat Simba was having a blast inside the sewing machine, where he found the perfect refuge from our dog Mokka's cuddles. 😂

But here's where the madness in this story begins... I had planned to go back another day to pick up some books I'd also received as gifts and to say goodbye to my grandmother. I had classes that day, so I went in the morning.

On my way to my grandmother's house, I received a message from an aunt telling me that the bedroom set I'd been given was hers and that along with the furniture I'd already taken was a display cabinet. 😐

In my previous post, I mentioned how crazy it was figuring out how to get all those things to the shop and back home, and we couldn't make a second trip.

I arrived at her house, and sure enough, that display cabinet and a stone water filter were waiting for me, in addition to the books. There was no problem with the books because the mother of some students who happens to live on the same street was going to do me the favor of bringing them to the shop.

It was time to leave, and in that anxious uncertainty of not knowing what to do, we said goodbye to my grandmother. This is probably the last time we'll see her, because she's moved back to the eastern part of the country. We didn't travel, and she has no reason to return to Zulia. So it was an emotional farewell for everyone.

From there, we went to the house of this representative who invited us to lunch. It was a kind gesture on her part.

And here the race against time began, because we had to find a way to move this piece of furniture before the house was handed over to its new owners, and that was in less than a week.

After about five days, we managed to scrape together some money and went to pick up the furniture with the same man who had made the first trip. We took advantage of that day to formally say goodbye to my grandparents' house, which had always been a peaceful place for me and later became the same for my son, who was fortunate enough to share his life with both of my grandparents.

That furniture is now here at home, and it's wonderful to know that a part of that history has stayed with me. I know my grandfather is incredibly happy that his things, which he worked so hard for many years ago, are with someone who truly appreciates them. ♥

And if you think the story is over, well, it's not. The next day I received another message from my aunt saying that those vinyl records I had asked for last year, which they had refused to give me at the time (it was the only thing I had asked for because I knew nobody wanted them), were there for me to pick up... 😐

An uncle had said he wanted them, which is why they hadn't given them to me, and now, at the last minute, he decided to give them to me. I can't deny that I was angry because he waited so long for that, and besides, he had already gone to my grandmother's house three times, where he clearly could have given them to her.

Anyway... the records were finally mine, and I wasn't going to let them go. So I had to go a fourth time. This time I went alone and with only a couple of hours to spare, because they notified me that same day at 10 am. I was leaving to teach my classes, and I had to rush there and then go to the store.

I'm grateful for everything I received. What I didn't like was the poor organization of the whole process, even though I knew I didn't have the resources to make so many trips, when everything could have been resolved in a single day.

Even so, I'm happy with all my new things and, of course, I'll make the most of them. ♥
