Chad steered a ballclub that was completely buried after dropping 46 of their first 72 games, only to script one of the greatest second-half turnarounds in sports history to punch their ticket to the dance. Point blank, any other outcome would have been a total robbery.

Let’s check out the shifting postseason picture where locking down an American League wild card spot looks like a massive uphill battle for anyone on the outside looking in right now. The Houston Astros have only one path left which is putting together a red-hot week and praying the Rangers completely fall off a cliff. Meanwhile, the only way the White Sox skip the wild card round entirely is by catching up to the Guardians. Those are the only two scenarios that could shake up the current bracket where the Rays and Guardians would earn a first-round bye. That leaves the White Sox and Rangers to square off in the first best-of-three wild card series. And the high-voltage showdown on the other side of the bracket remains locked in, so everybody stop what you're doing to watch the Yankees and Red Sox leave it all on the field in the Bronx. That historic matchup is officially a lock because the Bronx Bombers can no longer catch the Rays for the division title. The only things that could pivot are the South Siders grabbing that first-round bye—which would set up a Texas-Cleveland opening matchup—or the Astros sneaking into the dance, creating a first-round pairing of either Houston-Cleveland or Houston-Chicago. Grab your popcorn, folks.

Only a historic, catastrophic collapse would let the D-backs sneak into the dance, and that is just not happening. We are not going to see any shaking up at the top of the divisions either. As things stand, the Brewers and Dodgers are lined up to secure a first-round bye, unless Atlanta tracks down the Dodgers for a better record, but that looks like a major long shot. That means the Braves will host the Phillies in a heavyweight wild card matchup, a high-stakes NL East battle where a single spark could cause the benches to clear. The other bracket, while lower profile, features some serious ballplayers with the Cubs taking on the Padres, who are the hottest team in baseball right now after rattling off 15 wins in their last 17 ballgames and literally snatching the final ticket right out of the Diamondbacks' hands. They are an absolute juggernaut.

El pitcheo tuvo un protagonismo inigualable al dominar de tal modo, que sólo permitió a 7 hombres sobrepasar el umbral de los .300 en AVE, dos de los cuales son de origen venezolano: Luis Arráez y Gabriel Moreno. También se destacó por el debut de una serie de muchachos llamados a ser la generación de relevo: Eduardo Valencia, José Fernández, Víctor Bericoto, Luis Lara, Pedro Ramírez y el espectacular Ethan Salas, entre otros que se nos olvidan, aseguran un futuro de oro dentro de la disciplina. Clase aparte para el pitcheo abridor venezolano, el cual tuvo un año estremecedoramente bueno: Martín Pérez, Keider Montero, Eduardo Rodríguez, Ranger Suárez y Jesús Luzardo, lucieron su mejor cara a pesar de las limitaciones impuestas al conteo de pitcheos.
