Hello hivers. I really loved drawing dogs when I was a kid, it’s been a while since I drew one, so I felt like doing it. Even though my personal cat-drawing challenge is still ongoing, the star of today’s post will be a dog, personally, I find them easier to draw than cats so come along as I bring this dog to life 🐶😁.

For this drawing, I used green construction paper, a white pencil, oil pastels, and colored pencils to fill in the shades I didn't have in the oil pastels. I like using geometric shapes to define my sketches, so that’s where I started.
Today’s subject is a Cocker Spaniel, one of its key features is its long, shaggy ears, typical of hounds, which give them a very endearing look. I started by coloring the lighter areas with yellow and blended it with orange.
To mark the shadows, I used the complementary color of orange, blue.
I colored the body and part of the face with the white pencil, and used gray to create shadows over the white. Many hounds have this coat pattern, white with a brown or black patch covering part of the face and the ears. I added black to the nose and eyes, sharpened some of the lines, and colored the collar.
The brown oil pastel I have is very light, so I used a brown pencil to define some parts of the ears and muzzle, as well as the eyes.
I was a little undecided about the background, but it looked good against the green cardstock, so I decided to use a darker green, I liked it because it made the puppy's colors pop.
¿Díganme si no quedó lindo? 😊
Finally, a few white paint highlights on the eyes and nose, a little more brown pencil to refine the details, and this puppy is all set. Tell me, don't it cute? 😊
